French public broadcaster France 24 has live English-language covered of the second round of the snap election for National Assembly.
The far right RN (National Rally - in English) is being opposed by a loose coalition of centrist and leftist parties.
The RN needs 289 seats for a majority.
EDIT: France 24 abruptly ended coverage on the previous YouTube link and continued it on the revised link above. zut alors!
But bien joué to the voters of France for apparently rejecting neo-Nazis!

Éric Ciotti, the leader of France’s mainstream rightwing party, Les Républicains, has vowed he will stay in his job despite key members of his party voting unanimously to oust him over his proposed alliance with the far right. Ciotti was believed to have been holed up in his office on Wednesday after locking members out of his party’s Paris headquarters amid a mass revolt over his call for an alliance with Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally. The extraordinary scenes outside the locked offices echoed the disarray that has gripped French politics since Emmanuel Macron called a snap election on Sunday to try to counter the rise of the far right. Senior figures from Les Républicains arrived at the party headquarters on Wednesday, where they had planned to hold a meeting to oust Ciotti, saying his announcement on Tuesday of an alliance with Le Pen was a betrayal of their values. However, they found the building locked. Ciotti posted on X that he had closed the doors “after receiving threats” and that he had to “guarantee staff safety”. “What’s more, there has never been any meeting planned at the HQ this afternoon,” he wrote. Aurélien Pradié, a senior member of the party, told TV crews outside the closed door: “We live in a democracy. People that shut themselves in their office and say ‘I’m never coming out’ – that’s not possible.” Pradié said Ciotti “was no longer president [of the party] from the second he made this insane decision”, referring to the proposed alliance with the National Rally. “We’ll remove him from the office of the heirs of General de Gaulle if we have to,” Pradié said, adding: “We are not in the normal world here, it’s just not possible. There are French people working so hard, who every day hope to believe in democracy and they see this spectacle of crazy people. Enough is enough.”

Outgoing agriculture minister Marc Fesneau and the outgoing delegate-minister for European affairs Jean-Noël Barrot have both expressed their concern over right-wing ideas infiltrating the new government that is currently being put together by newly appointed Prime Minister Michel Barnier. The two, both members of the centrist MoDem party, an ally of Macron’s Ensemble party (Renew Europe),  expressed their concerns in interviews published on Sunday, with Fesneau’s published in La Tribune Dimanche and Barrot’s in Le Journal du Dimanche. “At the National Assembly, even with the votes from the Rassemblement National, there is no majority to pass the removal of [the State Medical Assistance, providing healthcare for migrants, Editor’s Note], as requested by [Barnier’s party] Les Républicans,” stated Fesneau to La Tribune Dimanche. There is, hence, no point whatsoever for the next government to adopt a tougher stance on migration, said Fesneau, calling it to rather focus on implementing new laws, including 2024’s French immigration law and EU’s Asylum and Migration pact. “When one only has 47 MPs, one cannot impose its policy,” said Fesneau, referring to the number of MPs of right-wing Les Républicains.

That's what you get when you try to keep the Left out of government, undemocratically. It's broadly what happened in the Netherlands, although it was more democratic there.

Euh ce nouveau gouvernement… 🤢
On s’y attendait non
"Mais comment faire pour faire tomber un tel gouvernement ??!!"
Gouvernement digne de la combinaison Barnier / Macron, et reflet très fidèle de la coalition qui s'est formée entre les macronistes et la droite (particulièrement la droite conservatrice incarnée par Barnier). On comprend pourquoi Barnier était un choix qui convenait à l'extrême-droite. Manque plus qu'un ministère de l'immigration pour voir ce que Le Pen / Bardella 2027 pourrait donner.
