Drift This Way
Summary: *SEASON 2 SPOILERS* Tech wins the pod race. You can't help but express your worries.
A/N: I was gonna wait to post this tomorrow but I was just too excited. ALSO, @space-girl-and-droids-art inspired the tattoos mentioned, with THIS art!!!! STILL OBSESSED!!!!! <3
Pairing: Tech x Reader
Warnings: 18+ MINORS DNI; None
WC: 1K
TAGLIST FORM
Gif Credit: @starqueensthings
Tech won the riot race. It was both thrilling and terrifying. After seeing what happened to Tay-0, you were horrified. If that happened to Tech… you don’t know what you would have done with yourself. It’s not like you could put Tech back together like you did with Tay-0, twice.
“You’ve never done this before.” You grab Tech before he starts to walk over to the pod. “What if you crash and die?”
“The odds of that happening are-” He starts but the announcer starts to tell everyone to make their way to their pods.
You tighten your grip on his hands. “If you die, I won’t forgive you.”
He smiles ever so slightly. “Do not worry.”
Your worrying was surprisingly for nothing. He was actually a natural. Which shouldn’t surprise you at this point.
When you get back to Cid’s ship, Omega starts to talk about how they should go to more riot races but you quickly shut that idea down. When Hunter finds out, he’s probably going to blow a fuse.
“Are you alright?” Tech asks when you sit down in the co-pilot seat.
You nod. “I’m fine. You?”
“I’m fine as well. I was referring to your earlier comments about not forgiving me if I died, though.” He raises an eyebrow as he looks at you.
“Oh. That.” You feel yourself go warm in the face with an awkward chuckle.
“That.” He nods.
You shrug. “I don’t know… I shouldn’t be surprised that you’re so good at pod racing.”
“You shouldn’t.” He teases, lightly and you roll your eyes.
You both are quiet for a bit, listening to Wrecker and Omega ask Cid more questions about pod racing. Cid starts to tell her about the legendary pod races that they had on Tatooine and Omega asks if you can go see them next.
“NO.” You and Tech say, simultaneously.
Looking at each other, you can’t help but laugh.
“You know… I have to admit, seeing you be confident in your racing was something.” You tell Tech when you get back to Ord Mantell.
“Always the tone of surprise.” He tuts.
You grin up at him as he sits at the bar in Cid’s.
“It was nice to see you confident, is all.” You shrug, taking a sip of your drink.
“Do you prefer it when I’m confident?” He asks, leaning on the bar so that he can look at you.
Is Tech flirting? With you? “I think I like any version of you.”
“Noted.” He nods, drinking his own drink.
Later that night, you pace quietly in front of Tech and Echo’s room above Cid’s multiple times before giving up and starting to walk back to your own.
“Is that you pacing outside my door?” Tech peeks his head out.
You look over at him, nervously. “Uh, yeah… sorry.”
He walks out in just his sleep pants, his bare chest showing his tattoos that he’s gotten over the years. You’re taken by surprise. You didn’t peg Tech as the tattooed type. Also, how have you never seen him shirtless before now?
Your mind goes slightly blank at the sight of him. “Um…” He steps toward you, letting his door slide shut behind him and you meet him halfway, as if you can’t help but gravitate toward him. You always do.
“I’m sorry if it seemed like I didn’t believe in you today. I should have been more supportive.” You lean against the wall in between your doors.
“It’s alright. I understand you were just worried.” He nods. “Even if I still don’t fully understand why.”
“Do you not?” You want desperately to reach out and trace the markings on his skin, to touch him.
He shrugs. “I have a couple of guesses.”
“Tell me.” You step closer to him.
His lips part slightly as he looks down at you with fidgeting hands, as if he wants to reach out and touch you as well.
“My first guess is that you’d be upset that you would be down a pilot if something happened to me.” He murmurs.
You chuckle. “I think Echo and Wrecker could manage piloting.”
“Have you ever flown with Wrecker?” He asks and you know he’s being serious but you can’t help but laugh.
“Guess again…” Your fingers brush against his.
“Well…” He fixes his glasses with his other hand. “My next guess, I suppose, would be… you would be emotionally compromised or have some sort of fondness for me…”
You roll your eyes, amused. “That’s one way to put it.”
“I… also have a fondness for you.” He glances down at your lips.
Your heart skips a beat at the goggled genius’ confession. A confession you were sure you’d never hear. Tech feels about you the way that you do for him.
“Really?” You ask, feeling brave enough to slide your hand up his warm chest, settling over the skull and 99 tattoos.
“Really.” He takes your hand and holds it there… over his heart.
Reaching up on your toes, you brush your lips over his lightly and timidly. Tech slides his arm around your lower back, pulling you close to him, deepening the kiss. Being confident, you realize. He sighs softly into the kiss, as if he’d been waiting for this just as long as you had.
You both hear a throat clear and quickly pull away from each other to look in time to see Echo walk into his and Tech’s room. With a roll of his eyes, Tech shakes his head at the intrusion.
But when he looks back at you, it’s full of adoration and kindness. “Maybe I ought to risk my life more often, if it incites a reaction out of you like that.”
“Very funny.” You pull him back to you so you can kiss him again.
“Do you two mind?” Hunter’s voice is in the hallway next.
“Maker…” You groan.
“I’ve got an idea.” Tech smirks, walking back to his room to put on a shirt and then coming back out. “The Marauder is currently unoccupied.”
“You’re a genius.” You kiss his shoulder as he leads you down the back steps that lead to the outside.
“Of course I am, darling.” He smirks.

The Modal Commander Servitor
An approach to a Magic: The Gathering servitor subtype. This is one of my UPG-filled personal projects.
There are many approaches to making a servitor. There are ways to advance that servitor straight to thoughtform. There are even ways to make an egregore with other magic practitioners. So that’s not what this post is about, though I will leave resources at the bottom for that [1]. This post is about using pop culture in tandem with magic to make a servitor even more powerful. I’m warning you now, we get well into the mechanical weeds of Magic: The Gathering in this one.
The thought came to me a while back in a Discord server with some magic-practicing pals. I got the idea to use my Magic: The Gathering Commander decks as modal spells (more on this term later), which then turned into ideas for making them servitors. To quote myself,
But more to the point, the idea of a Commander deck is that you have a central Guy in charge of particular Things and you typically build the deck around that, so why not treat the central Guy as a servitor empowered by the tools built into the deck (in the form of supporting cards) to accomplish a goal, and it’s empowered every time you play the deck. It’s basically outsourcing magic bullshit to eldritch monsters from between the planes, a toddler cactus person, several pirates, the gods’ most unfortunate bisexual, and a lawyer.
And then I put the idea aside for a while. Summer, my fallow period, happened. But when I came back to my practice near the start of autumn, I found myself revisiting servitor/thoughtform ideas, which prompted me to return to my old notes on Modal Commander Servitors, the Hireling Sliver Hivemind Linking Sigil System (SHILLS), and Echo Summoning. We’ll only be focusing on the first in this post.
But let’s start at the beginning. The crux of this servitor is that it is the Commander of your Commander deck, so let’s talk about the Commander format.
