20240322: the History of LEGO Castle day 082. 6090 Royal Knight's Castle (1995, 763 pieces, 181 different parts)
The Royal Knight's Castle is very cool castle with a lot of fun features. It's a large black castle with light gray battlements and blue tower tops and roofs on a green 32x48 raised baseplate with a raised pit and stones pattern. The castle has a large tower on the back right hand side and a smaller tower on the back left hand side with a gate and portcullis towards the left hand side. The back right hand side has a staircase and additional drawbridge into the castle. There are nine minifigures, one skeleton, and one glow-in-the-dark ghost in this set. -The first minifigure has brown bangs, mustache, and beard with a red torso with printed silver scale mail pattern and black arms, and plain blue legs. -There are two minifigures with a plain yellow minifigure head with a blocked open stud, a white torso with blue arms and a yellow lion head with a yellow crown and a black mane on a halved red and white triangular background with a blue border, and red legs with a black belt. -The next minifigure only came in this set and 9376 Castle Set from Education and Dacta, which was a yellow minifigure head with wavy black eyebrows, mustache, and goatee, a red torso with black arms and red hands, a yellow lion head with a yellow crown and a black mane on a halved red and white triangular background with a blue border, and black legs with a red belt. -There are two minifigures with plain yellow minifigure heads with a blocked open stud, a red torso with printed silver scale mail pattern and blue arms, and blue legs and a black belt. -The next minifigure has a yellow minifigure head with red hair, sideburns, eyebrows, and mustache, a red torso with white arms, a yellow spiky necklace, a white and red checkered pattern with a yellow lion head with a yellow crown and black mane, and plain blue legs. -There are two minifigures with a plain yellow minifigure head with a blocked open stud, a red torso with white arms and a yellow lion head with a yellow crown and a black mane on a red and white triangular background with a blue border, and black legs with a red belt. Finally, I finished the Snack Pack for the Hidden AU, which me and @georgi-girl are working on. It is filled with references from Disney Wish, Sleeping Beauty, Nimona, Disenchantment, Asterix and Obelix, Lego Nexo Knights, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance, from the fashion and the architecture to the culture and the events happening in the story. Centering on the three protagonists, the refugee/royal ward from the pop tribe who was adopted by Queen Celestia, Princess Poppy, her best friend Queen Rose, the new queen of the Platinum Tribe and the late queen's granddaughter, and her fellow pop tribe refugee/royal ward Branch, the trio of best friends and their merry band set on a journey to search for the Pop Tribe and unite the troll tribes and subtribes but helped the five troll tribes, the vacaytioners, and the rageons along the way.
Since Poppy and Rose were princesses from the start, they had an expensive education and lived luxuriously together, thanks to their royal status. The Snack Pack were taken in by the Platinum Tribe as royal wards after the separation from the Pop Tribe during the escape from the troll tree so they had destined occupations within the adopted tribe but their pop attitude often gave the nobility and the upper class members of the Platinum tribe headaches. Branch was trained to be a knight among the Platinum knights and was favored by the nobles. Smidge was also trained as a knight but she chose to become a royal bodyguard. DJ Suki took on music lessons as a troubadour and Guy Diamond likes to volunteer as a model for many artists and sculptors. Cooper becomes a royal ward as a newly-hatched trolling and works as a royal baker with Legsly in the royal bakery. Biggie works at the royal stables as a wrangler for prized critters like solions, umbigris, armadillo buses, puffalos, unicorns, canine or feline critters, swag stags, and many more. After the destruction of the old Platinum castle, the Snack Pack members starts their journey to unite all of the tribes and subtribes while looking for the pop tribe.
Here's the weapons that the Snack Pack and their allies use throughout the story:
Queen Poppy: Twin blades Branch: Axe and bow and arrows Queen Rose: Claymore sword and shield DJ Suki: Halberd Guy Diamond (isn't in the battle since he's with Tiny Diamond so he's tending to the injured): Rapier Satin: Double swords Chenille: Crossbow Biggie (tends to the injured): Bow and arrows Smidge: Mace Legsly: Hammer Fuzzbert (tends to the injured) Cooper: Lance Prince Darnell: Floating turntable platform Queen Barb: Double-bladed axe
Billy Reverb: Greatsword Val Thundershock: Katana Holly Darlin’: Pike Hickory: Mace Dante Crescendo: Rapier Linden: Spear Aurora: Bow and arrows Twilight: Swordstaff Synth: Trident
John Dory: Greatsword Spruce: Trident Clay: Double crossbows Floyd: Whip Viva: Spear

Hey, LEGO fans! Have you heard about the latest set that celebrates 90 years of LEGO history? It's the Lion Knights' Castle (10305), an amazing tribute to the original castle set from 1984 and one of the most requested builds by fans for years. If you love medieval themes, knights, castles, and dragons, you won't want to miss this one!
