Lifeweaver battle whump oneshot
I'm abandoning OW cannon, if they can interact in the game, they can interact in the fic
---In which the team learns not to abandon their healers, and Lifeweaver is overworked---
This wasn't the first time Niran had been targeted on the battlefield, and it wouldn't be the last. (Frankly, it hadn't come close to the first time he'd been targeted in life either).
He wanted to say he didn't care--on the battlefield it was because he was the healer, it was a testament to his dreams coming to life, he had always faced pushback for his ideals--but when it was this persistent, he couldn't help but get very tired of it very quickly. It was definitely partially the enemy's fault, they were ruthless, this battle had gone on far too long.
However, his own team left some to be desired in this endeavor. As Lifeweaver, Niran had recently started going on missions with the newly reformed Overwatch. Technically, he was more of an outsourced vigilante than one of their agents, but he had learned their strategies and members well by now, and was more than used to working with them. Most often, it went incredibly well. It was times like this that scared him.
A pained gasp directed Niran's attention from Orisa, currently locked in battle with a massive omnic, over to his right, where a human Overwatch agent stumbled, clutching her side, gun sagging in her hand, hat ready to fall off her head. Another omnic loomed over her.
Without needing to think, Lifeweaver grabbed her, yanking her back the thirty or so yards between them, and away from the omnic. The pink light surrounding her shielded them both from the bullet spray aimed their way and he quickly set to work with his healing blossom. "I have you," he reassured her. Was it Ashe? He had already forgotten her name, this was their first time working together. "Stay close, will you?" The last thing he needed was people running off where he couldn't reach them, especially in such a cluttered area as this. The buildings in Survasa were close, with too many walls and corners. Although, with the rampaging omnics destroying everything, that might not be an issue in the near future.
With the omnic uprising, Lifeweaver had become familiar with fighting all types of enemies, from humans, to peaceful omnic models turned warriors for their freedom, and even R-7000 Ravagers, like the leader of the Null Sector. But...there was something bugging him about these omnics. They weren't acting like the beings he usually fought. They didn't have a leader, or any kind of attack patterns. They didn't even seem to be-
Lifeweaver hissed as a bullet grazed his side. He whirled around, healing blossom already shifting on his arm to become a weapon. Another bullet whizzed past his head, close enough to hear, and Niran's heart jumped in his chest. He took a step back into a more steady stance and opened fire on the advancing machines. Aim between the chinks in their armor, just make them fall apart. He hated when he could think during battles. It always made his heart ache. I wish violence never solved anything. It would make peace so much easier.
They didn't even flinch as his thorns embedded themselves deep. One even got its arm torn off without so much as a stumble. What is going on?! Omnics were sentient, they felt pain and distress, joy and hope just like any other creature, why weren't they reacting?
His mind flashed back to the distress call they had been organized to respond to. Supposedly the monks from the Shambali Temple in the village had gone mad, laying siege to Survasa. He remembered the other Overwatch members' murmurs of disbelief, their distrust in the call, as well as his own. None of it made any sense!
Now, facing the omnics' blank stares, their thoughtless behavior, it was all starting to form a picture Niran didn't like. "Orisa!" As the longest standing and most accomplished Overwatch agent of the team, the tank was their mission leader. Surely, they would listen to him and they could investigate this.
There was no response. The omnics that had been attacking him, still in their monk garb, finally stopped, destroyed. With a regretful grimace, he turned away. Where did the team go?! Panic flashed through him. How did they all manage to disappear so quickly?! Why didn't anyone make sure he was coming?! It was dangerous to split up like this!
"Orisa!" Niran sprinted through the village, stumbling over debris. This place was like a maze, how was he supposed to find them?! The clamor of battle came from every direction. Surely they hadn't all dispersed. But then again, if it wasn't his teammates he was hearing, then it was omnics attacking civilians, who should have been evacuated by now.
Lifeweaver huffed. He was exhausted. The temporary lull in the battle let weariness seep into his bones and sent an ache through his lungs. The wound in his side was shallow, but at this point his healing abilities were wearing out as well, and it wasn't fixing itself as quickly as it could be. With the adrenaline wearing off, it burned like mad when he stepped, or climbed through the rubble. Still, he needed to keep going. This was what he was here for, to help people. He needed to find his team fast, or they could all be done for. So, gritting his teeth, he broke into a run once more. Best bet was to head to the dim flashes and the most noise.