The Commander format (as officially known by Wizards of the Coast aka WOTC) is also called Elder Dragon Highlander or EDH. It is a casual multiplayer format with a competitive form known as cEDH. You have a deck that is 100 cards strong, and with the exception of basic lands, you can only have one copy of a card in your deck. Commander is centered around a Legendary Creature (or, more rarely, a Planeswalker) who exists in the “command zone” separate from the main deck but that still counts towards that 100-card limit. Under certain circumstances, you can have two Commanders (such as with the Partner, Partner With, Friends Forever, Choose a Background/Background, or Doctor’s Companion mechanics). You start at 40 life, and if you end up at or below 0 life, or you take 21 points of Commander damage from a single Commander, you lose the game. Your deck’s available colors are restricted only to your Commander’s color identity – every color that appears in their card, not just the ones in their initial mana cost. [2]
There’s a lot more to it than that, but for the purposes of this post, we’ll be focusing on your Commander itself rather than its format.
Depending on your approach to pop culture entities (PCEs), you may already see them as faces of existing entities (such as Karametra being a face for Demeter) or as embodiments of archetypes (such as Bertram Graywater embodying the “corrupt lawman” of the Western genre). However, these are far from the only approaches. My personal approach is “everything is already so goddamn weird, so why wouldn’t they exist”. Luckily, when creating a servitor, we’re not drawing on an existing PCE. Instead, we’re forming our energy into the shape (and sometimes personality) of one!
In the meta sense, a player of Magic: The Gathering is a planeswalker (a mortal with a spark in their soul that allows them to travel to other planes and access the magic of other planes even if they aren’t there), battles with other players are duels with other planeswalkers, and their deck represents their allies – other planeswalkers they can call in favors for aid with, creatures and allies they can summon for help, and spells and other resources they have at their disposal. [3] Therefore, your Commander is your greatest ally who can help you in this duel, one whom you can keep resummoning easier than others (as seen by the command zone being a separate zone from the graveyard). The crux of this format, in a meta sense, is that your Commander wants to help you. So why not make it into a servitor, a type of energyform, so it can help you for more than merely games?
Okay, so we’ve covered the Commander, and you presumably already read up on servitors and thoughtforms recently. But what about that other word, modal? Modal is an MTG mechanic that gives you the choice of two or more effects of a spell or ability when it’s cast or otherwise put on the stack. Modes are the different effects you may choose on a modal spell or ability. There are keywords that add onto it (escalate, entwine, and spree) that allow you to pick more or all of the options at once. [4] If you’re worried about what “the stack” is, don’t, it’s not actually relevant for what we’re doing with this servitor. Not even MTG players understand the stack. The point is, modal means options, and the only thing better than good stuff is options for good stuff.
So let’s put all of these definitions and mechanics together. A Modal Commander Servitor is an energyform stored in a Legendary Creature (or Planeswalker) card in charge of a Commander deck who uses the cards and resources in the deck (or otherwise given to them) in order to adapt to whatever you need it to do. They’re created like normal servitors and can draw on the same energy sources as normal servitors, but they can also draw power from the lands in their Commander deck. They can be empowered by both magical and in-game usage. The deck theme and archetype (such as an Otter Typal deck for Bria, Riptide Rogue or a Ninjutsu Theme deck for Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow [5]) also tie into and empower the Commander as both a Commander and a servitor. Sure, you can build a deck completely divorced from its Commander, but you’re kneecapping yourself and your Commander by doing so.
Let’s circle back to the Partner mechanic. It appears in multiple forms – Partner, Partner With, Friends Forever, Choose a Background and Background, and Doctor’s Companion. These abilities give you the ability to have two Commanders for your deck, with caveats.
Let’s start with Partner, the broadest form of this mechanic. Any Commander with Partner can team up with any other Commander with Partner. While most are monocolored (and there’s a colorless one that you get to choose the color of), there’s also quite a few that are dual-colored, meaning that your deck can have up to four colors with two Commanders. Of course, you could absolutely use two Partner Commanders with the same color identity to make a monocolored deck. There are definitely benefits to that approach, depending on which Commanders you choose. (Cough, Akroma, Vision of Ixidor partnered with literally anyone.)
“Partner With” is similar, but it restricts you to premade pairings. This was seen in the Battlebond set, the Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths set, and several Universes Beyond (aka, officially licensed crossover cards) sets like the Lord of the Rings Commander decks, the Doctor Who Commander decks, and the Assassin’s Creed set. “Partner With” is just a chunk of its keyword. Part of the keyword itself is the card that the Commander is...well, partnered with. “Partner With” is not the mechanic fully, because the full mechanic is “Partner With [specific card]”.
Choose a Background and its partner, the Background Enchantment subtype, were introduced in the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate set that came out well before Baldur’s Gate 3, leaving most of us confused about all of these named Commanders like Shadowheart and Karlach and Wyll. Backgrounds were a new way to add something to the Command zone that wasn’t necessarily a Creature or Planeswalker – instead, they’re Enchantments that boost your Commander. Even better, they work as part of the normal Commander deck, so they can still boost your Modal Commander Servitor even if they’re not in charge of it!
Friends Forever is a type of Partner originally tied to the Stranger Things Secret Lair cards that was brought in-universe with the Innistrad re-workings of those characters into more lore-accurate cards; any card with Friends Forever can team up with any other card with Friends Forever, but this one can even give you access to all five colors of mana.
Doctor’s Companion is a Partner keyword from the Doctor Who Commander decks that allows the cards with that keyword to partner with any Commander who has the subtype line “Time Lord Doctor”. My coworker, who is way more into Doctor Who than I am but knows very little about Magic: The Gathering, was absolutely giddy when she saw how that worked.
I understand that this is a lot, so let’s circle back to the primary point: using Partner Commanders means that you essentially have two Commanders to try and deal with in a Modal Commander Servitor context. I can think of a few ways to handle this, personally. One way is to just have two servitors and allow them to work together or separately to accomplish goals. Another is to treat them as two sides of the same servitor, drawing on one side at a time. A third that I can think of is to just address them as one unit, since that’s what your Commander deck is – a fusion of their two abilities to create a stronger whole.
There are also the Companions to consider. The Companion mechanic debuted in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths in 2020, and it was panned as a mechanic. Even being reworked for the Multiverse Legends in 2023 reprint didn’t help the mechanic much. Notably, Lutri, the Spellchaser was banned in Commander the moment it was previewed [6] and Yorion, Sky Nomad can’t be used in Commander because it requires your deck to have more than the 100-card limit the format has. [7] But the other eight Companions are able to function as Companions (provided you have that Rule 0 talk with your pod about allowing a sideboard) within the constraints of the Commander format [8], thus giving you a 101st card and, potentially, an additional servitor. While they may not necessarily be an additional Modal Commander Servitor, they can be crafted as an additional, lesser servitor to aid your Modal Commander Servitor.
And no, you can’t use it as both a Commander and a Companion. The “only one card” rule still applies, so you have to choose one. However, provided that both of your Commanders meet the Companion’s requirements, you can absolutely have two Commanders and a Companion.
Do you see what I mean about getting into the weeds?
