Special Counsel Jack Smith has had it with Trump-appointed Federal Judge Aileen Cannon. Judge Cannon has been indulging every questionable whim used by Trump's lawyers in the classified documents case in order to stall it. Her decisions have been blatantly partisan; perhaps Trump promised her a seat on the US Supreme Court – not that he's famous for following through on loyalty.

Jack Smith filed a motion asking Cannon to get moving with the case – with the implied threat that he will appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit to have her overruled or even removed from the case. The 11th Circuit had already, in a unanimous decision, vacated a previous order of hers which would have delayed the proceedings.

Time To Fire The Cannon?

Putting Trump back in office would allow him to appoint more dubious judges like Aileen Cannon. Defeating Trump would not just protect democracy but would prevent the federal judiciary from becoming a corrupt Trump tool.

One thing that I keep thinking about in regards to Tactics Ogre is the presence of the vaguely humanoid reptilian guys. Like the game has straight-up dragons of varying types, but then you've also got these guys that are just. guys but reptiles. And at first I was going "okay maybe they're just supposed to be mindless monsters like the undead?" but at some point in the game Canopus gets into a fistfight with one of them when he (Canopus) interrupts some singing. So this reptile guy has clearly got the emotional wherewithal to both listen to someone sing and also to get mad when someone interrupts!

The PSP version apparently has a description for the reptiles that mentions they're a "crude race with limited intellect." But are they REALLY limited in intellect or is it just racial prejudice?? You also see them being included in various mercenary bands throughout the game, and they seem to wear human clothing and armor, which implies that at least some of them have some idea of trade and currency, and most of them have the understanding of how to dress for their own protection. For all intents and purposes there is nothing that really stands out as evidence that they're less intelligent than standard humans

incredibly mixed feelings on whether or not it's worth it to get a gun but at the very least i need to learn how to make traps that can do some damage justttttt in case things get weird

I see all of the “Astarion was a nepo baby and got his position through favoritism” takes, and while I agree, let me do you one better.

He did get his position through nepotism—logical, especially given elven age perception. And at first he didn’t take it seriously and simply enjoyed the power and status it afforded him. And then he started to figure out he was really good at politics and finessing the legal system, and that he legitimately enjoyed the law studies that skill promoted him to take on.

This inevitably leads to his contemporaries liking him even less than when he was just their spoiled child to babysit, because he’s got an instinctive mind for politics that they can’t help but admit he has and now they’re all being embarrassed by him.

Finally done diving into the Palace of the Dead looking for relics, as I now have Deneb!

I'll do the palace fully later, but I did manage (at least according to the guide I was using) to obtain all the Enchiridions. Also reached the shop so I killed my wallet by buying 5 of each spell. Probably don't need that many, but you can never be too careful.

However, this cutscene with Deneb made it all worth is. Denam I love your sass.
