Two hours. That’s how long it had been since George had sent his reply, and you’d left him on read. It wasn’t a power move, exactly—you just needed time to calm down and think through your next step without overanalysing.

The group chat had been buzzing nonstop during those two hours, alternating between hyping you up and begging for updates.

“What’s the plan, bestie?”

“If you wait too long, he might think you’re playing hard to get. Actually… maybe that’s good?”

“Don’t reply yet. Let him sweat a little.”

But now, two hours later, you decided it was time. Nothing flashy, nothing over the top—just enough to keep things casual.

You opened his message again: “Good taste. But why didn’t you invite me?”

Your fingers hovered over the keyboard as you finally typed out a response:

“This was from last week, just thought it was cute.”

Short. Sweet. Unbothered. You hit send before you could overthink it, tossing your phone onto the bed like it might catch fire.

Almost immediately, the group chat went off:

“Did you reply? What did you say?!”

“I swear if you don’t update us—”

You hit record on a voice note.

“I finally replied,” you said, pacing your room. “Just told him it was from last week and I thought it was cute. Nothing dramatic, nothing flirty. Totally normal, right?”

Your phone buzzed, cutting you off mid-sentence.

“Oh my God, he’s replied already.” You scrambled to grab your phone, barely breathing as his message came through.

You froze. What.

You hit the group chat with a new voice note, your voice an octave higher than usual.

“GUYS. He said, ‘Let me know next time you’re in London—I’ll take you somewhere even better.’ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!”

The chat exploded.

“It means he’s asking you out, you fool!”

“George Clarke is flirting with you, Girl. Just accept it.”

“Please tell me you’re going to reply to this.”

And now, staring at his message, your heart pounding, you realised they might actually be right. Before overthinking got the better of you, you flipped back to the group chat, sending a voice note in a rushed whisper.

“Guys. I’m gonna tell him. That I, in fact, live in London.”

The chat immediately blew up:

“DO IT.”

“YES. FULL SEND.”

“This is the rom-com moment we’ve been waiting for.”

You couldn’t help but laugh at their enthusiasm as you typed out the reply:

“Funny you say that… I do live in London.”

For a second, you hesitated, wondering if this was too direct. But no—George had basically invited himself into your plans. The ball was firmly in his court now. You hit send, tossing your phone onto the bed and letting out a deep breath.

The typing bubble appeared almost immediately.

“Wait, seriously?”

A pause. Then:

“Okay, so no excuses next time. Drinks on me.”

Your jaw dropped. You grabbed your phone and sent another voice note to the group chat, your voice practically shaking.

“GUYS. He just said, ‘No excuses next time. Drinks on me.’ WHAT DO I DO?!”

The replies came flying in.

“You say YES.”

“You plan your outfit. That’s what you do.”

“Oh, he’s serious-serious. This man is INTO YOU.”

And as you stared at George’s message, a small, uncontrollable smile crept onto your face. Maybe this plan of yours had worked a little too well.

Feeling the growing weight of the situation, you opened the group chat again, needing their input more than ever. This was spiraling way beyond what you’d anticipated.

You typed out your message quickly:

“Girls, you guys are crazy. What do I reply without sounding weird? Like, I’d not mind meeting him, but do i really want to date him.”

You hit send and stared at your phone, the uneasiness settling in your chest. Sure, George was funny, charming, and, admittedly, good-looking—but the idea of this turning into something romantic felt… off. You just weren’t sure if that’s what you wanted.

The responses came flying in:

“Why not just keep it casual? You don’t have to date him to meet him.”

“Yeah, just treat it like meeting a friend. No pressure.”

“You’re overthinking it, bestie. Just go for the vibes.”

One of your friends sent a voice note, her tone more grounded.

You were halfway through wiping down the sink when the unmistakable opening of Mastermind by Taylor Swift started to play.

You froze, the lyrics hitting differently this time:

“What if I told you none of it was accidental?”

You stood there, sponge in hand, staring at your reflection in the mirror as the words sank in. The song’s sly, self-aware tone felt a little too on the nose.

