#glalie#another very cold shivering ice-type. gen 3 seems to have had a lot of theseâ huh?#and this guy is *kinda* just a circle. but i guess they have holes in 'em. are those⊠holes? what is the layer on the outside made of#i guess i assumed steel because of their typing (4x weakness to fighting my belovĂšd) and that there was some sort of black mass inside that#and that's where the⊠bulk of the⊠meat? lives? i dunno why there would be pointless holes that aren't for their eyesâ then#wait hold on. glalie is a pure ice-type. i'm actually gonna die its DEX entry says âit covers its body with a layer of ice harder than steel#â which i guess. is why i thought. it was part steel-type. your headcanons are immaculate and honestly I base a lot of mine around yours. do you have more for gaeric? he's my blorbo. he's my guy. i want to compare notes
Ive talked about him a lot bc he's my personal chew toy, but im happy to repeat and talk
As I've stated, Gaeric is gay but hasn't come out yet. Maybe he's embarrassed, maybe he feels ashamed, or maybe he's just not ready.
Palina is aware he's gay, she grew up with him afterall. Mai is also aware, because she's definitely noticed Gaeric glancing at Iscan and Adaman
He's been banned from the Wallflower. He refuses to say why, and Beni will also not say why. But Beni will claim that 'he knows what he did'.
His Snorunt (future Glalie) was a complete accident. He dropped some berries when he was younger, Snorunt found them, and proceeded to follow Gaeric around. They eventually grew as friends but tbh Gaeric thought Snorunt was a nuisance at first
He's definitely a little sensitive about his height, especially compared to Ingo when he's not slouching
Personally I believe he specialized in ice types because of how Snover basically fell into his lap, yes, but also to counter the Alpha Garchomp in the Icelands, should it ever attack
He likes mushroom and meat dishes :) I personally love the mental image of him cooking some stuff on a little grill in his home, very cozy

Pokemon Horizons Episode 55 Review - Friendly Matches With The Elites
Itâs nice that the story takes a break in order to have a fun little match with the Elite Four members. While the fights were fun to watch, what worries me the most is that the matches will be used for power scaling debates. Please take those debates out of here and just watch the kids battle Elite Four trainers for the fun of it! Pokemon is all about fun, after all! These matches do not determine which Elite Four is the strongest or weakest or which of the three kids are the strongest. Itâs just a test for students to see how well they have progressed and how well they can terastalize. There is a set of rules with these battles: The students must pair up with the Gym Leader they took the test with and only the student can terastalize. The match ends when one of the Elite Fourâs Pokemon is knocked out or when the studentâs Pokemon is knocked out. I like that the rules are strict because it handicaps both the Gym Leader and the Elite Four member and gives the student the spotlight because theyâre the most inexperienced.
Four matches were shown in this episode. To be honest, I thought that the pacing would be a bit messy, but itâs not as bad as I assumed. The main highlights are Dot and Royâs matches, so Coral and Sidianâs matches are trimmed down heavily. For Dotâs match, sheâs paired up with Iono and theyâre matched against Poppy who uses Tinkaton and Copperajah. Dot uses Quaxly and Iono uses Bellibolt. For a nine-year-old, Poppy actually shows why sheâs an Elite Four member as sheâs very strategic in her battles. She uses Sandstorm mechanics and she even commands her Tinaktink to use Brick Break to break Belliboltâs Reflect. I think thatâs the first time its secondary effect is shown? Speaking of battle effects, I loved the little detail where Quaxly gets shocked by Discharge because itâs a move that affects the ally too The battle was very exciting, but eventually, Copperajah gets knocked out by Bellibolt, securing a win for Dot. I do like that Dot is actually frustrated with her win because itâs in-character for her. She wanted to win with her own merits, but Poppy tells her to cheer up.
The match with Roy and Brassius against Hassel was also fun to watch! While the previous match with Dot was a match full of strategy, Royâs match was one full of creativity. I do like that Roy and Brassius teamed up to create moves that can be used in a contest battle. However, I did expect Roy to lose; itâs not because of the fact that he was the only one of the three who won his Terestal Course battle, but itâs because Baxcalibur got so many power-ups due to its ability that a win for Hassel was already guaranteed. Seeing the two struggle against him reminded me of when I was battling him in the game; I struggled hard with him tooâthat Baxcalibur is terrifying. Despite losing, Roy is happy. He learns that battling is all about teamwork and that he needs the help of others to get things done. I love that the mindset between Roy and Dot differs in these matches. I love the part where Hassel bursts into tears and is comforted by his Pokemon; seeing Baxcalibur hugging him was the cutest thing ever!
The Explorers duo get their matches too, but itâs trimmed down a lot. Coral actually loses her match when she uses her infamous Self-Destruct tactic to not only knock out her own Glalie, but her partner Kofuâs Wugtrio and Larryâs Flamigo and Oricorio Pom-Pom form. The way she got mad that itâs not considered a win and how Larry roasted her by telling her that her personal rules wonât apply when she goes into society was hilarious. Sidian also loses his match with Rika because he was protecting his partner Tulipâs Espathra, knowing that if his Pokemon is knocked out, heâll lose. He explains that itâs not in him to use âbackupâ as a means to secure victory, showing off his usual honorable side. Seriously, Sidian is a rather nice guy; I do wonder why heâs with the Explorers. Overall, I feel like the matches with Kofu, Tulip, and Larry are cut down because theyâre most likely the focus for the next stage of the Terestal Course; thatâs just a prediction on my part.
Overall, these matches were a lot of fun! Itâs just nice to see the kids battle and see their improvement! Now that the next episode will focus on Liko and Katy against Rika, I do wonder who will win. Liko has the type advantage as Rika is a Ground-type specialist, but her ace Clodsire is also a Poison type, which means that Grass moves wonât be as effective. If I was her, Iâd target Dugtrio. Who do you think will win?

omg hiiiiii xxx same semi anon from like a month ago itâs great to see u again
currently planning a stz pokemon au where theyâre all gym leaders of a region - little stuck on some of the types if u had any hcs ? taking suggestions from anyone in replies as well đđ
essentially i have semi as ghost for plot reasons, shirabu as steel and ushi as dragon + also the champion. and the rest (+ jin) Slightly more stuck ? keep flipping between tendou as psychic (but thereâs not good pokemon that fit for a team imo) or fire cause of the hair. yamagata also works as fire potentially
would love to hear ur thoughts u always have genuinely the best takes on these guys. and if u donât know pokemon so sorry LMAO
oh my god semi anon you have no idea how much i LOVE pokemon!!! i've got my own au in the works for them, and i always enjoy seeing other people's takes on what a pokemon au would look like!! also, i'm assuming this is sort of like a brand-new region and thus teams aren't limited to what would typically be region-locked pokemon, which would make forming them waaaaaaay easier.
i do really like the idea of tendou being a psychic-type or fire-type expert!!! if you really want to throw a curveball and have tendou do something unpredictable--which i also think is very tendou-like--then i think fairy would be a good specialty for him, too, if you don't like the psychic or fire options for his team (of which we have a few options here--i think delphox or darmanitan could work as his main partner if he was either a psychic or fire expert, and galarian rapidash would work for psychic or fairy, too. fairy would also give you great options for a team overall because i personally think tendou would enjoy having a tinkaton and/or grimmsnarl on his side). generally, though, since tendou tends to be a wild card, i think you could go any type and have it make sense for him in the end LMAO.
if you decide to go down the fire path for tendou, that would leave yamagata in a hard place, it sounds like. i do think he'd be a cool fire-type expert--i can totally see a lot of them being on his team and as his main. if not, though, i think yamagata would be a great fighting or rock! if he had a lycanroc for his main/on his team, he'd take it out for jogs and play fetch with it, like, all the time. blaziken or infernape would also work for a fighting or fire team, or maybe hariyama.
if you end up not liking psychic for tendou, i think kawanishi would be a great psychic-type expert instead! ice and dark are also really fitting for him, i feel like. i could totally see him with a gardevoir or a gallade as a main, maybe an umbreon for dark and a glalie or frosmoth for ice. quiet, yes, but strong in his own right. pokemon who get him just as much as he gets them. the umbreon would curl up to take naps with him, and the gardevoir or gallade would know how he feels without him having to say it or show it on his face. they'd be good for him as a trainer and as a person.
reon, to me, would make a great normal or flying type expert. he'd be really cool with a noivern or a braviary as his main, maybe a sawsbuck on his team too if you're sticking with normal types. but i just have this image of him inside my head soaring on the back of the braviary with one of those aviator-themed outfits that some of the flying type leaders have!! he'd look really good in it imo, and i can also totally see him in that outfit against a dramatic backsplash of a susnet, arm outstretched for a bird to land on.
goshiki . . . a little bit more difficult. but i think he'd be a great poison or electric type expert, mostly becuase i know his path towards becoming that would be full of either accidentally poisoning or electrocuting himself. but he'd keep going, and that's what we love about him!! i can totally see him loving trubbish during a time when everyone makes fun of trubbish, and they make a vow to become the best together and show everyone or something. toxicroak would be another good one for him--a pokemon that tends to keep its cool while goshiki is floundering. luxray would also be a good one for that if you want to go down the electric route. if you want one to match goshiki's energy, i think electivire would be a really funny main for him in that case--baby goshiki and his elekid just sounds so cute.
and jin my beloved. if you leave flying for reon, then jin could totally be a normal type expert! i think he'd be great with a stoutland as his main. i also think he could be a grass type expert--he gives off those vibes to me for some reason. i can see him with a tangrowth, decidueye, or a tropius as his main/on his team being a grass-type expert. little jin with a rowlet trying to tackle the world sounds adorable to me, and i think they could grow into a really powerful team that many would underestimate when just initially looking at jin.
aaaaaand i think that's everyone covered!!! thanks for the ask anon, that was so much fu nand i'm always happy to discuss these things!! i hope this helps you in figuring things out, and feel free to drop by whenever!!!

