29 with Mikey and Leo please!
29. “Tell me where it hurts, and be specific.”
x
It really was his own fault. If Mikey didn’t want to be babied, he shouldn’t have broken his wrist.
He was mostly just annoyed it happened in such a boring way, catching himself wrong falling off his skateboard.
Yes he’d decided to sneak off and find a sewer tunnel to attempt the full pipe loop a full two weeks before Draxum said the gross mystic mandrake tea would finish running its course, but he felt fine! His hands barely shook anymore, only when he overworked himself or let himself get too tired or too excited.
But from the look on everyone’s faces when he slunk home ungraciously dragging his board behind him, you’d think he was at death’s door.
What was worse, Donnie wheeled him by the shoulders into the infirmary and deposited him right in front of Leonardo, the only person Mikey couldn’t out-stubborn, whose affable smile faded at once into that serious look that made all of his siblings straighten their spines and pay attention.
If the skateboarding accident had happened pre-almost-apocalypse, Dr. Leo would have probably led with a joke instead of, “Tell me where it hurts, and be specific.”
Mikey resigned himself to a ridiculous amount of mother-henning for the duration his arm was stuck in its short cast. His brothers took his newly fragile hands so personally, like they were the ones who couldn’t hold an inking pen or color inside the lines or even cook a meal more complicated than lasagna without having to give up in the middle and have someone else take over. Like they were the ones who woke up shaking in the middle of the night from some distant, half-forgotten dream of disappearing into fragments of light, arms radiating pain like it was their job, a confused jumble of grief and fear and farewell on his tongue until he went and climbed into bed with papa or Raphie and let them hug it all away.
Leo said Mikey’s wrist wouldn’t need the full six-to-twelve weeks that a baseline human’s would due to their genetic modifications—“Thank you, Barry,” they had chorused in varying degrees of sincerity (Mikey, Raph and Casey) and sarcasm (Leo, Donnie and Splinter)—but that he still needed to give it time to heal.
“You’re the toughest guy I know,” Leo had said, poking Mikey on the beak to stall the inevitable whine, “but you gotta give yourself a break, Miguelito.”
He said it like his skin wasn’t still bruised like a peach and his shell all wired together from going one-on-one with an actual living nightmare even as he found the energy to take care of someone else.
He sat there in the doctor’s seat, pressing carefully around the wet fiberglass to mold it to Mikey’s wrist, all his attention bent to the task. He always tended to his brothers’ hurts the same way, as if it was the most important and remarkable thing he’d ever do.
Leo’s own casts had only been removed last month, and he was usually very good about following his own medical advice, if only because he knew his siblings would cite his behavior in a heartbeat if it meant they could loophole around doctor’s orders. So Mikey really had no choice but to sulk and accept the distant cousin of scolding he received.
“It’s not a race,” Leo said, smiling at him. “No one’s gonna run off without you. Where would we go that’s half as good as where you’re at?”
It was his knee-jerk reaction to smile at Mikey, like his day got better automatically when Mikey was in it, and it soothed that jangling, frustrated thing inside of Mikey’s chest that only got loud when no one took him seriously. Leo always took him seriously, was always the first of their siblings to believe he could do anything he said he could do, and that meant taking Mikey’s injuries seriously, too.
He’d seen the way Leo had to run himself ragged making sure Donnie kept up with the treatments to his shell and Raph followed instructions on taking care of his eye to the letter. They were trying to spare Leo additional stress, but if they knew they were only compounding the stress he was already in and making it ten times worse, Mikey was pretty sure they’d shut up and take their medicine.
Mikey wanted to be on Leo’s team, not playing against him. So he put his sulk away and put on his best listening face instead, rewarded when some nearly-invisible line of tension in Leo’s shoulders relaxed until it was gone.
Besides, it wasn’t all bad. He got to pick what color cast he wanted, and got everyone to sign it. And it wasn’t the most horrible thing in the world not to have to do any chores.
And when Leo announced to the lair as a whole that he was going to visit his tío Hueso and bring back pizzas for dinner—in a tone that made it very clear he was not asking for permission or inviting any worrywart older siblings along—he followed it up with, “You coming, Angie?”
Maybe because he had been under the scrutiny of worrywart older siblings, too, and understood better than anybody how close Mikey was to biting the next person who tried to baby him. Or maybe because Mikey was the exception to Leo’s rules and he always had been—always invited and always welcome and always wanted.
In another place, in another time, Leo asked Mikey to die for him, and Mikey died for him.
In this kinder one, Mikey jumped to his feet with a grin and said, “I’m with you!” and it didn’t cost him anything.
It should have been silly to say something out loud that they both knew was true, but sometimes it was nice to hear it.

ok i wanna talk about tmnt 2007 and the way i think this is the best version of a leo and raph conflict, and also leo as a character
for context i've been talking about tmnt things kinda chronologically, so i'm gonna mention an unconditional understanding in 03 i bring that up in a previous post about that show and the family dynamics in it here if u want context for what i mean
i think this movie can really be appreciated for the place it has between adaptations, and the way character-wise everyone is more or less the same as they've always been but with a more interpersonal relationship as the focus. the main villain of this movie doesn't really matter, the conflict, the fights, that's not where the strength is (although, it is reflected in the conflict and ill get into that)
so tmnt 07 is one movie that kind of combines the 90s movies, 03, and mirage all in one place, and tonally is is similar to the show that will come after it, 12. if the 90s movies give us conflict between leo and raph, and 03 gives us the unconditional understanding between the two, 07 takes these two aspects and creates a story out of it. (debate in your own mind if this movie is a literal sequel to the 90s ones or not, its not that important)
the set up of this movie is we are in a post killing the shredder world. leo has been told by splinter to go get training elsewhere, there isn't much context for what happened to cause this, but i would bet its a similar cause to 03, where he had ptsd and lashed out at his father to which splinter sends him to his grandfather to get better advice than he thinks he can give him. the difference here is there is no grandfather hes sent to, he's sent on a journey of self discovery around the world to learn about it and himself.
the thing about leo as a character, and this goes for all leos, he's has a very black and white way of thinking. leo thinks he's been sent away because he's failing his family, that he's not a good enough leader. so he stays away for longer because he doesn't feel good enough. he finds a place where he can help and he does that. leo always needs a bad guy to fight, or else he's fighting his own demons. so he stays there for a long time. finding a place he can help quietly, never letting anyone see him, and becoming a legend to the locals because no one knows what's really going down.
april manages to track him down and tell him about whats going on with his brothers, how they're holding up without him and without being a team, and i think thats a good reminder for him that they miss him. he doesn't tell april but he finds a way home only after hearing about this. when he arrives and speaks to splinter, he says "i was so caught up in my own world i forgot about everyone else, i'm sorry i failed" he still doesn't feel like he's done anything of worth.
i'm gonna jump in here and say, you know how we all love rise raph? cuz hes the big brother and some traits that come from that are like being overprotective and taking on everyone else's problems and trying to handle emotions alone? well that's a trait thats usually leo's. but the difference with leo is sometimes that concept doesn't make you as likeable. sometimes it means you come off like a nagging mother hen who thinks they know best but in an arrogant way. sometimes it makes you mirror being a parent when no one asked you to be. leo's less of a passionate character than raph, hes more analytical and full of himself. he takes splinters lessons more seriously, and hes always trying to do whats best for everyone so they don't have to worry. this is something evident with 03 and 12, but its so specifically noticeable here because these traits make up the main conflict. i just want to bring that up so we start seeing leo as no different than some of our other favourite iterations.
splinter responds to his apology by saying "you owe me no apology, but perhaps you should talk to raphael, your absence has been particularly difficult for him, though he'll never admit it" but when leo greets him raph is brushing him off.
on raph's end, this is him being angry that leo left, and angry that hes back and everyone wants to pretend that he wasn't gone at all. as if the time he was gone didn't happen. hes lashing out because he too cant handle talking about these emotions. and hes lashing out by becoming a vigilante in his own right.
i see a lot of people misunderstand what raph is doing here, that "this is what the turtles always do" or "this is the same as what leo was doing how could he be mad" when that is not true. that's what casey does. its true that both leo and raph have been fighting bad guys on their own (as a way of dealing with their issues) but raphael has made himself a costume to disguise himself which means hes prepared to be seen. hes riding a motorcycle around, which is loud. this isn't stealthy, this is aggressive. his vigilante name is in the news. the turtles are ninjas, they silently help where they can and fade into the night and, very specifically, they work as a team. these turtles live in a dangerous world, what if something happened to him while no one else was around? they would never know because he never told anyone.
so raph is lashing out, and leo doesn't have a good way of dealing with it. he tries to slide back into being leader, doing what splinter says but he forgets how his brothers are, and with raph egging them on they get into fights they shouldn't. which leo specifically gets in trouble for, as the oldest brother, and as their leader. leo tries to be this better leader hes supposed to have learned to be, but it doesn't work and raph ends up back out there in his vigilante get up. leo tracks down said vigilante, and in his peak "leo knows best" moment, lectures him, not knowing its his brother. there's a scuffle, and the mask comes off. let me point out that casey knew this vigilante was raph but his own brother didn't, because leo has been gone that long.
so lets get into what this fight is really about. on the surface, its "wow you've been going out at night alone putting yourself in dangerous situations with no backup" and "so what you're just mad that i can do it without you" which leo would be right about. and this is the analytical leo, he really thinks that's all that's going on here. what hes missing is that raphael has missed him as a brother, and hes hurt that leonardo left and just came back no big deal. that he wants everything to be normal. raphael is always a character with big emotions and the only outlet he knows to express them is violence.
leo, who as we've established, went away to learn to be better for his family is angry that raph doesn't see that. he's mad raph doesn't appreciate the effort he went to, and he thinks he's just angry because he's not in charge. each brother sees the other as being arrogant.
this leads them to the big fight. no one can disagree that this is the best part of the movie (seriously watch the movie for this scene if you haven't seen it before) , but the real best part of it is that raphael wins. raph proves hes just as capable of a fighter as his brother, if not more-so. he uses those sais as they're supposed to be used, catching leo's swords and in a fit of rage he fucking breaks them, leaving leo defenceless and completely vulnerable to attack. you'd think he'd be smug that leo lost but he pauses, going through a lot of emotions in a moment, questioning what he's doing, why hes doing it. and leo finally looks his brother in the eye and sees raph going through something he didn't before, realizing raph hasn't been angry that he's back, but that he's angry that he ever left. they don't have a conversation, because raph cant handle all these emotions and he runs away, crying as he does. leo just watches him, taking it all in and realizing the error of his ways.
hearing leo scream turns raph around, but he's too late to help him, and this is where raph regrets his own actions because right then, leo is also proven right in his argument. because he gets kidnapped. if leo hadn't chased raph down, there is a very good chance that would have been raph being kidnapped. with no backup, with no one knowing what happened to him. that's why its important that the turtles are a team.
raph goes home full of guilt, and there's a good moment of showing how he cannot open up emotionally here, because he grunts, punches the wall, knocks over some weights and forces splinter to ask him what happened, because that's how raphael is. he laments to his father that he finally understands why leo is the better son, proving that to raph none of this was about their team, but about their family. conflating the two ideas in his head. splinter gives him a talk that mirrors what he said to leo when he returned earlier in the movie, encouraging him that he is a good son and brother. this shows that these brothers have very similar insecurities about their value to their family.
the rest of the movie plays out as you expect, they go save leo, they stop the bad guy, they reconcile and behave as the team they're supposed to be. but i just want to point out that the villains plot is mirrored in leo and raph's conflict. the 'villain' here is a brother who has been cursed to be immortal without his own siblings. for 3000 years he lived to regret his actions and decided to undo his curse, but he used the cursed stone versions of his siblings to do so. no communication, just thinking he knew better (which maybe he did) and lying about it. that caused them to lie to him right back, and try to overthrow him and destroy the world. this is just one family whose inner turmoil could have destroyed the world. you might say, oh that's not a very interesting turtles villain, but its not supposed to be. its not the focus.
this movie is all about the complicated relationship between a family, and i see so many people talk about it by trying to ask who's right and who's wrong. that's not how it works. life is more complicated than that, people are more complicated than that. its boring to look at this movie and just say "leo is wrong and raph is right" because that's not even how the characters see it. this movie is about leo and raph being mirrors of each other in their arrogance, in their insecurities, and in their stubborn pig-headed refusal to let the other know how they feel. splinter says as much at the start of the movie. this whole movie shows that without each other, they need to be fighting something so they don't get swept up by their own emotions, which they are both bad at processing. they are SUCH brothers. they are so similar emotionally, yet they have such a hard time understanding each other.
personally 07 leo is my favourite leo for his complexity, his flaws his strength, his growth. its sad we never got those sequel movies to get into the other brothers heads as much as we got into leo and raphs heads.
also nolan north and james arnold taylor gave the best vocal performances in this movie and they deserve all the credit for it.