“And now you’re mine, it was all by design…”

Your mind instantly wandered back to George. The thirst trap, the close friends list, the café post, leaving his message on read—all of it.

You blinked. Was I… masterminding this whole thing?

A laugh bubbled up before you could stop it. No, that wasn’t it. None of this had been intentional—at least, not at first. But still… hadn’t you leaned into it just a little? Played along, maybe even enjoyed the attention more than you’d admit?

The song continued, wrapping you up in its sly energy, and for a moment, you let yourself enjoy the absurdity of it all. You shook your head, tossing the sponge back into the bucket.

“Alright, Taylor, you’ve got a point,” you muttered to yourself.

As the song faded, you finished up cleaning, feeling strangely lighter. Maybe it was the music. Maybe it was the clean bathroom. Or maybe it was the realization that, mastermind or not, you could handle whatever came next.

After all, it was just George Clarke—and maybe, just maybe, you had a little more control over the situation than you thought.

Just as you were toweling off your hands and admiring your freshly cleaned bathroom, your phone buzzed on the counter.

You glanced at the screen, heart skipping when you saw the notification.

GeorgeClarkey: “I’m free tomorrow if that works? Then you can answer in person if it was for me or not 😉”

You stared at the message, the reality sinking in. Tomorrow morning, you’d be sitting across from George Clarke at some café in Camden, trying to act like you weren’t completely overwhelmed by the situation.

Scrambling, you switched back to the group chat and hit record on a voice note.

“Girls. Holy shit. He picked a place—Burr & Co in Camden—and said, ‘I’ll see you there.’ Like, this is actually happening. What do I even do now?!”

The chat erupted into sheer panic.

“SHUT UP. IT’S HAPPENING.”

“Oh my God, what are you wearing?!”

“Please tell me you’re going. You HAVE to go.”

“Act chill but also make sure you look amazing. Casual slay.”

You sank onto your bed, staring at the ceiling as their messages poured in. What were you even supposed to wear? What were you supposed to say? This wasn’t some casual run-in with a friend; this was George Clarke, a guy with millions of followers, who somehow found you and your close friends list intriguing enough to want to meet in person.

Another voice note: “Okay, but what if it’s weird? Or awkward? Or, like, he thinks I’m someone totally different than I am?”

“Stop overthinking! Just be yourself!”

“You’re cool, you’re funny, and he clearly likes you already. Just vibe.”

“Bestie, you have NOTHING to lose.”

They were right. You didn’t have to be anyone but yourself. And whether this turned into a funny story or something else entirely, you couldn’t deny that you were curious.

Graduation surprise

You're chatting with your two friends while your hands are filled with small bouquets of flowers gifted by friends and juniors.

You felt like you were being observed by a pair of eyes but just shrugged it off and pretended like you didn't care.

The sudden change of behaviour from your friends got you confused, both them were exchanging glances and giggling silently.

“I have totally forgotten that I left my earrings next to the sink while I was to styling my hair! Gotta go y/n,l'II see ya later~” "Lemme tag along with you too~", and like that both of your friends left the scene suspiciously.

You got even weirded out and thought to yourself, Wait a damn minute, they don't even have piercings-.

Your thoughts were then cut off by long arms that hugged from the back of your waist, a small weight on your shoulder. That totally freaked you out and your immediate instinct was to hit them with your elbow. A familiar voice groans by the sudden attack and lets go.

"Woah there,you got the skills hm?", Daisuke said in a sarcastic tone while rubbing where it was slightly stinging.

"Ouch”

When you realised that it was Daisuke, you immediately let out a sorry and went to give your lover a side hug.

"Daisuke how many times have I told you to not do that without a warning in public, I really thought you were a stranger and I actually got scared.", you lectured him,rubbing his back with your hand that wrapped his back.

"Alright, my bad”,he take the weight off your hand that carried the bouquets of flowers. "Well that's a lot of flowers.", he grins a little,you knew he was about to spill out something cheesy. He continues “but theses aren't as beautiful as yo-". Before he could finish his line, the both of you were already laughing, cringing at the line.

