when Leia visits Like in tl(4)j, does she bring along c3po? would all the padawans find him annoying? would Dar'shanna spend hours asking him questions? would the beef between him and r2d2 cause a r2-chopper alliance?
omg the 2nd idea i love that

TOO SWEET
Pairing: Obi wan Kenobi x female! Jedi! Reader
Warnings: reader has near death experience and Obi wan isnât too happy with his âfriendâ
Word count: 378
Obi wan came running into the medical wing of the Jedi temple on Coruscant, a determined look on his face, also one of worry, you were laying in a bed, half asleep on the meds they gave you.
He nearly broke down in tears as he saw you..he was your âfriendâ or a Jedi master, you where close with, you were also a Jedi. Growing up with Obi Wan in the Jedi Order.
He gently cupped your face, you two had been unofficially together for months now, hiding it from the order as attachments where forbidden. For any Jedi, let alone two well respected Jedi masters..
âTheyâre letting me out soon Obi, calm downâ you say softly, with a small smile on your face, he cared so much about you it was quite cute actually, he dropped everything to make sure you where okay..
âOh good..maker you seriously scared me..â He says as he gently touches your hair, looking at you with such soft eyes that it could melt the coldest of hearts.
You had to giggle, couldnât help yourself, his big hands wrapped around your hand dad make you blush. âObi..weâre in the hospital wing not hereâ you say quietly and he blushes and quickly pulls his hand away mumbling something about an apology
Once the nurses released you, Obi Wan had grabbed you into his quarters, throwing you on the bed and throwing a blanket at you, getting into bed beside you still in his robes.
âYouâ kiss âscaredâ kiss âmeâ kiss. You did love his kisses. Something about him always made you feel so special, ever since you two were small children you two have always had a connection, from late night lightsaber training when you two where padawan learners, to late night studying sessions, to late meditation to..enjoying each other in a different sense..
He wrapped his big arms around you, suffocating you in a hug as he kissed your hair, gently putting his chin against your head, whispering soft words to you as you drifted off asleep, the last words you can remember where.
âGoodnight Mi gorffen chi bonnieâ he says, in stewjon, the language in his home planet meaning âI love you Beautifulâ
You loved him and he loved you..screw the Jedi order.

a/n hey people! itâs the first time i write something like this. the fic is divided in tiny chapters that are titled by the lines of taylorâs song (see title) i hope itâs easy to understand and let me know if you like the format ⥠enjoy!
I. First sight, we love without reason.
It came to you as a surprise, really. The moment he sat down on the nearest seat to start the tutoring lesson. The secret is Eddie has always been good at English, itâs a thing among others that he kept as a secret. You werenât sure why he would hide it, even lie about it.
You and Eddie became friends easily. But you wish the relationship had more meaning, you werenât friends just school friends. The worst kind of friend you could be with someone as cool and pretty as Eddie.
One day, in the early morning of a cloudy Thursday Eddie attended school with a black eye. He rushed past you mumbling a kind Hey and going his way. You said hi back but it was too late, he was gone.
You missed him the rest of the day, he didnât show up to class. His friends were alone at lunch. There was no sign of Eddie until later, tutoring sessions.
He slumps on the chair next to you, taking a deep breath and scratching his scalp nervously. His hands were shaking as he started to scribble on your textbook.
Your mind wasnât focused on the textbook once, you looked longingly at the maroon-tinted bruise on his eye. A cut, maybe 12 hours old, rested on the bridge of his nose.
âSorry if Iâm interruptingâ you whispered âI canât keep my eyes offâŚyour⌠are you okay, Eddie?â you pointed your finger at his eye, and he turned his head to look at you.
âYeah, no donât worryâ he sighs, shifting uncomfortably in the wooden chair and taking a deep look at your face.
Your mouth has formed a pout and your brows are furrowed, Eddie tried to read your mind and he succeeded. You were worried.
âMy stupid older brother, he comes in unexpectedly, and when I tried to kick him out of the trailer he punched meâ
âOh, Iâm so sorry Eddieâ You lean your head to the side, his face looks better from this angle.
He looks tired, the punch looks like it hurts a lot, more if it came from a person of his own bloodline.
âYou know what, we can study another time and you can go restâ Your hands are quick to close the textbook, gathering all your stuff as Eddieâs body comes closer to you.
He takes your wrist on his hand, with a little more pressure than intended. When your mouth leans to the side he realizes he is hurting you (not too much, but still he didnât mean it).
âNo, I'm sorryâ he drops your hand on your lap, delicately âWe can study, I'm fine. Please I need the moneyâ
âI know, I will pay you. But I canât sit here and I can't focus knowing you are in pain or your mind is somewhere elseâ You smile at him, and he nods.
âThanksâŚI'm having a really bad day. I cannot thank you enough, tomorrow we can study double I promiseâ
âDonât worry, I got youâ You head out of the library beside him âTake care of that, it looks like itâs going to stay there for a whileâ
He giggles at your comment, you are not sure why. You pay him for today and he smiles at you.
âThank you, Peachâ
He didnât talk about his family much, he wasnât entirely sure if there was something interesting to talk about. His mom left a few years ago, along with his older brother, leaving little Eddie and Uncle Wayne alone.
You knew Wayne from one of Eddieâs stories he told you about. He loves the man like he is his own father, but he is in a lot of debt with him.
Wayne takes care of Eddie as if heâs his own child. He surely loves Eddie like that. He works most of the day and night leaving his nephew alone in the trailer park.
One of those cold and lonely nights Eddieâs brother came to visit him at the trailer park only seeking some money. He was out of luck, and so was Eddie, when his furious brother came in and punched him in the face. Not once, but twice.
Eddieâs head and face hurt the rest of the night. He unfortunately overslept and didnât get a chance to start school properly so he chose to show up just to the tutoring sessions. He needed the cash, you needed help.
II. Picture of your face in an invisible locket.
A week has passed since Eddieâs brother came to town. Youâve grown closer to Eddie than before.
You hang out after school now that tutoring lessons are over, he invites you to Hellfire Club to watch the campaigns and you sit there watching the whole thing unravel. He had a great imagination, and a wonderful mind full of creative stories and riddles. The kids enjoy his company as much as you do.
He talked about his problems at home with you, trying to get the ugly feeling out of his chest. You listened to him buying him a cup of ice cream and enjoying the wonderful summer breeze.
âI enjoy being with you,â he said âYou are a great friend, Peachâ
You smiled at him. He smiled at you. His dimples showed up for the first time since youâve known him, a simple gesture that knocked some sense on you, you had a crush on him.
âMe too, Edsâ
Your relationship with Eddie has evolved, not only do you have pet names for each other but it seems like you are best friends. Itâs been some weeks since the first time he offered to tutor you and you accepted immediately.
Youâve always liked Eddie, he is his true self every time and he is proud of it.
You admire it.
People at school used to call him awful names, it was always like that until he met Chrissy. The popular kids are the ones that make more fun of him as if it wasnât exhausting for them to be assholes and jerks nine hours a day. They have toned their jokes down knowing that the queen of Hawkins has a soft place for Eddie and he is more than happy hanging out with her sometimes.
That made your heart ache, it was a dreadful feeling.
After spending some time with Eddie you went home. Still under that lavender haze of accepting that you had a crush on him for a while. It was embarrassing to you only because you were so, so obsessed with him.
His face. His hands. His scent. His hair. Realizing everything about him made you crazy was scary, he only had eyes for one person who was the most perfect cheerleader in the history of high school.
To distract your mind from all the lousy thoughts you took a shower, it was quick, you needed to brush off the sweat and release some tension with a thorough massage on your scalp. The lavender shampoo lingered in the air, relaxing every inch of your body.
After the shower, it was time to eat some dinner. Instead of making a complicated meal you decided to heat some leftovers from yesterday and enjoy your evening eating and dancing in the kitchen with some of your old records playing upbeat songs to cheer you up.
A knock on your door makes you jump after finishing dinner. No one used to come by at this hour, not when your dad was out of town.
You get close to the door and look through the peephole to see whoâs interrupting your godly moment. It was Eddie.
A gasp falls out of your mouth and you open the door as quickly as possible. You meet Eddieâs trembling body standing in front of you, his lip is bleeding and his eyes are watering.
âGod, EdsâŚâ you whisper, he leans closer to you, wrapping his hands around your neck and hugging you.
You didnât say anything else, just mirrored his movements and wrapped his waist with your arms. Taking a few steps back and leading him in, you close the door with your foot and he stands there, still not letting you go.
You rub his back as he tries to ease his breath.
âIâm so sorry, I didnât know where else to go so I-â he takes a step back breaking contact with you, his head falls as his eyes look at his feet.
âHe, he did this to you again?â he broke contact so fast you decided to stay in your place, careful not to overwhelm him with unwanted touches.
âYeah, shit shit, sorry I should've called. My mind sort of blacked out and the only thing I could remember was your street and the color of your house, the one with the weird birdhouseâŚâ
âEds, itâs okayâ you interrupt âLet me help you, alright? let me clean your wound and make you some hot chocolateâ
He nods, walking with you to the bathroom and past your bedroom. You are quick to find the first aid kit, taking some rubbing alcohol and gauze to clean Eddieâs cut. He hisses at the stingy feeling in his mouth, you apologize and he encourages you to continue.
And there you are, with the boy that you like so much. He leans on the counter closing his eyes and allowing himself to feel at peace with you around him.
You stand between his legs, his inner thighs rubbing the exposed skin of your thighs. The ungodly thoughts need to go away so you blink pretty fast, focusing, itâs not the moment nor the place nor the person.
You finish up cleaning his wound and placing a band aid over it to avoid any sort of discomfort while it heals.
âItâs readyâ Eddie opens his eyes, finding you in front of him. So close. The white light in the bathroom makes you look like an angel.
âThank you, peachâ he squeezes your cheek slightly. Neither of you move from where you stand, so close to each other but so far at the same time.
