"lgc girls was formed after future dreams season 2 so i was part of the original lineup," she said, scanning the busy streets for the dango store. "if i remember right, we released both a korean and japanese album back then." being in a rotational group had been both thrilling and nerve-wracking. while members got a taste of debut life, they also knew the company could drop them at any time if they weren’t deemed worthy of the spot. she smiled confidently, adding, "not to brag, but if you need help with japanese, i’d be happy to practice with you. i’m fluent in both languages."
she peered over the crowded street while straining to spot the store amidst the sea of people. her height wasn’t much help and she found herself tiptoeing even in her platform sneakers. "i can’t see anything from here," she sighed, "so let’s trust the gps. we should reach the dango store soon," jaehwa said while holding up her phone to show sori the estimated arrival time on the screen.
lgcjaehwa
"let's see," jaehwa mused. she had been to japan a few times now. twice for crystallis' fanmeetings, once for promotions with lgc girls japan. that made three visits since she joined lgc. before that, there was a school trip during her first year of high school and a family vacation before she became a trainee. "so, i've been here five times. not sure if that counts as visiting often, but twice as an idol and once with lgc girls japan," she replied thoughtfully. "as for fabula, i don’t think they’re targeting the japanese market, probably more focused on the western audience." while she considered letting sori wait in line alone, the younger female wasn’t as familiar with the area and jaehwa didn’t want to risk her getting lost. "alright, let's go grab some dango then," jaehwa said with a nod, already pulling out her phone to search for the nearest shop. her fingers tapped quickly across the screen. "there’s one just a few meters away. google says it has four stars, so i’ll assume it’s good. at least we’ll have something to do while waiting for the queue here."
“ah, i think it’s my… third time? i wasn’t aware you’ve also been in lgc girls japan before, when did you participate in that?” most likely not her last time in japan, sori didn’t mind, she wanted to make time to make a list of all the things she’d like to try eating, she wasn’t aware of how truly good japanese food was before she tried actually visiting japan. she shrugs “you might be right on that one, my english is better than my japanese anyway, though i should probably find time to practice both”.
“just a few meters way? i’m surprised we weren’t able to spot it from here… but let’s go over there then! my stomach keeps making noises” she places a hand on her stomach. “four stars? let’s grab some! we can eat them while waiting in line for the takoyaki” she smiles at the other, the thought of food almost making her drool.

˚ ୧ .˚ₓ queen of cards !
ft @lgcsehun
after strutting down the red carpet with her beloved fennekin plush in hand, jaehwa stepped into what felt like a live video game. the entire venue was a vibrant blur of bright colors and sounds bursting from gaming stations. lgc's parties had always been impressive and this year was no exception. even though she’d had to dress as a character she barely knew, the detailed setup still took her breath away.
beyond the stunning decor, jaehwa noticed something odd: playing cards scattered around the room, tucked into unexpected places. at first, she thought they were just part of the decorations, but queen of hearts cards at a nintendo-themed party? something was definitely off. intrigued, she peeled a card off the back of a lamp, revealing the words “eat me.” she looked around, puzzled. there was nothing edible in sight near where she found it.
turning to someone nearby, she held up the card. "um, are we actually supposed to eat something, or am i missing the point here?" she asked, eyebrows raised.