"Oh please don't ever say that again."

"As if you could stop me." in a playful tone, "But your the one to be blamed at for being pretty.", teasing you, raising his non occupied hand to softly pinch your cheek.

You jokingly rolled your eyes and swatted his hand away, “thanks i guess”, the feeling of small butterflies forming inside, you're annoyed at how easily he could just make your heart skip a beat, even at the most cheesiest line but you don't mind it because it's him after all.

He gasped dramatically from your reaction, placing a hand on his chest, "That's it?? Not even a full thank you or a kiss?hmm?", sounding offended, slightly tilted his head to have a better view of you,staring with those puppy' eyes, curiosity waiting for your next move.

This man really knows how to play with you, but he does not expect on what your next move was.

You took the graduation cap off your head, using it to cover a side of his face. You leaned up closer to reach close to his face, just enough to allow him to receive a kiss on his left mole.

His ears were red and you could see his previous smile growing when he received your affection, slightly surprised since you're quite reserved and he's mostly the one who does the physical contact in the relationship. Other then that, this has totally made his day.

"Somethings gotten into you?" slightly raising his brows, wrapping his free arm around you while you placed your cap on his head. His touch was quick yet gently.

He pulls you in, planting an affectionate kiss right on your lips as an appreciation. You immediately returned the favour.

The both of you let go, looking into each others eyes with care. The sudden realisation struck you that your in a public space and your face slowly collecting redness.

Daisuke was also in a similar state with you. Looking at each other being shy about the situation which made you guys go for another round of laughter.

We've been thinking about Frisk's personality the wrong way! They're not either merciful or murderous, or flirty or childish. They're all of them at once. Their personality is one of possibly. They aren't one individual option, but choice itself.

They represent something we don't consider a part of their personality as a human, and that's something that makes them *so* human. Because humans aren't a set of choices, but all of those choices combined, and the drive and possibly to make any of them at any given moment.

They're not a blank slate or something you project yourself onto. They're their own character, you just help them choose.

The choices are always there, Frisk always has them. The choices are not ours, they're theirs.

The Frisk who flirts with every monster, being silly and becoming friends with them? That's Frisk.

The Frisk that's pissed off at everyone but still wants to be friends? That's Frisk.

The goody two shoes who's as nice as possible? That's Frisk.

The Frisk that does what is necessary to achieve the best ending? Frisk.

And the Frisk who kills off everyone, just to see what happens? Still Frisk.

They only allow the player to choose between a very specific set of actions. Fight, Act, Item, Mercy. And the ACTS change from monster to monster, only a few they seem really fond of staying the same.

As expected from a kid, they seem to be driven by curiosity. They want to know as much as possible about a given Monster. Conversations- there's quite the extensive set of options when calling someone. You don't have to give them any input for what to say if they choose to call anyone. Simply calling is enough.

It's implied they made quite a dirty joke if they're told to flirt with Toriel after calling her mom. Because believe it or not, kids sometimes know about weird topics without engaging in them.

Even their expression could be used as evidence: -_- is now they look- their eyes closed, they're allowing you to guide them.

Despite how people portray them, they're not a silent protagonist, they're not speechless. They're actually quite talkative.

It's like they recognize that you want to play the game, and that you can only do that by giving them choices. And they allow you to give them choices. But only those specific ones.

It's like they're saying "you can play, but you gotta play by my rules"

Not to mention the circumstances that have to happen for you to know their name.

Because despite all these options, the kid does have a preference. They want to be friends with everyone. Or at least, they want everyone to be as happy as they can make them. That's why, only once you manage to help them free everyone, you get to learn that they're called Frisk.

"You're not really [Player Name], are you?"

That? That's Asriel, not just acknowledging that Frisk is not his childhood friend and kindered spirit. The one he misconstrued in order to relate to them, who wasn't perfect, but still trying their best. He knows Frisk not them.

No, he's acknowledging that, despite everything, despite the choices made in their regard, Frisk is happy. Someone chose for them, but they did it by their rules. Everyone is happy, just like they wanted. And Frisk did not change as a person.