Watched Ep 25!! Pics and thoughts below)
I am. Looking respectfully I swear-
He was so sassy this episode omg. I would have caught the wink he gave Liko and Roy but alas, I too was caught off guard to catch it đ it was still a thing of beauty though
I just love this sequence of events. There was a pause there as Ametheio was like "Oh wait you're right." before recalling Corvinknight (aka Armorgaw)
FRIEDE TERRAISLITAZION LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO
His face after Ceruledge (aka Soublades) gets one shot by Terra Blast is priceless but also just the vibes of this.... anyone getting Hunter from ToH vibes??? Just me???
Same Feucocco, same. Also wasn't able to screenshot this, but Terrapagos' reaction to the terra.... hinty hint! Also the new poster showing it's terra form?? We're definetly seeing that soon.
Jessie/James vibes are real and alive
AGAIN- WHAT IS UP WITH YOU HOMIE. God I need to study Amithio under a microscope
Buddy you are wearing a jacket and are standing next to a fire type- (But also this was just a silly little moment in a jam packed episode)
I swear this is a hint to Amethio joining Rising Volt-Tacklers, I promise just hear me out please- (No actually though, first time watching this scene I thought he was gonna hitch a ride on Charizard until he pulled out Corvinknight)
Oh I love this little shit already oh god. The snaggle tooth. The smile. The hair. The VOICE?!?! Perfect omg.
Well until she ordered her Glalie to blow up- I still like her though hope we see more of Sango (also her referring to herself in third person at times "Sango's your secret weapon?")
CAP!!!!!!
Okay so we're all in agreement he's gonna join right?? RIGHT!?!?! The way the camera panned up but you could only catch this expression of Amethio looking up at the Brave Asagi flying away for like a little bit until he goes back to his normal expression. Like come on-
LEGENDS ARCUES FANS REJOICE!!! FOR WE HAVE BEEN FED!!!
But also just how old is Lucius cuz Legends Arcus took place wayyyy back. It kinda makes sense now, in the memoir talking about people getting along with Pokémon, which was an unknown concept in Legends until the protagonist came along-
#pokémon#pokemon horizons#pokemon horizons spoilers#just posting#so many thoughtsssss#the Explorers being friends with Lucius?!?! Hello??? What is that about??#was there a falling out??#Terapagos seemed really happy when Diana mentioned all of the other mons that Lucius had (three of which we know and two of which they have#Wonder if they had a falling out because of Terapagos?#idk man I just finished the episode-#Also who the fuck is Master Gibon like#oh shit what if that was the friend-#wait no but then this guy would have to be really fucking old#huh#anyways

I finally did it, after 43 hours of drawing, coloring, and figuring out how to make his hairstyle !!!!
See below ! Also, I put an Easter Egg here. Can you find it ?
This baking boy here is Caemond, Crispin's chilly but kind twin brother, as well as Kieran and Joelle's friend and member of their team. Having grown up with their parents owning a restaurant, the two brothers planned to take it over together, Crispin with the meals, and Caemond with the desserts.
While Crispin went to the Blueberry Academy in Unova under the recommendation of Cyrano, Caemond chose to go to the famous Ăcole PĂątissiĂšre de Kalos to study baking, battling, and Kalosian language.
At first, everything was good. Caemond has good grades, he's the best (ice type) trainer of the school, making him an equivalent of the Elite 4 in his school, and bakes delicious pofiteroles every day with his ace, Vanilluxe.
However, his success became his downfall, as jealous classmates began to bully Caemond and steal his recipes, as well as calling names and spread bad rumors on him. The dam broke when he got pushed down the stairs by rich kids and the teachers closed their eyes because the bullies came from good families. After that, any of Caemond's sweets lost in sweetness, becoming bitter.
Furious about what happened, Caemond made his luggage and ran away to make his own journey in Kalos to overcome his bitterness and depression that affected his baking skills, crossing the ways of Kieran and Joelle in the way. Though he was wary about Joelle, he was whiplashed by Kieran's appearance, because he was sure he saw him before...
Personnality : Caemond as a child, was a kind and friendly boy who enjoyed desserts since his young childhood and wanted to make a career out of it to give the best sweets to humans and Pokemon alike.
As a pre-teen and teen, he has a very hardworking personnality, often cooking from dawn to late at night to master his baking skills, but sometimes it happens to the point of being called a workalcoholic as he neglected his health more than once.
However, after running away from school, Caemond became reserved and frowny, and tries to understand why he should continue his path when everything's against him. He often tends to be rude, as his recent experience with people didn't help a lot in his social skills.
As time went on, with the help of Kieran and Joelle, Caemond begins to lose his bitterness and finds once again the enjoyment of making sweets for the others. He is also very loyal and devoted to others, as well as a good trainer, being always willing to help his friends and Pokemon when they're in trouble or down.
Despite being kind, Caemond can be very harsh and observant when it comes to judge one's cooking, and always tell the tiniest mistake one did and doesn't hesitate in doing so, even if that someone has a handicap (like blindness). He also doesn't tolerate of Pokemon not being given treats as rewards and will do it if you don't.
Main Team : Vanilluxe, Lapras, Glalie (Mega-Evolve), Espeon, Frosmoth, Alolan Sandslash,
Trivias :
Substitutes : Delibird, Frost Rotom, Alcremie (Rainbow Swirl)
Etymology : Caemond's name comes from "Cae", which means "Blue" in Latin, and the "Almond", a treat that can be either sweet or bitter.
Caemond loves the cold very much and cannot tolerate to stay in warm places for too long, as he fears heat strokes. He can walk with tank tops and short through the cold mountains, but wouldn't survive in a beach. He never caught a cold in his life, but a lot of insulations.
He traveled to Galar for two months to study curry recipes.
Unlike Crispin who prefers spices, Caemond loves sweets, and hates hot spicy things.
When overenthusiastic, Caemond exclaims in French, before catching himself and repeat it in Unovan.
Caemond is the youngest twin and carries a whip.
He was often found napping in cold chambers.
Caemond is a very good swimmer. One of favorite activities is to jump off Lapras' back and dive into the icy water.
He is certain that he met Kieran before, but he's not sure about where and when.
His favorite pofiterole is the Spring Pofiterole.
Caemond as a notebook where he keeps every of his sweets ideas. His paranoia drove him to put a cadena with a locked, which only he has the key.
Vanilluxe is out of his Pokeball more than the rest of the team.
His substitute Pokemon are more used to help in cooking than battling, but they can hold it.
The reason his Mega-Stone is on his necktie is a reference to the fact that during cooking and baking, wearing accessories, even a watch, is strongly prohibited.

[ Musharna Malice, a dream thatâs not meant to be yours. ]
[ TWs include: Death, Body Horror, Gore, Repetition of Phrases ]
-
You let it happen again. You couldâve prevented this, you know that deep in the middle of your bones.
But you didnât. Because what can a kid do against the followers of the Wrathful God of Sun?
Your sister stands in front of you, a mirror of the man you saw decades prior. The Glalieâs jaw is ripped open at the seems, its hulking, disfigured form looks mercilessly over the only thing you have left in this world.
Its teeth are grotesque, rounded, uneven. A stark white in the midday light now stained crimson, crunching through bones with a disturbing lack of effort.
And your sister is gone again.
Euphrosyne, the only one you had, thrown away like all the rest.
Again.
And again.
And again.