When he arrived, Niran's heart dropped.
On the plus side, he thought, he had found his team. Most of them. He could still save this. He had to still save this, there wasn't anyone left. On his way here he had seen the body of his support partner in an alley, clearly already dead. It didn't take a genius to figure out what had happened; it had been a surprise attack, targeted, the moment they were even somewhat on their own. Fighting back bile in his throat at the bloody mess that had once been his teammate, Niran forced himself to continue onward. I hope their soul finds peace.
The team itself wasn't looking too good. Immediately, Lifeweaver leapt into action, sending as many healing bursts as he could. They were all together now, in the heart of the village. In the back of his mind, he took note of the huge statue casting its long shadow over the grounds, but too easily got distracted by the heat of battle once more.
Orisa had the most armor and experience, their health was low, but not as bad as it could be and they could take care of themself. Lifeweaver sent a large healing burst their way and reached out with his life grip to grab their second attack agent, and not a moment too late. The omnic stabbed, just missing the man as he was yanked away. The blade in its arm bounded harmlessly off the light shield. He didn't watch them fly towards him, instead pulling them both onto a petal platform as soon as he could take a split second with his left hand and shooting healing light at the female agent from before. The man collapsed at his feet, dangerously low on health. Luckily, the platform could do a large portion of the healing for him. He slammed a couple short bursts directly through the man's exposed back, just enough to make sure he wouldn't die from blood loss and split his attention again between the remaining two agents on the ground.
There were so many omnics, how were they going to stop them?! His mind had gone blank, working on rapid autopilot just to keep his teammates alive. Luckily, it wasn't long before the man he had pulled to the platform readied his weapon again and leapt off, right into a small crowd of enemies. He'd have to keep an eye out for him, but he seemed to be doing alright at the moment.
Orisa slammed their fist into the face of the last omnic next to them, making a motion of a sigh of relief, and suddenly Lifeweaver remembered. Maybe we can stop them--turn them off somehow, or figure out what's controlling them! "O-"
He dropped. The petal platform disappeared out from underneath him, and Niran's heart leapt into his throat. He was usually so good at timing it so he could be prepared! Before he knew it, his feet hit the ground with a jolt that rocked his whole body, one ankle twisting painfully, and he crumpled. His hands scraped against the hard ground and he hissed, tasting blood from where he had bitten his own tongue. Cursing, he forced himself to look up.
Already, his team needed his help again. Orisa was charging to aid the attack agents, but they were both being swarmed, covered in blood and Niran could see one's broken arm from here. Without bothering to stand, he aimed the full might of his healing blossom at the group. At one point, he tossed another petal platform, throwing away omnics who got caught on the edges and temporarily removing his team from the battle. Only now, when the recovering omnics spotted him instead of their original prey, did he remember his position. Not being on one's feet was vulnerable, it was slow and was all an enemy needed in a split second to fuck you up.
Luckily, they were still a ways away, he could stand and run in plenty of time. Theoretically. As soon as Niran put weight on his right leg, his ankle sent another jolt of pain, and he stumbled, this time falling on his ass. Oh no. His eyes widened. No, no, he needed to get up! They weren't that far, he needed to run!
None of his teammates noticed the beings abandoning them and advancing on him. Why would they? They still had their own battle to fight and they weren't support, they weren't supposed to be on the lookout for their teammates like he was. But he was scared. No, no, he could deal with this on his own. He was always meant for great things, he was always so smart, so capable--even his parents knew despite not liking the way he did things--he could handle this on his own, he just needed to get up!
Lifeweaver's breaths were coming fast. He tried again, turning over to scramble to his feet. This time he was prepared for the pain, limping in the other direction as fast as he could. The bullet wound from before was healed by now, thank goodness. But all too soon, another ripped through his side. this time deeper, between his bottom ribs, and Niran choked on a scream. The ratatattat of ammunition fanned out around him. It was sheer luck he hadn't been struck down already. He needed help, he- he could life grip someone to him...but at what cost? Would that doom them both? If he pulled someone away from where they were fighting, would the other two die without them?
