My current favourite crackship that I just created myself is Hiyori×Alive!Kuina. Just because if she can't get Zoro she'll just go for his cousin instead.

Hiyori is easily one of my favorite characters and I love her SO much and people won't stop reducing her to her ship with Zoro. I think she doesn't need anybody and if she did want somebody it should be a girl. Because I say so. And Kuina is just,,, She would've been such a great character. Can't stop thinking about this fanart I found because it has changed my life for the better. She's in Wano to train to become the world's greatest swordsman and I'm just thinking about what if Kuina had been there to help them out too and she had been the one to save Hiyori all those times instead of Zoro.... Thinking thoughts. Like, of course, Hiyori and Zoro also have their moments because I do actually like their dynamic and I think she admires him a lot!! But you know. Kuina saves Hiyori a couple of times (when Zoro was going to do it, actually, she just appears like a second before him and ruins his moment) and Hiyori just melts. Because who wouldn't? Kuina would be so tall and strong and a sizeable woman, and I would personally die if she helped me save my country. Besides, I think they'd understand each other because both are women that have been reduced to that role specifically instead of their ambitions and their power and they're so much more. Hiyori was helpless when she had to see her country turn into this mess and she couldn't so anything else but to pretend,, Like-- If somebody knows how being a woman in the world works is Hiyori, and Kuina would understand. She'd admire Kuina so much for her abilities and her personality and ambitions!!!!!! And Kuina would absolutely love Hiyori's kindness and strength for being able to put up with so much!!!

Not to mention that Kuina would be taller than her,,, And bigger,,, And Hiyori would have to look up,, And this is now just the aesthetic part but God they'd look so different. That's Hiyori's guard dog. Wouldn't it be funny if Kuina were all serious and teasing with Zoro and like "*raises eyebrow* seriously?" type of masc girl, and the second Hiyori is around she turns into the happiest person in the world and extremely protective of her? Zoro judges her but he can't say shit because he's literally the same with Luffy (and Kuina teases him even more because she always has the upper hand and it makes him so angry). They're both down bad. Hiyori is just so nice to her and keeps saying she trusts her to become the world's greatest swordsman but even if she doesn't, she'll always have her heart and a place to stay in Wano. And I am weak, guys, I am so weak for lesbians.

Aghhh this is SO good. Somebody make them kiss. I- This is great. Oda could just say "ah yes Kuina actually escaped her hometown on her own and faked her death and traveled to Wano" and I'd believe him wholeheartedly because I want her back. I also want Hiyori back. I miss Wano sometimes a lot.

Also, Kuina sees Zoro with Enma and she goes:

Kuina: Oh cool, you got Hiyori's sword. Good luck with that one. Zoro: Do you want it or what? I am not giving it to you. You'll have to fight for it. Kuina: Nah, when I win our fight I want to win against the king of hell. Nothing less. Zoro: Where's the 'I can't win I'm a girl' bullshit now? Kuina: Stayed with the girl. Now I am a woman and I am going to beat your ass.

And Hiyori looking at them having the biggest lesbian moment in the world kicking her feet and blushing and Momo is next to her like "hehe you have a crush-" and he doesn't get to finish what he was saying because Hiyori hits him so fucking hard he faints. Don't tease her. Poor girl. She's in love, leave her alone.

#C4: Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko

Summary:

Throughout history, an elite group of shrine maidens known as "Toji" have saved the world from "Aratama," strange and malevolent beings bent on destroying humanity. In modern times, these warriors have been assigned to a special police squad to exterminate Aratama. The government has also set up five elite schools across the country to provide young girls the necessary sword fighting skills to eradicate these monsters and eventually join their fellow Toji in protecting the world.

A student of one of those five schools, Kanami Etou is chosen to represent Minoseki Academy in a sword fighting tournament, where she meets the mysterious Hiyori Juujou. Although Kanami and Hiyori rise to the top of the tournament, their battle takes an unexpected turn, throwing the world of the Toji into chaos. Likely that the Toji are facing betrayal from within, the two are forced to flee the tournament, clashing with former comrades on the way.

The depth of this show was seriously mindblowing to me. For much of the series it was just a fun romp, with some pretty interesting twists and turns along the way. But as these characters develop, as the plot gets moving, it all comes together in the end. I have not seen a more concentrated concoction of doomed tragic yuri in my life.

#C7: Wasteful Days of High School Girls (Joshikousei no Mudazukai)

Summary:

As she heads off to her entrance ceremony at Sainotama Girls' High School, Akane Kikuchi muses over her grade school dream of becoming a manga artist and the lack of progress that she has made. When she finally arrives at school, she is surprised to learn that she is once again in the same class as her two best friends: the deadpan and emotionless Shiori Saginomiya and the hyperactive and ridiculous Nozomu Tanaka. Tanaka then comes to the obvious realization that she can't achieve her grade school dream of being popular with the boys and getting a boyfriend by going to an all-girls high school.

