I remember seeing scans of one with Lewa sometime ago.
Also I remember the Lego Adventure magazine, it was in Poland as well, I had some issues of it. The 3D render comics were always there, but I've seen only system themes, for example Insectoids or City. I've only learned about Bionicle Adventure comics years after, seeing them on internet (not sure if they even were published in Poland, I think by 2001 the magazine may have already been discontinued here).
So I found out about an old non-canon Bionicle comic made for the Lego Adventure magazine and it is... something else.
Tumblr media
Instead of artwork it's almost like renders in dioramas with a filter placed over them.
The dialog ranges from standard to comically bizarre in the context of Bionicle, just take a peek at this page:
Tumblr media
Why is Gali standing so seductively?

ok so in this post, i mentioned that nami gives the strawhats money so they can decorate their rooms, and now i want to tell u guys what i think their rooms look like
luffy -
he probably has a little bit of everything.. like a race car bed, some dinosaur coat and hat hooks his beetle and frog collections is there and beside it is a little book robin wrote about what to feed each beetle (its written in very simple terms) its organized by name. think he has a book shelf in the shape of a rocket ship that has fun facts about his favorite animals and bed time stories when robin is too tired to make one up, theyre robins books and she reads to him since he is canonically the only person who doesnt have a book in the ships library. theres a dresser with beetle shaped handles but he has like 3 things in it. also he always has legos on the floor... no matter what
zoro -
he has a simple bed, simple dresser, simple decorations etc. the only notable things are probably the larg collections of workout materials, and protien powder.. he also has some pain ointments incase he hurts himself, chopper gave them to him and hed die before something bad happened to them. he doesnt rlly go in his room unless its for sleep so theres really not much there.. there isnt a closet bc he wears the same smelly thing everyday and washes it like once a month in the washing room
nami -
she has a loft bed w some bean bags under it, some nice comfortable sheets and what not.. some spare treasure lying around, probably some of her favorite maps up on her walls, or framed photos of the crew and her and bellemare/nojiko. her closet has lots of clothes in it, orginized by type of clothes. she has a caddy bag for her night time stuff, and she has lots of face masks and hair care products for various hair types so usopp and brook dont feel excluded
usopp -
he has a bunk bed! which on he sleeps on depends on his mood tbh but he loves the top bunk so much. he has various green stars on his dresser that he messes around w for stronger ammo. he has pictures framed all around the room, seeing a picture is almost as frequent as seeing his CLOTHES ON THE FLOOR!!!! he likes silly bed sheets and blankets a lot, and he has a journal where he writes down all of his adventures
sanji -
his prince side came out a bit tbh... HUGE bed w silk sheets, and puffy blankets, his closet is decked out in TONS of different suits and silk pjs. has cook books laid out on his nightstand displaying different recipes from different islands he wants to perfect. he probably has porn magazines under his bed tbh..
chopper -
his room has lots of pillows and blankets tbh... they couldnt find an adults bed he could reach and he didnt want a kids bed. usopp and franky made him a smaller adults bed but luffy got uoset bc that meant he couldnt fit in it when he sleeps over at his room, so chopper sleeps on the floor and his room is just covered in various blankets and pillows.. he likes it tho its like a huge bed
robin -
honestly her room is just a library w a bed in it... TONS of bookshelves and a bed in a corner... thats it
franky -
his room is also p simple, huge bed tho bc hes.. him. he doesnt own a closet bc he only wears undies.. his floor is covered in cola, oil, and unfinished projects.... its super sticky..
brook -
BAND POSTERS GALORE!!! tons of different instruments everywhere, he has a bed and a closet and thats p much it.. nots of music sheets tho! theres a trash w scrapped music ideas next to his door
jinbei -
hes a simple man! simple furniture and a neat room. he doesnt spend much time in it

LEGO jurassic world magazine series 2, 7th edition: RIVER RESCUE
premise: a handler loses a dinosaur egg. owen and claire help her rescue it.