And now her skin and flesh is on your hands, churning into wax to join the rest.
Again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
Until the night is over.
And you wake up.
[It had taken a while for Shilo to fall asleep in the first place, having to nearly be chained to the bed to actually remain stationary. It barely felt like she had closed her eyes when the dream came to her in its disturbing and twisted glory. She woke with a start as her Espeon pawed at her, sensing the anxiety. Though, it had already felt as if it had gone on for hours.
And yet... And yet she was absolutely transfixed by the dream itself. What was this horrible vision? Who's vision was this? It certainly wasn't hers. She had her own share of nightmares, it's why her Espeon had been trained to wake her in the first place. No, no, this dream didn't belong to her. And that made her curiosity override the hesitation to dwell on it.
Still not "allowed" to leave bed (Like, come on, she only coughed up blood like once today, she's fine) She was mostly left alone with her thoughts swimming around in her head, it took a while to sort thoughts were hers and which were remnants of memory from the dream.
Don't forget it. A Glalie. Worshipers of a God of the Sun... A sister? She still felt echos of pangs of guilt, deep inside, a reminder of the nightmare. She pet her service Pokemon for comfort as she brooded over what it could have meant. Was this dream literal? What was allegory and what was a reflection of reality? Impossible to know, for now at least. And not knowing something always made her antsy.]

Assorted Thoughts
A collection of small thoughts that I have but don't feel like making a separate blog post for.
Saw the new title: The Three Explorers. I'm hyper than I've ever been. This is what I've been waiting for. But it got me to wondering, are the original Explorers just the trio from the intro?
Kleavor is kinda small for a member of the Six Heroes isn't he?
I've always seen Amethio and Sidian as a duo like a prince and a knight (metaphorically of course). And usually I see it as Amethio as the prince-like one seeking his own path beyond the "crown" and Sidain as the knight with nobody to protect. But what if I'm wrong and its more like Amethio as the knight wanting to do more than serve and Sidian as the prince trying to earn his title. They both seem equally accurate and likely. I swear that one shot from episode 57 awoke something in my brain.
Chalce eludes me as I don't know much about her and she won't tell me anything. From what I do know, she thinks blood ties are messy and some secrets should remain hidden, which I've said before makes it sound like she has a secret child or something. Doesn't help that everyone, even Spinel, refers to her as Miss. Maybe she's older than I first thought...
Coral also eludes me sometimes. Sure, I know her character pretty darn well, she gives us plenty to work with. But I've never been able to grasp a solid backstory for her beyond overbearing family with one too many rules. Maybe that's all there is too it but it feels like there should be more. Also, all of the other admins have more than one partner so I wonder if she has more in the back or she's sticking with just Glalie.
Will the main trio every acquire more Pokémon? The show seems pretty comfortable with them each having two (Liko has three I guess if you count Terapagos). I mean I guess I'm okay with that but a part of me is oh so curious about what else they could have. Also, will they ever Tera their other Pokémon? They need some love too!
Could have sworn by now they would have done something with Lucca. I had this gut feeling when she first showed up that she was going to be important but maybe I'm wrong. She just seemed so vague / cryptic when she spoke...

Iâm playing Pokemon Emerald cause I was never able to play a Pokemon game when I was younger. Itâs going great aside from me randomly naming my Pokemon after Minecraft Youtubers and starting an au.
Hereâs the most current screenshot of my team, and now I shall share some of the thoughts about the au I accidentally made that Iâm also using for my in game lore where I basically donât really exist, but thatâs another thing.
Tis a bit long.
How the team formed.
Tango first met Skizz on Route 102, and after basically knocking the crap out of each other, they laughed it off and became friends.
They later found Impulse and Etho in the forest before Rustburo. Impy and Etho were basically just chasing each other around a tree, and thought the duo were cute and asked them to join.
They found Joker in the cave on Dewford Island, but it took a while to even talk to him cause Joker just kept on poking Skizz and making dumb comments replaying to him and running away.
They finally find Zedaph in the desert on Route 111 fighting a Glalie and a poacher all on his own after the Glalie knocked out all the Vibrava and Flygon.
And now for some random facts about them.
They built a tandem bike. Skizz handles the front pedals, and Tango handles the back ones. Joker sits on the front handle bars holding the Pokenav so they all have a vague idea where to go. Zed sits on the back handle bars so if someone tries to attack them close range, Zed can hold him out and have him chomp them. Etho and Impy sit in a baby bike trailer in the back.
Tango will not stop raising the bar. Â Like heâs highest level, and every time he steps up to give the others a break from battling, he only gets stronger and raises the bar even higher.
Ethoâs natural eye color is blue, very out of the norm for Poochyeans/Mightyenas, however his left eye is red, and he has a scar over it. Most people who first meet him think he got that scar in a cool way. Impulse will tell you that Etho tripped and hurt his eye on a sharp rock, and he had to take Etho to the Pokemon Center.
A lot of people think Ethoâs a lot more intimidate than he is. Heâs not.
After joining the team, Skizz saved him once, twice, 5 times, at least 10 times. Etho is waiting for an opportunity to save Skizz once.
When Skizz evolved into a Lombre, a patch of blue stayed around his right eye. Most of the younger Lotads heâs run across think itâs the coolest thing ever.
Impulse is wary of Sevipers because one named Helsknight decided to use him as basically a poison tail paddle ball. Impyâs shed skin helped him from being physically hurt too bad, but the mental and emotional hurt hit full force.
The usual red and blue sections on Impyâs wings, and his eyes are purple.
Joker used to steal stuff from campers back when he lived in the cave. Itâs how he got his jester hat. He stopped after joining the team.
He also has a section of the cave full of stolen tripods, and he forgot where it was when he left home.
Zedaph stubbornly refuses to evolve stating he does not want to gain a 4x weakness to ice. The only reason he might consider it is if Groudon, Kyoger, AND Raquaza were all fighting, and there was no other way to stop them.
Despite refusing to evolve, he has these little pink bumps on his back. Etho teases him by saying theyâre his little wing bumps.
Zedâs eyes are basically what Iâm calling Dragon Type Purple.
Tango is the only one who can fully speak the human language, and as such has taken it upon himself to not only shop but advocate for all his friends.
Joker and Zed can partially speak human, and they have been taking lessons from Tango.

Chapter 2 of Cryogenic is finished, which means the fic is complete! Can be read here or on AO3. Pokerus AU belongs to @monsoon-of-art.
âCryonics is regarded with skepticism within the mainstream scientific community. It is generally viewed as a pseudoscience, and its practice has been characterized as quackery.â
Frigid air burned in Dawnâs lungs as she ran and desperately searched for the river, her only hope of escape from the massive glalie on the prowl. She kept a jittery paranoid watch out for the glaceon that could effortlessly vanish and reappear in the blizzard and listened for Gaericâs far off caterwauling that seemed to come from all directions.
Everything looked the same through the snow storm with no familiar landmarks to indicate where she was and the ice lands were eerily devoid of pokĂ©mon. Dawn could barely see her paws in front of her face and it seemed miraculous her former friends hadnât caught up to her.
They were sloppy hunters despite the hunger and madness that drove them to try to rip her apart. Irida had silently stalked her prey, practically invisible in the blizzard, the only giveaway having been her red headpiece.
The warning from the crimson crown had given Dawn only a moments notice to turn tail and run, with the former Pearl Clan leader barking and snapping at her heels as the dewott sprinted on all fours. It had only been a wet, chesty cough forcing Irida to slow down to periodically hack up a lung that prevented her from catching up to her quarry.
It was a well practiced routine for Dawn at this point, this run from the mad wardens and their leaders, but the Alabaster Icelands during a blizzard was one of the worst places to find herself being pursued. The vast white tundra left her with very few places to hide and there were no bodies of water to dive into for a quick escape, aside from Lake Acuity and the river near Heartâs Crag.
Dawn relied on these aquatic getaways for safe exploration and took care not to stray too far away from them during her expeditions. She hadnât understood Iscanâs insistence on learning how to swim at the time, but she certainly appreciated his wisdom now.
It had only been a short distance upstream to the temple and despite knowing the two icy predators were in the area, she didnât think she needed to call Lord Braviary, like an idiot.
Irida used the cover of the storm to slip between Dawn and the stream completely undetected. She had chased Dawn straight towards the glalie that had been waiting silently in ambush and preparing an icy blast, the sheer cold of which would have frozen her instantly. Starvation had evidently driven Gaeric to impatience because he had sprung the trap far too early, missing entirely and giving her the chance to run.
Dawn had gotten more lost and turned around as they hunted and harried her across the tundra, shrieking and howling like fools.