Blood dampened his clothes and stained sticky on his skin. He already knew he wouldn't do it. It was his job to protect the others, he wouldn't put them in more danger just to save himself if it wasn't a near guarantee that they could make it. This time he did cry out as another bullet tore into his shoulder.
Prove to us that you're worth our time and money Niran!
You're brilliant, we know you are, you just have to do it right!
Casualties happen, it's regrettable, but it's part of war we can't avoid.
There were other healers. He was going to die eventually, he knew what he had signed up for. Surely they could go on without him. Surely they would call a retreat any minute. If this was the way it was meant to end...
No one noticed his predicament. Even when he screamed, no one turned their heads or their weapons, no one called out to him.
No! He limped further back, though the pace was slow. He didn't want to die! He couldn't, there was still so much he had left to do! What could he do, what could he do?! He had used his tree not too long ago, it didn't have enough power yet.
The shadows of the omnics were only inches from he feet now. It didn't matter any more if their aim was atrocious, point blank was point blank. At almost the same moment, a dreadful, metallic screech cut through the air. Lifeweaver aimed his thorn gun at one omnic's face, quickly dismantling it. Behind it, he watched as the statue tipped. The second omnic didn't look away from its target, slowly marching closer and re-aiming it's gun at his chest. The statue was about to fall on Orisa. They hadn't noticed, they were going to be crushed.
Ignoring the pain shooting like lightning across his body, Niran leapt to the side, haphazardly shooting at the omnic, while his real focus was the tank. If his aim was off at all-
The instant the glowing bubble enveloped Orisa, he relaxed. Its front half shattered under the weight of the statue, just barely moving them out of the way in time. Agony erupted in Niran's skin, bones and muscle as he was riddled with bullets and his world went black.

Hello!! I saw your life weaver one shot and I just adore it. I was wondering if you maybe had some general LifeWeaver headcanons? Maybe for a clumsy person, who is definitely not me but tends to have old scars and new injuries from things?
Thank you, your one shot made me weak he is such a darling of a man ♥️
Well, I didn't expect another request for Lifeweaver, but I shall grant you what my mind can muster up. I wrote this in one sitting. Enjoy~

Warning(s): fluff
Requested: Yes, anonymous
Song:
A groan escaped (Y/n)'s lips as she laid down on the ground. The days of overworking yourself to the bone (has) finally caught up to you, and you can't help but just accept it. (Y/n) could hear sudden footsteps from upstairs before a familiar face peering down to look at what had probably caused all that ruckus. It was right then and there that she had wished she would've died on impact, so she didn't have to witness her roommate looking at her pathetic hopeless self sprawled out on the ground.
"(Y/n), did you just fall?" Niran asked as he held onto the railing of the top of the stairs.
"No." She replies.
"Then why are you on the ground?" He cocks his head to the side with a small smirk and raised brow.
".. I fell." She admits and this makes him sigh.
"I'm going to help you up." He said, already heading downstairs. Her roommate was always so nice and friendly while she was a clumsy mess. "Does anything hurt?"
"No." She lies. Nothing was broken, but she did feel ashamed that nearly everyone she knew had known her as the person who always would be in an accident.
"Good, then you can get up." He taps her hip and she couldn't help but groan. "Unless you want me to help you."
"No, I'm totally fine here." She smiles as she watched him roll his eyes and stepped over her before resting his hands on his hips.
"This is your last chance, N̂ảp̄hụ̂ng." He warns.
"Or what?" (Y/n) watched as he bends down and grabbed her legs before pulling her down the hallway.
"NIRAN!?" A squeak leaves her lips as he practically drags her. Her arms cover her fluttering face as he continues to drag her before he lets go of her legs and moves. She can't help but peak between her arm, though that was probably a mistake as his chest was in full view. The man was wearing a deep rose pink V neck t-shirt, revealing his hard yet soft looking chest. How was it that she was so blessed and cursed at the same time to have such a good-looking roommate. She swore she only joined Vishkar to learn and provide people with hope for the future. Still, her eyes can't help but look at the way Niran's white hair was tied up in a messy bun, and his bangs happen to fall over his eye.