Dynamics: Part 1, <Next!>
(Warning for word vomit ahead!)
I did say I have more storyish/lore stuff planned XD
.
.
So in this Au, F!Raph died when Cj was 5. So there’s not much to say future wise. Cuz Cj rmbs zilch
Present wise: there was inital awkwardness for Cj meeting someone he’s only ever heard stories off plus that awkwardness of meeting someone new. But it was a breath of fresh air for Case, cuz surrounded by these reminders and unfamiliarity, Raph hurts the least. In the first few days post invasion, Cj hung out a lot with Raph cuz everyone was kinda down for the count. April couldn’t be around 24/7 cuz she had to check in with her human family, Mikey was spending the first 3-5 days sleeping alot cuz mystic exhaustion plus his hands. Donnie was in his lab a lot trying to process all the events, plus fix everything the Krang broke and Leo was in his week long coma. And Splints who decided to get off the couch for once was stretched thin trying to look out for everyone and so as a result the two were kinda just smushed tgt allowing them to bond.
.
Overall I picture their dynamic as the most laidback (drama free). Largely in part cuz; A)Cj has less emotional hang ups cuz he doesn’t have to expand mental energy to manage his expectations or manage * cough push down cough * any crushing grief/feelings of abandonment/anger cuz said feelings of abandonment cuz he doesn’t rmb F!Raph to have an attachment, tho he does occasionally feel a bit guilty sometimes for hanging out with Raph but that’s a comic for another time.
B) while Cj is a menace. He’s also a sensible and kind (everyone say thank you F!Mikey) menace who sees how stressed Raph gets trying to wrangle all 3 brothers and feels bad about adding more to his plate. And plus is also very much aware of his mortality and others mortality cuz apocalypse. So the menace only comes out during chill time. Not on missions. Misson wise he’s just like he is in the movie trying to get everyone to stay on track. Which Raph rlly appreciates. But even during chill time Cj is arguably the “calmer” one cuz that’s just how he is as a person. Tho that calmer is debatable cuz it’s by Raph’s skewed standards of his other siblings not normal ppl standards to normal ppl Case still looks unhinged lmao.
.
but generally if they’re hanging out 1 on 1 (in a group setting it’s a whole diff story) Cj tries his best to not stress Raph too much. Unless the menace/cain instinct is hitting hard that day. Cuz he’s a sweet boy liek that. 😂. so they’re usually doing typical chill friend things, watching movies, sparring, sharing bout their day, . causally wandering around topside/Hidden city. With the undercurrent of Raph trade mark mother-henning and Cj depending on the circumstances either goes along with it or tries to get Raph to back off cuz it worries/irritates Cj. All in all they’re just your typical very wholesome older- younger brother dynamic
.
Side note: Raph and Cj are honestly lowkey relieved their hangouts/dynamic are so chill. They love their family but man do they both need a break sometimes XD. For Junior it’s cuz seeing the dead not dead version of family plus struggle of grief/ juggling his expectations for said family is exhausting and having someone whose removed from that whole situation is like phew thank god. For Raph he’s just so glad he has a little brother/sibling/friend who doesn’t have a 90% chance of turning anything (even fricking ice) into a grease fire when left unsupervised unintentionally or not. Tho tbh causal theft, looser morals and gratuitous use of blackmail and occasional pranks may not be much better. Cj is truly his fathers son 😂