They seemed to have lost the trail for the time being, but her reprieve wouldnât last long. As much as she wanted to sit down until the burning in her lungs stopped and ugly cry her eyes out, she was not out of danger yet and in far from ideal terrain to face them.
Howling winds tore at her flimsy head kerchief and flurries of snow stung her face. It was one of the few times she was grateful for her thick coat of fur, otherwise she would have frozen before Gaeric even reached her.
She had seen the remnants of glalie hunts during her research. The aftermath of the frigid ambush predators was an eerie sight; stumps of ice with leftover blood from the poor creature frozen in place and eaten alive.
That could have been all that was left of her, some blood and flesh stuck to the ice to be picked over by scavengers.
How did this happen? She had been there when Gaeric emerged from his chrysalis as a fully formed glalie, blinking dazedly in the afternoon sun with none of the gathered Pearl folk knowing what to say. His expression was one of bewilderment and grief mixed with embarrassment at being seen in such a state by his clan.
âI-I told you guys you didnât need to worry about me!â
It was still the same Gaeric they all knew.
He had looked so sad to Dawn. Maybe she had been a little tactless, but she walked out of the crowd and hugged him, her tiny arms coming nowhere close to wrapping around his massive frame. He resisted at first, looking away abashedly. When she didnât let up, he accepted and looked like he wanted to cry.
Now she couldnât see any trace of humanity in the former warden. She had watched all of them gradually succumb to the strange disease and was forced to accept they werenât really people anymore. But they werenât pokĂ©mon either.
Dawn understood and loved pokĂ©mon; she spent her whole life growing up with and working alongside them. She couldnât understand these mindless beasts hell-bent on eating her.
It was too painful for her to accept they were truly gone. She still held on to the hope that some part of their former selves remained, which was why she was in the Alabaster Icelands in the first place.
Dawn had set out for Snowpoint Temple at Voloâs request, the merchant believing there was likely a plate hidden away somewhere. He promised he would catch up with her, he had just wanted to check something out at the abandoned Pearl Clan settlement first.
When she failed to arrive at the temple, would he go looking for her?
Dawn stumbled and tripped face first into a snow drift, numbly realizing how little feeling she had in her freezing digits. She really needed to find the river before Irida and Gaeric caught up to her. It was her best bet and the water had always been her most reliable means of escape, just so long as Iscan wasnât lurking beneath the surface.
The girl cried out as she was suddenly yanked out of the snow by her scarf and lifted into the air by a massive set of jaws. She frantically tugged at her neckwear, the end caught between flat teeth arranged into a permanent scowl with frosty breath emanating from behind it.
The glalie had materialized out of the storm without warning. One quick snap from such huge teeth and it would all be over, or he could deliver a frozen blast at point blank.
Dawn struggled to loosen her scarf with paws numb from the cold, dreading to see what he would choose. But most of all, she was tired and wanted to give up. Tired of constantly needing to run for her life and barely avoiding being eaten by people she cared about. Tired of searching for solutions in a wild goose chase all across Hisui and everyone expecting her to be able to solve their problems. The cold and exhaustion had sapped her will, dully noting how anticlimactic of an end this would be.
She faintly wondered if there was any part of the warden left to be horrified. Was he watching this unfold, helpless to do anything?
âGaeric, please... Itâs me!â she pleaded weakly.
She squeezed her eyes shut tight in preparation for the killing blow, hoping it would at least be over quickly. The end never came. She heard him whining and gritting his teeth as the red in his eyes faded.
âDawn?â His voice was muffled through the fabric he still held between his teeth.
The warden looked down at the girl with a clarity she hadnât seen in a long time, his mania lifted and mind clear.
It didnât last long, however. Gaeric made a pained expression and started shaking his head and snarling, not thinking about the tiny dewott being swung carelessly side to side as he struggled to keep his thoughts straight.
Acting fast, she finally managed to loosen the scarf and was flung a few feet away into the snow. Dawn stumbled into a run with a renewed determination, pushing past the exhaustion and numbness in her limbs.
Gaeric and the others were still in there somewhere, waiting to be saved. She couldnât give up here!
Dawn managed to put some distance between herself and Gaeric before she heard frustrated shrieking from the glalie, once again in the thrall of his madness. He had lost sight of his prey but knew it couldnât have gone far, searching and howling loudly in a blind rage that never got any further away as she ran. Gaeric was not far behind and could easily catch up to her if she didnât keep moving. She listened closely for the former warden drawing closer and kept a careful watch for any dark shapes in the blizzard or a telltale red crown.
Dawn would have very little warning if Irida attacked her again. She considered the sharpened shells tied securely in the knotted fur at her waist and wondered if she should grab them for defence. Her paw drifted down to one of the scallops. The girl turned dewott was never as fast on the draw as Riptide was, no matter how many times her own dewott tried to show her a proper stance and techniques. Dawn just couldnât stand the thought of taking a blade to someone, slashing at a personâs face, neck or other vulnerable areas. The idea of causing severe and surprising enough pain to escape an assailant filled her with a sick, uneasy anxiety that she panicked and froze at.
She was the champion of Sinnoh, far from a stranger to intense battles, even ones with lives on the line. But even at their most severe, the participants never tried to tear each other to pieces and trainers would withdraw their pokémon if an opponent looked set to maim or kill.
There were no rules of engagement here.
She withdrew her hand and focused on running. It was a terrifying and long several minutes of trudging through snow that was starting to pile up past her waist before she eventually heard the sound of running water.
Yes, salvation!
While looking back over her shoulder, she failed to check what was in front of her and ran straight into an armoured forearm, the collision knocking her flat on her behind. Dawn scrambled back as glowering red eyes from a towering alpha stared down at her through the squall.
An alpha samurott stood tall and imposing before her with an impressive horn that could lance her through and sturdy claws that could crush her with ease. His helmet was adorned with numerous wicked spikes, like a briar thicket sheâd need a pokĂ©mon with Cut to get through.
A second alpha stepped out from behind him to take a look at the newcomer, this one a female. The matriarch had unusually bright red markings for a samurott. Woven around the thorns on her helmet, it made Dawn think of a rose.
Both of them were heavily muscled and littered with nicks and scars like almost every alpha. They had two dewotts accompanying them that were likely their offspring, a brother and a sister.
Of course. I would run right into an outbreak.
The boy had a noticeably fluffy coat and a soft tuft of fur on the top of his head. An expression trying too hard to be serious looked comical on such a cute, round face.
His sister had thick, coarse fur and a hardened glint in her eye. The weathered look of her shells indicated she had a real chip on her shoulder.
Dawn sat there with her teeth chattering and tail tucked between her legs, unsure of her next course of action. The odds of escaping two alpha samurotts in the water or winning a fight against them were slim to none and there was nowhere else to run with Gaeric still after her.
The patriarch of the family walked towards her until he was hovering over the girl and fixed her with an intense look that could silence anyone. He stooped down until his face was level with hers, his eyes betraying no true emotion as he sniffed at the strange looking dewott.
Dawn wasnât sure what he was hoping to find, her eyes nervously flickering between the shell like sheaths on his forearms and the gaps between the otter pokĂ©mon.
He raised his head back up to his full height, his investigation concluded.
âAre you lost?â he asked, surprisingly soft spoken.
âI havenât seen you around before,â his mate added.
Dawn was momentarily at a loss for words.
âI-â
She never got a chance to finish that sentence; the interaction was cut short by banshee like wailing as Gaeric burst onto the scene.
The samurotts had barely any time to react to the sudden intrusion before an enraged Gaeric fired a beam of liquid ice from his mouth, directed at the new, bigger threat. The attack froze on contact, ice coating one of the scabbards on the male alphaâs arm and locking his sword in place.
The samurott family was shocked by the utter lunacy of the strangerâs assault. No pokĂ©mon would attack an entire horde with two alphas looking after their offspring, let alone a glalie after forgoing any attempt at an ambush. Not unless they were utterly desperate or had a death wish.
The otter pokĂ©monsâ surprise did not give Gaeric any meaningful advantage as the patriarch drew his free sword, undaunted by the assailant.
Twin roars rattled the permafrost, the thunderous sounds from right above made Dawn cover her ears. Like all alphas, they bellowed with a sheer power that would have knocked her down if she wasnât already sitting. Dawn scrambled to get out of the way, lest she get trampled by powerful limbs as they charged at their foe.
The two of them ruthlessly slashed at any vulnerable point they could find through Gaericâs icy exoskeleton, any spot left undefended by his sloppy and unfocused attacks. He thrashed about in a rage, mindlessly spewing ice they easily shrugged off and trying to bite at whichever one had most recently drawn his ire.
They seamlessly alternated between all-out assaults, dogging retaliatory attacks and baiting the fool into ignoring their partner, knowing what would best support the other without needing to speak in a well practiced dance.
