general hcs for Ikkaku (nanbaka)

warnings: nanbaka manga spoilers! also.. might be a little ooc..

Some manga spoilers !!

His hair is fried. Period. It quite literally stands up on its own and even has little lightning shapes, humbly this man needs to condition the shit outta of his hair. His hair hates to see him using his powers.

When thinking of ideas for tattoos, he has a little sketchbook for carrying around tattoo designs he thinks of (usually in his cave where Kojiro finds him hiding out a lot). Ikkaku especially does this when he needs a break from the rest of the Shiki members.

Despite Ikkaku’s “rude” way of speaking, Ikkaku is stupidly smart. We have seen this with him purposefully limiting his power to sneak “under the radar” when he went to Nanba prison! (He’s just a little.. dumb)

Cannot stand shirts. 💀 Brody already has a tough time with putting pants, he is NOT putting on a shirt.

Hypothetically, if he put on one of those button-up shirts, they would just pop tf open. Or they would be straining for their LIVES

On that note, he think he looks COOL. Gets bothered when the rest of the Shiki members (mostly Mei) tell him to put something else on. Let the man get his fashion era on

At this point, the local sake store employees know this man’s order by heart. he will singlehandedly keep all the sake stores in the area in business along with Kojiro who drinks with him 😭

LOVES to annoy the absolute fuck out of Isou, though he likes to bicker with everyone. Bickering is his favorite activity when he’s at the base

That reminds me, he LOVES playing devil’s advocate. This man loves to argue, fight, he eats it up EVERYTIME

Speaking of fighting, this man is BORED. He would be the type to go out and fight someone just for the sake of fighting 💀 Ikkaku is clutching onto Musashi and Uoza, giggling and kicking his feet as he remembers their fights and power

When he fights, I’m sorry but he doesn’t care if you’re a girl, boy, they, or whatever. He’s gonna DESTROY you with the same amount of force as he fights with everyone else. He thinks it’s stupid to hold back just because of someone’s gender 🤧

Despite his initial “I hate everyone” attitude, he really cares for the people he admires and considers a friend. Example, Kojiro. It really upset Ikkaku to see someone who he had become close friends with get taken advantage by the Man with the Scar and Elf, so he had to step in and remind his buddy Kojiro not to follow Elf’s way.

Following that tangent, Ikkaku wants freedom which is why he is so adamant on freeing himself and possibly others with powers (if they follow) from not only Nanba prison but also Shiki. (Though he still very much wants revenge on the Man with the Scar)

Ikkaku, despite the rocky start with how his powers came to be, enjoys and indulges in his power, unlike Musashi (a nice parallel between the two). Ikkaku is not afraid or ashamed of his powers and condemns Musashi for feeling that way. Ikkaku sees his power as a sign of strength and a tool to be used to prevent himself from feeling chained.

With the little information we got on Ikkaku’s backstory, other than the fact he was in the military when he was younger (he looks younger in the manga panels). I feel as though Ikkaku had been treated like a weapon similar to his treatment as an adult, a feeling which he despised and went rogue on, LIKE Ikkaku running and separating himself from Shiki in present Nanbaka.

On a lighter note, he does not care about his appearance whatsoever. He didn’t care when Shin complimented his face 😮‍💨 he does not see the appeal in his appearance (which is a shame because HE��S SO HOT)

When there’s no sake, Ikkaku will resort to melon soda. Can crush the soda can in one hand 🤭

He is VERY precise when giving tattoos. Will not look up unless it is DONE. He takes his tattoos with pride and you know damn well they are gonna look good after he’s done.

Probably gave Kojiro a shark tattoo, or was tempted to when he heard Kojiro talking about a possible tattoo of his sharks.

Will claim with all of his heart, that crocodile doesn’t taste like chicken

Sometimes Ikkaku has to go out and hunt crocodiles because he gets a craving 🤧 (poor lil’ guy) he would fight the croc with bare hands to show who’s superior

Very flexible, use this information as you will.

Has different ear piercings! I feel like he would be the type to “test his strength” by getting piercings that are supposed to hurt the “most”.

Will refuse to put on any shoes. Like the shirt situation, he doesn’t like the way it feels 😭He MIGHT put on sandals if he is pestered enough. He would be complaining the whole time though (but he has his little toe ring sock thing going on)

So I lied, he cares a LITTLE BIT about his appearance, his muscles. He will show off his biceps and abs each time (maybe even flexes them a bit.. Idk 😍)

Will purposefully sharpen his nails so they resemble claws. LMAO he thinks it looks cool

Strangely smells like melons🧐

The type to have a oddly clean room with like barely any decorations 😭 (someone give this man some posters at least)

ABSOLUTELY.