The Lion Knights' Castle is a new interpretation inspired by the classic LEGO Castle System, which was first introduced in the late 1970s and lasted until 1997. The Castle System was one of the core themes of LEGO, along with Town and Space, and it featured different factions of knights, such as Crusaders, Black Falcons, Forestmen, Wolfpack, Dragon Masters, Royal Knights, Fright Knights, and more. The Castle System also included many iconic sets like 375 Castle (the Yellow Castle), 6080 King's Castle (the Grey Castle), 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress (the Blue Castle), and 6086 Black Knight's Castle (the Black Castle).
The Lion Knights' Castle is a homage to all these sets and more. It has over 4500 pieces and measures over 15 in. (39 cm) high, 18 in. (46 cm) wide and 13 in. (34 cm) deep. It features a stunning castle with four towers connected by walls and gates, a drawbridge that can be raised and lowered with a crank, a secret entrance behind a waterfall, a dungeon with a skeleton prisoner, a throne room with stained glass windows and banners, a treasure room with gold coins and jewels, an armory with weapons and armor racks, a library with books and scrolls, a fireplace with light brick function that flickers when pressed down on it.
The castle also comes with 21 minifigures: six Lion Knights (including King Leo), six Dragon Knights (including Lord Vladek), four Forestmen (including Robin Hood), two Wolfpack Renegades (including Wilfred Wolfpack), two peasants (a farmer and his wife), an archer girl who can be either Maid Marian or Princess Storm from Nexo Knights theme depending on how you swap her hairpiece. There are also three animals: a horse for King Leo to ride on his jousting tournament against Lord Vladek; an eagle for Robin Hood to send messages; and of course - what castle would be complete without one -a dragon for Lord Vladek to unleash on his enemies!
The set is packed with surprises around every corner. You can recreate epic battles between Lion Knights and Dragon Knights using catapults that fire projectiles; you can explore hidden passages behind bookcases or paintings; you can find secret compartments under floor tiles or inside statues; you can discover ancient relics like Excalibur or Nexo Power Shields; you can even make your own stories using stickers that let you customize your minifigures' faces or shields.
The Lion Knights' Castle is not only an awesome display piece but also an incredible playset that will spark your imagination for hours. It's available now at LEGO.com for $299.99 USD / $399.99 CAD / £249.99 GBP / €279.99 EUR / $499 AUD / $549 NZD . Don't miss this chance to own this piece of LEGO history!
What do you think of this set? Are you going to buy it? Which faction do you support? Let me know in the comments below!

My old one is a bit sloppy so I revised the loredump for the world my OC’s live in, it’s a bit long but it’s nice to have for reference, and if anyone wants to give it a little skim I’m putting it under the cut here!
In the beginning of this world, there were two “Gods” so to speak. They were two halves of a whole person, opposites that balance each other out. Iris, the Mother of Magic, and Crocus, the Father of Monsters. While Iris was calm and mature, Crocus had the personality of a petulant child on an awful tantrum who doesn't know when to stop. He had seen everything as a twisted sort of game, creating monsters was something he’d do for fun, in the most sadistic way possible. He viewed himself as above everything, all these creations were insignificant entertainment to him.
Iris didn’t see the world the same way, she saw beauty in life, it was a gift. Humans were her most precious creation, she adored the lives they lived. They were so short yet so sincere, so unique, so… Human. She envied and admired their ability to “grow up” more than anything. But the monsters her brother has created threatened their existence, almost as if he was making them for that exact reason. Maybe at first, creation was just a fun thing she and her “brother” did in their pastime, but now she can see it’s more than that, and she didn’t approve of Crocus’ demented method of playtime.
Iris retaliated, and of course Crocus didn’t respond well, he reacted like an angry toddler knocking over their sibling’s Lego castle, it was all toys to him. To Iris it was serious, but he failed to see that. Slowly he’d slip further down the rabbit hole, to the point of wanting to destroy the world they had created together. Crocus had become a monster himself. Iris had realized she could no longer see him as her playmate, her last resort was to banish him to a pocket dimension. But she could never kill him.
After banishing Crocus,Iris had realized that humans needed a way to protect themselves against her “brother’s” monsters, and she gave them the gift of magic, but at a cost. The magic they’d received was actually a fragment of her powers, and Iris would only retain her immortality. In order to help the humans better understand magic and how to use it, she opened a school to be wizards, to fight monsters, to fend for themselves, and maybe to do what she couldn’t do and kill her brother, if he were to ever return.