âItâs nothing, letâs make you some chocolateâ
âWait, I'm not really hungry. I need to clear my mind and feel at peace for a bit, âm just gonna go back to my place to rest but again⌠thank youâ he stands up straight and you step back, missing the heat of his body.
âNo! you canât go back, it's dangerous. My dad is out of town, you can stay hereâ
His head leans down to one side, he looks at you concerned.
âReally?â
âYeah, of course. Anything for my best friendâ you say. Itâs the first time you call him like that. Itâs the first time anybody has called him like that.
âThank you, again, thank youâ
âNo problem, let me get you some fresh clothesâ
You get Eddie some of your oversized clothes that only get out of your closet on rainy days. You give him some space to change and freshen up in the bathroom, getting him a new toothbrush and a towel so he can wash his face.
When he gets out you offer him the guest room, he immediately denies it and asks if he can sleep with you. You shake your head and show him a gentle smile.
âIs this okay? I donât want to make you uncomfortable or bother youâ he asks while you get the bed ready to sleep.
âItâs okay, Eds. I get that you donât want to be alone, do not worryâ
You get in bed, he drops his body beside you. Both of you rest your head on the pillows while looking at the ceiling.
âYou can stay here in the morning if you donât want to go to school, I do have to go and hand in this paper Iâve been working onâ
âThank you, I owe you one,â he says, crossing his arms in front of his chest and letting out a sigh.
âYou donât, Iâm happy to help youâ You look at him, but he doesnât look back. âGoodnight, Edsâ
âGoodnight, sweetheartâ
The pet name falls from his lips so beautifully.
You close your eyes with a smile plastered on your face, aware that the heat of your cheeks is present leaving a pink tint.
You are thankful itâs dark and Eddie is about to fall asleep so he wonât notice.
When you fall asleep Eddie does too. It takes him a couple of seconds to get into a deep sleep, he hasnât slept like this in weeks, all thanks to the torture of his stupid brother and the constant thought of him coming back to punch him.
He feels safe around you and he is more than grateful to be your friend.
III. âCause itâs gravity, keeping you with me.
Eddie has been staying over at your house multiple times, Your dad is out of town and you appreciate the company, his company. Sometimes he comes with you right after school, other times after he hangs out with Chrissy. You are not sure of what kind of relationship they have but it still hurts your heart every time he laughs at something she says.
You are thankful for having him over. The nights consist of movies, old tv shows, watching the commercials on the tv, and listing in your head what to buy next for these reunions.
The last slice of pizza remains in the box, it should be cold and washy but
Eddie is fine with it. He watches you from the corner of his eye, your gaze glued to him.
âSorry, did you want the last slice?â His voice snaps you out of your thoughts into reality.
âHuh? No, no you have itâ
âSure?â
âI hate it when the pizza is coldâ Your mouth falls to the side, and you look at the slice with disgust.
âBummer, Iâll have this baby for myselfâ
He raises his hand with the slice between his fingers, his head falls to the back and he takes a bite of the tip of the slice. You watch him in awe, not really thinking about how weird it is to watch Eddie eat, but your eyes can never leave his face. His mouth opens and his jaw tightens when he takes a bite, and another, and another until he finishes it.
âDonât know why you pushed this aside, it was so goodâ
The corner of his mouth is full of tomato sauce and cheese grease, you laugh at him shaking your head.
âYou have something⌠thereâ you point with your finger, Eddie furrows his brows and leans his head to the side looking like a confused puppy.
âWhere? Here?â He wipes his mouth and smiles victorious, although it is the opposite side.
âNo, hereâ
You get closer to him. His body is fully turned to the left so you sit in front of him kneeling.
He watches you getting close, he takes a deep breath as his Adamâs apple bobs as a result of his own nerves. You are too close, youâve never been this close âjust once when he hugged you â not even when you two are sleeping in your bed.
As you take the napkin to clean his face you get the opportunity to get closer, you wipe his mouth slowly and pinch his chin between your fingers. You breathe and he is mixing up, the room feels suddenly too hot.
Eddie wants to give in, he gets his head closer. He doesn't care about anything, just you. The only source of light is the TV which gives a shadow of multiple colors on your face, itâs adorable. Your body, your naked thighs, your pretty face so close. He is about to kiss you until you speak.
Shit.
âCan I ask you a question?â
âShootâ
âHow do you punch someone?â you ask, he shakes his head confused shaking off the thoughts he had earlier. He was so close to kissing you, but he couldnât. You are his best friend.
âWow,â Eddie laughs, grinning âWho do you want to punch, exactly?â
âI met someoneâ
Your news hit Eddie in the chest. He shouldnât be feeling like this but he is⌠jealous?
âHe told me to go to this party with him⌠and a friend told me I should be prepared for everythingâ
âEverything? Like if he wants to get in your pants youâd punch him?â
âOnly if he is a real jerk and thinks he is too smartâ
Eddie nods, he takes your hands in his standing up from the couch. You follow him.
âAlright, pay attentionâ
He drops one of your hands and takes your dominant hand in his, the cold rings on his fingers keep you from falling apart from his touch.
âThe secret is in your hips and shoulders, thatâs where the power comes from okay?â
âYeah, but please donât teach me how to kill someone. I just want to throw a little punch if neededâ
âI know, peachâ he laughs âStand up like thisâ His stance looks professional, maybe he has done this before. Maybe to protect himself from his older brother.
âFirst things first, your stance gives you balance so you donât fall to the floor and break your nose too yâknow?â
âAm I going to break his nose?â you ask, a little scared of what you are getting yourself into.
âNo! âM just saying. You donât have a lot of strength to do that, donât worryâ
âLike this?â You mimic his stance, feeling a little awkward.
"Exactly. Now, focus on your fistâ He hasnât dropped your hand yet âCurl your fingers in, and tuck your thumb under them. This way, you won't hurt your hand when you punchâ
âWhy do I feel like I shouldn't be learning this?â
âYou are fine, watchâ Your hands form a perfect fist, Eddie holds it in his hands and tries to set you up on the perfect stance. Your knuckles turn a bit white as you focus on the lesson âSee? Perfectâ
âI got itâ
"Now punch me,â he says, he is serious.
âWhat?â
âCâmon Iâve taken the worst punches, bet yours will feel light as a featherâ he grins. Inside he feels dumb for aching your touch so much even if it means taking a hit âTwist your body and extend your arm in a straight line, then go straight to my cheekâ his fingertip touches his cheek âNot my nose! Pleaseâ he remarks, but at the same time he is encouraging you.
âAlright,â you do as he says, swinging your arm back and forth. Your fist comes into contact with his cheek and he groans in pain, his head falls to one side.
âJesus H. Christ!â he caresses his cheek with the palm of his hand âI underestimated youâ A chuckle falls from his lips, and you are covering your mouth with your hands surprised. Your eyes are glassy.
âNo, no donât cry Iâm fineâ
âIâm so sorry Eddie. I thought- fuck, I didnât see that coming! I am so fucking-sorry, sorryâ you cry, your cheeks glow red as embarrassment washes over you.
âNo, donâtâ he is still laughing âOh god, come hereâ
Eddie opens his arms and wraps them around your shoulders. This is the second time you hug him, and this time it feels different. One of his hands rubs your back to calm you down as you keep murmuring sorry. He keeps thinking you are the most adorable thing on the planet.
âDo we count this as tutoring? Am I getting cash for getting punched in the face?â he chuckles.
You bury your face in his chest, hugging his body tightly. He feels you trying to get closer.
âYeah, yeah if you wantâ
âI'm joking, peach, you did good!â
You smile at the praise, although he canât see it.
âThank you for teaching meâ
âNah, donât worry about it. It was a pleasureâ he breaks the hug, and his hands come to rest on your arms. He is not giving up touching you âI hope whoever you punch⌠you do it harder than this oneâ he smiles.
As you watch his face, hypnotized, you smile back.
âI will, only if he is a jerkâŚâ
âOr thinks he is too smart, gotchaâ he interrupts, filling up the rest of the sentence âBut you know if someone bothers you, you can call me and I will kick his ass right?â
âIâm a big girl, Eds. I can take care of myselfâ
âThat I see! âM just offering, You did good honeyâ He pinches your cheek, and the new pet name hits right above your stomach where your anxiety rests. He has never called you that before, you feel the heat on your cheeks.
âWe- uhm, we should sleep is getting lateâ You watch the clock, it is 3 am already.
âOh shit, yeah. Letâs goâ
IV. Iâm a mess but iâm the mess that you wanted.
Watching Eddie kissing Chrissy was a punch on the tits. His hands are on her waist, she grabs his jacket getting closer. Their mouths were glued to each other. You were sure this was the night, this was the night you would tell Eddie your feelings, but instead, you decided to meet up with the guy you told him about. Ignoring your feelings for Eddie.
Nothing ever comes out as you wish, after punching the guy for trying to touch your ass after he didnât even know you were in his math class, you punched him. Your hand hurts, but it was worth it.
You try to find Eddie but he isnât around. Ignoring the feeling in your chest, you decide to fill the guilt and the secrets with alcohol.
After a lot of refills, the living roomâs bottles are empty so you make your way around the house to find more. Thatâs when you find Eddie, you take your sixth? seventh? Cup of the night and walk to him.
âEds!â
Your voice is like honey to him, he didnât want to be here but as soon as Chrissy mentioned you were coming with âthe guyâ he wanted to be there. She was nowhere to be seen after spending some time with him.
âI did it! I punched him!â you mumble, proud of your achievement and so, so drunk.
âFuck, I missed it?â
âYeah, I have been looking for you everywhere to tell youâ You lie, youâve seen him multiple times and ignored him. It was a decision that sober you took. Drunk you is a little more insistent âI didn't think you were comingâ
âChrissy wanted to be here, I'm just keeping her company⌠was, she leftâ he looks around, but she is still somewhere else.
Her name rings in your ears, your stomach crumbles.
