hyoseop had been surprised when he was told he was the younger out of the pair, and that he needed to pick their date spot. he’d been used to being older than many as a trainee, he would argue it wasn’t because he was old, but because these trainees and idols kept getting younger and younger. he’d originally chosen another spot, but as he talked with his sister and talked about the idea, she took the idea and left him to find another spot to have his date. he wanted to look good in front of his date, hence he’d chosen ‘cafe jool’, a place they could get something to drink, and paint a piece of pottery, which meant, hyoseop would get to show off his painting skill.

who his date was though, he had no idea. he’d been given an item as a hint who it was, a ‘justice scale’ had been shown to him, he’d stared at it for a long while before asking if he was going on a date with one of legacy’s lawyers. safe to say, he had no idea who his date was. still, he’d dressed up for the occasion, dropped his usual look that consisted of sandals, white tight shirt and sweatpants. changed it out with denim pants, converse and a shirt with flowers on it. he stood with a rose in his hand, waiting for his date (whoever they were) to show up.

In the not-so-cozy confines of the film set, Hyunsoo sits on the edge of an admittedly uncomfortable chair, script in hand, glasses delicately perched on his nose. The warm glow of the set lights cast a soft ambiance around him as he once more meticulously pores over the pages of the script for Black Banquet — a thriller he is all too ecstatic to star in. This scene marks one of the opening scenes that introduces both of their characters, setting the tone for their complex relationship throughout the film.

He looks up from the script after attempting to absorb himself into the character, a warm smile gracing his lips as he shifts attention back to his costar.

"How do you think their interactions would go? Personally, I feel your character would often lead the conversations. Her personality is quite strong in comparison. Obviously an extrovert."

Over the past few weeks, Hyunsoo had been tirelessly studying the description given to him about his character — Ryu Jisung. He seems an easy enough state to settle into, none too different from his own personality. However, Jisung has a stalwart, quiet determination about him.

"Shall we add another element of depth? Some other sort of conversation between the two of them... Perhaps on the way to the car. I think Jisung is the type to double check things. Maybe he's developed a hypervigilance because he wanted to be a civil servant." A lead up to the ad-libbed scene would do well to start with this sort of conversation. Considering the relationship between their characters, Hyunsoo strived to build a sense of comfort and camaraderie between them.

*  ♡  WAVES ON THE OCEAN.         a well earned break under the sun ( ft. @lgcyein  ).

     sunhwa wouldn’t ever categorize herself as a beach person. surf and sun, salt and sand— elemental combinations the blonde couldn’t, in good faith, say she enjoyed all too much ( at least, not in excess ). anytime she’d found herself spending time along the shore, she been doing so while lounging under the comfortable shade of an umbrella, strewn across a full length beach chair as she let the summer heat lull her muscles into a safe sense of calm. often, an entertaining book accompanied her if she found herself alone.

     thankfully, in wake of not having any fresh reading materiel to pass the time, yein had graciously agreed to spend some time with her along the shore. when sunhwa had seen the two of them would be staying in the same room for their bali trip, the blonde had been happy. sunhwa liked yein a lot, so any reason to hang out during their downtime was nice.

     “the locals are so lucky to have such beautiful weather like this as often as they do,” the blonde remarks, sunglasses perched atop her nose comfortably. in true relaxation mode, sunhwa pulls out her phone to snap a quick photo of the beach. it isn’t too crowded, still early in the day, so the sun hasn’t yet hit its peak. it’s warm, but not uncomfortably so. sunhwa looks to yein, lifting herself up from her seat a little. “when was the last time you were able to just . . . be out like this?”

For all the time Ichika had been in South Korea, she had never really needed to visit a market like this and couldn’t even say if markets like this even existed in Seoul. Logically, there might be some, but in the years since she had arrived, a good deal of her time had been confined within the company walls or experiences she could only have during schedules like this. Even prior to moving countries, she was a city girl, so to witness a similar bustle but in a different way was interesting. 

She kept close to Yein as she walked carefully, eyes lingering on the stalls of produce and grannies bustling around. “Have you ever been to a place like this?” she inquired almost absently as she walked. While she was quite close to Jieun, up until they were in the same drama earlier that year, she hadn’t really spoken much to Yein, which could be considered a bit odd since Jieun and Yein were so close and lived together. “I wonder if there’s something we should try...”

some people belong at places like prom—people who like dancing, maybe. or dressing up. people who like the spotlight, or something along those lines.

people who are undoubtedly of a different cloth than kim yubin—who is spending his precious prom wondering how much longer he has to avoid being dragged onto the dance floor during sad country song hour before it's socially acceptable to leave.

so far? it's been forty minutes. and he's willing to wait roughly five more before making his decision.

he's counting down the seconds in his head, having escaped the building for a breath of fresh air, when he nearly collides with someone for the second time that evening by the entryway.

