Okay, I'll admit, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a Harry x reader fic, but I LOVED THIS

Flowers and Confessions

Plot: Y/n keeps receiving various flowers at headquarters from an unknown person. Each flower seems to hold some sort of confession.

Hearing Sophie enter the room, you looked over, your interest piquing as you saw a large bouquet of flowers in her hands.

Hearing Parker let out a soft "ooh" you realized everyone's attention was now on her.

"Nice flowers who are they from?" You asked with a smile and curious tone.

She smiled "I have no idea, they're for you."

You sat up straight as she came and set the flowers in front of you. Your heart seemed to beat faster as you grew ever more curious.

The bouquet was comprised of red dahlias with green foliage littered throughout.

"Ooh, Y/n got flowers?" Breanna said with a mused and playful tone.

You looked around to see everyone's eyes, on you and you suddenly felt a bit nervous. Your eyes lingered on Harry for a moment, and a thought briefly fluttered through your mind before disappearing.

The smell of the flowers drifted to your nose and you smiled softly. Maybe a thank you for the last job? You became pretty friendly with the client.

Seeing a small card sticking out of the flowers, you pulled it out and opened it up. The note was short, and typed out.

'Red Dahlias: Love at First Sight.'

Your heart seemed to skip a beat as it felt heavy in your chest. What is this, a love confession? The last client didn't fall in love with you did they? Your neck and ears seemed to burn hot as you stared at the note. No name was left.

"So what does it say?" Sophie asked.

You looked over at he "Nothing, just-"

"A love confession!"

You jumped as Parker's voice sounded from right behind you, where she had read the note over your shoulder.

"Parker!"

She skipped around you and plopped down on a stool "Who do you think it's from?"

You shrugged lightly, speechless at the sudden turn of events.

"There's no name?" Sophie asked as she came over and plucked the note from your hand "Wow, how bold, and romantic." She mused.

"Well it is almost Valentines Day." Harry spoke up from the other side of the bar.

You met this eyes and he had his brow raised as he made the suggestion.

"I don't know." You said slowly "Maybe it's from the last client?"

"You two did seem to get along really well." Breanna noted "You gonna reach out and ask?"

You shook your head "No, I don't think so." Placing the note back in the flowers, you smelled them, your eyes fluttering closed for a moment.

Whether or not it was from the client, or someone else, the thought was kind. Though the message would linger on your mind all day.

Harry watched as you took the flowers to the kitchen, saying you were going to put them in some water. He forced his smile to stay hidden as his own heart pounded in his chest. At least you seemed to like them.

He hoped you would like the others as well.

The next day as you sat at the bar once again, talking with Sophie about the most current con, you jumped slightly when Breanna burst into the rom.

"Guess who got more flowers?" She said in a sing-song voice.

Looking over you saw a bundle of yellow flowers wrapped in brown paper. Your heart jolted in your chest as she brought them over to you.

"More?" You said with a soft breath as you looked down at the fully bloomed branches of yellow jasmines.

Gently touching the flowers, you saw another note dangling from one of the branches. Grabbing the note, your heart was pounding heavily in your chest. Would the note say who they were from this time?

"Look's like someones got a secret admirer." Breanna said with a suggestive raise of her eyebrows.

"Or a stalker." Eliot added as he crossed his arms.

Harry sat up a bit straighter at this "No" he laughed awkwardly "Surely they're just...thank you's or- or something."

Sophie, Eliot and Breanna looked over at Harry with a curious stare. He raised his brows in an attempt to appear innocent before glancing over at you.

He could immediately tell you were too preoccupied with the note to have heard anything they said.

'Yellow Jasmine: Affection, Joy, Friendship.'

Still no name, and the meaning was not as abrupt, but the message still made your heart radiate warmth. Though there was a sense of concern lingering beneath it. It all depending on who they were from in the end.

Sophie moved her gaze from the suspiciously acting Harry, to you. "Any name this time?"

You tore your eyes away from the note and looked up at her, shaking your head.

She hummed before looking over at Harry who looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

Smiling softly she turned around "Well, as curious as this all is, that's enough of that for now, we've got a con to do."

Harry let out a relieved breath as everyone's attention turned away from him. His eyes fell on you as you gently an your fingers over the flowers.

He smiled softly as he watched you for a moment. Tomorrow, he would tell you. Tomorrow he would know for sure if his feelings are returned.