âWell, letâs get drunk!â
Deep down Eddie is grateful that the guy you were meeting up with fucked up everything and now you are with him. Chrissy is nowhere to be seen and you seem like you need someone to watch you. Take care of yourself.
You are so drunk, your whole body feels light and your head is in the clouds. Maybe you are a little bit high too.
âCan we find somewhere more quiet? I wanna smokeâ Eddie finds himself screaming, the music getting louder with the minutes.
âSure, letâs goâ
You hold a red solo cup with something in it, enough to make you more tipsy. You follow Eddie outside, to the porch. The night is hot and Eddie realizes your dress is too short. He takes a deep breath, looking at your thighs as you take a sip from the cup.
Eddie lights a cigarette and takes a peek at the party from outside, The window leaves a space so the warm light of the house hits your face. The night at your house, the one when he almost kisses you comes back to his head. A side of your face lit up by the chaos inside, yet you look so peaceful, so beautiful.
âI need more of this. I- shit I forgot the n-nameâ you slur your words again, taking a step forward. Eddie takes your wrist in his hand, stopping you.
âWhat the fuuuuck?â you say.
âI think thatâs enough for today, letâs go homeâ
Your whole body is on fire, all of your insides begging for more alcohol.
âHome? What? I didnât know we lived together!â
âCâmon, peach. You know what I meanâ Eddieâs cigarette bounces on his mouth, his voice is firm and his free hand comes to cup your waist.
âNo, no. Letâs go dance hereâ You take his hand, the alcohol makes you bold. He follows you to the living room after dropping his cigarette.
The music is too loud, you empty the cup you had and throw it away.
âIâll be right back, need to take a piss'â Eddie says, disappearing. You donât hear him.
His âgirlfriendâ is still ignoring him, but he remembers what she said. She got mad because he was looking for you, and she got jealous too. Chrissy wanted all the attention but Eddie was giving it to you.
He stopped eating lunch with her, he was with you instead. Talking about random tv commercials that you thought were clever, it was some of an inside joke.
As he comes back from the bathroom he hears a crowd cheering, he is so done with this party, tired of the happy sappy music playing over and over, and the smell of sweat and alcohol makes him sick. He makes an effort to find you and he does.
There you are, standing on the table dancing. You were dancing, making some sexual moves that all the guys were screaming. Your hips move as the music gets to your ears, the whole room electrified by this little show.
Eddieâs face goes beet red, he canât take this. He isnât enjoying this.
Jealousy takes over him and he grabs your hand, yanking you down and letting you fall on his shoulder.
He carries you away from the table, a hand comes behind your back and he places his palm on your ass in an attempt to stop your dress from going up. You feel the cold of his rings again, your whole body lights up in anger as he carries you outside.
âLet me down! Eddie, I'm not joking!â
âWhine for as long as you want, Iâm taking you homeâ
âEddie please, I'm going to throw upâ
He gives up, he lets you down and you pick up your breath. You place a hand on your belly trying to steady yourself and make the nausea go away.
âI need a moment⌠just give me aââ
âNo! I know you will go back inside. You canât even walk by yourselfâ
âYes, I can! Donât- donât try to babysit meâ you bicker.
He lets out a deep sigh, he is not letting you go back and you know it.
He wants to protect you, but more, he wants you to be with him and not dancing and showing off for anybody else. Yes, he was jealous and it was time to admit it. His feelings for Chrissy were never as intense as what he feels when he is with you.
âSweetheart-â
âDonât call me that!â you scream, his eyes open wide.
âPlease just-â
He tries to hug you but you donât let him.
âI'm not your sweetheart! The other day you called me like that too and I- what are you doing to me?â
âI donât- fuck, what are you talking about?â Eddie is confused, you are acting like you donât want him around, and that hurts him.
âI- I like you, Eddie! I fucking like you so bad but you⌠You donât and I know it!â you have no time to breathe, the alcohol encourages you to confess your feelings.
âPeach-â
âNo! No, I- I like you since that first day of tutoring⌠Iâve liked you since then and you donât know how fucking hard it is to oh- sleep with you and you- almost fucking kissed me and I panicked. This, you, her- itâs too much ah- go away!â you cry out, your head is spinning and you can feel your temples aching.
This wasnât planned, future you will kill you for this. But right now in the heat of the moment, you let Eddie know how you feel. Your whole body aches and your heart is shattered.
âI know you like her! Just- I don't want to talk to you right now!â
A salty taste lingers in your mouth, your tears. Your arms ache from the sudden cold breeze as the night gets darker. Itâs maybe two or three in the morning. You are drunk and high. Eddieâs brain seems to stop working.
He is quiet, looking at the grass under his feet. It hurts seeing you like this.
âFuck!â you turn around and start walking, thinking you can walk home from here knowing itâs impossible.
âHey! Let me take you homeâ
You stop.
âPlease, I won't stay. Iâll drop you off and go to my trailer- you canât get home by yourselfâ he is right.
You donât move. Too heartbroken to say everything else or even turn around to see him. You are ashamed, he canât even look you in the eyes.
He sees you waiting for him and he asks you to follow him to his van.
The ride home is long and torturous. He didnât reciprocate your feelings, but you donât blame him. Who could fall for a mess like you?
You fall asleep in the passenger seat of his van, he opens the door carefully and carries you to your bed. He wants to change your clothes but he knows it is not okay, he does peek at your naked thighs before covering your body with the sheets.
His calloused fingers move the hair off your face âI like you too, peachâ He murmurs, leaning in to kiss your forehead before leaving. You canât hear him of course, he knows it damn well.
V. Deep fears that the world would divide us.
The last time you talked to Eddie was two weeks ago. He didnât know how to talk to you since that night, he didnât know what to tell you. It is now summer break, you are in your bed facing the ceiling and letting the air from your window hit your sweaty body.
You were so bored. Without Eddie it feels like the world just turned gray, you regret everything you said that night. He never shouldâve known.
He is now in his trailer, maybe with Chrissy. Your brain starts to think of a hundred scenarios. They could be spending time at the local pool, going to starcourt and eating ice cream, trying on some new clothes, or playing at the arcade.
You miss him. Your whole body aches without him by your side. Your bed feels so empty.
Tears start rolling down your cheeks, you are all alone in this gigantic house. It doesnât feel like home, not without him.
You canât pick a book and read it to kill time because every book you own is about romance.
You canât watch movies without Eddieâs sudden comments.
You canât even watch fucking commercials without him.
So you just let yourself on your bed, waiting for the sheets to swallow you whole.
Night came by after a nap, it was time to close the windows to stop the mosquitoes. It was time to eat so you headed down to the kitchen, the leftovers seem to always keep you company.
You wish he came back. Knocking at your door and getting in. Kissing you.
It doesnât happen. To you. But it can happen to him.
You take your keys in your hands and head down to the trailer park, it isnât that late so you go by yourself. With your clammy hands tapping on the steering wheel and a feeling of uncertainty.
It takes you from ten to fifteen minutes to get there and you park your car close to Eddieâs trailer. Youâve given him a ride home before, you know where he lives.
As you get closer to his trailer you hear screams. The door of his trailer opens suddenly and makes you jump. A tall and slightly old man comes out of the trailer, his white tank top is covered with some blood.
No, no, no. You mumble under your breath and run to the trailer. You find Eddie with a cut on his lip, his eye is purple already and his nose is bleeding.
âEddie?â you whisper, he panics.
âNo, no you canât be hereâ he gets up from the floor and places his hands on your arms, pushing you out.
âWhy? Please I just want to talkâ
âYou canât be here! He- if he does something to you Iâm never going to forgive myself Please just leaveâ his breath quickens, and his chest rises up and down. He is nervous, he is scared. The feelings are contagious.
âCome with me, please. Eds-â
âJust fucking leave! please please please, leave right nowâ
Nothing you do is going to convince him you should stay, as much as you want to. You hear screams of an angry man getting close to the trailer.
Running out back to your car and driving home, the radio becomes an annoying background noise screeching. Your heart is beating so fast out of fear, and your hands are trembling.
You set yourself down on your bed once you get home. You are scared of what could happen to Eddie. You know he is in danger and you also know he doesnât want to see you.
The tears come back, your eyes are blurry and the walls feel like they are closing in and are about to crush you. You cover yourself with the sheets, as some type of protection, just like when you were little and scared. Yes, you are scared now, so fucking scared. But there is nothing you can do now so you sleep, and you fall asleep crying, again.
VI. I'd kiss you as the lights went out.
The next day goes by quickly, itâs currently midnight and you are sitting in front of the tv watching a random documentary about dolphins. Youâve slept all day so sleep is not an option. A huge bucket of ice cream in your hands gives you a cold feeling of serenity.
A knock on the door makes you jump, the thing youâve been waiting for.
You open it quickly, and Eddie is there. You look at him with sadness in your eyes, some of his wounds have healed since yesterday.
âBefore you say anything⌠I am sorry, sweetheartâ You donât let him in, and he doesnât take a step forward âI like you too. I like you so much. I tried to date Chrissy because I thought I could get my mind distracted by the fact that I'm crazy for you. "He licks his lips, he moves his hands in the air as he always does when he explains something or rambles about a thing he loves.
âI was scared to tell you, that night at the party I swear all I could think about was- fuck, I wanted to rip those clothes off of you and kiss every part of your body but I was fucking terrifiedâ his chest rises up and down, his heart is bumping in his ribcage. âI didnât want to say anything becauseÂ
I didnât want to lose you, You are too good to me and I didnât want you to be with someone like me-â
âYou donât get to make that choice for meâ you interrupt, your own heart is beating so fast it could burst.
âI know, I know. Thatâs why I'm here⌠is it too late to hang out? Look, I slept all day and some little bird named Steve told me the sunrise at Lovers Lake looks awesome and I really just want to be with youâÂ
You look at him, he is standing at your door confessing his love to you and, weirdly, it doesnât feel like a dream. It all feels too real, too peaceful.
âA date at midnight? Did you plan this because you look like you even showeredâ
He lets out a big laugh. You see those dimples you love so much.