You do not learn Frisk's name if you do not appease them.

Instead, they disown your choices, and you by refusing to let you know who they are, if you don't make them happy.

If you do the opposite of what they want you to do, you only get what you've been doing reflected back at you.

By someone bearing your name but not your face.

And they? [Your name]? Chara? ? They will remind you, even if Frisk is gone, that you were the one to drive them away.

"You didn't follow the rules, you betrayed the trust I gave you. You proved yourself unworthy of control. I won't even allow you the illusion of playing through me anymore."

You thought you could do what you want with them, but now, they're rejecting you.

Despite how little control they seem to have, Frisk is the one pulling the strings.

This is their game.

Why The Ending Sucks

Ok I figured it out. Hear me out:

The entire comic has a running theme best summed up as "who is controlling the narrative, and why are we listening to them?"

Hussie plays a caricaturized version of himself that he describes as "buffoonish" and "oafish". Caricature!Hussie is well-meaning, but a dumb idiot who's incredibly biased in favor of certain characters and in disfavor of others (the most obvious example being his "love" of Vriska, but there's also the way he constantly disparages Eridan). As a result, you have to be VERY SKEPTICAL and VERY CAREFUL when approaching Homestuck's narration, because even when the "best" narrator is at the helm, he's not 100% trustworthy and incapable of giving the readers an unbiased view of the story.

I say "best" because, importantly, Hussie isn't the story's only narrator. He and Doc Scratch explicitly fight over control of the story - Doc Scratch, the child abusing predator who engineered Alternia's fascist murder society, whose shaping of its history is explicitly described by character!Hussie as "fanfic". He is then killed by Lord English, who is described by Hussie as embodying the "toxically masculine" and by extension, the patriarchy, and Caliborn explicitly takes control of the story. John even grapples with Caliborn's version of events, calling out how sexist and misogynistic and shitty it is.

So if we're keeping score: control over the narrative is LITERALLY wrested away from Hussie (who was already struggling to be unbiased) by fascists, abusers, and the patriarchy. It's stressed multiple times that Caliborn/LE are responsible for literally everything that ever happens; the reason the Game Over timeline ends the way that it does is because the alpha timeline is, in essence, the narrative LE is telling: the forces of fascism get to claim the new universe, thereby propogating itself, while friendship dies and all hope is lost.

Who's in control of the narrative, and why are we listening to them?

There are other minor examples of this, too: Aranea is an exposition fairy, and she's biased as fuck and wrong ALL THE TIME about her own teammates. Karkat's explanations and rationalizations are constantly tinged with his own self-loathing and self-blame. Sollux and Meulin are both prophets as per their Mage class, but are both so bogged down by their own emotional issues that the futures they pick out are actively harmful. So on and so on. At nearly every turn, you have to interrogate who's telling the story, what their motivations are, and what they're overlooking or deliberately obfuscating.

So given that this theme is so prevalent, and so thoroughly weighted toward "well, actually, maybe you shouldn't take narration at face value and should interrogate it and come to your own conclusions," it would be Really Weird for the story to go "actually, you can totally trust the narrative now because everyone gets a happy ending".

So, I know that it makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist, but here's my genuine take on Homestuck's ending:

The ending is shitty on purpose because the viewer is intended to take it as a dare to refute the narration and make something better.

Why are we letting character!Hussie tell the story? He's a biased idiot. Why are we letting the various avatars of LE and Caliborn tell the story? They're fascist, misogynistic, predatory assholes.

And - because Homestuck is a story about life - why are we letting idiots, assholes, abusers, and creeps dictate the story of real life? The world is full of forces that would try to take control of the story and make everyone else play along, represented in microcosm within the text of Homestuck. We cannot let those forces win.

Headcannons BEN Drowned.

Starters first he died at the age of 14 and I do personally think he is the same case as Sally, he does not age nor physically nor mentally. We all know that Ben basically "controls" the electronics. I always liked to imagine that when he wants to be alone he just goes inside an electronic and hangs out there.

