East Asian Jewish convert here, who was adopted by an Italian-American mom and a mixed European American dad. I agree with everything that @tikkunolamorgtfo said and wanted to add my personal experiences. My parents’ experience with American assimilation does not compare to the Jewish and Asian American experience.

The model minority myths that affect both Asians and Jews doubles as one at the intersection. A bunch of similar tropes affect both Asians and Jews. East Asians like Jews have been accused of being white or white adjacent and/or “more privileged” than other minority groups. East Asian and Jewish men are often desexualized and emasculated with various stereotypes. Many Chinese people have been accused of “dual loyalty” to China to the point where it has gotten a bunch of scientists in trouble. This is very similar to the dual loyalty accusation against Jews with Israel. Most distressingly, Asian Americans and Jews have been the subject of increasing levels of physical violence.

Many DEI programs fail to recognize the plight of the Jew or the Asian. Heaven forbid if you’re an Asian Jew. Some of my Jewish friends have struggled because of a lack of accommodations regarding work.

The racialization of Jews as “white” (especially but not exclusively in America) has been incredibly damaging. Not only does it exclude people like me but it also fails to tell the true story of our people.

I'm sorry but if Sami people can be understood as other-than-white and lighter featured First Nations people can be understood as other-than-white and individuals of our sisters the Romani when similarly afflicted by melanin deficiency can be understood as other-than-white....

Your classification of Jews, who span the whole gamut of color but share the racialization and experience of being othered among any majority, including whiteness in the north/west, is only further evidence of your racism. Because in doing so you continue to perpetuate double standards for Jewish people, which is dangerous when merged with perspectives that view whiteness as a merit signifier. Not that our identity isn't a fair bit older than this pretty reductive view, but

Regardless, I'll remind that the minority indigenous groups I mentioned are in the context of a white majority, but white people do not have a monopoly on colonialism. Plenty of people don't want to be called Arab in MENA and plenty of people aren't sure that they'd classify themselves as Chinese or Russian in the sense that the West views national identity. But that kind of nuance probably isn't something I should bother with if we haven't made it past point 1.

Nico, who’s cannonically described by most characters as “scary and unnerving?” Nico, who, for a long time, is one of the angriest characters in the series? Who’s only sassy and sarcastic because it took him FOUR YEARS to mellow out? Who’s described as being one of the most powerful demigods, who a lot of people still consider the scariest? Who’s come into his own as a character from TTC to TSATS? That Nico?

Or Annabeth who’s, “cold and calculating. Doesn’t show emotion or express herself”

Annabeth, who’s the most expressive person in the series? Who cries in EVERY book in the OG series? Whether it be for Luke, or Thalia, or Percy, or Chiron, or a literal DOG? Who expresses passion like no other when it comes to architecture and her other interests? Who’s expressed compassion for people she didn’t know? People who at times posed a threat to her? Who isn’t afraid to be angry, or happy, or snide, or rude, or excited, or scared, or ecstatic? Who’s been unapologetically herself since the moment the series started? That’s who doesn’t show emotion? That’s Annabeth?
