Leonard McCoy Valentine's Event: Day One

Valentine's Day

Leonard's barely stepped into his quarters when his eyes are assaulted by gaudy visions of pink and red, his walls are covered in paper-hearts, streamers and terrifying plants that can only be the work of the botany lab. For brief moment he worries that he's been transported into an alternate universe, where everything is bright red instead of sleek grey but then Spock is strolling out of his small kitchen, holding a cake that looks more like a crime scene than a declaration of love.

“I was told this was the traditional manner in which to celebrate.”

Leonard just grins.

Alright, my first fill for @leonardmccoyevents's Leonard McCoy Valentine's 2025 is UP. For the prompt "Mutual Pining", here's water all around (never learn how to swim now). Featuring teen!Spock making a fool of himself, baby Vulcans who really like doing Rubik's Cubes, and Sarek highkey being a shipper.

A very silly 400 words long ficlet for @leonardmccoyevents. A scene with this line just hasn't left my mind ever since I saw the prompts the first time, and this morning, my brain just decided to write it.

rated T. first meeting. flirting. pre-canon. I didn't have a specific year in mind while writing it. It's me, so there's some McCoy angst too. Very light.

“Does that line ever work?” McCoy asked the man who had just sent a young woman away giggling.

The man turned to him. He had very nice green-brown eyes. “You’re talking to me, aren’t you?”

“I’m not her.”

The man ran his eyes up and down McCoy’s body. “Maybe tonight I’m more in the mood for someone”—he met McCoy’s eyes, and McCoy felt something pleasant in his stomach—“like yourself.”

McCoy swallowed. The music playing on the floor below theirs was loud, and its beats thudded synchronously with his heart.

“Does this line ever work?”

“You tell me.”

Leonard McCoy Valentine's Event Day 4: Rose Petals

“He loves me.” Jim sing songs as he plucks a petal off a rose, it drifts to the floor of their quarters. 

Leonard rolls his eyes, how Jim got a rose in the middle of space, he doesn't know.

"He loves me not." He flicks that petal away.

"He loves me. He loves me not."

It goes on, Jim picking, plucking, pulling the rose bare of its petals until there's only two left.

"He loves me not."

Jim grins at him.

"He loves me."

"Don't need a rose to tell you that." Leonard says before pressing his lips to Jim's.

It's the 16th in my time zone, so Day 3 of @leonardmccoyevents's McCoy Valentine's 2025 is up now! For the prompt "Does that line ever work?", here's the second chapter of it starts with "oh shit" (and it ends with "i'm sorry"). The Spones Divorce Era continues through Season 3! McCoy works on his tele-phobia! Spock works on his heartrate! T'Pring shows up just because she likes the gossip! It's angst with a happy ending all around here, folks.

Leonard McCoy Valentine's Event Day 3: Only One Bed

Leonard sometimes wonders if the universe just plain hates him. It sure feels like it as he’s shoved into a giant room, which is decorated with lush, decadent furniture and with a ceiling so high he feels swallowed up by it but all he can focus on is the lone bed in the centre. He spares a glance at Spock, who's just standing there, no help as usual.

"A gift!" Their kidnapper's cry as they lock the door behind them.

He looks at Spock, then the bed and lets out a sigh, it's going to be a very long night.

Leonard McCoy Valentine's Event Day 2: Love Letters

Leonard’s desk is a mess of unread PADDs, old fashion books, data cards and other bits and pieces, which is why he almost misses the cream paper, folded and sealed with an old fashioned red wax stamp. Leonard knows that there aren’t many who would go to such lengths and who also have a soft spot for the vintage feel of ink and paper. He sees no reason to hide the soft smile that twitches at the corner of his lips as he breaks the seal. Jim, he thinks as he reads the surprising neat penmanship, what an old romantic.