So what about when you’re done with your Modal Commander Servitor? My approach is to use a built-in “kill switch” to dissolve the servitor and, since this is tied to a specific Commander deck, to dismantle the deck and cleanse the Commander card. Simple and to the point, because I like simple and to the point.
I also made it easy to activate and dismiss my Modal Commander Servitor. I build all of my energyforms with activation phrases that will pull them out of “hibernation” and dismissal phrases that send them back to it. This allows them to rest and regain energy without having to be actively used. I used this same method and theory for my own Modal Commander Servitor.
I am also in a pod that believes in using every card we own, so even if a card is officially banned in Commander by the Commander Rules Committee (before they recently disbanded) or Wizards of the Coast, we still use them. (I feel the need to mention that I primarily play against my mother, who was a Magic: The Gathering player from the early days and does not believe in mercy.) Naturally, if you play with a specific group, you can talk to them about in-pod bans and allowances, but if you play against random people, it’s probably best to listen to the existing banlist. Of course, with WOTC in charge of the bans now, there’s going to be a whole power scaling thing... Lowkey, this format is kind of a mess right now because people lost their ever-loving minds recently. [9] But this is a post about pop culture occultism, not...that mess, so let’s move on!
For the rest of this post, let’s step through a theoretical Modal Commander Servitor. We’ll pick Yorion, Sky Nomad [7] because I feel bad for it. Although it can’t be a Companion, it’s still entirely legal as a Commander! Yorion is a White and Blue Legendary Bird Serpent for five mana, getting up into the pricier side of a Commander. It has four power and five toughness, meaning it can hit your opponents decently hard and take a pretty big hit. It has the Flying keyword, meaning that it can only be blocked by creatures with the Flying and/or Reach keywords. When it enters the battlefield, you get to exile any number of other, nonland permanents that you both own and control; they then come back to the battlefield at the beginning of your next end step. This is commonly referred to in MTG as “blinking”.
So this is pretty good, at least to me. You can bring it into the battlefield and exile any number of things that also have “enters the battlefield” triggers to get them to pop off once more. And looking at Yorion’s EDHRec page, a lot of people had the same idea. As of writing this, there are over one thousand decks on EDHRec that focus around blinking with Yorion at the helm. But blinking isn’t the only thing Yorion can do. Plenty of deck themes also feature cantrips (cards that draw you cards in addition to doing something else), those damned Persistent Petitioners (who can make your opponents mill their deck until they die from running out of cards), cloning, Flying, and so on, though none of them have nearly the number of Yorion decks that blinking does. Personally, I’d build a Bird deck, because I’m predictable and like Typal decks. I would add cards like Skycat Sovereign, Watcher of the Spheres, Favorable Winds, and other cards meant to boost Birds or Flying creatures. Ultimately, I would focus on making this a functional Commander deck first and foremost, because I’m not going to keep a deck around if it sucks ass. That kind of defeats the point of the Modal Commander Servitor – in order to make it more powerful, you need to use it for both kinds of magic.
So that’s the “Commander” part figured out. Let’s shift focus to the “Servitor” section. I have a fairly quick yet simultaneously detailed approach to making servitors. [10] The important things to emphasize when building this Modal Commander Servitor are to name the servitor for the card (including any epithets or surnames on the card you’re using), to give them the ability to draw on the cards/resources in their Commander deck, and to specify that your Modal Commander Servitor is just that when you are speaking it into existence. Give them the ability to adapt and whatnot.
So now we’ve got a Modal Commander Servitor. Personally, I would focus on pouring energy into it and giving it simple tasks at first so it can get its feet under it. Being spontaneously brought into existence is disorienting, even for things that can’t think for themselves and aren’t sentient, so I give my servitors a chance to exist and hang out in their “dismissed”/hibernation state so they can get used to existing.
Now, let’s talk about potential specificity. Even though I keep my Modal Commander Servitors extremely vague and adaptable, you can outline the particular modes you need them to function in more specifically. For example, Yorion can be given different “modes” focusing on categories of magic typically aligned with White and Blue, such as protection, scouting, travel, and elemental air and water. This can help if you want the Modal Commander Servitor to be more specific than “do whatever”. If you follow the “all entities are ultimately facets of a bigger entity” approach, you could have Yorion channel parts of the Bird overspirit or the Serpent overspirit, if that’s your spiritual cup of tea.
Ultimately, the point of the Modal Commander Servitor is adaptation and flexibility. Sometimes, you just need to outsource a problem and you don’t have the time to make a more specific Guy for it, but if you already have one of these handy, you can just point them at the issue and wait to see what happens.
I hope you enjoyed this post! It got...pretty long, but I think that’s ultimately for the best, since it enabled me to pack more detail in. If you end up doing this, please let me know what you do and how it goes! I’m eager to see what other people experience with this deeply UPG-based approach to servitor creation and usage.

side note: these last couple comebacks jia has really taken to helping lino monitor dance practices and stuff of that nature.
she has gained a lot of confidence in herself as a dancer.
anyways, they took some time to just do their little things independently.
it was giving very much study with me video.
a gift for the stays in school for real.
she also got to guest host on inkigayo.
this is the second time she's guest hosted on a music show and she really needs a full-time slot, someone get on that.

The Chains Pokémon partner parings explained.
Hi this is that post where I try to explain my reasoning for pairing each Link with their Pokémon partner + a little fun fact about each Pokémon.
Sky with Dragonite
Sky and Dragonite have quite a few things in common. Their both big, loveable, caring beings who are always ready and willing to help those in need, their both also A LOT stronger than they initially seem. Sky being a literal demon god slayer, and Dragonite being a Pseudo Legendary Pokémon that can control the weather at will.
I imagine that Sky met his Dragonite before his adventure when it was still a little Dratini, they love to take naps together, and go on long flights around Skyloft.
Fun Fact: Pseudo Legendary Pokémon get their title from the fact they have a base stat total of 600, which is the same as most Legendary Pokémon, and are extremely difficult to evolve, Dratini taking 55 levels, or 207,968 experience points earned to evolve into its final form, Dragonite.
Four and his Eeveelutions
To be honest there really wasn’t any other Pokémon besides the Eevee line that had enough evolutions or unique forms/variants to give Four. But even then it’s still a good pick, Eevee can evolve into one of 8 different Pokémon. Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, and Espeon being the most obvious picks for Four/The Colours, Jolteon being the next best thing for Green since there’s no Flying type Eeveelution, and Espeon for Vio due to his book smarts and relation to Shadow, with Vaporeon and Flareon being perfectly fitting for Blue and Red respectively.
I picture Four meeting his Pokémon between his adventures in Minish Cap and Four Swords Adventures, as Eevee, and then taking them with him through the latter adventure. And while Green, Blue, and Red found the evolution stones to evolve their Eevee at some point or another throughout the adventure, Vio and Shadow’s Eevee evolved during their time together when Vio was pretending to be a traitor (Eevee evolves into Espeon and Umbreon through high Friendship during the Day and Night respectively). And that while the Colours were struggling to work together during FSA, their Pokémon were working with each other just fine. After Shadow sacrificed himself, Four cared for his Umbreon.
Fun Fact: Shadow’s Umbreon likely knows Shadow isn’t really gone, but has no solid way of communicating this to Four.