Making your way into the building with an arm full of groceries, you immedietely noticed the lack of voices or noise coming from within the building. You looked around you, seeing no one. Frowning, you wondered where they all went.

As you looked through one of the bags, you took out the boxes of chocolates you got everyone lingering on the one you got for Harry. You wish you had the courage to tell him how you felt, but you didnt.

Looking over at the table your eyes landed on the jasmine flowers you put into a vase. You wish you had the confidence to do something like that.

Your mysterious secret admirer had yet to make a real move and part of you was relieved. You hated turning people down.

Looking back at the box of chocolates, you let out a soft sigh. If they were from Harry though...

As you heard the door open and close your eyes rose, to see Harry standing in the doorway. Partially hidden by the staircase.

"Hey Harry." You smiled.

"Hey." He greeted in response.

"Where'd everyone go?" You asked as you took some more groceries out of the bags.

"Uhm, out, I guess. They'll be gone for a while."

You frowned slightly, knowing that to be odd, as everyone should have been here by now. As you turned back to Harry, you saw a bouquet of red tulips in his hands. You paused in your step as your heart seemed to do a flip in your chest.

Harry looked down to the flowers and then back to you "Oh, yeah. These are for you."

"More flowers?" You asked softly with a mild tone of bewilderment.

Taking the flowers from him, you were aware his eyes were locked on you. Seeing yet another note, you gabbed it and opened it. Expecting to see another typed out note from an anonymous person.

But instead, the note was written in pen, in familiar hand writing.

'Red Tulips: Declaration of feelings; love.'

Your eyes slowly rose to meet Harry's and he was clearly nervous, as his brow raised slightly.

"This is your handwriting Harry." You said softly, your tone conveying your surprise and confusion.

He nodded slightly, as a ghost of a smile played on his face "Yes it is."

"The other flowers were...from you?"

He nodded again as he placed his hands behind his back "They were."

Your face was frozen in surprise for a moment and you saw Harry's trepidation. But slowly a smile stretched across your face.

You shrugged your shoulder lightly. "All I got you was some chocolates."

"I like chocolates." He said with a soft chuckle.

Your smile grew as you looked at the tulips. "They're beautiful Harry. They all are. But...why this way?"

He smiled and shrugged his head, knowing you were asking why he would confess how he felt like this.

"I was feeling...brave, and slightly romantic given the fact that Valentines Day is right around the corner, so, you know, I went with it."

"Well it's definitely the most creative confession I've received."

"You get a lot?" He asked playfully and you chuckled. He cleared his throat before he spoke again "So, you've received the confession, and now, you return the sentiment, I hope?" He asked softly.

Turning away, you grabbed the box of chocolates from the table before scribbling on it with a nearby pen.

Walking back over to Harry, you handed it to him.

Harry read it with a soft chuckle.

'Chocolates: For returned feelings'

Looking back up to meet your eyes you smiled at each other softly for a moment before he motioned his head towards the exit.

"Wanna go get some dinner?"

You smiled and nodded your head "I'd love to"

The Shifted Duology by Vexuswritesfanfic (Mature, Incomplete)

DISCLAIMER: this fic is four years old. I wrote it when I was an edgy teen and as such the writing, while good for my age at the time, may not be up to my current standards. In an AU where Toby Fox, instead of making a game, discovered a multiverse, unethical experiments are going on behind the scenes. Proposed as an alternative to disrupting timelines, the late Dr. Kelvin Turner and his successor Zagane Birsha painfully transform humans into the most powerful monsters in each timeline - among others - using a combination of magic extracted from the fossils of monsters in their own world and the MPM (Magic Particle Makeup; the monster equivalent of DNA) of whomever they will become. Meanwhile, the multiverse is accepted as a part of everyday life. The monsters are treated as celebrities, albeit celebrities only known from records of other timelines. Some even have crushes on them, which can be important leverage in forcing transformation subjects to accept their fate. Five individuals are destined to stop this madness, but the journey will be far from easy... and they will not come out the same as they once were.

The Hanahakiverse is a complex web of dimensions, each home to different Sans AUs. The multiverse is interconnected, with pathways linking various AUs, allowing for travel and interaction. However, this interconnectedness also means that emotional and spiritual ailments can cross over between worlds, leading to the spread of the Hanahaki disease.

