Crush [Zayne x f!reader]
warnings: jealous!reader, really bad writing ig
you're not a jealous person, well, most of the times.
you just watched with amusement as the new intern ogled your boyfriend right in front of you while he checked your medical files.
it wasn’t an uncommon occurrence, zayne usually turned a lot of heads wherever he went without even noticing. still, you couldn’t help but be amazed at how oblivious he was to the intern's huge fat crush on him. or maybe he wasn’t oblivious at all and simply chose not to care, you’d never know with him.
you and zayne had been dating for some time now, while you hadn’t publicly announced your relationship to the world, a few people close to both in your life already knew that you were together. but right now you wanted nothing more than to show this woman that he was taken. that he was yours.
“miss, your arm,” the resident called you in a sweet voice, pulling your attention away from zayne. she had just finished taking the vitals and had put on some gloves. she motioned toward your injured arm, making a gesture for you to lift it.
zayne was still looking at your records with his brows drawn together. oh how bad you wanted to smooth that line in between.
you looked down at your arm, it couldn’t even be called an injury, to be honest. just a shallow cut running down your elbow to your wrist.
“ah it’s fine, it doesn’t hurt anymore…” you were saying when the man beside you suddenly turned his head with an all-familiar gaze that sent shivers down your spine which made you quickly avert your gaze.
“even a small wound can lead to an infection if not treated properly,” he says, his voice firm, “let her do her job.”
oh he was upset.
you raised your hand so she could treat your wound. her hands were cold to the touch and had a tighter grip on your uninjured skin as she began to clean the cut with antiseptic.
you sighed quietly when another intern came in, calling zayne over to check on your other colleagues injured on the mission. he spared you a glance, eyes softening before leaving.
you usually had a high pain tolerance, but you couldn’t help wincing when the resident wiped too hard with the antiseptic.
you cleared your throat slightly, “could you—um, maybe be a little gentler.”
“oh!” her eyes widened in embarrassment as she loosened her iron grip on your arm. she chuckled nervously, “sorry, i am a little nervous around blood.”
you blinked, what the fuck?
before you could say anything, she had already applied the ointment and was hurriedly wrapping a bandage around your arm. you could only watch helplessly as the bandage ended up crooked and uneven.
the curtain covering your bed suddenly opened and zayne stepped inside. his eyes narrowed at the lousy bandage on your arm.
“what is this?” you wanted to laugh at the way he asked the question.
The girl in front of you flamed red and coughed lightly before speaking.
“sorry dr. zayne…”
she says as zayne steps closer to you, “wait i’ll do it again.”
your eyes widens and you quickly looks at zayne pleadingly, shaking your head slightly.
zayne sigh heavily and gently takes your arm in his, “no need— just go help dr. greyson with the others,” he doesn't seem to be good at lecturing students too much.
you watch the girl leave in silence, but your focus is quickly pulled back by the cold touch of the surgical gloves brushing against your arm.
“i think she has a crush on you,” you grinned and said.
zayne glanced at you with a calm face, “unfortunate choice, i’m taken.”
you hum, satisfied with the answer you received. he doesn’t say a lot but unwraps the bandage wrapped around your arm and puts it aside. he is silent as he cleans the wound with precise practice, then picks up a new piece of gauze bandage and wraps it around your arm a few times before carefully tying a firm knot with his hands.
it wasn’t rare for you to see him working like this, but no matter how many times you see it, it will never be enough. his hands, even calloused and marked with scars, were far too gentle when touching you. you observe the way his lashes brush his skin, and the way his hair falls on his forehead with amazement.
“you have really long eyelashes” you blurt out and smiles when you see the tips of his ears reddening as he looks up. zayne had never been good at responding to your compliments, so he coughs and looks away.
“I see you still have the energy to talk nonsense.” he says, turning to leave.
“ah wait, it really hurts,” you suddenly cries out, squeezing your eyes shut and grabbed his hand, stopping him on his tracks.
he is in front of you in a flash, hands grabbing at your sides, “where?” his voice is filled with concern and you almost feel bad.
“here,” you speaks lowly and guides his hand towards your chest. zayne’s eyes narrows, already seeing where this is going.
“you—”
you shuffle closer to the end of the bed, looking pitiful as you speak, “this is so sad, i think only a kiss can make it better.”
“is that so?”
“yeah, on the lips,” you nodded seriously.
zayne smile tug at the corner of his lips, “but i don’t think you deserve a kiss.”
you pull at his arm, bringing him closer, “please?”
he looks at you helplessly, not having the ability to deny you.
his hand caresses the soft skin of your cheek, titling your face upwards before wrapping his lips around yours. it’s a slow kiss, sensual but not very long because he soon pulls away, but you’re faster. you grab his white lab coat and bring his face back to yours, he stumbles forward, making you lean back on the bed and steadies himself by placing his hand on the bed. his other hand pinches your waist gently.
you smile into the kiss, feeling your heartbeat rise with how close his body is to yours. zayne’s hand wanders up body, cupping your jaw and deepening the kiss when suddenly the curtain is pulled apart.
you pulls away from zayne while he closes his eyes to regain his composure. he takes a deep breath before straightening himself up and turning around.
The intern who treated your wound stood speechless for a moment, her eyes wide and red faced before squeaking out an apology and quickly running out of the room.
maybe you are a jealous person after all.

Tony having a list of habits of the avengers that annoy him yet also altering the entirety of the compound to meet those habits.
Tony: You realize how annoying it is to have you in my vents?? Just let me breathe my 5 million dollar air in peace
Also Tony installing a proper scanner which doesn't ring any alarms if Barton is in the vents but instead just makes in a video compilation of each time he falls.
Tony: Thor I swear to the Gods. If you take one more Pop tart from me I wil-
Also Tony bulge buying Pop tarts for every time Thor visits.
Tony: Cap how do you not kn- No being frozen for 80 years is no excuse. This is vital part of history, No I don't care that it's "just a show" this changed lives
Also Tony installing a "Cap is confused again" Protocol on FRIDAY for each time there's anything Steve doesn't understand which might be basic knowledge to everyone else so FRIDAY can give him a summary of it all.
Tony: Nat you need to stop hiding weapons everywhere. I can't be going around finding machetes in the compound!
Also Tony providing her as much space she needs for her weapons in each room if that's what she needs to feel safe.
Tony: No! No magic. Wanda you go through my head again and I swear you'll regret it. My therapist quit, you think you can handle it? Nuh uh this is a magic free household young lady.
Also Tony installing a whole new simulation based training room so she can practice her magic properly.
Tony: Bucky, I know I'm rich but can you please stop crushing my equipment and cups
Also Tony very gently talking to Bucky about everything he is doing step by step as he checks up Bucky's arm. Giving him his own room with open windows so he doesn't feel trapped with every bit of little hobby he might pick up from knitting to painting to playing the piano. A bookshelf with the entire limited edition of The Hobbit and every 40s music he might like. And some more recent songs in case he decides to "stop being old".
Tony: Strange I need you to stop doing that shit. I understand you're a wizard but don't they have rules for that? Like no magic outside of Hogwarts until you're 17? None of that weird stuff in the tower... ever.
Also Tony creating a special meditating room for Stephen with Pink Floyd playing where he can just calm down for a while in the tower and somehow a room in the mirror dimension when he really wants peace and quiet.
Tony: Vision I know you're an AI who is very interested in human nature and I am flattered but I swear if I hear one more explosion because you tried to learn knitting or the piano I will find an off switch whether or not you have one.
Also Tony making every single hobby Vision wants to pick up possible in the best way. Providing him his own kitchen to getting him a piano teacher because he wanted to experience "learning by being taught"
Tony: Banner I get that you have everything under control which is great but my lab is not big enough for The Hulk
Also Tony making his lab big enough. Getting him his own lab. Making sure he had everything he needed to calm down when he couldn't control the Hulk. Labeling him as the "strongest avenger". Getting him a therapist. Making sure he never feels alone yet always has peace
Tony: Rhodey you need to understand that when I say I'm fine I'm fine. You act like such a party pooper you know that?
Also Tony who trusts Rhodey with his life and everything. Making sure Rhodey never feels lesser than. Who couldn't be more grateful that Rhodey stuck by him throughout everything and always stayed. Tony always turning to him for advice and no matter how much he acts like Rhodey is being a bummer always takes his words to heart.
Tony: Peter.... Don't walk on the ceiling! Oh my God don't die! What the hell kid please don't explode your homework again! Your aunt is going to KILL me! You mess with the suit again and I- No , you can't borrow my suit what do you mean? I told you to stay back, tell me what you interpreted that as? No the adults are talking.
Also Tony doing everything that kid wants no matter what. Making sure his suit is so safe that he might as well be immortal. Buying him everything he even remotely suggests to liking. He has his own room in the tower cause of all the time he spends in the labs.
"You want to test out this new thing with your webs but it requires this extremely expensive and toxic chemical? As long as you wear proper protection!"
"you said you had to write about a famous place you went to but since you haven't travelled much you were gonna write about the Stark exhibition or times square.....So I got you these world tour tickets. I think they hit every landmark , just message me the ones they don't and I'll handle it. And don't worry there are two so your aunt can go with you"

Bombshell reader is my queen. What would happen if she like got hold hostage or something? She’s usually so confident, I’m sure going thru that would rough her up. Would Spencer take up the more ‘active’ role and take care of her
tysm for requesting ♡ fem, 1k
Spencer doesn't know if you're aiming for him when you come out but he grabs you as soon as he can get his hands on you. You were running hard enough to wind him, breathless yourself as you gasp into his shoulder. He can't feel you right wearing the FBI vest, desperate to take it off.
You won't let him go.
It must've been bad inside to panic you like this. "Are you okay?" he asks, forcing you away to check you over. "Do you need medical?" He's mildly hysterical.
"No," you say, eyes closed, shaking your head until he lets you back into his arms. "I'm fine."
"You don't sound fine–"
"Spencer, I'm fine."
Spencer can't remember the last time you called him Spencer. He's used to Spence, babe, baby, handsome. He's even used to your hand on his elbow to say hello without speaking. So no matter what you say, he knows you're not fine.
Spencer leads you over to the back of an ambulance, where you glare at him. You've definitely never done that before.
"I don't need medical–"
"You have to get checked out." He's definitely never spoken to you like that. Terse, his hands on your arms to stop you from getting up. "Non-negotiable."
Your eyes shine with betrayal while the EMTs check your vitals. You have a bruise like whiplash against your neck that's tender to the touch, wincing as they prod it with their white gloved fingers. You're acting peculiarly but not outside of the realm of reasonable.
A car backfires somewhere in the street and you flinch. "Spence," you say, looking up at him through your lashes, "can we go?"
He waits for a nod. "Yeah, we can go."
The issue is that you can't stand. You push up, you blink, and you sit down hard again, making a small pained sound from the back of your throat that Spencer cant abide by. "What's wrong with her?" he asks.
"Adrenaline." The EMT squeezes your shoulder affectionately. "You're alright, hun. You can sit here until you feel ready."
She and her partner take a break in the front of the ambulance and tell you to shout if you need help. Spencer hesitates for a few seconds, looking down at you with a quick assessment of behaviour. He finds the things that are wrong with you —shaking hands, painful contusion against your throat, obvious emotional distress, weak legs— and he runs through options on how he's going to help you.
Spencer takes your hands into his, just a little smaller, less skinny, and way softer. He doesn't know whether he can truly smell your hand cream or if he knows the scent from the hundreds of times watching your routine. You take it from the pocket in your purse, squeeze the smallest bit from the tub, and rub it in slow circles around your palms. It calms you in your rare wounded moments, and Spencer imitates that now. He draws gentle circles into your skin, the tremble ever so slightly quelled.
"Is it bad?" he asks you, transferring both of your hands into one. Freed, he trails the knuckles of his left hand parallel to your wicked bruise.
"It hurts." Your eyes are glassy, your lips in a downturn that turns his heart. "Hurt my ego."
"He got a cheap shot," Spencer says sympathetically, dipping forward to kiss your jaw just above the bruise. You go still. He worries it was the wrong thing to do, but you crane your head forward into his chest.
Your tired sigh is like a rake.
"It's okay. It's okay." He takes your hand again. "We'll ice it at the hotel. With arnica, it'll be gone in a week."
"I was really scared," you murmur.
Sitting as you are in the back of the ambulance, he doesn't have to bend much to press your joined hands to his chest. Eyes shut, that close to one another, Spencer swears he can hear your rapid heart.
"But you made it out. You're always going to make it out, because we have a great team and you're good at what you do. You're strong. Smart. And you're brave, because you got scared and you kept going anyway. You saved someone just now."
You push him away without malice, your perfect eyebrows pinched up at the starts. "I thought maybe this time I wouldn't make it out. Not like me, huh?"
Spencer sits next to you in the ambulance, sliding his fingers into yours with more confidence than he feels. "That's easily explainable. Do you know what working memory is?"
Your stress melds fond. "No."
"Working memory is one of the brain's systems necessary for thought and function. It's important for everything. And when you're under immense pressure, the strength of your working memory depletes– being in a high stakes situation like that, it's natural to choke. It doesn't mean you underperformed. It doesn't mean you let anyone down."
"I never said I let someone down."
"I worried you were thinking about it."
"I was." Your glassy eyes have clarified. Spencer lets out a breath of relief as you raise your hand to his cheek, stroking it briefly with the back of your fingers. "I'm glad you think that, but I doubt Hotch will say the same thing."
"Hotch will tell you well done and make you take mandatory leave for a week. We should regroup with the others." Spencer nudges you in the arm. "I'll write your paperwork if you tell me what to say."
You drop your face into his shoulder. "I'm recovering from a traumatic event. Can't you do the muscle work?"
"Y/N!" Hotch calls, a phone glued to his ear. "Well done. Nothing else tonight." You smile. "You can do the paperwork when you get back next week."
"Ugh."
"Told you. Well done, mandatory leave," Spencer says.
"Excessive," you mutter into his arm. It takes you a few seconds to warm up, and when you do it's like groundhog day, sunshine filtering through the chill, "Thanks, handsome. For everything."