Tumblr media
TEXT:
text box: Down at the docks of Jurassic World, Owen Grady is helping out with some new arrivals.
Owen: Ok, this cage seems strong enough. Just try not to wake the ankylosaurus unless you want to upset it.
Owen: Sleep tight everyone. Just try not to hatch too early.
Handler: Ok, looks like we're all set.
Owen: Stay safe. I've got to take Claire Dearing on a river tour of the island. She wants to see some locations for new attractions.
Handler: Don't worry, Mr. Grady. What can go wrong on my first day?
Tumblr media
text box: A short time later, and the ACU truck is taking the dinosaur eggs to their new home.
Handler: What's that rumbling? I hope the volcano isn't acting up.
text box: Close by, Sinjin Prescott is still treasure hunting.
Sinjin: Shoo you beasts! Can't you see i'm very busy here!
Handler: That's no volcano rumbling!
Handler: Phew. That was a close. Now lets go find that egg before it falls into the river.
Handler: Too late! This is not going "eggs-actly" like I planed...
Tumblr media
Handler: At least it stopped moving.
Handler: Phew. That was lucky. I can still get that egg back.
Handler: Let's take the plunge.
Tumblr media
Handler: Just a little further
Handler: Gotcha! Lets get you back on dry land.
Handler: Hey! Look out! You might break the...
text box: A bit further down the river.
Owen: So over here we have the prehistoric plains, which are mainly used by herbivores for feeding. Then further ahead are the rocky ridges because they're rocky and they have ridges.
Claire: These spots are ideal for new attractions! I'm thinking of an adventure playground for the kids and maybe one for the adults too! Oh, Mr. Masrani's going to love it.
Owen: I was thinking maybe a water park complete with a stegosaurus slide and petting pool. Wouldn't that be cool?
Claire: Owen! Watch out!
Claire: Owen! We missed our turn! This water's moving too fast.
Owen: Relax. It'll be fine. We'll get out before we reach the waterfall.
Tumblr media
text box: Meanwhile...
Handler: A stegosaurus and a waterfall! Please don't let this get any worse!
Handler: No puffing! I'm really friendly, honest!
Handler: Woah, that was a close one.
Handler: I have to grab that branch before I go over the edge.
Handler: Hey! Somebody help me!
Claire: Did you hear that?
Owen: Yeah, over there!
Owen: There's someone stuck over there! We don't have much time.
Owen: Here's the plan. I'm going to paddle as close as I can get. Once we're in position, throw the spare rope so the lady can grab on it.
Claire. Ok. I got it.
Owen: We're on our way. Start getting into position.
Claire: I think this is a "tipping point"!
Tumblr media
Together: I've got you!
Handler: Thanks, but first of all this egg needs to be safe. Here it comes.
Owen: Got it.
Claire: Now it's your turn. Hold tight.
Handler: Oh no. That's not good.
Claire: Hold on. I'm coming for you.
text box: In the meantime, Owen carries the egg quickly to safety.
Owen: Ok. You sit here for a few minutes and don't roll away. I've just got something I need to do.
Owen: My work is never done around here. I'm coming!
Owen: Sorry I'm late.
Claire: It's ok. I've got an idea.
Owen: Will you start sharing your plan soon? We're almost over the edge!
Claire: I know! Just one question for you...
Tumblr media
Claire: Guys, do you think this is a brachiosaurus?
Handler: Maybe she'd like to snack on this branch.
Owen: Ohhh. Yes! She sure does.
Owen: Hey there, girl! Take a bite from this! It's the tastiest branch ever!
Owen: That's it... and yes!
Together: Whoa!!
Owen: Great work, girl! The brachosaurus-plane has reached its destination.
Owen: Everybody prepare for landing.
Owen: Great landing everyone. Ten out of ten.
Owen: That was fun. Anyone want to do it again?
Handler: Seriously? Are you kidding me?
Tumblr media
Owen: Fair enough, but there's not enough room in this canoe for all of us.
Claire: Do you have another idea?
Owen: I don't know about you, but i've had enough boats for one day.