Warning; Most of these are about Hiccup and Astrid bc theyre my blorbos ultimate so sorry in advance if you were hoping for more abt the other riders.

I think Hiccup snorts when he laughs. Like really laughs, not just sarcastic chuckles (annual event). Also his voice is prone to cracking when he giggles.

Astrid is very strict about schedules/routines and finds them comforting. Sudden changes in plans make her upset but considering the nature of battle, it's something she's trained herself to better deal with (doesn't mean she's not gonna go scream into her pillow and throw things later)

She often has to remind Hiccup to eat because he gets so focused on tasks he forgets (average adhd grindset), and she's trying so hard to get Hiccup into having a better routine that focuses on him rather than just his scheduled dragon feeding and grooming regimen. It's a work in progress.

Astrid has a policy on never apologizing for things unless she caused them or can do something to help. To her it makes no sense to say 'im sorry' for something you've had no hand in, and pity is worth nothing. (Autistic ass mindset). She also is so awkward when it comes to comforting people, her face looks like she's constipated when she's concerned and often the best you'll get is an awkward pat on the back or hug (insane to me that in canon she's the 'motivational words gf' when that is So not accurate)

Hiccup gets the worst acne ever when he's on his period, he just has the vibes of someone who would yknow

Hiccup kind of hates communal meals in the great hall. The overlapping noises of so many people talking at once, cutlery scraping on plates, chewing, and benches scraping against the ground is actual torture. He much prefers the calmer atmosphere of dinners on Dragon's Edge

Hiccup would be the type of person to eat shit like sardines and olives on pizza but otherwise be a picky eater I think. Canonically Berks food tastes like shit, so the only thing he likes eating there is the fish. (The food they make on the Edge is so significantly better oh my god)

Hiccup not only snores absurdly loud (he gets it from stoick), but also talks in his sleep. Like fully talks. sometimes Astrid will humor him and respond. It scared the absolute shit out of her the first time they slept in the same room though

Fishlegs also talks and even walks in his sleep sometimes. He's been found wandering Dragon's Edge at night before

The first time Hiccup called Astrid 'M'lady' her face did a weird twitching thing and he was so worried he pissed her off but she was actually trying to figure out how to respond without showing how emotional it made her (him calling her that hits so much harder when you hc them as t4t, also I feel like Astrid's famliy just aren't the kind of people who often use terms of endearment like that)

Hiccup and Astrids first few kisses were actually like, really bad. A mess of their teeth clacking against each other and also horribly awkward since, yknow, they're kids. The first kiss Hiccup initiated he was so nervous he missed Astrid's mouth and had to try again 😭

Funnily enough, despite how eager he was to belive in mythical creatures as a child, Hiccups never been a particularly religious/faithful person and that just became more apparent after the events of When Lightning Strikes (he was So fed up)

Hiccup has that weird combo of being horribly touch starved (being isolated and unintentionally emotionally neglected for most of ur childhood does that) and also not being a huge fan of physical affection from others if he's not the one initating it. When people he's not already super comfortable with touch him or like hug him he freezes up like a deer in headlights

Hiccup learnt to speak French and Latin through frequent interactions with traders that came to Berk when he was younger, he liked hearing their stories and imaging going places far, far away from Berk (pre-httyd Era when he was still a social pariah) and despite his job at the smithy, Hiccup still had significantly more free time than his peers due to lack of training so he had to find other ways to entertain himself.

Do you think buddie was meant to go canon in S4, how do you think they would have done it?

I fully believe that buddie was intended to go canon in early s5 after eddie was shot. there was so much surrounding buck’s reaction to eddie being shot, eddie only focusing on making sure buck wasn’t also hurt, buck breaking down in front of chris, the discussion of the will…. they set up those building blocks to showcase that there was something deeper there with buck and eddie and then……. season 5 happened bc KR took over (FOX also had to do with the decision as well but…) but i think Tim was trying to intentionally write them into a corner but was moved to LS before he could ever get there himself.