âI- I wouldnât see it as a date because I think weâve had tons of themâ he shakes his head, and his curls bounce with the movement. âPretty please? Join me on this adventureâ
âWe must be connected by some kind of thread because I slept all day tooâ you chuckle, he laughs with you âSure, I want to be with you. Let me change and Iâll be right backâ
You head upstairs quickly as Eddie goes back to his van for something.Â
With the quickest movements in the world, you manage to get yourself some pretty clothes, a tiny bit of makeup and fix your hair.
Running to the first floor to meet Eddie, your legs stop working as he stands up in your living room with a bouquet.
âYou did have this preparedâ You are smiling so wide your cheeks start to hurt, but you can stop it. After days of missing him, he is now here and everything feels right.
âI did. You look- you look beautifulâ he looks at you from the bottom to the top, taking every detail of your figure. âI mean, you always look so beautiful I just-â
You come closer to him, he hands you the bouquet and you take it.Â
âYou are beautiful too, Edsâ
Your fingers touch his cheeks, he feels the warmth and breathes in to take everything in. Your scent, your touch, the closeness. Your cheeks have a pink tint from blushing and it makes you look so pretty. He leans in and in a second, his lips are touching yours.
You gasp at the sudden feeling, your whole body electrifies. His hands come to rest on your lower back, keeping you close to him. Your hands travel to his shoulders as you stand on your tippy toes.
His lips trap your bottom lip, sucking in your taste. Your whole heart flutters as your head goes back to catch some air.
âI wanted to do that for so longâÂ
Goosebumps travel from your arms to your lips, missing him already.
âMe tooâ you bite your lip.
âCâmon, letâs go watch the sunrise sweetheartâ
VII. Deep blue but you painted me golden.
The trip to Lovers Lake in the middle of the night resulted in love confessions and a heavy make out session, Eddie packed the back of his van with christmas lights, sheets, and blankets along with some pillows.Â
You and Eddie sitting in front of each other, his lips crashing into yours as sweet as honey.
âSo yeah- that time when you sat down and started tutoring me I fought so hard to pay attention but I just loved the sound of your voiceâ You take a sip of beer.
âIt was hard to teach you when your confused face is just so adorable.Â
Every pout you gave me was a kiss I wanted to give youâ Eddie laughs.
âYou can give me all the kisses you want now, I'm all yoursâ
Eddieâs breath hitches in his throat, his face glows pink and you let out a chuckle.
âHoney, I willâ he takes a sip from his own beer, finishing it.
Alcohol makes both of you giddy, dozy, and dumb. Or maybe itâs just the love you have for each other.
âWhat time is it?â you murmur against his lips, his hands travel from your waist to the back of your head.
âI have- no ideaâ he stops, with his head leaned slightly back he watches you. Your lips are puffy and pink, his too. Both of you have a maroon tint on your cheeks. âItâs almost six, we have timeâ he peeks at the clock on his left hand.Â
âAlright, câmereâ With your hands placed on his shoulders, you try to get closer to him.Â
You kiss him. He is addicted to your taste already.Â
This time the kiss is messy and uncoordinated. His teeth collide with yours, saliva drops from the corner of your mouth.Â
With a firm hand caressing your back, Eddie helps you fall back with your body pressed against the sheets. Your head rests on a pillow as he gets comfortable on top of you.
You can feel the van getting hotter, a cloud of passion and love around you. Eddie makes a quick move with his knee as it presses against your hot core.Â
Absent-mindedly you start to grind against his knee, feeling the combination of friction with his sloppy kisses sending chills through your spine.
His lips now travel all the way to your neck, he presses sweet wet kisses against your skin.
âEddie-â you whisper, letting the air out of your lungs. âI want youâ
You have been dreaming about this, he has been dreaming about this.Â
This moment. This very golden moment is going to live in your head forever.
âAre you sure, sweetheart?â he murmurs against your collarbone, his lips tingling your skin.
âIâm sure, pleaseâ
He takes a break from the kisses, looking at your sweet face.Â
âHave you everâŚ?â he asks.
âNo,â you bite your lip nervously.
âIâll take care of you, I promiseâ
You nod, and he returns to kissing your neck. One of his hands travels to your thighs, he gives a slight massage on them making his way closer to the heat between your legs.Â
His cock gets hard against his pants as he feels the wet spot between your legs.
âYou are so soaking wet, peach-â
With both hands, he takes off your panties, gently. He is so gentle with you.Â
âAnd so, so prettyâ
Eddie starts to rub your clit with his thumb, his circular motions make your toes curl. Itâs a sensation youâve never felt before. With his mouth pressed against your jaw two of his fingers get inside you slowly, the pain of it quickly goes away and turns into lust. His fingers move in and out, making sure not to hurt you and make you feel good.Â
Your back curls and your thigh touches the bulge on his pants.Â
âEds, pleaseâ
âWhat do you want, princess? Say itâ
âI want you to fuck meâ
Your voice makes his heart flutter. He leans in to kiss you more as he curls your fingers inside you.Â
âOh god, Ed-Eddieâ you mewl, your head too giddy to make up words.
âGood girlâ his voice is now deeper, and his pupils dilate as his body perks up with electricity.
His fingers leave your pussy, you whine and he tells you not to worry.Â
He is gentle on taking your clothes off, smiling after admiring every inch of you. He wets his lips with his tongue admiring your figure.
âYou are so fucking beautiful, princessâ
âYou too, babyâ
The mood has clearly changed, you are still so horny and whining for each other. But Eddie has decided to take his time to make you feel like the princess you are.
Your hands help him take his clothes off, you admire his bare chest and your eyes focus on his tattoos. When he takes his pants and boxers off it is inevitable for you to take a look.
Your mouth waters at the sight. Eddie caresses your cheek and leaves small kisses on your lips as he goes inside you. You feel his hot cockÂ
inside you, it twitches as you stretch and leave out a louder moan.
A grin shows up on Eddieâs face as he thrusts into you. Your nails scratch his back slightly. He feels his skin burn.
âFeeling good?â
âYes, god yesâ
He groans at the same time he increases the speed. Your moans get louder and he kisses your neck again, his bare chest meets yours and you whimper. He is moving on top of you, his cock inside you, and his chest rubs your nipples.
The tiny knot in your stomach untangles as chills go down your spine. You moan as your orgasm comes to you.
âYou are such a good girl, go on cum for meâ
His words are sweet, he keeps praising you as you finally come.Â
âSo so good baby, Iâm going to-â
He moves back but your hands are quick to tangle around his neck, not letting him leave.
âDo it, baby. Cum all over meâ
Your encouraging words get into Eddieâs head, his thrust becomes sloppier as he relaxes and he comes into you as requested.
The hot sticky combination of cum slides down your legs as Eddie hugs you and pulls you to him to the side. His back is now pressed against the dirty sheets, your head falls in his chest.
He kisses your forehead and runs his hand through your back.Â
The sun starts to show up.Â
Eddie leans forward to open the back doors of his van, he comes back to his place next to you as quickly as possible and hugs you harder.
The lake glows with a yellow tint, the water now shows a baby blue color.Â
âI love you, sweetheartâ
Surprised you turn your head to look at him, you give him a big smile.
âI love you tooâ
You stay there a couple of minutes, touching each other and loving each other.

Had good relationship with Anakin, Padme and Ahsoka. Padawan of obi-wan I think. Daughter of obvi wan and satine if I remember correctly idk. Oh and went into the OG movies and helped Luke. Donât remember if she fell in love, AND she was in rebels (helped kanan and Ezra) as she was also a princess with Leia. Something along the lines of this plot plus the info above.

dividers by @saradika
I. Left a small town and never looked back.
Due to your parents' jobs, you had to move frequently, and the longest you stayed in one place was three years. You were so used to this, following the single rule for yourself: never get attached.
One problem, it was impossible not to fall for Steve Harrington.Â
You met Steve in Hawkins, and the three years you spent together were magical. Talking late at night, going to the movies, and hanging out by the lake. Holidays were always spent with him, you invited him to your house, and your parents loved him. Even though your little brother was only 8 years old, he knew Steve was important to the family. Â
The last year of high school was just around the corner. Youâve talked to Steve about graduating together, going to college, and spending the rest of your lives together. Watching each other through all the ups and downs of adulthood, you knew Steve was going to stay with you no matter what, he would be there for you, and you would be there for him. It was all a perfect dream, youâd have someone to celebrate your victories and cheer you up when the inevitable bad luck followed you around.
That dream was crushed when your parents told you they had to move again. You were heartbroken, and even more so because you were going to be separated from your favorite person. It was the first time you'd broken the rule, you got attached to Steve, and you fell in love with him.
The news broke him. He couldnât sleep for the rest of the week, he wanted to be with you all the time, like you promised.
âââ
Before leaving Hawkins, you decided to confess your feelings for him. It felt wrong to pack that secret into your suitcase. Steve felt the same, he liked you too, but he didnât want to admit he was in love with you yet. He decided to make your last day at Hawkins the best day youâve ever had.
The first stop was the diner outside of town to eat burgers, fries, and milkshakes like you always do. At your favorite booth, this time it had a vase with flowers in the center of the table and a beanie babie.
âThis is the one I saw in the magazine.â You take the white stuffed bear, it has a red ribbon around his neck and an embroidered red heart.Â
âIn case you need someone to hug,â he says, looking at the laces of his shoes and holding back his tears.
âSmells good! Iâm so hungry.â You saw the way his smile faded, changing the subject was better than crying already. You had to enjoy the night.
While sipping from your freshly made milkshakesâ stealing the cherry on top of his milkshake as usualâand watching Steve go over the old jukebox to play your favorite songs, the pocket of his jeans ended up empty from using all the coins he had.
âGet up! We have to dance.â Steve stands up, reaching for your hand.
He had to choose wisely for the next song, it was the last coin he had, so of course Be My Baby, by The Ronettes, was playing. He took your hand, squeezing it, and placed his free hand on your back to keep you closer. You rest one of your hands on his chest, feeling his heart beat fast for you.
