Last night I had a dream where Christian Kane posted a picture of some prop chairs on the set of leverage redemption with the caption "this might bring back some old memories for og fans." And somebody figured out they were the same chairs that used to be in the brewpub and suddenly everyone was coming up with theories about it, like maybe they're moving back to the brewpub in season 3 or maybe it's for a flashback explaining why they left the brewpub in the first place.
Also somehow someone figured out that the chairs were the kind of prop chairs designed for stunt fights. The ones designed to break super easily.

So, I know Leverage: Redemption S3 has started filming. However, with Gina Bellman being an unapologetic zionist who who I recall on twitter saying that Jews needed "israel" (give or take), I won't be posting about Leverage Redemption anymore.
For those who are saying "stop watching stranger things and the last of us," unfortunately, Leverage Redemption needs to be added to that list.

The way season 5 is literally having Eliot be the third person in Hardison and Parker's relationship is going to drive me to drink, this is incredible I need twenty million more of it

What ever happened to the whole "the team minus Nate knows Sophie's real name" storyline that literally lasted three wholeass seasons? I assume Nate would've gotten it eventually (i can't remember if they alluded to him knowing in the finale), but even if he didn't and it just stayed a whole running joke this entire time.... he's dead. Why do Parker, Hardison, and Eliot still call her Sophie? Why haven't they even addressed it? Or is it connected to the whole thing of her past getting dug up and they're keeping it for a big reveal? In which case i still don't really get why they don't even address it as a thing.

One of my favourite things about Leverage (I'm onto S3 of the rewatch) is the number of times Eliot, Parker and Hardison say some variant of "like I taught you".
Eliot teaching Parker combat skills, Hardison teaching Eliot tech skills, Parker teaching Hardison lockpicking skills. All three of them building each other into multiple-disciplined crime crew in a way that makes perfect sense for all of the characters.
And the way it escalates in Redemption as well, when Parker has designated Vent Practise for the boys and Hardison gets grumpy about being compared to Eliot for his lack of vent skills 🤣
From S1, there's always been that "what would [character] do?" and they used it to full effect in the S1 finale with Nate and Sophie using the skills of the others to bust them out of Sterling's clutches.
They do the same again with the S1 finale of Redemption as well, when the head of RIZ underestimates them because she doesn't count on the degree of skill shuffle they have at their fingertips.
But it doesn't stop there - it extends to the personal as well. Some of my favourite quiet little moments are
Eliot taking the time to show Parker how to appreciate food because she's never had anyone who did that for her before and lived on cereal and junk food her whole life, because it's something he loves and he wants to help her understand it.
Parker being Hardison's comfort in the buried-alive episode, when she uses her own skills and experience and familiarity with being in small enclosed spaces to talk to him and keep him calm.
Hardison and Parker dancing so she can manage to move the right way for a con - it's so quietly intimate and simple - and then him knowing she's panicking when the thing goes wrong and humming the song so she can recover the steps and pull it off.
This is the heart and soul of the show - these characters supporting and sharing the things they care about with each other. They love each other so much and know each other and trust each other, as much as they poke and roast and tease one another.

Is leverage redemption worth watching? I love Leverage but idk if i could enjoy the show if hardison isn't in most episodes or if the reboot sells out in some way.
okay so I showed up to this ask like four months late with a smoothie so I'm sorry about that BUT
does redemption have it's flaws? yes, I will be the first to admit that!
however, as someone who deeply loves leverage, the characters and what the show stands for, I still can find myself enjoying redemption.
there's one post that's in my drafts talking about the differences between the og and redemption and the so-called universe physics (how logic works in both shows and how they are the same/differ) and there are definitely some differences. there are some really good posts comparing them in the tags and I'll try to tag them as watch redemption when they come up!
I'm going to be really honest right now and say that (no shade) I feel like redemption s1-2 were lacking because john rogers was not a main writer for them. devlin and the others are great and know their stuff, but redemption was missing some of the grit (balanced with everything else) that the original run had. redemption is more fun and lighthearted (where the og was still fun and had comedic elements but also had a more jaded perspective). I think part of that change is the absence of nate as a character and what he brought to the table, but the other part of that is very much the way the show is written overall
I have seen some criticism about parker being a caricature of what she was in the original run (ex: how she goes to a child's psychologist and uses puppets sometimes, is overtly weird, more loud about stuff, etc) BUT I will say that I think there's some nuance to that
I don't think the child psychiatrist thing is infantalizing- some methods of therapy work for people more than others and that is me speaking as someone who works in mental health. if play therapy and stuff like that work for you as an adult, good for you! whatever works for you is more than enough the overtly and loudly being weird thing I really do think can be taken either way. in the original run part of parker's character progression was that she was learning how to interact with people normally (or at least more efficiently), but her being more out about that now can be taken as she is more comfortable in her skin and acting like she wants because she is surrounded by people who love and support her. maybe she doesn't want to (or have to!) mask all the time and I don't see a problem with that
HOWEVER! there are certain criticisms that are related to her characterizations and overlaps with her autism and I don't want to speak over the autism community about those aspects and how they have manifested in her character in redemption so I'm leaving it there
as for the hardison being absent aspect- I was REALLY afraid of that at first BUT the loss isn't so deeply impactful when you have characters like breanna and harry added to the mix. I went in ambivalent about harry and excited to have breanna (a canon queer) joining the team, but I have come to love and cherish both of them dearly and wouldn't want to replace them or lose them as characters in this found family ensemble. I think the writers handled aldis' packed schedule really well and even though he isn't there in most episodes, his presence is still very much around. parker and eliot talk about him and reference him when he's gone. so do sophie and breanna, even harry. he isn't on the screen but the relationships he's formed with the other characters and the impact he's had on them is very evident.
there are some takes from users about whether or not the ot3 was queerbait, un-canoned, etc in redemption. I have a lot of thoughts about it and a lot of them are incomprehensible but what I can say is that I have renewed hopes for the progression and canon development of their relationship now that john rogers is back as the main writer for s3