Time with Celebi
Pretty simple really. Time is a time travelling fairy boy from the forest who’s possessed by a deity, Celebi is a time travelling forest guardian fairy who IS a deity.
I believe that Time would meet his Celebi some time after Majora’s Mask, but before the War of Ages.
Fun Fact: Time’s Celebi is nicknamed Navi.
Double Fun Fact: Time’s Celebi Navi may or may not actually be several different Celebi (Cuz there’s actually like a bajilion of these lil onions babies all zipping throughout time and space) and Time has yet to figure this out.
Note: Still a’nt actually settled on whether Navi IS multiple different Celebi or just one single Celebi. Tell me which one you guys think it is in the comments. I genuinely love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
Or I might make a poll or something.
Legend and Lopunny
With the fact that Lopunny is a rabbit Pokémon with a pink shiny, the connection seems pretty surface level, and that I paired the two just cuz I genuinely like Lopunny (Which I admittedly do) but when you look a little deeper into Lopunny’s character, they actually do have more in common with Legend other then aesthetics.
For one, Lopunny evolves via Friendship (Like Espeon and Umbreon) HOWEVER Buneary, Lopunny’s pre evolution, is actually hard to befriend at first, as Wild Buneary always start out with a friendship level of 0, (something usually reserved for Legendary Pokémon) Legend too is a bit rough around the edges and a little hard to get to open up at first, but a loyal companion and friend once he lets people in. As well Lopunny, while not one to go out of it’s way to pick fights, IS a strong and capable fighter, who could hold its own alongside Legend in combat, and much like how Legend has a wide variety of tools in his arsenal, Lopunny is able to learn a wide variety of Moves. Plus both Legend and Lopunny could totally put on one heck of a show if they wanted to.
I would think Legend meets his Lopunny as a Buneary after all his adventures where set and done (But before LU of course) and while they didn’t get along all too well at first, they actually warmed up to each other rather quickly and have become the best of pals since.
Fun Fact: Due to how Pokémon breeding and Egg Groups work, Legend’s Lopunny is able to be siblings with Fable’s partner Pokémon, a Delcatty.
Twilight with Herdier
I wanted to pare Twilight with a Pokémon that would not only work well with his profession as a Rancher, but also not overshadow or replace Epona’s relationship with Twilight, nor the Chains relationship with Wolfie. So I went with Herdier, A loyal and sturdy hard working dog Pokémon that just like real dogs has been working with humans both on and off the farm since ancient times.
Just like Legend and his Pokémon, Twilight meet his Herdier back when it was still just a little Lillipup some time after Twilight Princess, and they do everything together! Work, play, fight, and just overall in joying the simple things in life, Herdier loves to play with the village children, and is happy with its life with Twilight overall.
Fun Fact: Twilight’s Herdier is actually already passed the level when it should have evolved, but hasn’t due to it holding an Everstone, a item that, when held, prevents a Pokémon from evolving even when the conditions for evolution have been met. Herdier has the Everstone because it’s happy as a it is right now, and is in no real rush to evolve, and Twilight respects his Pokémon’s wishes to say a Herdier.
Wind and Clauncher
Again a pretty simple reasoning behind this pairing. Wind loves the Great Sea, the colour blue, and lobsters. Clauncher is a Water type Pokémon that lives in the sea, that is blue, and is a lobster.
Again just like Legend and Twilight, Wind meets his Clauncher after his adventures in Phantom Hourglass, but before LU. Wind loves his Clauncher, and Clauncher does love Wind back, tho that doesn’t mean they don’t get in fights, as Wind and his Clauncher are both hotheads. (Wind taking weeks to get Clauncher to stop attacking Arill’s Wingull, or any Wingull in general for that matter, and being VARY upset with Clauncher during that time. And Clauncher being upset when Wind thinks that he isn’t good enough as a hero or a big brother, despite it being completely untrue, casting Clauncher to become moody with Wind) But they can still both be sincere when it really counts. And will comfort the other when the other is feeling down.
Fun Fact: Wind’s actually had his Clauncher for the same amount of time that Legend and Twilight have had their Pokémon for, but Clauncher has yet to evolve due to Wind lacking the Time to properly train it.
Hyrule with Ribombee
I paired Hyrule with Ribombee due to their similarities. Hyrule is half Fairy, and Ribombee is a duel Fairy type Pokémon. Hyrule is a capable Magic user, and Ribombee is a strong Special Attacker. Hyrule has the ability heal his allies, as so too does Ribombee. Not to mention their both small and cute.
I imagine that Hyrule actually meet his Ribombee as a Cutiefly during his first adventure in Zelda 1, and that while Hyrule was apprehensive about bringing a tiny little Bug Pokémon like Cutiefly on a dangerous quest, Cutiefly did a surprisingly good job holding it’s own against the monsters in the dungeons. And after that, the two have been best buddies ever since.
Fun Fact: Hyrule’s Ribombee has the Ability Honey Gather. Meaning after a battle, Ribombee has a chance of just finding some random honey. Ribombee happily shares this questionable sourced with Hyrule afterwards.
Warriors and Aegislash
Picking out a Pokémon partner for Warriors was the trickiest, I initially thought about giving him a Kingambit, but felt that it didn’t really suit him, as while Warriors does lead an army and is a tactician, I felt that Kingambit’s style of fighting didn’t really suit Warriors. Aegislash however are known to work with people and leaders such as kings, and are known to be good judges of character, which I feel was more fitting. Also I thought it’d be cool to have Warriors use his Aegislash like a sword. (The Pokédex says you shouldn’t do this, but it’s been established that the Pokédex is being written by edgy 12 year olds, and a character did it in one of the mangas, so it should be fine)
Warriors met his Aegislash during the War of Eras, not sure if was already an Aegislash or not tho. Despite the communication barrier between them, the two often do battle planning together, and fight really well together. Aegislash and Warriors a’nt afraid to tell the other off if they were bing stupid, or pushing themselves too far, but also are happy to compliment each other if the other for doing well.
Fun Fact: Warriors Aegislash has a Sassy Nature, meaning it loves bitter foods and hates sweets. Don’t ask me how a sentient ghost sword can eat, it just does.
Wild and his Hisuian Zoroark
And finally we come to Wild and his Zoroark. When I was looking through the Pokédex to see what Mons would fit well with Wild and saw Zoroark, I knew that it would make the perfect partner Pokémon for Wild. A loyal, wild fox Pokémon and master of trickery that will protect its pack no matter what.
Much like the others in the Chain, Wild did not meet his partner as a fully evolved Pokémon, but as a Zorua. But he didn’t meet it as a Hisuian Zorua. They meet each other when they were kids, before Wild had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and back when Zoroark was still a regular Zorua, they became close friends, and where together through thick and thin. Zorua was there when Wild became a knight, Zorua was there Wild when he became Flora’s appointed knight, Zorua was there during the memories, Zorua stood by Wild’s side when Calamity Ganon attacked, Zorua died by Wild’s side during the Battle of Fort Hateno.