"You must really like staring at someone who is treating you." He said with an amused smirk on his lips. This makes her avert her eyes before yelping as he picked her up and sits her down onto the couch of their living room. "I'm going to have to ask you if anything hurts. That was a dangerous fall.."
"I'm alright.." (Y/n) stretched her arm before whimpering as she held it to her stomach. Niran can't help but lean forward and reach over, gently holding her arm. "Okay, maybe not as alright as I had thought."
"This is why I'm studying to be you're nurse." He jokes as he decides to have a look at your arm. "Well, I can't fix it now since it's late. Lucky for you, I happen to be trained in wrapping a broken arm."
"Thank you so much, Niran. I'm so sorry to be such a clutz." She let's her eyes meet his soft chocolate ones.
"It's no problem. Without you falling around everywhere, I wouldn't be learning how to treat different kinds of first aid." He chuckles as his eyes glance at every small scar and recent bandages on you. "But really, I think it's rather adorable."
"Ho-!?" She can't help but almost choke on her own saliva before going into a coughing fit. He quickly pats her back before letting his hand rub the middle of her shoulder blades. "You think I'm.."
"Of course, I do. You're also the sweetest person I have ever met on campus."
"Ahh.." She was feeling her entire face burn up and quickly averts her eyes only to see Satya in her light blue pajamas with her pillow under her arm. She looked so tired and upset, which was never good.
"If you two don't stop flirting so loudly, I will not hesitate to strike you both." Her hands already holding up her pillow.
"Wait.. is that a seashell pillow?" Niran asked as he pointed at it. Satya can't help but look at it herself.
"Yes, it is."
"I didn't realize you believed in fairytales." Immediately, Niran's face is met with a loud "fwap" as the pillow is slammed against his face.
"(Y/n) if you're going to start dating him. I suggest you teach him some manners." She takes her pillow back, glaring at Niran before walking back upstairs. "Start with his snoring."
"Satya!" Niran whines as he can't help but tuck his face into your shoulder as he hugs (Y/n). Whether it was to comfort himself or to hold you didn't really matter.

You had felt it coming on for a while now. There was just this feeling, of something practically gnawing behind your eye. Not literally, of course - if that had been the case, you would have gone to see Ziegler a lot sooner. It started with a light headache. You thought it would go away with some water - which you drank in abundance, along with a couple of painkillers, to try and help the headache's swift departure. However, this did nothing. By the end of the first day, your head was pounding. Nothing besides laying still would sate the ruthless and unending hammering inside your skull. So, you resigned yourself to your room - the cool air of the place surrounding you in your little cocoon of sheets and pillows, your eyes creaking shut with a relief that you couldn't voice the pleasure of.
You had had the vague hope, when you laid your head down to rest, that by morning, the ache in your temples and behind your eyes would have subsided enough that you could just take some more painkillers, and go on with your day as normal. However, upon opening your eyes you had to throw that plan right out the window. The small amount of light that had managed to get itself past your company-issued blinds felt like you were staring straight up into the sun. You groan, shuffling as much as you can to shy away from the light. This proves much more difficult than expected, however - there's a stiffness in your neck that stabs at your muscles with each little flex. There go today's plans, you think to yourself. And just when you thought you had everything for today under control, too. You had planned everything out; you'd start the morning off with breakfast as normal, before spending some time in the Zen room, meditating with Genji. That was an activity you hadn't had the luxury of partaking in for almost three weeks, and you had been dying to be able to do it again - it always started out as a normal meditation session, but would always eventually devolve into you both sharing stories or gossip with one another.