Double-Mutated Mikey
Chapter 41: Technoscience
Continued from the short story written by @boots-with-the-fur-club
Prev || Next
Leo still doesn't know how he managed to wriggle himself away from Raph's mother hen-ing, but here he is now -- wandering the halls alone, looking for that Honey-doctor-whoever.
Maybe he should have stayed with Mikey.... he can't help but worry about him. Yes, he has his ninpo back, but still... This place is a bad place. Leo's not sure how to explain it beyond that. It's like being inside a house you know is the location for a horror movie. It reeks of evil.
Besides, he still has the 'epipen' Mikey handed him tucked safely away in his fanny pack.
Leo wonders what Mikey will do with it. After their whole conversation concerning how Mikey is changed now, and how Leo has been adamant that they've accepted him no matter what... he wonders what Mikey's decision will be. He could still take it and change back into his old self. Get back to 'normal'. Become the person he used to be, become the version of himself he's been fighting so hard to get back to.
Or, he could refuse it. Stay like this, with claws and a giant tail and fangs.
What would life be like after that?
Honestly, Leo hadn't even considered that option until the morning when Donnie said he couldn't figure out a retro-mutagen on his own. He said it was impossible. It was a blow to the stomach back then, a dagger in the heart to think of that. To think of Mikey forever trapped in a body that could barely speak and not yet walk upright, a body tormented by thoughts from another voice, a body broken and pieced back together crudely. At the time, it felt like giving up. But now...?
Now, Mikey can convey himself perfectly and speak clearly. Now, Mikey can walk on two legs with very little assistance. Now, Mikey's head is clear of torment.
Now, Mikey is Mikey again.
So what exactly is his choice?
Leo thinks he might know what his brother's choice will be. But he's not sure if it's the right one...
In any case, now's not the time to worry over it. He's on a search and rescue mission. Leo hobbles his way up the stairs until he feels something in his gut. It's soft, small, gentle. A light pulling sensation he can only describe as a knowing, a connection, or maybe even a reconnection, if that makes sense.
Ninpo.
A few minutes later, he gets a message from Donnie that he's found their weapons.
"Ah, so that's what that was," Leo sighs to himself.
He wishes he had his swords with him now. He usually doesn't mind searching the old fashioned way, but with the injuries he has and the time they're losing... Every extra minute in this place makes him more and more nervous.
Leo starts to heave and pant as he climbs yet another flight of stairs. He figures he's almost at the top of the whole place by now...
He gasps for breath as he leans against a door in the stairwell, which leads to yet another floor.
"Oh... Pizza supreme... I need to work out more... or not get electrocuted so much..."
Leo notices the door he's leaning against has a keypad by the handle. Huh. That's strange, none of the other doors have that...
It's either a really good sign or a really bad sign.
Leo wishes yet again that he had his portal swords... it would make things so much easier...
He glances to the side and notes the stairwell railing. Oh well. He'll have to improvise...
He grips the railing and starts shaking it, testing it for weak points. Raph would be better at this next part, but Leo can manage on his own. He pulls on one end and kicks at the other, yanking as hard as he can. It starts to come loose.
"Almost there... almost... come on, baby...!" Leo groans, wrenching the metal bar as hard as he can.
Finally, it starts to break apart! Leo just needs one good shove... He grips the thing as tightly as he can and pushes it as far as it can go. He hears a crunch of metal. One more go ought to do it! Leo revs up, takes a few steps back, rushes forwards and grips the rail with all his might before jumping over and yanking it down with him. The bar snaps off the rail and falls along with the slider turtle.
Leo concentrates, gripping the rail close to his chest as he falls down the center of the stairwell. The metal bar glows blue, and transforms into a sword.
"Man oh man, do I love my ninpo," Leo chuckles to himself, before slicing a hole in space beneath him.
He ends up tumbling right in front of the door at the top floor again, skidding to a halt as he pants for breath again. He may love his ninpo, but transforming random objects into swords like that takes it out of him. Especially when he already has his own swords... made from garden spades....
The sword flickers softly. Leo has to hurry before he exhausts his ninpo... He remembers what happened the last time he did this -- he portalled himself and Mikey out of their bedroom and into Dee's lab after having a nightmare and promptly passed out from the exertion of transforming a metal ruler into a sword. Not his best moment...
Leo holds the sword steady and prays he doesn't pass out this time...
The runes and markings on the blade shimmer before he slices the air once again. Leo limps and lumbers through the portal, tripping slightly before landing on his hands and knees at the other side of the door. The sword fizzles under his palms and reverts to its former state.
"Well... at least I didn't... faint..." he chuckles airily to himself. "....Yet."
Leonardo stumbles through the hallway, placing all his weight on the walls to support him. He's awfully dizzy, and the pins-and-needles numbing pains that occupy his chest hasn't left either. Leo makes a mental note to get revenge on all tasers and cattle prods in the future...
Maybe he should have had Raph come along with him after all.
But he said he was fine, and he saw how badly Raph wanted to stay with Mikey this time around. He knows that Mikey forgave Raph and absolved him of any mistakes from the past, but even so. This mission hits a little too close to home....... for all of them.
Leo starts to notice that the walls are beginning to have doors. Was that always happening? How long has he been zoned out? Okay, he needs to find Dr. Honeycomb as fast as he can and get back to the guys as soon as possible. The adrenaline rush he got from having his ninpo restored and escaping is beginning to wear off.
Door after door after door... name after name after name. Leo isn't sure if it's the dyslexia acting up, or the injuries he sustained, but with every door he passes, it's getting harder to distinguish the words...
Vitcro Flaco... Rublolhp Crobato... Tlyod O'Foole... Ztayon Hnoyectut...
Wait, what was that last one?
Leo does a double take and stares at the nameplate on the door. Despite his headache flaring up the dyslexia, he deciphers the strange code as Zayton Honeycutt.
"Bingo," he chuckles to himself before kicking the door down with all the might he can manage. He secretly makes yet another mental note to thank Draxum for whatever he put in the ooze that made him and his brothers so freaking strong...
There's a loud yipe from inside as the door falls to the ground. Leo rushes in and finds a fidgety, nervous old man sitting on a pathetic cot in the middle of what looks like a mini lab or workspace. It's even smaller than Dee's traincar bedroom... The man on the bed has a long and frizzy white beard, accompanied by even frizzier white tufts of hair on his balding head. There are deep circles under his eyes, and his thin frame shakes terribly.
"W-who are -- what are --" he stammers, adjusting the glasses perched on his nose.
"No time," Leo grunts, tripping slightly as he runs up to the old guy. "You're Honeycutt, right? Friend of Casey Jones Jr. and Agent Bishop?"
"Bishop?" Honeycutt whimpers, standing to his feet immediately. "Is he okay? And C-Casey, the boy, did the EPF find him or --"
"Casey's fine, he's here actually," Leo says, grabbing the old man's hand. "We're getting you guys out of here."
Honeycutt nods softly before eyeing the rest of the teenager.
"You look terrible."
"How shocking," Leo jokes.
"That sounds like a very poignant joke..." Honeycutt trembles, quickly inspecting the marks on Leo's plastron. "I'm guessing the wordplay has some truth to it?"
"I'll be fine. C'mon, we're heading to the roof --"
"Wait!" Honeycutt interjects, pulling away quickly and running to the other side of the room. "I need to get some things first..."
"What--?! We're kind of on a deadline here!" Leo gripes.
"I know, I understand, but I have to take SAL with me."
"Who's Sal?" Leo asks, glancing around the room carefully. "A pet goldfish or something?"
"No, SAL is my life's work," Honeycutt chuckles. "You see, I've been working to create artificial intelligence -- an artificial lifeform, if you will. A mechanical body with a genuine mind... and maybe even a soul. But that's for the philosophers to work out, I'm interested in seeing if it's possible to create consciousness within a machine!"
"Wait, you mean AI?" Leo clarifies, somewhat taken aback. "Doesn't that usually result in like... killer robots that destroy humanity?"
"Well... Yes," Honeycutt sighs. "My last attempt was quite... violent, to be truthful. I assume you've met Ms. Campbell by now?"
"Not yet, who's she?" Leo asks, looking over his shoulder to make sure no one is in the hall. He thought he heard something...
"Well, she was my last attempt at creating artificial intelligence," Honeycutt explains, as he packs up several irreplaceable-looking tools and gadgets. "But I got impatient with the code and morality matrixes, and I may have borrowed some data from... unfriendly sources."
"Sounds riveting," Leo says impatiently as he goes to push the old man and his oversized tin toy through the door, "You and Donnie should schedule a brunch meetup or something. But we got to go, NOW."
Honeycutt gasps and freezes as Leo tries to shove him again. He hears a click.
Leo looks up and sees a woman standing in the doorway, holding what Leo pathetically hopes is a toy blaster, and not the real thing.
"A-Abigail," Honeycutt gasps, smiling nervously as his entire body starts trembling with fear. "W-what a surprise!"
"Yeah," the woman says, sounding almost as nervous as him. "It really is. What are you doing, Zayton?"
"W-well, there was an evacuation going on, wasn't there--?"
"Don't play dumb with me, we both know you're too smart for that to work," Abigail growls. She slowly trains the blaster at the two of them, eyes darting back and forth, unsure of who to glare at. "...How could you betray us like this?!"
"B-betray?" Honeycutt stutters.
"Look, maybe we can continue this confrontation at a later date, or maybe never --" Leo attempts.
"You were going to sell us out!" Abigail yells, stomping forward and forcing Professor Honeycutt to take several steps back, along with Leo behind him. "Chaplin told us EVERYTHING! You and that rogue agent were going to go to the police?! With all our work?! All of MY work, Zayton?!"
"I-I'm sorry, Abigail," Honeycutt stammers. "But it was getting out of hand..."
"You don't even understand the meaning of the word!" she screams in his face. "OUT OF HAND?! You were right alongside us, performing your own experiments on the monster! You were using the funding, just like we were! You got your share, and you thought you could just run away?!"
Leo takes several steps to distance himself from Honeycutt, staring in shock. He knew that he worked here, knew he was involved, but... is what she saying true? Did he do things to Mikey??
Honeycutt flinches when he feels Leo move away. He glances back at him, trying to study his expression. Leo figures he must look terrified, because when the old man sees him, he looks remorseful, guilty, and hurt.
"I... I never wanted to... I didn't know what they were..."
Abigail laughs haughtily, tears in her eyes as her hands shake with pure burning rage.
"You didn't know?!" she sneers. "You were the one building the mechs, the training simulators, the ice gun, the extra-strength cattle prods and tasers, the robots -- you built us killing machines, and you DIDN'T KNOW?!"
Honeycutt trembles, shrinking under her accusations.
"And then you have the audacity to switch sides?! Turn Benedict Arnold on us and sell out your associates and friends?!" she screams, bringing the tricked-out laser gun closer to her face and pointing it at the two of them. "You... you traitor. I trusted you. Believe it or not, I trusted you. More than Chaplin, more than Timothy. I always pegged you as the level-headed one, the one person here I could count on not to lose his mind --"
"That's what I'm trying to say!" Honeycutt cries out, throwing his hands in the air. "I joined the EPF because I had a dream! Like you! Probably like most of the people who got sucked into the corporation! But it's not a corporation, it's a #%?!&@$ CULT! It's an insane asylum where the patients are running the show and the only people who have any real thoughts left are the ones in a cage!! Do you have any idea what my existence was like after Chaplin got here?! I was a prisoner loooong before he locked me in my room! And yes, I did what I was told -- because I saw what happened to people who stepped out of line! You know exactly what I'm talking about!! Remember that one guard who assaulted Mikey with the taser?! Do you know, do you remember what happened to him?!"
"Yes I do," Dr. Finn snarls. "His brain is in a jar in my lab."
Honeycutt goes pale.
"Oh. Well, last I heard, he had been mutated and caged... um, but it still proves my point! Anyone who goes against Chaplin or the TCRI --"
"That's different!" Abigail Finn defends. "He attacked the subject and almost damaged the brain --"
"And that justifies experimentation and execution?!" Honeycutt shouts back. "Chaplin is not the law, he's neither judge nor jury! He has no right to do the things he's been doing!! Can't you see how insane this is?!"
Honeycutt sighs and lowers his arms, hanging his head.
"Please... Abigail... You have to see this for what it is. I never wanted to betray anyone, but this has gone on long enough. People are getting hurt. I just... I wanted to leave."
Honeycutt slowly looks back up at her. Her hands shake softly, her eyes burn red with tears. She grits her teeth and grips the gun tighter.
"...Why do you think I came up here?" she growls. "I came to get you out."
Honeycutt's eyes go wide.
"Wait, what? Really? Then what are we even doing here; put the gun down and let's get --"
"NO," Abigail Finn growls, readjusting her stance. "Not yet."
Leo suddenly realizes that the gun isn't pointed at Prof. Honeycutt. It was never pointed at the professor. It was pointed at him.
Leo's hands slowly raise up, and he takes another step back. Dr. Finn takes one step forward.
"Abigail, what are you..?" Honeycutt asks, head bouncing back and forth as he looks between the two of them. "Abby... Abigail, s-stop!"
"You're coming with me, Honeycutt," she growls low. "We're getting out of here. But him?" Her face contorts into a snarl. "He's not going anywhere."
"You're not actually gonna shoot me, are you?" Leo laughs nervously. "You wouldn't -- I'm unarmed!"
"But we both know that you're still a living weapon," Abigail sneers. "Just like Chaplin always said about your brother..."
"Abby, stop! Please! What would you have to gain from this?!" Honeycutt pleads.
"I have everything to lose," she says, voice cracking as she steps closer. "Those turtles will destroy everything I've ever worked for. I'm not about to lose my life's work over a few sewer monsters!"
She points the gun straight at Leo, staring him point-blank in the face. He knows he can't escape, not with the condition he's in. There's no way out of here. Abigail's finger traces over the trigger...
"Just stay out of my way..."
Honeycutt steps in between the two.
"No."
Abigail's brow furrows as she glares at her former coworker.
"Zayton? What are you... get out of my way! This doesn't concern you --"
"Yes it does," Honeycutt says defiantly. "You can't hurt him."
"Watch me."
"No," he says again, guarding Leo.
Leo, who happens to find this whole scenario ironic. Shouldn't he be the one guarding Honeycutt?? But Here he is, watching in fear as a frail old man protects his life from this nutty lady.
"No, I won't move. I'm done being afraid, I'm done pretending like my absence of a choice isn't a choice in and of itself. I've been hiding for too long, letting you get away with everything. No more. I'm taking a stand for once in my life. I can't let you do this, Abby."
"Stay out of this," she seethes, gripping the magazine and handle of the blaster with all her might.
Honeycutt shakes his head.
"I'm done staying out of it."
Bang!
Leo instinctively ducks as soon as he hears the blast, before looking up in shock as the old man defending him doubles over in pain, gripping his chest as Abigail Finn panics and runs away in terror.
"What... no... No! No, no, no!" Leo screams, grabbing the old man by the shoulders and trying desperately to help him. "S-stay with me, okay?! Stay, stay here, I-I'll..."
Honeycutt gasps and gags, choking on his own blood. There's a small but deep hole where a lung is located. Leo guesses that Dr. Finn meant to shoot through the doctor and hit him... but it doesn't even matter now; Leo has to act fast. His hands are already stained red as he attempts to apply pressure to the wound...
Honeycutt grips Leo's fingers with his own, pulling him close as he gasps and fights for air.
"P-please... there's not much time," he wheezes hoarsely. "You... you n-need to get out of h-here. F-find Bishop, g-g-get the... the proof... get it out, s-so n-nothing will ha-happen t-to... to your.... y-your brother... I-I'm sorry for the p-part I played in... in it all..... but... h-hopef-fully this m-makes up for... for everything...... g..go, now......"
"No, I'm not leaving you here!" Leo growls, gritting his teeth. "I'm saving you, I'm getting you out of this mess!"
"I'm already dead," Honeycutt chuckles, before choking and hacking up blood. "I'm lost, kid... just... just go, qu-quick..."
"NO, there's gotta be someway I can save you!"
Leo glances around the room frantically, searching for something, anything he can use --
His eyes fall on the robot laying on the floor by his side. SAL.
"...You said you were trying to put consciousness into a robot, right?" Leo tries, tears streaking down his face in desperation as he runs out of options. "How??"
"The... the port..." Honeycutt manages, his voice fading as he struggles to keep his eyes open. "The... there's a cable... o-on the t...table..... blue ssssstripes..."
Leo sets him down carefully and grabs the large blue cord from the table. The end of said cable has several metal prongs connected inside of it, matching a port opening. Leo finally sticks it in after three tries, then turns to the doctor.
"O-okay, what now?!" he begs. "What do I do?!"
"The... the hel.... th'helmet..." Honeycutt exhales, his finger weakly lifting, falling, and shaking as he attempts to point to a corner cabinet.
Leo jumps into action, practically pouncing on the cabinet and shoveling supplies out as he frantically searches for the device. He eventually finds what looks like a metal bike helmet, complete with blinky lights and switches.
"Okay, okay, I think I've got it, now what?"
Honeycutt doesn't respond. Leo whirls around to look at him. His chest is starting to fall.
"No... No! No, not yet! Not when I can -- NO!"
Leo moves. Fast, desperate, swift, and with very little thinking involved.
"Really wish Donnie was here!" he gripes as he snatches the cable from the desk and shoves it into the helmet. A three-pronged needle sticks out from the other side where the porthole would be. Leo grimaces as he thinks of the pain that will follow. "Sorry, doc, but this is probably gonna sting..."
Leo drops to his knees by the professor and drives the helmet onto his head. The needles click into the nape of the neck. The lights flash, and the old man suddenly screams, his body convulsing on the ground as the device does its work.
Leo has to force himself to keep from covering his mouth at the screams; his hands are still bloody and he doesn't want to get the Professor's blood anywhere it shouldn't be. The professor shrieks in pain as the cable brightens up and blue light flows from the helmet to the little robot laying on the floor beside them. His body jerks, back and forth, the robot begins to tremble and jerk as well. A garbled, staticy shriek starts to emanate from the speakers where its mouth would be.
Suddenly, both bodies freeze and fall limp. The professor goes silent, his skin pale and shirt soaked with blood. His chest falls, his breathing ceases.
He's dead.
"...D-doc?" Leo whimpers. "Hello? Did... did it work? Please, tell me I didn't just --"
Leo hears groaning. It's robotic, staticy, almost like autotune. It slowly starts to refocus, becoming clearer and easier to understand. It sounds like... like...
"...Professor?" Leo whispers, hovering over the metal body with baited breath.
The robot -- SAL -- stirs, before slowly sitting up and placing a mechanical hand to its head.
"ᴜɢʜʜ… ᴡᴇʟʟ, ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡᴀꜱ ᴀɴ ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇ ɪ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴘᴇᴀᴛ."
Leo reels backwards from the robot half his size, as it slowly starts to stand.
"ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴅɪᴅ… ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴅɪᴅ ʏᴏᴜ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴅᴏ…?" it asks, in Honeycutt's voice. "ᴡʜʏ ɪꜱ ᴇᴠᴇʀʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ꜱᴏ ᴍᴜᴄʜ ᴛᴀʟʟᴇʀ? ᴀɴᴅ ᴡʜʏ ᴅᴏ ɪ --"
The robot Honeycutt halts, staring down at the new body it he has acquired.
"ᴏʜ. ᴏʜ. ᴏʜʜʜʜ -- ᴏʜ ᴍʏ ɢᴏᴅ, ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴᴇ?! ɪ -- ɪ --"
"You're welcome?" Leo tries, slowly getting off the floor and to his feet as he watches the Professor come to terms with his new form. "If that really is you... Right? Doc?"
"ɪᴛ… ɪᴛ'ꜱ ᴍᴇ, ɪ… ᴏᴏᴏᴏᴏᴏʜ ᴅᴇᴀʀ, ᴛʜɪꜱ ɪꜱ ɢᴏɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ꜱᴏᴍᴇ ɢᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴜꜱᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ…"
"Can you walk?" Leo asks nervously.
"ɪ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇ ꜱᴏ," he replies slowly. "ɪ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ'ꜱ ᴀ ᴜꜱᴇʀ ᴍᴀɴᴜᴀʟ ᴅᴏᴡɴʟᴏᴀᴅᴇᴅ ɪɴ ʜᴇʀᴇ ꜱᴏᴍᴇᴡʜᴇʀᴇ…"
"Well, read it on the way, okay?" Leo sighs with relief, taking the robot's hand and dragging him away. "We got to GO."