I think s5 would have started out with eddie having the same realizations about not wanting to be with ana, and that it would lead to him reexamining his feelings for buck when buck would have been the one to comfort him through it. I think this version of s5 taylor would have noticed buck’s dedication to eddie and had a heary to heart with him about how he needs to be true to himself, and we would have gotten buck accepting his feelings (i also hc that in this timeline, buck knew he was bi already he just never felt the need to bring it up) and he and taylor would part ways as friends (taylor wouldn’t fuck everything up in this universe either) and buck would want ti confront his feelings, but before he got the chance to, eddie would leave the 118. buck would view this as eddie leaving him behind and not face the music. they would follow a similar path of canon s5 leading up to the big PTSD breakdown in 5x13 where buck would go to eddie’s when chris called. we would see buck immediately fall into place to take care of eddie (just like in canon) and it would lead to plenty of moments where they are just on the edge of something but never cross the line. they continue to dance around each other; buck saying he wants to give eddie some time to breath post-breakdown, eddie saying he doesn’t want buck to rush into a relationship after taylor (obviously not knowing the bereakup was bc of his feelings for eddie) and then finally in 5x18 while eddie and may are having their simultaneous arcs of what comes next, they would have a heart to heart where may would tell eddie he needs to stop waiting around and go after what makes him happy— this would lead to an emotional confession scene at hen and karen’s vow renewal where eddie would tell buck exactly how he feels, and buck, in lieu of a reply, kisses eddie and that would be how s5 ended, ushering buddie canon in s6 where we see them stumble, the whole wack-ass donor plotline would go away bc eddie would be there to talk some sense into buck, eddie would tell the buckley parents to fuck off, buck would still get struck by lightning and eddie would grapple with the idea of losing someone else (to give that shannon angst another stroke), we still get the poker date where it’s still a fluffy buddie moment, buck would continue recovering but he and eddie would grow distant bc buck would have similar post-lightning strike stress about not knowing what to feel, and eddie sould be repressing his emotions about it— lead to some angst with natalia flirting w buck, buck being flattered at someone not treating him like a living corpse, eddie getting pissed st this woman for thinking buck’s death is “cool” and thinking that buck might leave him for natalia, they have a mini (VERY mini) devorce era 2.0 that would get resolved during the freeway collapse and s6 would end with a bathena parallel of them getting secret married. then s7 would have been completely different bc we would have no racist man, no weird nun storyline, no doppelgänger bullshit, etc. We would get some secretly married buddie, possibly some more discussions of catholic guilt bc eddie doesn’t know if he’s ready to come out to his parents yet, eddie would come out to them and they would react badly, and s7 would end w ramon and helena starting a custody battle w buck and eddie over christopher.

yes i basically just rewrote the entirety of s5-7 but we deserved better than what we got from each of those seasons so 🤷🤷 if the creators won’t fo it themselves, someone has to.

anyway i hope this answered your question anon lmao <3 i kinda just sat down and started typing this out with no real clear direction but honestly… i might consider a series of fix-it fics to rewrite s5-7 in the future… but i make no promises

I will bother you with questions and statements. From a really old post - worldbuilding headcanons about hatake gender? w h a t d o e s t h i s m e a n ? Also, do you hc scarecrow boy to have any other canine traits (than the weird teeth)? Also including mannerisms or weird instincts/behaviors he has, like a head tilt? I can imagine him like. thirsting over inuzuka dog food (raw meat) once he first sees it, and being horrified over it lmao I can also imagine him when he's super tired (anbu era..???)(and in his own apartment) flopping over like a dog over the furniture and falling asleep immediately

IM SO HAPPY TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION i have insane person hatake hcs

in fics i havent written/posted i go into more detail about sakumo's home up north in no man's land, my partner has also expanded on some details on this and is actually leading into a life worsening roadtrip up north with oro and kakashi to finish up some of sakumo's business.

but since he hasnt gotten there yet, ill talk about it here.

hatakes have a main clan and branch clans, the main clan stays in no man's land up north and is the stereotypical white wolves you're expecting to blend into a place that is mostly winter. the branching clans migrate, some might settle in areas (the old hatake clan in konoha) or otherwise wander in family packs as wolves do.

the problem with being a powerful, sought after wandering clan with small numbers in family units, is that people want you, and what they want you for may not always be good, to do this, hatakes hide their numbers and hide who they have, dams and sires are dressed exactly the same, and with the fur patterns they have (body hair), it may be that it requires an animals nose to sniff out exactly who or what you're courting.

yes kakashi has canine traits. he sheds, all over, even without hrt he would have more body hair than you would expect, same as his mother (inuzuka hellion), her and sakumo were both double coated. he has ninja stock in lint rollers. he has his teeth, has his hearing/senses, and is definitely prone to canine verbalization. he teethed very early, and all over everything. and he can eat raw meat. he also has a minor mating cycle and glands relevant to such occasions internally. if you put him in a sun spot he will go unconscious

my kakashi is half inuzuka half hatake, and the two clans arent too far removed from each other. inuzuka are a sister clan to hatake, hatake stayed wild and in tune with the natural energy of the world (sakumo's white chakra lightning) while the inuzukas accepted man and domesticated themselves (much like dogs)

inuzukas being more aligned with people means they do consider gender some of the time, but for sakumo who came from up north and had no idea what the hell he was looking at, its a bit different.