We meet again | In-ho x Fem!Reader | Ending

P1 P2 P3 P4

This can be really OOC - Would add more things but I would Spoil the ending -
You had no idea where you were at first. A light, then a flash of a person, multiple voices talking all at the same time. And the repeated sound of a machine.
A hospital? That was your first idea.
But what about the island ? The games ? Was all a nightmare your mind had conjured ? And what about your baby ?
Panic went throw your body, muscles screaming from your sudden move. You felt something in your nose, oxygen ? And your arms full of differents vials.
Soon a lot of nurses and a doctor came into the room. Trying to calm you down. Trying to settle you down and prevent you from ripping off the different medicines they were giving you.
But you did not respond. A sudden move made you hit someone, you had no idea who that person was.
Next thing you knew dark was once again taking over you.
The second time you woke up was different. Somehow your body felt lighter, like something was missing.
Wait.
Why was there a big pain in your stomach? Why did you feel less heavy ?
With trembling hands you moved the small hospital blanket and saw with horror a big scar on your belly.
The scream you left alerted the medical staff once again.
"Miss miss!! Please calm down, breath" A nurse said besides you
"My baby...you took my baby!! You screamed at her tears falling down your face. "Where is it? What did you do!!" The desesperation in your voice was clear, raw emotions filled you as you took a look around the white room.
"Miss listen please. You have been asleep for three weeks, your baby its fine I promise" The nurse said taking your hand "We had to remove it...your baby its a premature one but its fine"
"I want to see it, please"
The nurse gave a small nod signaling another nurse to go and find your baby.
"Take deep breaths, the doctor will come to check on how you are doing"
"I just want my baby, please I just want to see if its-"
The nurse returned a white blanket around a small body. Your body felt light like all was a dream. As she approached you and let you take a look. Your baby, sleeping without a care in the world.
"You can hold him Dear"
Him, it was a boy. A beautiful boy.
Carefully she passed the baby to you, you took it looking at him with so much love and care. You could not believe how something so fragile and cute could be here right now.
"Hello Little One...im your mom. Im sorry I was not here when you arrived"
The baby opened his eyes revealing deep dark ones, it did not scream at first reaching to touch your face with his small hand.
"Babys knows their mother" The nurse said smiling as she saw how you rocked the small kid a tiny smile on your tired face, and a few tears in your eyes.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~
Turns out someone from the staff found you outside unconscious and they took you into emergency care fast. Your vital signs were stable but they were still worry over your baby and the low amount of iron you had.
The first week you were in intensive care, the doctors and nurses checking you every hour, making sure you were progressing for good and so was your baby.
However, things got complicated and they had to proceed with a emergency cesarean when some tests came out wrong. You and your baby were in vital danger and that was the only option.
Your baby was born premature, being 2.5 kg low birth weight, it was took to special care since you were still unconscious and recovering from the surgery.
Luckly your baby started to gain weight as soon as they started to feed him with special formulas, it soon got good color and all his still under developing organs were alright.
It was safe to say that by the time you woke up your baby was healthier than you. Did you care ? Of course not, you would give your life for him.
Breast feeding him was easier than what you did initially thought. And everybody was happy that your baby was so eager to be natural feed. It was important for mother-baby bond.
Days went on, the Hospital where you were was close to the coast town you once lived. You were confused and wondered how you had ended up there. Last thing you did remember was eating food under the watchful eye of a guard then nothing.
You were suprised by the visit of your Friends from town, someone from the hospital had contacted them since you had no parents alive and your brother was not responding.
Even the bar owner from where you met In-ho came by, to scold you like a old father. How could you ran away ? They were a small yet powerfull town and they protected their people.
During these days lots of things happened.
You discovered that your debt was all paid, your brother was found in another country and was now paying for what he had done. You were not interested in the details of that.
Your original house, the one from the town was still under your name and clean as if someone had been keeping check on it. But no one knew a thing.
Once you were free from the hospital and at home with your baby you discovered another thing.
When going out to buy groceries and baby food, you checked your account only to see so many zeros...hell you almost fainted there.
But you did not win, then why ? Was this their way of compensation ? You were repulsed by it and for months did not touch the money till it became impossible to keep going without doing it. You could not work yet and the others insisted on you resting.
Life was once again slow...like all of what had happened was a nightmare. Something you had made.
Did you go to the police? No. You could only imagine what they would think if you ever decided to talk, and you wanted to keep your baby safe.
Oh your dear son...it had his father's eyes and your hair. A perfect and beautiful mix. You would cry at night thinking on him. In-ho....who could not met his son, and your son that would grow up without a father.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
Jun-ho stood besides In-ho part of him wanting nothing but to kill his own brother and other to...well he was still deciding on the first one.
"You shot me! Without a dam care" Jun-ho said to his older brother who just moved his gloved hand like it was nothing.
"You left me no choice, it was to keep you safe..."
"Thanks to you I lost my job because no one would fucking believe me"
"And you blame them?" In-ho asked "You are still a naive kid, but you are my family and my blood..."
"Why let Seong Gi-hun live? Why me ? You killed the others, the team..."
"Because, there is a small balance I have to keep" In-ho said voice cold and eyes sharp "I cant stop this. Its a never ending circle, its not up to me or you. Or anyone, it goes far beyond that"
"I still dont understand...what makes you think I wont-"
"I have a favor to ask you" In-ho cut his younger brother off, who gave back an incredulous look.
"Really? After everything, you have the face to ask me for a favor?"
"You have a nephew" In-ho started pulling out the pic of a woman and a small kid, a few months old. "I met her once, then here again" He smiled saddly at the memory "Such a cruel fate...but I loved her, and him.." His finger passed over the photo.
"...You must be kidding me" Jun-ho said letting himself fall besides him in the dark couch "You- Do you realize how fucked up this is ? And what ? What do you want me to do ?"
"Check them for me. She does not have a family, and im dead to her-"
"Oh so you lied" Typical of him.
"Yes, it was for the best. Thats why im asking you to check on them. To be there for them. I dont care if you hate me but they, they deserve a family and I cant give them that"
Jun-ho pressed his lips seeing his older brother show a vulnerable side that was so...odd. So strange to see.
"Let me see them" Jun-ho asked looking at the pic, well various pics. You were smiling in most and the little baby looked healthy. He could not help but feel a jump at his heart, this kid was his nephew....even if his brother was far from perfect...He was right. Not you or the kid had the fault. And if he was the only family you two could get then he would do it.
"Fine, but im not doing it for you but them" Jun-ho accepted giving the pics back.
In-ho nodded taking a black envelope and passing it to him.
"What is this?" Jun-ho asked taking a peak inside.
"Your new name for when you met them, I never told her my real name. And some background so you dont go there without a reason. It would be too strange and last thing I want its to scare her"
Jun-ho took a deep breath opening the envelope getting ready to read and memorize his new identity.
Things you do for family.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~
One year passed. Your life was back to normal. Your dear son grow up everyday, triying to give him everytning you could and be the best mom.
Reading different books and being helped by the older woman from town was like heaven. You could carry your life on your own.
Your Friends loved your son, the amount of gifts he would get each time they visited...you had to tell them to stop it.
There was the money too. While you could live your life without having to work you decided you wanted to do something with it. And after long talks and hours you finally decided what to do.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~
One morning you were just there, the TV on with a kids program as you studied some pappers. A knock at your door took you by suprise.
Slowly you got up and went there, still unsure but the person behind the door knocked again this time faster.
Jun-ho stood outside your door. Anxiety and fear on him. He had read your file and his background multiple times. But the idea of finally meeting you and his nephew....scared him a lot.
He knew he was not his older brother...knew he would not fill a place he had left. But he also wanted to be there for you and his newphew, after seeing how much you loved the kid...
The door opened and a heavy silence fell between both of you.
Jun-ho saw it all, the suprise on your face and the look of small recognition over him. Even if him and his brother were not twins they did share genetics and by what he had read about you, you were not stupid, he was sure you were putting together the pieces by now.
"Hello" He paused not sure how to continue, even if he had prepared himself for this moment for so long.
"Hello...may I know who you are ?" You asked already blocking the door. Your eyes went over his face, taking the small details as your brain slowly connected him with In-ho.
Could it be ?
"Im Oh Jun-ho...In-ho's younger brother" He said the fake name with centrain disgust but hide it behind a smile.
"Younger brother ? He...he never said he had a younger brother..."
Of course not. He shot me that fucker-
"He is-was" he corrected himself "he was a reserved man", He went missing some time ago, the leads I followed made me come here. And some people said they saw you with him one night...
Well that was a lie. He knew that because thats whats he was suppose to say to you.
"Are you...still looking for him?" You asked your voice barely a whisper. Jun-ho could see your shoulder tremble, he knew you thought his brother was long dead, and it broke him to have to lie to you.
If you could only see how much you are hurting her
"Yes, thats why im here. Can I come in? I promise it wont take long. You can ask someone to come if you are not comfortable with a stranger in your home" Jun-ho added knowing you most likely would be a bit admant on letting him in.
And you were. Ever since you came back and saw that account with so much money, you were always checking over your shoulder. A fresh set of alarms were installed at your house, and you made sure to double check everything.
It was safe to say you were ready to kill for your son. And even if this stranger had some resemblance with In-ho...
"Wait here" You told him closing the door and texting your friend who worked at the local coffee from town explaining everything
His responde came quick, telling you to bring the stranger there and that he would keep an eye on him and in your son.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
"Alright lets go" Jun-ho hear you said, he turned around his heart beating fast at the sight of his nephew and In-ho's son.
Genetics did not lie. It did look like him.
"Right....were to?" He asked trying not to eye his newphew too much to not make you suspect that he knew more than what he was telling you.
"There is a coffee shop near, we can talk there"
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~
Jun-ho knew when he was being watched. Years in the police and as a detective have sharpered his senses. Of course he knew the friendly barista was giving him the side eye since you two ordered a drink and took a seat on a table a bit away from the rest.
He also took note of the guy who came up with your drinks. A guy tall, taller than him and fairy muscular, he had give you a polite smile and almost a dead look towards him.
So far he did not feel very welcome. But it was fair. After all you were being lied and he was helping with that lie, so this was the smallest price he should pay.
If anything part of him should be greateful you had someone to look after you. He did read in your file about your parents death and the piece of trash your brother was.
Hell, he hoped he could be a better uncle than him.
"What did you want to talk about?" Your soft voice broke him from his thoughts
He blinked back and nodded, composing himself.
"As I said" He started slowly "Im In-ho's younger brother. He went missing a few months back...and I started to look for him"
Well months was a lie. Years by now.
"I used to be a detective in Seoul, I tried to find him and followed different leads but nothing would came out from it" He made a pause to take a sip from his coffee "Then I found out he was...hiding"
"Hiding?" You asked a bit scared.
So when we met he was hiding? Thats why he left so quickly?
"Yeah" Jun-ho felt his skin crawl back at the lies "I found out he was in debt and was going from city to towns. To avoid them. This was the last place he was seen..."
Jun-ho let the lie set on you. He could see your brain working, maybe trying to pull out dates and reasons too.
"Im sorry I was not faster" Jun-ho continued "I really wanted to find him, I wanted to bring him home..."
He saw you nod and a few tears forming on your eyes.
Jun-ho went to his pocket and pulled out a very old picture. A picture of a different time. When things were more simple.
"This is me and him" Jun-ho showed you "He was a fellow detective, I actually joyned the force becaue of him" Jun-ho said smiling at that time when he was inspired by In-ho.
You took the pic traseing on the younger features of In-ho, he looked happier, less tired and stressed than what you did remember from the games...
"And...you think he-"
The cries from your boy stopped you. You took him out from the stroller to try and shh him down. The little bundle of joy was just boring for what it seems. You checked the time and saw that his feed time was still for another hour.
"Sorry to ask but...that baby" Jun-ho started not really knowing how to proceed.
He saw you pull the baby closer to you, like you were trying to protect him from the world. Or maybe from him.
"I-" You took a deep breath calming yourself and your baby down. "Its true what you know. I did met your brother. We met one night at the local bar. The one near the docks. We passed the night together but he was gone when I woke up" The words died in your throat as you remember all the times in the game and the soft moment during Migle. When he was able to touch your belly and talk to his kid. "I discovered I was pregnant, but for personal reasons I left this town for some time"
Jun-ho did know. It was scary how much he knew but he faked that this was all new.
"My brother left a debt on me. I had to work in Seoul to pay it off. I was then able to return here. If In-ho was here during that time...I cant known. I was not here. Im sorry I cant help you more"
Like In-ho had told him, you would most likely not mention the games, the money you got, or the fact that you believed he was dead.
Jun-ho nodded and a few minutes of silence passed between both of you. Each one with their own thoguhts.
"I never got your name Miss.."
"Oh...its (Y/N)" You responded being too caught up to even think of that.
"And your son's name..."
"In-ho" Jun-ho felt his heart fell "I named him after his father"
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~
Even if the start of the conversation was tense and full of doubts on your side. The more you talked to Jun-ho the more relaxed you got. He showed you some more pics of him and In-ho and even shared some stories from when they were young.
It helped you to imagine how he was and how he could have been if he was outside with you and your son.
"I dont want to interrump in your life" Jun-ho had said as both walked together to your home "But I cant ignore the fact that I have a nephew...and if you let me I would love to be part of his life. I dont want to replace In-ho, I know I could never do it"
You looked at Jun-ho's eyes for any indication of a lie or ulterior motive. But found nothing, just a Man, a brother lost in the look for his older brother and now finding out that he was an uncle.
At the end your kid was an extension of In-ho, and you could not blame Jun-ho for wanting to be part of his life. If anything it was quiet cute and a noble wish.
"I...I dont mind if you are part of his life. Well our lives. I cant say im kind on going to Seoul but-"
"No, thats fine. I can work with what you are more comfortable" Jun-ho said remembering the strong emphasis his brother had made on pulling your needs first.
"Thanks, its a city that just brings back bad memories..."
Jun-ho nodded once more. He took out his phone and offered it to you.
"You can put your number..or I can give you mine. You dont have to save it just..."
"I will give you mine" You softly said pulling your contact information and giving it back. "Do you plan on staying more days at the town?"
Honestly? No. Jun-ho was already planning on leaving to rest in the next town and then go back to his brother.
But...a few more days could not hurt...
"Yes..I think I have a reason to stay for a few more days" He said smiling at the baby.
You smiled back then after giving it a long thought asked "Would you like to hold him?"
"Really?" Jun-ho asked being taken back so much he did take a step back and felt dumb for it.
"You are his uncle...I trust you will not let him fall" You said getting your kid who blinked at you giving a soft smile
"Never. I would never hurt him" Jun-ho said with maybe more force than needed.
When he felt the baby in his arms he felt so much. The little thing looked at him, curious on who this stranger was.
His little hands went to touch his shirt and Jun-ho could not help but smile. It did resemble the old baby pics his mother had of him and In-ho and in a way it felt wrong that he was holding his son before him.
But at the same time. He felt a deep connection, call it genetics, call it love, whatever it was Jun-ho did swear there that no harm would ever come to this kid. Or you, even if you deserved more than a lie. He would make sure you and your kid were safe.

4 Years Later
Laughted filled the kid's park as some ran playing tag and others pulled their friends in the hammocks.
Your son, now five years old was lost in a game of tag with other kids from his school. Part of his hair flew in the air under his hat as he smiled when he was tagged and went for another kid.
You watched it from a near bench. Your work being flexible in hours was a plus when it came down on passing time with him.
"Mom" His sweet voice called as he came running with a bit of sweat. The summer was soon coming and the heat was just staring.
"Yes In-ho?" You asked adjusting the hat on his head. After years you have been able to say the name without it hurting that much to the point of hold back tears.
"Yejun and the others wants to go to the near store to get ice cream, pelease mom can I go too?"
You knew he was begging to go alone with his friends. Even if you knew everybody at the Town and Jun-ho had been a presece on his life and yours that made you feel less lonely and safe...you still got worried over him. Like any mother would.
"Alright" You said giving him a bit of money "But stay close to Yejun, you think you can do that little one?" You asked smiling at him.
"Mom! Im five now" He said taking the momeny and blushing "But yes! I wont separate from them"
"Thats my son" You said seeing him go off with Yejun and the others.

A few months back on a different location:
In-ho stood over a big map, the island map and the new games that would be incorporated. It demanded new structures and more space. But after the last ones he needed to make this ones better.
The room was filled with soft jazz as he looked over the map and then at the games, a headache forming.
"Too much work for you?"
A voice he thought he would never hear in a situation like this one asked mocking him.
In-ho did not turn when Gi-hun entered the room, wearing clothes that resembled his own. The shaped mask removed.
"Its thanks to you that I have to make this games better" In-ho bite back getting a laught from Gi-hun
"The VIPs did not like seeing two lovers die last game and lose to me?" He asked getting a sound from In-ho
"Of course not. They are greedy pigs we both know it" In-ho responded turning back to look at Gi-hun.
If anyone would have told him that ex-player 456 and him would work together at the island In-ho would have actually laughted because the idea was absurd.
But here they were now. Usually Gi-hun was more on the security part. Kind of funny since he once wanted to end the games. But he also took a big part on picking up who the different recruiters have to to for.
"What do you want?" In-ho finally asked knowing Gi-hun would prefer to be on his part of the island than with him.
"I was just passing and seeing the calendar" Gi-hun said taking a seat. "The deadlines are close and your progress has been...rather slow"
"Im working on it. I will have it" In-ho said giving him his back again.
"I know its because of that woman and your kid. The kid's birthday is coming right?"
"Careful with what you say" In-ho said now fully turned killing Gi-hun with a simple look. But Gi-hun was not affected by it.
"You know, I did suspect you two were closer than what you two let out during the games...but to think you were the father.."
"Get to the point Seong" In-ho grunted
"I have a daughter too. She its in America as you know. Everyday I ask myself If i did the right thing getting back here and not going to her..."
In-ho said nothing already feeling where this conversation was going.
"But I change. I was never a good father. I tried but it was never enough. And after the first games..I was a mess. I could not see myself raising her. No after what I have done"
The jazz music played for a few seconds before he continued
"But its different with you. (Y/N) met you after you did win and while you were the only one moving this games. You two managed to connect and even create a life"
"She thinks im dead. And its better that way" In-ho said trying to even convince himself
"Dont you miss her ? Or your kid ? Dont you ever think on going to them ?"
Of course he did. Multiple times. The first two years were hell for him. Getting updates from Jun-ho about you and his son. His son who you have named after him. He did play the idea of going to you, maybe telling you everytning...but he was also scared. How would you react to it ? Knowing that after everything he was alive and on top of that he was the one behind the games ? No. He could never do that to you.
"Of course I miss her, I miss both of them. But seeing me would only make her miserable. She has my brother to help her out and my son has a great uncle. They dont need me"
Even it hurted so much to say it.
"Im just saying, I believe you have a chance. Your situation with her may be....complicated but if there is love then there is a chance"
"Since when did you become a psycologist?"
Gi-hun just laughted but without meaning it. Standing up he acomodated his clothes back.
"Im just saying, you may live in misery the rest of your life if you dont do something"
"Get out" Were the only words Gi-hun got in response.