it can’t be that difficult, right? jaehwa had a few modeling experiences under her belt — some professional shots in the studio and candid photos snapped by friends. taking some for photoism didn’t feel too far off from those, yet she couldn’t shake the nerves as her mind buzzed with thoughts about the poses she should try. her usual go-to poses didn’t quite fit this situation since she had to pretend to be posing with someone beside her.
and speaking of pretending, it felt a little awkward to go for a two-person pose when she was obviously alone.
that’s how she ended up pacing around the corner of the set, anxiously waiting for her turn. she wanted to come up with poses that were unique, something that would make fans say, “that’s so jasmine!”
soon, she was joined by yuxi in the cozy little corner. “not yet,” she replied, hands clasped behind her back as she rocked up on her toes to ease her nerves. “i want to do something fresh for my fans instead of the usual heart poses, but i’ve got nothing so far. have you decided?”
bias cut
˖◛⁺ @lgcjaehwa ࿐
While she had done some improvisation of modeling in the past, it certainly was different to this. That was crisis control, when so and so needed someone last minute to model their designs for class projects. She was tall, she was thin — she was the go-to person in those circles, as much as she minded.
To Yuxi, this was all new, that the product sold was herself. At least for their prior content there was the concept to fall back on.
Careful to avoid smudging the foundation on her shoulder, she evacuated her seat and found a spot in the set's corner to loiter about during the wait for her turn. She wasn't the only one with that idea: Jaehwa, her one-time roommate, was already there.
Yuxi peered over the rows of shoulders and equipment around the peripheries of the shoot. Adjusting her own dress, she turned to Jaehwa, "Have you decided on your poses?"

jaehwa listened intently as yujin suggested trying something different from their usual pure and classy concept. in her view, crystallis' current style suited their age group well, but she thought it would be refreshing to branch out occasionally. while most girl groups tended to stick to the usual styles, the idea of a sexy concept immediately crossed her mind. with their youngest member already twenty-two, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to explore something a bit more mature.
"mature with a hint of cute, huh? i think it suits you perfectly!" jaehwa agreed instantly, scrolling through the images yujin showed on her ipad. the ribbons had a cute, feminine vibe, but jaehwa wasn’t sure it was the right look for her. she wasn’t much of a "ribbon girl" and had been leaning toward edgier, cropped outfits lately.
"honestly, i don’t think ribbons would suit me. i mean, you can totally go for it, but i think i’ll try a different cute element," she explained, pulling out her phone and showing yujin a few photos. "how about these lace gloves for me? classy, mature, and just a bit cute," she suggested, turning her phone to face her group member. "what do you think?"
Now playing ᐢ. .ᐢ˖ ࣪ . grateful by @lgcjaehwa
"so i was thinking," bad idea for yujin to start having thoughts about what she could and couldn't do in this industry. "maybe we could go in a more, mature route but still have the cute elements in our outfits. like me with tiny bows in my hair while also feeling mature."
here's the thing about yujin, she always wanted to go more toward something that fit her age better. she was pushing twenty-five soon, and the thought of having to force something she no longer was would be hard (though, she'd get the job done regardless). So, any chance she got, the blonde would try her best to push for something cooler.
bringing out her ipad, she began to swipe through some inspiration images she found not too long ago and gently slid the device towards jaehwa. "I want to know your thoughts! we're going to be in a smaller group together and even taking photos alongside one another, so if you're not feeling this or think I'm being delusional, you can tell me." she laughs, wanting nothing more than to combine their own visions to get something great out of it.

"well..." she began to protest, though it was hard to deny that he had won the argument. in the end, she simply shrugged, lifting her hands in mock surrender. "fine, i can’t argue with that. but i’m sure she still sees you as one of her own, even with all the other kids." if anyone asked, her mother was like the korean version of molly weasley—always warm and caring.
she glanced over her shoulder, stealing a quick peek at his fridge. "let’s just go with whatever chef kim recommends," she said, turning back to finish setting the remaining plates. his comment made her snort with laughter. "lucky for you, i made sure to save some space. that spot was reserved a week ago. like i said, i’m not letting you spend chuseok alone, dinner included."
[ X ]
jinyoung smiles. obviously elated to hear that jaehwa's mother was so font of him. he was grateful. at least her parents were great people unlike his own status hungry excuse of parents. "I'm sure that's not true. she wouldn't be doting on me so much if she thought that way," he argues back, pressing another gentle peck to her temple.
"do you want to cook a main dish to go with these then," he proposes. "I can cook for us if you want. we should have some ingredients left to make skewers or beef soup," he thinks out aloud, letting go of her to walk back to check the fridge. "we can have a cozy chuseok dinner then. just us two. unless you already ate yourself silly at your parents' place," he remarks, very much happy to adjust his plants to accommodate the unexpected but welcome guest.