to hatake, there are dams, and there are sires, and that is usually indicated via smell.

kakashi is a dam, but he decided very early on he wanted to be a boy, and to sakumo who didnt care to begin with, the response was "oh yeah sure" and then they moved on, this wasnt a problem because per hatake custom, a pup is not indicated to with anything other than name, pup, they, or it, until some level of maturity is reached

was it a bit weird for the people of konoha to hear sakumo refer to his 4 year old as "it"? sure. is it weird animal clan business? yeah probably. did it make it extremely easy to transition to calling kakashi "he" when his little genius demanded it? absolutely.

kakashi as a genius has mostly figured out gender, and his approach to gender was "i dont like that" and he b-lined to boy. he did not want to take kunoichi classes, that looked dumb.

he hit anbu and became more feral, calmed down a little, is more a relaxed tired old man. he is ferally possessive over his pack, and any children under his command for more than 30 seconds get soundly sorted into the "puppies" category. he has barked at naruto.

to talk about sakumo's gender some, he's a sire, that apparently made him a man in konoha, he wasn't particularly fussed about it either way.

yes sires have knots, yes there are anatomy drawings. yes it was a learning curve for sakumo to understand konoha genders and transgender people.

sakumo does fall into the dad territory of just dropping random insane lore on people like its nothing and walking away. he wore dresses for a good few years in his childhood. they were warm.

at the end of the day, hatakes know theyre wolves, not men. this life is two legs, the next is four, the next is two again; endlessly, eternally, hatake.

Oh I have so many of them (I’d better put them under the cut lol) Tysm for asking!!

He’s a vegetarian. In the Lost Woods, he and the other kids didn’t have access to meat and so ate what the plants provided (seeds, nuts, edible flowers, etc). He didn’t even taste meat until he was an adult and he didn’t much like it. It’s all veggies and grains for him. But he could never be a vegan. He likes milk too much

He has a major sweet tooth. It’s a byproduct of being part fairy

He was extremely shy as a child. As an adult he’s a lot less shy but definitely still introverted. His social energy depletes fast

He loves drawing but he’s not great at it. It doesn’t stop him from trying though. And Malon loves his art no matter what

He’s messed with time so much he can control it without the use of his ocarina

He frequently talked to Epona as a kid and once he got his masks he talked to them too

He despises heights because he’s fallen from them so many times. He’d one hundred percent be that one guy on a theme park ride screaming his head off during the drop

His favorite color is red. It reminds him of Malon’s hair

He’s afraid to get close to Warriors in lu after thinking he would never see him again. Every meeting leads to a parting and he’s not ready to part once more. But he loves his big brother so so much and ends up getting really close to him again anyway

He’s intimidating without even trying to be. He uses it to his advantage, because sometimes it’s the only way people listen to him. But really he hates it. He’s a sweetheart who doesn’t want others afraid of him

He’s not a leader. He HATES having to be one. He’s spent his life going solo (save for the War of Eras) and he doesn’t really know how to deal with so many conflicting personalities. His efforts in lu are a combo of help from Warriors, damage control from Sky, and faking it til he makes it

He can’t believe there’s such a thing as a dog or cat person. He adores them both equally (yes I know there aren’t cats in his Hyrule but to me there are lol)

Stalfos terrify him because of what they symbolize (plus his inability to save Grog from his terrible fate)

He’s healed a lot from his adventures with Malon’s help. But a large part of him still believes he is destined to lose everyone he loves. This leads him to be strict with the lu boys…even to the point of pushing them away

He loves thunderstorms. Absolutely LOVES them. He can and will stand out in the middle of them, arms spread, staring up into the sky with a goofy grin on his face. Don’t try this at home kids you’ll get struck by lightning

He tries to hold it back to be all mysterious, but his true smile is huge and slightly silly and extremely sweet and immediately lights up the room. Guaranteed to earn him a smooch from Malon every time

He’s a girl dad. Period.

He doesn’t have many friends. But he cares deeply and is fiercely protective of anyone who manages to earn his trust and get him to open up

Do you think SWK could, in an imaginary scenario, have also fallen prey to Daji's beauty? Ik that book SWK has no show interest in anything like that, however, we can also admire a nice painting or a nice view.