The male was barely hindered by being limited to one blade, as ceaseless and brutal as his mate. He knew how long he could keep up a barrage of attacks and when to go on the defensive, leaping back or to the side far more nimbly than their bulk would suggest was possible.
To compensate for reduced offensive capacity, he leaned into making precise strikes during the openings provided by his partner, his shell bladeâs jagged edge leaving painful splinters in the cracks and gouges that were starting to appear.
Dawn didnât have the opportunity before now to observe how samurotts with quadruped builds used their swords and she watched the battle with curiosity befitting of a researcher. They sheathed and unsheathed faster than she could blink, their blades never out when it would impede movement.
A dip in their front paws let them place it flat on the ground over the swordsâ hilts with ease, grasping the sword again every time they needed to charge or pivot, as second nature as breathing. Their blades were truly extensions of themselves.
Again and again it looked as though they would be lost in the chaos, but they always remained in their mastersâ possession and Dawn marvelled at how effortlessly they wielded them.
The two alphas would lunge forward with a sword drawn to slash relentlessly or rear up on their hind legs for a heavy blow, the constant barrage tiring Gaeric out.
Their two dewotts didnât stand idly by; they helped their parents wear down the assailant by squirting water from a distance or leaping up to slash with their shell blades whenever there was an opening. Far bolder than her brother, the girl took every chance to strike at their foe and put herself in the thick of the action.
Her brotherâs more cautious approach proved to be more reasonable when she misjudged where Gaericâs attention was focused and he turned quickly to lunge at her for her latest attack.
He opened his mouth and looked set to crunch the tiny dewott with huge jaws with no time for her to escape. Dawn watched in horror as she saw the battle turn disastrous for the poor dewott and her family in an instant. Or it would have, had her mother not gotten there first.
With an impressive burst of speed, she put herself between the glalie and her daughter, taking the attack. Massive teeth locked around the back of her helmet and upper shoulders and Gaeric twisted her back and forth to wrench something painfully. He ignored the meagre water shots from the now cautious dewott as he tried to bite through her motherâs thorny headpiece. The alpha female snarled as Gaeric forced her down into an awkward position with her arms splayed and pinned away from each other, preventing her from drawing her swords.
Her mate bellowed as he sprinted towards his partnerâs assailant, bowling into him with a full body shoulder charge. Gaeric stubbornly held on and the male samurott slammed both front claws on top of his head, using the full weight of his body to push him to the ground.
The dark type drove his blade into a crack in Gaericâs exterior and he hissed in pain as the samurott twisted the blade to pry the plates of his exoskeleton apart. He curled his claws into a fist and smashed his arm over Gaericâs head like a hammer, shattering the ice that covered his scabbard.
The hefty blow to the head finally knocked him loose and forced him to release the female. Gaeric hovered backwards a short distance away from the samurott clan in a daze, reeling from the powerful strike.
Warning yowls that might have sounded a bit ridiculous if one didnât know they could back up the threat arose from the dewotts as the group gave Gaeric the chance to flee. The patriarch pointed with his newly freed sword and gestured for the intruder to leave while his mate howled and stamped on the ground, making it clear it would not end well for him if he chose to keep fighting.
It was hard for Dawn to watch Gaericâs ragged breathing with blood and drool seeping from his mouth, the bitter end result of rage and hunger driving him to fight far past the point of sanity. Looking at the cracked and scarred body of the glalie that was once a man, Gaeric had unquestionably lost. She silently willed him to run away but knew he wouldnât.
The standoff was short lived; as soon as his eyes refocused he made a disgusting gurgling shriek and rushed at the smallest member of the group, the boy dewott. Gaeric fired a subzero blast at close range that encased the fluffy dewott in a solid block of ice, his face frozen in a look of shock.
His mother was completely silent as she slipped behind the ambush predator while her mate snarled and lunged at Gaeric with his head down. The former warden prepared another attack to meet the alpha head on, but was caught by surprise when the female reared up and slammed into him from behind before she wrestled him to the ground. She kept a solid hold on the thrashing glalie whose furious caterwauling turned alarmed at the alphaâs rapid approach.
There was a sickening crackling as Gaeric was skewered by the samurottâs horn, followed by him howling in agony from being stabbed with such force that it pierced through his hard exterior between his left eye and horn.
The samurotts had barely made any noise during the final confrontation with no need for a threat display at that point. Their daughter climbed on top of the ice block and sat down to start chipping away with her shell to free her brother as Gaeric weakly struggled under the samurottsâ hold. Blood dripped down the maleâs horn as Gaericâs struggling grew weaker and he slowly faded into unconsciousness.Â
It was over.
After making sure he was well and truly knocked out, the male pulled his horn out and they released their hold to check on their son. None of the otter pokémon expressed any particular horror at what had transpired, instead they were all rather nonchalant now that the danger had passed.
Dawn trepidly inched toward Gaeric to take a closer look as the alphas puzzled over how to free the trapped dewott.
His laboured breathing was concerning, though it reassured her the warden wasnât dead. The gash in his head was a ragged wound, but not as deep as she feared. One of the branches of the alphaâs horn must have prevented it from going too far in, otherwise it could have killed him.
Pokémon were pretty hardy creatures and recovered from injuries quickly, even in the wild. If this were a proper trainer battle, a glalie in this state would have been recalled and kept safely in stasis until they could receive proper care and attention. Gaeric would have to make do with hiding until his wounds healed on their own.
When it was clear the PokéRus victims were a danger to those around them, keeping them in pokéballs was proposed as a safety measure until a solution could be found. But none of the infected could go into balls, no matter how hard anyone tried. It just bounced off of them like it would on a human or inanimate object. Professor Laventon learned that somewhat painfully when he volunteered to be the first test subject and got nothing to show for it except for some welts and bruises.
âI would keep my distance if I were you,â the male samurott said, startling Dawn out of her train of thought.
She was so wrapped up in her own concerns that she didnât notice him approach. His mate had decided to sever the ice block at its base and she was now carrying it tucked under one forearm. The alpha kept advancing towards Gaeric and drew his sword.
Was he going to kill him?
âNo!â Dawn shouted as she ran to stand between the samurott and Gaeric, her arms thrown out to the side in a feeble attempt to shield him.
âStand aside please.â
âBut you canât just kill him! Youâve already won!â she protested.
âMy dear, Iâm afraid this glalie has gone quite mad. It would be the kindest thing to do,â the matriarch spoke up.
âWhen pokĂ©mon fall victim to diseases that cause such madness, thereâs nothing else that can be done for them.â the male said, mindful of the fact he was speaking to a child, still ignorant to the harsh realities of the world.
âThere are illnesses that make pokĂ©mon foam at the mouth and attack anyone with no provocation or self-preservation. They can never recover or have any quality of life.â He spoke as though he had given similar explanations several times before.
âItâs okay, you donât have to watch,â his mate said, as if that was the issue.
Dawn stomped her foot in frustration. âHe doesnât have rabies! Look, you can see heâs not foaming at the mouth.â
The samurott narrowed his eyes, starting to get annoyed by her insolence.
âThereâs many illnesses that cause pokĂ©mon to lose their minds. Itâs best if heâs put out of his misery before it spreads to any others.â
âBut it doesnât spread from person to person! Itâs caused by exposure to spacetime anomalies.â Dawn said.
He remained unimpressed.
âTruthfully, I donât believe it matters what caused it. Heâs danger to everyone around him. Whatâs important is us and our children.â
âHave you seen anyone with this disease make a recovery?â his mate asked pointedly.
â...No,â Dawn was forced to admit. âBut that doesnât mean itâs not possible. The Nobles were driven mad, and they got better. Theyâre my friends and Iâm going to find a cure for them!â
The alpha rolled his eyes in exasperation.
âMove out of the way.â He was done arguing.
âI wonât.â Her voice cracked embarrassingly under his steady, intent glare. âI-if you w-want to kill him, y-youâll have to kill m-m-me too.â
She had made her ultimatum without truly considering the consequences, but seeing how coldly he regarded her, Dawn realized he might decide that her terms were acceptable.
His claws tightened around the hilt and he thrust the sword beside her then made a slow sweeping motion that pushed her to the side with the flat of the blade, toppling her over.
Dawn sputtered indignantly as the alpha walked past her and raised his sword to finish the deed. If she couldnât say or do anything that would stay his hand, Gaeric would die.
âHeâs under Lord Avaluggâs protection!â
That caught his attention. He turned away from his would-be victim and looked her straight in the eye, searching for any trace of deception. Dawn rose to her feet and forced herself not to look away.