Present time:
In-ho ran behind Yejun and the others, ice cream in hand.
"Cmon run faster!!" Yejun called over his shoulder and In-ho tried to without letting his ice cream fell.
A hard air breeze hit him on the face pulling out his hat.
In-ho watched it flew back, running towards it. It was a hat Jun-ho his uncle had got him. He could not afford to lose it.
Plus you would be pissed and would remove his game rights for a week at least.
Just as he was about to pick it up another hand a bigger one did.
Both In-ho's looked at each other. One not knowing the connection they did share and the other with the hear up in his throat at the sight.
Yes He had seen the pictures, but there was nothing that could compare on seeing his son on the flesh. He had his eyes and your hair. Being a perfect combination of both of you.
"Sir...thats my hat. Can I please get it back?" In-ho asked keeping a safe distance from the strange man.
In-ho smiled nodding offering the hat back, his son eyed him for a moment then took it making sure it was well put on his head.
"You should not lose it. Its a good hat" In-ho said getting a look from his son who gave a bow back.
"No I wont, thanks Sir!" He responded bowing
"I dont think your mother would like you losing it"
He saw his son's eye get bigger and he almost laughted at it.
"N-no, she would hate me for that"
"Hate its a strong world. She would be angry but im sure it would pass" In-ho said now a full smile on his face.
"...Yeah but she wont let me play videogames if I lost it" He hear his son whisper. He also took notice of the ice cream now starting to melt. He pulled out his wallet and handed some wones to his son who did not move.
"Your ice cream is melting, this is so you can buy a new one"
"Mom says to never accept things from strangers that everything has a price" His son responded making him smile even more.
"Your mom its very intelligent, if I tell you my name would you accept it?"
He saw his son brain go wild but at the end nodding.
"Im Oh In-ho"
If his son's eyes could get any bigger then these would be out of his face. His mouth open in suprise.
"You....you and me- we"
"IN-HO!! IN-HO DEAR WHERE ARE YOU" The desesperated screams from you cut his son's words off.
"MOM!!" In-ho called turning back seeing you going towards him with Yejun and Yejun's mom behind.
"What did I tell you about staying with Yejun?" You asked checking him for any injury "What happened ? Why did you got separated?"
"A strong wind took my hat and then this man returned it and even offered me money to buy ice cream since mine is melting-"
"Men? What men?" Yejun's mom asked looking around
"What? He was right...there" In-ho said to a now empy space with only some wones on the floor now.
"We should go back. I will tell the police to check this zone" Yejun's mom adviced you taking his own kid's hand.
"Yes, lets go In-ho"
"But mom! The Man and I had the same name!!" In-ho said all too happy to notice the look on your face.
"What..."
"Yes!! He told me his name was In-ho too, and that since I knew his name I could take the money"
For a few seconds you did not move or say a thing. It could...no it could not be. Maybe it was another men with the same name.
"Lets go In-ho. I will get you another ice cream on the way home"
"But mom the money..."
"Leave it, and you are grounded"
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
For your son that day was lost in his memory like many others. For you it was a day that made you get hope back. Hope that maybe just maybe In-ho was alive and because of the danger he was not showing himself.
But even if that was the case. Time passed, and never a thing like that one happened again.
Jun-ho had listened to your rant that same night on the phone trying to calm you down while thinking that he would kill his brother. He came next day as a suprise visit for In-ho but it was to make sure you were alright.
And so, four more years passed. Your son now ten years old full of life. A top student, a kind soul.
He was now able to go on his own between home, school and your flower shop.
Yes, after lots of goes and backs you managed to start your own flower shop. It did take time but you were glad you did. It was the only one in the town and was near your house and In-ho's school.
Jun-ho had said it was fitting for you. He was there during all the tedious process till the big opening.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
"I will be going for his birthday" Jun-ho said to his brother in his aparment in Seoul.
"He will be ten by now" In-ho whispered drinking some beer Jun-ho had.
"Yes, (Y/N) planned a big party for him" Jun-ho said smiling at your different ideas
"She is a good mother" In-ho said smiling looking at the empy glass
"...You should go"
"Werent you the one who did threat me last time? If I did show myself again ?" In-ho asked
"Thats because you ran away like a coward. (Y/N) was paranoid for days and her mental state got bad"
"Yes, thats why its better to go on like this"
"Really? Is this what you want? See your kid grow up from the shadows?"
"Jun-ho.."
"Listen I know, what you do is dangerous and you lied to her. But now its Gi-hun who does most of the things at the Island. You are there more like a face of sorts"
"Jun-ho I lied to her. She thinks im dead"
"I know. But so did I. I lied to her to help you. But I know her, I have know her for the past nine years. She still loves you, and I dare to say she still waits for you to return to her"
"She is good, but she wont ever forgive me.."
"Thats were you are wrong. Will she be angry? Yes, and with reason but will that anger be bigger than her love for you? No. Trust me on this. That woman...she loves you too much. You dont deserve her"
"I know"
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
"Uncle!!" The voice of In-ho sounded between the laught and other kid's voices.
Jun-ho smiled, seeing how tall he had got. Each day he looked more and more like a perfect mix of you and his brother.
"Hello Sport" Jun-ho called back messing up his hair.
"Stop it! Mom does this enough" In-ho said separating and re doing his hair.
"Does that mean you dont want your birthday gift ? Directly from Seoul ?" Jun-ho asked crossing his arms and smiling when he saw the quick change in expression.
"No-no!! Of course I want it" In-ho said taking Jun-ho's shirt and seeing behind his back. "Where is it?!!"
"Wait wait, your birthday its tomorrow" Jun-ho said pulling him away but still smiling "Why dont we get some ice coffee for your mom and some ice chocolate for you?" He asked and his newphew nodded.
"Yes! Mom said there is someone getting married next town and they left her tons of work" In-ho started to say walking towards the coffee store knowing the route by memory with Jun-ho besides him.
"Really? And she can handle it alone?"
"She hired someone! Not sure who he is, does not talk much. Dark hair and kind of tall"
Probably someone In-ho himself sent Jun-ho tought rolling his eyes
"Uncle?"
"Mhm?"
"Are you upset?" In-ho inoccent voice asked "I- mom says we need to look out for these who care about and I dont want you to feel bad" In-ho said looking to the side.
Jun-ho smiled, his heart doing jumps at his sweet nephew. It did seem that he had got your caring personality.
"Im fine Sports. Dont worry, lets get you that ice chocolate and a drink for your mom"
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
This is a bad idea. In-ho's mind said as he walked the streets down where your store was. You should go back, nothing good will come from this.
In-ho stood just a few meters away from your shop. He sweet alluring smell of the different flowers hitting him.
He saw the guy he had sent to help you (not that you needed to know that) get out with lots of boxes and putting them inside a ban. He drove off. In-ho knew it.
It was now or never, the last chance.
~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○~○
You moved around the back of the store. Checking different recipes and dates. The weeding next Town have proved to be a challenge for you. So much you had to hire someone to help you out.
But things were going good. Even if some days your body hurt from moving so much. Or your fingers tremble from making the different flower arrangements.
It was worth at the end, seeing the happiness in others. It gave you a sense of...comfort, and part of you liked to think that In-ho watched over you. Specially when you tended the greenhouse right next to the store. The natural smell and the connection with the dirt...it felt good. It grounded yourself.
You would close your eyes and imagine that he was standing there. Just watching you work with a rare yet soft smile, one that was saved only for you.
"Mom? What are your favorite flowers?" You kid had asked when he was seven years old while you two planted some seeds.
"My favorite flower...and from where comes the question?" You asked back passing him something to clean himself up.
"Well...I like games. And animals, but I have a favorite one...and you like flowers"
"So I must have a favorite one then?" You smiled and he nodded
"Well....I think my favorite ones are Iris..and do you know why?"
He said no and you explained.
"There is a thing, called Language of Flowers, and in them Iris means Hope. I believe its a good thing to have"
"But we studied languages at class and that was never mentioned!" In-ho said somehow offended by the fact that such a thing was never teached to him.
"Oh my dear, I can teach you if you want" In-ho agreed almost getting up to go for some papper and pens but you stopped him.
"Shower first"
"But mom-" A single look from you made him stop "Alright"
A few weeks passed, while you were at the store In-ho entered running, almost knocking a few flowers.
"In-ho! No running inside the store" You said getting up and going towards him but he ignored you pulling out his notebook.
"A chrysanthemum Mom!! You are a chrysanthemum" In-ho said signaling a drawing of the flower then an arrow and a silly draw of you.
"What..."
"Because, chrysanthemum means eternal beauty !! And mom, you are beautiful and eternal" In-ho said showing you the meaning under the draw.
You cried hugging him.
"Mom? Are you...crying?"
"No Son...im just happy. Im just really happy.
The sound of the door opening indicating that a new costumer have arrived made you came back. Not hearing your son or Jun-ho's voice let you knew it was not them.
"One moment please!" You said giving the flower arrangement its final details, the white and pastel yellows giving the cala flowers its final touch.
You left it there and went to the front moving your hair, to try and look less of a mess.
"Welcome! How can I help you-"
Your world stopped. The air in your lungs vanished and your vision went from zero to thousand. A few tears forming.
There was no way, you blinked, maybe you were seeing things again.
But no, there he was. In the flesh. Chest raising and falling indicating that he was alive.
Your In-ho, the Man you loved.
"Hello (Y/N)...we meet again"

Notes:
ITS FINALLY HERE!! THE END OF THIS SERIES. Thanks a lot for these who read this since part one and waited till this end. I had a hard personal time but was able to pull it out!! I truly hope you like it.
And if you are reading this after you read this in one go Thanks too!!
This was my first series. I never really planned on making one. I wanted it to be two parts but I kept adding things. And then the ending got longer as my brain gave my more ideas.
And yes I used flowers for meaning, I google them! So if something is wrong...well sorry.
Questions you may have:
Is this really the ending?
A) YES!! This is the ending. Its happy or sad ? Not even I know, I would call it bittersweet.
Would you ever write more for this?
A) If I do its going to be pieces of them as family but nothing complex.
What was In-ho doing these nine years?
A) Working as the Front Man and being too scared too approach the love of his life. But he kept a close eye on her.
Why is Gi-hun now helping with the games?
A) Easy, because its a fanfic and I wanted that end for him. Besides i feel like it fits him. He is too broken to go back to a normal life.
The guy (Y/N)'s hires is the guard from S2 EP7 ?
A) Well he dies in canon but you can think its him but older!!
Did Jun-ho felt romantic feelings for (Y/N) at some point?
A) Up to you to decide! I dont think (Y/N) would ever move from In-ho so I can assure you. She never slept with Jun-ho or had any interest in him as a romantic partner.
What happened to (Y/N)'s brother?
A) Up to you! But he never shows again in her life and In-ho Jrs does not know about him.
Did my favs survive the games?
A) Again, up to you!!

masterlist | cyana's masterlist
word count: 1.8k tw: anxiety, mentions of bullying, panic attacks, sleeping pills italics are interviews cut between scenes + english a/n: we're finally starting to dive into cyana's backstory + the mystery of what happened in LA! if any of the above trigger warnings trigger you - scroll away, stay safe, and come back for the next one 💓
Cyana never really understood how some of the members could stand to watch their own fancams. Sure, she understood that it was a vital part of analyzing their performance, but every time she tried searching up her own fancams, she was greeted with a wave of self-embarrassment and cringe.
“It won’t be like that forever,” Vernon tried comforting her, pausing his own fancam on his phone to look up at her. “You’ll end up getting used to watching yourself on camera.”
Cyana shuddered. “I can’t imagine I’d ever get used to that.” Reaching over, she pressed play on his phone. “Other people’s fancams, however, that I like to watch.”
Vernon laughed, his ears turning pink as he adjusted his phone, letting Cyana watch over his shoulder.
“Woww,” She marveled at the end, quietly applauding the performance. “So cool.”
Vernon smiled, swiping out of the video. “Not bad, huh.”
“Psh.” She smacked his shoulder lightly. “Not bad my ass. Give yourself some more credit, Hansol.”
His lips quivered into a small smile, amused by how Cyana seamlessly switched to calling him by his Korean name when speaking English. Ironic, but for some reason it fit.
“Anything in particular you’re looking for?”
Vernon opened the door to the record store, motioning Cyana to head in first. He had promised the girl he’d accompany her to get a couple records, knowing how much she had been looking forward to browsing the New York streets. He was just as excited, shopping for anything music related was probably the only shopping he found himself enjoying.
“The National.” Cyana said, already flipping through the boxes of records. “The 1975, The Cure, really anything I can get my hands on.” She pulled one out, gasping as she presented it to Vernon. “No way! Look at this.”
Taking the record from her hands, he turned it over to read out the artist. “The Beatles?” He looked at her, a little confused. “I didn’t think you’d be a big Beatles fan.”
Cyana looked a little offended at his words. “I am. Huge fan. I’m getting that one.”
Vernon held the record out of her reach, tucking it underneath his arm as he moved to another aisle. “I’ll get it for you, don’t worry about it.”
“Really?”
Vernon hummed, sifting through the boxes, looking for his own purchase.
“Wow. Look at you,” Cyana tucked into his side, a hand around his lower arm as she browsed the options with him. “So dependable.”
“How are you feeling?” The doctor prodded at Vernon’s neck and throat. “Any soreness?”
He shook his head, thankful that he wasn’t feeling at all ill, unlike the others. “I’m doing fine, doc.”
He watched as the doctor moved on to Woozi, repeating the same procedure with him and asking the same questions. Pulling out his phone, Vernon scrolled in a daze, allowing his mind to shut off for a little bit before their concert. He liked letting his mind blank out for a moment, like it was rebooting all his thoughts, worries and signals.
It was Cyana’s quiet voice that pulled him out, most likely because the girl was speaking English.
“Do you think I can get some meds for sleeping?”
Vernon looked up from his phone, eyebrows furrowed as he watched Cyana interact with the doctor, who was packing up his kit, ready to go.
“Have you been having trouble sleeping?” The doctor asked her, pausing to give her a proper lookover.
“A bit.” Cyana mumbled, glancing around, as if to check that no one was listening. Her eyes drifted over Vernon before returning to the floor next to her feet. “Or just in case.”
Nodding, the doctor pulled out a bottle, shaking it slightly before handing it to her. “Most people in your line of work ask for the same thing, so I always keep it on hand. Take two before bed, three, if it’s not enough. But no more, alright?”
Vernon watched Cyana slip the pill bottle into her hoodie pocket, thanking the doctor before retreating back into her chair. He frowned before shrugging, returning back to his phone and putting his brain back on airplane mode. It was whatever, right?
“I could remember our LA show extremely clearly because I remember how Cyana’s face looked minutes before it.” Vernon told the camera, moistening his lips before continuing. “She looked like going on stage would destroy her completely.”
Even under the dim lights beneath the stage, Vernon could tell there was something different about the way Cyana looked as they waited for the platform to rise with them on top of it. Usually she’d be smiling his way with a bright, dazzling grin, all pumped up for their performance and buzzing with energy. Now however, as Vernon stared at her, she seemed distant - almost muted - as if something had drained all the color from her cheeks.
He reached over and gently shook her shoulder. “You good?” He mouthed, searching her eyes for an answer.
She shrugged his hand off her shoulder and mouthed back an okay, before turning away and readjusting her mic.
He didn’t believe her one bit.
“I mean,” He tried explaining himself to the camera. “I could relate to her, I guess. I keep things to myself a lot too. If I'm struggling, I won’t hide it, but it’s not like I’ll talk about it either.” He let out a small sigh. “I guess that’s why I didn’t say anything for a long time. I thought maybe silence was just normal for her like it was for me.”
Looking back now, on that concert day in LA, Vernon could remember seeing her hunched over, backstage, after a particularly intense run of Getting Closer. He remembered chalking up her sweat and body chills to mere overexhaustion, simply handing her a bottle of water before going back up for his turn with the Hiphop Unit.
He also remembered hearing her quiet sobs and harsh breaths from across the room, as they all waited for the Performance Unit to finish with their set. Cyana was mostly covered by a worrying Joshua, fussing over her and whispering something Vernon was too far away to hear.
He remembered how worried everybody was that day. How DK and Hoshi were unnaturally quiet on the way back to the hotel, their eyes sending fleeting glances over to Cyana, unsure what they could do to help. How Jeonghan and Joshua could only sit and hold her hand, Joshua’s eyes sending signals to Jeonghan that Vernon couldn’t understand. But most of all, he remembered how Dino came to sleep in his room that night, tears tracking down his face as he sobbed over Cyana asking to room alone. The boy couldn’t understand why she had kicked him out - and why they were all useless to stop it.
“I was already worried about Coups hyung.” Vernon recalled. “We look out of sync when we’re missing someone, and I didn’t want Cyana to need to leave as well.”
Vernon had no idea what was going on, as he tried meeting Joshua’s eyes to ask him what the hell was up with their youngest member. The older boy infuriatingly refused to meet his eyes, only leaving Cyana’s room to grab food or water for the girl.
“Just wait.” He told Vernon when Vernon finally got a hold of him, just about to leave the washroom after brushing his teeth. “She’ll explain when she feels better.”
“Why can’t you just tell us now, though?” Vernon asked. “Everyone is going insane. Both DK and Dino went to bed crying last night and Mingyu looks like a kicked puppy waiting outside her door. Seungkwan even told me Wonwoo’s affected, something about how his face is stuck permanently in a worried expression. I’m going insane too, hyung.” He admitted the last part rather timidly.
Joshua looked torn. “I can’t.” He finally said after a painful pause. Moving behind Vernon, Joshua left, leaving him standing in front of the bathroom, looking incredibly stupid and pathetic.
“I just wanted answers.” Vernon mumbled, not looking at the interviewer or the camera as he spoke. “And it felt like no one really had them. All of us had recounted that day, trying to piece together what could have affected Cyana so terribly - but none of us could think of anything at all.”
Cyana made sure to walk right next to Woozi as they exited the venue in between the barricades holding their fans back. It was rather strategic of her, she knew. Walking next to Woozi would ensure a constant presence - he wasn’t one to run up to the barricades and interact with fans, wasn’t one to draw attention to himself and therefore those around him. Cyana chose to be next to him for send-off for one reason: to not be seen.
She couldn’t justify the fear to herself - let alone other people - so she kept the fear she knew was irrational and childish hidden. How was she to explain she was afraid of the crowd? Of their beloved fans?
Oh hey, Joshua. Yeah, I can’t do today’s concert because I’m afraid I’ll go up onstage and someone from the crowd will jump me. Or shoot me. Or throw a knife at me. Or throw acid up onstage. Or- anyways, yeah. So I can’t perform today. I feel like I might pass out onstage. Why? Oh- I kinda have people who want to kill me in LA. Yeah- from highschool. Bullies. I know, a long time ago. So it’s irrational. Right? And it’s not like they said they’d kill me. So it should be fine, right?
A swirl of thoughts wrapped around her as she continued to walk, putting one foot in front of the other, trying to block out the loud cheers and screams from the crowd. She had gone through the concert. Now all she needed to do was walk through the sea of fans, enter the company car and go home.
You have to at least wait till you’re back in the hotel room before you break down. She chided herself. You must.
A scream, not much louder than the rest of the fans, caught her ear. She whipped her head around at the sound of her voice - yelled out through a sea of fans. She knew that voice. Her blood grew cold as her ears rang - muffling the world around her - and Cyana felt as if she was sixteen once again.
Her eyes drifted from face to face in the direction of the scream until it landed on a girl in the front row, holding a bright pink banner with Vernon’s name on it.
“Cyana!” The girl yelled out again, her eyes twinkling in a way that made Cyana’s skin feel ice cold.
And she watched, horrified, as the familiar girl mouthed an all too familiar five words at her. I’m going to get you.