(Since a JTTW-FSYY crossover is deep in AU and HC territory by nature, everything below is my own fannish take.)

It depends on whether the "beauty" is just that, extreme aesthetic appeal, or a supernatural charm ability. I feel like the latter is closer to how Daji's charm works in FSYY, especially the part where she charms her executioners to the point of not able to lift the axe.

The former is possessed by plenty of demonesses, none of which has stopped SWK from attacking them when push comes to shove. The latter depends on how high his magic resistance is. /j

Seriously, though: in FSYY novel, we only witness Daji affecting mortal soldiers and executioners with her charm, before she's decapitated by the Immortal Slaying Flying Knife.

Though Lei Zhenzi (and, after the first failed attempt, Yang Jian and Wei Hu) are also there, they are overseeing the execution and we have no idea if they'd have fallen to the same effect if they were holding the weapons themselves.

(The fact that they have to command mortal soldiers to chop off the Three Demonesses' heads instead of, y'know, do it themselves is kinda an inconsistency that never gets explained.)

A similar scene of Daji charming her executioners is also found in the earlier Pinghua version. Here, it seems like her charm depends on line of sight to work——when Yin Jiao stepped in after two executioners had failed, he covered his eyes with a sash.

Daji still escaped in her true form before the strike connected, but was spotted using JZY's mirror, immobilized by his seal, and finally stuffed into a sack and crushed with mortars.

Now, going back to the magical resistance thing: SWK's magical resistance is pretty damn high, though not as high as his resistance to physical attacks——special moves like Yellow Wind Demon's Samadhi Wind, Red Boy's Samadhi Fire, and Scorpion Demoness' poison still cause problems for him.

(The "pretty damn high" statement can be supported by the failed execution methods after his capture by the Celestial Realm. Fire Bureau and Thunder Bureau gods get involved, and their flames and lightning didn't do a thing either.)

However, however: we don't really see any magical power that only affect the mind in JTTW, aside from maybe illusions. Certainly nothing like FSYY's various spells and treasures that work directly on the soul.

When JTTW demons try to deceive/charm people, they tend to do it the old-fashioned way——through actual trickery and seduction.

Yeah, there's certainly some interesting potential in exploring how FSYY's soul-based arts and AOE formations interact with JTTW's more one-on-one battle style and rarer, but more memorable treasures in a combined universe.

Anyways, I guess whether Daji's charm magic works on SWK will depends on 1) whether you think his magical resistance wards against this type of attacks, and 2) the context of this hypothetical encounter.

Like, does he already have an idea of how Daji's power works via a failed attack/watching someone else fall prey to it (probably Bajie because...Bajie)? Is he caught by surprise mid-battle?

Did Daji like, eat someone's soul again, then possess their body and approach the pilgrims in an attempt at playing the long game?

Nah, wait, are we talking about pre-Havoc SWK, Journey-Era SWK, or the Victorious Fighting Buddha?

...I know this question probably isn't asking for an analysis of Daji's charm power and how JTTW and FSYY's different "Battle of the Arts" style will work in a combined universe.

However, if you are asking me whether a SWK/Daji ship is possible: shipping is for fun. Crackships especially. It doesn't need permission or canon compliance to work for you.

I'm not personally interested in any SWK ships, being about as aroace as Book! SWK myself, so I don't have much to offer on that front.

That said, Daji would probably make a good White Bone Spirit style villainess, who relies mostly on manipulation, enhanced by a power set that is relatively rare in JTTW and works best when the target is caught by surprise or completely unaware of its influence.

Also, someone who's very aware that she can't take on the silly OP monkey directly, but his very guillible monk master is ripe for the taking.

BHN - incredibly there was a time (aka one month into this whole thing) when my favorite track on this album was the reprise. now, obviously, i love it in all its overly-long glory and the BHN gigs are actually my favorite era to watch. I also think this album is the most interesting oasis album.

SOTSOG - this is too low on the list given how much I enjoy the album for its highlights -- Fuckin In The Bushes, Go Let It Out, Gas Panic, Roll It Over. this album also has some of my favorite b-sides

DOYS - ditto. Bag It Up, Falling Down, I'M OUTTA TIME!!!!!!! pity their relationship was in the midst of an ugly downward spiral and it got in the way of recording, I do think this album could've been something spectacular. as it is, it's merely very good.