Children ?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Answer to : send me a word and I'll write you a Carcar drabble.
When Oscar left the Paddock as a Formula 1 driver for the last time, he thought the anxiety inherent in his job was leaving him. Carlos’ hand was on his back, he was smiling, champagne still on Oscar’s skin despite the shower, they drowned him in it after his fourth and final title. They were going home together, two retired drivers whose only goal is to take care of the two children they adopted. Diane and Leo, twins.
And here he is, some fifteen years later, with more white hair, a wedding ring, a frown line (courtesy of his children and Lando), and still four titles, entering the paddock with the nervousness of a rookie.
Australia is still blindingly sunny and the fans still welcome him as a hero, their four-time world champion. Carlos is still at his side like a constant, mumbling about changing teams and the top teams that have remained the same over the years. Haas has been bought three times, Alpine no longer exists and was taken over by Porsche, Red Bull is now a single entity and Williams has finally faded away. McLaren, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes are still top teams in the discipline.
“I didn’t miss the press…”, Oscar mutters disgruntled. “Urgh. As if the years go by and the vultures stay the same.”
“That’s very kind of you to say to this humble presenter of Sky Sport Spain. Am I a vulture to you?”
“I married you, that should answer your question, right?”, Oscar mocks gently. "You're my favourire vulture."
Carlos is a presenter for Sky Sport Spain for a few races on the calendar and shines in Rally. Oscar has won in IndyCar and WEC including Le Mans, he has achieved his dream of three crowns.
"Where are they ?"
Oscar searches the crowd for black polo shirts and a matching racing suit, but a crowd has formed between the motorhome. He’s the most nervous of the four and he knows it. Over time, his placid exterior has faded and Lando has the audacity to call him a mother hen.
“They should be fine, you know?” Carlos teases. “And it’s a home race. I never saw you at home races, or rather, I had to follow the tim tams to find you.”
“Better than that time in Spain,” Oscar scoffs, grimacing. “I thought I was going to send Alex into the barriers.”
Carlos snorts. They’ve been caught in a few compromising positions over the years.
“It was our fault, not his, cariño.”
Oscar shrugs. Lando made a game of trying to catch them kissing in the Paddock. He's run into Charles and Max in broom closets more often than into them.
"That'll do, Diane has the same path as you, if not better, I find her less… daring in maneuvers with no space."
"There was space Carlos, you're the one who's always been blind."
"Not when it comes to you, I knew right away that you were mine."
Carlos places his lips on her forehead as he usually does, as he heads towards Mercedes' hospitality.