After the banishment of Crocus, and birth of magic, humans had become united and the world was a single country, Anthea. The first queen was Queen Anne, who had risen to royalty as the first person born with magic, people declared her a Godsend from Iris herself, she was raised to rule and thus the lineage of heirs would continue, each using the royal magic; Light Magic. Queen Anne would split the country into pieces, as governing the whole world was too grand of a task. Now it would be multiple people, each governing different parts that form a greater whole, with the current monarch at the helm. Each piece would go to knights of hers that she had selected, and the type of magic they used would become the noble type taught each lineage of heirs. (Read more about each different province here)
The current heiress to the throne is Amaryllis, whose mother, Queen Ambrosia, had passed on when she was a toddler. Her husband, King Angrec, is now the sitting monarch. However their marriage was arranged, and if you believe the rumors, Queen Ambrosia was having an affair with her personal Knight, Aster. Aster is also the the magic tutor of Princess Amaryllis, who is studying light magic.
There’s plenty of types magic though, for all sorts of things. There’s earth, fire, stretching, gravity, healing, death, plants, animals, clairvoyance, music, space, time... Anything! Wizards invent all types of new techniques all the time, but you can only ever have one type of magic. Once your soul, or “core”, has adapted to one magic it’s all it can do, humans only have a small piece of Iris’ power and so they can only do one thing with it. Unless you were to cram two souls into one body. The core is where magic comes from, it’s your very soul, it’s you. So once you use a certain type of magic long enough, it also affects your body, and wizard’s bodies will change and adapt to their magic as they use it over time.
Despite the original purpose of wizards being to fight monsters, that’s not all a wizard can do. They can run potion and magic shops, they can be healers, teachers, inventors, scholars, practically anything! However, it’s also super common for wizards to be regarded as celebrities and heroes, especially those seen as the best of the best. For example, the Twelve Knights of the Royal Round. Each one with a rank for twelve to one, they’re knights hand-picked by the royal family to serve, they’re considered heroes who do everything from reading to sick kids to fighting the most violent monsters around.
Aspiring wizards look up to these heroes while they learn to be proper wizards. They may be self taught, they may shadow professionals as apprentices, or they may attend one of the many wizarding schools around Anthea. Including of course, the school created by the Mother of Magic herself, Hecate Academy. A boarding school that runs on a very specific system that no other school does; it uses a crystal ball to choose students for field assignments. For freshmen, these assignments may be as simple as taking care of a potion shop for a couple days, but as they grow older, by senior year they will be taking on assignments that involve fighting real monsters. The crystal ball chooses students through clairvoyance, based on their abilities, team work, and whether this assignment will be beneficial to them, while not too difficult still challenging. Whether they get a good grade is solely based on what they learn from their journey.
Crystals in general are a very important magical material and resource in this modern wizarding society. They’re special because they’re capable of holding magic power of any kind when charged. Crystals charged with electricity magic power homes, crystals charged with healing magic act as medicine, crystals charged with sky magic are used for air travel. “Crystal screens” or usually just called “screens” are a huge recent invention, this world’s version of smartphones. They are all connected by three five communication crystals across Anthea, and each charged with magic energy, but of course the most important aspect is in the crystals connecting them.
However not everything is perfect in this modern wizarding world, there’s still plenty to clean up after what Crocus left behind, even if it was nearly 1000 years ago. The current year is 997AM, after magic. That’s three years before the Crocosmi Order prophesied his return. The order is an organization that stayed devoted to Crocus. They work towards bringing the Father of Monsters back, in order for him to defeat his “sister” and bring true freedom for them, that’s what they’re promised. However the reality of the situation is that’s an empty promise, and it’s just a cult brainwashing and abusing its followers the same as any other. The one calling the shots right now is in it for personal gain, a megalomaniac that won’t stop at anything to gain control of everything, and who has no issues manipulating and abusing people to get what she wants, including children. An issue that may spell trouble for a certain new class of children at Hecate Academy.
A class that the aforementioned current Princess is attending, guided by her personal magic teacher, who has now become the newest homeroom teacher. At first she and her classmates struggle with the ins and outs of highschool and adolescence, their general coming of age struggles blend together with all the magic and wizards and fantasy. But what they don’t know is that something more sinister is lurking, and their magic highschool experience won’t be the regular kind. Through their struggles though, the kids form strong bonds, they learn to be themselves, and most importantly, they grow up.

