This is going to get me screencapped and ridiculed by leftblr but at this point I don't care.
The way people talk about Ruth Bader Ginsburg is misogynistic. This post is not about the merits of her decision to remain in her seat. I've discussed that before and I'm happy to go through it again with anyone who is genuinely interested in the complexities of that situation, but for the sake of this post, I am not arguing that it's unreasonable to believe, with the benefit of hindsight, that the country would be a in a better position today if Ginsburg had retired in 2012. The issue I want to address is how people talk about it.
People who blame Ginsburg for the current state of the Supreme Court tend to throw around words like greedy, selfish, and ambitious, echoing a familiar form of misogyny. Ambition is only bad when women demonstrate it, and women in politics are regularly punished for ambition. Even more disturbingly, people tend to blame not just Ginsburg, but the women and girls who looked up to her. I've seen the "Notorious RBG" nickname derided as a cult of personality, when the reality is that Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a trailblazer and a role model to a lot of women and girls. I've seen leftists try to hide behind valid criticisms of some of Ginsburg's positions (and it should, but doesn't, go without saying that you can see someone as a role model without believing they are correct about every issue all the time) but you barely have to scratch the surface to see that the real complaint is that they think women who admire her are cringe. I don't know if people understand how significant she was; she was only the second woman on the Supreme Court and the first, Sandra Day O'Connor, was a conservative Reagan appointee. Even so, Justice O'Connor spoke about the significance of Justice Ginsburg joining her and reality that women faced in their position being more apparent when she could see it happening to someone else. It's the same old anti-feminist story of dismissing women and their desires.
This particular case rankles me because it's underscored by the complete silence about Anthony Kennedy. Ruth Bader Ginsburg made a judgment call about her health that didn't work out--and barely; she died four months before Trump left office. Anthony Kennedy, a supposed moderate justice who claimed to not want Roe v Wade to be overturned, retired in 2018, knowing full well Trump would replace him with someone who would overturn Roe v Wade. It was Kennedy's replacement, not Ginsburg's, that doomed Roe. The decision was 6-3. If Ginsburg had lived four more months, or retired in 2012 and been replaced with an Obama appointee, the Dobbs v Jackson decision would have been 5-4 in the same direction. Anthony Kennedy was replaced with Brett Kavanaugh, a white man who sobbed crocodile tears when confronted with credible allegations of sexual assault and ultimately faced no consequences. Anthony Kennedy let all of this happen and slunk off into his cushy retirement. Where is the anger for him? He's alive! Being angrier at Ginsburg than Kennedy makes absolutely no sense. There is no logic to explain it, only misogyny.
It doesn't escape my notice that the anger at Ginsburg goes hand-in-hand with blaming women for their own suffering as a result of the Dobbs decision and with blaming Hillary Clinton for the 2016 election, while making any excuse for not voting for her or deriding her for months. It's emblematic of a political system that does not care about women and despises women trying to speak up and make our issues known.