The Aftermath
Pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley x Reader
Word Count: 2k
The first part does give context, but isn’t required for this read.
Summary: You knew the difficulty the process of being a mated Omega in the military. You understood how much you would lose, but you never thought about the difficulty in your normal life. Never thought about the panic you would have, or how much it would effect you and Ghost's personal relationship.
Content Tags: Hospitals, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, No use of Y/N, Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics, Alpha! Ghost
A/N: I was not expecting such a good response to Maple Syrup, and since y'all seemed to like it so much here's basically the next part. Let me know if you want anything specific, my asks should be open. <3 I'm adding a 'keep reading' link to make sure you can scroll on if you want.
Previous, Next | Headcannons, Masterlist
Everything felt wrong. Ghost wasn't injured, but he was being held overnight in the medbay. The Maple Syrup had run its course through him, but he could hear chatter echoing in the room. He could smell you, you weren't too far from him but he wasn't allowed to see you. Price had come in not too long after the doctors had checked him over and cleared him, arms crossed as he sat in the chair next to the bed Ghost was in.
"We'll need to talk, you know," was the only thing Price had said, leaning back and relaxing in the chair.
"Is the Doc okay?" Ghost asked, looking in the direction your scent was coming from. The sickly sweet smell of heat was becoming stale, but you were on lock and key just in case any Alpha soldiers tried to come in. Price looked in the same direction, giving a faint shrug.
"I'm going to be updated once she's steady enough for the doctors to leave her alone," Price said. "Gaz is on watch outside her room," Ghost nodded. Gaz was a Beta, so it would be fine for him to be that close. Ghost still didn't like it, he didn't know how his pack was, where everyone was, if everyone was safe.
It took a few hours, it was well past midnight before any movement came from the direction of your room. The curtains surrounding Ghosts bed was moved, the Doctor gesturing for Price to follow him. Ghost had tried to listen in, but it wasn't worth it. He was still in mild pain from the mission, the place where the tranq had stabbed him still throbbed every so often.
Price walked back in some time later, looking at Ghost with a sigh. That didn't make him feel good, panic started to flow through him, thoughts of you dying flashed in his mind for a few moments.
"She's gonna be fine," Price started. "They got her heat back under control, they're just waiting for it to finish cycling through her. Outside of that, she's fine," Price sat next to Ghost. "I can't ask you about what happened. I can only tell you what will happen," he looked away.
You woke up, head foggy and throbbing with a headache. You could see a form moving next to you, checking your vitals. You gave a soft groan, your neck throbbing alongside your core. Everything hurt, but you weren't able to tell if it was everything.
"You finally waking up?" The voice asked, and you could recognize it. "You've been out for a few days, you've even had Ghost trying to get in," she giggled a little. Amanda. That was her name, she was one of the nurses you'd been working with prior to the mission that went south.
At the mention of Ghost, you sat upright, vision spinning before righting itself.
"It was a really bad heat you were sent into, y'know. Took us a few hours to stabilize you, but you're doing good for yourself," she smiled, trying to lay you back down but you pushed her off of you.
"I need to talk to him," god even your throat hurt. She nodded slowly, sticking her head out of the door. You rubbed your head, headache now making you feel sick. It took a few moments, but you heard footsteps come in the room, a figure standing next to you. When you looked up, it was Price.
"There are some procedures we need to go through. I've already got some officers in, but we still need to talk about what happened," Price started, moving to sit in the chair near you. "Ghost has already spoken with them, so it'll be you, me and the officers. I think Laswell has flown in as well," you stared at Price.
With a few blinks, you looked down to think. Ghost had already spoken with the officers? You knew what the rules were like, and you knew that your career was now in his hands. It pissed you off, if you could really focus on feeling much outside of pain.
"The officers are trying to get him to make a decision on your career. I can't let you two talk about anything yet, the Adjutant Officers still need to figure things out before you'll be allowed near each other," Price looked away, your jaw tensing. You really had no rights anymore, did you?
It took another few days before you were released. The second you had clothes of your own to wear, you were gone off into your room.
Someone had been here. You could smell a stale scent, but you weren't able to place it. It was too distant to be able to decipher, but your room was exactly the same as it had been left before you were hospitalized. You didn't feel comfortable in your room, knowing someone had been here.
A knock on the door made you spin, nerves set tight. As you opened the door, a large figure came into view.
"Doc," Ghost started, before being yanked into your room and having the door slammed behind him. You turned on him, staring at him sharply. You pointed, opening your mouth before shutting it and groaning, running hands through your hair.
You kept trying to start talking before you stopped yourself, eventually kicking at the wall in irritation.
"What did you say to them?" You hissed, back still turned and facing the wall. You could hear him shift behind you, boots scuffing against the ground. You turned, storming up to him, chest to chest. "What the hell did you tell them? You gonna dismantle my career? Make me some fucking house-omega?" You were growling now, you could feel your muscles tensing.
When he didn't respond, you groaned, tossing your hands up in defeat and walking away from him. You turned, hand on your hip, waiting for a response.
"I don't want to take your career away," he whispered, finally. You barked a laugh, rubbing your wrist against your bitten gland. His hand reached out to grab you, but you moved away from him. "I don't want to make decisions for you," he added, voice growing more desperate.
You shook your head, pulling your hand away from your gland and shaking them out. Ghost reached out to you again, hand catching your shoulder before you shrugged him off.
"I don't know what to do," you whispered. "I'm terrified, because now I'm outed to so many people, and there's quite literally nothing I can do to save myself," you turned to look at Ghost.
He scoffed. "You think I'm going to ruin things for you? I've already told you, I don't want that kind of control over you," he looked away, crossing his arms. You could smell the distress on him.
"You have done shit to make me trust you!" Your voice raised before dropping, a hand running down your face. "I have zero control left, you know how many rights I have as a mated Omega?" He shook his head. "None," you glared at him.
Ghost glanced at you before looking away again. He shook his head, moving to leave before you blocked the door from him.
"You don't get to walk out when we're talking," you growled at him and he growled back.
"This isn't a conversation, this is you getting all pissy on me," he loomed over you, forcing you to take a step back. "I didn't want this to happen, I would have chosen any other way to save us, but we didn't get a choice, did we?" You looked away.
"Get out,"
He could smell the distress on you the second he spoke. Your scent left him spiraling, he was panicking. His Omega was distressed, and he was the cause. He wanted to fix it, correct the problem and make you happy again.
Ghost could do nothing when you repeated yourself.
"Get the hell out," you glared at him. Ghost opened his mouth to give you a retort, but you had turned away. He bit his tongue, turning to stare at the door.
"You know that's not what I meant," he whispered, opening the door and leaving.
Even after walking aimlessly for ten minutes, he could still smell your distress on your scent, the sour taste stuck on the back of his throat. This wasn't how he had intended to talk to you, he wanted to make a plan for when they asked him more questions regarding your career.
Ghost was pissed off, more so with himself than you, but he wanted to comfort you. Fix what he had said, take it back.
But he had a meeting to attend, and he needed to make sure he didn't say anything wrong.
You sat in the conference room, Price, Laswell and an Adjutant officer sitting across from you. This was the third time you'd gone over what had happened.
"So you say this 'Maple Syrup' is what caused Ghost to go into a feral rut?"
"Yes," you deadpanned, glaring through the Adjutant. "We've already been through all of this, there is literally nothing else that I haven't told you," the Adjutant hummed.
"We need to make sure everything is covered," he told you, looking at the paper he had been writing on for the past hour and a half.
You looked at Price, hoping he would help you in any way. He looked away, leaning further back into his seat.
"What about my career?" The room went silent, the Adjutant stopped reading, glancing over at Price who had finally looked at you. "I want to know what's happening," you whispered. The last few days had left you unsure of yourself. You wanted to confront Ghost, you wanted to apologize for snapping at him, you wanted to fix what you'd said.
None of them spoke, Laswell had opened her mouth to speak before closing it, taking a deep breath. Her fingers tapped on the table, looking at Price and the Adjutant.
She looked back at you. "You aren't allowed to make any decisions regarding that, you know," your head dropped back with a groan, wrist rubbing against your bitten gland roughly. You were terrified, you didn't know what the future was going to hold.
You had so little control and it was getting worse. You stood abruptly, going to walk out the door before Price spoke.
"Would you like to speak with Ghost?" You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. With people around, you wouldn't snap on him, but you also didn't want to see him since his last remarks. You really needed to know if you still worked here, or if he was going to force you to become a house-omega.
You nodded, turning around and sitting back down while staring Price down as he made a phone-call. A few moments later, Ghost walked in and sat beside you, but you still couldn't look at him. It was silent for a few minutes, everyone looking at each other, waiting for the first to speak.
"You still have a job here," Ghost spoke up. "I didn't let them remove you, but they won't allow you on missions anymore," he added the last part quietly. You nodded.
You could hear Price and Laswell ushering the Adjutant Officer out of the room, the door closing with a click behind them. Neither you nor Ghost talked for a few minutes, you could smell a certain level of stress on him.
"Thank you," you whispered, glancing quickly at him. He was staring at you, eyes watching your every twitch and shudder. "I'm... sorry, for the other day," you fiddled with your fingers. "I didn't mean to snap at you."
Ghost shook his head, hesitating before grabbing your hand, pulling it close to him and in turn tugging you towards him. You finally turned to look at him, and his eyes visibly softened.
He looked down, then back up to you. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said what I did. Not in the way I did," he tugged you even closer to him, nuzzling into your gland. "I don't regret having you as my mate now, but if I could've changed what I did, you wouldn't be stuck with me making decisions for you now," you leaned in to him, pressing your face into his chest.
It relaxed you, his scent, and allowed you to think much clearer.
"I'm just so scared,"

Pairing: Mina x fem!reader
Synopsis: After receiving the call from the hospital, Mina rushes to you. Once she's there she finds you unconscious. You had been hit by a drunk driver and were now in a coma.
Warnings: Drink-driving, car accidents, the reader is in a coma, trying to go for angst (let's hope it is indeed angst), death, death talks, overthinking, grief, the start of isolation (?) not sure, maybe abandonment issues.
A/n: this was actually hard for me to write, I never actually wrote angst so this is a first. Every time I tried to write angst it was always really small so this was a change! I'm sorry for any grammar/vocab mistakes, and if you have any notes or criticism I have my inbox open :)