A part of you hoped that Genji would notice you not turning up to your shared meditation session today - especially since you had both been talking so avidly about it over the past few days, in almost childish anticipation. But the more logical part of you - as defunct as your headache made it - knew that this would likely not be so. As caring as Genji always was to you, he was never one to pry. If you didn't show up to something, he wasn't going to chase you down about it - though he would normally ask next time he saw you, in case it was something that he could help get off of your chest. Your thoughts swim in your head as you try your damndest to try and grab one and hold onto it. It doesn't work very well at all. You're hardly even able to comprehend a word or image in your mind, let alone an entire thought. Your eyes clamp shut again as you half-heartedly shuffle to lay on your side, your back now to the window. It helped a little bit, but your head protested at even that movement. You let out a quiet, involuntary groan at the pain settling itself at the front of your head, pounding against your skull with a vengeance. Your body falls still as it begins to rest once more, trying to naturally shake off the headache. Your chest rises and falls slowly, almost laboured from having to actually use the muscles despite it being necessary, as the pain starts to spread down from your neck into the rest of your body.
It was difficult for Genji not to notice your absence in the Zen room - though, as you had rightly predicted in your headache induced haze, he hadn't thought too much of it as of yet. There was a lot of pressure on you - and many of the other operatives still involved with Overwatch. It wasn't uncommon for mental health days to be mandated by those working the med-bays, particularly Doctor Ziegler. So, Genji just assumed that this was what you were doing that day - he'd catch up with you when he saw you next. Though, as he sat across from one of the others you were meant to spend the day with, eating lunch, the subject was sprung upon him much sooner than he had expected. "Where do you think they are?" Niran - one of the newer members of the force - asked Genji. The cyborg glanced up, his eyes narrowing beneath his mask for a moment. He just wanted to eat his food - as difficult as it could be at times, removing the lower half of his face plate wasn't exactly easy, nor comfortable. So, he just continued eating, knowing full well that Niran would continue the conversation by himself anyway. "It's so odd that they wouldn't turn up, and not say anything…" He pondered, pursing his lips before eating some more of his own meal. "I mean, even if it wasn't anything to worry about, they'd still say something, I know it-" The man continued, his mouth half-full of salad. "Do not talk with your mouth full." The other replied, his voice low, and quiet. It wasn't threatening, but it certainly was a warning. Niran quickly covered his mouth with one hand, making sure the remainder of his mouthful couldn't be seen by the much calmer of the pair. "Sorry!" He replied bashfully, looking down briefly as he spoke. But, within a moment, he was back on his original train of thought. "But my point still stands... Perhaps someone should go and check on them!" Niran's normal optimistic tone was now laced with worry - ordinarily he tried to keep his thoughts aligned with the optimism that he often found lacking in his colleagues, but this had never stopped him from also being an avid worrier. "Are you going to?" Genji asked, mostly a rhetorical question. But instead of just making Niran think, it gave him a sparkle in his eye as his face spilt into a smile; "That's a wonderful idea, Shimada!" He exclaimed, getting to his feet. Genji just... Stared at him. Niran stared right back. "Aren't you coming...?" "No." Was the Cyborg's curt reply. "My question was purely rhetorical. I had no intention of going." "Oh... I suppose that... makes sense." Niran said slowly, pursing his lips and raising his brows for a moment as he thought this over. "But I'm still going to go." He told him, starting to turn away. "I would finish your lunch first." "No, no... I'll have something more later." Niran waved his arm in dismisal, as he started off down the hall, making his way to the living quarters.
Niran was very familiar with where exactly your quarters were - the number of times he had walked back with you, and even stayed the night, were immeasurable. Without a doubt, he could walk this route with his eyes clamped shut. Of course, the closest he would ever get to that was if his eyes were fixed on you, whilst you were both in the deep throes of blissful conversation - which, admittedly, was more often than not anyway. His steps were light, almost silent, on the cold hard floors as he rapidly approached your door. Cheerfully he lifted a hand, knocking three times fast, a signature knock you would have noticed and recognised immediately - if you were awake. Unfortunately for Niran, you were not, and thus no response came from your humble little room. This confused Niran - you were not normally one to miss out on a whole day of spending time with your closest companions for nothing. His brows drew together, as hundreds of possibilities ran through his mind; had you run off? Were you still in your room? Had you - somehow - gotten lost in the facility?