Question did the shredder incident make Leo’s relationships with his fam Different in any way ??? Liiike more doting/protective/mother hen esque iykwim or did it stay normal
So in the Sidelined info post I talk quite a bit about how the bros + Splints + April react in the immediate aftermath and during the healing process. Eventually they do get to something pretty close to their original relationship, but there are some changes.
Raph is the worst about being doting and overprotective in the aftermath, to a degree he never was with Leo before. Raph feels a lot of guilt for this happening to Leo and he works through it by trying to help in whatever way he can - unfortunately his "help" usually ends up taking away what independence Leo has and makes him feel condescended to and babied. It also ends up crossing Leo's boundaries a lot; I've mentioned this in another post but Raph was the worst at first about moving Leo's chair when he didn't want it moved, which made Leo feel a loss of control over his own movements. For a while the problem was that Donnie was too hard, leaving Leo without the compassion he needed while he was trying to work through his own grief, and Raph was too soft, making Leo feel infantilized, and ironically without the support he actually needed to heal. Eventually they get it right, and their relationships get back to the more even keel they used to have, but it takes some time. Again, they're all teens and they've never been through something like this before, so there's bumps in the road.
Long term, even once they work those issues out, there are still changes in how they all interact with Leo. This incident exposed insecurities he's had for a long time, and they had to learn how to navigate his new vulnerabilities at the same time he was learning how to be vulnerable. At the end of the day he's still their same loud-mouth brother, who makes bad puns and chants his own name and calls himself the face-man, but his edges and soft spots have shifted. They had to learn the new safe zones and the new danger areas. they had to learn how to offer help without making him feel stifled. There's a bit of a curve but eventually they all get there.
That said they are all way more defensive and protective of him in public now. Leo doesn't actually think he needs it, but it's kind of funny seeing them get aggro because someone thought it would be cute to grab his cane and play with it or hang something off his chair handles.
thanks for the ask!

Do you have any head cannons on a 12 non-verbal Leo… like if his throat injuries start to bother him a lot more?
Ooooooohhhh boy do I got some-
Like I've stated before Leo isn't much of a talker due to his vocal chords acting up sometimes. He only talks when he needs to or when he's forgotten about his injuries. However when he does push his vocal chords too far and ends up going silent it usually results in this.
When Leo's voice gets incredibly bad, his brothers almost know immediately. It's the way that Leo acts, he's more quieter than he usually is. He'll swallow a bit more, and when he speaks or clears his throat there's a barely concealed flinch of pain and discomfort. Leo of course will try to act like nothing's wrong but it becomes quite obvious that Raph, Donnie and Mikey are already in on his little game and are already going into protective brother mode. Once they enter into that mode Leo will most times just accept it, knowing that arguing is pointless, especially since he can't speak.
Mikey's the first one to help Leo, by essentially becoming one of his main voices in talking to people or talking to him and keeping Leo's openings of possibly talking to a minimum. They'd come up with a system the two of them, which they later teach to Raph, Donnie, April and Casey. Whenever Leo needs Mikey to speak for him it's usually in little signals of sorts. Tapping on his little brother's shell or shoulder, drumming his fingers on Mikey's hand, brushing up against his shoulder. Leo doesn't have to say a word for Mikey to catch on fairly quickly, the youngest Hamato being so in tuned with his brothers. Mikey's also a bit more watchful of Leo, always watching him for little ques to let him in on how his throat's doing. Leo doesn't mind it, in fact he's quite relieved that Mikey's able to understand him without words just as well as he does with words.
Donnie's the second one to come to Leo's aid when it comes to his throat and damaged vocal chords. Donnie's first step is to get Leo a cup of tea, or more specifically a special medical brew that Donnie himself had created to help aid and soothe Leo's throat. He also checks him over, making sure that his vocal chords aren't getting worse than they already are. Leo let's him do as he pleases, mainly because he can't really say anything without being in agony and it makes his little brother feel better to examine the oldest Hamato. Once Donnie's done he'll be in mother hen mode afterwards, tending to his older brother's needs (though Leo is perfectly capable of doing it himself) and making sure that he has the right stuff in helping to aid him. Donnie and Leo had also taken up sign language should such a situation like this occur, and the two will often times be nothing more than a flurry of hand movements as they converse to give Leo's throat a break.
Raph's the last to help Leo out. Since he's not exactly chatty like Mikey nor is he medically inclined like Donnie, it's Raph's duty to be the support of Leo. And by support I mean he becomes a temporary speaker of the clan and family in Leo's stead. While Mikey is the speaker of Leo's unspoken needs, Raph's the speaker for everything else. This includes important things and missions should Leo's vocal chords decide to give him hell. Due to how close Leo and Raph are, it's not difficult for them to communicate with one another. Silent conversations spoken with tiny movements or eye contact with one another or just a simple small hum from Leo and Raph's able to figure out exactly what his older brother wants. It's honestly quite freaky to those who don't know how close the two eldest boys are, but to those who personally know them it's a pretty normal occurrence.
And if April and Casey are around when Leo's voice gives way they too do whatever they can to help their friend.
April who's also taken up sign language will have conversations with her friend, taking Leo's mind off of the pain and discomfort that he's feeling. She'll also give him reassuring squeezes and gentle rubs on his shoulder or shell to let him know that he can take as long as he needs to speak. April's incredibly patient with Leo, and if his vocal chords are so sore that he's not even up for signed conversations, April will then just sit quietly with him, offering her comforting older sister presence to the hurting leader.
Casey meanwhile gives Leo that much needed dosage of normalcy. While Leo appreciates his brothers and April's care and efforts in helping him during this thing, he's still Leo who if he gets overwhelmed by being unintentionally babied so much, will most likely flip out, sore, swollen throat and vocal chords be damned. With Casey he makes sure to treat Leo the same way as he always does, reassuring Leo in some way that he's not being invalidated by his family and that they still see him and hold him in a normal viewpoint.

2012 TMNT boys x wolf mutant reader
Type; headcanon
romantic or platonic?; platonic to romantic
type of reader; GN wolf mutant
Leonardo
You CANNOT tell me he didn't have a wolf phase as a kid
He has facts stored in the back of his brain you didn't think he'd know honestly, and he asks you if every one is true or if you follow this specific behavior pattern
i mean, he doesn't ask immediately cause he doesn't wanna put you off, but once you two are more comfortable he opens up more and the questions roll out
I'm pretty sure he's asked more questions then Donnie ever has
Immediately decides 'thats my best friend' the INSTANT you prove you're not trying to hurt anyone
who cares that you were breaking and entering into a mall late at night, you were probably just shopping anyways
surprisingly okay with commiting crimes with you, on accident or on purpose
arson? YES. murder? less of a yes, not off the table when it comes to the foot clan. Graffiti? if you want to, go ahead
still a strict leader and overprotective mother hen to his brothers and sisters
but you're not a brother or sister so you're chill
never outright asks for anything from you, you just gotta guess
piggyback rides? sure, if you want. help this stubborn, short turtle get something off the high shelf? if you insist. sparing in the dojo and teaching each other moves? YES PLE- well, if you're sure you want to
denies everything his brothers claim
one time Raph told Karai y'all were dating on one of her visits and Leo denied it so fast. luckily you weren't there, he already felt bad for how quick he'd denied it
if you're poly, it's either you and Casey or you and April for him, and he doesn't want anybody else
wants to be big spoon, smaller spoon by majority vote. secretly enjoys it, but won't admit it readily
Will eventually just start climbing in your lap or sitting between your legs whenever he can. he likes when you're even taller than him then usual and it makes him feel small and safe
like, if you're meditating or reading or something and sitting crosslegged then BAM, here's Leo climbing up and leaning into you
Raphael
Eugh boy, 'kay
he ALSO had a wolf phase, but more of a werewolf phase in specific
like, old horror movies, teen wolf, tricking his brothers into thinking a werewolf lived in the sewers, the works
When they find you, wandering NY looking for help and confused when people run away, he feels kinda bad
he knows how it feels to be alienated and hates seeing anyone else experience it
y'all are fast friends, being fast, deadly and violent together is perfect
you're actually invited to missions really quickly since you, Raph and Casey are such a good team
no home to go back to? no problem. motherfucker helps set you up wherever you want to be
roomies? a park? the woods? cryptid along the highways? an abandoned apartment? the docks? farther into the sewers? whatever you need and wherever you want to live, he'll help
if y'all get together romantically, he won't believe he deserves you for a bit
if you're polyam with either Mona or Casey or both, the feeling is worse in the best way
how did this angry little turtle score a wolf, a salamandarian and/or a human?? he doesn't know
LITTLE. SPOON.
refuses to admit it to anyone, but he MUST be little spoon somehow. face to face, spooning properly, laying on top of you, sitting between your legs on the floor during movie nights, he needs you as a shield, it's the only time he can let his guard down
if you're poly, he needs to be sandwiched at all costs and will do his best to wiggle in where there's room
Is super clingy, pretends he's not. calls you the whole way home every single night and will end up just popping over to yours for sleepovers if he can't sleep with a little paper note on the table
once he decides your Chompy's other parent there's no going back from that
Donatello
OH, OKAY HERE WE GO
meets you the same way as either Raph or Mikey, your choice
if Mikey, throws a wrench instead of an iPod-
knows quite a bit about wolves and mutation both. not from phases, just research
almost immediately starts lecturing to no one in particular about wolf traits, diets, behaviors and other such info until Raph hits him over the head or everyone wanders off
everyone except you, that is.
friendship is immediate and he can't believe he finally met a mutant who isn't family and isn't out to kill them!
after you start showing interest in his work, he's head over heels for you, he falls faster but you fall harder
loves trying to make your tail wag even before y'all get together
little compliments, small practical gifts like coffee or a weapon
eventually it progresses to you always sitting near him so he can pet you! he uses it as a stim and it calms any anxiety you have, win win! plus, it's almost the same as having your hair brushed and/or braided as a kid
if you're poly it's, once again, with April or Casey, or both even
doesn't have a specific cuddle spot since some days he's touch adverse and others he's not, will just get comfy and pass out wether it's bedtime and your asleep or not
PLEASE PLEASE CARRY HIM HOME FROM MISSIONS
if you carry him home, princess style or piggy back or whatever, he'll blush like a tomato and, eventually, doze off
tends to overwork himself, you're gonna have to physically drag him away from his work with the lure of cuddles and kisses or just straight up grabbing him and walking away (if he's at a good stopping point, be nice about it :p)
no home to go back to? new roomie! or if you lived on your own he just makes sure you're safe there, either way you prefer it
can and will set up a mini lab in your apartment/house for "emergencies" but really it's so he has an excuse to come over and stay over longer, he may not look the part but he is CLINGY
Michelangelo
meets you not dissimilar to Leatherhead
you ended up wandering the sewers to get away from the people on the streets, and somehow wound up at the entrance to the lair
he was just dancing around but when he opened his eyes there was some glowing eyes in the shadows and he kinda panicked and threw his iPod at you lmao
Bonk
new friend instantly, introduces you to ICK and the fam
probably the only one out of his brothers with no clue about wolves, just assumes anything you do is normal for the longest time
cuddles even before romance, he is a physical touch person! will hang off your arm or neck like a little kid or just constantly be touching you
baking partners! you always need to shower at a local warehouses chem shower after because flour fights are inevitable and it gets stuck to your fur easily
French braids all day baybe!! will even steal a wig so you can style his hair back
if you're poly it's either Casey, Mondo or Renet
must be big spoon, surprisingly. doesn't like being babied for a while but eventually just gets comfy in whatever cuddle position he feels like and passes out for the next 3 hours
will ask you to carry him around from the get go, no shame or shyness
once y'all get together it's even more clingyness and now kisses added in too
tries to teach you to skateboard, but you end up rollerblading across the rooftops instead! loves just being near you when he can
Will straight up walk through Times Square or Central Park with you when it's really late. pretends y'all are furries or cosplayers and keeps moving
DANCE PARTIES