In desperation, she begins asking the girls in her class to introduce her to their guy friends. Her classmates, however, are anything but ordinary. From a grandmother-loving loli to a reclusive chuunibyou to an overly analytical stalker, each one is given a fitting nickname by Tanaka to accentuate their weirdness. And so begin the wasteful days of these high school girls, each day kicked off with a simple question: "Hey, wanna hear something amazing?"

Wasteful Days of High School Girls is fast-paced and genre-savvy, subverting a lot of high school anime tropes in ways that are really delightful even if you yourself aren't that familiar with high school animes. But most of all it is cool in a way that only awkward, weird, realistic teenagers can be. It probably won't make you long for your own high school days (if they are in the past), but that is a good thing, because sometimes only a good comedy can really lay bare what life is really like when you're a teenager.

The thing that makes this show so amazing is the characters. These are anime characters with some real Character with a capital C. Everyone is such a real and unique human personality; not just the main trio but all their classmates too AND the teacher and even the nurse that only appears in like one episode!

This is a show with the lowest of stakes and it still manages to feel like something incredibly significant has happened when you get to the end of it. And something incredibly significant has happened! Life happened! An entire year of it!

speaking of your turn to die i need your turn to die mutuals you don't understand it's a need

so here are some your turn to die opinions and if you agree with them i'd love to be your homie! i promise i have lots of headcanons and goofy jokes and badly constructed essays.

spoilers for your turn to die up to 3-1b!

my top favorite characters of all time are reko, nao, kai, and jou! honorable mentions are kanna, gin, q-taro, sara, and shin!

i'm honestly not a massive fan of any of the floor masters or dolls in 3-1 purely because i feel like i didn't get the chance to know them well. it's a real shame too because i think they're super cool! just not quite fleshed out enough to my liking. i'm hoping we at least learn more about the floor masters in the finale because they have the potential to be so interesting!

i don't really like shipping in your turn to die, i kinda think it's unnecessary (though i don't hate on people who do ship!), but if i had to pick a ship i like, it would be reko x nao! i think it could be cute, and they have a lot of sweet moments in the game!

my favorite part of your turn to die to play is hands down 2-1. those attractions are so much fun! and all the mystery is insane, the part with the fake mishima ai was INSANEE. i also really liked 3-1 because of the part where you use the lantern to uncover people's memories about hiyori and asu-naro. it was so cool to get a glimpse of people's pasts!

to be honest i'm kind of a noob so i can never get it straight which route is logic is which is emotion (even though it's probably really obvious), but my favorite route is the one where kanna and reko live! i watched a playthrough of a route where shin lives but i didn't really like it as much, even though it was interesting to see that side of it!

this isn't really an opinion, just a confession, but i'm really dumb and really bad at the logic stuff so i lowkey thought it was impossible to save reko for the first like three years of playing the game...i figured it out though!

i've never once used a walkthrough to figure out your turn to die, i've always just used my own brain to figure things out. maybe...uh...maybe in hindsight, that's why it took me so long to figure out how to save reko...

the only character in the entire franchise that i genuinely dislike is keiji. i just think he's kinda creepy and off-putting (though that might be in part due to translation errors)? also i'm lesbian so i don't really find him hot i think he just looks like a muscly piece of popcorn.

in terms of my opinion on who the "mastermind" is i actually have literally no idea? the only idea i kind of have is that it's either sara or keiji because they're the only two who we don't get to see how they signed the asu-naro vow. but i also don't really get how it would be either of them because keiji was a victim of hiyori's tricks too, and sara just seems totally clueless. it makes my brain hurt to think about so i kinda choose not to.

i think the "gin is the mastermind" theory is mind-bogglingly stupid. sorry LMAO-

i think the theory of jou being the son of mr. policeman is actually super cool! i don't really know why it exists but i've seen people talking about it and i think that would be a cool connection.

i've read a few things about the referendum theory and i think it's a cool theory! it kinda make sense, though there are a few holes that i can't logic my way through quite yet. it seems very plausible though, and it would make for an interesting plot!

i don't think shin is overrated at all. he's a super interesting character and i love how he contributes to the story, and all the twists about him are so unique and exciting! i do hate when people water him down to like a soggy little man who's super weak and innocent, though. the coolest thing about him is his fortitude!

in case it wasn't obvious, i am on team "q-taro is the goat", especially after 3-1b. even after accidentally getting the ending where q-taro abandoned all of us i was like "okay but that was lowkey cunty af of him..." i've always been on homie q-taro's side and i also think it's hilarious that he's like supposed to be an american stereotype.

anyway that's all i can think of! i hope some of y'all wanna be friends!!

