her words are monotone in their typical way, but tinged with the guilt only her family can bring out of her. a look to the counter and the squash that had previously been a lamp. she sighs. “are you sure you don’t want me to turn it back? if not i can … cook it, i guess. i don’t know. i feel bad.”

“guess what i got.” doesn’t wait for an answer, just drops a weirdly heavy grocery bag on the counter between them. the grin on his face screams trouble but at the same time, he’s bouncing on his toes a bit. makes it hard to read exactly what to expect. “i did forget what i was supposed to get at the store though. but this is way better anyway.”

Plus Linclon being raised with the mentality that lying is wrong and the biggest form of betrayal, but having Grant basically lying to him (and Marco) his whole life.. And later on when he betrays Taylor and the rest if the group, by lying about the FBI spying on them, we can truly see how the oppositon to lying really is embedded into him, and how much he hates being untruthful to the ones he cares for

And even later on he literally disowns Grant for adopting him and letting him live happily in a lie, sheltered by a veil of false safety and comfort, essentially forcing him into inevitable lifescarring trauma!!!

Obsessed w the wilsons' theme of secrecy/obscuring of truth like. from small white lies like darryl's "financing" or his sodastream coke, to frank hiding the family situation from darryl with "going picnicking", to grant's whole ass secret identity.... very interesting

you think you may be somewhat agoraphobic. you don’t like going outside, much less into crowded places like the new york city streets. but duty (your job at the american museum of natural history, namely) prefers to call you there anyway, coaxing you out of some sort of self-induced hibernation. as you make the walk in under what feels like the hottest summer on recent record, you silently pray to a god you do not believe in to make it go by fast and largely uneventful.

unfortunately for you, that god is aware you do not believe in them and has decided to ignore you.

a usual snap of your fingers and the vibrations that bounce back are abnormal enough for you to make the effort to do a mental scan of your surroundings. you can’t see much, but you can feel. feel the car rapidly approaching a much smaller object (it could only be a pedestrian, you can’t tell from this far away). all of this being said, you could have simply heard the screaming.

you think you make out the boy from your local coffee shop, @lifescare — you’re not sure, he’s far and your vision has never been reliable even up close. you act as quick as you can, throw him out of the way of the speeding car with a flick of your hand and let your brows furrow as you walk up to him. as if it’s his fault.

‘i’m not helping you up.’ a manicured hand leaves the pocket of your trench coat to push your glasses up. your lips don’t move but your voice in his mind is annoyed, ‘do you make it a habit to step in front of moving vehicles ? just wondering.’