im so glad that we never get a clear picture of sophie’s background in leverage & i hope we never do. however i also really like making up various, often conflicting backstories for her in my head. perhaps they’re all backstories for an alias of hers, ones she laid to rest back in season two.
#leverageposting#leverage#sophie devereaux#particularly that one of or both her parents had to move around a lot for work & so she would change herself to fit in at every new school#or new town etc etc. and that whatever original identity she had was dropped due to some kind of really awful event and her bio family think#she’s dead. eg she got into some kind of extreme legal trouble for the first time & she faked her death & everyone she knew as a kid thinks#she’s dead too. like. astrid wasn’t the first person she left to miss/mourn her.#but also that she was a teen runaway at like age ~16 and pretended to be an adult (like. 18/19) cause theres not much you can do by yourself#as a minor like booking flights or renting an apartment. and so began her first proper alias. and she was a pickpocket until she could fund#her life fully through grifting & cons.#or alternatively her parents died when she was a teen & she was old enough to become an emancipated minor (everyone in lev is an orphan)#and she kind of just fell into crime from there bc she had no one#or perhaps she got married at 17 and realised how fucked it all was and stashed money until she could run away & leave it all behind. that’s#bc of a single vague sentence on john rogers’ blog saying she was married at 17 and in context it was quite possibly a joke or random#hypothetical example but i was like what if???? What If???????#i also like the hc that she’s trans which i’ve seen a few times#in some versions in my mind her parents were okay and in some versions they were awful and in some versions it was so complicated.#i think tara has heard one story and parker or hardison have heard another and nate has never heard any story. he’s never asked.#she is here now and that’s all that needs knowing. and sophie devereaux is her real name in any way it matters.#eliot has also never asked and she asked if he was curious once and he just asked if she was curious about What He Did and that was answer#enough for the both of them. just a mutual agreement not to ask and it actually solidified their bond.#i think she struggled for a long time about whether to tell her new family The Real Story but in much the same way we never hear her birth#name bc it’s not Her anymore… she never gives The Real Story. bc it no longer defines who she is. she’s so much more than whatever happened.#lvg

Au where instead of going on his 5-step overly convoluted class warfare rent-raising scheme in season 1, Daniel realizes that Johnny probably cannot legally call his dojo Cobra Kai, so he just… quietly buys the trademark and sues Johnny for infringement. This improves nothing and makes everything actively worse <3
#Johnny either gets Sid to fund his legal defense for entertainment or finds some lawyer passionate enough about copyright to do it free#Daniel nearly drains the entire LaRusso Auto bank account before Amanda gets a divorce arc#at the end of season 3 they at last come to a settlement and passionately kiss in the court room before going to murder Kreese#no I don’t know anything about copyright law it’s fine#cobra kai#kor originals#post hard post fast no mercy#daniel larusso#johnny lawrence#cobra kai au

Jazz joins the Suicide Squad to save Danny
So! Danny got caught by the GIW. And it was Public too.
Jazz can see absolutely no way to save Danny. The GIW Base is heavily fortified, she has no help aside from Tucker and Sam, and public opinion is against Ghosts, so nobody would want to help her protest his Capture. Maybe a few teenagers from the high school, but absolutely none of the adults would help.
So she does the one thing she can. She contacts Amanda Waller.
Waller had previously approached her Parents about buying some of their tech off them, for her "Specializes Task Force" to use in case they ever came up against a Ghost.
From the short interaction Jazz had with Waller, she knew one thing.
That Woman would do ANYTHING, to protect the Government she worked for.
All Jazz needed to do, was offer her something that outweighed the value of capturing Danny. Information. The Infinite Realms, the True Biology of Ghosts, the Psychology of Ghosts, the Power Structure of the Realms, and so much more. Waller needed to know everything she could about the Realms to feel secure, to feel like her Country was safe. She needed Information.
And Jazz had that in spades.
As the daughter of the Leaders on Ectology, and a friend to multiple Saptient Ghosts, including the Kings and Queens of various Realms, she was uniquely qualified to provide all this information.
And Waller was impressed. But she still felt like she needed a little more, and seeing as Jazz was a highly trained Martial Artist due to her Mom, and had been taught enough about mechanical engineering by her Dad to constitute a Major in in, she saw potential.
She saw a Pawn. Perfect for placement on Task Force X. Her Suicide Squad had been missing an extra member recently, and Jazz was the perfect fit.
So they made a Deal.
Danny Fenton, also known as The Phantom, would he released from Government Detainment, alongside any other Sentient/Sapient Ghost in their possession. They would he protected from further Detainment until further Notice, and the Town of Amity Park would be left alone by the GIW Indefinitely.
In return, Jazzmine Fenton would be hired on as Amanda Wallers On-Call Consultant for anything related to Ghosts and the Realms. Additionally, she would be employed as a Part Time Member of Task Force X, answering the call of Duty whenever is is directed as her, No Questions Asked. (Or the deal would be null and void)
But she would Endure it. Because she and Waller had one thing in common.
She would do Anything, to protect her little brother.
#Dpxdc#Dp x dc#Dcxdp#Dc x dp#Danny Phantom#Dc#Dcu#Jazz Fenton joins the Suicide Squad#Jazz joins the Suicide Squad#Unlike the others she does it completely willingly for the sake of her little brother#Waller saw an opportunity#Jazz was able to figure out how to contact her and was able to manipulate her way into extracting a deal that would protect her brother#And her Town from the GIW in a Legal Manner#All from a single 5 second long interaction they had had over a year ago#She had potential#Jazz is willing to do anything to protect her brother#(Waller also sweetened the deal by offering to fund her College Classes)#Jazz is mostly free from the Suicide Squad#But if she is called in she WILL come in#No Questions Asked

