Even if he gave his life he could not stop Zoraal Ja's army. He could only hope to buy whoever was waiting on the other side of the Dome a little more time... A few more days, perhaps. A few more minutes.

I was so excited I got to commission my friend @beewiildered again! This time a moment from Alphinaud's desperate attempt to sabotage or otherwise delay Zoraal Ja's efforts. I can't sing Alex's praises enough, they always hone right in one what I imagined and elevate it to another level! ♥♥♥

anyway, I tried something new.

this was supposed to be jason grace but all his recognizable features are on other parts of him. i did add lightning and cloud shaped highlights in his eyes though.

completely new to this style. the glasses are based on mine because i could not figure out how to draw square lenses for the life of me.

Imagine they look on in horror as he smiles one last time and says, “tell Penelope I said goodbye” before his body is filled with so much electricity that his skin burns in an instant, lets out the most gut-wrenching scream they’ve ever heard even after 10 years of war, and collapses onto the ships floor.

Imagine they get back to Ithaca, without their captain, surrounded by the citizens of a king who doesn’t exist anymore.

Imagine Ctimene embracing Eurylochus with all her energy, then looking to find her brother.

Imagine Penelope, weary with sleepless nights, running to them, crying to see her husband again, 13 year old Telemachus following behind her, clinging to her skirts.

Imagine the crew turning to avoid her gaze, only Eurylochus being able to face her with the words: “he said he loved you until his dying breath.”

Imagine Penelope collapsing and screaming like Odysseus did, like she’d been struck down by Zeus as he had. Ctimene and Telemachus trying to comfort her. Ctimene crying herself.

Just imagine it.

One of the most amusing parts of going back and reading the earlier issues of this series is finding out that Wally and Linda, whom I became familiar with when they're already in a pretty stable relationship, start off like they're in some kind of 90s rom-com and we get remarks like this from the future husband/father of three.

Anyways the sages from the ancient past! I wanted to design them, especially without the helmets on! I don’t have any ideas for names. I wanted to name them after the divine beasts but those guys are named after the sages from oot, and I’m not contradicting lore like this game enjoys doing so…. I’ll figure it out.

Anyways some character traits for them:

The Sage of lighting: a very tough woman who takes battle very seriously and comes off as cruel. She’s strong in battle and can kill an enemy with her glare.

The Sage of water: the leader type. She’s confident in her own abilities but also in others, and encourages them to unlock their true potential. She’s kind but can also be very sarcastic.

The sage of wind: a more laidback kind of guy. He enjoys messing around with different kinds of weapons and works well with different flavors of people since he’s more chill. He’s quite confident but not arrogant, and is quite kind to others while simultaneously being incredibly obnoxious.

The Sage of fire: the most gentle soul you’ll ever meet. There’s a reason why I modeled him after Iroh 💀 he’s extremely kind and emotionally supportive, and he notices things that typically go unnoticed

The sages seem to share the same personalities as the champions, and I wanted them to be their own people so I honestly gave them the opposite personalities lol (sort of). Since they’ll be interacting with the champions themselves, I don’t want them to feel like carbon copies. So yeah! Hated drawing them <3

I was busy with my new obsession until I thought of something and now I have a little idea.

What if the entire royal family has vision problems or needs something to cover their eyes.

They have golden eyes! They must have very little melanin or absolutely no melanin, they must be very careful so that they do not go permanently blind.

Now I imagine royals being vampires who hide from the sun (yes, very ironic) while constantly putting drops in their eyes and wearing sunglasses.

My head has been swimming with all sorts of thoughts about everyone's reactions and how I wanna write it up VS making screenshots but!!

There's definitely a sense of loss? A grief? Watching your kids grow up is one thing, and I think she's a very mature lady and graciously accepts that and enjoys watching where her children are going, but suddenly having a jump of thirty years is like... whew.

And in some (most?) ways it's more about what HE went through, the one who actually felt the weight of those years and that distance. And then there's just the relief and gratitude that he's alive, that he's healthy and safe. And that of course is the most important thing above all, and the thing she ends up holding on to, along with the sense of pride in how well he's grown up and overcome everything - even though she sorely wishes it hadn't happened to him.

So initially there is a period of grieving and motherly guilt at the immensity of this change and the ramifications it has on his life, and yeah this guilt of 'You endured thirty years and it's only been months for me and there's no genuine way I can make that easier for you, except, to be here for you.' So she quickly sets that aside to focus on being supportive and helping him with any re-adjusting. And honestly, she probably covertly spoils him a little extra, now. 😂