When it comes to personality, he is very bubbly but sarcastic as hell if that makes sense. Extroverted, very extroverted. Likes to pull harmless and actually funny pranks on the others in the manor.

His appearance will always be the one of a 14 year old. I think he has blonde hair but with faded dark green ends, that would look so cool. For fashion sense literally dresses for comfort not style. T shirt and jorts and some cartoon socks (can you tell that this is how I dressed at 14 yrs)

For friends he would totally be best friends with Jeff and silver. I think the whole fandom settled down on that one. I also the relationship between him and Sally brotherly. Shipping them is fucking weird. Also unpopular opinion, best friends with Nina. Like I totally see Ben being into scene/emo stuff and Nina just telling him about the politics and style. (I feel like everyone would be friends w Nina, can y'all tell I have a fav girl)

Spends time playing video games but every time someone says he's addicted to them and angel loses its wings. His fav animal are definitely dogs. Has a ton of fun with Smile dog. Plays catch with him and honestly everyone in the manor loves smile dog, who wouldn't. Totally prefers dogs rather than cats, I still feel like his fav pet would be a parrot tho, I don't know why, maybe I'm just going insane writing this.

His favorite season would totally be autumn. He just seems that kind of person where you look at them and instaly know their fav season, autumn. He likes to see how the leaves fall and change color, likes to make those big piles of leaves and just jumps in it.

When he was still alive I think he would get sick on a regular basis, he's happy that now he can't get sick or go to the doctor to be treated or do those vaccines that you do at a specific age.

Most of his time is spend playing games but he really likes spending time with friends too. He likes to talk with silver about Pokemon and games in general, he likes to draw and gossip with Sally and he also really enjoys just talking with Jeff in general. There isn't really that much to do with Jeff rather than to talk shit about people or train.

Since he is a ghost I do think he is capable of going in the city whenever he wants to. I mean most proxies are but they don't do it that often due to the risk of being recognize but since he's a spirit he doesn't have to worry about that.

Speaking of music he is totally into Pierce the veil, like I do view him as the type of person to listen to electronic music but Pierce the veil goes with anything. I don't know ANYTHING about music genres so I'm gonna name any electronic bands😿

When it comes to killing I think he would drive his victims insane but when he wants to do it quick I just think he would electrocute them.

Never liked being a proxy but there isn't anything he can do about it. Honestly I don't think anyone likes being a proxy but most, like him, accepted their fate but still dream that one day maybe they'll be free.

How is he treated in the fandom?

From the very beginning when I joined this fandom in 2016 I saw people going crazy over Ben drowned. And I understand, it was 2016 and everything was very unrestricted, not a safe space for kids and teens and you would see some fucked up shit on the internet on a daily basis but I feel like now that we grew as a fandom and grew mentally we can all agree Ben isn't treated how he should be. He is a great character and very good written. His original story, BEN, where he gets stuck in Majoras mask and it was an ARG and nobody knew it wasn't real was so well done. But ts clear that Ben and BEN are both children, no matter of which one we speak.

The ships

First, he's a child, he shouldn't be shipped with anyone. It first started with Sally. There are so many wrong things here, in Sally's original story she dies at 8 years old and Ben at 12 (in my AU he is 14, no big difference) , that's a huge gap. Secondly why ship minors.

After the Sally incident it went along with Jeff which is more fucking worse. Not only that Ben is 12, Jeff is 20+. That is wrong on so many levels and I'm sure you're mature enough to know and I don't need to list down every fucking reason.

After Jeff, came silver. Which I don't know much about silver so I don't know if this is problematic or not. I'm not gonna put my opinion on this just wanted to include him too since he is apart of this too.

How people viewed him

Literally nothing changed when it comes to how people view him. There are only 2 ways, you either see him as k1nk1 and perverted or as a stoner and a crack head. What the fuck. I don't think I ever met someone who does NOT think of him like that, it's trully sickening and weird. And it has always been like this. It's a huge problem that sadly the people in the fandom choose to ignore rather than speak about it and try to fix it. A problem won't fix itself if no ones speaks no one speaks up about it, and not just one person, more.