"oh! i tried dango on my last trip," jaehwa said, recalling the night she wandered the streets after a fansign, squeezing in a visit to a night market before traveling to the next city. with just an hour to explore, she made sure to try as much food as she could, dango included. while she couldn’t quite remember the exact taste, its chewy texture reminded her of tteokbokki. "i think it tasted a little sweet? like sweet tteokbokki, just without the sauce. do you know where the dango place is? we could go there after!" her eyes lit up as they landed on a familiar-looking store, similar to one she’d seen online. but her excitement faded when she noticed the queue snaking around the corner. "or… should we go now and come back later? what do you think?"
life was feeling much better, when future dreams ended it felt like her life had went downhill, she’d put her expectations too high, thought debut was guaranteed, but in the end, it had not been her time back then. she did join lgc japan girl which helped a bit, had she gone directly back to regular practice her time in future dreams might’ve been felt wasted. and sori used to see everybody as her rival, now that she had debuted, the sun shined again. she didn’t have to worry about never debuting, nor did she see people as her rivals anymore, she’d debuted, she’d won.
“have you been to japan often? it seems like a place not unusual for idols to visit, to do fansigns and concerts” she looks around, enjoying the vibe, “i wouldn’t be too surprised if legacy had me learn japanese to come out with a japanese single or something” she shrugs. “you’re making it sound even better, i haven’t checked out where you can get it, but i’m sure it’s just a google search away”. “ah… the line is a bit long and i’m a bit hungry… what about we get some dango first and then return to here to try their takoyaki?” she turns her head to look at the other.

LGC GIRLS BREAKER: ASMR CHALLENGE word count: 422
jaehwa loves asmr videos, particularly those featuring people eating. while these videos often leave her craving a midnight snack, the sounds of chewy noodles and crunchy kimchi were her favorites. besides slurping on her noodles, she considers herself a quiet eater. so when she had to do the asmr challenge, she knew it would be a breeze.
her menu was a roll of kimbap and a packet of blue lemonade. she began by tying her hair back, making sure nothing would interfere. her fingers gingerly traced the edges of the aluminum foil that wrapped the kimbap, slowly peeling it back. thankfully, the foil was quiet as long as she handled it slowly. however, patience wasn’t on her side as jaehwa was starving and the temptation to tear through the wrapping was strong. but any noise louder than 35 decibels would reduce her chances of winning so she proceeded cautiously.
placing the kimbap gently on the table and rolling it out, she glanced up at the staff to gauge their reactions. she leaned close to the mic and took a bite of the savory roll, only to chew carefully when she felt a piece of cucumber. after easily finishing the rest of the kimbap, jaehwa moved on to the blue lemonade.
despite the drink packet having a convenient notch for opening, jaehwa wasn’t particularly graceful with these things. the last time she tried, she tugged too hard and ended up spilling the beverage all over the table. with no scissors in sight, she resigned herself to using the notch again. holding her breath, she slowly pulled at the packet. it was going well until she had to exert more force but thankfully, this time there was no mess. next came the plastic cup which had a tightly sealed lid, notorious for making noise.
as she removed the lid, the crinkling plastic betrayed her by producing a sound that made her wince. the seal underneath was trickier as she had to puncture it and peel it off entirely, which added to her list of mistakes. two strikes and she was determined not to make a third. as she carefully poured the lemonade into the cup, the clinking of ice against the glass triggered the alarm, signaling that she had crossed the noise limit. jaehwa took a deep breath to stay composed. she gently inserted the straw and took the smallest sip possible, hoping to avoid further mishaps. after realizing she hadn’t exceeded the limit, she quickly finished the drink to complete the challenge.