Master of Puppets by necropolischan (Not Rated, Incomplete)

"Maker of Puppets" is a twisted and eerie multiverse AU centered around Sans, specifically the character of Error Sans, who has undergone a drastic transformation following a cataclysmic event known as the "Great Collapse." In this AU, Error Sans, now referred to as Puppeteer, is the last remaining entity in a broken and desolate multiverse. In his solitude and grief, Puppeteer has resorted to creating life-sized puppets of those he once knew, crafting an entire world populated by these lifeless figures. Half-delusional, Puppeteer treats his creations as if they were real, giving them strange and unsettling nicknames that reflect his fractured mind.

everything I’ve ever let go of has claw marks on it (nancymarjan, a nancy character study that I’m really proud of that is in no small part inspired by my own experience as a lonely kid) — if you’re not a nancymarjan shipper, this would be the 911ls fic of mine that I’d recommend! not because it’s not full of nancymarjan, it is, but because I’m very proud of the breadth it gives nancy as a character.

now I’ve read all of the books beside your bed (donnajoey, an established relationship fic that fits into canon and includes their first I love you’s) — I first read donnajoey as a part of @cauldronoflove’s west wing series and then read all like. Half a dozen fics that exist in the tag afterward. I became really touched by this as a ship and am really glad I figured out a fic to write for them. I especially loved getting a chance to stretch my wings writing a mix of speaking and asl in this one.

give the sorrow words (kind of maggiesophie, primarily a maggie & sophie & grief character study) — maggie collins the woman that you are. I really wanted to write a fic that looked at what role maggie played in sophie’s mourning with nate’s death between leverage og and leverage: redemption. much like my nancy character study, I’m really proud of the love that went into this and the character it provides a slightly minor character.

only / the sun has come this close, only the sun (kacy spiderman au, part five. hurt/comfort and their first kiss in the series) — okay, I thought long and hard about which of the spiderlucy au to include here, because it’s a series I’m really proud of and one that I think is a lot of fun. I ultimately went with the fifth installment because it involves their first kiss and I think it’s so achingly sweet and sad all at once. it’s also the fic that prompted fanart from @magicalstripedhorse which is so huge for me. baby’s first fic fanart!

until what I love misses me, and calls me in. (ronance nye, @pacinglikeghosts head canon for nancy’s birthday, an engagement!) — I have a lot a lot a lot of ronance fics (at writing, they’re my most written for ship on ao3!), but I think this one, post-canon and a look at the party and ronance domesticated, is really good. you’re gonna notice a pattern here and it’s that my favorite pieces are the ones that are the sweetest, for one reason or another, and this definitely fits in that camp.

Short stories, novels, or poems?

I read and write all three! Short stories are what I mostly dabble in (and finish), though.

What genre do you prefer reading?

Romance, mostly, because of fanfics. For novels, I read more murder mystery and horror than anything. Oh, and classics. I take recs!!

What genre do you prefer writing?

Romance, mostly. All of my stories and novel ideas focus on queer romance, and occasionally they'll be set in a universe that is considered fantasy or magical realism.

Are you a planner or write-as-I-go kind of person?

I don't think I've ever outlined a story before (which might explain why none of my novels are finished...) I definitely write as I go.

What music do you listen to when writing?

I don't really listen to music while I write. Though, songs often inspire my writing. Artists like Taylor Swift and Conan Gray—pining songs, mainly. I take recs on songs, too!

Fave books/movies?

My favorite movie is Inside Man starring Denzel Washington (I love him). I'm not a huge movie watcher; I mostly binge shows. Some of my favorites are Murdoch Mysteries, IASIP, White Collar, MacGyver, Leverage, and Leverage Redemption. Some of my fav books are Magpie Murders, Tender is the Night, The Great Gatsby, Under the Whispering Door, You & Me, Everything for You, etc.

Any current WIPs?

If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?

Probably some jeans, a hoodie, and some converse. And all of my jewelry and accessories.

Do you like incorporating actual people you know into your writing?

I'm sure I am subconsciously, but I've only purposely based a character off of someone I've know irl once. And they don't know and never will know.

Are you kill-happy with your characters?

My characters tend to stay alive once they're introduced into a story. Except this one guy, but he was built different, so.

Coffee or tea while writing?