Everyone in the diner was watching you, but you didnât care. You were in the arms of your boy, your love, and it was the last night with him before a while. You had to dance like nobody was watching.
Leaving the checkered floor and the red booths, the second stop was the theater, cuddling while watching âBefore Sunriseâ . It's one of your favorite movies, and it came back to the big screen for its anniversary.
Both of you get the feeling that it is the perfect movie to watch on a day like this. It was perfect because you donât know whatâs going to happen with you two in the future, just like Celine and Jesse. Your love for each other looks like that, it feels like that, and the best part is that itâs real, not something written for a movie. You arenât acting or performing. You are feeling it.
You feel so lucky you didnât meet him for just one night, you had spent so much time with Steve. The endless walks around the park and picking flowers in spring while he holds the basket and you place your favorites on it so you can take them home. The fun summers, hanging out by the pool, and eating a lot of ice creamâone of those years you had free ice cream thanks to Steve working at Scoops Ahoy. You spent the entire summer making fun of his tiny sailor suit, not wanting to admit he looked really good in it.Â
Fall was always fun, dressing up for Halloween, and joining the kids to trick or treat, so at the end, you can steal some of their best candy bars. The adorable winter, playing in the snow and getting your nose red, drinking hot cocoa and marshmallows while watching Christmas movies.
Everything comes back to your mind like you were watching your movie. Feeling safe and loved with Steveâs arms around you. You never fought before, nothing went bad, but everything was over. For a while.
Steve holds your hand while you walk through the parking lot. The night sky is decorated with stars, so big and bright. He interlocks his fingers with yours, squeezing your hand as you walk to his BMW.Â
The last stop is Loverâs Lake. He parks his car in the usual spotâyour favorite spot. Itâs the best place to feel the magic of the water mixed with the light of the moon. A reminder that you exist on the same planet, even if the miles come between you.
The radio starts to play âDonât you forget about meâ. The song was perfect. You take a deep breath. This is a moment you will remember forever.
Both sitting in the hood of his car, he hugs you, shielding you from the cold breeze, and kisses the top of your head while your back rests against his chest. The tears start to spill from your eyes, rolling down your cheeks. You can't hold the sobs, your chest is giving up.
âHey, hey!â He turns you around, softly cupping your face between his hands and rubbing the tears away with his thumbs.
âDonât you dare forget about me,â you whisper, as if the trees were going to be disturbed by your sobs.
âI wonât, Iâll call you every day. But I am going to miss you so much,â he whispers back.Â
âIâm scared, Stevie,â you sob, tangling your arms around his neck. âWhat if we canât make it?â
âWe will, we got this. The love I have for you is stronger than anything else, we wonât let the distance break us.â
âDo you promise?â
âI promiseâ
Pressing his thumbs against your cheeks, he gets close to you. Your lips touch, and it feels like thousands of fireworks light up inside you. You feel one of his hands slide down your arm, and it makes you shiver. His hand rests on your waist and gives it a little squeeze. You jump closer to him than before, and you can feel his lips turn into a grin.
It wasnât your first kiss with him. You kissed sometimes while playing spin the bottle or when Steve wanted to teach you how to kiss better.
âWe will get through this. I'll see you again, and we can live the rest of our lives together.â
He kisses you again, and you open your mouth as he pushes your face to the side with his thumb. He slides his tongue to join yours and get more of the way you taste, honey, strawberries and cherries. Steve is being patient, taking his time brushing his tongue against yours and humming at how good it feels.
This kiss felt more magical, it made your insides bubbly, and your cheeks got warmer. But inside you, the clock was ticking, you had to savor this moment in case the universe turned against you again.
He breaks the kiss, trying to slow his breath. You do the same, opening your eyes slowly.
âI wonât do anything, not tonight." His voice is soft, but the tone is deeper. He feels a knot in his throat. âBut next time, I promise I will make you feel so good.â
âI know, next time and the others. Thereâs only a couple of months left for summer break, and we will see each other again.â
âWe will, baby. Now kiss me before I fall to the floor, you look so pretty tonight as you always do.â
âYou are beautiful, Stevie.âHe kisses you again, not getting enough of you. He kissed you before you went inside the house and he wouldâve kissed you a thousand times more if he knew it was going to be the last time.
II. Wondering why we bother with love if it never lasts.Â
You were disconnected and heartbroken by the time you spent the first week of your last year of high school at a different school. Steve picked a few shifts a week at the local coffee shop after school, always with Robin by his side.
Hawkins felt so empty without you. Every time he saw a happy couple smiling, kissing, or hugging, he felt nauseous and jealous. His friends knew how he felt, they missed you too, but they never stopped calling you.Â
The only thing that kept him going were your calls, you called every single night. Tell him about your day, your new school, and your new friends. He tells you about school, work, Robin, and the kids. It was good, he loved hearing your voice and watching you through his screen.
âI canât believe it! I told you! Steve Harringtonâs first A+ essay, and without my help. I feel a little wounded, you donât need me at all!â
He felt so proud of himself. You were the last one to know about it but you are the most excited one. Even more excited than him.
âYou are a great tutor, all those tips and seeing my practice essays marked with a pink glittery pen helped me a lotâ
âI'm so proud of you, you are capable of anything I know!â
âHoneyâŚâ Steveâs worried face makes your heart sink.
âYes?â
âIâm always going to need you. I canât live without you.â
You press both of your hands against your chest as if that were going to soothe your pain. The damage you caused him is evident, you shouldnât have broken that stupid rule.
âI miss you, Stevie. I canât do this without you.â
âI miss you too, honey. And you can, you have me here. Alwaysâ
Steve feels his head heavier each minute, the long hours at the coffee shop kill him.Â
âWe should go to sleep, yeah?â he says, noticing your sleepy face.Â
âWe should. Good night. Call me tomorrow!â
âPlease, I donât know if I can survive without hearing your voiceâ
You get closer to your camera, blowing him a kiss.
âIâll annoy you with my voice every night, honey!â
âIâd love that baby. Good night,â he says, blowing a kiss back.
When you hang up, he tosses his laptop to the floor. It falls on the pile of unwashed clothes he has.Â
âWeird,â he says to himself, looking at his laptop resting on the clothes. He takes a look around his room. Itâs a mess, he makes a mental note to clean it, and he canât stress over it right now.
Steve lays with his back against the mattress. He remembers the way you brought your hands up to your chest. He does the same, hoping to understand why you did it.
His warm palms rest against his chest, now he knows. He feels it. Steve applies a bit of pressure to his chest, closing his eyes and trying to fall asleep.
So much for trying, it felt like maybe five minutes had passed, and when he glanced at his clock, it was six a.m. His alarm was about to go off, and he had to go downstairs, make breakfast, and get on his way to pick Robin up to go to school.
Thatâs when he lets out a sob. Time does pass without you, the world doesnât stop, and he gets even more scared than before.Â
Donât you forget about me.
He grabbed his phone, clicking on his texts. Youâve already said good morning to him.
âGood morning baby. I'll miss you forever. Have a nice day! Love youâ
Thatâs when he takes a moment to reply.Â
âGood morning, hope you slept well. I love you too.â
And then he gets out of bed to spend another day without you by his side. Knowing you are slipping through his fingers already.
âââ
Three weeks later.
The calls stopped being frequent, sometimes you were too tired, or sometimes he was too tired.Â
âI have to go, I'm exhausted. Can I call you tomorrow?â you ask him.
Steve had to ignore the arrow that just shot through his heart, he wasnât ready to say goodbye. The more he talked to you, the more he missed you. When he knew you werenât going to make it for the summer break he felt his heart break, every time he woke up he was already crying.
This broke your heart too, not being able to see him, or visit your friends. It felt like some strange and strong force was keeping you away and pushing you farther.
âOf course, honey. Sweet dreamsâ
âSweet dreams, Stevie.â
He closes his laptop after you hang up, tossing it aside. The pile of clothes seems to be bigger. He swears to do it tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow. Whenever he feels like he is alive.
Four months later.
The rush hour at the coffee shop ends up killing Steveâs back, and his feet are burning. To his surprise, his parents are home.
Can this day get any worse? Yes, you havenât texted him back since yesterday.
"Steve, are you still wasting your time at that damn coffee shop?â His dad shouts he doesnât have time for this. âSteve?â
He hears his dadâs heavy steps behind him. He catches Steve at the first step of the stairs.
âDidnât you hear me? Say something!â
âIâm not wasting my time, I'm saving up for college,â Steve whispers. He can feel his dadâs warm breath against his face, and he can smell the whiskey too.Â
âCollege? You are going to work for me, right?â
âNo?â
âThen why go to college in the first place?â
Steve pushes his dad away, and his mother joins them.
âItâs clear, John.â she says.
âSay it, Steve.â
âTo get the fuck away from you, thatâs why,â Steve spits out. His eyes were burning, and tears were threatening to fall.
He gets away from them, locking himself in his room. He doesnât mind looking at his phone or picking up his laptop, he just wants to fall asleep and get this over with. It has been such a long day.
Six months later.
Itâs been a long time since youâve talked to each other.
âAre you tired?â You ask, and he has been rubbing his eyes for the third time now. âYou donât have to hang up, carry me to your bed.â
Steve leaned his head to the side, just as a confused puppy does.Â
âCâmon, Iâll read you a story so you can fall asleep. Like old times.â
âAre you sleeping late?â
âI have assignments to finish, I need to catch up with a few classes because I fell behind.â
âYouâll do great, honey. You are the smartest person I know!â
âSteve Harrington, you are the smartest person I know. We are a couple of months away from college and i'm really excitedâ
âMe too honey, it sucks you couldnât come here for summer breakâ
You will see each other, you will.Â
Steve shakes his head with a smile plastered on his face, holding the laptop in his hands. He lets himself lie under his sheets, fixing his pillow and resting his head on it.Â
"Are you ready?â you ask him, sitting on your desk and getting comfortable for a long night.