âIs that so?â
âY-yes. You can ask Avalugg yourself. Theyâre all under the Noblesâ protection. Him-â she pointed at Gaeric. â-and all the others like him.â
The alpha reluctantly sheathed his sword. âVery well. I canât say that I understand his reasoning for letting them run amok.â
His mate frowned and shook her head. âWeâll have to ask him about that.â
The patriarch turned to his partner and daughter. âWeâre leaving.â
As the otter pokémon faded from view into the snow, Dawn allowed herself to breathe a sigh of relief. She looked up and the alpha was still standing tall above her, staring down at her with harsh red eyes. The girl barely dared to breathe as she silently panicked over what unfinished business he had with her.
âTake care getting home.â
With that, he walked away and the samurott clan disappeared into the squall.
Dawn was scarcely even aware of her journey back to the Pearl Clan settlement, spending the entire trip ruminating on her recent ordeals with practically one foot in the river.
A familiar togekiss with a golden sheen to its plumage and a large backpack was circling above the camp. The merchant was on the lookout and quickly spotted the dewott entering the abandoned settlement, swooping down to greet her.
âThereâs my favourite customer! I was starting to think Iâd have to go search for you out in this blizzard,â Volo exclaimed.
âSorry Volo, I ran into some trouble on the way,â she said tiredly.
Dawn recounted to the merchant how she was ambushed and driven out into the icelands before having to save Gaeric from the samurott outbreak.
âIt sounds like youâve had quite a day so far, but itâs good to know our wayward wardens are safe in your capable hands,â Volo said, as upbeat as ever. âLetâs hope our expedition to Snowpoint Temple is less eventful.â
He still planned on having her explore the temple today? It was the reason they came out here, even if Dawn wanted nothing more than to lie down and sleep for a week.
âYeah, okay,â she reluctantly agreed.
âItâs no surprise youâre the star member of the Survey Corps with your work ethic. But donât let Kamando work you too hard.â Volo cautioned, like she had any choice in the matter.
Kamando had always told her she had to work herself down to the bone to dispel any doubts people had about her. Dawn thought she had done that after quelling all the frenzied Nobles, but fate must have had it out for her because the PokéRus situation took a turn for the worst.
She was on extremely thin ice after she had earned the blessings of the lake trio and had been given the power to save three people from their fates. It was barely even a question, of course she chose the team of researchers that had always been in her corner: Rei, Laventon and Cyllene.
The faction leaders were shocked that none of them had been chosen and most of Hisui resented her for choosing to let them fall victim to the disease. Many people in Jubilife blamed her for all the recent crises, whispering about how the girl that fell from the sky brought nothing but bad luck and Kamando was a fool for letting her stay.
The spacetime rifts, the frenzied Nobles and everyone loosing their minds as they turned into pokémon; she had to be the one to fix this and find a permanent solution if she wanted a home at all.
Volo extended a wing and used it to guide her back to the campâs entrance. Unbeknownst to her, his travel pack contained a lustrous, pearl like globe that glowed faintly with power.
 -----------------------------------------------------------
âShe speaks the truth. I donât want any harm coming to that glalie or any others under the same mania.â
Lord Avaluggâs voice reverberated deeply as the samurotts stood before his dais for an audience with the Lord of the Tundra. The male stepped forward to speak.
âMay I ask you why?â
âDo you recall the humans that would tend to us. Our wardens?â
âVaguely, but I wonât pretend that I fully understand why they serve you or what they are to you.â
âThe mad alphas used to be those humans.â The samurott pair exchanged surprised and concerned looks at the news. âUs Nobles were graced with power to serve them and we are duty bound to protect them.â
âA disease that makes humans turn into pokĂ©mon? Iâve never heard of such a thing,â the female said in disbelief.
âI know itâs hard to believe, but Iâve witnessed it myself. Each Noblesâ warden was gradually changed into a different pokĂ©mon and lost their minds in the process.â
The male stared at the lord quizzically. âSo you would let them run rampant and endanger human settlements as well as pokĂ©mon? It seems odd to me to go to such lengths for a chef and babysitter.â
Avalugg narrowed his eyes, but chose to ignore the dismissive way the alpha spoke of his warden.
âEvery human in Hisui is succumbing to the same ailment. If we gave up on them and decided there was no solution but putting them down, there would be no humans left to protect,â the lord explained.
The girl dewott poked around Avaluggâs unused dais, already bored of the adultsâ conversation.
âThatâs quite concerning,â the matriarch said. âThe pokĂ©mon under your watch wonât be pleased that youâre letting mad alphas rampage across Hisui. Do you have any plans in place for how they can protect themselves and their children?â
âThe dewott you met earlier is the same human that freed me and the other Nobles from our frenzies. We have placed our faith in her to help our wardens and I have utmost confidence in her abilities,â Avalugg said.
Sensing they were not placated by such a vague promise, he added: âI truly am sorry about what happened to your son. We will do everything in our power to protect others from their destructive urges until the situation is resolved.â
Their son was still shivering after being freed from the ice by some helpful snorunts at Avaluggâs behest. His father fixed the lord with a pointed look before speaking.
âWe passed through the coast lands on the way here and a good portion of the surrounding forests were reduced to ashes.â
That would have been caused by the warden to the newly appointed Lord of the Isles. The young Lord Arcanine stepped up to fill the position during very trying times and with no guidance from the previous Noble or warden to tend to him, he was going to have quite a challenging tenure.
âAfter the frenzy you and the other Nobles had, many pokĂ©mon are already questioning your judgment and leadership,â the male samurott continued. âNow you want them to put up with rampaging alphas destroying their homes and attacking everyone in sight. If they lost their respect for the Nobles, what would you do?â
Lord Avalugg had no answer.
The Nobles, though powerful, were not invincible and enough pokémon turning against them would undermine everything they worked to achieve.
Lord Avalugg was colossal, one of the only titanic avaluggs left, and dwarfed the otter pokémon that stood before him. They would stand no chance in a fight against him, but that balance of power could shift quickly.
The lord kept his gaze even while deciding if their words were a veiled threat or merely a warning borne of courtesy. The male samurott shrugged and looked away.
âWe havenât forgotten our place, but the pokĂ©mon of Hisui are going to want solutions. If putting the mad alphas to death is not an option to you, youâll need some other plan.â
âThe others will only let this continue for so long before they take matters into their own hands,â his mate added.
They were right, of course. Avalugg and most of the Nobles preferred not to pull rank or appeal to force as that tended to build resentment. They would rather earn the respect of their fellow pokémon through deeds and action, keeping violence minimal and strategic.
Attacking the humans under their protection or causing other sorts of trouble for the Nobles always carried an assumed risk, but if the dangers of doing nothing outweighed the risks of angering them, their decrees would mean nothing and the people of Hisui would fall apart under their watch.
There was nothing left for any of the gathered pokémon to say. The alpha samurott bowed and turned to leave.
âThank you for your time, but we must be going now.â
âTake care and safe travels.â
Their meeting was adjourned and the samurott clan left, leaving Lord Avalugg with a bitter feeling at the impossible situation he was in.

Have you reviewed the snorunt line? Froslass is my face
I already reviewed Froslass over here, but as for the rest of the line:
Snorunt's probably one of my favorite ice-types. It's cute, it's unique, it has a great design, and it even has a great shiny (that I was lucky enough to catch in PLA).
The inspiration behind this one might be a bit obtuse to American audiences, but it's based off a yukinko (a yokai that appears during snow and wears a yuki mino, which is a conical snow coat). It also has a few elements of a zashiki-warashi mixed in there with the whole "bringing fortunes to homes" thing:
Visually, its one of our only triangular Pokemon, and this alone makes it pretty distinctive. The blue eyes pop nicely and help to indicate its ice typing, and the black body draws attention to the middle of the design where the face is. Said black also contrasts nicely with the yellow and orange accents of the straw coat. The back, meanwhile, has a few diamonds on it that reflect the triangular shape. It's simple, it's unique, the theme is clear, and the colors are great. A winner in my book.
I hear a lot of people say that Glalie doesn't look anything like Snorunt, but I actually see a lot of similarities, They're both shapes, just with Glalie being a circle instead of a triangle. They both have blue eyes and the same style of mouth. Their bodies are both black (Glalie's 'dex stating its body is made of rock covered in ice), and both have inlaid faces. Obviously the shape and color scheme are drastically different, but it's not like they have nothing in common.
Visually, Glalie isn't bad, though I don't like it quite as much as Snorunt. Instead of a yukinko it's now more oni-esq, sporting horns and looking more like a floating snowball or hailstone. It's honestly kind of low-key terrifying, not helped by the 'dex casually mentioning how it freezes prey solid and then eats the frozen corpse. Lovely.