Both! I love either. I prefer hot for both.

Slow or fast writer?

It depends on what I'm writing. Right now, it's reaaaaaally slow.

Where/who/what do you draw inspiration from?

Anything, really. Music a lot. Others' writing. Shows. Real life situations. Once, I wrote a story based off of a dream I had. A lot of the time, I just get hit with random ideas.

If you were put in a fantasy world, what would you be?

I'd be the librarian that runs the library where the MCs come in to get information from the ancient texts. I'd give them a hard time for no reason >:)

Most fav book cliche?

These are more tropes, but: Friends/enemies/rivals/roommates/teammates to lovers, slowburn, pining (esp mutual), Didn't Know They Were Dating, single parent, polyamory (a couple slowly adopts a third), etc.

Least fav book cliche?

Arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, one bed, rule 63 (for fics), meet cutes, established relationship, second chance/getting back together/breaking up and making up, etc.

Fave scene to write?

Anything with romantic/sexual tension! I love the prolonged eye contact, subtle touches, unspoken words, and awkward silence!

Most productive time of day for writing?

At night while I'm laying in my bed trying to go to sleep. In the bathtub. On the bus in the mornings. And anytime I can't physically write and save my ideas!

Reason for writing?

If I don't, the ideas will take over my brain and become my personality, and we can't have that.

Yes. i know i'm so behind. But last year work was such that i fell behind on everything and i've spent this whole year so far catching up. i have managed to binge Stranger Things S3 AND S4 (do you see how far behind i was?), Obi Wan, Book of Boba Fett, Mandalorian S3, and The Last of Us, as well as make a small dent in the back catalogue in the shape of Leverage, Leverage Redemption, Dopesick, and The Librarians. All since December. So do not come at me with my tardiness. i'm doing my best. 😘

last movie: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3

i have gone to see every single MCU movie since Iron Man on opening night and despite the MCU's descent into madness and disappointment i can't stop now, you feel me. Having said that i think that Guardians was a good movie, not least because it was refreshingly self contained. i loved the fact that for a change the entire Fate Of The Universe And Everyone In It did not hang in the balance. As Angela says in Bones, "Sometimes you don't save the world. Sometimes you just make your friend happy." EXACTLY.

Also, James Gunn listened to the exact same albums as a teenager as i did, i will die on that hill. Obscure 80s British post punk anyone? Late 70s Springsteen? Parliament, Cheap Trick, Spacehog, Faith No More, Three Dog Night, fucking X? The fact that Gunn plastered a The The song across one of the emotional turning points of this movie - i almost stood up and clapped. IN THE MOVIE THEATER. (i would never. i am the person who will ask you to stop talking if you sit next to me and don't shut up. And i will be firm about it.)

If Star-Lord ever returns to the tunes of New Model Army or Mother Love Bone, i will die.

currently watching: Justified and The Umbrella Academy S3.

Still trying to make a dent in the current and back-catalogue watchlist. Do not say the word Witcher in my presence. 😂 Or Ted Lasso, which i will binge the moment the last ep drops, no matter what series i'm in the middle of. Also, now i had to put @booksandabeer's rec Transatlantic on the list WHAT HAVE YOU DONE.

currently reading: DOES IT LOOK LIKE i HAVE TIME TO READ RIGHT NOW? i BARELY HAVE TIME TO WRITE. 😂 But actually, if audiobooks count, i'm listening to An Economic History of The World since 1400 (from The Great Courses), because macroeconomics are fucking fascinating, ok? i think macroeconomic trends, constraints, and ambitions are the only reason human beings as a whole have ever done anything, ever, (and by macroeconomics i don't mean money).

All this while a stack of books collects dust on my night stand.

current obsession: the aforementioned macroeconomics, stucky (there's the historical event AND a cold war east germany spy fic to write, i'm looking at you @bittersweet-in-boston). There is also an epic dramione idea i had last year which is starting to seriously snap at my heels. i might have to visit that sandbox again. (Forgive me @mysteriouscatstellation)

Also, how do i get rid of the need to sleep? Those are hours i could use, people. Anyone have tips?

tonight's fic rec is the war outside our door keeps raging on by spinninginfinity! eliot and breanna in the beginning of redemption -- breanna finds out about the ot3, and eliot explains a few things.