okay so i was referencing how Naomichi kuramada must have felt during a scene in your turn to die wherevhe saw the Ai version of Sou Hiyori (real name shin tsukimi) from your turn to die but i changed the gendered words. now im thinking about soft butch shin. you know what yeah shes a masc lesbian. anyway shes like that bc the other participants in the game killed off her sister like a few hours ago so now she wants revenge and is also pissed bc she has a 0.0% survival rate apparently. Meanwhile Naomichi has none of that context so all he knows is that this cyan bitch is full of rage and hatred for everyone except the 12 year old furry for some reason and everyone hates her ass too.

if it's ship hate i received, then, um... last week, i found someone saying they wished liphiyo shippers would die, several people say liphiyo shippers are homophobic, people go 'liphiyo shippers are delusional, how could you possibly read canon and seriously come away shipping that?', there was hate on tiktok that namedropped my twitter account, i got a warning in a honeyworks discord for violating ship hate rules by "talking about liphiyo so much that it made aiyuu fans uncomfortable," the admin and the mod of that server then insulted me on twitter, someone said to my face that me shipping liphiyo was gross, sometimes when i talk about shipping liphiyo, people say "i see hiyori as a compet lesbian" or "they're siblings" over what i'm saying, a friend pretended to be hacked just to insult liphiyo to my face and take her bad day out on me, and i got threatened with a call out post for harassing people i've never met because they said i was the one harrassing her...

looking back on it... that's a lot....

the classic "i hope ____ shippers die" its like tumblr is still stuck in 2010... and tiktok truly scares me, there's like several name-drop 'expose'/hate posts there several times a month in my country. As popular as you are though (i mean, you kinda carry the liphiyo ao3 tag your shoulders) its inevitable to get hate. I hope you're able to keep writing regardless!

i'm also sorry you were warned not to talk about your fav ship in discord for talking about it and that it was by aiyuu shippers too (i mean, thats what discord is FOR yk?) but its also important that we don't inadvertently make people uncomfortable, you know? I feel VERY uncomfortable with aimona (idek the ship name anymore, its basically Aizou and Mona, i just remember that i had it blocked way back) because it made me uncomfortable, but discord doesn't have a tag block so if it makes a group of people you'd like to co-exist with uncomfortable, they have a right to ask that it be done less. Ano Musume ni Kiss to Shirayuri o: Girl who just wants to be number one challenges the girl who is naturally the best at everything. Nice development, cute art, interesting characters. Soft and sweet and engaging. (long; ONGOING)

Aoi Hana: A manga about girls in school who navigate their desires and lives as they age and the people around them change. One of my favorite authors who has other series that are definitely worth the read. Has sexual content but not gratuitous if i remember correctly?? (52 chapters; COMPLETED)

Apocalypse: Special items in a video game bring a girl and her crush closer together. No actual concrete relationship starts but definite cute and soft feelings that I liked. (three chapters; COMPLETED)

*Asagao to Kase-san: Girl meets another girl whole watering the morning glories and falls in love. suffers a little from “but we’re both girls!” in the beginning but is pretty temporary. Has sexual content. (longer; ONGOING, but definitely has a good chunk of story finished)

*Bright and Cheery Amnesia: girl loses all her memories and wakes up in the hospital to her girlfriend. Though she’s shocked, it seems that spending three years together and being in love transcends any difficulties. SUPER CUTE. Has some sexual content but not graphic. *Chatting at the Amber Teahouse: A sweet and slow paced manga about a girl who works at a tea house and is in love with the owner. One of my absolute favorites for its atmosphere and pacing. (21 chapters counting extras and prologue; COMPLETED)

*Double House: Trans woman working at a bar and a girl who’s run away from her upper class family become neighbors. I really really like the art and atmosphere of this; it’s very lovely and softly engaging. (it’s by the same artist of pieta, my ultimate favorite) (3 chapters; COMPLETED)

*Ebisu-san and Hotei-san: When a woman transfers to her department, the main character feels antagonistic towards her aloof attitude and goes out of her way to make her feel unwelcome. This all changes when she receives insight into the other woman’s life and her feelings become very different. very cute and subtle with a sweet ending. ???????? (6 chapters plus extra; COMPLETED)

*Exciting Feelings (also Fluttering Feelings): girl becomes friends with a popular girl and they slowly develop feelings for eachother. (as of now i’m the translations they have not yet gotten together but the slow burn is realllll goood) (longer; ONGOING)

Girl Friends: A classmate approaches a girl who is generally alone in the class and invites her to join her friend group. They end up developing feelings for eachother. Pretty good, not my favorite but definitely worth the read when u can. (COMPLETED)

Hide in the Flowers - girls at a magic academy; cute but not story heavy (shorter; ONGOING)