pt1 - pt2 - pt3
Mina had never been interested in taking a part in any horror movie projects, she thought herself a versatile actress of course, but the opportunity had never arrived and if she was being honest, she was grateful for that as many would consider her a scared cat. She never thought, however, that her life would become one.
She doesn’t really remember what happened after she got to the hospital, one moment she was at Sana’s house gushing about the ring she had found, and the other she was rushing through the hospital doors looking for you. All she remembers is being guided to a waiting room and the excruciating time she had to wait to finally get the news you had been hit by a drunk driver.
Since then, she hadn’t left your side, she had barely eaten or slept. She couldn’t bring herself to leave your side, even in sleep.
You were supposedly well for the time being, you had undergone surgery and the doctor had called you a “fighter”, but due to the brain haemorrhage you had sustained because of a hit to the head during the accident, you were now in a coma.
“Here, you need to eat,” Jihyo said, putting one of the cafeteria sandwiches in front of her. Ever since she had been released, she had been stopping by as much as she could, almost always with Jeongyeon because of her new impairment. “How’s she doing?”
“Same as always…” She sighs. “How’s your arm?”
“Eh, I’ll be alright, doctor’s said it’ll heal up fine.” Jihyo sits next to her, showing off her cast. “Any updates?”
The doctors had been reassuring, telling her that there were positive possible outcomes and that you were responding well to treatment. “Well they have been positive, they said that she’s reacting well, but that we should be aware that there are other outcomes that could happen.”
As if on cue, one of your doctors got into the room. “Good morning, how are we doing today?” She says, calmly, as she goes over to you to check your vitals. “Her vitals are stable, everything seems to be just as it was yesterday.” She takes off her glasses, looking straight at Mina. “It has been two weeks, there’s little we can do now except wait. You should go home, take a break”
She couldn’t believe it had been two weeks already, it felt like it was just yesterday.
“I can stay until you get back, I’m sure her parents are on their way as well.” Jihyo reassures Mina, encouraging her to go home and take care of herself.
She saw a familiar face in the hallway, she couldn’t decide if she wanted to run away or run to him, scream that he had taken everything from her, chastise him for his reckless behaviour, tell him that because of his disgusting vice, he had put such a beautiful life in danger, he had put the love of her life in a coma.
She ran.
She ran to her car, she couldn’t breathe.
Who was she kidding, she couldn’t face him, she could barely face your parents, your friends, her friends. This was an overreaction, your doctors were optimistic, and despite the circumstances, she didn’t have to worry about you leaving her just yet. You had promised her you wouldn’t.
She was afraid, she felt like she couldn’t breathe half of the time. The noise inside the hospital didn’t help, doors swinging open, machines beeping, doctors walking in at any time inside every room. She didn’t even have time to let the fear set in, to let it marinade and let her think and rationalize it. She was also afraid to do that as well, because she didn’t want to believe that she had any reason to feel that immense fear.
❂
After her first night at the hospital, the only person Mina wanted to talk to was her older cousin. She remembers how she was always around Momo when they were both children and how she protected her from other kids. She felt like she needed that protection then, she needed her older cousin with her. So Momo, after Mina had called her, quickly moved into your shared house. She would be there to take care of Otis, go to the hospital every day to make sure Mina was taking care of herself, take care of the house, and just be there for Mina.
“...yes mom I’ve slept, I’m taking Otis for a walk now, Momo had to go to the city today, so I’m taking him to Jeongyeon.” She said as she tried to get Otis to stop running around, trying to put on his leash so that they could finally go on a walk and as soon as she’s out the door, she felt like she could breathe again with Otis excitedly walking alongside her. She couldn’t help but smile at his excitement, she felt like she should’ve done better by him, be more present, but you needed her.
As she was walking down the road, she could feel the sense of dread rush through her. She was going to face Jeongyeon. How could she go to her house and pretend everything was fine? The idea of going there and facing one of the most important people in your life almost made her sick. You were unconscious in a bed and she was about to go meet your best friend.
She didn’t know what to do, she was helpless. As soon as she got the news she ran to you, she stood by you, she couldn’t sleep or eat, she just wanted to make sure you were ok, but she also knew that your health and your stability weren’t something that was granted.
Mina had never seen your father cry. He was someone who had always tried to bring joy into every situation. He was a constant in your family, the rock. Everyone always knew they could count on him to make everything better. You took after him a lot. She couldn’t recognize him now, it broke her heart to see him like this. He would sit by your side, gently holding your hand with his shaky one to his mouth, kissing it, while whispering sweet nothing's, trying to soothe you while trying his best not to cry or move too suddenly in a way it could somehow hurt you. During that moment, all she could think about was how unfair life was. You were in a coma, Jihyo had a broken arm, but the drunk driver who had caused all of this had got off with little scratches and a sore body from the impact.
“Your mom is going to be ok you know that right?” Mina whispers to the dog as she sits next to him, letting him rest a little. She knows he can’t understand her, but he looks at her and rests his head on her thigh, and for a second, Mina lets herself believe that he did understand her and is hoping as well for your swift recovery.
She tried to shake those thoughts off for a moment, watching as the trees surrounding her cast a dark shadow over them, despite not having much light, the quiet and the darker ambiance gave her peace of mind, she was at ease.
“Hey buddy!” Otis runs towards Jeongyeon as soon as he lays his eyes on her. “Who’s excited to have a sleepover, uh?”
“Thank you for looking after him,” Mina says, not knowing exactly what to do as she watched the older girl kneel to pet Otis.
“Yeah, of course,” She reassures. “How is she doing? Any progress?”
They go over to the steps on the porch, letting Otis explore Jeongyeon’s backyard. “She’s fragile, you know? Right now, the doctors say she’s stabilizing and that they’re optimistic, but there’s still a long road.”
“That’s good, I’ll go over tomorrow, I’ll take Jihyo.” They both get silent. They don’t know what to say to each other exactly. “She’ll pull through”, “She’s strong!”, “Everything will turn out fine!” were useless for them, it didn’t feel right to utter those words to each other, so they sat in silence.
“Are you ok?”
She wasn’t. She was everything but. She wanted to scream. She wanted you to wake up. Every time she had to wake you up was like torture to her, the idea of disrupting your sleep wasn’t something she liked, so if she really had to wake you up, she would do it in the most gentle way she could. Right now, all she wanted was for you to wake up, she didn’t particularly care about the how.
After she left, she no longer had Otis to occupy her mind, all she had was the sounds of the bird above her and her bustling thoughts. She wanted to block them out but once she got to her car, to go back to you, the silence became deafening, she was finally alone with the fearful thoughts about you.
Thankfully, as she thought when she went to pick it up, her phone rang loudly through the car, cutting the silence
“Mina speaking.” She clears her throat, getting rid of the lump that was starting to form as she thought about possible outcomes.
“Miss Myoui, Miss L/n has suffered a seizure and is now on the operating block, You should come as soon as possible.”
❂
The doctors had told them they should notify anyone important, should bring relatives, important people in your life to the hospital. There was nothing they could do.They had discussed all the possibilities, what to do with your body, what were your choices, what would you had done if you were awake. Everything past that was a blur to Mina. She didn’t even listen to everything the doctor had said about organ donation, it was unbearable, and she unfairly let that information fall onto your parent's shoulder for the time being.
She sat by your side, like so many other nights. How did it come to this? She didn’t know what to feel, what to say, so she did what she had done since your first day there, she sat by your side, held your hand, and hoped for you to wake up.
“Mina?”
She couldn’t move. It had been decided. Not by her choice, she could barely move. They had found a document you had drafted that specified your wishes. Neither she nor your parents could or would oppose your choice.
Your Dad gently places his hands on Mina's shoulder, but she, startled, shakes it off, scared he would take her away from you so quickly.
“Mina...”
“Just...,” she starts, not sure of what to say. "I just need to hold her" she finally lets out in a broken whisper. “Please.”
She is left alone with you and finds herself getting up and laying her head on your chest, as gently as she can as not to hurt you, just wanting to hear your heartbeat instead of the constant beeping to her left. She knows this isn't what you would've wanted. You would've wanted her last memory of her touching you to be of your soft mornings, not of your stiff limbs. You wouldn't have wanted her last image of you to be of your body lying motionless on a hospital bed. But she still feels the need to go over to you, to trace mindless shapes on your arms, to kiss your hands, to hold you one last time. She wants to keep you close but can't bear to look at your face, knowing that if she does, everything will become real. So she keeps her hand interlocked with yours. Her ear, not touching but near enough to your chest for her to hear your faint heartbeat.
Finally, her legs start to give out, she feels like the ground had been swept from beneath her. She sits and takes your hands in hers. Without thinking, she looks to her left and is faced with your closed eyes. You looked so peaceful. Tears start to run down her face, hitting your clothes.
"I'm sorry"
You're still motionless in your bed.
She brings your hand to her lips and gently kisses your knuckles, just as she usually did in the mornings when she had to wake you up.
"Please" she tries. Mina's face screws up as she tries to take in a breath. "You promised you would always come back" she whimpers into your hand. "Please"
She knew this was for the better. You weren’t able to do anything. You couldn’t breathe on your own, you couldn’t think, you couldn’t feel. You wanted this to be your final act of kindness.
"Mina," Your mother says, laying her hand on her shoulder.
"No" She says, her voice coming out muffled by your hand.
"The doctors needs to take her." she tries, as gently as she possibly can, trying to get her to let go.
"I can take her there" she weekly says, afraid of the thought of letting you go. "She likes it when I hold her hand, I can't let go."
"I-" she tries, a sob threatening to come out, your father silently crying at the scene in front of him.
"She can hold her hand until we get there." A voice suddenly says. Another day, Mina would've turned and looked to see who it was. But right now, she couldn't tear her eyes away from you.
"You can hold her hand while we bring her in, ok?" the gentle voice tells her as it’s owner proceeds with others to ready your body for transportation.
Mina gets up, her hand still clutching yours. When she almost falls to her knees, knees buckling, they hold her up.
She walks with you the whole way until she is stopped.
"They need to take her now ok?" Your mom tries, her hand gently laying on her arm.
Mina looks up from you for the first time. She looks at everyone, confused, like she couldn't understand what she had said, not knowing how to answer back. A hand is held out for her, hoping for Mina to take it so that they can take your body away.
"It's ok." she says once she feels Mina's hand in hers. She pulls Mina in slowly, her arms wrapping around her frame.
She watches you leave.
Momo went to Mina as soon as she heard what had happened. When she got there, who she saw wasn’t the grown and confident woman she had watched her cousin become. It was the little girl who used to cling to her arm when they went to the playground, too afraid to be on her own in an unknown world. The look of confusion on her face when they had told her they had to take your body and separate them made her sick. She looked like a helpless child. She guides Mina to the car, she’s not saying anything. She has a dazed look in her eyes. She drives her home in silence.
As soon as she’s inside the bedroom, Mina seems to notice that she had been holding a bag. She opens it and inside she finds your rings and your glasses. The rim was broken. She wipes off the dust that had been collecting on the lens, folds them, and places them on your bedside table. She lays down and holds onto your pillow, quickly falling asleep.
❂
“It was a lovely speech, we’re so sorry for your loss.”
Mina didn’t know how much longer she could stand there and hearing sorry’s from everyone you had ever known. While giving the speech, she didn’t feel like herself, there was this feeling of being watched by herself as if she was outside her own body. During the speech she felt the words run out of her mouth, she doesn’t remember writing them down, she doesn’t remember thinking about them, it all just spilled out. During the ceremony, she could feel Jihyo’s eyes burn into her, she hadn’t had the courage to face her, face any of your family and friends. She couldn’t face anything that was slightly related to you, even being in the same room as Otis was painful enough, being in the house you both had shared was a nightmare. That had a quick solution, however, she had moved back into her old apartment.
“Mina,” She couldn’t move. She knew she would have to face them eventually, but she thought, foolishly, that, maybe, some calls here and there would suffice. “Thank you for your words.”
She nods. She can’t bear to face them. “It’s nothing. She deserved more.”
“We would love to have you over,” Your father starts, slowly, knowing that Mina might not be ready as for now. “Sometimes talking helps, that’s what I’ve been told.” As soon as she met his eyes, she felt like her knees were about to give out from underneath her, she quickly grabbed onto Momo, not wanting to appear weak. His eyes were just like yours, even had the same smile lines around them, the same mole at the corner of your left eye.
“We should.” She says, trying to convince herself that she would really accept and go to his house, to have a warm meal, and talk about you, about how much of a gift you were, about how you were taken away from them too soon.
Just thinking about all that made her sick.
She was grateful for Momo, she didn’t make small talk, and she didn’t hold it against her when she made no effort to talk or interact.
After finally arriving home, she went straight to the shower, she wanted out of those clothes, they felt suffocating. As soon as the water hit her shoulders, she could feel herself decompress. The warm water running down her face, down her body, was all she needed.
Once out of the shower, she searched for something to wear, it had been getting colder. Rummaging through the clothes proved to not be the best idea, she found your university hoodie. The same hoodie she had folded weeks prior as she was organizing the clothes and coincidentally had found the ring box inside. She shakily opens the box, and inside still sits the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. You thought it was smart to leave it at her old apartment since she barely went there.
She doesn’t know how long she stood there, just staring at it, but Momo came worriedly to her room calling her name, so she assumed she had been there for a while. When she locks eyes with Momo, she can’t control the sob that wrecks through her, collapsing on the floor right after.
“She’s gone” she whimpers, feeling Momo’s arms circle her frame. “I lost her”
The older girl doesn’t know what to say, seeing her younger cousin so heartbroken, so lost, so unlike the shy joyous girls she knew, she felt helpless. “Let’s get you to bed, ok?”
“Please don’t leave” She whispers as she sees Momo start to leave the room.
“I’m only getting some water, I’ll be right back you won’t even notice ok?” She quickly says, trying to be as reassuring as possible. Sleep came faster than her, soon she was asleep in the bed you had once shared.