Excuses

Many people use excuses when talking about why they go crazy over Ben. I don't believe there is any excuse, you're just weird for doing that. The only excuse that seems KINDA valid is being the same age as him, I can't say anything at that but 15+ and still having a crush on Ben? No. Just no.

When you're the same age as the character, I can't say anything but older than that specific character? It's just wrong, in any way. People, especially adults, need to stop having crushes on characters younger than them or that are literally minors.

Speaking of personality swaps,

Jessica and Blonney would be PEAK (even though to me they are already perfect). A blonde ray of sunshine who positively lights up with enthusiasm when talking about horror movies that can only be matched when she's in the company of her (extremely obvious) crush. And a shape-shifter who generally dislikes people as a concept (and is a bit rough around the edges) but strives to blend in nonetheless because it allows her to stay near her (extremely obvious) crush.

Neither of them are aware that their feelings are mutual because Blonney says she's loves Jessica as often as she breathes, and Jessica only says "I love you" when Blonney is distracted or dozing off.

Blonney: "You can see the amount of care that went into the set design of the house and the choice to make the blood splatter against the family photos is actually foreshadowing that the killer is-(insert several hours worth of rambling here)!" 😄

It's rare to see Blonney smile genuinely on a normal day, she's usually a very rough and mean person, most of the time it's not exactly on purpose, it's just a part of her. So, to see her walk in with a bright smile, lights shining in her eyes and a slightly dense personality (as opposed to her self deprecating denial), people were obviously taken aback

Blonney would say things that wouldn't match the context of the conversation, but it's not as important, she's so passionate and happy to talk about her interests and it's quite lovely to see some genuine freedom taking over her.

It's easy to see her around her lovely best friend, who's not so lovely at this time.

Jessica used to light up the room with her innocence and happiness, but now she's quite mean and rough. It doesn't seem kike she's unaware, but also doesn't seem like it's entirely on purpose.

"Could you get lost already? Hearing you chatter off my ears is such a bother. Don't you know my senses are more sensitive than normal?" With such disdain, oftentimes accompanied by a roll of her eyes.

And, to nobody's surprise, she and Blonney are always together, though it's Blonney the one who always has her arms around Jessica while the changeling only sighs and "endures" it.

"I've been writing this new story, it's about a crew in a ship! Do you wanna hear it? I made it last night, and uh" plays with her hair "I thought you'd love to see it!"

"Mmm, let me see. You're always finding time to do weird stuff"

"Well, you love to see them anyway, don't you?"

They accidentally flirt with one another a lot. Blonney is the more touchy one, always having an arm around Jessica or holding her hand whenever she's allowed to. On the other hand, Jessica is occasionally doing physical touch.

She would lay her head on Blonney's shoulder whenever the cheerful blonde wants to read her a story, she would run her hand through her hair when she's sleeping, or if she's feeling more daring and flirty; playing with her hair as they talk.

Blonney unfortunately doesn't have that tough exterior anymore, so you can picture her stuttering, having to take a couple deep breaths and blushing whenever Jessica does any of these things.

And somehow they're still oblivious. Not even WINDSONG 😭

So, re-watching it last night, I was struck by how uncomplicatedly fun the episode had become for me. I remembered such an uncomfortable viewing experience! And here I was perfectly at ease with all of it. Weird feeling.

I think part of it is that I've exposed myself to a lot more of GMMTV's teen cringe comedy - a style that heavily plays with adult audience discomfort imo, and leaves everyone to figure out where they draw the line - and this episode wouldn't be so out of place in one. It's not that I've been desensitized so much as the language is now familiar? So to speak?