And while Link was placed into the Shrine of Resurrection so that he may revive and defeat the Calamity 100 years later, Zorua was not. But Zorua did not need the Shrine of Resurrection. Through the power of they’re hatred for Calamity Ganon, and they’re love for their trainer Wild, Zorua rose from the dead, reborn into the world anew in the form of a Hisuian Zorua. They wanted on the Great Plateau for over a hundred years for Wild to revive, likely evolving during that time. And when Wild finally awoke, it was the happiest day of they’re life. But it was also they’re life, as Wild remembered nothing of his life before the calamity. But even then Zoroark stuck by Wild’s side throughout his adventures in BotW, through thick and thin, and they defeated Calamity Ganon together, along with the Champions, and Zelda. And while the spirits of the Champions and the King passed on afterwards, Zoroark did not, as always Zoroark continued to stand by Wild’s side, through TotK, and Beyond.
The Fun Fact about Wild’s Hisuian Zoroark, is that it uses its power of illusions to help Wild recall his lost memories.
OK! This was a long post but I did it, I hope you all find my progress interesting, and that I did a good enough job of explaining it. If you want to look into this sorta stuff yourself go for it. Sorry for the Wild bias, I hope you have a lovely day/night and goodbye.

Pokémon centers are unethical. They DEMAND that you - ugh - ball your pokemon before they'll heal them. What if my Zweilous wants to be free, huh? I'm not imprisoning him, I'll just buy healing items

I realized I forgot to post my second critical evaluation of Touhou-adjacent Matarajin hot takes meant to be a followup to this ask response a few months ago. Sorry. Time to remedy that.
My current lack of enthusiasm for Okina = Hata no Kawakatsu fan material comes from a somewhat similar place as my disdain for the reddit hot takes about Okina being Okuninushi (though it is obviously less severe). However, I’ll stress that this idea actually goes back to ZUN, instead of being a weird fanon invention - Kawakatsu comes up in the interview.
More under the cut.
ZUN calls Kawakatsu “part of her [Okina’s] true nature” (as a side note, 0 idea what the interviewer means by claiming Kawakatsu has some special connection to komainu; I guess everything at least vaguely Korean is interchangeable?). The fact he refers to Okina “a god of silkworm breeding” in her bio and the dupion spell card seem like Kawakatsu nods, too - Matarajin has nothing to do with sericulture. ZUN’s statements, and the references to the tokyo no kami episode in the game itself, led to a common fan idea that Okina is Kawakatsu outright - I’ve even seen weird theories about Okina being deified Kawakatsu.
In reality there is no source presenting Matarajin as a deification of a real or at least legendary person; he might be a yaksha, a dakini, a “regular” Buddhist deity, even a fox (in a single relatively late source, but hey) but evidently not a deified human (the closest you can get is the speculation about Matarajin being perceived as a tengu). There is also no source directly equating Matarajin and Kawakatsu with each other save for one specific oddity. Konparu Zenchiku in Meishuku Shū identifies Kawakatsu as one of the manifestations of an universal deity he refers to as shukujin, a label which is sometimes applied to Matarajin elsewhere. However, he at no point mentions Matarajin. His disciple Zeami then went further, equating Matarajin with Daikōjin, who is in turn identified as Kawakatsu, but, once again, we are dealing with fundamentally supernatural Kawakatsu, not with the deification of a person. The references are essentially implicit, and we’re dealing with “both might be aspects of a single person’s highly personalized idea of an universal deity”, not “it’s widely agreed figure a is figure b”. For what it’s worth, much more recently Sujung Kim did suggest a network encompassing Matarajin, various Silla-related deities (like Shinra Myōjin), the okina mask, the Hata clan and Kawakatsu specifically in her dissertation (Transcending Locality, Creating Identity: Shinra Myōjin, a Korean Deity in Japan; p. 204-205) but I haven’t really seen other authors bring this up, and she didn’t include a similar section in her subsequent Shinra Myōjin monograph if my memory serves me well. In her case it’s also not as straightforward as “Kawakatsu = Matarajin”, and crucially Shinra Myōjin, Matarajin’s actual Korean connection, is acknowledged; ZUN never brings him up and neither do any fan theories.
My other problem is that most of the Kawakatsu stuff is, frankly, boring. This is a bigger issue I have with the Asuka period Touhou aus though, tbh; nobody is adapting the stuff with immortal monks with laser eyes, immortality elixirs and Mononobe no Moriya being Devadatta, even though THAT’S the core of Shotoku legends. The equation with Kawakatsu essentially takes the complexity of Matarajin away since nobody interprets him the way Zenchiku and Zeami did, he’s consistently just a guy in Touhou hcs as far as I can tell. And that’s a bit boring. Especially when it effectively overshadows entire networks with liver-eating demons, underworld clerks, star deities, and Susanoo on top.
There’s also the question whether there is all that much Kawakatsu material to adapt in the first place. Can’t really do anything with the menreiki origin legend because it’s been done already, without Okina (I do think that was a mistake, but I doubt ZUN has even a slight idea that Okina will exist some day when he wrote Kokoro’s arc). The popular Edo period legend casting him as a reincarnation of Qin Shi Huang, while really fun, is not exactly easy to reconcile with any Matarajin background. There’s more promising material like legends considering him a manifestation of Bishamonten or Kōjin (under the name Ōsake Daimyōjin) but these require acknowledging the Matarajin connection is basically nonexistent.

This is a post absolutely nobody asked for because 0 of you follow me for Takes on music, but one of the pop music podcasts I listen to has been all in on Pop Girl Spring, and they played a little game the other week where they did a draft for the top 10 songs from all the albums they’ve been covering – so that’s the new releases by Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Maggie Rogers, Gracie Abrams, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Ariana Grande, and Kacey Musgraves, plus the currently charting album-less singles by Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan. And while I don’t have the fun structure of a competitive draft to play with, it did make me sit down and hash out my own Top 10, and I have literally nowhere to put the fruits of all that effort except Tumblr, so here’s way, way more words than anyone asked for about POP GIRL SPRING.
Listed in not-exactly no particular order, but also not in This Specific Order, like, this is not a countdown, I’m not ranking them with great specificity or anything. The 10 songs I need on my imaginary Pop League Team.
Good Luck, Babe! (Chappell Roan): Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is a great album and I think Roan has a great career ahead of her (knock on wood), but this is the first song she’s released that feels like a Timeless Hit to me, like the kind of thing that’s going to show up in Buzzfeed quizzes in the 2040s about picking the best songs from this decade. On god, this could be one of the best pop choruses ever written – starting with that fucking high note is such a flex! – and it’s such a poster child for how great, earwormy pop music can tell a fairly specific story and make it feel deeply universal. Legendary. No notes.
Espresso (Sabrina Carpenter): SONG OF THE SUMMER. Is it a better pop song than Good Luck, Babe? No. Is it the Song of the Summer anyway? Yes, because those aren’t supposed to be Timeless, they’re supposed to make you forever remember *this specific summer* in your life. It’s a great song with an unbeatable hook, and I dig the fact that it makes just slightly less sense than it probably should – caffeine is the metaphor for…how you’re going to stay up nights thinking about Sabrina Carpenter? Okay. Whatever you say. It’s not a song about anything, which sometimes is bad but in this case is amazing, and there’s something marvelously audacious about committing to lines like “walked in and dream-came-true’d it for ya.” Bonkers. Delightful. Carpenter has put out like 4 albums which does not seem possible for someone I up until now only vaguely remembered as “was on that nostalgia-bait Boy Meets World sequel series,” but man, she came to play with this one.