Houro Musuko: About a trans girl who grows up and is both affected by and affects those around her. A little sensationalized imo but has such a great host of characters and that good soft art. Less romance more coming of age but is lesbian or at least girl loves a girl in the long term so .. Read It. Has sexual content but it’s conducive to character development so doesn’t count. (123 chapters; COMPLETED)

Irrational Us: About a lesbian office worker with a sort of off putting, twisted personality (as much as i hate to use that word lol). Super interesting main character. (10 chapters; ONGOING)

Kanojo to Camera no Kanojo no Kisetsu: Not completely sure why i like this one so much; the current translations don’t even have the main girls getting together, but i think it has an atmosphere that i really enjoy. It’s about a girl who feels bored and out of place with her usual friends until she speaks to a girl with a camera who she’s always admired and they become close friends. No sexual content (shorter; ONGOING)

Kuchibiru ni Suketa Orange: Beautiful and stylish girl transfers from tokyo and joins the plain friend group of another girl, who harbors a secret crush and longing for the girl from tokyo. Has sexual content and some sort of iffy motifs (like the main character imitating the girl she has a crush on that was kinda… off putting) (6 chapters; COMPLETED)

Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo: A series of cute one shots. By morinaga milk, who a lot of people LOVE, but doesn’t really make my favorite type of content. No sexual content (9 chapters; COMPLETED)

**Manga no Tsukurikata: A manga artist decides to date a girl she knows from work who has confessed to her in order to write yuri manga. Turns out the younger girl is also a manga artist, and one that she idolizes. Very sweet and slice of life & a relationship that develops slowly but sweetly into something very sincere. This has been one of my favorite series for a long time. (longer; COMPLETED)

Mars no Kiss: rebellious girl who has an older boyfriend and thinks of herself as emotionally and sexually more mature than those around her is seated near honors student and falls in love. does NOT end with mutual feelings, unfortunately, but DOES end on a happy note. has sexual content. (4 chapters; COMPLETED)

More Than Friends?: two girls work out their feelings for each other and experience lots of things together. Very very cute stuff!! currently (as of july 2017) on hiatus. (mid-length?; ONGOING)

* A Lapis Lazuli Blue Dream (also Azure Dream): An anthology with office women romance, high school sweethearts who have moved on to college, office women who chase the same girl (honey & mustard), a girl in love with a widow who she’s known since she was young (not wild about this one lol), a continuation of 20 year old girl x 30 year old maiden, a doujinshi author who meets one of her fans at her sister’s school festival (again kinda iffy about this one) has small amounts of sexual content. * Renai Joshika: Office ladies romance!! Has prequels and sequels to stuff in a lapis lazuli blue dream. Has sexual content. (9 chapters plus extras; ONGOING?)

My Girlfriend’s Ex-Boyfriend: While sleeping after having sex, the main character’s girlfriend speaks in her sleep and causes the main character to feel uneasy in their relationship and leads to her investigating her girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend and a few misunderstandings. Has sexual content. (longer; ONGOING)

Nanashi no Asterism: Three girls who become friends but end up in a love triangle amongst themselves. No real relationship ever occurs but i think i liked this one for the characters and their friendship and the communication between them. Has a sweet but not romantic ending. Octave: Former idol falls in love with a music composer. Not my favorite (a lot of focus on sex, girl cheats on her gf with a man at one point), but has some very good moments, well developed characters, and a heavier atmosphere that u might like if u can get thru the rest of it. I think the reason that it made my list despite its faults is because it’s actually long (which is so hard to find) and bc the relationship between the girls changes and develops a lot. Has a lot of sexual content. (36 chapters; COMPLETED)

*Omoi no Kakera: A lesbian school girl who works at a cafe navigates her life and identity while making friends and affecting the lives of other people in her own way. Has other stories that are connected to the main one in different ways that are also very interesting. (15 chapters ??? (too many extras to count lol); COMPLETED)

Partition: Girl who is obsessed with cute things seems to accidentally capture one of her coworker’s embarrassing moments. To get back at her, her coworker snaps a picture of them kissing for blackmail. After that, both of them gain a new awareness for eachother. Seems cute so far and the art is super lovely. **Pieta: About a girl with an abusive family who struggles with self harm and abandonment issues. She starts an odd sort of relationship with another girl, who also struggles with mental illness. They bond over this and other things and help eachother work through their issues. A little codependent imo but such a beautiful story with incredible contemplative aspects that had me in awe. Especially love bc their relationship is incredibly deep and emotional and only slightly romantic, with a happy ending and that at no point “but we’re both girls!” or homophobia of any sort plays a role is a great added bonus. No sexual content. ((warnings for suicide attempt, self harm, and familial abuse)) (11 chapters counting extras; COMPLETED)

*Plica: Lesbian woman navigates her (love) life after a close friend’s wedding and contemplates on hers and others sexualities. Really cute. Has sexual content. (132 SHORT chapters; COMPLETED)