HC - EH. MEH. maybe they shouldn't be head over heels in love with each other if it produces such deeply mid music?? the fact noel still regularly sings Little by Little is a source of deep frustration to me. he's got so many others he could give time to... why. fuckin WHY. this album is the absolute oasis nadir, it oozes complacency. liam was at his sluttiest in these gigs and for WHAT, it's like putting a rodeo cowboy on a carousel.

not entirely sure but: for every team with no captain OR a pending UFA captain, here's my thots:

ducks: this team does not appear to have a leadership group at all? is that normal? like no one with any letters??? anyway i predict mason mctavish will get the captaincy. it was probably flirted with to give it to trevor zegras at some point while the getzlaf era was fading and then they quickly realized it's like. trevor zegras. terry/vatrano/maybe gudas? will probably get some kind of A situation

kraken: i don't traverse kraken fandom spaces a lot but it is my understanding that yanni gourde is the sort of spiritual captain already? i also am going to assume that shane wright will get a full call-up next year, considering he's no longer slide eligible. i imagine the plan might be to sort of. ease him into Second Official Captain Of The Seattle Kraken type deal

blackhawks: jesus that jones contract is bad. like Bad bad. i can only imagine out of some misguided hope (because i am not Entirely sure hawks management knows what they're doing) they want to give the captaincy to The Sacred Child but again, he's like 3 and doesn't really seem attuned to that so it would be a bad idea imho. maybe seth jones then? i do feel the need to state though that There Is No One On This Team. it's nick foligno connor bedard seth jones and a dream.

avalanche: now i know i said in cases of no captain or UFA captain only but. i'm saying it now, i don't think landeskog is coming back. maybe he will pull a carey price -- hack out a couple games at the end of this season or next, to raucous applause and the game is good when he's in it, but for all intents and purposes we have witnessed the end. that being said they're no doubt going to give it to cale makar, which will be a mistake

utah hc: it should be clayton keller as i've been saying

sabres: exciting exciting !! the sabres have a history of trading their captains which means sabres captaincy is solidly a Cursed Thing To Bear which i enjoy. anyways mostly because he appears to be being set up for it (youngish player, touted prospect, wearing the A already) and also in the interests of torturing the blonde man i think it should be rasmus dahlin

lightning: not that there isn't a pretty significant chance of him returning to tampa but should stevie stamkos leave in free agency i think they'll probably pull a marchy-in-boston and name victor hedman captain. mostly because they don't really have any notable Youths to Pass The Torch too, other than, like, mikhail sergachev, and as cunty as he is he's not really like. captain material <- as far as i'm aware (plus he doesn't even have an A)

More Cars OCs and Headcanon:

More Doc family headcanon for a fanfic I'm working on.

This time we're gonna focus on his parents.

I use the terms "sire" and "dam" to refer to a vehicle's bio-technological parents. In Doc's era, and before, it was almost always assumed that you meant sire and dam when using words like father/mother to describe another vehicle. In Lightning's era...not so much.

Also, in my HC, cars reach physical maturity at age eleven, after they have their final growth spurt. Only after this point in their lives are they able to reproduce, and it was very common for cars in Doc's day, especially lady cars, to get married and start families at that age. It is also the age where you can legally drink, live independent of your parents, own property, run for public office, and work full-time somewhere other than a family-owned business...though in modern times it's more common for young cars to stay with their parents until their late teens or early twenties.

*NOTE* I'll do a separate post on vehicle reproduction and growth at some point in the future.

Doc's dam, Annette Elizabeth Longhauler nee Glenrunner (factory designation: CS621949346CU07221925 Cycle 9, Rotation 195, Batch 46A), was the youngest of three children sired by Otis James Glenrunner and Elizabeth Marie Glenrunner nee Owen. She had two older, twin brothers: Carl Samson Glenrunner and James Owen Glenrunner, and was manufactured on July 22nd, 1925 at the Cadillac Factory in Detroit, Michigan. She was modeled a in the likeness of an Old World, 1949 Cadillac Series 62 Sedanette.

Annette started learning internal combustion from her father at five, and by eleven she was regarded by many as the second best mechanic in Dawson county, a rare feat for a female car growing up in the twenties and thirties of Cycle 9.

At eleven, she married the youngest child of the Longhauler Family, an International Harvester Semi named Samuel. Despite Sam being on the road most of the year, they started trying for kids...but, no matter how many times they were intimate, they were unable to sire a flame together.

Diagnostic scans revealed nothing out of the ordinary with her reproductive hardware...meaning that Sam's siring cable was the likely culprit. However, when she attempted to bring the issue up to Sam and his parents, her in-laws accused her and her father of trying to discredit the Longhauler name...and began spreading rumors around town that Annette was barren. The constant harassment from her in-laws and the townsfolk eventually got to be too much...and she would attempt to take her own life. She would have been successful had an Oldsmobile named "Ghost" not used his own body to stop her.