‘You do anything really well, there’re gonna be people interested in getting you to do more of it,’ he says, tilting the pan to redistribute the egg. ‘Only I stopped, and a lotta people didn’t get the memo. Or… they did, but a lot of ’em figure everyone’s got a price, and they just gotta find mine, right?’

‘Okay,’ she says slowly. ‘I get that. But what’s that got to do with—’

‘’Cause I do have a price,’ Eliot says, voice very soft, setting down this truth between them as gently as he’s able. ‘And it’s upstairs, in bed, cutting it pretty close for a flight that leaves in less than six hours.’

After Parker, Hardison, and Eliot worked on their own for a few years, they came up with a bunch of mostly unspoken rules for living and working and being together. Rules like don’t bring home stray cats because Hardison is allergic and gets sad because he likes cats; don’t bother Parker if she’s up in the vents for extended periods of time; and always leave at least a week between jobs - or more if Eliot gets in a lot of fights.

That last rule came about after a job that left Eliot with a concussion so bad he couldn’t see straight.

do you have any favourite fics about Jewish characters? i’d love to hear your recs!!

Heya! Yeah I have a couple, although my fandoms in recent years haven't been overwhelmingly Jewish.

@deniigi has a really long series of fics called Into the Multiverse based sort of on the Spiderverse film, but it's very sprawling and you really need to read at least a few of the fics from their inimitable verse to understand what's going on in many of their fics. That said, there's one that mostly stands on its own called Parakeets, where Peter B Parker and Peter Parker (the blond one from Spiderverse) have a conversation that references they're Jewish. The fic is really about Jefferson trying to understand Miles' relationship with B better, but the Jewish moment is pretty significant to the fic.

If you're into Leverage, I have a minor Jewish!Hardison headcanon (especially in light of Leverage Redemption), and repairing the world is a fic that really explores that in detail.

I mentioned my Jewish!Crowley headcanon for Good Omens in the ask earlier today, but I don't think I've ever actually bookmarked any specific ones. Here's a Jewish!Good Omens fic collection from a discord server I used to be in, though.

There's also this nsfw spideytorch fic where Peter's Jewishness is revealed in a really funny way. His Jewishness doesn't matter to the plot at all but it is still very funny, and it's a good fic overall.

Finally, I'd like to rec a couple of my own fics. The first is a spideyBpool fic called I'm a mess (but I'm the mess that you wanted). It's really more about Peter overcoming his crippling self hatred and depression and the trauma of constantly being in contact with a living reminder of his greatest failure, but y'know, there's some Jewish content in there too, and we're only one chapter away from the happy (poly!) ending.

Also, just last night I posted a fic for the S & D Tier fandom - it's a TikTok improv comedy series, don't worry if you haven't heard of it, but it's pretty cute. The most recent arc made me want to write something short about the two of them getting married very Jewishly, and thus was born Doing It Right.

Okay to preface this - 1) most of my playlists are made for a specific fic I'm writing, 2) I am literally in love with almost every playlist I make so this was hard to narrow down, 3) most of them are sad ok?? I like sad music so be warned XD

Slings and Arrows - another Very Canadian show about the theatre. Absolutely hilarious. Essential as someone who grew up in a theatre town.

Leverage (and Redemption) - I just love them so much!

Jing: King of Bandits - one of the only animes that I would still watch these days. I fucking adore it so much. My fav anime (and manga) series of all time for sure.

Miami Vice - Yes, the 80s one. Don't @ me okay I love it even if it's terrible, I went through a huge Miami Vice stage in my teens/early 20s. (My dad and I used to watch it together, and then I stole all his seasons to take with me to University lol)

Parks and Rec - I haven't watched it in a while but it's still SUCH a funny show.

10) Something you’ve created in the last year that you’re proud of (a playlist, a piece of art, some writing, a craft hobby, a social media account, etc)

Oh this is a really lovely question! A few things spring to mind.

I have an art piece that I made this year that was actually acquisitioned by one of my very small local museums. It's a piece that I'm super proud of, and it feels really neat that it's in a museum now! On a related note, I also started an art account earlier this year, which was a really big step for me art-wise. It's been fun, even if I'm really bad at updating.

Honestly I'm also super proud of a bunch of my fanfics that I've written this year! It feels like a bit more of a haphazard writing year, and I've been having trouble writing consistent fics lately, but I'm still proud of it :)