Niran shook his head. Of course you couldn't have! This was your home- how could you ever get lost? With this in mind, he slowly slid the door open, peering inside your darkened room. "Hello?" His voice wasn't too much more than a whisper, as he was now starting to worry that he had disturbed an impromptu nap of yours - which, of course, he was right. Your groan of discomfort was the only response he got at first. So, he started to slide the door open a little more, only to be met with a louder, more disgruntled moan. You fling your arm over and try to lob a pillow at him, but you fail miserably - the pillow doesn't even go past the end of the bed. Niran gets the message, though; close the door. He hurries in, sliding the door quickly shut behind him. "Oh dear..." He mumbles, mostly to himself, as he draws closer to you. "You don't look well at all.." He states, as if it weren't the most obvious thing in the world. You feel the back of his knuckles gently press against your forehead, as he takes your temperature. You try to bat his hand away, but the action is less than half-hearted; you just don't have the strength to put up much of a fight. "'s cause 'm not..." You grumble, your gravelly voice partially muffled by the pillow you're still laying on. "Let me help you..." You sense him moving by your side, and you absently wave a hand in his direction, trying to shoo him off. You didn't want any interaction, you just wanted to be left alone. You groan again, attempting to get the message across without actually uttering another word - you just didn't have the energy to talk any more. Niran gives you a pitying look, even though you can't see it you can almost feel it. The way his face falls when something upsets him, the way his bottom lip juts out as he starts to pout a little bit - it's all there, in your mind's eye, fuzzy as it may be at the moment.
You grumbled again - you were trying to say 'please leave me alone', but of course, all that left your lips was a load of garbled sounds, of which nothing could be made out. "Here... Let me get you some water..." Niran says gently to you, and you're somewhat aware of some footsteps moving away from you - you don't particularly care for the other sounds after. You try to get yourself back to sleep, shuffling a little bit to get comfortable again. "No, no... Let's try and sit you up..." It's Niran's voice again, and you feel a pair of hands on your arms, gently trying to move you into a seated position. You don't struggle, but it still takes quite a bit of effort for him to get you sitting comfortably, even if your head does keep lolling from side to side. The room is swimming, spinning as you try to focus your eyes on something. You can't settle them, only close your eyes to try and dull the sensation that the sudden movement has caused. "There, there..." He soothes, "It's alright... I've got some water for you..." He says gently, as you feel something cool tap against your bottom lip. You hesitantly part your lips, and as soon as you felt the water hit your mouth, you drank hungrily. "Woah, slow down..." Niran warned, pulling the glass away from your lips for a moment. "You'll make yourself sick if you keep drinking that quickly..." He brushes some hair from your face, before allowing you to drink again. "I've never seen you so ill... Even in this light you look awful..." He says gently. He moves the chair you keep at your desk to your bedside, slowly lowering himself into it. "You rest, for now... I'll make sure you get drink when you wake... And then, when you can sit up properly again, I can make you some food..." He pauses, allowing this to sink for you. "I could make you some Som tam, if you'd like..." He offered, though you don't reply, slowly sliding down from your seated position, back into a more comfortable laying one. Niran lets you, his only interference being how he moves your pillows around your head. He crosses one leg over the other as you settle properly, making himself comfortable. He was going to watch you as long as you needed him to.
As he sat, and the day wound on, he started to work on something for when you woke. It wasn't exactly difficult work per se, but he was working almost tirelessly to make sure that it was just right, exactly perfect for you. He worked on some holographic roses, fashioning each petal carefully, so they sat just so amongst each other. He had about seven by the time that you finally awoke, feeling... A little more like yourself. "Niran?" Your voice takes the Thai hero from his work, his brown eyes instantly seeking your face in the slightly pink tinged light coming from the roses he had been making. "What are you doing?" Your voice is a bit gravelly, but he can make you out just fine. "Why, making some flowers for you, of course..." He replies, proudly holding his handiwork out to you. You carefully reach out to take them, unsure if you can actually hold them in the first place. Turns out, you can. They feel quite warm, unlike normal flowers. "You didn't need to do that..." "I thought it was customary to get people flowers when they are ill?" "Well, yeah, sometimes, but it's just me... You really didn't need to-" "I wanted to..." Niran chuckles. "I care for you, of course I wanted to give you flowers... Is that so wrong?" He asks, and you can't help but smile at him. "I guess not, no..." You reply, "But how long have you been sitting there?" "Oh, since yesterday." He tells you, waving a hand as if it is not a big deal. You stare at him, slack jawed. Before you can say anything, Niran holds up a hand to silence you. "I have had food, drink and sleep, before you even think about telling me off..." "You shouldn't have-" "I wanted to... I didn't want you to be alone whilst so under the weather..." He told you, "I know you'd do the same for me in a heartbeat, so..." He shrugged lightly. You reach out, carefully taking his hand in yours - like the roses he had given you, they were warm. "Thank you, Niran..." He smiles at you as you speak, lowering his head for a moment, somewhat bashfully. "Oh, really, it's no problem - I was happy to do it... Just... Don't go getting sick on me all the time, hm? I'm sure I'd be called away sooner or later, and I'd hate to leave you..." You both laugh a little bit.