BILLIE GETS TWO
BIRDS OF A FEATHER: Hit Me Hard and Soft is a fantastic album, managing to edge further into straight-up pop territory without compromising the distinctive voice that’s made Eilish the Snobby Music Critic’s Pop Princess. I have no idea how long she’s going to be able to (or want to) keep splitting the difference between these two identities, but she’s doing it right now, probably doing it better than anyone since Little-Earthquakes-era Tori Amos. I chose this song because I think it does the best job of fusing those elements: it’s a right-down-the-middle love song in the classic pop vein of “i know my baby is a life-ruining trainwreck but honestly i do not care,” and it’s got good mid-tempo ballad structure with that little bit of haunted-ness that is Eilish’s signature sound, and I just think it’s probably the most solid song on the album.
CHIHIRO: This one is my *favorite* song on the album, which is why it’s here. I don’t know what it’s about. It’s not particularly “radio-friendly” (is that a thing anymore? What do we say instead of that? Digestible?) It’s slinky and vaguely threatening and it just feels like a song that nobody else could do. It’s the one that’s been most consistently stuck in my head since I first listened to the album. I feel like it’s flying under the radar a little, but I’m super here for it.
The Kill (Maggie Rogers): I feel like people sleep on Maggie Rogers because her marketing aesthetic seems kind of like, navel-gazing folky singer-songwriter, which is not all that Of the Moment right now. But the thing is, that’s really not accurate at all! Her music is just straight down-the-middle, strongly crafted pop, WHY is she not more famous? She’s so good! Don’t Forget Me is just so, so solid as a pop album, crammed full of songs that are massive hits in some alternate universe. “It Was Coming All Along” is my personal favorite, but for this list I’m sticking with The Kill, just because it seems to be the closest thing to a breakout hit off the album and I want to hype it up. It’s a bouncy, incredibly sing-along-able song about a mutually destructive relationship, what is not to love. Pop music was invented for this.
BEYONCE ALSO GETS TWO
BODYGUARD: Look, I’m going to level with you, I wanted to like Cowboy Carter a lot more than I did. For me, the album has exactly the same flaw as Renaissance did, which is that it fundamentally feels like Beyonce has done a *ton* of research for her music history degree, stuffed every bit of it into the album, and by god you are going to listen to her senior thesis on the Black roots of popular music. Both albums are like – so smart and so sincere and they just feel – a little bogged down to me. I don’t know. This may be entirely because I am just not on Beyonce’s level here, but there’s something about Cowboy Carter that makes it hard for me to really love as an album, rather than as a project. That said, there were several tracks I really liked, and this one’s probably my favorite, maybe because it sounds the most authentically like a Beyonce track to me. Whatever you think of Jay-Z or of the Carters’ marriage, it’s undeniable that a huge part of her as an artist and a human is tied up in this idea of being one half of their partnership, and when she does these “it’s me and my baby versus all the rest of you bitches” songs, she always strikes what to my ear is her most authentic, heartfelt notes. BODYGUARD has a cool, California-road-trip kind of vibe that puts me in mind a little of “03 Bonnie & Clyde,” but appropriately, more grown-up now.
YA YA: After complaining that a lot of her recent music feels a little too overstuffed with References, I have to say that this is one of the worst offenders – but it fuckin works. This feels deeply retro but not at all in a corny way, a great update of a certain kind of mid-century honky-tonk music that makes it feel vital and current. I don’t think Beyonce has truly hit the same high in terms of weaving her politics and her music together since Lemonade, but to me this song stands up well alongside that album (which for the record, I think was a generational achievement, a truly transcendent work of art). Also, as appropriate for a song whose theme is “shake your ass in defiance of a world that does not care about you,” the ass-shaking game is on point! I honestly wish this song had received all the success that went to TEXAS HOLD ‘EM, which is a song I truthfully feel is hokey and try-hard. This one covers the same ground but infinitely better.
Von Dutch (Charli XCX): I am a naysayer to Brat Summer, I’m sorry to say; I think Charli is a fairly decent pop musician and Brat is a fairly decent pop album, but I do Not get the hype. It’s got some worthwhile tracks, and I do appreciate that she’s allowed some space to excavate less-common themes in pop music – songs about wondering if now is when she should be having kids, about wrestling with the way that other women bring out her personal insecurities – rather than just the genre staples of Love and Partying and Being Awesome. That said. I think the best song on the album is just a regular-degular banger about partying and being awesome. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
YES, TAYLOR ALSO GETS TWO (man, it’s a 31-track double album! Get off my back!)
Down Bad: One of the things I don’t think Swift gets credit for, due to being overshadowed by the Harrowing Constant Drama of her personal life, is that she legitimately has a dry, off-kilter sense of humor that brings much-needed levity to the Harrowing Constant Drama of her body of work. TTPD is, among other things, a *funny,* self-aware album about how knowing full well that your emotions are absolutely unhinged vis-a-vis actual reality doesn’t actually do jack shit to keep you from drowning in those emotions. A lot of the hate for this album has really come from people who Do Not get the joke, who are cherry-picking verses and single lines from deeply self-aware songs without providing the context of that self-awareness. I love this song. I love the chorus: crying at the gym is a detail that’s perfectly, wryly relatable in its absurdity, and “everything comes out teenage petulance / fuck it, if I can’t have him I might just die” in that swingy, chipper groove is exactly why no one does it like she does, packing all that ambiguity and frustration and self-loathing of your own irrationality into a great hook. I love the fuckin alien abduction framing device to talk about a relationship whose impact inside your own head and heart is wildly out of proportion to its impact on the materiality of your daily life – a relationship that *might as well have* happened on an entirely different planet than the one everyone else lives on. It’s great. This is a great song.
The Albatross: So I wanted for the second TTPD track to pick something from the other side of Swift, the one that *is* deeply, irretrievably, uncomfortably emotionally sincere. There were definitely some strong contenders, but I kept coming back to this song, which I actually have heard very little chatter about, but has snuck up on me as an album favorite. I try not to get too lost in the labyrinth of Swift’s endless Easter eggs and self-mythologizing, but this is a song that I do think benefits from understanding its place in her personal biography; specifically I think it gains a lot from seeing it as a companion piece to “The Archer,” a softly agonized song from the beginning of a relationship about the duality of predator and prey, about wanting to go all-in but dreading the part of you that you know is capable of sabotaging this. The Albatross is – a softly agonized song from the ending of that same relationship about the duality of destruction and salvation, about wanting so much to protect someone you used to love from the havoc *that same love* has ultimately inflicted on their life. There’s a whole novel lying in the space between these two songs, and both of them feel raw and intimate in the way they expose the pain and vulnerability and shame that shadow the act of allowing yourself to love someone. TTPD was, in my opinion, rushed out too quickly, an experiment in presenting Swift’s emotions in a more unprocessed, uncrafted way to make a statement about art as a survival mechanism during emotional times, but an experiment that doesn’t entirely work; it truly could have benefited from another six to twelve months of cooking and a strong editorial pass. To me, this song is a glimpse of what TTPD could have been if instead of being rushed to press in the middle of her ginormous tour for the sake of her own catharsis, it had been given the space and attention that Folklore/Evermore were given. The Albatross is truly (like The Archer before it) an optimal wedding of Swift as a chronicler of her own interiority and Swift as a generationally gifted musical craftsman.