Scrubs
Summary: Melissa's nonna is in the hospital and you just so happen to be the nurse assigned to the woman.
WC: ~3.2k
The last thing that Melissa Schemmenti expects when she picks up the phone that day is to hear her mother crying into the phone that Nonna had a stroke and was in the hospital.
“Ma? What do you mean Nonna had a stroke?” Melissa rushes out as she’s grading papers in her classroom.
“She- she had a stroke, I don’t know!” the older Schemmenti hisses into the phone. “The point is, she’s in the hospital, and she’s asking for you- so you better get your ass down here and be here for her!”
“I-” Melissa glances up at the clock. She still has half an hour of her prep, and if she acts fast, she can pull together sub plans, arrange for coverage, and run out. “I’ll be there as soon as I sort everything out with my kids.”
“Please,” her mother whispers into the phone, and it breaks the teacher’s heart the way she can hear her mother falling apart inside.
“I’ll be there, Ma. Just give me a bit of time.”
As soon as Melissa hangs up with her mother, she’s dialing Ava.
“Melissa, what? I’m watching The Bachelor,” the principal answers the phone, clearly pissed at being interrupted.
“And I don’t give a shit,” the redhead retorts into the phone as she pulls up a document to start making her plan for the rest of the day. “I have to go. Family emergency. My kids are at music, I’m leaving plans on my desk, and I honestly don’t care if it goes well or not. I don’t even care who my sub is.”
At the note that she doesn’t care who her sub is, Ava is intrigued. “Girl, is everything okay?”
“No. My nonna is in the hospital for the first time in her life, my mom just called me in tears, and I have to go be there,” Melissa rushes out. “Please, just get me a sub.”
The desperate tone that the tough teacher uses sparks something within the principal, and she sits up a bit straighter and close out of the hulu tab she has open on her computer. “Go. I’ll handle it.”
“Thank you.” She hangs up after that, types at rapid speeds to finish her plans for the rest of the day, not even bothering to check it for any spelling or grammar errors, prints it, and runs out of her room.
Before she heads out, she does stop down to her work wife’s room. Barbara is in the middle of teaching though, and it makes the other veteran teacher raise a brow at her friend unexpectedly dropping by.
“Miss Schemmenti, how can I help you? I am in the middle of a lesson.”
“Just letting you know that I’m running. There’s ziti in the fridge, and it’s yours,” the redhead states. She knocks once on the doorframe before sprinting down the hall and out to her car before Barbara can get a word out.
She’s at the hospital and in the building far faster than her mother had expected.
“Melissa, dear,” the woman’s mother runs to her. “You got here fast.”
“When you call telling me to get to the hospital for Nonna, I run a few lights,” Melissa shrugs as she embraces her mother. “How is she?”
“As feisty as ever,” the teacher’s mother groans. “Claiming that she doesn’t need to be here, they’re treating her all wrong, and she’s threatening to leave while hooked up to all of their machines. I’m sure she could use seeing you right now to calm her down.”
“Where is she?”
Melissa is led back to the room, and she can hear her grandmother before she can see her.
“Dammit to hell, I am fine! Would you quit poking me?” she’s yelling at the abundance of nurses in her room and personal space.
“I’m sorry,” you tell her. Then you crack a small smile “The doctor orders. I just have the pleasure of doing his dirty work.”
“Nonna,” the redhead sighs as she makes her way into the room. “The nurse is doing her job. They have to check your vitals and blood oxygen levels to make sure that you’re okay.”
“I don’t even know why I’m here,” the matriarch of the family grumbles, but she does lighten up just a little with her favorite granddaughter in the room now. Then, Melissa crosses her way over to the bed and takes her Nonna’s hand in her own. “You’re damned mother dragged me here.”
“Because you were having a stroke,” the mother exasperates. “You were having a stroke, Ma. And I wasn’t about to let you die on my watch.”
“God couldn’t take me, even if he wanted to,” Nonna states. “He ain’t taking me off this earth until I see my Melly fall in love again.”
At that little comment from the woman in the hospital bed, you have to let out a soft chuckle. This woman really was something.
“What’s so funny, Miss…” the grandmother squints to read your name off of your badge. “Y/N?”
“Nothing, ma’am,” you bite back your laughter. “You’re a fiery one, you know that, right?”
“You ain’t the first one to call me that,” the woman tells you. “Hey, you’re pretty. What do you think of my granddaughter?”
“Nonna!” Melissa reprimands.
You do look up though, temporarily pausing what you’re doing. The woman now sitting by the bed is absolutely stunning. Her hair is beautiful, her green eyes sparkle in a way that you don’t think you’ve ever seen before, and her body is… wow.
And when Melissa sees your face for the first time, her jaw almost drops. You’re… you’re beautiful. If she didn’t know you were a nurse, she would think you were a model- you belong on a magazine cover in her opinion.
“Well?” the patient asks, rather impatiently.
You chuckle softly. “She’s a good granddaughter for getting here so quickly for you, Mrs. Schemmenti,” you tell her, and you do mean it.
“Yeah, yeah,” the woman waves you off, but that isn’t what she wants to hear. “What do you think of her though?”
Knowing you won’t get out of this one, you relent. “She’s very pretty.”
“You hear that, Annette?” the grandmother asks. “Y/N thinks our Melly is pretty! Melly, what do you think of Y/N?”
“Nonna, I ain’t-”
“What. Do. You. Think?” the woman grits out each of her words. “C’mon, just give me this one.”
“She’s very pretty, Nonna,” Melissa gives in to her Nonna’s pestering. “Now will you quit it?”
The grandmother just grins and shrugs. Then she winces as you begin to draw her blood.
“I know,” you say sympathetically. “But this is the last of the tests, ma’am, and then they do want to keep you for a few days to keep an eye on you.”
The grandmother sighs. “If you must. But enough of this ‘ma’am’ and ‘Mrs. Schemmenti’ shit. My name is Bea.”
“Okay, Bea,” you smile at her. “I’ll make a note of that.” If her sudden change in demeanor at the thought of staying in the hospital is odd to you, you don’t mention it. Neither do her family members- it’s abundantly clear that her being more open to the idea of staying is much easier than fighting her to stay.
“And don’t send in those other shit nurses,” she tells you. “If you’re around, I want you- the only woman here who isn’t trying to kill me, I swear.”
“Nobody is trying to kill you, Nonna,” Melissa rolls her eyes and shakes her head. “They are quite literally doing the opposite and keeping you alive.”
“I didn’t ask for that,” the grandmother huffs.
“You literally just told us that God can’t take you from this earth until I find love again!” Melissa groans. Then her eyes widen slightly at her realization. “Oh God, Ma! She’s gonna outlive us all!”
You just laugh as you quietly make your exit.
“She’s really pretty,” Nonna tells Melissa quietly.
“I see you’re feeling well enough to meddle in my love life,” the redhead notes.
“I already told you, I don’t know why I’m here,” the grandmother retorts. “It was just a little hiccup, and your mother freaked out over it.”
Annette puts her head in her hands. “Ma, you were slurring your words all over the place, and the doc already told you you had a mini stroke.”
“Eh, what do they know?” Nonna rolls her eyes. She turns her attention back to her granddaughter. “You should ask her out. She’ll be in my room a lot, and you and I both know you’ll be here for the next few days keeping your ol’ nonna company.
“Nonna, I’m not gonna ask the nurse out,” the teacher laughs. “She’s probably in a relationship as it is- nobody that pretty is single.”
“You is,” Nonna points out.
Those green eyes glare at her grandmother. “I am not nearly as pretty as she is.”
“Don’t sell yourself short there, Melly. Youse quite the looker, if I do say so myself.” Melissa took after her grandmother in the best possible ways.
The next time you come into the room, it’s to bring Bea her lunch, and Melissa is still sitting there.
“Ah, there’s the pretty woman,” the patient chuckles from her place in bed.
“Hi Bea,” you chuckle as you set her tray up for her. “I see you’re feeling better.”
“I was feeling fine when I first got checked in,” Bea laughs. “Now, what do you say you take a load off and sit with me while I eat since my granddaughter over here doesn’t much feel like talking to her old sickly grandmother?”
That gets the redhead to look up from the papers that she’s grading. “Nonna, are you sick, or aren’t ya? Make up your mind.”
“Quiet, you,” the woman in bed guffaws loudly. “I’ll be whatever the hell I want to be. Melly’s too busy grading her kids’ papers to talk to her dear old grandmother, and Annette is out takin’ a smoke break, so what do you say?”
You glance down at your watch. Your supervisor had given you a bit of time to handle Bea, knowing she was more difficult, but with her being so complacent at her request to have you come in more than the other nurses, you have the time. “I have about fifteen minutes,” you tell her with a smile as you sit down in one of the chairs there for visitors.
“That’s more than enough time for you to get to know Melly!” Bea grins.
“Nonna, I’m grading,” the redhead sighs as she bites the marker cap between her teeth.
“What do you teach?” you ask, clearly interested. You weren’t lying when you said that Bea’s granddaughter was very pretty, and if you have the time, maybe you should get to know her.
“Second and third,” the teacher huffs out as she marks an answer wrong on one of her student’s tests. “Down at Abbott.”
“Two grades?” you ask her, surprised. You had never heard of one teacher with two different grades at the elementary level.
“Budget wasn’t big enough to hire another teacher, and I’m the best second grade teacher there, so they gave me an extra ten third graders,” Melissa sighs.
“I’m sure you do a great job,” you assure her with a soft and warm smile.
Bea finds her way into the conversation. “Melly is the best teacher there is. It’s always a blast to go in as a mystery reader and watch her do her thing. The kids love her, and they should. She ain’t nearly as tough as she plays.”
“You ain’t nearly as tough as you play either, Nonna,” the granddaughter snorts as she sets aside her papers. “Where d’you think I learned all my tricks from?”
“Your mother,” Bea narrows her eyes, but they sparkle with mischief.
You chat with the two of them for the remainder of your fifteen minute break before you sigh and stand. “I have to get back to my rounds, but it was lovely to chat with you both.” You make sure to look at both of them, but your eyes do linger on the stunning woman sitting in the stuffy and uncomfortable chair next to the bed. “Call if you need anything.”
It’s a bit later that you’re called back into the Schemmenti room. Melissa is asleep in the chair, and Annette is conveniently out for another smoke break.
“What’s goin’ on, Bea?” you ask the patient. “Trying to cause more trouble for me?”
“Not this time,” she chuckles as her eyes stay glued to the soap opera on the television. “Just wondering if it would be possible to get another blanket, dear.”
You nod, head into the hall and grab another knit blanket before heading back in. You go to drape it over the elderly woman, but she shakes her head and points to the redhead.
“For her,” Bea instructs. “She’s freezing, as much as she won’t admit it. I’ve been watching her shiver through her entire nap.”
You shake your head and roll your eyes playfully, but you do gently set the blanket overtop of the sleeping woman.
When Melissa wakes, she’s warm. She remembers drifting off to sleep practically freezing as she pulled her Abbott Elementary sweatshirt as tightly to her body as she could.
“Good mornin’, sleepyhead,” Nonna chuckles.
“Where’d the blanket come from?” Melissa asks as she stretches just slightly, loving the way that her whole upper body cracks at the movement- it feels so good after being cramped in the chair for the day.
“I had Y/N bring it in for you,” the woman smiles. “Sweet girl. You should ask her out.”
“I ain’t lookin’ for any romance right now, Nonna,” the redhead rolls her eyes. “And ‘sides, I don’t even know if she’s gay.”
“She is,” the grandmother confirms. “We were chatting a bit earlier about her own love life when she came in to check my vitals.”
“How do you know?” Melissa raises a brow.
Nonna shrugs. “Mentioned something about an ex-girlfriend dumping her because she was always here… sounds like the perfect relationship for you- you workaholics seem to get along well, and you should know. You and Joe worked beautifully until he let himself go and wasn’t the driven man you thought you knew.”
“Don’t remind me of that time,” the granddaughter sighs.
“All I’m sayin’ is, you should ask her out,” Nonna grins and reaches a hand out. “She’s gorgeous, she’s a sweetheart, she has a good head on her shoulders… was telling me about how she works well with the little ones who come in and helps calm them down, so she’s good with kids. Everything you’re looking for.”
“I already told you, I ain’t lookin’,” Melissa rolls her eyes.
Nonna rolls her own green eyes. “You never want me to die,” she sighs dramatically.
The next few days, you spend quite a bit of time with the Schemmenti family because Bea practically refuses all of the other nurses on the clock. In that time, Melissa is almost always there. You find yourself looking forward to seeing her each day.
The day that Bea Schemmenti is discharged from the hospital, she pinches your cheeks and thanks you for your kindness and help over the last couple days- as much as she didn’t need it.
“Of course, Bea,” you chuckle as you shake her hand gently. “It’s been a pleasure getting to know you and your family.”
Melissa is holding onto the wheelchair to push her grandmother out of the facility when the older woman turns around and smacks the redhead’s arm. “Well?”
“Well what?”
“Don’t you got something you want to ask Y/N?” Been prompts.
The teacher sighs. “Do you want a free grandma?”
“That was not the question, and you know it- you pain in my ass!” Nonna smacks her granddaughter’s arm playfully as she’s wheeled out.
“Thanks for taking care of crazy lady,” Melissa calls over her shoulder.
Once Melissa gets her grandmother settled at home, Nonna sighs dramatically. “I thought you said you were going to ask her out!”
“I said I would think about it, Nonna.”
“And that to me, means that you were! Come on now Melly!”
“Well, you’re out of the hospital, so there’s no reason for me to go back there again,” the redhead tells her grandmother.
“I could have another stroke,” the older woman suggests with a mischievous glimmer in her eyes.
“That would be dramatic, even for you,” Melissa rolls her eyes.
Nonna shrugs. “Your reason to go back there could simply be to ask her out.”
“Will that really make you happy?” the redhead finally begins to crack. She grabs her keys and circles them around her finger a few times.
“I’ve been trying to get you to ask her out for the past three days!” Bea nods frantically. “C’mon now. Don’t make me wait any longer for grandkids!”
“Nobody said anything about grandkids, Nonna!” Melissa tells her grandmother as she makes her way out the door.
You’re just about to take your twenty minute break when you see familiar red hair standing at the desk.
“Hi, Melissa,” you smile at her warmly. “What’re you doin’ back here?”
The woman runs a hand through her gently curled hair. “Makin’ my nonna happy.”
“How so?”
Melissa runs a hand over her face. “God, I can’t believe I’m letting my grandmother pressure me into this, but… do you wanna go out with me for dinner one night? Or I can cook?”
Your eyes widen at her question. “What?”
“My nonna took a liking to you and has been trying to get me to ask you out for the last three days… I thought about it, and here I am. What do you say?”
“I have…” you look down at your watch. “seventeen minutes left of my break?”
Those green eyes sparkle. She takes your hand gently and leads you outside.
Those seventeen minutes are the best that you’ve had in quite some time. The timer on your phone goes off all too quickly, and you let out a disappointed huff as you stand from the curb just outside the hospital doors. You dust yourself off before extending a hand out to help her up from the low stoop. She takes it with a smile.
“I don’t know about you,” Melissa tells you as she squeezes your hand. “But I would love to see you again… the next time you have a night off.”
“I have off tomorrow if that’s not too soon,” you laugh softly. You pull your phone out of your scrubs before handing it over.
“I’ll pick you up at six,” the redhead winks as she starts to make her way back to her car.
You watch her go before heading back into the hallway with the bright lights and smell of disinfectant.
When Melissa comes home, Nonna looks at her knowingly. “So?”
“Shut it,” the redhead laughs as she makes her way into the kitchen to start on the next meal.

Hi darlll super love your stories!!!!! huhu even though its so short it's enough to keep me fed for a whole week HAHAHAHA.
That aside I kinda have another suggestion do take your time! Always take breaks, you don't have to write as soon as you see this🫶 (just tryna keep the schlatt community alive/j)
Anyways what about schlatt with either a preggy or reader with a newborn baby (like they just gave birth orrr it's a nephew? cause SCHLATT HANDLING KIDS IN HIS INTERN VID WAS SO SWEET AJSHSH) or maybeee baby accidentally shows themselves on screen with jambo and burnt soup following them (sorry if it's so long LMAO)
Ps. Holding rammy or something eehehehehe... Also genuinely don't know if I skipped your rules etc but yeah I hope this is comfortable for u to write 🫶
Dad Schlatt
sfw
new dad schlatt trying to take care of your daughter!
( a/n; COME BACK OF THE YEAR LET'S GOOO 🗣️🗣️🗣️ ill also post more later 👍🏻 )
jay sighs, watching you two, his treasure, fall asleep in bed, you facing your toddler, your baby girl, he looked at you with admiring eyes, he can't help but catch himself smiling
he can't believe your daughter will be 3 in a few weeks, he still remembers everything, “ jay- oh my god.. im so sorry for interrupting the r-recording… but i think.. i think she's coming out “ you burst into his room, recording an episode of chuckle sandwich, deep in pain as you hold tightly on your stomach
“ holy shit “ schlatt immediately rushes to you, not minding the recording anymore, “ my water broke “ you mumble at him as he caresses your cheek, “ okay, we'll be okay, let's go to the car “ he tries to reassure you, panicking himself, gently lifting you up, bridal style as he carefully rushes downstairs
during the ride to the hospital schlatt kept his hand with yours, holding you tightly as you tried to calm yourself, moaning in pain, “ im so sorry toots, it'll be okay, just take a deep breath, yeah? “ his thumb caressing your knuckles, stealing a peck
after you arrive the man patiently waited outside of the operation room, waiting for you to be okay and your little angel to be born, clenching his hands as he takes deep breaths, pacing back in forth, his anxiety rising up
and after hours of waiting schlatt immediately rushes in when he hears you've been admitted to a room, “ toots? toots? how are you? you alright? “ he approaches you, caressing your hair, you chuckling softly, “ im fine jay “ your hands intertwine, as you peck his knuckle
“ i wish you could've seen her… she's so pretty “ you whisper, a bit weak due to birthing just a few minutes ago, schlatt couldn't help but sigh in relief, “ yeah?, im guessing she took her mother's genes “ he smiles at you, endearingly, jay softly pecking your cheek
you could only giggle, as the nurse enters your room, “ how are you feeling darling? “ she gently asks, checking your vitals, before facing jay, “ you can watch your pretty princess on the nursery now “
“ baby, why don't you see her? “ you suggest, smiling softly, “ but toots, what about you? “ schlatt asks, wary to leave you even for just a minute, “ awh don't worry sweetie, i’ll look after her “ the nurse, with the nametag of sarah, smiles at him reassuringly
“ now shh go “ you gently pat his butt as he steals a quick forehead peck, “ alright… be careful yeah? “ he hums slowly leaving the room
as he walked towards the nursery, a small smile came to his face, seeing the newborn children inside, finding children, adorable, his eyes tries to look for your daughter, ‘ loreine schlatt ‘, his eyes sparkle in affection, seeing your baby laying in the crib, a pink bonnet on her hair, with a matching pink blanket
“ jesus fuck… im a dad now “ schlatt breathes out, leaning closer to the glass window, “ my pretty little girl “ he whispers staring at his daughter through the glass, his chest getting warmer every second
after a week, you're finally released from the hospital, and god, did anyone warn you how stressful it is to be parents?
schlatt decided to take a break from youtube, to finally focus on you two, he was amazing at it, managing to look out for his healing wife and his… crybaby of a daughter
as the two of you cuddle, schlatt hums, finding rest for a bit, watching your chest rise and fall, as you snore quietly, he chuckles softly, fixing your hair with his featherlight touch hoping not to wake you up
and that's was his rest, as loreine, yells and sobs, the man sighs, tiredly sitting up as he glances at his alarm, 3:45 am, he groans softly before approaching your daughter's room, already having a miniature fridge on her room to avoid rushing downstairs to make milk
“ you like interrupting daddy’s rest, no? “ jay baby talks your daughter as she wails, her tiny chubby hands wavering around as he gently lifts her up, cradling her, “ you got your mother's mouth, loud “ he jokes, gently grabbing her milk, guiding it to her mouth
humming a song as he moves back and forth slowly, hoping to calm her down, “ it's 3 in the morning and my tiny lady is bothering mee “ he said in a sing song way, gently caressing her cheek with his finger, “ i can't believe i made you “ he whispers, smiling
his baby talking slowly calms your daughter down, sucking the shit out of her milk as she cooes
“ i can't believe, one day, you'll grow up and have a boyfriend, then you're gonna leave daddy “ he playfully scolds your daughter, before noticing burnt soup and jambo entering the room, meowing, “ you guys are awake too? “ he asks, chuckling, “ she's a pretty loud sibling isn't she? “ he jokes
noticing loreine finally gone back to sleep, he gently puts her back down on the crib, switching the milk for a pacifier, as soup and jambo look at your daughter, as if guarding her, “ you two gonna be her guards now? “ he kneels down, gently petting jambo and soup, “ then you better take care of her alright? she's grow up and take care of you two too “ he smiles
before standing up, stretching, eyeing up a rammie plushie of his, the first of it's kind, before gently setting it next to his daughter, smiling as he watches loreine immediately hugs it

