I’m going to start a new series of random posts called “unsexy tips from your friendly neighborhood medical student that will change your life” and here’s the first one:
Chances are you’re not consuming enough fiber. Constantly feeling bloated? Constipated? Fatigued and sluggish? Yeah … that all comes down to fiber (or rather lack of it).
It doesn’t matter if you think you’re too young for this to be a problem, I promise that getting enough fiber will make a huge difference in how you feel every day! Your digestive system and endocrine system will thank you.
I personally drink one heaping teaspoon of sugar-free Metamucil mixed with a full glass of water every evening after dinner, but any psyllium fiber supplement will work.

You can eat all the “superfoods” and take all the supplements you want, but if you’re not getting enough quality sleep, you’re still going to feel like something is missing.
Bad sleep affects literally everything — your energy, hormones, digestion, immune system, memory, and even your appetite (yes, sleep deprivation makes you crave junk food).
A few simple fixes:
- Keep a consistent bedtime (even on weekends)
- Cut off caffeine at least 6 hours before bed
- Dim the lights and avoid screens 30–60 minutes before sleep
- Keep your room cool and dark
Small tweaks can have a big impact. Trust me.