*Poor Poor Lips: Poor girl comes to work at the power stones shop of a well off lesbian woman. Super super sweet and slow developing and definitely worth the read. Probably one of if not my favorite series on this list. ?????? (75 chapters; COMPLETED)

Pure Marionation: a robot girl going to school and making friends and navigating the life of a high school girl. The art style of this one is not… super choice, but has cute and original concepts that i enjoyed and let me mostly overlook those huge eyes and weirdly molded faces .. has some nudity and some slightly suggestive content but is overall not sexual. (18 chapters; COMPLETED)

*Renai Manga: An aspiring manga editor is in charge of the author whose work changed her life. However, she’s completely different from what she thought and, despite being a little dispirited due to that, she grows to respect and enjoy her personality and company. cute and lighthearted!! *Sasameki Koto: Girl in love with her lesbian best friend but unable to make a move bc her friend only likes “cute girls.” SO GOOD, very sweet, 100% recommend. great development, lots of sweet side characters, and overall a great manga. (53 chapters; COMPLETED)

Sayonara Folklore: At a girls school, there is a superstition that if you touch another girl on monday, you must recite a charm or else risk being cursed by two girls who committed a lovers suicide together. However, when a transfer student comes, she seems to disregard this and pull the main character along with her as they break the rules together. Cute art, great ending. There’s some “i’m in love with my sister!” stuff going on that is super misleading but that’s Not how it is. No sexual content. (9 chapters plus extras; COMPLETED)

Haha I'm sorry if I was a bit to intense on my post🤣💜 I guess one of the reasons why I'm so passionate about my dislike of Pudding is because I joined the OP fandom around the time of her villain reveal in the manga, and me and my friends/the whole OP fandom on Tumblr were absolutely vivid about it XD I still remember the countless evil!Pudding fanarts, theories about her possibly manipulating Big Mom with her Devil Fruit and being the secret puppeteer of the Yonko crew, not to mention that her character really seemed like the perfect opportunity to challenge Sanji's views on how women 'are always fragile with pure tears and need his protection'. Yooo I recall someone even started a post about a possible Pudding vs Sanji fight situation and we were all losing our shit about it although it was super unrealistic to happen, even back then XDDD One Piece was even trending because of the chapter, the picture of Sanji crying while failing to light his cigarette was everywhere we were all collectively losing our marbles auqbdbw

I still remember when me and my friend praised Oda in dm's for subverting our expectations, how he was being so self-aware and smart for deconstructing his arguably most overused trope to hit us with this intense and insanely well timed villain reveal- damn, it sure was something🤣

And then, when the wedding happened,,, it was like a cultural reset. Scratch noise and freeze frame. Ice Age 5: Collision Course. It was that moment when Patrick excitedly ran out of the store to have fun but Spongebob yelled "NO WAIT PATRICK!" and he completely froze in place, face filled with uncertainity of the future and regret.

Posts praising Oda for Pudding were deleted and replaced with memes about female characters being unable to be pretty + evil. The OP fandom was a soap opera and we were living the good life XD

You're definitely right tho, it's also a lesson learned- if you don't get your hopes up too much in the first place, you're less likely to end up so disappointed :'D

About Hiyori- I really hope her relationship with Zoro will just remain some "other characters think they're a thing when they're actually not" kinda joke??? Idk I felt seriously bad for mosshead in the anime OMG he looked so confused and uncomfortable whenever Hiyori threw herself at him aqudjwnw like girl give the guy some space please XD

Rip the anime truly turned Hiyori into a monstrosity :'D I don't remember most of her manga presence and how it differs from the anime tbh because the pacing was pretty different and unlike in the episodes Oda didn't spend eternities on a single scene... I still laugh when I think back to the sumo fight in the anime and how Luffy and that yokozuna guy spend a whole ass minute franctically waving their arms trying not to fall out of the ring pfff

Huhu and I love the headcanon of Hiyori being a lesbian, and Denjiro making sure she never has to deal with dudes being all grabby or disgusting towards her in private. Also would have been cool if he taught her to defend herself, especially considering the 'field' she's working in but oh well- It would be funny if she got to meet Hancock and Pudding and they all collectively come to the conclusion that they're actually gay and over-exagerrating their 'crushes' on the Monster Trio 'cause they don't know how to deal with people being real nice to them and immediately jump onto this weird 'omg guy is not a douche to me does this mean we're in love?!?!' train many lesbians experience before they realize that they don't like guys XD

Pudding's case is fascinating - because this is an example of a WELL written subplot, but Pudding's design doesn't match the given backstory AT ALL. Would it make sense for a young girl from abusive family who spent her whole life mocked by mother and siblings for her appearance and developing a complex because of it to turn sides because someone finally treated her like a human being and said something nice to her? Of course! (part 1)

Oh boy this is gonna be a bit long I'm sorry xD

I feel like I should preface this by saying that Pudding is one of my absolute least favorite characters in OP for many reasons, but since most of them don't have anything to do with the topic at hand I'll try to keep myself from straying too much :'D

But before I get to the issue with her design, I have to say this: although the premise of Pudding's subplot makes sense and fits in with the overall theme of domestic abuse present throughout WCI, the execution of her character is,,,, not really something I'd call very well-written, to be honest😅?