A Part of the Pack
Chapter 5
Content Warnings: Mentions of violence, reality adjacent Mimic, cavity inducing fluff
Price and Gaz had to practically drag Saint out of the med bay once Mimic had been admitted. Despite her having been completely lucid and seemingly unbothered. It was only because Mimic herself had firmly requested that Saint adhere to protocol that they allowed themself to be led back to the den.
Alphas weren’t supposed to be anywhere near an injured Omega. And that normally wouldn’t have been an issue for Saint. If they hadn’t watched Mimic get stabbed right before their eyes. The fact that Saint still reeked of blood that wasn’t there, in spite of the copious amounts of neutralizer that they’d been doused in, hadn’t really helped put the medics at ease with their initial refusal to leave.
It helped that Ghost had promised to stay by her side. Hell, it even helped that Nikolai had offered to stick around until she was cleared to leave medical. Two huge Omegas that bordered on Alphas watching over the scrappy little operative was enough for Saint to begrudgingly leave.
“She’ll be fine.” Gaz promises. “She was still making jokes the whole time. One little knife won’t be enough to take out our Mim.”
“And it’s going to be a running joke for the little menace for the rest of our lives.” Price grumbles, running a hand through his hair.
“Ye know she’s gonna want ta keep th’ knife.” Soap says, a shiteating grin splitting his face.
Saint huffs, comforted by the men’s words, but far from satisfied with the situation. The faint, coppery tang of the enemy soldier’s blood was still on the back of their tongue. It had been incredibly satisfying to see the ruined remains of the man on the ground before they had rushed Mimic to exfil.
A lot of the residual stress washed down the drain with the blood, sweat, and grime of the mission as Saint showered. When they returned to the den, their Omegas had made a nest. A comfortable pile of blankets, pillows, clothes… Anything they could find with even the barest hint of Mimic’s scent on it. All to comfort their incredibly stressed Alpha.
Saint’s neutralizers didn’t stand a chance against the stress they felt as they waited for word of Mimic’s condition. It got to the point where they couldn’t really leave the den for long periods of time. For fear of overwhelming the rest of the base.
Mimic, to her credit, is a good sport about the whole ordeal. Requesting only the bare minimum for painkillers, not wanting to be too doped up to appreciate her watchful company.
Nikolai stays right by her side as promised. Though the medics don’t appreciate how he keeps making her laugh as he regales her with tales of his escapades during her three year absence.
“She’s recovering from a punctured lung.” One very annoyed medic snaps, glaring at Nikolai. “You’re going to exacerbate her injuries if you keep making her laugh like that.”
“Nonsense!” The burly Russian says with a laugh. “She is made of sterner stuff than you think. She will let me know when I am too much.” The medic rolls her eyes, huffing in annoyance before they finish checking Mimic’s vitals and flit out of the room.
Ghost acts as a messenger of sorts. Moving between Mimic’s bedside and the den to keep the rest of the team up to date on her condition. The more good news he brings back, the more Saint starts to relax.
It’s a week before Mimic is finally released from the med bay. She’s given plenty of medical restrictions, including a very pointed remark about not laughing too hard. Not that the team intended on letting her do much of anything, anyway.
Including heading back to her isolated cabin.
“Doc said you’re not in any state to be travelling overseas.” Price says, his tone just stern enough to discourage argument. He crosses his arms as he stares down at Mimic. Who was trapped on the couch in Soap’s arms with Gaz resting his head in her lap.
“Why do you want to leave so soon, anyway?” Gaz asks, massaging Mimic’s hand as it rests on his chest. “Don’t you like being here? With us?”
“I do. Genuinely.” Mimic replies. She feels Soap nuzzle against her neck, making her shift slightly. “I’m just not comfortable being around everyone else on base. It’s… It’s kind of overwhelming after three years alone.”
“Ah, солнышко, but you are not meant for isolation.” Nikolai says, wrapping an arm around Price’s waist and pulling him close.
“Ye need a pack, m’eudail.” Soap murmurs against her neck. Saint perks up at his words, catching the attention of Price, Ghost, and Nikolai.
“That’s implying that there’s a pack that wants me…” Mimic grumbles in response, then yelping when both Gaz and Soap deliver a sharp nip to her pale skin.
“You have a pack that wants you, luv.” Ghost growls, the low rumble betraying his irritation and causing Mimic to give him a sheepish look.
Saint moves over to the couch, gently disentangling Mimic from Soap and Gaz. They hold her tightly to their chest, muzzle buried in her hair. Saint inhales deeply before grumbling out a single word. Enough to make Mimic’s heart melt.
“Stay.”

jjk oneshots: Just Relax (satoru x reader)
characters: satoru gojo x reader
warnings: fluff, comfort
an: doing gojo’s skincare to help him relax
SATORU GOJO
A sigh escapes Satoru’s mouth as he shuts the front door behind him. Walking stiffly to the kitchen he finds his girlfriend nursing a cup of coffee.
“I’m home,” he announces.
“Hey,” y/n smiles reassuringly at Satoru, a genuine expression of comfort. "You look stressed," she notes. But she's not judging him. Just observing.
Satoru looks back at her and nods, trying to control his breathing. There's something about her. Something about her presence that just makes him feel at ease. He doesn’t have to keep up the act around her. "I am."
"Why? What's stressing you out?" y/n asks. Her voice is soothing. Satoru can't explain it, but she just has this way of making him feel calm.
He shakes his head, trying to gather his thoughts. "It's...nothing. I'm fine." But he's not. And she can see right through him.
y/n says, “It’s the higher ups… isn’t it?”
Satoru is taken aback by how spot on she is. He nods cautiously, a glimmer of relief washing over him. "Yeah...that's exactly what it is." He sighs. "I don't know how much longer I can handle it before I snap. The pressure. The stress. The annoyance. They’re always scheming. It's constant. "
y/n frowns, wishing she could give those old geezers a piece of her mind. Deciding to change the subject, she puts her coffee cup down, grabs Satoru’s hand, and leads him to the bedroom.
Pointing to the bed she says, “Lay down.”
Raising an eyebrow at her with a cheeky smirk, he says, “Is this going where I think it’s going?”
“No.” She replies flatly, “Now lay down.”
"Fine." Satoru does as he's told, lying down on the bed and looking up at her with a look of mild amusement. He's not sure what she's up to, but he's curious.
Once he’s comfortable y/n walks to the bathroom and begins gathering her favorite products before walking back to the bed and settling herself down near Satoru’s head.
Satoru watches her with a puzzled expression on his face. "What are you doing, sugar?" he asks, his voice still dripping with that teasing edge from before.
"Shh," she replies. "Just trust me and try to relax."
She pushes his hair back with a silly headband, makes him close his eyes, and gets to work. Lathering face wash on his skin, wiping it with a wet towel, moving to moisturizer, and so on.
He lies back on the bed, letting her work her magic. His eyelids feel heavy, the soothing touch of her hands making him feel more relaxed than he has in a long time.
"I know you're stressed," she begins, her voice hushed and soft. "This is to help you relax. Try to clear your head. To help relieve some of the pressure you're under.”
“I know you’re the strongest,” she continues, “but there’s nothing wrong with having a little help or taking a break every once in a while…”
“You’re helping me.” Satoru interrupts, “right now. This is helping me. I don’t think you realize how vital moments like this are to me. Moments with you.”
Lily smiles playfully, booping his nose, “Shut up, this is about you right now. Stop being sappy and relax.”
He chuckles, appreciating her playfulness and the way it helps him to let down his guard.
As she continues her work, he takes a deep breath and starts to really let go of all the stress and tension that’s been weighing him down lately.
"I trust you," he says quietly as he exhales, eyes still closed and his breathing becoming even deeper and slower.
“I’d hope so, otherwise I don’t think this relationship would work very well,” she jokes.
"True." He smirks at that and he opens one eye slightly, just enough to glance down at her with a teasing expression on his face. "By the way, how much does this skin care routine cost?" He asks with a sly grin.
She returns his grin, “I don’t know… you should check your credit card records.”
He raises an eyebrow, a grin spreading across his face. "I'll be sure to do that later," he says. "And if I see it's ridiculously expensive? What then?"
“It wouldn’t matter,” she shrugs, “you’re rich anyways. Probably didn’t even leave a dent in your bank account.”
"Fair point," he says with another grin. "But for argument's sake, what if it did? What if I suddenly can't afford your lavish lifestyle? What would you do then?"
y/n snorts, “Oh I guess we would have to find a cardboard box big enough to fit the two of us and live on the street.”
Satoru chuckles softly, “That would be just tragic. The strongest sorcerer and his beautiful girlfriend living in a box,” he yawns, “You wouldn’t go find another dashingly handsome sorcerer to be with? What about Nanami? I heard his pockets are pretty deep.”
y/n laughs, “Definitely not. I think Nanami would slam the door in my face before I even got a word out.”
Satoru replies sleepily, “Nanami…. would never.”
“You’re right he wouldn’t. He associates me with you though so I’m not sure he’d let me stay for very long…” She trails off.
For a few moments it’s quiet until y/n breaks the silence, “Hey Satoru?”
He doesn’t respond and soft snores fill the room.
She giggles quietly, “… I love you.”
Satoru smiles at her words, even in his sleep.

Day 3: sick/injury
Masterlist flufftober 🎀
Reblog if you liked it!
“Where is Agent Y/L/N?” Spencer asked one of the police officers, trying to remain as calm as possible after hearing about the incident. The team had split up to cover more ground and, from what he had heard, you had been the unlucky one who had had to face the unsub, so you were probably bruised or even injured.
When the man pointed in a direction, the doctor could see you sitting on top of the ambulance, deliberately refusing the attention that the paramedic was trying to give you, so he immediately jogged to get to you.
“Oh! Thank goodness you're here, Reid. Tell this man I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about."
“Let me see you,” he murmured benevolently, as he leaned in your direction to hold your head with both hands and his eyes danced all over your face “Good night, did you check her vital signs?”
"I did it. Everything is fine, she is just a little shaken.”
“That wound on your forehead looks ugly,” he pointed out, when he turned your face to get a better look at it, completely ignoring your complaints. “I think it can be solved with steri-strips. Have you already disinfected the others?”
“I was trying to do it, but she won't let me,” the paramedic complained, as a teacher would do to the parent of a disordered child.
“Because I'm fine!”
“Oh, shut up,” he exclaimed, beginning to ask the health personnel for the appropriate healing materials since you refused to let them do it for you.
You huffed with resignation, because you believed that the doctor's presence there would save you from the routine processes and not that it would be the opposite. Spencer began to disinfect your wounds carefully and silently, feeling your attentive gaze on him until he finished.
“Did he hurt you more?”
“It only hurts on one side, the bastard kicked me,” you said without much importance, while you rubbed said area and his eyes opened wide.
“What if you have a broken rib? Let me see…"
“Reid,” you stopped him, because his hands had already gone, without a morbid intention, to the edge of your blouse to lift it “I appreciate your interest, but I'm fine, I would be crying from the pain if that weren't the case. I just have a few scratches and that's it. Calm down"
He felt guilty for being so insistent and wanted to be able to explain to you that he was only doing it because your well-being worried him tremendously, but instead he stayed silent and just nodded his head. His shy gesture touched you, so you reached out to pull his hand and pull him close to you.
“I'm sorry,” you added, while you hugged him from the side and he responded warmly. “It's just that you know I hate that you worry about me.”
“But I will always worry about you.”
“I know,” you laughed. “But save that concern for special occasions. Now I'm fine, you see?” You murmured as you raised your head in his direction, showing him all your teeth in an exaggerated smile. “Although I would feel better if you did something else.”
"What?" he asked with genuine interest, hoping he could be of help to you. You turned a face and pointed your thumb at your cheek, right next to where you had a bump that would probably turn into a purple mark. “Do you want some ointment there?”
“I want a kiss, Reid,” you laughed and when he opened his mouth in understanding, his cheeks also blushed “Only if you want.”
“Yes,” he responded kindly and then leaned over to you to place a chaste kiss that made you giggle. “Why does that make you feel better?”
“It just does,” you replied, shrugging your shoulders. Sometimes Spencer was too naive and didn't notice that you were madly in love with him.
“Well, I'll save this knowledge for future occasions,” he promised, putting on a tight-lipped smile that you had grown accustomed to.
And then every time you were hurt, he made sure to kiss you to speed up your recovery.

Nothing Like Greys Anatomy (Jeremiah x Conklin Reader)
TW: Hospitals, surgery
You hated being sick. That’s probably why you chose to ignore the loss of appetite, vomiting, and fever. The stomach pain was a little more severe than normal, but you had just started working out with Jeremiah, so you figured it was a combination of sore muscles and vomiting. You decided to pop a few ibuprofens and spend the day in bed with a book. It wasn’t long before Jeremiah knocked gently on your door. “Love, are you awake?”
“Yes Jere, you can come in.”
“Why is it that my beautiful girlfriend is hiding away from the world?” he asked, being dramatic.
“I’m not feeling the best.”
“Awe, babe,” he frowned. He took in your appearance, you looked flushed. “What’s wrong? Just feeling sicky?” he asked, placing a hand on your forehead, “You definitely feel warm.”
“My stomach hurts, I’m nauseous, I kept throwing up last night, and I’m pretty sure I have a fever cause I keep getting chills.”
“Why didn’t you wake me up? I could’ve taken care of you,” he asked with pouty eyes.
“Because I’m fine Jere, I took medicine about an hour ago, I’m just waiting for it to kick in.”
“Can I get you anything? Do you want to spend the day cuddling and watching movies?”
“That sounds nice, Jere.”
You went to stand up but the dull ache on the right side of your stomach suddenly felt like it exploded. Your vision was taken over with a blinding whiteness, you cried out in pain. You would have fallen to the floor if Jeremiah wasn’t there to catch you.
“Y/n? Talk to me. What’s wrong? What happened?” He asked frantically, but you were too busy crying out in pain to respond. He shifted his weight and hoisted you into his arms bridal style. Quickly carrying you downstairs, he was met by his mom who came hurrying round the corner.
“What happened? Is she okay?”
“I don’t know, she said she wasn’t feeling well and then when she went to stand up she almost fell over.”
“Get her in the car. I’ll call her mom.”
He carried you outside and got you situated in the backseat with your head on his lap.
“You’re okay, I’ve got you, everything is going to be okay,” he promised repeatedly.
After a few minutes the pain seemed to subside. Your breathing returned to normal.
“You okay princess?” Jeremiah asked.
“It hurts Jere.”
“What hurts?”
You held your right abdomen, “Here.”
“Sounds like appendicitis” Susannah chimed in.
You groaned.
When you got to the hospital Jeremiah ran in and grabbed you a wheelchair. When they were checking your vitals they were concerned that your heart rate was elevated and that you had a 102.4 fever. This apparently was on the edge to where they could not tell whether you appendix had burst or not. They took you straight back to a room. The Doctor came in and examined you, explaining that you definitely had appendicitis. They needed to get a CT to determine if it could be treated with antibiotics, if it needed to be surgically removed, or if it had ruptured. To say you were scared was an understatement. You’d never liked hospitals and being the patient was 10 times worse.
Jeremiah was by your side the whole time. He helped you change into your gown. He held your hand as a nurse put in an IV. He even convinced the nurse to let him go down to CT with you. They made him stand in the protected room and watch while they got you all situated. He could see that you were freaking out, so he took a chance and flipped on the mic.
“Y/n you’re doing great. Just close your eyes and pretend you are floating in the pool. The space donut is going to take its pictures and I’ll be here the whole time. I promise.”
You calmed down and the radiologist thanked his and got started.
A few minutes later, you were headed back to your room. Everyone was crammed in there. Jeremiah had to sit on the end of the bed, careful to avoid your wires.
“Wow, full house in here,” the Doctor said as he walked back in, “Unfortunately, it does look like we are going to have to remove your appendix. We will do laparoscopic surgery. You should be able to go home today or tomorrow. You’ll have pain meds and antibiotics to take. Take it easy for the next two weeks and then you should be good as new. Of course you’ll need to follow-up with a primary care doctor,” he explained.
Jeremiah squeezed your hand, a silent signal that you were okay.
Your mom followed the doctor out into the hall, no doubt bombarding him with questions.
It wasn’t long before they took you to pre-op. No family allowed. Everyone wished you luck and promised they’d be there when you got back. In the room alone you were starting to freak out about everything that could go wrong. After all you had watched Greys Anatomy, you were aware that even the simplest surgeries could have fatal complications. You were so in your head that you hadn’t heard the door open.
“How’s my beautiful girl?”
“Jeremiah? You’re not supposed to be here.”
“I used my charm on one of the nurses. We only have a few minutes.”
“I’m scared,” you admitted.
“It’s okay,” he promised, placing a kiss on your forehead.
“But what if it's not?”
“Then we will figure it out. Together. I promise.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too. I’m gonna sneak out, before I get caught,” he explained before kissing you.
-------------------
The next thing you remember was waking up.
“Hey there Sleeping Beauty.” Jeremiah said, standing up. “How are you feeling?”
“I feel great,” you answered, still loopy from the pain meds, “Has anyone ever told you you’re cute?”
Everyone laughed.
“Surgery went well, we should be going home today,” your mom informed you.
“You’re pretty, you know that?” you replied.
Again everyone laughed.
You well asleep again, the next time you woke up you were much more alert and oriented. This time only your mother and Jeremiah were in the room. The others had all been sent home by your mom. She would have tried to get Jeremiah to go with them, but she knew better.
"Hi there," you smiled.
"Hi there," Jeremiah answered.
"How'd it go?" you asked.
"They said once your up and walking that we can head home."
"That's good," you paused, "Did you come visit me right before or was that a dream?"
"That was real," he smiled.
"So when they say I need to be up and walking, what are we talking? Cause I'd walk a marathon to get out of this gown and back into my clothes," you joke.
Jeremiah and your mom help you to stand and you start to walk a bit. It definitely felt weird. Your mom got one of the nurses and soon enough the Doctor came back in with discharge instructions. Jere took great pleasure in wheeling you out to the car.
When you got home the whole gang had a movie night. Though you fell asleep not even a quarter of the way through the first movie. Jeremiah just held you in his arms, happy to have you home.