But a much larger part is that the episode is remarkably coherent with what the show will be doing later on (though not particularly about revenge porn, to be clear), in a way that answered most of my then queasy "do the writers realize how heavy that is situation actually is?" with "yeah. they do." I think the biggest moment for me was when. you know. Claire is threatening to release potential porn of a classmate. on stage. in front of an audience. And the camera cuts to the gifted's teacher who is just fucking sitting there? Not doing anything to stop her?? And I remember the visceral feeling of what the fuck, how is this happening, how is this happening like that, do they realize how it looks that their one suposedly alright teacher isn't moving a muscle? And rewatching it... I really think they did. Because like I said in my tags, the feeling of "someone help???" and the feeling of "something absolutely horrible is happening to that kid. and everyone is pretending that a different thing is happening." is a feature and not a bug for this show. And isn't cutting to the adult in charge one of the best way to create those feelings? I also think it's another reason the show does teenage level so well, the numerous and various ways the kids are being let down by adults. It's a tried and true method! But it also makes it more engaging for an adult audience, because for fuck's sake, why won't anybody fucking help.

I also want to note that the moments Claire is textually told "this isn't that big a deal" are before the video reveal, when Korn and Punn think it's just unflattering picture. Like, I really think Korn didn't know (and we know for sure Punn doesn't). And the subsequent takeway from the reveal, the "well if a boy actually likes you he shouldn't give a fuck about your sexual history, and if he did give a fuck he wouldn't deserve you" is sadly not that common a stance. I feel that it once again does a good job at placing itself at teenage level, and as a teenager I would have liked that lesson better than "don't you know cyberbullying is bad?". From that angle, the fact that Korn & Punn literally don't see the problem is in fact pretty refreshing. But.

But. It still doesn't sit right that nobody besides Claire seems to see the problem. - I really think it's on purpose, and it says so much about Claire that she'll cheerfully take her petty revenge but says "I will not do to you what you did to me". That she's in it more to understand (she wants to know why!!!) and personal satisfaction than for an abstract (for her) concept of justice. I'm actually blown away by how efficiently and elegantely this episode introduces us to who she actually is! - But it still doesn't sit right. It still doesn't change that I wanted the show to take me by the hand, as you said, and have a scene where someone fucking validates her. And I think it could have, without veering into Special Episode, Let's Explain The Issue drivel. I think she could have had one (1) short conversation with a female classmate (maybe Namtaan, sweet well-meaning busybody that she is) offering sympathy. And maybe Claire would have been too prideful to accept it, but I would have loved one moment, just one, of someone aknoweldging the horror - and it needed to be a girl her age.

Which brings us to my main gripe with this show, really, and that is the gender balance. They simply needed more female characters! So that when a female character was facing sexual harrassement (which revenge porn is), her anxiety and sadness and rage wasn't so tied to the boys in her life! Sighs. Korn should have been a girl. I'm not just saying that because I love him. Or Wave. Ooooh society if Wave had been a girl. Or Pang! Or Ohm! Literally they simply needed more female characters.

And then there's the fucking face soap add. I'm not touching that, though: we're all in agreement.

so curiosity got the best of me and I skimmed through the gifted, which is an okay show doing okay teenage level things about pressure to conform and the school system and then has the most insane episode on cyberbullying I've seen maybe ever. I don't know if it's in a good or bad way honestly. just. what an ensemble of choices

When I first got into Kirby, I didn't expect to like, actually get into it. I thought it'd be like any other hyperfixation I'd had up to that point, that it would go away within a few months and I'd never think about it again.

Given I was so deeply in denial, I didn't care about being fully accurate and had some stuff that was really goofy and/or underdeveloped and unexplained. Stuff I'd made up to just work for the limited time I would be there.

Still, I came up with a few headcanons that I got attached to, and when I started realizing this was here to stay, I still chose to be stubborn and had to work backwards to keep these stupid headcanons, but adapt them into something a bit more fitting and polished.

It led to some cool stuff, like for example, my orbs aren't very magical, this was something I had settled on early on. But after I got invested, I had to think about what that actually meant and the implications of it like, how can they do this without magic? And what about that? What about this canon thing, how do I explain it?

I found decent enough explanations for all of these. But as a result of my unserious beginnings and continued stubborness, now I get really embarrassed at the time to actually talk about my headcanons and the stuff I've come up with.
