��    The male sits and fiddles with his shirt, though he’s not too sure as to why, he’s for some reason a bit shy. Hyunggeun has gone on countless of dates before, so he really has no reason to be shy, but perhaps it’s the cameras around him, the fact that he knows this date will be recorded. Hyunggeun usually isn’t shy around cameras either, he’s both used to cameras and dates, still, his heart is beating a tad faster than usually. 

     The male reaches out to take the basket of food he brought and looks down into it, it still looks good, doesn’t it? Hyunggeun’s grandfather is the one who taught him how to cook, and he for sure is a great cook, Hyunggeun is just scared that he doesn’t completely have the talent of his grandfather and that he isn’t a great cook like people tell him he is. When he cooks for others they usually tell him he’s good, but maybe they’re lying to make him feel better? Oh no what if that’s the truth.

     There it goes again. Hyunggeun overthinking everythinking everything.

     Hyunggeun drives a hand through his hair and sighs at himself, and then he sees a female figure coming towards him, hurriedly the male stands up, and as she’s closer he bows deeply for her, immediately puts on a smile. “Hi! I’m Hyunggeun” he says in a joyful tone, stretching out a hand as a sign he wants to shake her hand.

₊ ˟    this is the second time she’s not taking part in the future dreams show, but this time it’s a little easier to bear than the first.  the first time was unwilling, the second time is a choice.  what’s good is that legacy is still giving their trainees who won’t be participating a chance to grow and flourish into the artists they’re born to be and that’s what allie intends to do with this trainee mission.  hopefully it’ll be enough to put her on the path that she wants to be  -  in order to succeed, she’ll give it her best.

working with hyunggeun for one part of the performance sets is going to be easy, she thinks.  they’re friends after all, and she finds that hyunggeun is rather agreeable to work with when it comes down to it.  for now, they decide to figure out a few songs that they could work on together as a rapper and a singer duo because  -  that’s what’s important.  deciding a set list first will set the tone for the practices later.

“ have you picked out any songs you like?” allie asks with a smile, setting down her notepad and pen as she sits across from her partner for the mission.  “ i have a few choices, but i want to hear yours, too!”

Hyunggeun truly confused her when they first met. Something about him made her think that he was also chinese. He also answered her when she spoke. Imagine her surprise when he reveals that he isn’t a Korean  trainee.He did look it but he spoke in Mandarin with Mei easily. Mei didn’t ask very many questions. Instead she nodded like she understood and winked at him. It was playful and she wasn’t sure why she did it. From then on, somehow they always said hi in the company halls. Hyunggeun and her even went out to eat food together. Ddokbboki after a particularly grueling training session was the very best. It was during one such outing that she asked “So, what’s the story?” finally getting into things about each other besides surface level knowledge.

“You look korean. Where are you from in China?” she continues. She’s using her chopsticks to pick up a piece of rice cake and shoving it in her mouth. She chews happily indulging in one of her favorite foods since moving to Korea and looks over at Seungmin expectantly. There was also the fact that his name was Korean but that could easily be attributed to getting a korean name when he moved. Either way, he was a nice and sweet friend that she met but didn’t know anything about. Going off on her own to follow her dreams had allowed Mei to meet people from all over with all sorts of backgrounds. Nothing like her life before. It was very interesting to her.

One thing that could be said about Jacob was that despite a somewhat boisterous and goofy personality, he was incredibly conscious of his peers and their sentiments. It probably came from being bullied so much in childhood, but it was a quality all the same now he believed, for being able to read the mood was a very good skill to have as an entertainer. Which was also why he had started to worry about a fellow trainee quite a bit as of late. Being in the same training group, he dared say he knew Hyunggeun somewhat, even though they never really talked much, so it was easy for Jacob to notice a shift in the other’s mood.

Perhaps for personal reasons.

Perhaps due to the stress of the concert being just around the corner.

He couldn’t even begin to guess and it wasn’t his place to do so either, but still he couldn’t help but feeling worried seeing the other’s face painted by anxiety so often. So when the other came back from a particularly long toiled break Jacob couldn’t do anything but voice his concern. “Say, Hyunggeun? Sorry if this isn’t for me to ask, but I want to hear it coming from your own mouth. Are you okay?”

do you see yourself as an embarrassment?

“fight me.”

you're aiming to become a main vocalist, but how do you know whether or whether not that is a realistic goal?

“which part of it would be unrealistic?” there’s a slight edge in his question, but brown hues remain steadfast. “i’m confident of my vocal skill. i may not be the best singer in the agency, but that doesn’t mean i’m not someone to be reckoned with.”