Visually, the blue eyes pop and the white contrasts nicely with the black accents. However, I do find myself missing Snorunt's lovely colors; I could easily see the eyes here being white and the body blue instead, which would still look icy while keeping some color in there. I'm also not as big on the holes in the body; there's a few too many of them and it clutters the design a bit compared to Snorunt just having one hole in the front. I think I prefer Froslass to it overall even if it doesn't match Snorunt as much as an evo, but Glalie is fine for what it is.
Finally, we have Mega Glalie. Right off the bat, it fixes the color issue I had by showing ice peaking through the horns on the head, of which it now possesses three (with the new one coming out of the hole regular Glalie has above its eyes, which is nice continuity). It also adds red pupils and cuts down on the amount of holes; all welcome changes.
Probably the most notable thing about it is that its jaw is completely broken and just hangs open all the time, casually spilling out freezing cold air. The 'dex makes this sound more like an annoyance than a major problem for it, but it still takes Glalie's creepiness and cranks it up to ten.
However, the jaw is where it starts to loose me a bit. The bottom teeth look 2-dimensional and out of place, and having the entire jaw be so spiky makes the design look more cluttered than it really is. I also don't love the entire jaw being black; it overtakes the face area a bit too much (I guess it's supposed to look like an oni beard? maybe??). It also adds two white... things, which don't add anything to the design.
I like the overall direction of this thing and the upper half looks pretty dang good, but the bottom half doesn't hit as well. If they dropped the bottom teeth (maybe give it a pattern that makes it interlock with the above jaw to emphasize the broken idea), smoothed out the jaw and made it more white, and made those two pointy things at the bottom black "reflections" of the horns up top, that might've worked. As is, it's an interesting take, but a relatively poor execution, and is probably the weakest design out of the four.
Overall, I really enjoy Snorunt and think it's a pretty perfect design. Glalie is a fun monster but doesn't have quite as solid of a design, and the mega's a bit too incoherent to really improve upon the original. As a whole, while the line could stand to be more coherent, I like these weird as hell snow creatures and wish them the best of luck in their people-eating ways.

What do you think the mk1 characters pokemon would be? (in earthrealm since i dunno if outworld could have pokemons)
IMO bihan could have a glalie or something lol and liu kang would maybe have a shiny gyarados.
oh god I did a whole list for pokemon I associate with genshin characters let me do this for mk1. I'll try to explain my thoughts as best I can but these are pokemon I just kinda think would fit with them, whether it be oh them as a pokemon or a pokemon I think would work with them well.
Liu Kang - Reshiram
He's a god, I just HAD to give him a legendary pokemon. Reshiram fits both the dragon and fire stuff he is associated with. Plus Reshiram being the pokemon representing truth makes sense (though I kinda think ideals fit better for Liu Kang, I like the matching with Reshiram more).
Sub Zero - Chein-Pao
I like the ice vibe with this pokemon, and the description feels like it vibes enough with me. "The hatred of those who perished by the sword long ago has clad itself in snow and become a Pokémon." Idk!! I think he'd look neat with it :).
Scorpion - Centiskorch
I tried to incorporate some ideas of bug into the pokemon since the existing scorpion pokemon aren't that funky imo. I had to go with a fire type because, yeah, so this is what I settled with. I think I could have done better but eh none of the other fire pokemon imo fit his vibe.
Kitana - Oricorio Sensu form
Elegant, has flying elements, matches with the new feather aesthetic they put in 1, and the wings kinda look like fans! I think it's neat :)
Johnny Cage - Incineroar
This is mostly because of smash bro's influence but this pokemon is a heel archetype. They're showy, cocky, and like to taunt others! I think it kinda works. There's probably another show offy pokemon that's slipping my mind though.
Kenshi - Honedge
I wanted to give him Aegislash but there is no shield on Kenshi so oh well LMAO. I also think that the pokedex entry fits well "Honedgeâs soul once belonged to a person who was killed a long time ago by the sword that makes up Honedgeâs body." So yeah!!
Kung Lao - Honchkrow
I'll be honest. It's just the hat. But I think this man could use a funky bird. Idk!! I think he'd like a bird :)
Mileena - Mawile
I like the steel theming along with the jaw parts in Mawile. I thought it'd be neat to give Mileena a pokemon that can mega evolve since despite how cool it looks it apparently hurts them, which fits with Tarkat. "It has an extremely vicious disposition. It grips prey in its two sets of jaws and tears them apart with raw power."
Raiden -Jolteon
Had to go with an electric type. Idk! I think the idea of Raiden turning from a simple farmer (think eevee) and turning into an electric user fits!
Rain - Slowking
I had to go with a water type, and i also went with a psychic type because of the whole mage thing! I think the pokedex entry would appeal to Rain's ambition well too, "When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpokeâs head and unlocked an extraordinary power."
Smoke - Torkoal
Has the ability white smoke, and can learn smoke screen. Idk! I think it fits better than stunky line or wheezing line. There's not much in the way of pokemon with a smoke theme.
Li Mei - Arcanine
It's the pokemon (well, growlithe is) that is associated with the police in the pokemon world. That, and it kind of resembles a tiger which is part of the lion dog she uses. I do wish there was a better pokemon that is closer to fireworks than Blacepheon but oh well.
Baraka - Mega Houndoom
I like the idea of a leader of the pack pokemon, one that is dark type. I made the idea of a pokemon that is mega permanently since it fits with the whole "thing that is hurting them" and when it is mega evolved houndoom can hurt itself with how hot it's inner temperature can get. "Its red claws and the tips of its tail are melting from high internal temperatures that are painful to Houndoom itself."
Tanya - Tsareena
Thought it'd be appropiate to give her a pokemon that is a female only line. I also think it'd fit her being a more "ruthless" pokemon to match her willingness to fight those who might hurt the royal family "This feared Pokémon has long, slender legs and a cruel heart. It shows no mercy as it stomps on its opponents."
Geras - Celebi
I thought it'd be cool to give him a mythical pokemon since he's pretty close to godhood/will become the next keeper of time. That, and the whole time thing fits too.
Reptile - Krookodile
Crocodile, that's pretty much it.
Havik - Staryu
It fits the whole regeneration thing. "As long as the center section is unharmed, it can grow back fully even if it is chopped to bits." and "An enigmatic Pokémon that can effortlessly regenerate any appendage it loses in battle." Also I think it's a nice call back to when Chaosrealm worshipped water
Ashrah - Togekiss
I thought it'd be nice to give a pokemon that looks like an angelic theming (well, as close as it gets). Idk I think they'd get along :)
Sindel - Exploud
Screaming. Uh, that's really it! I also think it fits her commanding prescence I guess haha ^^ I couldn't find a pokemon that fits her hair thing so we're going with her screaming.
Shao - Bisharp
It commands pokemon, and looks like it fits the vibe of a general as well! Plus it'd match with his axe. "This pitiless Pokémon commands a group of Pawniard to hound prey into immobility. It then moves in to finish the prey off."
Nitara - Gliscor
Resembles a vampire bat. Also according to Legends Arceus, it does this: "It glides soundlessly on pitch-black wings and sinks sharp fangs into the throat of its prey. It takes on a look of satisfaction once it has entirely drained its prey of blood."
Shang Tsung - Arbok
Snake theming. I also like how the stomach can be used to transfix others and to intimidate them so it can poison others. Feels befitting.
Reiko - Pawniard
Fits the whole thing with Shao's pokemon and how it is loyal and ruthless. Follows him no matter what, I think it makes sense to me.

hi charm !! whats the rest of maris pokemon team ? :o ur last post had me rly interested
clara ohmygosh hii ! waves you're always so nice sending me asks abt her hehe i'm so happyy tyy . . đ„șđ©”
i still haven't um , exactly worked it out , aha ; because she's not like an ' average ' trainer - she's v unexceptional at battles / catching so i imagine most of her team she's either befriended or been ' gifted ' ( if that makes sense ? ) but she def has her espurr who she babies ! ( he's been with her the longest hehe he's her bebe boy đ„č sweetie pie . . ) a corviknight which was inherited from her grandmother when it was a corvisquire alongside her flower press and eventually gets a carbink once she moves to kalos ~
probably also a gothorita , seeing as it's unovan ? ( all of her pkmn evolve super slowly i imagine because she . . doesn't really battle hehe ) and a lumineon + illumise because they seem relatively docile ( just ignore lumineons dex entry i prommy she's nice !! ) and they'd be super amazing in contests i personally think đ©”đ©” um , i'm not sure how she got him yet but she has a glalie too but he's benched atm for lore reasons , i'm thinking maybe once the kyurem attack happened a lot of ice pkmn ended up being given away or abandoned ? so maybe that's how she comes about him hehe ( now i want to work on this part of lore eeeek i'm going to do it rn ! )

Pokemon Horizons Episode 24 Review - Diana And Terapagos
After two weeks, Horizons is back! Although this is the final episode of the first arc (Liko and Royâs Departure), it feels more of a buildup rather than a closure. We meet Likoâs grandmother Diana, we learn of Terapagos, and the Explorers are going out of their way to become scarier threats with the way theyâre gathering their admins.