Despite her injuries, Annette managed to push Ghost to her family's garage in Dawsonville, and once her own repairs were far enough along, she took over Ghost's repairs so that her father could better focus on running the garage. She would ultimately befriend Ghost and confide in him, and...much to her father's dismay, they would sire a flame together. Annette received instructions to travel to the Hudson Motors Factory in Detroit, and the plasma "flame" that she carried was used to manufacture a child whom she named Samuel James "Hudson" Longhauler Jr; "Hud" for short.

Annette raised Hud as best she could while still working 60+ hours/week at the garage. It was clear, early on, that he wasn't interested in being a mechanic...and that was fine with her; he was his own person, after all. After Hud ran away in '47, her depression got worse and was exacerbated by having to run the family garage and store after her father and brothers were arrested for making moonshine. She was aware of Hud's racing career, and she made a point to save every news article she could find, displaying them proudly on her cork-board at work.

Annette saw Hud's crash in '54, as the race had been televised, but his sponsor wouldn't divulge the name of the hospital that he had been sent to...and she could only wait for updates in the papers. She hoped that he'd call her at some point, but he never did, and his disappearance after the fact would be the start of an emotional and physical downturn, made worse by Sam's untimely death in '58. Her health never recovered, and she would pass in '59, just two days shy of her 34th birthday.

Personality-wise, Annette was intelligent, shrewd, hardworking, and stubborn. As time went on, she became more brusque, and bitter...but she did her best to tough it out if only to spare her father and brothers from having to worry about her.

Interesting Facts:

Her favorite genre of music was Jazz. She loved fixing and rebuilding engines, and she taught classes on basic engine repair at the local community center. Despite missing him terribly, she never blamed Hud for running away in '47...or for being distant during his racing career, knowing that he was more of a free spirit, like his Sire. Her and Sam's relationship strengthened greatly following the affair, once the social pressure of having a child had been absolved.

Doc's sire was the notorious, Kentucky whiskey-tripper Diesel "the Ghost" O'Twill (factory designation: OR881949C303CU09061922 Cycle 9, Rotation 111, Batch 2A). He was modeled in the likeness of an Old World, 1949 Oldsmobile 88 Rocket Coupe, and was manufactured on September 6th, 1922 at the Oldsmobile Factory in Detroit.

Born into a large family of moonshiners, he was forced to become a tripper at the tender age of seven, literally days after his engine finished growing. His parents cared little for his well-being, and would resort to physical violence any time he didn't instantly obey their orders. Their methods became more cruel with time, but Ghost kept running moonshine for them in order to protect his younger brother (Ivon) and cousin (Sean). In 35', Ghost, Ivon and Sean were almost killed during a routine drop off when the warehouse was raided by the ATF. While nursing their injuries in Morristown, word got out that no one survived the raid. Realizing that this was their one shot to get away from their family...they high-tailed it west, only stopping when they'd reached Atlanta.

Ivon and Sean would open up a restaurant in West End (O'Twill's Place). Ghost didn't much like the idea of settling down, and he would head south to Thomasville after hearing about a guy named Smokey who was recruiting scouts and trippers for Raymond Parkway's moonshine network. Ghost's speed, cunning, and off-road skills were unmatched, and he quickly became Smokey's go-to guy whenever Raymond needed product moved through high risk areas. He would eventually be placed in charge of a group of the best runners and scouts in the region, the aptly named "Still Chasers."

Years later, Ghost was sent on a solo mission to Dawsonville to look for something known only as the "Phantom Still," as Raymond wanted to recruit the owner to his network. He was unsuccessful. On the road back to Thomasville, he stopped a Cadillac (Annette) from committing suicide. They're both injured in the resulting collision, but Annette managed to push him to her family's garage in Dawsonville. While getting fixed up, they became friends, and eventually, Annette tells him about the problems that she was having with her husband and the almost constant, emotional abuse from her in-laws. Once his repairs were complete, Annette asked him if he would be willing to sire a child with her. He agreed...but only after he was 100% sure that Annette's rationale for doing so was more selfless than selfish.

Ghost would have no contact with Annette's family until 1947. While he and his crew were hiding from the ATF in the woods north of Dawsonville, a nine year year old Hudson Longhauler got embroiled in a sting operation meant for them. He gave Hud the option to go home, but the kid chose to follow him and his gang to Thomasville where they would run moonshine together until 1950. He and Hud mostly parted ways in 51' when the latter would begin racing for their mutual boss, Smokey. Ghost would continue running for Smokey until he was killed by the ATF in April of 54'.

