The Redemption of Slash

Seriously, can I take up 33 seconds of your time to share how in love I am with this? Slash was influenced by Raph's constant frustrations with Leo back then, and his mutagen fueled mind was so satisfied when he sent the kid flying across the roof of the building. He wasn't just telling Raph to join him because he was his long time companion and confidant, but because he also used to believe a lot of the things Raph said about his brothers, one of which being that Leo did a terrible job of leading.

By the next season though, he amazingly pulls a complete 180.

I know he technically redeemed himself in Newtralized!, but it wasn't until Battle for New York that he finally tried to make things right with the entire team, and of course Leo isn't so willing to put any faith in him or his abilities (he's such a hypocrite btw, he tried to argue with Slash over Pete being used as bait like Mikey isn't right there lol, tbf Mikey's hardly sent in as bait by this point of the series anymore, but still). They expectedly go back and forth quite a bit for a majority of the first part, wherein Leo is repeatedly doubtful of Slash's leadership and causes the snapper to become frustrated with the treatment he receives. Raph even steps in on one occasion to defuse the situation.

Leo's mind eventually changed near the end of the episode though when he watched Slash defend Pete from a laser blast, and he realizes Slash doesn't truly view Pete as the meat shield of the team. He expresses how impressed he was by the result of Slash's leadership skills, and Slash brightens up over the compliment before proudly responding that he's changed from the turtle that bruised up him and his brothers nearly a year ago (this hits even harder when remembering that he starts to believe Leo's words of doubt for a minute after the Kraang captures them later on).

And the cherry on top of all of this? When both teams reunite after bringing all of the humans back to New York, Leo comes around to rightfully apologize for the way he's been treating Slash, even going so far to refute his earlier words by saying he deserved a second chance after all. And Slash tells him to his face that he was his role model, this is peak cinema fr-

I never considered Leo/Cassandra as a ship before I read your comic and now you've got me squeeing over them so hard I accidentally inhaled a clump of my own hair (it's okay I survived). I joined canon specifically to read it and finished the entire thing in one day. I'm obsessed, I love them, I adore them, and it's all your fault!! Your comic is wonderful!! I love that they accidentally keep matching outfits!! I love that Leo keeps having goo goo eyes and that Casey keeps blushing!! I love Megan (I was so worried when you introduced her that there was going to be a massive jealousy arc and I love that's you didn't do that thank you so much)!! I love the fact that Casey always wanted to ice skate and that Leo is encouraging her!!! I love Leo's insecurities about them and that Casey ended up taking the big step talking about their next kiss!!! I love all of it, and it's wonderful!!! I love them so much now!!!

I'm really glad you like my comic, I try really hard in working on it. And I love the process and the characters themselves.

Febuwhump Day 13: "I Don’t Trust Anyone Else"

“Shell, you’re bleedin’ too fast! What’s the plan, Leo? Leo!” Raph’s hands tightened against his weeping thigh, a deep thrum of pain dragging him back to awareness. “C’mon, Fearless, talk to me!”

“My…sword,” he slurred at last, head lolling toward the blade and the flaming ruins of the nearby building. “The fire…The h-heat.”

“Wha—Cauterize it? Are ya crazy?! That’s Donnie’s job, that’s—!”

“…Don’s not here.”

“What if I do it wrong?! I don’t wanna hurt you!”

“M’already hurt. And you’re the…only one strong enough to hold me down. I t-trust you…No one I trust more.”

I think Mutant Mayhem is the first tmnt propriety to make Leo my favorite turtle right off the bat.

Not that I don’t like Leo anywhere else, but usually it takes me like a second rewatch or something to really pick apart Leo’s character in full to appreciate him- and even then he’s usually not my favorite.

But MM Leo is my favorite for reasons I cannot identify.

Maybe it’s the way he walks, his cringe fail personality, I don’t know but I care about this loser so much.

Idk he cares so much abt his siblings despite the fact that they can be so mean to him sometimes. He is also the one who continually pushes to do the right thing when theres nothing (or even sometimes worst things) to gain from it.

Even his attempts at being cool come off as dorkish but it’s charming in a way only little kids can be. In a ‘you’re doing your best sweetie’. Leo is a single mother of three while also being a teenage boy, that takes work.

He’s such a silent but calculating character, ironically when he doesn’t try so hard and does what he feels is right he gets the best results (ie his leader speech, the plan to be accepted, gaining the acceptance of other mutants) for all his fumbling and try hard attitude he has such natural potential it’s insane.

OBSESSING over Kekkai Sensen again like it’s 2015 and I just found the show all over again

I am OBSESSED with Klaus and Leo’s relationship because it is fundamentally a man who is as intimidating as possible and a man who is as unintimidating as possible forming a bond of trust that begins with the very first meeting and only strengthens over time. Leonardo is the tiniest little guy and Klaus is so big and when you put the pair of them right beside each other, it is the funniest visual contrast.

And they both have the primary colour of red, the colour of passion and pain and suffering and obsession because they are both passionate and pained and suffering and obsessed and they fit together so well, with Leonardo seeing exactly what Klaus needs, they are a functionally perfect duo.

And they trust each other so much, SO MUCH. Leo trusts Klaus more than anyone else in the office (he SAYS SO in the manga) and Klaus trusts what Leo says without a second thought (partially because he is just that type of guy) and Leo is constantly and consistently thinking about making Klaus proud of him and Klaus’ words are what give him the courage to keep moving forward and Klaus gets questioned on hiring Leo so many times but always says it’s Very Necessary and-

The mach monkey is so fucking cute I can barely even stand it. He has a little face and those big old eyes and he is the cutest little fucker ever drawn and I just want to cuddle and snuggle him for forever because Leo could have killed him and chose to look beneath the surface level of the situation and saved him and he is just a little itty bitty monkey who is perfect in every way and I love him with my whole heart and then some because how did someone draw such a perfect creature-