"well..." jaehwa hums, suspecting he’s probably hungry at this hour. "you can finish all of these as payment! my mom would be thrilled. the last time i mentioned we had leftovers, she went, 'aigoo, why didn't you feed him? he's a growing boy!'" she mimics her mother’s voice with an exaggerated expression. "at this point, i think she considers you more her son than me her daughter."
as he takes the bags from her, jaehwa's gaze instinctively falls on his arms. "ooo, someone's flexing, i see," she teases with a playful grin, breaking into laughter as she moves to help him unpack the containers and transfer the food into plates. "of course not," she continues. "with me around, your chuseok memories will be full of happiness in no time!"
[ X ]
her timing was impeccable. he'd just showered and was getting ready to figure out what to have for dinner when her sweet voice interrupted his browsing through the various food delivery apps he had on his phone.
a smile on his lips he welcomed her easily. phone immediately placed on the table, his full attention was on her as she strode into his apartment. "well what forms of payment do you accept," he questions with a teasing undertone, moving to help her with all the tupperware containers and set them down carefully, he presses a kiss to her temple, leaving the towel previously around his neck on a stool by the counter.
"I could have guessed you wouldn't let me get away with being a homebody on chuseok."

LGC FAMCON 2K24: APPRECIATION word count: 301
this year’s family concert provided an opportunity for the other crystallis members to shine, and jaehwa was more than happy to step back and let them take the spotlight. after all, she had her moment during previous concerts, so it was important to give her fellow members their chance to dazzle. the change in pace was actually refreshing. she didn’t need to worry about rushing from one outfit change to the next or hurriedly preparing for a quick transition between performances. for once, jaehwa could take her time with her preparations.
lounging on the couch, she glanced up from the mobile game she’d been playing as the onyx girls exited the dressing room. they had just finished with their makeup, which meant it was now jaehwa’s turn. “good luck!” she called after them, offering a supportive smile before settling into the stylist’s chair. immediately, the team sprang into action, one stylist focusing on her hair while another began working on her makeup. jaehwa continued playing her game, carefully holding her phone at a distance so as not to disrupt the stylists at work.
it felt a little strange, but also kind of nice, to not be caught up in the usual chaos. with her hair and makeup finished, jaehwa realized there was still plenty of time left before she had to join the rest of the girls. wanting to show her appreciation for the hardworking staff, she quickly ordered drinks to treat them. “unnie, i’ve ordered some drinks via delivery, but i won’t be here when they arrive,” she told one of the staff members who was helping her to hide the in-ear under her outfit to ensure everything looked neat. “please enjoy them deliciously!” she called out cheerfully, before heading out to get her microphone attached and join the others.

˚ ୧ .˚ₓ yummy chuseok !
ft @lgcjinyoung
although chuseok is best spent with family, jaehwa knows her boyfriend isn't much for celebrating it. after an early dinner with her own family, her mom packed up some side dishes and jaehwa made it her mission to deliver them to jinyoung’s apartment. with jinseo away for the holidays, she had a strong hunch that he’d try to skip the festivities by spending the day alone. but she wasn’t about to let that happen.
after confirming he was home, she grabbed the heavy bags full of tupperware and made her way to his place. "delivery!" she called out, pushing the door open with her back. "side dishes for a mr. kim! how would you like to pay?" she asked, giving her best delivery person impression with a playful grin spreading across her face.