After so much buildup, Diana is finally introduced in the flesh. She is an adventurer as she started her adventures due to finding the pendant and Luciusâs diary in her familyâs attic one day and decided to set out. As she got older, she gave up on finding about the secrets of Lucius, but still had the adventurerâs spirit at heart, which was why she still traveled around. The last time she saw Liko was a year before Likoâs story where she had visited Paldea and gave her the pendant as a good luck charm for school. At the time, she had no idea the pendant harbored Terapagos. As a character, Diana seems like a very cool person. I like that she still chases after her passion, adventuring, even at her old age. While she is finally introduced, I do feel as if she was mainly present for upcoming plot points and foreshadowing. She knows what Terapagos is; she knows what Rakua is. She knows that the Explorers are after the pendant. I just find it annoying that the writers build all these up and then get interrupted constantly, whether it be Fuecoco becoming hungry or the actual Explorers intruding into her house. I just hope this isnât the last we see of Diana. I want to see more of her next episode!
I do like that thanks to Diana, we do get to learn a lot about Terapagos. Diana mentions that the form she saw in a book was much biggerâwhich is hinted at the existence of the Scarlet/Violet book. Terapagos was most definitely Luciusâs companion. Regardless, while a lot was given, there are still things we do not know about this turtle Pokemon. Terapagos seems to be familiar with Diana, yet she never knew it was inside the pendant. I guess Terapagos familiarizes with the wielder, even if it does not show up in front of them. Personality-wise, it is very cute and childlike. I find it amusing how Liko decides to carry Terapagos, Hatenna and Sprigatito all at once in different locations. There are going to be so many âLiko is swole AFâ memes once Terapagosâs official weight is revealed.
The Explorers are building up to be even bigger threats than before now. Spinel was easily the scariest of the admins during his stint. Now, Hamber is building up to be even scarier than him with the way his bangs reveal that the covered one has been open all the time while the uncovered one is purposely closed. His partner is a Dusknoir. He recruited the help of Onyx and Sango to pursue Terapagos. Onyxâs partner is Garganacl while Sangoâs is Glalie, surprisingly. Spinel and Agate stated to be doing something in a lab, which is why theyâre inactive. Amethio and his goons are back into the pendant search after he showed Hamber the video of Terapagos. I do hope we get backstories of why these guys are in the Explorers. Iâd like to learn more about them.
Horizons really loves ending episodes with cliffhangers. I just hope nothing important is skipped over like how Episodes 22 and 23 did with 22 ending in a cliffhanger and 23 starting with Friede already out of the mine. If something like that happens again, I will riot. Anyways, what are your thoughts to this episode?

Thanâs for the Pokemon AU question ok here one thing that I thought what kind of Battle Mechanic Phenomenon our Sing Trainers would be using like Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax, or Terastalâ
Of course, i'm glad you liked the others! I'm so sorry for the delay in answering this one but I hope you still enjoy it! - <3 Gooseless
------------------------
There aren't that many trainers that actually fight in the Pokémon AU, as most characters are Performers. However, of the list of trainers, here's their battle mechanics I do think they would use!
However, since these aren't super common in the actual world of Pokémon, most of them won't have any, so just a warning. Also a warning, I'm giving out so many non official forms of Pokémon on this list... and since I know nothing about Terastal forms, I will not be including them just to be sure I don't mess up.
------------------------
Buster: Z-Moves (Rockium Z) with Sudowoodo
Eddie: None, doesn't battle much.
Mrs. Crawly: Gigatamax Machop.
Wildan (Meena's Grandfather): Mega Evolved Swampert.
Tahiyat (Meena's Grandmother): Mega Evolved Camerupt.
Aamanee (Meena's Mom): None, doesn't battle much.
Marcus: Mega Evolved Blastoise.
Stan: Z-Moves (Fightinium Z) with Hawlucha.
Barry: Z-Moves (Waterium Z) with Prinplup.
Jimmy: Gigatamax Glalie (I know it doesn't exist but it would be cool).
Jerry: None, doesn't battle much.
Judith: None.
Hobbs: Mega Evolved Gallade.
Mizuki: None.
Alfonso: None.
Nancy: None.
Suki: Mega Evolved Meowstic (I know it doesn't exist but it would be cool).

Empires Pokemon Pt. 1 Empires Pokeballs Quick note before I start: Each Emperor has one member of their team shiny, simply because I felt like it. The teams are usually fully evolved, unless I'm keeping a pokemon unevolved because it fits the character better. Here's Pix, Scott, and Xornoth.
Pix: Heliolisk, Copperajah, Litwick, Cacturne, Bronzong, Sandslash Heliolisk is Pix's first pokemon, really his known partner pokemon, named Helios. Helios is male, and is kept in a Desert Ball. Copperajah is named Copper, is male, and is in -oh so surprisingly- a Copper Ball. He helps Pix transport trades. Litwick has been an unevolved Litwick for longer than Pix has been alive. Her name is Vigilant, and is also in a Copper Ball. Cacturne is Phantasmal, the pokemon he used as the Phantom. For that reason, he's kept in a Blade Ball. Bronzong's name is Patina, and they work with the beeswax and copper aging. They're in a Honeycomb Ball. Sandslash is shiny, and is named Anthill. She's a great help in getting materials for Pix and is kept in a Desert Ball. Scott: Ninetales, Froslass, Wyrdeer, Abomasnow, Ampharos, Noctowl Surprisingly, Vulp, Scott's partner, is a fire type Ninetales. He's shiny though, so it's hard to tell. Very petty. He's in an Ancient Ball. Froslass is named Gold from when she was a Snorunt. She makes up for this by stealing Scott's jewelry. She's in a Misted Ball. Wyrdeer is simply called Stag, often ridden by Scott ceremonially. A little bit vain, he's in a Misted Ball as well. Abomasnow is Evergreen, and she's fond of helping Scott build and remember to take breaks. She's in a Frosted Ball. Ampharos is actually a Mega Ampharos, very fluffy. His name is Snowball and he's lazy. Also in a Frosted Ball. Noctowl's name is Moonlight, and is Scott's preferred form of communication. As such, he's in a Messenger Ball. Xornoth: Houndoom, Glalie, Seviper, Zoroark, Salamance, Guzzlord Xornoth's first pokemon was a Houndoom called Hound. Him and Vulp were once close friends. He's also in an Ancient Ball. Glalie is named Silver from when he was a Snorunt, given he's shiny. His red eyes are fitting now. He's in a Misted Ball. Seviper is a very tricky pokemon, called Whisper. She has a connection to Exor, and is a Corrupted Ball. He has Shadow, a Hisuian Zoroark, which helps him conjure illusions of despair or power against others. She's in a Magic Ball. Salamance's name actually is Power, and he's the real strength along with all the demonic trickery. Also in a Corrupted Ball. Guzzlord is called Ending, because that the goal with it is. Shrub especially hates this pokemon. It's in a Gnomish Ball. Notes: I'm a little sad Pix doesn't get a "seer" physic pokemon, but Bronzor worked better. If Frosted/Misted pokeballs are confusing to you, they're hard for me to. Blame Pearl for using the word Gilded in her Empire's name, because that was the original name for Misted. Vulp and Hound are named that because the Rivendell siblings got them at about five years old so they wouldn't die of hypothermia, and the two of them were already pretentious enough to call them that. Scott and Xornoth's teams are meant to be mostly parallels for each other. Ninetales and Houndoom as fire "partners", alternative Snorunt evos, Wyrdeer and Seviper as godly influences (Even if Exor isn't a snake), Abomasnow and Zoroark both act as "helpers" in their tasks, Ampharos and Salamance are dual dragons, as well as representing what Scott and Xornoth offer others (Wool trade and "power"). Now if that last one was a bit of a stretch, there's also no comparison between Noctowl and Guzzlord. Ampharos is permanently in Mega Form, because I feel like ignoring poke-lore about how Megas work so that Scott may have a fluffy sheep and also a matching dragon type. I'll explain more about how Ultra Beasts work when we get to Shrub's team, although you might be able to make a guess. Hope you enjoyed my brainrot! If you have any opinions or suggestions, please let me know! Coming Soon: Jimmy, Lizzie, and Joel.