âReady, no scary tales, please!"
âI promise! Close your eyes now!â
Steve takes the last glance at you, his fingers reaching to touch his screen as if he were touching your face. But he canât, you are too far away now and it kills him.
âGoodnightâ
The bubbly feeling in your chest goes away when you donât hear a nickname. No honey, no baby.Â
âGoodnight!â You wait until his eyes are closed. âAnd we begin, once upon a time."
Steve falls asleep before getting to know what the story is about, he was so tired and this is the first time he has slept more than three hours.
You close your laptop after watching him turn to the other side. You are trying to return your attention to your assignments, but the only thing you can feel is your heart breaking again. The hope you once had is now fading away. You are managing to live without him, but you donât want to.Â
Steve regrets it. He regrets falling asleep. This time he didnât wake up seeing your face, he didnât get to hear your bedtime story, and he didnât get to tell you how much he loved you. And he regrets it so much because it was the last time he heard your voice.
III. And every time I look at you itâs like the first time
Two years later.
Steve had a hard time finishing high school, but he did. Later, he had to retake a year, but he saved up some money with Robin to move to college. After jumping up and down and celebrating with their friends their acceptance letters, they got into the college dorms for the first year, but that went very badly because they couldnât be roommates and all the noise from the dorm building was constantly giving them a headache.
He saw Nancy and Jonathan when they all came back from college over the summer break, hanging up with them was the best. They helped him and Robin choose the best apartment outside of college, it was close to the new coffee shop they were working on and close to their buildings. He never saw you again, you were too busy to travel, and he was too. Mindlessly forgetting about each other and not meeting again hurt less.Â
When he had to retake a year, he hesitated to call you. He was ashamed of himself, you were supposed to go to the same college in the same year.Â
When he finally got his acceptance letter, he didnât call you. Steve had a feeling you got into college and that your life was going well. He knew he was right.
But it had a good outcome, Steve retook his senior year and moved in with his best friend to start a new chapter in his life. A life that he wanted to enjoy, free from the pressure of his parents and the small town that made him feel so small.
Their first year wasnât easy. Steve spent most of his time in his dorm, and Robin did too. They didnât go to parties and didnât seem too excited about meeting new people.
He felt like a total stranger like he didnât belong there. He picked the same coffee shop he was working in to hang out, he picked the public library over the school library because it looked terrifying.
Steve spent most of his weekends and days off studying, he was at the top of his class. Whenever he wrote an essay, it reminded him of you, but not as a sign of hope, just a reminder of his small town years.
Robin spent most of her weekends traveling to Hawkins to meet her girlfriend, Chrissy. Taking Steveâs car and cleaning it for him as a thank you.
Steve didnât meet anyone else, he didnât want to get attached. If anyone leaves, whatâs the point? He was only close to two of his classmates, that was enough for him.
âââ
âDo you know whoâs moving in?â your roommate asks, Diana was always aware of every gossip around college. It was your second year being her roommate, she slowly became your best friend.
âNo, who?â You ask, not really wanting to know but giving her satisfaction again.
âA new couple! I hope they arenât as loud as the last ones.â
âPlease, I need to buy new headphones just in case.â
Diana laughs, walking towards her room to place some of the new boxes she moved in. You asked if she wanted help, but she didnât because her brand new date was going to join her.
You decided to head up to the public library, knowing you had never been there and wanting to explore a new world. It was a couple of blocks away so you had to take the bus.
âââ
Steve and Robin were driving around their new neighborhood, looking for their new apartment. They were singing the songs on the radio, even if Robin didnât know most of them because her music taste was original. But Steve knew every one of the trendy songs.
They stopped at a red light. Robin got distracted by two dogs âkissingâ each other. Steve looked away with a face of disgust, and thatâs when his eyes fell on you.
He wasnât sure if it was his imagination, were you really there? Was he hallucinating? Maybe the smell of coffee is doing some damage to his brain.
But it was you, wasnât it? without the signature choker, without the thousands of bracelets, and without the red lipstick always staining his shirts. Then it wasnât you. You had glasses now, a gold chain around your neck, and your hair was slightly lighter.
The bus blocks his view; he wants to scream at it to move, and when it does, you disappearâor the hallucination he had of you disappearedâthe honk of the car behind him makes him jump, the green light is on, and he has to move.
âSteve! Are you okay?â Robin shouts, scanning Steveâs face. He looks pale, confused, and scared.
âI think I just saw a ghost,â he says, looking over Robin and then the road ahead.
âYou are only nervous, the apartment will be good, don't worry. If they scam us, we have Chrissy to defend us in court.â
âYeah, stop it lovebird. We are here.â
The apartment buildings look so tall, almost intimidating. Steve drives around looking for the parking lot, and when he finds it, he and Robin take a moment to process it.
"I'm scared too, but we should go in. The moving truck will be here, and we will have a lot to do,â Robin says, taking Steveâs hands and giving them a light squeeze. âWe got thisâ
âYeah, we should go in now.â
They go over to their apartment, meet their landlord, and get their keys. The moving truck comes a couple of hours earlier, and they move in their new stuff after cleaning the apartment.
A couple of empty boxes and a lot of wrapping paper later, they are done. They only need the heavy couch.
âEven if I help you, we wonât be able to do itâ
âI know! Iâm thinkingâ
Steve and Robin are stressed now. Steveâs hair is disheveled already, and Robinâs mascara is smudged around her eyes. They had a long drive, and now they are so tired of getting the apartment ready.
âWe should just knock at our neighbors. Their screams stopped.â
âYeah, I should buy new headphones for that.â
He points in the hallway. Robins walks out of the apartment and knocks on the door. After a few knocks, the door opens, and Steve joins them.
âSteve? You are Nickâs friend, right? I saw you with him the other day,â a guy asks, introducing himself as Eric.
âUhh yes, Nick! Nice to meet you."He shakes his hand. âThis is Rob, my friend.â
âNice to meet you!â Eric says, âThis is my..."
âIâm Diana, nice to meet you guys,â she waves at them.
âSo, we need help moving on our couch. Could you help us?â Robin asks.
âPlease, we are a great team, but that couch is very heavy,â Steve says. âWhat if you help us, and we invite you to eat some pasta? I saw a new Italian restaurant a few blocks away.
âSure, we can help!â Diana says.
The four of them carry the couch with ease into Steve and Robinâs apartment, they thank their new neighbors, and they all high five, looking proud of themselves.Â
âThank you again, guys, we should go. I'm starving!â Robin smiles at them, and they all nod but Diana.
âCan I invite my friend? She can meet us there,â Diana asks. They all nod, but Eric.
âNo way! She hates me,â he says, shaking his head, taking Dianaâs hand, and stopping her from going into their apartment.Â
âI told you it would take time. She is protecting me,â she says, dragging Eric with her into her apartment. âWe will see you guys in a minute.â
âSure, take your time,â Steve says. Their neighbors leave and shut the door behind their backs.
When they are gone, he wraps his hands around Robinâs neck. He looks over the apartment and smiles.
âWe made it,â he says.
âWe made it!â She says back, hugging his waist and rubbing his back.
They break the hug after a few minutes, looking over the almost finished apartment. Thereâs some stuff left to unpack.
âWait for Chrissy to see this, she is going to love it.â
âIs she coming? Tomorrow?â Steve asks, looking at his friend and her lovesick smile.
âYes! I think I'll finally ask her the question"
âAlready? Isn't it too soon?â
âDingus, when you know, you know. Life is short, we canât lose time stressing over everything,â she says, rubbing his shoulders. âYou will find someone, maybe not, you know who, or maybe you will. Let time choose.â
He knew Robin was talking about you. Even if Steve moved on and got his shit together, he was still missing you and the part of him you took with you. No matter how many dates he had, how many times Hopper talked to him. He wanted you, something far from impossible.Â
âYou should write that on a note and put it in the fridge." They both laugh. "I'm very proud of you.â
âDonât make fun of me, or you will lose your best man spot. I will give it to Eddie.â Robin gets a napkin out of a box and cleans her mascara.
âHey! Who used to drive you everywhere and still does?â
âI'm joking!â
âI know,â he says, giving her a pat on the back. âGood luck with your proposal.â
âI still need a ring, not all of us carry our grandmotherâs rings everywhere we go.â
âShut up! I'll help you get a ring.â
âYes!â
They high five again, and they hear knocks on the door. They see their neighbors again.
âMy friend isnât coming, I think she is with her boyfriend. But we can go now!â
âYay! Sorry about your friend."Robin gets closer to Diana, leaving Steve behind with Eric.
âArenât you together?â he asks.
âNo, we are friends. Platonic with a capital P!â Steve replies, walking to the door and joining the girls.
âCool, maybe you can date Teddy and smooth the anger out of her,â Eric says.
âTeddy?â Steve asks, walking to the parking lot.
âOh, Diâs best friend,â he says, pointing at Diana. âShe has this weird ass white teddy bear, and since then, I call her Teddy.â
âOh, funny,â Steve says. A weird white teddy bear? No, no, it canât be. His heart pounds harder against his chest, and he gets back to that night. The diner, the flowers, the beanie baby, and then someone who looked like you at the bus stop.
This canât be real, he wonât get his hopes high again.
âAre you okay, man? You look scared,â Eric asks Steve, stopping him after he puts the key on his BMW. âCan you drive?â
âYeah, I can. Donât worry,â Steve says, his free hand over his chest. âItâs just something that happens.â
âHe sees ghosts!â Robin shouts, making everyone laugh.
âWe should walk guys, it isnât that far,â Diana adds.
âYeah, we could use some fresh air,â Robin says.
They all walk to the restaurant, enjoying a fun night. All of them get the feeling theyâll be close, but tonight they treat each other as strangers. Not sharing all but funny stories and college adventures.
âââ
When Diana gets home, you are already there, she walks over to the couch to wake you up and help you get to bed.
âDid you talk to Jake?â
âHe picked me up from the library, we didn't-"
âAnother time will come."