I've been in a bit of a tough spot for forever and have had to ask for help more often than I'd like. While I'm incredibly grateful for the support I've received, I also want to explore other ways to raise funds without constantly relying on direct donations.
Do any of you have ideas or suggestions for alternative fundraising methods? Whether it's offering a service, creating something to sell, or even setting up a crowdfunding campaign with specific goals, I'm open to any and all suggestions. Your input would mean a lot to me
#like a halffle where after the fundraoser I raffle out half the funds#but IDK the LEGALITY of something like that as an individual#but I have no marketable skills to make money with otherwise so thats how I'm in this position#but if I dont have money to get job training then I can't get any marketable skills#tough stuff

Thinking about Raised in Amphibia AU and how the girls get married when they're still teenagers, and I get that it might be controversial but I actually really like the fantasy vibes that comes with characters getting married so young, it helps to make the world feel more old timesey and medieval and culturally alien, like, marrying at 16 sounds insane to most people nowadays but in fantasy frog land Sprig and Maddie were engaged by their guardians at age 10 so I think it not only makes perfect sense for Marcy and Sasha to get engaged for political reasons at 14 and then get married at 16 - dragging Anne along with them - but also... something something kids forced to grow up to fast, something something fantasy politics, and these three characters having such a different way of seeing love and relationships than we do in the real world, that when Anne goes back to Earth and meets her biological parents for the first time, she has no idea how to tell them that, at age 23, she's been married for 7 years and has two wives.
#amphibia#sashannarcy#raised in amphibia au#marcy wu#anne boonchuy#sasha waybright#my posts#also: the LEGITIMACY of it! the POWER the SECURITY that comes from being legally recognized! the institutional protection!#which adds to the fantasy vibe of teenagers having so much power and independance#but that's because their world is so different from ours that Marcy gets to rule a kingdom and Sasha gets to fund one as children#Anne later on meeting Sasha's dad (her mom and Marcy's parents are GONE and no longer keep in contact with the Boonchuys) and he asks if#she has any picture of her. and Anne nervously shows him the small little royal portrait she carries eveywhere#of Queen Marcy with her two royal consorts#he observes the little portrait of her daughter and Anne doesn't know how to tell them she's married to her

There's a universe where the young justice tv show begins with Superman being very upset to find out Cadmus somehow owns the copyright to his own name and setting off to deal with that as Clark Kent. Everyone else is like "uh hey man so don't freak out about the teenage clone they made of you" but that's not even in his top ten worries. He's Superman. Krypton had a whole cloning age. Bizzaro's running around somewhere. Honestly the weird thing is not that there's a teen clone of him now, it's the fact that there wasn't one earlier. Now what is weird is hOW DID CADMUS GET COPYRIGHT OVER HIS OWN NAME
#you'd think I'm joking but I'm not the copyright thing was a legit concern after 90s superboy's introduction#along with Clark being legally dead and homeless but yjtv Clark doesn't have those problems#so he can just focus on writing an expose on how a random lab has attempted to copyright the name and house of a family from an alien plane#in order to fund the cloning and experimentation and enslavement of several hundred beings