Niran decides to break the silence that falls over you both. "When you're back at full health... I'd like to take you out.. I can get us reservations at this fantastic restaurant. I've wanted to go for almost two months now, but I've had nobody to go with!" He exclaims, chuckling softly. "I'd love to go with you..." You tell him, "Only if I can pay, though." "No, no.. I'll be paying, I insist!" He replies quickly. "It's the least I can do for someone as wonderful as yourself... Let me treat you..." He pats your hand gently. "But only once you're completely well again... Until then... You rest.. I'll be right here..." He keeps his hand on yours, giving you that warm, gentle smile. "Now... Have another nap... I'll be right here, for when you wake again..." He tells you, and you slowly nod - you know he's talking sense, so you slowly get comfortable again, falling quickly back into a deep, restful sleep, assured that Niran is watching over you.

Tumblr media
Just One Touch
Lifeweaver x f!reader
Summary: Sometimes someone just needs a helping hand to meet the right one.
Pairing: Lifeweaver x fem!reader
Warning(s): fluff
Requested: yes, anonymous
Song:
Fear had always settled in whenever (Y/n) had met new scientists or doctors. They always poked her arms with needles and injected her with unknown substances. Even after being captured by a corrupt corporation like Talon. They would always treat her like a monster, an animal, because of what she could do. They would lock her up in the dark for days. That didn't mean they wouldn't feed her daily but only slide the food tray through an opening, and she would rarely see anyone's face. Whenever she did see anyone, it was like a nightmare. The doctors would always laugh and poke at her. Almost mocking her distress. She had always felt so alone, but maybe it was better this way, she had always thought.
So when she saw a bright light entering her room, she backed into a corner and cowered away from the person who had entered the room.
"Easy.. no need to.." He paused, his voice so gentle, but he was hesitant as he looked around the room. He almost looked at the room in disbelief, and when he looked back at her, his gentle eyes met her frightened ones. ".. You are safe now. There's no reason to panic, Kwāng n̂xy." This was enough for (Y/n) to furrow her brows in confusion. What did he call you? He chuckles, and from the way she flinched, he stops laughing and holds a hand up.
"No, please!" Her voice was practically begging him not to come near her.
"I won't hurt you." He reminds her and eases closer, but she rushes to another corner, shaking as she begs not to be touched. He stands up and looks at her. He could hear the rest of the Overwatch agents entering the Talon base. He didn't know what they did to her, he didn't know anything about her but she reminded him of a deer. Whatever they did to you must've been too much. He looked around the room before approaching the frightened thing.
(Y/n) could hear commotion outside the room, which made her curious what was going on. She barely noticed the man approach her. That was until she felt something familiar over her, a blanket. As she looked behind her, she found her eyes meeting something so peculiar. It was glowing a rose and gold color.
"Do you want to hold it?" Niran asked as he held the rose to her.
"Yes.. what is it?" She asked as she slowly held her hands towards it.
"It's a rose." He smiles as she held it, her fingers stroking the stem of the flower he had generated thanks to the technology he had created. The way her eyes looked at every part of the flower with such curiosity. It then hit him that she was a prisoner here, but for what? He wondered.
"It's not.. dying." She said.
"It's not supposed to.. not mine, at least." He mumbles the rest. "Why are you talking about death?" He asked as he kneeled down to her seated level.
"Everything I touch dies."
Those words hit him deep when he finally understood why you had been kept in this tiny little room. Still, this was no way to treat a human being. Especially someone so fragile looking as yourself.