Her insecurities or inner hurt is not explored beyond the flashback/compliment, which was also not build up at all, there isn't another significant moment where she reflects more on how Sanji's treatment of her contrasts with what she previously faced, or even the many parallels between them and how they both stem from abusive households yet choose to deal with their inner pain in different ways is never explored.

I always thought it was kind of a waste that you have an arc supposedly centered around Sanji being the 'kindest', yet his kindness didn't really seem to inspire her to change her view on herself. Which, if I'll be honest, was what I was expecting after Pudding broke down- that she would get to have a genuine talk with Sanji, demonstrate her initial conflicted feelings at his comment because she was never complimented before, and go through some self-reflection and exploration by really looking at their stories of abuse and how that molded her into who she is now. But... naga. She is turned into somewhat of a joke and everything her character did before is pushed aside and not adressed again.

With the premise Oda set up there could have been done so much more with her, but in my eyes, Pudding is one of the most disappointing characters he has written post-TS and a good example of unused potential.

She had great potential as a villain too, and I won't lie, I was incredibly disappointed when she was revealed to be just another 'tragic' female character, but even then her 'redemption' or whatever it was that happened with her could have been handled so much better and just feels like a repetition of what we've already seen in this, and even previous arcs: aka, woman has man call out her problems/take care of her problems, she has a realization, her character development is done.

As far as princesses go her character breaks out of the mold a little, admittably, yet her struggles are barely explored, and given how much excitement there was for her to be an actually unexpected female villain after her betrayal of Luffy and Sanji, her suddenly breaking down crying and having that flashback felt incredibly flat and honestly,,,, kinda forced, after everything that happened? Also why did Oda first set up a vague connection between her and Lola, their shared desire of being free, but then,,,, completely switched to making her character all about being insecure about her physical appearance instead? Especially when we get Katakuri later and his position/struggles within the family are, imo, explored a lot more than Pudding's, even though she's had far more screentime and is arguably more important to BM's overall cause.

Eeeeeeeeehhh but I'm ranting again lol there is much to be said about her character, but on how that ties in with her design:

I completely agree on that, Pudding looking the way she does and being referred to as a 'monster' honestly felt like a fucking slap in the face xD I mean even some of her weird '100% human' siblings (Perospero, Opera, whatever the hell Kato is-) look more like monsters than she does. Also in her flashback Pudding was only shown to be bullied by her mother and citizens- (none of her siblings were shown to be involved, they generally seem to turn more of a blind eye when it comes to the abuse from their mother? Which is just as bad tho) but I kept wondering, "which citizen in their right mind would bully the daughter of a fucking Yonko, especially when there are so many other freaky things walking around in Tottoland xD?"

It's blowing my mind and honestly made her backstory even less believable.

The other examples you mentioned are all things I wholeheartedly agree with as well- hhhh Hancock's overplayed 'crush' on Luffy is still something that haunts me whenever it's brought up, the same goes for the unfortunate treatment of Tashigi rip

I absolutely think that Oda is partly influenced by editors, and of course when it comes to female characters, fanservice for future merch must play a big role as well- yet at the same time I can't help but wonder, when every women looks almost identical to the next one, are fans really gonna be that excited about new merch anymore...?

I mean look at this and tell me Robin and Hancock don't look the exact damn same-

My worst issue with how Oda writes women lately is that you can sometimes see what he's going for, what he could be doing, but he hardly carries through anymore and instead reverts to over-used tropes. I was really expecting Komurasaki to be this hardboiled samurai daughter who doesn't take shit from anyone and proudly stands her ground, but then he turned her around and gave us Hiyori, whose interactions with Zoro I can barely watch,,,, and let's not even talk about Toki,,,,

Kiku is like the only female character I care for in Wano so far.

Man I just wish we could have something like Otohime, Bellemere, or pre-TS Robin again :( Who were allowed to be actual characters-

Or a case like Connis, who was first introduced as a maiden-like character but then began questioning what was happening on Skypeia and ultimately had this badass bazooka moment while denouncing Enel hhhh---

I was thinking about Kuina more than average and I came up with this concuction.

So you often see that in many Modern AUs you have Perona and Zoro being Mihawk's adoptive children, and while I like this what if Kuina 2as also his adoptive daughter???