Shell Shocked Mikey
Say hi to uncle Mikey!! He’s the uncle to get his nephews in and out if trouble. I like to think he takes over Mr. Murikami’s restaurant later on down the line. He often teases Raph about how he’s the taller one now and his brother the shortest! When he’s not working the restaurant at night he’s usually playing around with the boys and chompy and ICK or playing video games. Other times he can be seen working with Donnie in the lab doing chemistry science. Donnie found he has an unnatural knack for it and is helping teach Mikey about proper chem sciences.
He as well has become a sort of mother hen around Leo, the two brothers sharing a closer bond now since S4 because of it. Mikey puts on shows to help Leo chill and Leo is open more to showing Mikey new fighting techniques he’s prepping for him and his brothers!
Also he and Casey both got tongue piercings on a dare to see who would chicken out first.
Neither did in the end, that was certainly something to have to explain to Leo—
His favorite nephew is Leon, tell no one

ask game ask game! 8, 9, 28, 33 pretty please!
Hi lucky!!!! Ask game ask game!!!
8.) Which turtle is usually your favorite?
Hard to say, I haven't actually watched a ton of TMNT. But Leo or Donnie. Pissy asshole daddy's boy and tired slightly deranged mother hen are always safe bets, some interpretations of raph are too angry or not angry enough for my liking, and I might be in the well but there's some interpretations of Mikey that i dislike enough for me to not say him
9.) Who is your favorite version-specific turtle?
Augh this is really hard. Rise? Leo. There's so much angst and sadness crammed into this little man. Bay? Raph. Similar reasoning, but he's a huge man
28.) What is one thing you would like to see explored more in TMNT art/fics?
Oh man I hope no one feels called out bc you should make what you wanna make. I don't have any peeves with art really, but in writing I really crave a reader that isn't fucking stupid just for plot convenience. I can understand that in-universe it might be a logical decision, but if it just causes agonizing miscommunications or fights, which I really try to avoid, I'm not going to feel connected reading it. And I was talking with a friend today also, wanting more actual gender neutral reader stuff haha. Things like more androgynous and comfortable clothing(no heels, bras with hooks, jewelry, dresses, specifically mentioned clothing, lace, etc), ambiguity about genitals(I've seen very gn fics only use descriptions that can apply to afabs and amabs both), that kind of thing. I'm a fem fluid person, so I suffer less, but genderless and masc people kinda get shunted. Last peeve, I want realistic height comparisons. I know most people aren't as short as me, 4'11, but you're not "standing on your tiptoes" and kissing a 6'5 man on the cheek, or having a 6'8 man barely lean to rest his head on yours/your shoulder. It pulls me out immediately
33.) What is your favorite thing you've made for TMNT?
This is so hard!!! Torture!!!!!! I've made so much, but it's hard because I...really don't like a lot of what I've made. I never have, I don't think I ever will. Artwise? Uhhh. I honestly can't say. Every time I try to say a piece, I find something to pick apart. The first gift for khaya, I don't like something about it. The second gift, there's something else. Any set of au stuff I've done, there's mistakes I made. Story/writing wise? Butterfly Effect. Ofc Danii created it, and the comic is outdated, simple and I don't like it, but this is a full story here. It's an iteration, the length of TV shows. It consumes me.

Oh...
Everyone knows the “Oh...” trope but there’s not nearly enough appreciation for the trope in the tickle community.
(btw this is all rottmnt fanfiction)
_._._
“Oh! Does that tickle?” Leo gasped genuinely.
“Leeeeeeee!” Mikey drummed his feet on the table as he covered his bright red face. It was necessary. This was all totally necessary. He did take a really nasty hit in that fight and his shell having a chip was important to look at.
But oh dear lord! Leo gently pressing his fingers across different areas of his shell, making sure that every tiny part of his entire carapace was okay, was actual torture. He truly didn’t know he was ticklish there!
“Any pain here?” Leo continued like nothing was different.
Meanwhile Mikey squawked “LEO! Eheheee.”
Leo looked at him all sympathetic but his eyes were gleaming with mischief, “Not much longer Mikester. Any pain? Any... sensitivity?”
The gentle pressure as he prodded along his back. Gentle pokes right at the very top of his shell. It was like someone was constantly hovering over a tickle spot. Mikey couldn’t control his giggling even if he tried. His cheeks aching from the smile. “Ehe heh eeeeh hehe heehee! Nah! All gohood!”
“So I’ll keep going?” Leo teased.
It was all necessary. It was important. “Keheep eheheh heh! Keep going.”
_._._
“Oh. Oh no! Wait! No! Don’t do this!” Raph squealed.
“Raphie! I’m trying to help!” Mikey giggled.
“I take it back! Raph don’t need help! I’m big! I can, uh, get out!” He cried out as if he wasn’t stuck in a sewer pipe with only his legs and head sticking out. Mikey being behind him. He was squirming around to try and find a good position to use his chains to pull him out.
Including squirming a hand around his sides and belly. “Can you?” When did Mikey get so sassy.
The hand crawled around to grab his side again. He flinched harshly. “Don’t! Mikey! Please! Don’t!”
“Don’t what?” Came a giggly voice and, being the older brother, he was less familiar with the trap laid before him.
“Don’t tickle me!”
“Tickle you? Sounds like a great idea!” Mikey squeaked before squeezing his right side mercilessly.
“HAH! HAHAHAHAAA! MAHA MIKEY! HAHAHAAHAHA!”
_._._
“Oh! Don’t you dare!” Donnie violently grabbed Leo’s hand that was reaching and wiggling for his bare shell.
“HAHAHAAHAAA! ALL’S FAHAIR IN WAR AAAAAAAH AHAHAAHAHA!” Leo screeched as Donnie continued drumming his fingers on his thighs. And truly it was all fair game considering Donnie latched on to his ultimate tickle spot immediately.
“Oh yeah? You think this is a war and not an annihilation?” Donnie smirked.
But, for all his brains, Donnie could never predict him! Leo lurched up as if he was still drowning in his own laughter and sucked the deepest breath he could and leaned forward to blow a raspberry against his stomach.
“AAH! LEO!” Donnie fell away from where he was straddling him. Leo sprung up and dug his scratching tickling hands under his arms. “HAHAHAHAAHAHA!”
“Oh I dare Donald! I dared Donald!”
_._._
“Oh well. Guess I’ll just have to tickle it out of you.”
Raph scribbled his hand across Mikey’s foot, one big hand holding the whole of his calf while the other danced quickly over his foot. Mikey balked and desperately waved his foot but it was useless. His eyes bulged as he clamped down on his lip.
“Mikey,” Raph said in his sickly sweet mother hen tone. “where did you place Raph’s JJ comic?”
Mikey had thought that Raph was just being his usual playful self when he offered to have him ride his shoulders. But now he was truly trapped. That one foot being tickled. Can’t lean away as he’ll fall.
“Mikeyyyyyy!” Raph’s fingers meant he could tickle away at his entire foot. “Tickle tickle tickle.”
Mikey kept his hands slapped over his mouth.
Raph turned and saw Mikey’s art desk. He smirked widely as he pulled out one of his daintier paint brushes. “Mikeyyyyy? You gonna admit where you put it?”
The second the tiny little bristles brushed between his toes, Mikey lurched like he had been electrocuted. “AAAAAAAH WAIT! HAHAHAHAHAHAA!”
_._._
“Oh... I was just uh... wondering... uh not if you don’t wanna. I... Could we... could you do the shell thingy again?”
Leo looked clueless for just a second before he smirked. “You mean you’re monthly shell scrub?”
Raph was blushing violently but his tail wagged happily, betraying his emotions. The shell scrub was something they all did to make sure they kept their shells shiny and clean. Raph and Donnie had to be more often since their species usually burrowed away or used the sand and stones in rivers to exfoliate.
For Raph, it tickled. It tickled but like a relaxing tickle. One that would just about prick at him. He laid down and it was only a moment before Leo came back with his brush.
The brush landed in the direct middle of his shell. Raph felt his face naturally curl into a smile but his shoulders loosened. He prepared himself to sit there and let the gentle smoothing tickles cheer him up and relax him unlike anything else.
The laughter would never quite come but his chest would occasionally bounce with a suppressed giggle. The brush was moved in gentle circles as it danced between his spikes. He happily leaned into the movements.
What he didn’t see was that Leo loved doing this too. Turning his stressed out big brother all tickle drunk. So he kept tickling and scrubbing away.
_._._
“OH PIZZA SUPREME STAHAHAHAHAAAP!”
“You were the one that challenged me to make the tickle belt from spongebob,” Donnie snarked without even looking up from his notes. This was an invention still in beta so he had to make notes.
Leo slapped the floor as he again, pointlessly, tried to pull the belt away from where it was buzzing away at his helpless tummy. The vibrations translating through his plastron in the most teasing ticklish way. “AHAHAHA! AH! HAHA! DON!” “On a scale of one to ten-”
“NO! NO! NOHOHO! AHAHAHAAAA! NO SCALE! HAHAHAHA! AAAAH! NO DATA COLLECTIOOOOONNNNN AAAAAAAH HAHAHAHA!”
“Oh your spiking laughter must be because of the adjusting speed. This is so you don’t get numb to the tickling. Data collection is necessary, however. On a scale of one to ten, how much does this tickle?”
Leo’s face blushed as bright as his face markings as his mind latched on to the question. It would tickle more if it was on his leg or something. Like if it was tied around his thigh? Then he would truly explode.
And unfortunately, his tendency to ramble meant he accidentally said that out loud. To which Donnie finally turned towards him again.
_._._
“Oh I bet they have more fun tickling me than you!”
Leo looked at Mikey like he had grown a second head. “What?”
“You heard me!” Mikey leaned back confidently with his arms crossed. “The tickle monsters of the family definitely prefer tickling me. I’m just so much cuter when tickled.”
“What!” Leo exclaimed again. “Everyone knows that the face man of the group is always the cutest. No matter the situation.”
“Nuh uh! My laughter is so much cuter than your snorting!”
“Snorting!” Leo clutched his chest. “I don’t snort!”
“Then take my bet!” Mikey cheered.
And that was the context for how Mikey and Leo both charged into Raph and demanding to be tickled. The competition once again blinding them to what they were actually asking.
But Raph was definitely not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Before they could realise the danger they’ve put themselves in, he scooped them both up on his arms. Using a hand on each to tickle both of their sides.
Making them both burst into adorable bright baby brother laughter.