Review Apple Arcade

Custom LEGO Minifigure of the Week - Galladian Knights by Steve Cady
http://www.brickwarriors.com/blog/custom-lego-minifigure-of-the-week-galladian-knights-by-steve-cady/
Check out these Galladian Knights, created, painted, and submitted to us by Steve Cady. This pair of Knights each wear a Pig Snout Bascinet, highlighted with gold, while the mounted Galladian Knight carries a Battle Axe and his partner wields an Arming Sword. I'm a big fan of the incorporation of the Spurs on the walking knight - sure, it could just be a fashion statement, but it's likely he also commands a Royal Steed should he need to cover ground quicker. Of course, Steve did a bang-up job with painting details on the shields and even the horse to really bring these Galladian Knights to life. Amazing!

E3 2018 Thoughts on Nintendo
So Nintendo over the years has learned to show only what’s coming out soon rather than bait fans with a teaser for a game that is way out in production (Looking at you Sony and Microsoft). In addition, they used their direct this year to push forward the versatility of the Switch as well as give a huge show of appreciation to the Smash Pro community that pretty much built itself from the ground up. I will give Nintendo this much, their booth this year, while not as cool as the Mario one last year, did have a lot going on and the game lines for just Smash and Let’s go Pokemon were over 4 hours long. They had to cut them off on all three days and set up areas for people to watch others play on big screens.
Also both of their tournaments did strong numbers this year, showing that Splatoon and Smash are still hitters in the E-sports area. Though now I hope Arms gets in there because that game is fun.
Dameon X Machenia reminded me a hell of a lot of the Super robot Wars games that come out for Gundam and other series. Yet this was very different. Flying robots to fight what looks like monsters/mecha seems like a fun way to pass the time. Also, based on the Tree house showing, there’s a customization element going on not just with the avatar (which you can chose your gender) but also the robot itself and it’s weapons. There’s also an area that looks to allow online play along with a single player campaign. Again, mixed feelings, unless you can invite people into the server that you want playing with you so that you know no jerks will just jump in and ruin the game. Over all I like what I see, but it’s a ways out. Nice of them to start with something exciting.
Super Mario Party looks amazing. So apparently we can have four players to one switch via the tv set up, but also two switches can be made to change up the board, which brings up the question, can you have more than four players playing if you have three or more switches? It’s Mario Party so most people know the drill for this one. I do like that they kept in a lot of things from the older titles and apparently we’re going to have Bowser as an option to play. This should be interesting to see, and probably will be a buy for me once I’m done with my back log of games.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna the Golden DLC. This could practically be a game in and of itself given the way that the story is taking shape here. It looks really interesting and is certainly filling in gaps in the story that we had from XC2. What I’m wondering is if Xeno will rival FF, Tales and DQ in the future with the story telling and now the world building. I should note too that the Challenge mode brought back in Shulk and Fiora from the first Xenoblade Chronicles story. Visually the game looks amazing and really got me excited to buy the DLC, and, apparently there is a second edition that let’s you get both the DLC and the original game. Similar to the FF XV Royal edition.
This one is the one that I’ve personally been waiting for. As a Fire Emblem Fan since way back from the Game Boy Advanced Version, it’s exciting to see an new FE show up on the Switch. Fire Emblem Three Houses showed up and wow. Since this is clearly an incomplete game there’s things that need to be worked on, but from what we saw I would say it’s really visually amazing. Reportedly the artist that did the art for the Uta wa no Prince Sama series is providing the art here. Though I don’t know because others are saying it reminds them of the artist from the Persona Series. I will say though that the character’s look amazing, and the fact that it’s not an Avatar in this game means that a lot of the story and depth of the story will rely on the characters interacting with one another. Another cool thing was the system where you can train the characters in different triangle weapons, which can become useful. From what we’ve seen there appears to be an open world aspect of this, and you can run around. Also units now have warriors with them and can create formations based on what you need. Over all this looks fun and the animation for the cut scenes are top notch. I won’t lie I’m a bit biased on this one.
Fortnite was a good move on the switch’s part, and the fact that they showed it in a way that is different than how Sony, Microsoft, or PC shows the game means that they can pull in players that normally may not want to play this. The vibrant color had me going “Wait…is that Fortnite? What the hell? Is it really that goofy?” as most version I’ve seen have had people wearing serious clothing rather than the goofy stuff that you can get. Honestly, if I was good at shooters and liked them, this trailer would have made me pick it up. I hope that people playing on PC and Xbox are having fun with Nintendo players…Sony, I know you were burned in the past by Nintendo, and have issues with Microsoft and for some odd reason hate PCs, but come on…stop locking people out of playing with others. Sheesh!
Hollow Knight, another interesting showing here. Hollow Knight I heard was a good get for the switch, given that it’s a fan favorite. Mix of platforming and fighting will work well on the switch. To be honest while it’s cute and all I’ll have to see if I want to get it.