"oh, sorry—" but his apology is cut off (by himself, for that matter) when his gaze locks with none other than ahn yein's. "my bad."

the pocket tension yubin keeps on hand when he's around semi-strangers and acquaintances alike—a steadfast reminder to stay vigilant and pleasant—fades when he realizes he's in the presence of a "friend." ("""friend.""")

"happy prom. sorry i almost knocked you over," yubin opts to say instead, smiling pleasantly—before his gaze flickers to the person behind yein.

Perhaps Parker really wasn’t the type to leave well enough alone, but in his defense, it’s not like he planned this, though he could have definitely not approached Yein when he saw her. For one, she looked beautiful, and for the other… Well, he was stupid. And perhaps there was a little bit of him that wanted to smooth over him approaching her not too long ago. Maybe they would talk and be friends and things would be cool? Really, there was only one way to find out. 

With light, confident stamps, Parker made his way over towards her, a small smile on his face. Potentially this was purposefully since having someone you all but ran away from approach you with a wide smile could be considered creepy. “Uh, hi, again,” he begins, probably being as mindful as one can ask. “Parker— my name’s Parker. I’m sorry about what happened before, if I was out of line or whatever.” Cool, cool, you’re doing great, Park!! “Are you having fun?”

jaehwa stood at the center of the dimly lit room, her fingers tightly clutching a necklace worth millions. just a few feet away, a gun was aimed directly at her, ready to fire at any moment. but the hesitation in the user’s grip was evident. this wasn’t jaehwa’s first time acting out a scene without a script. as an idol-actress, she had been tested countless times in previous dramas, forced to improvise on the spot. this was just another challenge.

understanding that yein’s character, boah, struggled to pull the trigger, jaehwa miyeon seized the opportunity. her expression remained unfazed, her eyes cool and calculating. at the mention of her ‘father,’ who was supposedly a thief too, she let out a scoff. “who said i’m following in his footsteps? he failed. got caught.” her voice was steady, almost mocking, as she took slow, deliberate steps forward. a smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. “you said it yourself. we used to be neighbors. can’t you turn a blind eye for old times’ sake?” her tone was almost teasing, her confidence unwavering. “i promise, i won’t be as dumb as him. i won’t get caught twice.”

"to be honest, i wasn’t exactly the active type before becoming an idol," jaehwa admitted with a sheepish smile. exercise was never her thing; the thought of dealing with sore arms and legs the day after a workout didn’t appeal to her. as a trainee, however, daily dance practices weren’t optional, and she had no choice but to push her body to its limits. whether she enjoyed it or not, those sessions did wonders for her stamina over time.

it wasn’t until the past few years, when fitness became a trend with influencers and celebrities sharing their workout routines, that jaehwa started to take a different approach. caught up in the movement, she began visiting the gym regularly, and now it’s become a habit for her to go at least once every two days.

"so to debunk that claim, no, not all idols are built different," she countered with a light chuckle. "while i’ve committed to staying fit now, i can assure you some of my members would much rather stay curled up in bed during their breaks. our stamina comes from years of training, not because we’re inclined to it."

yein nods, counting the time in her head. if they've already been at this for two hours, then another hour doesn't seem so bad. and if they go on for longer than that, then she would be tired, but she's determined to do everything and anything she can for this role. so whether it's one hour or more, all she can do is hope that her body will build up the stamina the more they train.

"i'm not really a physical activity kind of person." she admits with a shrug. yein has always been the princess type, sitting at home with her dog, watching shows, doing activities that didn't involve heavy exertion. it's why she had decided early on in her career that she wasn't going to be an idol, despite having trained for it in the first few months — she always knew that dancing wasn't for her.

she went to pilates every once in a while, when she felt like she was being too sedentary, or when her roommate asked her to, but now she's thinking maybe she should have gone more often. there's little she can do about that now though, so she doesn't think too much about it, and she smiles at jaehwa. "i guess idols are just built different."

The habit of being superstitious was an oddly prevalent trait in Lee Hyunsoo's family — in particular in his mother. He did not think a streak of bad luck would follow him so closely. On the contrary, he had plenty of deterrents to ward off anything malicious, including the charm he still swears was bestowed onto him by a ghost. However, as he steps onto the set once again, he swears there is a presence he can't shake. ( Beyond the knowledge that he would have to put on a mascot costume later. )

He uncharacteristically spaces out when he hears two staff members speaking in the break room, one of them whispering rather enthusiastically about a certain senior celebrity making an appearance in several scenes and her arrival to the set soon. "Nam Sarang...? No way..." He whispers to himself through a gasp — but perhaps he is a bit too loud when he sees them briefly glance his way. He scurries around the corner, blindly glancing over his shoulder.

Of course, he should know better than to expect for something unfortunate to not occur. Hyunsoo jolts and stops as quickly as he is trying to walk, causing him to nearly collide with another actor; only his foot knocking against hers. The papers from his script soon go flying in his brief bit of shock. He reaches out, frantically trying to catch a few before they hit the floor.

"S—Sorry, sorry!" He folds himself over in an apologetic bow, his ears turning red. "I wasn't paying attention."