You hum, walking with her to your room. She closes the door, and you walk towards your bed, put your pajamas on, and slip into bed. You try to sleep, trying to keep all the midnight-crushing thoughts away, with the BMW in the parking lot on your mind, it looks very familiar.
âââ
Itâs only 8 a.m, and you sit at home, eating your oatmeal bowl with strawberries, bananas, and a cup of coffee youâve made yourself. You point to the cup you made for Diana, it has been sitting there for a few minutes. Maybe she wanted a cold brew instead of a nice hot cup.Â
âOne is Rob, and the other... I donât remember.â
âDi! You are really bad with names.â
âAre you sure you donât want ice on your coffee?â you joke.
âNo, and yeah, I was a little stoned too, thatâs why I donât remember well.â
âThatâs always going to cost you, babe.â
âI know, but I can introduce them later! We are all going to a party, and Rob will pick us up after work because the girl had to see her girlfriend.â She chugs her cup of coffee and puts her jacket on.
âAre you sure his name is Robert?â
âNo, itâs Rob!â She still looks unconvinced, but you leave it. âAnyway, is Jake picking you up?â
âI donât know, we arenât really on speaking terms.âÂ
Jake was your boyfriend a couple of weeks before he asked you for a break, and you havenât âfixed it." He picked you up from the library yesterday, and the whole ride home was quiet and uncomfortable, but something tells you it isn't going to last.
âCall him! He is good for you.â
âIâm not sure about that, but Iâll see you later then.â
âIâll see you later, babe!â
âBe careful!â
âââ
You finish washing the dishes and go back to your room to get ready for the party. Minutes later, Diana and Eric show up to drive you to the house. Itâs the first party of the semester, and everyone seems pretty excited about it except you. You know if you see Jake again, he will probably break up with you, rip off the band-aid, and go to the girl who has been hanging out with him at the gym.
But you go, not wanting to miss out and excited to see some of your friends who arrived in town. It might not be the best night, but at least youâll have a cup of cranberry juice with vodka to survive.
You arrive at the party early, not wanting to talk to anyone, yet you get closer to the table in the middle of the dining room and make yourself a cape cod. When itâs done, you get to the living room and sit on the couch, watching as people come over, and some of them wave at you and say hi before going for their drink.
Jake arrives with a girl by his side, He gets closer to her ear to whisper something, and she turns around as he walks to you.
âCan we talk?â
âYou are going to break up with me, arenât you?â You pinch your eyebrows together.Â
âLet me explain.â
He sits on the arm of the couch you are sitting on, so close to you. You can already hear his words muffling and how sorry he is about all of it, making up excuses to let you know itâs not your fault he is doing this and the two of you should end your relationship now. Avoid telling the truth and spinning around the subject, reminding you of all the good moments but also all the fights and âbreaksâ you had.
You look at him through your eyelashes, your tears rolling down your cheeks. Your now ex-boyfriend pinches your chin with his fingers, not letting your gaze fall to your lap or the cup you hold in your hand. He whispers âIâm sorryâ thousands of times more, and you refuse to move, feeling the warmth of his fingers against your face for the last time. Then he leaves you alone to find his date, and you wish the earth could swallow you whole.
âââ
When Steve gets to the party with Robin and Chrissy by his side, he lets the two of them look for a place while he gets their drinks. The house is so tiny that everyone is squeezing each other and bumping into each other on the way to other rooms. Everything smells like alcohol and weed, and even the floor is sticky, but after all, Steve manages to get to the dining room and look for the red solo cups. He takes one and pours tequila into it. He drinks it, feeling the burn down his throat as he keeps his eyes closed. He needs more of these to survive the night.
He looks around, recognizing some people he used to see around in his first year, some of them are customers in the coffee shop he works in. When his head looks over to the living room, he sees the girl from the bus stop, the one who looks like you.Â
Steve gets even more confused as you chug your drink, the solo cup covering your face. He turns his head away from the view, even if itâs not you, his mind betrays him.
Whereâs the real you? What are you doing right now? Do you have a boyfriend? A girlfriend? A child? A cat? Are you married?Â
The question that hurts more is the one he used to think about almost every night. Would he see you again?
He tries to enjoy the party as soon as he sees the girl leave. He misses watching Diana run after you and try to comfort you.Â
Your friend takes you home, and Steve stays until the party is over, and he is a bit more sober to take Robin and Chrissy back to their apartment.
âââ
âRobin? Why did you leave so soon?â Steve asks Robin over the phone, while he tosses empty boxes and bags around.
âWe are getting you breakfast! Jesus, whatâs your problem?â
âIâm hungover, and I forgot I have to send this email before twelve, but I canât find my laptop charger, and I canât find yours either!â
âShit, I took mine because Chrissy needed my laptop, but I'm sure yours is in your room. We unpacked everything.â
âFuck! Iâll call you back.â
âAsk Diana for one!â
Stressed out, Steve hangs up the phone before listening to Robinâs last words. Of course, he can ask his neighbor for a favor, and he knows Diana is nice.Â
He gets out of his apartment, and a few steps later, he gets in front of the door. He knocks a lot of times to get Dianaâs attention, or maybe Ericâs. Steve doesnât remember if they got back here from the party, but itâs worth trying.
As the door opens, he takes a step forward. âHey! My laptop charger broke, and I have to send this very important email-" He takes a deep breath, not believing who is in front of them. âWhat-â
âItâs you,â he whispers, feeling a knot in his throat and rubbing his clammy hands together.
âItâs meâ You rub your eyes one more time, getting rid of the blur on your eyes from being woken up. âSteve?â Your heart starts to beat against your chest so fast that you swear itâs hurting you.
Steve stares at you, itâs like the first time he saw you all those years ago. He didnât believe in love at first sight until he felt his body giving up and just yearning for you. He feels it all again, you look even more beautiful than before, but with your signature heavy gaze.Â
âI'm sorry if Iâm interrupting, I can just...â
âNo? no. Uh, come in, let me find my charger.â
This is not how you imagined seeing him again. The last time you dreamt about him, you were seeing him for the first time at the Hawkins airport, You ran to him, and he caught you in his arms, kissing every inch of your face. And now, with your heart beating faster than ever and your feet carrying you to your room, you canât help but feel like you are having a nightmare.
You hurry up, find your charger, and run back to Steve.
âHere, you can keep it. I have two of them,â you say. He still looks at you with his mouth slightly open and his eyes studying every part of your face.
Keep it. He knows you are doing this because you are nice, but a part of you still recognizes all the love you once had for him. Or have, because it never faded away. Itâs still your Steve, slightly older and with a confused expression on his face.Â
He takes the charger from your hands, your fingers touching him for a couple of seconds. When you finally lock eyes with him, you can see his glassy eyes while yours look the same. He didnât want to believe it was you, you were so close all this time.
âI thought iâd never see you again,â you whisper, almost inaudible, but he can hear it. As if its ears were trained to hear even the lowest tone of your voice.Â
But the air feels tense, awkward. He doesnât say anything, and you stand in front of him like before, frozen in your place as a wave of anxiety washes you over. You stare at each other, trying to avoid all these feelings rushing through your veins.
âI need to send this email, Iâll be right back.â
He goes back to his apartment, leaving you and your overwhelming feelings alone. You close the door to your apartment and take some time to process everything. Steve is here, your Steve. The boy you once called the love of your life, the only boy youâve ever loved.
You werenât sure you were going to see him again. You gave up on it a few months ago, knowing it would take a miracle to see him again. And he was so close to you all this time.
When you hear the knock on the door again, you open it faster this time. Steve stands up in front of you, watching your tears roll down your cheeks. He wraps his arms around your body, hugging you so tightly as if you were going to disappear. Your arms hug his torso, letting your head fall against his chest for a second before your sighs turn into sobs.
âI canât believe itâs really you,â Steve whispers, convincing himself to not let you go. He fears the alarm will go off and he will have to wake up from his dream.Â
âI know, it feels like a dream, please donât let go,â you say, as if you were reading his mind all this time.Â
âI wonâtâ
Steve rests his chin on your head, letting his own tears fall. You stay in the hug for a long time, feeling his warmth against your body, and his arms push you closer to him. You dig your fingers in his back, wanting to feel him more and wishing for this not to be some sick joke.
He places one of his hands on your head, kissing your forehead, before leaning back and searching for your face.
âHi,â you say as you look at him, tears on his face just like yours.
âHi,â he smiles, slightly. You do the same, looking at every inch of his face. Remembering all the moles your mind seemed to forget with the time.
You admire each other, letting your mind take you back to Hawkins and all those years you spent together.
âI missed you so much,â he says, slicing the awkward silence with a knife, now rubbing your back and trying to get you relaxed. As your sobs stop, you let go of him and invite him inside.
âI missed you too.â You smile again. The inches separating you are killing you, but thereâs too much to say and feel.
âYou stopped calling,â Steve says, with a sour tone in his voice youâve never heard before.
âThe phone works both ways.â You bite back, crossing your arms in front of your chest. Protecting you from whatâs coming.
âI-â Steve mutters, avoiding your eyes and looking all over the room.
âYou? What? Did you forget about me?â you ask. âWe made a promise.â
The mix of feelings that sit right at the top of your chest starts to reveal themselves. Itâs all so confusing, and you werenât prepared for this. You want to blame him for the time lost, but you know itâs also your fault.
âWhy are you bringing this up right now? I saw you for the first time at a fucking bus stop and thought I was going crazy. Itâs too much!â
Steve feels relieved; his mind wasnât betraying him, and he wasnât going crazy. It was really youâthe new you.Â
âJust say the truth. You didnât answer my call when I got into college or when I moved in.â
âYou called?â
âI called your house since you didnât reply to my texts or emails. No one answered.â
âI got into a fight with them, and I moved in with Hopper. I was having a hard time, Iâm sorry.â
He confesses. You see the way his lips turn into a pout, his tears threatening to fall again.