Ghost was intelligent, cunning, charismatic...and a self-proclaimed "specialty ladies-man," being easily distracted by lovely, lady cars...but gentleman enough to not to see them as trophys to be won and discarded. He made a point to really get to know his potential partners, investing time and effort into individuals who really seemed to need help...and if they just happened to wind up in their garage at some point, great...but hooking up was always secondary to the emotional connection. He was very loyal to those he called friends, often helping them out in ways that they might not appreciate until years later.

Interesting Facts: He may or may not have had to eat an entire tractor while hiding from the ATF in the Knobs, an area in Kentucky known for its unusual, karst topography. He was somehow able to convince an ATF agent that he was female so that he could sneak a trunk of moonshine through a roadblock. He would Change into a metallic silver paint job with expensive whitewall tires whenever he was in Thomasville for R&R. He became best friends with Hud...and never figured out that that the younger car was his son. Other than Hud, he sired one other child with his scout, Cassie, though they kept it a secret from the rest of the team. He has a very thick, Appalachian accent (Inland South sub-dialect of Appalachian English).

Annette's husband, and the person that Doc thought was his father for most of his life, was Samuel Joseph Longhauler (factory designation: IHC1940KR11360CU11111925 Cycle 9, Rotation 134, Batch 3B). He was the youngest child sired to Spinney and Claire Longhauler. He was manufactured on November 11th, 1925, at the International Harvester Company Factory in Chicago, IL and is modeled after an Old World, 1941 KR-11 International Harvester Company Truck.

At the time he was manufactured, Sam was the largest truck born into the Longhauler family--larger, even, than his uncle Skids whom was an actual logging truck. After his seventh-year growth spurt, he was big and strong enough to haul full loads of corn and rye to Atlanta, and he was eventually coerced by his father to start hauling lumber. By ten he had managed to secure a lucrative contract with the US Railroad Commission, and was hauling lumber all over the southeast. At eleven, his parents arranged for him to marry Annette Glenrunner. Despite being lukewarm to the concepts of fatherhood and children, he and Annette knew that newly married vehicles were socially obligated to reproduce, so they would try every time he was in town. Two years and DOZENS of attempts later, they were still childless. Annette would eventually confront him with evidence suggesting that his siring cable may be at fault...and he would have believed her if not for his parents. They told him that Annette was barren, and he was too afraid of his father to argue. The next time he came home, Annette had a child with her... a child that she claimed was his. He had his doubts right from the start...but since his parents didn't question it, and Annette was happier than he'd ever seen her, he put the matter out of his mind and instead focused on trying to be a good father...despite the fact that he was on the road for much of Hud's childhood.

In '47, Hud got mixed up with a group of whiskey trippers. The ATF tore apart Dawsonville trying to find him...but they found Otis Glenrunner's still, instead. Otis, and his twin sons were arrested...leaving Annette to run Glenrunner's by herself. When Sam saw how much his wife was struggling, physically and emotionally, he quit his job to help her. His father was furious...but Sam stood up to him, earning Annette's respect in the process. This would eventually blossom forth into actual love, and despite all the hell that they were going through, their relationship prospered.

Personality wise, Sam was creative, timid and sensitive. He was much more at home in his uncle's study, studying and drawing maps, than hauling lumber. But the Longhaulers were a family of loggers and farmers, and hobbies like art were considered "idle work." His father would physically and verbally abuse him as a way of getting him to "truck up" any time his behavior "lapsed." By the time he was eight, he had developed such a pathological fear of his father that he took on work that he knew was too much for his body to handle, hoping to earn his father's respect...but it was never enough. Years of abuse, combined with the strain of forcing his body to haul loads that exceeded the recommended weight for his model, left him with deep emotional and physical scars that would make it difficult to form close bonds with people, and--unknown to him--sire children. Later in life, he would develop D.R.A.D, a degenerative disease effecting the bio-technology in his cab where it transitioned to the bio-mechanical and mechanical components of his rear axle. As time went on, the pain became so bad that he couldn't function without immense doses of medication, and he would choose to be humanely euthanized in June of '58 when his condition took a turn for the worse.

Interesting Facts:

He was the youngest of eleven children (he had eight brothers and two sisters...all of whom were various types of trucks). Out of everyone in his family, Sam was really only close to his uncle Skids, and when the latter died in a freak logging accident, he inherited his uncles entire estate...much to the chagrin of his father. He had a photographic memory, and knew the southern and eastern roads so well that he would be commissioned by the US government, off and on, to help plot routes for the Interstate Highway System.