(I had a couple of also-rans, so shout out to Dua Lipa’s “Happy For You,” a song I really loved off an album I thought was kinda phoned-in overall, and Gracie Abrams’s “Tough Love,” through which I learned that there could potentially be something interesting about Gracie Abrams, someday.)

Ahoy to all One piece lovers comrades, I'm looking for beta readers/writing partners/collaborators for a story inspired by One piece but especially with an ultra pirate setting, which I'm working on
Hello everyone, I'm also trying to write here in the hope of having better luck and finding someone who wants to get into this project.
Mainly I'm looking for someone to do some healthy world-building with, who can sit down with me and brainstorm intensively and discuss character arcs, plot points and so on. I'm also looking for someone who is good at building and narrating fighting scenes, as there will be quite a few in this story.
In addition, I'm looking for artists/illustrators who are interested in collaborating and making designs of characters, places and whatnot.
Some additional information:
Compared to the canonical work, this story will have somewhat darker tones, with an atmosphere that also draws heavily from by many pirate-themed media, including the Pirates of the Caribbean saga.
This is an Oc-centered fic set in a universe where the characters who appeared in the canon series never existed and some events never happened. This is why it can be regarded as a completely original story, but one that draws heavily on and mixes elements taken from One Piece and the mysticism typical of swashbuckling and adventure stories.
Since I think the system created by Oda is quite good, I decided to keep it and expand some elements. I'm referring to groups such as Yonko, Shichibukai, Revolutionary Army, etc.
I have currently written and published well eight chapters of this fanfic reaching 36k words and a ninth chapter is being written.
Summary: "We didn't understand what we were attracted to until it was before our eyes."
Beyond the Grand Line, one of the world's greatest explorers unearthed something that should never have been found and could have thrown the world into chaos if it had fallen into the wrong hands. However, it seems that he himself went back to erase every trace of his journey, including the way to get there and the location of the treasure itself. Some 20 years later, a pirate with a mysterious past known as "The Devil of the Seas" and his extravagant crew are on the trail of the man and the clues he allegedly left behind before mysteriously vanishing into thin air. What is their purpose? What role does the World Government play with all this? And why are the Celestial Dragons so afraid of it?
In a nutshell, my story is about the incredible and chaotic voyage undertaken by Captain Morgan, or as he is commonly called "The Devil of the Seas," a former rear admiral turned very dangerous pirate and outlaw, in order to find a legendary relic to completely destroy the World Government and the World Nobles system, all the while recruiting a crew of such scoundrels and turning the whole world upside down.
Links to the fic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/41950965
Also, my purpose is also to create with my stories a solid community that is even more passionate about this fantastic work that is One Piece. It would also be cool for multiple authors who are One Piece fans to join together, each creating their own story set in my own universe. We could create spin-offs on various characters, sequels and whatnot. The only limitation would be our imagination. I'm sure there are many out there who feel the same way and are fascinated by this world.
So, come on! Don't be shy and jump aboard!
Let's have fun together!!!!
Dm me for more information or if you are interested or comment this post.

@dead-immortal I saw you didn't know about action economy in d&d. So here goes.
The general idea of action economy is (movement + action + bonus action + reaction) and is the sum of what an individual can do. Some things have legendary actions, and some have hasted actions, but for simplification we'll ignore those until the end of the post.
Your action economy adds to the total action economy of your party.
With a basic 4 member spread the action economy is the above x4. Simple enough right?
Well enemies also have a similar action economy. Which means the number of enemies directly relates to what all they can do in any given round.
(Side note for anyone not aware. A round is the sum total of turns. A turn is each individuals (movement + action + bonus action) reactions happen on someone else's turn usually so not added here)
So managing action economy is crucial to success in harder encounters. This is accomplished by either bolstering your own or limiting your enemies.
For instance, the spell slow forces enemies to choose one of the things in their action economy rather than allowing them to have all of them. Some spells remove all of their action economy. Dropping an enemy to 0 usually also removes their entire action economy. Finally, inflicting statuses also can reduce or entirely remove their action economy. Such as petrify, restrained, and unconscious.
Movement is simply how many 5ft places you can cross before you have to stop. So it's easy.
Your action is generally the big one and I'm not gonna explain everything you can do with it because honestly it's a lot.
Your bonus action is a smaller faster action that you can't always do something with, but has enough things that I'm not going into everything.
Reactions are also a part of your action economy, but usually aren't used. Generally they're for opportunity attacks caused by an enemy leaving your threatened area (usually the 5ft around you) and sometimes they're for spells such as shield.
So finally, legendary actions. Certain creatures have legendary actions that allow them to do one of their actions at the end of another creatures turn. Like attacking. These are often limited to a total of 3, but that can be a handful to manage regardless.
Hasted actions are singular actions offered by the haste spell. Usually this is used for a singular attack or to dash/disengage. This can also be held to do something on a reaction which is also something you can do with your action, but not your movement or bonus action.
Action economy is all of this for each individual, but also for each group. So what you can do in a turn + what your party can do, and the enemies.
Adding to what you can do and removing what the enemy can do are both things that directly relate to the success of the encounter in your favor.
I hope this helps.

The Full and Detailed timeline of the Monster World (Part 2)
I probably should’ve posted this earlier-
Read the 1st post please- https://www.tumblr.com/birbmonster/718583552743211008/the-full-and-detailed-timeline-of-the-monster
DISCLAIMER: You do not have to agree with this! It is inspired by the official lore, but blended heavily with my own headcanons and ideas. Please do not yell at me in the comments.
Quick note:
Monsters are species for this (with the expection of Legendaries and Celestials), with thousands of each in existence.
Cataclysm
Before- Just days before the unavoidable Cataclysm, Galvana created the Wubboxes and buried them underground, hoping they’d be protectors of the monster world when the Celestials couldn’t do anything.
During- Earthquakes crashed all across the continent, splitting it into 6 pieces, one for each natural island as well as the volcano. The outer islands were all destroyed in some way. Party Island was left to drift as a pile of rubble after Party the Glubpole escaped into the ocean, Space Island and Cloud Island plummeted, and Cave Island collapsed. This killed off hsomewhere between 85% and 95% of the monster world population.
The Fire monsters on the continent did not have a suitable place to live. The ones that happened to be nearby quickly scuffled into the Volcano to hide, led by a Kayna named Dawn.
The energies of the Cataclysm also somehow created Mythicals. Each of them hid away on their respective islands, except Cherrubles, for Fire Oasis didn’t exist yet, who lived in the living ocean. Most lived in small clans hidden from society, until they finally revealed themselves.
The Cataclysm also affected the Pocket Dimension, sending some single-element Ethereals and Magicals to the main one.
Great Pause
Right after the Cataclysm, as the smoke lifted, monsters slowly started gathering themselves together.