Killer Queen Black is a surprise for some people, as it was a small arcade game that had a loyal following but was believed to not be able to be put on a console system. Apparently they did it. It seems to be a timed exclusive so it may not stay just on the Switch. Looks like fun, but I’m not a bee fan honestly. But it looks nice and I’m sure that other people will love to play it.
Overcooked 2, I can’t wait to get. It seems like an awesome game and one that I will be playing a lot with friends. Reminds me a bit of dinner dash but with puzzle elements and strategy. Should be a good buy for people that want to have something a bit more relaxing to play in it’s own way.
Octopath Traveler showed up again, and mentioned a new Demo. Square later went on at E3 to say that they’re going to make a division for the Switch so that’s a promising thing. The game’s demonstration at the tree house has made this a day one for me, which is rare outside of again, Fire Emblem. So this has me very excited and I hope to see more games like this and others from Square Enix on the Switch.
Let’s Go Pokemon: Pikachu/Evee. Pretty much seemed like Pokemon Yellow. I mean, you play with Pikachu following you around rather than in the ball, and it combines elements of pokemon go. On top of that you can transfer pokemon from go to the game, and you get a mew in the new pokeball add on...although I wish the price was a bit lower for that pokeball. Sheesh!
They had a quick run down of games coming out including: Octo Expansion, SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Ninjala, Paladins: Realm Royale, Roller Coaster Tycoon Switch, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition (may have shown this it went fast), sushi Striker.
Smash Brothers Ultimate, I know some were disappointed that this took up so much time, but there’s something that has to be said. This is really, outside of maybe the bigger tournaments, that Nintendo has shown that they have been paying attention to the pro scene for their fighting game. With all the tweeks that they did to this game, and allowing the characters in there the way that they did, they’re going to be a contender at larger game tournaments like Evo and the like. Back when the switch was first show in 2017 there was the whole E-sports section, and I think that Nintendo is actually looking into that with some of it’s games. The various things, like the one on one fighting being made to be more devastating when you have solo fights means that, for pros, the game will move faster. Having the different stage styles also means it’s better for the competition scene so that the game can be played there.
I’m glad to see Ice Climbers back, all my Fire Emblem characters are still there, Wii Fit is back, the amazing Pit is there still, I love that we now have Daisy –my girl –as a character to play as, and we finally got Ridley –after all this time… Now Sakurai, please put in Takamaru from the Mystery of Muramasa castle as not an assist and I will praise you to the high heavens. Oh yeah and Proto and Base (Bass?) are in Megaman’s smash now. (Proto as an echo fighter please? Or Zero?)
As for the other games that are coming out to Switch, while they didn’t show them all…here’s the list from E3 2018 of the games that are coming:
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion
Bomber Crew
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy –Rumors are going around that Spyro may also be coming too
Dead Cells
Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX
Dragon Quest XI –apparently yes it is coming for the switch.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends –tired of this being on your phone…use it on the Switch on the go.
Fallout Shelter
Fate Extella Link –Hey what do you know…the Fate series is now on the Switch
FIFA 19
Freedom Planet
Gal Metal –music game that has an interesting story
Galak-Z: Variant S –You like Gundam? You like arcade games? Well this is right up your alley
Harold Halibut
Just Dance 2019
Kingdom: Two Crowns
LEGO DC Supervillains
Little Dragons Café –What if you could raise dragons in the world of Harvest Moon, same creators
Mario + Rabbids DLC
Mario Tennis Aces –This was kind of interesting to see in the Tree house, making me consider getting it.
Mega Man 11
My Friend Pedro –Yeah the gag game that is coming to PC from Digital Revolver, it’s on the Switch.
My Hero Ones Justice –For those of us who want to smash things with Lord Murder Explosion (Bakugo)
NBA Live 19
Planet Alpha
Raji: An Ancient Epic
Shining Resonance Refrain –Kind of wish this one was shown, but Sega does what Sega does…
Spintires: MudRunner –basically you want to play with all terrain vehicles…then here you go.
State of Mind
Super Meat Boy Forever
Team Sonic Racing
Trials Rising –wish they would have shown some of this
Valkyria Chronicles 4 –Sega….you should have had your own direct…seriously
'V-Rally 4
Wargroove
Arcade Donkey Kong
That’s a lot of games coming out for the Switch…most of these would be fun to play…and that’s not even listing the ones that were already out prior to E3.
Over all, for presentation regarding the use of the Direct, I’d say A- to a B mostly because of the variety. Though I do think that they could have elongated their direct to give more showings of the games that weren’t Smash that were coming to the Switch.
