𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬: When I read that synopsis, I was really excited and nervous especially because of Aurora's novella. I find that a little disturbing. My favourite novella was the one by 𝐆𝐮𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞. I have read some of her work so I knew what I could get. The angst was right and I think I would loved it if the novella was novel. 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗲'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 was also good because when someone knows their flaws and works on them, that is always encouraging no matter how annoying the angst gets. I would also have enjoyed a novel of this one especially to see how Freya gets along with the mother/therapist. 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮'𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸, I am no hater but that was foul because I can't even imagine or want to imagine myself kissing any of my brothers' girlfriend or even think to imagine myself to be in love with them, but I do understand the forbidden part of it all, hence why I was not really enjoying it.

You may remember Taylor from Stars Collide, she was Eden’s Head of Security. Having recently been taken off active duty for a back injury she is itching to get back in the field. So even though fake a relationship and moving in with her protectee is a little unusual she is more than up to the task. If she is immediately attracted to Natalie, so what? She’s a professional, it is only three months.

Even though Natalie is an award winning actress her world is viewed through a very small lens. She goes to work, comes home, mostly avoids going out in public, and never invites anyone into her home. Even though the romantic tension between Taylor and Natalie is front and center in the story, the slow healing of Natalie’s trauma and the safety she feels with Taylor’s presence makes the connection feel real.

I really enjoyed this book. FYI: it is a lot less thriller than you may guess from the first few chapters.

I have read Sheri's work before and I was really curious about this one. It was ok but I couldn't get into it really. The emotions were not that deep especially between the main characters, so I doubt that romance was the intention. The relation between the main characters and the guardian dogs didn't feel well explored as well. Now the bad guy, yes, he was something. The conviction he had for the dark crimes he committed was wild, like who grabs a priest? That was some unhinged stuff. ⁠