Wow. Just wow. Who in their right mind actually asked a question like that? Way to stab a dagger into his wound and twist it to make it hurt even more than it already did. His dad had died many years ago and the fact alone was already healed up more or less, that wasn’t what made him sad any more. But the way his death had influenced the family, especially his mother even to this day was a pain to watch. His mother lived with her sister for the time being while she was still too weak to take care of herself, and in the beginning his aunt hadn’t been too keep on Soobin signing as a trainee, especially not before he graduated high school. He wanted to help in any way he could and she wanted him to just live a normal life with a stable income. So if anything…

“Well,” he began hesitantly, biting his bottom lip. “Of course I’d actually have a father in my life… I would have a mother who didn’t blame herself for everything that happened and probably had more mental capacity to fight her own illness. I would have a mother who didn’t have to overwork herself to the point of fatigue to be able to afford having us. I probably wouldn’t have ever thought about becoming a trainee either because I wouldn’t have needed the extra money. I’d probably be in university this year studying music theory which I can’t afford right now. Or maybe even have a job. My mother won’t let me work while training because they don’t want me to overwork myself. Kind of hypocritical of her, isn’t it…” A dry laughter left him.

SPACING-OUT: How and why did you become a trainee? Was being in the entertainment industry your dream since the beginning?

“yes! i definitely want to be in the entertainment industry. i’ve always enjoyed performing, and dancing. the entire experience is… definitely overwhelming, but it’s good. i love that it pushes me.” 

“i became a trainee when i was younger, i think it’s been the majority of my teenage years. i wanted to do it, i was lucky enough to get cast through auditions, and i’m grateful. my whole life has changed because of it and i hope to remain with legacy!”

How much (or how little) of yourself are you willing to share with your future fans?

“It depends on what they want to know! I do want to be honest with my fans but there are some things that are more personal. Simple trivial stuffs are fine, as long as it can pull the gap closer between me and the fan,” she nodded as she suddenly remembered a past scene of herself. “I’ve been a fan girl before and I absolutely understand how important it is to get to know your idol more. Since they will be your inspiration, it is common to know them more as a whole human being, not just another stranger singing on stage.”

relay, what qualities do you need to see in someone else to feel like you can trust them?

“Why would I trust someone” the young male begins his sentence with, eyebrows furrowing and lips turning into a straight line. He doesn’t like this question, no most definitely he doesn’t like this question. “I make everyone believe I trust them, I always tell people some secrets, tell them that I trust them, that way they feel special, as if I care about them, but actually trusting someone? Actually letting someone hear my secrets, know my secrets, I really wouldn’t do that, that would make me feel vulnerable, wouldn’t it? I would hate that, trusting somebody… It sounds scarier than anything if I got to be honest. The only way I’d trust someone is if they were damn me” Hyunggeun ends off his sentence, leans back and looks away, he knows what he just said is the truth, even if he doesn’t fully want to admit that. Hyunggeun looks down, mayhaps, just perhaps, perhaps he has trust issues.

“I’m a very transparent person.” Except for the hint of a smirk, hidden behind a little a well times lip bite, may say otherwise. Everyone knows the sort of things Viggo gets up to on his spare time, the only difference is that there wasn’t solid evidence to pin him against his devilish acts. Mostly, because he was so good at evading cameras and leaving the scene just in time before getting caught. 

With that said, the rumours and all had layers of truth in it. “What they see, is what they get. That goes for, well, everyone. Fans, my coworkers in Legacy and even my family.” He shrugs, Viggo was never the type to ‘hide’ things, he just knows when it is appropriate to sneak out or not. It was also a fact, that he is incredibly hardworking and dedicated to achieving his dreams as an idol. But that doesn’t deter him from living his life to the fullest. 

“So I guess, what that really means is that I’m willing to ‘share’ however much is already out there but nothing more and nothing less.”

do you regret joining legacy? wasn't there many things you had to give up to join? are you satisfied with your choices?

“i think you should ask if they regret signing me,” sejin jokes, following it with a wide laugh that he tries to stifle with his hands. 

it seemed like a silly question to him. he’d constantly felt lucky to have had legacy want to sign him. most of the other companies eyed him up and down when they found out what he was and then disappointed struck him down. they weren’t looking for some former prodigy who could only play guitar. his vocals were hardly up to skill. and he might as well been a disaster when it came to dancing. “i don’t think i gave up much,” he adds with less consideration, shaking his head. “i was doing music before. i’ve done music my whole life. playing guitar, composing, writing lyrics. i can still do all that here. and if i wasn’t here… i.. i’d probably still be standing outside auditions, hoping someone would sign me. i don’t considered this a choice. not really.”

he pauses, shaking his head again. “you don’t choose what makes you happy. it just does and you just.. have to hold onto it.”

imagining yourself living with a clone of yourself, how long would there go before you would get tired of your clone?

“i don’t think i would get tired of my clone!” she answers without a second thought. “i think i’d marry her after a while, actually.” she adds before bursting into a laugh. nothing bad with some self love!

if you don't like commitment then how do you know that you won't just debut in an idol group to leave it?

“I don’t actually mind commitment unless it is about romantic relationships.” As a person who had been on sports teams for years in high school and committed to participating in major school plays, Yonghwa knew he wasn’t afraid of responsibility. Relationships, however, were different. He was fine with friendships but any time the word ‘love’ came into the equation, he tends to become a bit more anxious. He tried multiple times to fall in love with a girl and hold on to his affection, to look at her and only her. In the end, he always failed. Something always went wrong and feelings ended up being hurt. 

Perhaps it was a curse.

what is special about you? why should you debut when there are so many trainees?

“i don’t think i’m overly special in any way, but i think my energy is what makes me stand out and will make me a good addition to any team!”