Niran had brought you to Overwatch, the new and improved heroic team. That's where he and Satya had conducted their own experiments based on the Talon files. It was little what they could work with. Niran was sure to understand the things you can hold, what you can touch. Doctor Zeigler made it very clear, absolutely "no touching" the subject. But Niran would choose to go against this rule, just a bit. It wouldn't kill him to just touch you, right?
He understood he could not lay a hand on (Y/n), but no one was stopping him from conducting his own experiments. Even now, he could see the confusion in her doe-like eyes as he tied a cloth to one of your wrists before wrapping the entire cloth to your hand before he held it.
"See, it's like we're holding hands." He smiles brightly.
"Huh..? Holding hands." She gave his hand a small squeeze before looking up at him. "You want to hold my hand?"
For some reason, Niran felt his cheeks grow hot. "O-of course I would!" Smooth. "Who would not want to hold such soft and delicate hands?" A small laugh escapes her, and he can't help but high-five himself for making her laugh.
Later, both Satya and Zeigler have a talk about how dangerous you are to touch, and he should not "find out for himself" because it could lead him to his grave. Death was a constant thing they seemed to talk about whenever they referred to you. To (Y/n), in his eyes, he just saw someone so use to it that she thought it was rightful people not come near. But to him, he saw someone who had every right to experience human touch, life.
That's when a wonderful idea occurred to him.
"What are you working on?" Satya asked as she approached her old colleague from Vishkar.
"A test." He answers as he continues to focus.
"If it's for that woman, I would suggest you give it more thought." This makes him stop and look at her with confusion.
"Meaning?"
Symmetra rolls her eyes and points at his creations. "I would not even wear something so unsightly."
"But it's not a present for you." He smirks.
"Still, those are simply horrendous looking."
"It's a prototype." He pouts as he looks back at his work. "Although maybe it could use some beauty." He looks over to her as she smirks.
"Well, lucky for you, I'm here to help."
Niran couldn't help but think of how she'd react to seeing this gift he had made. He had the gift all wrapped up in a small box with a white ribbon to compliment the color.
"Well, go on. Open it." He urged you with a soft smile lining his lips as he watched how you shifted uncomfortably when he set the gift in front of her.
"What is it?" She asked as she hesitated to even touch the box.
"It's a gift. A surprise gift." He chimes as he holds his hands behind his back as he stands by the table of your much more decorated room with much more space for you to stretch your legs. It is still a place to confine her but with much more freedom. "The surprise is that you have to open it."
"Oh, I see." She said her fingers held onto the top of the box. Eyes showing how mesmerized she was already. This makes Niran smile in pure pride. "How is this.. gloves?" She asked as she placed the top of the box down and reached inside to hold the clear yellow laced fabric.
"Put them on." He insists as she did he immediately reached over and held her hands. She flinched back, moving away and glaring at him. Her eyes were more concerned if she had hurt him. "I'm alright.. see?" He holds his hand out, showing her every side.
"But I.. destroy things." She said quietly.
"If you happen to destroy things, I can always just fix them." He held her hands and gave them a gentle squeeze.
"And I kill things- I take life too." She lowers her gaze, feeling her eyes starting to burn with tears. He simply rolls his eyes and comes close, she flinched when she sees a familiar rose appear before her. When she looks up she can't help but gasp when she feels lips pressed against her own. She yelps, stepping back and clasps her hands over her mouth so fast. "Are you oka-!?" That's when she feels something against her lips. Looking down at it, she sees a single petal, still glowing with life before it disappears.
"You're not meant to be feared.. I think we just need to understand what we can learn from you and find a solution. Maybe one day cure you. If you'd like." He smiles softly as (Y/n) smiles.
"Thank you."
"It's no problem, Kwāng n̂xy." He answers.
"What does that even mean?"
"If I'd tell you that, you might kill me!" He winks and can't help the laugh that escapes his chest as his cheeks become more rose colored.
Translation: Kwāng n̂xy/กวางน้อย = little doe
Authors note: Yes, I'm working on other anonymous ask. Patience, my darlings. I've been waiting for someone to request this very handsome individual.