I’m here for the angsty shit >:) Would you maybe consider writing something where (2018) Raph finds out his boyfriend (male reader, he/it pronouns if possible) has been hiding a pretty severe wound from him? Idk I just thought it might be a good idea. Feel free to ignore this btw lol. Thanks in advance! <3
Not to Worry
Coming right up! (Sorry it took a bit for me to get to, I tend to write on my weekends/breaks.) I actually love this prompt, so I'll try my best!

The whole gang was trying to recover from a nasty fight, one of the worst they'd ever had.
April and (Y/N) were helping Leo patch up his arm, that had nearly been cut off, and Raph was checking Donnie and Mikey for any injuries.
Leo let out a sigh, shaking his head.
"That was crazy."
Everyone agreed, it was such a jarring fight that even Leo couldn't make a joke or pun out of it. Raph was putting bandaids all over his younger brothers when April caught sight of a bright red blotch staining (Y/N)'s side.
"(Y/N)-" April seemed alarmed, grabbing him by his arm and turning him to get a better look. (Y/N) grabbed her wrist, taking it in its own and giving her a warning look. "But-" It shook his head and April seemed to back down, though her face said she didn't feel good about it.
Leo observed what happened, looking at (Y/N) with worry.
"We need to clean that up," he whispered, so just (Y/N) and April heard it.
"I'm fine," he insisted, clearing his throat as it finished wrapping Leo's arm.
Leo and April shared a look, April biting her lip with furrowed brows.
Soon Raph and (Y/N) sent everyone off to bed, offering to take April home (which she rejected).
"Are you okay? No injuries?" (Y/N) asked when they were alone, glancing at Raph.
"Nothing on me. You?"
Raph was wary, usually when they were alone (Y/N) would take him into its arms and hold him. Maybe they'd watch a movie or (Y/N) would read him to sleep.
But no, (Y/N) was clumsily straightening up the kitchen, putting supplies away with shaking hands. What Raph didn't know was that the blood loss was getting to (Y/N).
You see, the reason (Y/N) didn't want to tell Raph was Raph was a mother hen, of sorts. He'd worry and worry and then lecture (Y/N) about being more careful- hell, he would even ban him from working with them anymore. That was the last thing (Y/N) wanted, so hiding it and fixing it later seemed to be the best option.
"Honey?" Raph called, worried gaze fluttering over (Y/N)'s body. He stopped with a gasp as he saw the giant red spot of his blood seeping through his shirt.
Raph came forward and caught his wrist, turning it to face him as Raph's gaze darted between the wound and (Y/N)'s face.
"Can I see it?" Raph as quietly, trying to stay calm. He knew how (Y/N) felt when he overreacted- and even though he knew the situation called for such a reaction, he knew (Y/N) still wouldn't appreciate it.
With a timid nod, (Y/N) allowed Raph to lift up his shirt, gently brushing his fingers around the stab wound. (Y/N) hissed with pain and one of his hands went to the counter to support himself, his white-knuckle grip keeping him from buckling.
Raph noticed this and lifted (Y/N) up onto the counter, leaning down to get a better look. Sighing, Raph shook his head and started cleaning it.
(Y/N) winced and groaned, though he was trying to keep in his sounds of pain, they slipped through. Raph held up his hand and allowed (Y/N) to take it, gripping it to release some of the pain.
Neither of them said a word as Raph worked, (Y/N) staring dejectedly at the wall behind Raph's shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Raph eventually broke the silence, wrapping gauze around (Y/N)'s torso to keep the padding there.
(Y/N) gulped and took in a breath, "I didn't want to worry you."
Raph finally finished, allowing (Y/N)'s blood stained shirt to drop back down over the now bandaged wound.
Bringing up both three fingered hands, Raph took (Y/N)'s face in them. Staring deeply into its eyes Raph gave him a small smile.
"I always worry over you, whether you're hurt or not. Not telling me will just make it worse, sweetheart," he whispered.
(Y/N) gave him a small, sheepish smile as his hands came up to hold Raph's wrists, turning his head to kiss Raph's palm.
"I'm sorry. I'll tell you next time, I promise," (Y/N) responded, whispering too as to not disturb the atmosphere.
"Good," Raph gave it a toothy smile. "Now come on, we've got to finish that book." Raph chuckled as (Y/N) let out a laugh, lifting him up and carrying him to the couch to let him read to him.

There ya go! I hope I did the pronouns right, I'm still trying to get familiar with writing multiple pronouns for a character!
And sorry this took so long, it sat in my drafts while I forgot about it 😅
Hope you're having a great day, anon!

Ooh! A potential freebee from one of my favorite creators on here, how could I resist! Okay, if it's something you'd be interested in (and if you don't vibe with it absolutely NO worries at all), how about any turtle of your choice, any format you want with a s/o that tends to downplay if they're ever sick or hurt because they always worry about burdening others unnecessarily.
Hi anon!!!! This feels like a Leonardo kinda situation, so imma roll with it 😎
Have a bonus Leo pic, as a lil' treat 💙