Imagine, you have Zoro being an orphan from a young age so he gets taken in by his relatives. But then something horrible happens (could be Kuina's mom dying or Koushiro kills her since everybody seems to agree he is murder coded) so Kuina and Zoro are taken away by CPS and are assigned to Mihawk, who had already adopted Perona. (I hc that Moria would be her bio dad, and he lost custidy due to his experiments on corpses and other stuff)

What we get is a sit-com like dinamic of middle aged single parent swordsman with 3 kids: one is goth, one is insane, one is bith and they are all gay.

I think that Kuina would really like Mihawk since he would teach her and not discriminate (as far as we know) and he would also reconize that Kuina is a better pupil than Zoro, which would add another layer to their rivarly and relationship.

Plus Perona and Kuina being vastly different older sister who are the two opposing extemes on the lesbian spectrum but still come togheter for each other when they need it and to annoy their dumb little brother would be so funny to me. I think Kuina would protect Perona from bullies and general pricks and they would both do wierd shit togheter like mutilate their Barbies to scare people.

I think Kuina would really get along with Zoro's friends siblings, obviously Ace and maybe also Sabo since they both reject the bigoted values that some people impose, but I think she would like Nojiko as well. The two of them both know the horrors of the real world so I think they would use some of the darkest humor ever with each other. And all of them would obviously keep talking about their siblings, that can't be avoided.

I also think Kuina might be Sanji's rival too. After all he treats women vastly different from men (even if its with benevolent intentions) and Kuina woukd interprete thus as Sanji thinking women are weak. So its Zoro and Kuina coming togheter against their shared rival: swirly eyebrowed dumb cook. But ironically Kuina would be fond of the dumb cook's boyfriend, after all Usopp is also a very underrated genious who defyes people's expectation to prove himself as strong and worthy.

Bonus headcanon: Yamace and Hiyoku double dates. Wlw and mlm solidariety at its finest.

AAAAAAA I love all of this. It's awesome. I just know Kuina and Perona would be complete opposites but would love and protect each other a lot. Like, they're weird in their own ways. People don't like Perona because she's all dark and creepy and with a very princess-like personality and people don't like Kuina much because she doesn't fall in the standard men have for women and swordsmen. So they fit together perfectly even though they're different. And they'd take care of Zoro and also make fun of him 24/7. This is great. Also, Mihawk be adopting children every fucking where. I don't know if I should be sorry for him or not. At least his family is cool. Perona is his princess <3 Kuina is his fav pupil!! And Zoro is Zoro. He's just Zoro.

And yes, Kuina would definitely not stand Sanji but love Usopp. I agree completely. Their views don't match at all but well, Sanji can live with it (he can't. He's crying).

AND YAMACE AND HIYOKU DOUBLE DATES!!!!!!!! CUTE!!!!!!!!! It'd be a bit chaotic, honestly. Both couples have such a different energy 😭😭 Ace might seem a bit more relaxed but the second Yamato goes insane about something, he probably does too if he likes it. So I can definitely imagine Kuina like "I wanted this to be an actual date,, I am sorry, I should've thought about this better-" and Hiyori would just laugh softly at Yamace's shenanigans because she's having the time of her life.

Yat///ori: Hiyori is 15 and Yato, despite being technically ageless due to being a god, is presented as a guy in his early twenties. Pedophilia plain and simple (there are a few other things wrong with it but you’d have better luck searching the anti-yat///ori tag for all of that)

Tama///haru: well first there’s the thing with Tamaki confusing his romantic feelings for Haruhi for seeing her as a daughter which is really gross and perpetuates the idea that familial feelings and romantic feelings are somehow similar and easily confused. There’s also Tamaki constantly harassing Haruhi or doing things that make her uncomfortable which she explicitly asks him to stop and he does not. She expresses constant annoyance with him and the way he treats her and by the end, she magically changes her mind and decides she likes it which is sexist bullshit. Their “feelings” for each other are horribly underdeveloped and forced, Tamaki first thought Haruhi was a boy but as soon as he realizes she’s a girl, he has an immediate crush on her. And whenever he fantasizes about the two of them being in love, he always sees Haruhi acting as the exact opposite of herself. He doesn’t love her for who she truly is, he likes the idea of turning her into someone she isn’t. And like I touched on earlier, Haruhi hardly shows much for Tamaki besides being annoyed with the way he forcibly coddles her which doesn’t really change until the very last minute of the story.