Claire: Me too, but unless some bricks to make a bridge, we can't get to the other side.
Owen: I thought you might say that.
Owen: OK! Plan B it is.
Owen: You two take this rope to the other side and wait for me. I'll follow with the egg once you're over.
Claire: Just be careful, ok?
Claire: This is actually quite fun.
Handler: You have a strange idea of what fun is. I never thought my first day on the job would be like this.
Owen: Go, go, go!
text box: A few moments later...
Owen: Now it's my turn. Ok, we're doing great so far. Just a bit to the left. No problem at all.
Owen: Whoa! Big problem now.
Owen: Somebody catch that egg!
Claire: Gotcha!
Owen: Well held! After such an exciting time, Claire and I will accompany you and get that egg back home.
Claire: And I've got an idea for a new attraction. The rapid river run where everyone has to do what we just did. Awesome or what?
Handler: Sounds fun...

Another discovery today: I won’t be able to buy Lego minifigures anymore!
To explain, you see I used to collect action figures, dolls, plushes, etc. Well, I say collect but not in a price guides and mint condition kinda way. It was more, “Oh, that looks cool! I’m putting you over there with the rest my army.” kind way.
Now back in the day I’d get tons of the stuff, not the super high end, but good ones. Most the nice ones are tied to memories. My parents trying to get a Sweeney Todd Hot Toy without me noticing was a super cute moment. Then there was the adventure in terrifying tow truck rides Mom and I had after driving to a mall 100 miles away to get a Sideshow Phantom of the Opera and breaking down. Lots of contests and gifts…
Anyway, back then I’d root through clearance shelves at places like Toys R Us, KB Toys, etc, or order super cool stuff because “OMG, they made a figure of (insert beloved character)” and as long as it was under $30 I wasn’t too worried. I mean, I once bought a bunch of Sideshow figures based on The Outer Limits because they looked really cool and were only $15 each on clearance. I could buy on whim.
But obviously that was financially a long, LONG time ago.
And yet I crave figures. I simply love three dimensional representations of living (real or imagined) things, especially with personalities. I’d collect statues if I were rich, but not being mass produced toys and “collectibles” satisfied that urge.
So, to keep myself happy as my money dwindled I just down graded what I could get. Like, ok, $30 is out, so maybe $20 tops, okay now $15. People bash POP figures, but for a while they were my go to fix. And then I decided they were too expensive too.
The last few years my “drug” of choice has been Lego minifigures, those little blind packaged things. Once every few months there would be a new wave and as a special treat to myself I’d give myself permission to get a couple.
Now the nice thing is I had a real knack for telling what was in them. I’d stand there getting weird stares as I groped the packets, but 100% of the time I’d get exactly the one I wanted.
And that’s the problem now. They have changed the bloody packaging! The new wave is in boxes, with nothing to feel!
Yes, back in the day I had a talent with those blind boxed Funko figures, but that was different. Those figures are much bigger with more variation in construction. With an ability to feel the small differenced in weight and to rock them to see how they shifted I had a very high success rate. But Lego figures are too tiny, constructed too much the same, and in too many pieces.
I looked forward to buying myself a $5 treat now and again. In fact my little Mulan, Stitch, and Robin Hood from the last Lego minifigure wave are looking at me from my computer. But now I assume they will be my last.
Those $5 minifigures were the last way I had to scratch my figure itch. I simply cannot afford to buy $5 just crossing my fingers I get the one I want, or worse, buy three and get three identical ones I don’t want. I do NOT gamble, not with money.
It’s right up there with when I had to give up buying comics, or my magazine subscriptions, or going to book stores, or going to the movies. I took these things for granted after doing them a life time, and had assumed I could just do them more rarely, be more selective, find cheaper options….
But nope.
Life is about the process of letting go of all the little joys I guess. Eventually you run out of little joys, so maybe that’s when you die or something. I dunno.
**sigh**
This no where else to retreat to realization has made me sad.
Damn, I wish I could sculpt worth a damn. Maybe I could fill my need that way…..