Results are in!
I don't think anyone's surprised The Long Goodbye Job won, we can all agree it's an incredible episode.
Shoutout to The Museum Makeover Job & Crowning Achievement Job, you tried your best (statistically the least number of people will have seen these episodes in comparison to the others, so it's not too surprising)

It never once occurred to me during the original run of Leverage (or during the first season of Redemption) that Eliot’s parents were Black, but as soon as they get to the reveal in “The Fractured Job,” both Spouse and I were like OH. THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE.
(I would like to expand more on WHY it makes sense, but I need to organize my thoughts and I’m tired. But it really, really does.)
And Keith David was such a perfect choice to play Billy Spencer. The degree to which he and Kane were able to mirror each other’s body language and gestures was slightly uncanny and really helped to sell the reconciliation after 30 years of estrangement and the fact that they still loved each other in spite of it all.
I loved the backstory of WHY Spencer Sr. didn’t want Eliot to join the military, and that the institutional racism behind him being denied the Medal of Honor was explicitly called out.
Also loved how Hardison is clearly having one of the best days of his life at finding out about Eliot’s parents, and how much Billy and Breanna bonded. I’d be so happy to see him turn up again in S3.
Perfect episode, and one of my all-time favorites.

I love the scene in s3 leverage where they have the christmas episode and give each other gifts at the end and parkers inner child is so palpable. It's so precious to me that her traumatised inner child gets to have that beautiful happy moment. You can see it in her face when she is about to receive her present and she is so hopeful which speaks to how safe she feels with the team, but she still doesn't quite believe that it's real and won't get snatched away again. But then it doesn't and she is so happy, and then it snows as well, and she gets to feel safe and happy for once as a retribution for all of that she didn't have in her childhood.
And i love how she lives out the christmas spirit even more in redemption, and that it's always mentioned or shown that she gets a gift at christmas. It's important

Dammit Hardison - The Compilation
[watch it on youtube]
[watch the companion, Dammit Parker]
Here it is, every instance of dammit Hardison in Leverage and Redemption! I've given a bit of context with every scene, rather than just the two seconds it takes to yell dammit Hardison.
Eliot says this phrase 14 times in Leverage and 6 times in Redemption, plus it being said 3 times by other people, bringing us to a grand total of 23 dammit Hardisons! And now you can enjoy them all!
Here's to hoping there's more in S3 of Redemption!!!
(edit: LMAO WHOOPS i accidentally skipped one of the bonus dammit hardisons on my first render of this video! 🤦🏼‍♀️it's now edited and included in here but boy do i feel silly, can't believe i missed it the first time around. the numbers above have been updated as well. there's only one person i can blame this on: dammit hardison!)

I would like to add:
Figure skating episode except this time Hardison gets to be the one made famous. Maybe him and Parker are a figure skating duo.
Eliot in a sweater vest and glasses.
More Eliot backstory and more of his dad.
Also a deeper look into Hardison's backstory and life as a foster kid. I'd love to meet more of his siblings!
A long term girlfriend for Breanna. Like one who sticks around and who's in more than one episode. Maybe bring back the one from the date night job. She seemed cool and I think she'd be willing to look past the crime.
Three words: Leverage. Escape. Room.
An incomplete list of things I want from season 3 of leverage redemption:
More Parker running the cons! (Nate passed on the roll of mastermind to her for a reason, damnit!)
Eliot's hair beads and more floof please (#freethefloof2024)
Sterling!
On a similar note: Mr. Quinn, McSweeten, and Dr. Paul
Can Hardison please be in it more than he was the last two seasons! Please! I need my three soul bonded faves to be together again! (I understand why that might not be possible, but I want it🥺)
Let Eliot Spencer get more hugs!
Historical au episode centered around Eliot and Hardison. Someone suggested it be an old Western theme and now i can't stop thinking about it! (Sorry I don't remember who suggested it, but if you know, feel free to tag them or let me know so I can tag them)
A whole episode with just Eliot, Hardison, and Parker doing crime shenanigans and bonding/making up for lost time since Hardison was gone for so long.
Musical episodes!
I want Eliot to shoot a bow and arrow.