Izo///Ocha: I do actually like this ship, but I have a major problem with the way it’s canonically written since it reads as compulsive heterosexuality for both Izuku and Ochako. I mean someone else literally tells Ochako she has a crush on Izuku when she showed no previous notion of romantic feelings for him and now she thinks “Well he’s my close friend and I admire and care for him a lot so I must like him” which is a struggle many young lesbians go through. It’s kinda similar for Izuku as he has an immediate crush upon meeting her and doesn’t really express a lot of appreciation for her personality (in a romantic sense) and only really in moments like “Ochako is standing too close to me! I’m nervous”. Like I said, I don’t actually hate the ship and think it’s pretty cute but there’s no denying the canon elements that make it bad

Kat///aang: kinda like Izu//ocha, I do like the ship just fine but I strongly dislike the way it was written. It was cute and obvious that aang and katara meant a lot to each other, but the fact is that Katara really wasn’t ready for a relationship with Aang and confused and Aang continued to pressure her and even kissed her without her consent which was never addressed later on. There’s more stuff I’ve seen other people say but that’s my only real problem with it

Na///lu: well the main theme of Fairy Tail is supposed to be friendship so it kinda derails the entire message if the main boy and main girl end up dating. Aside from that, na///lu just isn’t well written. Not even in a way that can be somewhat excused like Izuocha or Kataang, it’s absolutely horrible. Natsu is goddamn awful to Lucy and I genuinely cannot believe that people somehow got the notion that he treats her like a princess. He constantly makes unwanted comments about her weight, breaks into her house, and gropes her (all of which is perceived as cute and humorous by the VERY YOUNG audience which sets the idea that it’s okay for boys to treat girls like that). And there’s really just nothing interesting about na//lu aside from that. All of their “moments” can be broken down into Natsu harassing Lucy as I described above, Natsu catching Lucy bc she’s falling out of the sky or something, or Natsu getting mad bc someone hurt Lucy. That’s literally it. Nothing else to their relationship. Basically every other ship for both characters is way more flushed out, developed, and believable than na///lu such as Natsu/Lisanna, Natsu/Erza, Natsu/Gray, Lucy/Juvia, Lucy/Loke, Lucy/Gray, Lucy/Cana, etc

Gr////uvia: ugh. Just ugh. What more is there to say than Juvia is an obsessive stalker who won’t take no for an answer. Gray constantly tells her that he doesn’t like her, her advances make him uncomfortable and are unwanted, and that she needs to leave him alone and she never fucking listens. She doesn’t even have a personality outside of crushing on Gray, everything Juvia does relates back to Gray in some way. She loses a fight bc she was distracted by Gray, she wins a fight bc she’s fighting for Gray, she argues with someone bc she thinks they’re her “love rivals” for Gray, etc etc. The writing is so horrible and perpetuates the idea that abuse is okay so long as it comes from a woman to a man and that’s obviously disgusting

Todo////Momo: the phrasing of this is gonna get so bad and hard to follow but as the baseline I just wanna say that this ship is so fucking boring. There is no chemistry, no development, no growth, no anything. Their “relationship” hardly exists and what little their is isn’t really all that significant. Their only real interaction was Momo losing her confidence in herself and then Aizawa has to get Todoroki to realize that Momo is upset and that he needs to work with and listen to her. Just at the surface level, it’s kinda a whatever thing. The problem happens when people start to misinterpret what really happened in this moment. The idea is that Todoroki and Momo share an important bond bc he helped her regain her confidence. And that’s somewhat true but not really. It was Aizawa who noticed what was wrong with Momo and what she needed to hear to help her. It was Aizawa who recognized her strength and knew all she needed was confirmation from her peers. Todoroki hadnt noticed any of that and he definitely wouldn’t have known what to do about it, Aizawa told him (and please please please I’m begging, don’t misinterpret this into Aizawa x Momo that’s nasty as well). So really, this “understanding” Todoroki and Momo have of each other is completely fan made, especially since their relationship never grows outside of this. Following their exam, we hardly ever see them interact in any significant manner. Especially in comparison to their mlm and wlw ships such as TodoMido, TodoIida, MomoJirou, and MomoKendou. TodoMido is obvious, Izuku changed Todoroki’s entire life and continues to inspire him, Todoroki is often shown worrying about Izuku and finding comfort in a friendship he’s never really had before. For TodoIida, we have the moment of Todoroki dissociating and Iida being the only person to notice and ask what’s wrong as well as Todoroki inspiring him to make the right choice in their fight with Stain. MomoJirou is also an obvious one, they’re best friends and always together. Jirou literally punched Sero for accidentally hurting Momo’s feelings and acts kinda shy around her which she doesn’t do with other people. MomoKendou interned together and also had their friendly rivalry going for them. The fact that people are willing to completely overlook all of these well written mlm and wlw ships in favor of a straight ship with no development at all is very telling of their heteronormative mindsets.

So yeah, those are generally the kinds of ships I like to stay away from. Like you said, you’re young (I am too) so it’s easy to fall into these mindsets. The truth just is that we’re all super impressionable to the media and it’s hard to identify when certain things are bad when they’re presented as being good. The only advice I can really give is to just really think about and analyze the ships that you get into and their fandoms. Or if you ever get a bad feeling about a ship, just check the anti tag to see what other people have to say if you’re ever in a situation where you know something rubs you the wrong way but you can’t put it into words. That’s generally what I do.