Burden (Leonardo x Reader)
Ever since you've woke up this morning, there was this tingly feeling in your throat. At first you tried to dismiss it by drinking lots of water, but the inevitable was soon brought to light as the day went by; a dreaded cold had now invaded your body.
It was no surprise in a sense. The arrival of Fall, the shift in temperature, not always knowing what kind of clothing to wear (weather forecast, more like weather forlie). The symptoms were there: a sore throat, body ache, stuffy nose, and the occasional cough. By the end of the day you felt like death, yet you didn't want that to interfere with your plans tonight. Getting to spend an evening with your terrapin lover, Leonardo, had become a rare feat these days, due to additional patrol nights and intensified training sessions. Foot clan activity over Manhattan had amplified over the last few weeks, so the turtles were needed more than ever. Whenever there was a glimpse of some downtime for them, you both had to see eachother - an undeniable law.
Your trek through the sewers seemed to take forever, your steps a little slower than usual and generally feeling heavier due to your generalized body ache. As you neared the lair's entrance however, you took a moment to readjust your stance, wanting to dismiss your general grogginess and appear somewhat normal. Stepping in, it didn't take long before you were greeted with some closeby "hellos", each turtle occupied, yet remaining polite. As you made your way towards Leo's room, you did notice how Donnie was slightly frowning in your general direction, somehow concerned. Ah shit, was your nose running again? It was probably red now from all the tissues you've gone through... Your pace quickened a little, obviously evading any questionnaire that could come from the bespectacled mutant. You reached Leo's room entrance, first resting at a column nearby and taking back your breath. Shit, was it always this hot down here? Your eyes scanned the environment, then noticing the blue banded turtle looking your way, katana in hand as he was in the process of sharpening it - but now stopped as soon as he noticed your ... entrance.
"You good?" he asked, arching a brow ridge.
You let out a quick, sharp exhale, slightly nodding as you made your way in his direction.
“Yeah, sure. Just a bit tired today.”
You sat next to him, at the edge of the bed. The small wince on your features accompanying your moves did not go unnoticed, the terrapin preferring to leave his blade aside as he then brought the back of his hand over your forehead.
“Leo, what-?”
“You’re boiling hot, love.”
You tried to dismiss his hand: “Walking to this place with my layers of clothing probably caused that.”
“Don’t try to fool me, your voice sounds raspy as well.” he brought a finger below your jaw, getting a feel of your lymph nodes. They were obviously swollen due to your sore throath.
You rolled your eyes, your stature slightly slumping in this small defeat.
“Alright, mother hen. I have a small cold. Happy?”
Leo got up, aiming for a small wooden box nearby that contained different types of tea. The concern he was now experiencing could be clearly heard in his tone:
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I would’ve made my way to your place instead of having you get down here.”
“It’s no big deal, Leo, I’m okay.”
“You’re sick. You’re not okay.”
“Who cares?! It’ll be gone in a couple of days. For the rare time you’re not out on patrol, I didn’t want to bother you more and have you on the move simply to see me.”
His attention snapped back to you, somehow confused.
“What the heck are you going on about? Going to your place is not an issue for me! Hell, that would even have given us more privacy. ... I could use the time away from my brothers,” he muttered next.
“You’re already occupied as it is,” you added. “If I can give you a break by me making the moves once in a while, I won’t say no to that. I don’t want to burden you...”
His gaze softened, a quiet sigh escaping him. He closed the wooden box, still keeping it with him as he sat back down by your side. His blue eyes found yours, clearly wanting to put an emphasis on his words.
“You’re not a burden.” A quick huff of a laugh left your lips, trying to turn your attention away, but he brought you back to him, gently cupping your cheek. “Look ... I get it,” he continued. “Sometimes showing weakness is hard. Sometimes asking for people to act in your stead is annoying - especially if you’re so used to doing everything by yourself. ... But others’ happiness and well-being does not have to rely on you solely, believe me.”
Your brows furrowed a little, his words making sense in this present hazy brain of yours. You brought a hand to his, your thumb slowly stroking his scales.
“I have days I feel like complete shit,” he continued. “Either my body hurts from training, or my mood is just not at the right place and I feel like I don’t deserve to be a leader. ... I keep on going and I keep it to myself, when I should be more open about that. I get it,” he reiterated.
He showed a soft smile next: “We’re two stubborn bitches that won’t ask for help when we need it most.”
That brought you to laugh, that sentence catching you off-guard. Pleased with your reaction, the mutant moved to leave a kiss to your forehead, tenderly nuzzling your hair afterward.
“Promise me next time you don’t feel good you’ll let me know?” Leo asked.
“Only if you tell me when you’re not doing so good yourself in return.”
“I’ll gladly accept those terms.”
Straightening his sitting position, he then reopened the wooden box he kept close, showing the many tea bags inside.
“Pick your poison,” he said jokingly. Then adding with a wink: “Although green tea’s where the real magic at.”
“Whatever you say, doctor,” you added with a playful smile in return.

Chapter 4 Part 1
Last night was a blur.
Hours spent talking and arguing with their dad. Trying to stay up later and find out every possibility of what could have happened to Mikey. All just to be left back where it all started.
Leo stood there alone on the rooftop across from Eastman High. Raph had locked himself up in the bottom bunk. And Donnie. . . Leo could only hope that he would actually unfreeze from the numb gaze he kept since the night before.
That was when Leo came to a scary realization.
They had never been so separated before.
Sure now that the turtles all had their own separate friend groups and activities. But they had never all been alone. Usually they were always at least a phone call away.
But now Leo had to face the school day alone. And on top of that he was the only one who could and needed to ask for the help of their one true best friend. The one who stuck by the boys through thick and thin. The one they all shared but in completely separate ways.
Of course it was up to the eldest and most responsible brother to handle the heavy burden. Alone. With a life on the line.
Leo thought back to one of his earliest memories. He and Mikey were venturing out into the sewers racing to their usual swimming spot. They were probably about 4 or 5 years old then with Leo just an hour or two closer to aging up than his other brothers. Though they never talked about it until the boys started finding out that siblings had an age order Leo was always assumed to be the eldest. The mother hen. The boss of the brothers.
Even their dad would ask out of all of them for him to do the hardest and most important tasks. Like babysitting while he went to get supplies or making sure Mikey and Donnie wouldn’t get hurt. That pair was always assumed as the younger and delicate ones being smaller and having softer shells than Leo and Raph.
As the two ran, feeling the wind against their cheeks, their feet splashed in the little stream running through the tunnel. “Wait up Leo” Mikey giggled stumbling behind his brother. Eventually the tunnel met an end and Leo paused looking down from the tiny ledge to take a breath. This part of the sewer was his favorite. The lake-like body of water was perfect for swimming. It was like a private beach only known to the inhabitants of the sewers. The turtle tot breathed in and out slowly taking in the smell of salty water pouring in from the Hudson.
“Watch out!!” Mikey yelped as he slipped onto his back and continued sliding towards Leo at top speed. “Wha- oof” Leo managed to turn around right Mikey’s shell came slamming into his chest knocking them both off the side of the ledge.
“Eeugh. Mikey what the-“ Leo said rubbing his head as he looked around to see nothing on the little beach.
“Mikey. Mi-ike.” He called as he turned around to his little brother. He was tucked under the pipe entrance hugging his knees and whimpering and chirping every minute or so. Blood slowly dripped down from his knee. “Oh mi gosh! Mikey! Are you ok?”
Mikey shook his head. Tears glazed over his eyes. “My knee. I want papa.”
Their dad was on a scavenging errand trying to find things that would be helpful towards trying to survive down there. Leo was supposed to be keeping them in the lair. Not goofing around getting his brothers hurt. “It’s-It’s ok. It’s just a little scrap” Leo was stuttering like he always did when he was nervous.
But he couldn’t be right now because his brother needed him.
‘Cmon Leo you can do this. Your brother needs you.’
After a few deep breaths he continued to comfort Mikey. “It’s ok. You’re gonna be just fine.” Mikey looked at his brother. Fear didn’t fill his eyes just sincerity and love. His whimpers turned into sniffles and his eyes focused on his brother.
“Can you let me carry you? We can do a piggyback ride home if you can be strong enough for it.”.Leo had him at piggyback. Mikey raised his arms and immediately started gripping the air. Mikey loved to be carried especially by his older brothers since they would rarely do it. Leo giggled as he lifted his little brother onto his back.
“Hey Leo.” Mikey whispered. “Mm hm”. “I love you bro.”
Leo stared at his drama king of a brother. “You’re not dying.”. “I know!” Mikey answered annoyed. After a long period of silence, Mikey squeezed his brother just a tiny bit tighter. “I just wanna tell you that. Cause I mean it.”
Leo was kind of shocked by how serious his baby brother was being.
“Yeah I love you too. But everything’s gonna be ok. You’re strong.”
Leo blinked himself back to the present. He took a few deep breaths and made his way to homeroom.
“You’re strong”
So just a quick peak in and out of the brothers past.

Everyone makes Leo the angst dump cause he's got a lot of hidden issues but I would like to propose some Raph Angst™️ to yall
Spoilers for the movie
After the Kraang, the vision Raph's right eye is either gone, or severely impacted. Even if he can see some, it's still blurry as hell and he can't read or see clearly with it. And if he's blinded, well... He can't see anything on that side.
His brothers are dealing with a lot afterwards. Not only did Leo almost die, alone and separate from his brothers, but they're all hurting from the fight itself. So, when asked how he's doing, Raph minimizes the damage, skips over his eye.
Raph has nightmares for weeks after about his time with the Kraang. Memories twisted into terrifying imaginations. He sees himself kill his brothers more than once. He feels the tendrils of whatever made up the Kraang on his face, on his arm.
While he was caught by the Kraang, he fought tooth and nail to get out, or to at least hurt them. In response... They did things to him Raph doesn't want to remember. Mostly just torture. Not enough to kill him or make him useless to the plan, of course, but Raphael screamed until his voice went hoarse.
Despite years of self discipline and training, Raph looses control of his strength a lot more after the Kraang. Donnie says they must have done something to his nervous system... But it scares him, and he obsesses over controlling his own body again to an unhealthy degree.
Raphael discovers what triggers are when someone accidentally hits the right side of his face, close to his eye. Combined with the above point, he lashes out and destroys/hurts someone. After he's horrified by himself, and beats himself up for it.
Raph listens to his brothers issues, putting them before his own and trying to help them out as much as he can. When his bros try to return the favor, he brushes them off. He mother hens over his family more than usual, sometimes being a little too concerned about them and annoying them.
While he's silent during the nightmares, he moves quite a lot during them and even ended up on the floor on one occasion. Sometimes he'll even find himself standing up in the middle of his room, suddenly awake. That causes him to lock and chain his door at night, and now he spends them alone, trying and failing to sleep.
Raph is exhausted, not sleeping well, still stumbling into walls occasionally, still training whenever he can to get his body under control. He starts staying up all night to train in his room quietly. He's not doing so well and it's starting to show...
The next time they have to do hero work, Raph is reluctant, trying to talk things out with the other mutant attacking them. When that inevitably fails, he struggles to defend himself, trying to hold back while also being unable to react to half of the hits he's taking. His brothers finally confront him together, worried about him and noting all of his strange behaviors. But the mutant they were fighting interrupts and cuts the conversation short.
Raph takes a hit for someone in the same was as he took one for Leo, though this time it doesn't pierce through his shell. Still, the experience is too close and triggers the memory of the Kraang invasion. Raph goes unresponsive while his brothers have to finish the mutant off and take Raph home.
Bonus (Leo): Leo thinks he knows what is going on with Raph but is reluctant to say anything because Leo has been going through a similar thing and hasn't been open about it. Telling Mikey and Donnie would practically be snitching on himself.