The Next Morning
..................................
The fluorescent lights in the emergency room buzzed softly overhead, casting a harsh glow over the sterile space. Sarah sat with her best friend, Emma, her arm wrapped tightly around her. They had been out drinking the night before, but something was wrong. Emma wasn’t just hungover; her skin was pale, and her body seemed to be shutting down. Sarah couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly off.
"I don’t feel right," Emma had whispered earlier, wincing from the pain in her head. "This isn’t a normal hangover."
Sarah’s heart raced as she explained to the triage nurse what had happened, pleading for her to take Emma seriously. "She’s really not feeling well. We were out drinking, but this isn’t normal. She can barely sit up, and she keeps saying her head is splitting."
The nurse, an older woman with a dismissive tone, didn’t even look up from the computer. "Sounds like a typical hangover to me," she muttered. "Fluids and rest will do the trick."
Sarah’s frustration boiled over, but before she could argue further, the nurse finally gestured for them to follow her into a treatment room. "Fine, let’s get her back and have a look. But honestly, it sounds like she overdid it."
Once they reached the room, the nurse handed Emma a pale blue hospital gown. "Change into this," she said as she began preparing an IV. Emma could barely stand, and Sarah had to help her get undressed and into the gown. Her movements were slow, almost robotic, as if her body was betraying her.
The nurse inserted the IV with a quick, "Just a little pinch," then attached sticky leads to Emma’s chest, monitoring her heart rate and oxygen levels. The soft beeping of the machines filled the room, and Sarah’s anxiety only deepened.
Emma groaned, her face twisted in pain. "My head… it feels like it’s going to explode."
The nurse, still indifferent, glanced at the monitors. "Her vitals are fine," she said dismissively. "I’ll start her on some oxygen, just in case." She placed a nasal cannula under Emma’s nose, the soft hiss of oxygen beginning to flow.
"I’ll be back in twenty minutes to check on her," the nurse added before leaving the room.
The minutes dragged on, and Sarah sat by Emma’s side, watching her friend struggle. Emma’s breathing had stabilized slightly, but her face was still pale, and she seemed disoriented, her hand never leaving her throbbing temple.
"Em, you feeling any better?" Sarah asked softly.
Emma’s eyes fluttered open briefly, her voice barely audible. "A little… breathing’s easier, but my head… it’s still pounding."
When the nurse returned, her expression was more serious. She glanced at the monitors, noting a slight decrease in Emma’s vitals. "Her heart rate’s down a bit, but nothing critical," the nurse said, though the worry had finally started to creep into her voice.
Just then, the door opened, and Dr. Warren stepped in, a tall man with graying hair at his temples. He introduced himself with a calm, steady tone, quickly assessing Emma’s condition. After listening to her heart and lungs, he asked a series of questions.
"Emma, can you tell me what happened last night? Anything unusual?"
Emma winced, struggling to focus. "I went to the bathroom at the bar. I felt dizzy, really dizzy, and then… I blacked out. I woke up on the floor."
"Do you think you hit your head?" Dr. Warren asked, his concern deepening.
"I don’t know," Emma whispered. "I didn’t feel anything at the time, but my head’s been killing me ever since."
Dr. Warren nodded, his expression unreadable. "I want to get a CT scan, just to rule out any head trauma. We’ll make sure nothing serious is going on."
The nurse quickly made arrangements, but just as she was about to wheel Emma out for the scan, an alarm rang through the ER. The PA system crackled, "Code Blue, Room 14. Code Blue." Another cardiac arrest.
As the team rushed to respond, Sarah watched in helpless horror as an elderly woman was wheeled past the room, a nurse straddling her on the gurney, performing aggressive chest compressions. The woman’s body jolted with each push, and the sound of the compressions echoed down the hall. Sarah’s heart pounded. The reality of the situation hit her hard—this was life or death.
Dr. Warren apologized as he and the nurse ran off to assist in the resuscitation. "We’ll get the CT done as soon as possible," he said, his face grim as he disappeared with the team.
Fifteen minutes later, the nurse returned. Emma’s vitals had decreased slightly. Sarah, still shaken from seeing the elderly woman, couldn’t help but ask, "What happened to her?"
The nurse sighed, her face softening. "She didn’t make it. By the time we got to her, there wasn’t much we could do. Her heart had stopped for too long."
Sarah’s stomach twisted as she processed the nurse’s words. She glanced at Emma, who was barely hanging on, her breathing shallow and her hand still pressed to her head. "We’re not giving up on your friend, though," the nurse added. "We’ll get her that CT scan soon."
Emma was finally taken to CT, and Sarah was left alone in the room, her mind racing. The minutes dragged on as she anxiously waited for her friend to return. But then, another alarm blared over the PA system, echoing through the halls.
Sarah froze, her blood turning to ice.
Before she could react, a team of doctors and nurses rushed past the door—Emma was on a gurney, being pushed frantically toward the trauma room. Sarah’s heart stopped as she saw the nurse straddling Emma, performing CPR.
"Emma!" Sarah screamed, bolting out of the room to follow them. Emma’s limp body jolted with each compression, her face pale and lifeless. The nurse pressed down hard on Emma’s chest, her entire body moving with each rapid thrust.
Sarah chased after them, her feet pounding the floor, but the team was too focused, too intent on saving Emma’s life to notice her. They reached the trauma room, the doors swinging open with a sense of finality as Emma was rushed inside.
Sarah stumbled to a stop just outside the trauma room, her breath catching in her throat as she stared at the chaotic scene unfolding before her. Doctors and nurses crowded around Emma’s bed, shouting orders as the nurse continued the relentless chest compressions. The defibrillator was charged, the paddles pressed to Emma’s chest.
"Clear!" the doctor shouted.
Emma’s body convulsed violently as the electrical shock surged through her. Sarah flinched, tears spilling down her face as she watched, helpless and terrified.
The nurse resumed CPR immediately, her hands pressing down hard on Emma’s chest, forcing her heart to pump. "Come on, Emma," Sarah whispered, her voice breaking. "Please… please don’t leave me."
"Push another round of epi," the doctor ordered, and a nurse quickly injected the medication into Emma’s IV.
The room was filled with urgency, but to Sarah, everything seemed to slow down. She watched in horror as the nurse continued chest compressions, her best friend’s body rocking under the pressure.
"Charging to 300," the nurse called out again, preparing for another shock.
"Clear!"
Emma’s body jerked once more, and Sarah’s heart broke as she watched, praying for any sign of life.
For a moment, the room held its breath. The monitor stayed flat, the steady, haunting tone of the flatline filling the air.
Sarah sank to her knees outside the trauma room, her body shaking uncontrollably. Tears streamed down her face as she whispered, "Please, Emma… don’t leave me."
The trauma room was tense, the air thick with the weight of time slipping away. The clock on the wall showed that over 20 minutes had passed since Emma had gone into cardiac arrest. Sarah stood at the foot of the bed, her legs weak and trembling, watching helplessly as the team continued their relentless efforts. Her heart pounded in her chest, the sound of the flatline and the desperate compressions blurring into a nightmare she couldn't escape.
Emma’s body continued to shake violently under the nurse’s compressions. With every push, her chest caved in, her ribs flexing unnaturally. Sarah’s eyes were drawn to Emma’s bare chest, her breasts swaying with each compression, then jolting upwards as the defibrillator shocked her lifeless body. It was like watching a machine, Emma’s body responding to the mechanical force of resuscitation but with no spark of life behind it.
"Push another round of epi," the doctor ordered, his voice now carrying a harder edge, determination cutting through the exhaustion. He leaned over Emma, checking the monitors, then motioned for the nurse to prepare another shock.
"Charging to 360," the nurse called out.
"Clear!"
Emma’s body arched off the bed as the shock hit, her chest lifting sharply, her head lolling to the side as the electricity surged through her. Her feet jumped, and Sarah winced, her stomach twisting at the sight. But when Emma collapsed back onto the bed, the flatline persisted, the monotone beep droning on.
A charge nurse, her face lined with exhaustion and experience, stepped forward, glancing at the clock. "We’re beyond 20 minutes now," she said softly, though her voice held a note of finality. "We’ve done everything we can."
Sarah felt her heart drop, her eyes widening in shock. "No…" she whispered under her breath, her hands shaking. This couldn’t be it. Not now.
But before anyone could say more, the doctor raised his hand sharply. His eyes were fierce, his jaw set in defiance. "No. We’re not stopping." He looked down at Emma’s body, frustration tightening his features. "We should have caught this earlier. If we had… she wouldn’t be here right now. We’re going to keep going."
The charge nurse hesitated, glancing between the doctor and Emma, then gave a small nod, stepping back.
The nurse resumed compressions, driving her palms into Emma’s chest with renewed intensity. Sarah watched as Emma’s body shook with each push, her breasts trembling with the force, her ribs straining under the relentless pressure. The team worked in silence, the grim reality of the situation hanging over them like a cloud, but no one was willing to give up just yet.
"Come on, Emma," the doctor muttered under his breath as he prepared the defibrillator again. "We’re not losing you."
Another shock was delivered. Emma’s body jolted, her torso lifting off the bed once more, only to fall back down in a lifeless heap. The flatline continued its haunting wail, and the nurse immediately resumed compressions, her hands pressing deep into Emma’s chest, causing her body to rock with each life-saving attempt.
Sarah’s breath hitched as she clutched the edge of the bed, her knuckles white. Every part of her wanted to scream, to demand that Emma wake up, but all she could do was watch as the team fought to bring her back.
At the thirty-minute mark, the room was filled with the sounds of relentless CPR, the rhythmic thuds of compressions, and the beeping monitors. The desperation in the air was palpable as Sarah stood, frozen at the foot of the bed, watching Emma’s lifeless body move mechanically under the force of each compression. Her best friend—so full of life just hours ago—was now a pale, still figure on the trauma bed, her body convulsing only with the shocks and the desperate attempts to keep her heart beating.
"Let’s get a cardiac ultrasound," the doctor ordered, his voice sharp with urgency but laced with a grim undertone. He was still refusing to give up, but even Sarah could see the fatigue in his eyes, the way his hands trembled slightly as he signaled for the nurse to bring the equipment. He had been pushing hard, refusing to stop, but there was a tension in the room now—an understanding that they were running out of time.
As the ultrasound machine was wheeled in, the compressions were momentarily paused. The nurse removed her hands from Emma’s chest, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, her body lay completely still. Her chest no longer rose and fell, her limbs were limp, and her face was slack. Sarah’s gaze drifted to Emma’s half-open eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling. They were lifeless, glassy, fixed in place, and dilated.
The doctor quickly applied the ultrasound probe to Emma’s chest, the cold gel smearing across her skin. The room fell into a tense silence, every eye watching the screen, hoping for a miracle—hoping to see something, anything, that would give them a reason to continue.
But the screen remained empty. There was no flicker of movement, no hint of cardiac activity. The dark, unmoving silhouette of Emma’s heart filled the screen, completely still, devoid of the pulsing that everyone had been praying for.
"She’s in asystole," the doctor said quietly, his voice flat, his eyes glued to the monitor as if willing it to change. He moved the probe around, checking again, hoping for some sign of life, but there was nothing.
Sarah’s breath caught in her throat, her knees buckling slightly as she held onto the bed rail for support. She had heard the word before—asystole, the absence of any electrical or mechanical activity in the heart. The flatline on the monitor had already told her, but seeing it confirmed with the ultrasound felt like a punch to the gut. Her friend was gone.
The charge nurse stepped forward, placing a gentle hand on the doctor’s shoulder. "Her pupils are fixed and dilated," she said softly, almost in a whisper. "There’s no response."
Sarah’s eyes filled with tears, her vision blurring as she watched Emma’s empty gaze stare upwards, unseeing. The pupils were wide, unmoving, a sure sign that her brain had stopped responding long ago.
The room went silent. The compressions ceased, the frantic energy dissipated, and all that remained was the cold, unrelenting truth. Emma was beyond saving.
The doctor stood up straight, removing the ultrasound probe and wiping his hands on his scrubs. He let out a long, slow breath, his shoulders slumping with defeat. "We’re calling it," he said quietly, turning to the team. "Time of death…"
But Sarah barely heard the rest. All she could focus on was Emma, lying so still, her body motionless after what felt like an eternity of fighting. The tears fell freely now, and Sarah collapsed against the bed, her hands clutching the sheet as she whispered, "Emma… no, please…"
The room began to empty, the trauma team stepping away one by one, their heads low, their faces grim. But Sarah remained, frozen in place, her world shattering around her as she realized the person she loved most in the world was gone.

au where atsushi gets hit w/ an ability and is in a coma and is fighting for his life
atsushi has a strong desire to live sure but also thinks that itd just be better (and that he deserves to) if he went and died in a ditch
becuz of this, so close to death, atsushi has little will to fight
mayhaps he's been feeling not good for a while but didnt realize how not good
anyway thats not important whats important is as per the ability he can still observe the world and the ppl he might leave as a ghost of sorts
he's floating around the hospital or following his friends, observing
he watches as kyouka cries holding his body's hand, begging him to fight, begging him to not leave and leave her alone - refusing to leave his side until someone has to take her away
he watches kenji try to pretend every things fine - reassuring anyone who'll listen that atsushi is strong - and talk to atsushi as if he's simply closing his eyes for a bit - seemingly in denial about everything
he watches junichiro alternate between trying to comfort everybody, trying to process everything and having fits of rage and hurt where he screams and yells and completely breaks down
he watches kunikida be there for anyone and everyone and try to continue as normally as he can but always being a little off - a little too slow, a little too tired - but still putting up a front until its just him and atsushi's body and he's apologizing for letting this happen begging atsushi to wake up
he watches dazai's face stay blank the entire time he's there only to drink more and more and get scarier and scarier - visit oda and ask the stone what to do - curse his own ability for not stopping the ability thats hurting atsushi - being too scared to go anywhere near atsushi in the fear that atsushi's regenerational abilities will stop working and he'll hurt even more
he watches ranpo put up a strong face - take on more cases - find the ability user quickly but be unable to find any other way for atsushi to get better other than just getting better - he knows theres no way but still he pushes it becuz there has to be but even the ability user breaks down in a session w/ him and dazai and admits there isnt but there has to be
he watches yosano try and heal him over and over - through her ability and her actual knowledge in being a doctor - watches her stay by his side through everything - there to fix any small inconvenience he may have like a too bright room or a non fluffy pillow, waiting, obsessively checking his vitals
he watches the president hold everyone together - keep the ada floating and offering support to anyone who wants it - watches his face grow more and more tired as he waits - as they all wait - watches him visit atsushi's body and give him updates on whats happening, waiting
he watches naomi fill his room with gifts, keeping a bright smile on her face whenever she enters only for it to drop the second she's far away enough so that when he wakes up he cant see it
watches the clerks take turns visiting him w/ gifts and encouragement, helping the president hold down the agency, while trying to be strong
watches lucy spill hot tea on her hands because she's worrying about him again - watches her get upset and angry when anyone so as much hints that atsushi won't get up - watches her talk to him and try to convince him to wake up
and atsushi grieves becuz of his own lack of understanding on how loved he has become
akutagawa doesn't falter when he learns about atsushi and atsushi kind of wishes he did - when he sees atsushi he doesn't blink or react, simply nods and leaves - and atsushi feels strange at having confirmation that he does not matter much to him - sometimes akutagawa visits - not always and never in a pattern - random and quick visits where he only watches atsushi for a moment before leaving - in the end, atsushi follows him becuz watching the ada and lucy gets too hard - he expects akutagawa to go about his day, atsushi in the back of his mind - maybe a little concern for him as his partner but nothing to fret about
atsushi spends his day with akutagawa wishing he could reach out and touch him and hold im as he watches one of the strongest people he knows give in to their grief and fall apart, with no agency members to see him, no friend there to see what akutagawa surely calls his weakness, only him, atsushi's ghost, and gin's hurried footsteps as she comes home
anyway