when she caught sight of his face, jaehwa instinctively tilted her head, puzzled by how familiar he looked. sure, she had robbed him before but now that she could see him more clearly, it felt like she had seen him somewhere else. deja vu washed over her as if this very moment had played out before.
“a strange place to be looking for someone, don’t you think?” she quipped with a hint of sarcasm. most people search in towns, put up posters or ask around. but here he was, leaning against a tree in the middle of the forest, hoping for a stroke of luck.
darn. her eyes narrowed when she saw him stash the pouch away. great, now she'd have to get closer. she briefly touched the knot securing the black handkerchief over the lower half of her face, ensuring it was tight. with a few swift moves, she descended the tree, though she kept her distance. “if you're looking for someone, why here of all places?” she asked, her tone edging on curiosity.
[ X ]
tipping his hat back to get a look at the robber, he almost couldn't believe his eyes at what he saw. the very person he had been losing sleep over, while at the same time doing nothing but dream of her before his very eyes. if not for the absurdity of their meeting, jinyoung would have pinched himself to be certain he wasn't still in deep slumber.
could they possibly know what his innermost desire was? were they using a spell to portrait what his inner eye longed to see the most? jinyoung wasn't sure but it still knocked the air out of him for a moment.
"I've been looking for someone," he admits. "I suppose you could say I had no desire to seek for any treasure but that person. clearly your fair looks are deceiving of how capable you are," he decides to respond, pocketing his pouch once more, interested to see if she were to try and steal it again- interest to see if her appearance was a mere disguise or if she was truly his fated one.

˚ ୧ .˚ₓ tokyo foodies !
japanese cuisine had always been one of jaehwa's favorites (second only to korean food, of course!). everything was delicious during her last visit and she made a promise to herself to try out the street food the next time she returned. so, when she found out she’d be heading back to japan, street food hunting instantly topped her bucket list. she even spent the plane ride researching and compiling a must-try list of local delicacies. linking arms with sori, the duo dedicated an entire day to indulging in japanese food and snacks. dieting was out the window; today was all about eating. "i heard there's a famous takoyaki stand nearby and right next to it, there is a shop that sells everything matcha. i just hope the lines aren’t too long today. even on a weekday, these streets are packed!"
sori had never traveled prior to joining legacy, the furthest she had went was jeju island. once she did travel to other countries though, she instantly fell in love with it. it was exciting to explore new places, seeing how other parts of the world worked, and most importantly: it was amazing to try new food. sori had already been in japan a few times, she’d already tried a bunch of food, but there was still a bunch of food to try.
she’s walking around with jaehwa, the two having linked arms, and she’s looking around, bright eyes and a big smile due to the smell of delicious food. “i don’t think i’ve gotten to try takoyaki yet, we should definitely get that!”. “ah when i researched japanese street food, i found something called dango, i think i’d like to try that as well, i’ve seen it, never tasted it though”. “i’ve saved up for this street food trip, so let’s eat until we can’t anymore!”.

WELCOME TO GYESEUNG: BACKSTORY word count: 361
robin hood exists in gyeseung in the form of ahn jaehwa, a thief from the shadow woods sect who steals from the nobles and distributes their gold to the poor.
born into a family of seven, with four other siblings, the ahn family had just enough to get by. sometimes they had to stretch their resources but on lucky days, there was enough for a feast. as the fourth child, jaehwa was once the youngest, leading a sheltered life free from hardship. but when her younger sister was born, jaehwa quickly learned the weight of responsibility as she was tasked with caring for the new addition to the family.
one day while taking her sister out, jaehwa witnessed a nobleman bullying a homeless person, even going so far as to spit into the beggar’s bowl. jaehwa stood frozen, powerless. she didn’t have enough to feed herself, let alone help someone else. when her sister asked why the noble spat into the beggar’s bowl, jaehwa struggled to explain the cruel reality of life for the lower class. it was then that she vowed to help the poor when she gained more power.
after joining the shadow woods sect and honing her skills, jaehwa carried out her first robbery with the help of a few friends she met while wandering the woods — a nobleman traveling by carriage. to remain anonymous, they dropped the bags of stolen gold at the entrance of a poor village.
jaehwa never kept a single coin for herself. every piece of gold she stole was donated to those in need. as her heists became more frequent, word of the mysterious robber spread throughout the nearby towns and eventually making her a wanted criminal. but no one knew who she was. thanks to her shadow manipulation skills, the authorities had no clue about the thief’s gender, height or age. there were no leads on capturing her either.
she kept her side venture a secret from her sect, afraid that she'll get kicked out if they ever found out. so when the sect leader sent her into the pocket realm, jaehwa knew exactly where her next mission would take her.