âWhat happened?â
âI messed up, had to retake a year.â
"Oh,â itâs the only thing you can think of. Some things made sense, but you still had a lot of questions.
âI didnât tell you because I was embarrassed and so disappointed in myself. No one heard about you, or your family, so I thought you didnât want to see me, and I had the feeling you were fine without me.â
âWe had to move again, two times. But this is the college of our dreams, I didnât see you here the first year. I thought you chose a different one.â
âYou know me, I donât break promises.â
He looks back at you again, it takes everything in him not to walk to you and kiss you. It takes everything in you to not do the same.
âListen, I have an interview today, but can we have dinner? I still have a lot of things to say, a lot of things to ask, and itâs been so long.â you blur out.Â
âSure, I have a shift at the coffee shop, so Iâll see you at seven?â
âYeah, thatâs okay, Where do you work?â you ask, suddenly shivering. Itâs really him, this isnât a dream.
âIn a coffee shop thatâs on Main,â he replies, âI know you never go there, I wouldâve seen you.â
âIâve been busy.â
Right. Diana mentioned a boyfriend. His heart suddenly stops, fearing that he is seeing you again just to lose you again.
âI know,â he says, resting his hands on his hips, looking around the room to avoid your eyes again. âGood luck on your interview.â
âThank you, good luck on your shift." You can feel the awkwardness coming back, the uncomfortable silence threatening to come back. âIâll see you at seven!â
âIâll pick you up here,â he says, You can only nod before he turns his back on you.Â
"Stevie,â you say. He is about to open his front door when he hears your voice again.
âYes?â he says, turning his head slightly to see you. He missed that nickname, you are the only one who calls him like that.Â
You want to keep talking and confessing your true feelings right now, but you have things to do. He is more important than everything else, you got him back, you donât want to waste time.Â
âSay hi to Robin for me.âÂ
He nods, then walks into his apartment. You close the door of yours once again.
Fear and excitement occupy most of your brain right now. You are praying for him to still want you, to love you back as much as you've loved him this whole time. Being his best friend would be a great start, but being back to be his love sounds even better.
IV. You are the best thing that's ever been mine.
Steve paces around his apartment, Robin and Chrissy are back, and they watch him mumble something under his breath.Â
âEverything will be fine, you will talk to her and get back together,â Robin says.
âWhat if she has a boyfriend? What if she is in love with someone else?âÂ
âYou can always steal her away, Robin did that to me." Chrissy joins the conversation.Â
They have been talking about you for hours. Steve decided to exchange his shift and stay home while Robin was taking her day off. He was too distracted to go to work today.Â
âDingus. Stop it! You are making me dizzy." Robin gets up, reaching for Steveâs hands and making him look at her. âYouâll see her when she is back, you are going to take her to that restaurant and talk like the adult you are. Okay?â
"Hot,â Chrissy blurs out.
âThank you, sweetheart." Robin looks at her and winks.Â
âGross, get a room, you two!â Steveâs disgusted face makes both girls laugh.Â
âYou can do it, dingus. Youâll get her back.âÂ
âIâm not sure if she feels the same or if I feel the same.â
âDidnât you say she hugged you so tight you almost ran out of breath? Thatâs a good sign.â Robinâs hands travel to Steveâs shoulders, shaking him up and trying to wake him up from whatever nightmare he is making up in his head.Â
âAnd donât start. Youâve been rejecting girls, having failed dates, and looking like a lost puppy whenever you see a girl that looks slightly like her. You two are still in love, from what you tell me and from what I feel.â
âYou are right, I'm still in love with her. But itâs been a long time. I changed, she changed too.â
âChanges are good, I know it because it was hard for me to accept the real me, but I took that step because I wanted to be free,â Robin confesses, stopping Steve from giving up. âTalk. Try. You met again for a reason, donât let that go to waste.âÂ
Steve nods. âWhat would I do without you?â He hugs Robin for a minute before hearing some voices in the hallway. He hears the front door open and close, which means you and Diana made it home.Â
âYouâll be lost without me! Good luck, dingus.â
âGo get your girl, Steve!âÂ
Steve walks to your door and knocks, to his surprise, Diana opens the door.Â
"Hi,â he says nervously. âIs she here?âÂ
âYeah, she will be ready in five.â
"Alright,â Steve says, his hands clammy again, and he finds himself shaking.Â
âSo, you are the guy she has been talking about nonstop.âÂ
âI guess yes,â he replies, feeling his heart racing again. Youâve talked about him.Â
âGood for you,â Diana says, before you step in.Â
"Hi,â you say, looking at Steve again. You find this odd, but you are thanking whatever it was that brought him to you again.Â
"Hi,â he replies, his gaze heavy on you as he takes everything in. Your soft voice, the sweet smell of your perfume.Â
âHome by ten!â Diana jokes, making you laugh and shake off the anxiety that took over your body.Â
You walk away from the apartments, with Steve by your side. He glances at him from time to time, and you do the same.Â
âHow was your shift?â you ask him, trying to get rid of the awkward feeling that washes over you again.
âI didnât go. Too distracted for it,â he says, looking over at you as you walk to the parking lot. âHow was your interview?â
"Good,â you sigh, not wanting to ramble about it at this moment. âI hope I get the job.â
âYou will, you can do anything,â he says when you reach his car, noticing it looks the same way as before.Â
Nothing has changed, just time. Everything feels the same, like it froze, letting time pass over it without a single consequence.Â
Steve looks at you, his brows knit in a frown, and he is almost chewing his lip.
âIf you want to ask something, just do it,â you say, making him shiver. âI know you, maybe not so well anymore, but I do.â
âWhat if your boyfriend sees us?â he asks.
A chuckle falls from your lips, shaking your head and pushing the hair out of your face.
âI donât have a boyfriend, he broke up with me yesterday, and I saw it coming. Iâm over it.â
âOh, do you want to talk about it? We can stay at home, i can leave you alone, and we can reschedule our dinner because i donât want you to feel like you.â
âIâm still in love with you,â you interrupt, confessing. With a soft look in your eyes, Steve gets lost in them. âIâm sorry, I can't waste any more time. I need to get this out of me. Iâve been looking for you in everyone, everywhere. You are here, and you look the same, I know time has passed, but I believe my love for you has kept you exactly as I remember you.â
Steve doesnât know what to do, the truth is, he has been waiting to hear those words for a long time. He has been waiting to see you, to hug you, and to kiss you.
âIâm still in love with you too,â he says, running his fingers through his hair, pushing his golden locks back. The sun is setting completely, and you can still see how it shines. âI never got over you, I was forced to move on because i felt like I didnât deserve you. And I never wanted us to fall apart, I needed you all this time.â
He gets closer to you, his chest almost bumping into yours. He hesitates to kiss you in the moment, even to touch your hand. The setting reminds him of the last time he saw you, your last night at Hawkins.
âIf you want, we can try to make up for the lost time and give it another try.â
âIâd love that.â
He gets closer now, with your confession turning into an invitation. Steve places both of his hands on your cheeks, rubbing the soft skin with his thumbs. It takes you back to that night, it feels like you are relieving that moment just to make it right this time.
âBaby-â he is so close to your lips, his words tingle your lips, and you never stop looking into his eyes. Those sweet brown eyes you missed so much.
âIâve missed that, honey." He laughs at the nickname, but it still makes him shiver and smile like a little kid.
âAnd Iâve missed you, kiss, please?â
Steve nods, pressing his lips against yours. Itâs a soft, slow kiss. You can feel the breeze of the cold night on your face as you flush when Steve leans his head to the side to trap your bottom lip between his lips to taste you. You close your eyes, savoring the moment. One thing you forgot and cried for every night was this.
His warm lips against yours, his taste. His hands squeeze your cheeks as you press your body against his.
Itâs the first kiss since that night, two years have passed, and this still feels so familiar. So safe. The kiss is even sweeter thinking of all the time youâve dreamed about this, of all the unspoken feelings you communicate to each other with everything your lips brush.
When air is needed, you lean your head back a bit. You giggle at the same time, and he places a kiss on your forehead. Happiness takes over you, it feels like floating.
âI still have that beanie baby, you know?â
âI do, Teddy.â
âDonât call me that!â You hit his arm slightly, and he chuckles while rubbing his arm dramatically.
âItâs cute, it suits you,â he says, leaving a peck on your lips, resting his hands on your hips this time.
âItâs ridiculous!â You scrunch up your nose, and he leans in to smooth it off with a kiss. âLetâs go eat, Iâm starving.â
âOnly if my dessert is going to be this sweet girl, the universe got back to me,â he says, picking you up, his arms hugging your waist. You can feel your feet dangling in the air. You tangle your arms around his neck so you donât fall when he spins you around.
âYes, yes, I'll be your dessert!â You giggle as you feel his lips on your cheeks, and when he stops, you peck his soft cheeks back. âIn which house?â
âOh, I donât know, it depends on how loud you are.â
âStevie!â Your cheeks glow red, and he laughs at your sudden flushed face.
âIâm joking! weâll figure it out later." He doesn't stop hugging you, even when he puts you down, your feet are now touching the concrete of the parking lot.
âWhich one?â you ask, teasingly. Trying to hold back the giggle that is about to escape your lips.
âBoth!â Steve says.
You get back in his car, and he proposes the idea of repeating everything you did that last night but with a different ending. You find a nice diner, not as nice as the one outside Hawkins, but it does the job. The old jukebox is there to dance after you eat burgers and fries and you end up stealing his cherry again.
When he picks up the sun, you get up from the booth where you are sitting and run up to him. One of your arms rests around his neck, and the other hand is holding your hand. He interlocks his fingers with yours while his free hand sits on your waist. He pushes you to his chest, the closest he can get you to him, and you start to sway around the checkered floor of the diner. Dancing like nobody's watching, again.
âYou are the best thing thatâs ever been mine, baby." He sings along with the song before kissing you again.
âIâve always been yours, honeyâ
This night is even more magical than the last one, and youâll have tons of them.