Natural Islands- The respective Ethereals were discovered hiding on each one after a few days. No Fire Monsters were found, so everyone assumed they were extinct. The respective Collossals each imbued their spirits into the islands. If they hadn’t done this, more of monsterkind could perish.
Fire Haven
Dawn gathered together the remaining Fire Monsters, and the few Naturals who had preferred to come too. They became one of the few rulers in the history of the monster world, and decided it was best to hide in Fire Haven until the other monsters uncovered them again.
Outer/Magical Islands
Far fewer monsters survived on the Outer Islands. They wouldn’t have survived if it wasn’t for the islands each landing on or near their respective Titans, where the Magical Singles first showed up. Turns out, it was possible for them to cross-breed with the Naturals, creating the Natural-Magical mixes seen on the Magical Islands today.
This era lasted an unknown amount of years.
Contemporary Era (also known as the “Extinguished Age” by some)
0 CE- The Contemporary Era began with the reestablishment of contact between the Natural Islands. Fire Monsters are already beginning to fall into legend. It is the beginning of a very different time.
12 CE- Holidays, such as Spooktacle and the Festival of Yay, begin to be celebrated again as Seasonals return.
104 CE- Possibility of ‘ascension’ is discovered, allowing Monsters to go to Gold Island.
232 CE- The first ever Wubbox is uncovered on Plant Island.
456 CE- Ethereals, which, even the ones hatched on the Natural Islands, always felt out of place, finally found out how to return to Ethereal Island and travel back and forth from there. Of course, some still decide to chill on the natural Islands.
502 CE- G’joobs and Yawstritches reveal themselves to the outside world.
532 CE- Strombonins reveal themselves to the outside world.
534 CE- Anglows and Hyhehes reveal themselves to the outside world.
4230 CE- A Wubbox awoken many years ago decides to try their hand at creating life of their own. After a few failed attempts, they finally managed to create the Wublins, and fled to a new, artificial island to give them a place to live. The island was surrounded by the stormy byproducts of a mortal creating life, so it is very hard to access.
4692 CE- A brief war broke out on Wublin Island, mainly between the Whajjes and Zuukers. Members of other species either hid from the war, or joined a certain side. The Wubbox of the island, who’d been living there since its creation, had to step in to stop it.
5320 CE- Mythicals discover the ability to travel to Mythical Island. This goes similarly to the discovery of Ethereal Island several Millennia ago.
9862 CE- The Collosingum first appears, where a few naturals decide to start hosting tournaments there, for they discovered that they have the power to manipulate their elements by singing. The starting words of each competition- “Sing till one falls!” have been kept throughout the generations.
10,000 CE- A ship called the Island Seeker sails out on a voyage, led by Captain Mako. Surprisingly, they discover a new island, where they free a mysterious creature frozen in Amber. She does not remember anything about her past or who she once was, but from legends, the monsters on the Island Seeker realized she was a Kayna. Since she had no recollection of her previous name, one of the crew members decided to name her Memory.
10,004 CE- On the horizons of the recently-named Tribal Island, a Volcano was spotted rising from the depths. Memory remembers something about her past, and decides to venture down into the caves below. She discovered her old drawings, and remembered who she truly was- Basalt. She and a few others who were still residing on the island sailed to the volcano, to find that inside, some Fire Monster species were still alive.
10,842 CE- With the knowledge that Fire Monsters are not extinct, nor legends, a group of monsters take it upon themselves to build them a new home. They begin building Fire Oasis. Cherrubles from the oceans around were invited to join in, since most of them wanted a place to go on land.
10,859 CE- Fire Oasis is officially completed. Some Kaynas and the other single-elements on the Oasis move in, and eventually some new fire monsters of previously extinct species are born from the breeding structure.
11,049 CE- This was a huge year for exploring and frontiers, for it was the year the Magical Islands were rediscovered by the general population. After speaking to the monsters who’d been living there for years about their islands’ history, it was soon found that these were once the Outer Islands from the Dawn of Fire era.
11,093-11,095 CE- The most recent war in Monster World history, the Fiddlement war, was a conflict between Light Island and Faerie Island. Likely named after the species of the one who started it, it ended in a victory for Faerie Island.
11,322 CE- The final fire island is discovered- Amber Island. With a series of mysterious rituals, Fire Monsters who had passed during the Dawn of Fire. They remembered… some things about their previous lives. A couple are revived every few years.
11,900 CE- A human named Dr. Wardin E. Spurrit shows up in the Monster World. When Spurritkind... somehow appears, the species is named after him due to the striking resemblence.
11,950 CE- Four mysterious eggs were found, which soon hatched into the Werdos. They ceased to physically age at 25 years old, and are now celebrities that hop between islands to sing.
12,000 CE- And that brings us to today fellas!
Historical figures:
Dawn (Kayna) (14,979 DOF- Unknown (Great Pause)
Dawn was the Kayna who led the Fire Monsters into the Volcano/Living Core when the Cataclysm struck. They were also the one who came up with the name "Fire Haven", and composed it's song after realising there weren't enough species around to really play the original of the Continent. They fell into the local legends of Fire Haven and their story is still told there, sometimes exegerrated.
Basalt (Kayna) (14,991 DOF- Present day)
Currently the oldest living monster, Basalt was trapped in Amber right after the Cataclyms, when she was only 9 years old. She was freed 10 thousand years later by the crew of the Island Seeker. Nobody knows how, but even when out of the Amber her aging is slowed dramantically.
Mako (Pummel) (9,959 CE- 10,030 CE)
Capitain of the Island Seeker, one of the freers of Basalt. He became the first cheif of Tribal Island when some Naturals decided to stay there permamently.
There were definatley more historical figures, but I couldn't think of any. And I'm not sure whether to include Wardin here lmao

Figured as my first post I should show off my currently existing OCs, so here’s the Dragon Ball ones. I have a lot of old OCs that I don’t use (my art isn’t great I’m sorry 🙏)
First up: Yamoshi
You might know him, he’s a canon character, but with 0 actual content besides filler explaining he’s THE legendary Super Saiyan, and a little info in BoG that implies?? I think, that he’s the original SSG but like…. no. Anyways I made him the Legendary Super Saiyan, capital L, cause it was interesting and it would fit more in line with the whole “A Super Saiyan only emerges once every 1000 years” thing which is still stupid anyways
Next up: Cassa
Technically my first truly 100% original OC. I say technically because I had a few before but they don’t matter and are rotting in the ground. The name is not 100% original though I have met like 3 other people that have used it
Next-er up: Kalot
I don’t have an image cause the only ones are old designs, but he’s got hair tied up and back, if you play Xenoverse 2 there’s a hair that’s like exactly like it, 12 for MSaiyans/Humans iirc
Even Next-er up: Kiln
He’s evil. And gay. What more could you want honestly
Finally: Genesis
She’s a bio-android Majin. Probably my most creative idea, which is kind of sad
Ok finally for realsies: Vega
Her hair is different when she gets older which j need to draw, but I haven’t yet
Bonus! Ruta/Rutarot
I don’t make anything of her (and her fusion with Goku), but she has a special place in my heart because she easily has the best art I’ve ever made be of her (note: Her SSJ4 is not godly at all, it’s just purple)
