The celebrations have been quite nonstop ever since the Zora returned from the grasp of Ruta. For a century, she called her Divine Beast her home, her sanctuary, her prison, her hell- 

And now that she has returned, there’s a longing to go back. Is it a longing, or is it that she knew nothing else? Zora lifespans, while rather long in comparison to their Hylian counterparts, did not grant Mipha the benefit of living her life ON THE OUTSIDE OF CALAMITY GANON’S GRASP. Her acquaintance with the beast lasted much longer than her life outside of Ruta. Longer than her childhood, longer than the time spent with her own long-passed mother-

So she has been avoiding the reservoir. Each time it is suggested that the warriors take a gander, Mipha objects to the elder council && her own father. She knew what was there, and it is now long gone. No one needed to be there unless it was her.

She is tethered, and there is nothing she can do.

Overprotectiveness, a large amount of disgust, and a desire to return and never come back. It’s a vicious cycle of rather ambiguous feelings best left in her dreams and journals. No one quite understood what the Zora Champion was speaking about, not from a lack of effort either. Her father tried to soothe her worries, and Sidon promised her to the Heavens, and back she would never return to that place.

And so, she stays within the Halls of the Domain, waiting for word from the castle. Instead, her allies come to her && it is the best gift in the world.

For the first time in a long time, she is able to say that she feels safe.

The Zora quietly slipped away throughout the knight’s recalling of the final battle. As she brushed shoulders with her fellow Zora, she couldn’t help but notice how different his face seemed now, dramatically enhancing the story for the hatchlings. (As if he were reborn anew where the weight of his destiny fell to the wayside.)

She had not been rather discreet in her shadowing of the Hylian Princess; rather, wanting this moment alone to be noticed. When she is finally greeted, her chest tightens. So many questions, so much to say. Even when Zelda allows her the chance, her words are caught in her throat. No, she has to ask this-

“Do you feel it anymore?” she breathes, “Calamity Ganon, is he... can you say for certain he is gone?”

Idk if you’ve been asked this before, but what are your thoughts on the Gaunt family? Do you think they interbred a little too close (like siblings together, aunts, and uncles to nieces and nephews) because they seemed to be the only Pureblooded family (that I can remember) that is canonically unattractive and inbred-looking? And when you look up the Gaunt family, it says, “Due to their habit of marrying their own cousins,” but like all Pureblood families have done that/do that, so why are they attractive and “normal" looking (or, were they even? I can’t remember). Why were the Gaunt’s different? Did it just happen to run in their genes specifically because I remember Marvolo Gaunt being described as looking like an “aged monkey” and then his ancestor(?), Salazar Slytherin, being described as also looking "monkeyish"?

I definitely think they inbred too close to the sun. And actually, we don't see many other pureblood families that are that closely related. Even the Black family, the "always pure", aren't super inbred. In the (more or less) canon family tree that has 7 generations back, the only in-family marriage is between Orion and Walburga Black (Sirius' parents) and they are second cousins who had no inbreeding in their bloodline at least 4 generations back.

I actually did some research about inbreeding and when it starts to become an actual risk to the offspring. From what I've read, even marrying first cousins wouldn't be that bad as long as it's not every generation. To calculate an inbreeding coefficient (basically how inbred someone is) you calculate according to how close the relatives were and then multiply it with every generation the inbreeding continues. The thing about inbreeding is that the moment you introduce new blood, the coefficient goes down to zero and you start the counter again. So as long as pureblood families keep the familial distance to, at least, second cousins and make sure to keep a breath of two generations between these marriages they could get away with looking pretty normal and not harming their genes too much. Like, there are no major health risks, even though their breeding pool is still relatively small and too similar which puts them at a general health risk, and squib risk, but that isn't exactly an inbreeding issue, more a lack of genetic diversity in a small closed-off community issue (I talked about this here).

But the Gaunts are a different story. As you mentioned, the Gaunts are described as ugly:

The man standing before them had thick hair so matted with dirt it could have been any color. Several of his teeth were missing. His eyes were small and dark and stared in opposite directions

An elderly man had come hurrying out of the cottage, banging the door behind him so that the dead snake swung pathetically. This man was shorter than the first, and oddly proportioned; his shoulders were very broad and his arms overlong, which, with his bright brown eyes, short scrubby hair, and wrinkled face, gave him the look of a powerful, aged monkey.

-Marvolo Gaunt (HBP, 202)

a girl whose ragged gray dress was the exact color of the dirty stone wall behind her. She was standing beside a steaming pot on a grimy black stove, and was fiddling around with the shelf of squalid-looking pots and pans above it. Her hair was lank and dull and she had a plain, pale, rather heavy face. Her eyes, like her brother’s, stared in opposite directions. She looked a little cleaner than the two men, but Harry thought he had never seen a more defeated-looking person.

-Merope Gaunt (HBP, 204)

Magically very weak:

as Merope, who had already picked up the pot, flushed blotchily scarlet, lost her grip on the pot again, drew her wand shakily from her pocket, pointed it at the pot, and muttered a hasty, inaudible spell that caused the pot to shoot across the floor away from her, hit the opposite wall, and crack in two.

And if we count Hogwarts Legacy, Ominis Gaunt was born blind, something that can be caused by inbreeding. I mentioned their magical weakness is also most likely the result of a lack of genetic diversity, something we actually see with two other wizards:

Crabbe and Goyle.

Both are also described as ugly, stupid, and magically weak. And, of course, pure blood. Basically, I think these two families have an inbreeding problem between cousins as well...

In general, not all Gaunts are as ugly as they are described. Isolt Sayre, who founded Illvermony and whose mother was a Gaunt is implied to look normal. So do her mother, Rionach Sayre (born Gaunt), and aunt Gormlaith Gaunt, who is a pure-blood maniac (and a general maniac) but isn't described as ugly in any way. Ominis Gaunt also looks completely normal in Hogwarts Legacy (though I'm not sure how canon I consider the game). This makes me think the inbreeding of the Gaunts is relatively recent. The fact that both Morfin and Merope are described with eyes looking in different directions but Marvolo doesn't again, suggests that Marvolo might have married a bit too close, even for pure-bloods.

I also checked the description of Salazar Slytherin:

It was ancient and monkeyish, with a long, thin beard that fell almost to the bottom of the wizard’s sweeping stone robes, where two enormous gray feet stood on the smooth Chamber floor.

Which is quite similar to Marvolo's description. So, in the case of Marvolo's ugliness, it's likely just the genes he got that were intensified by some level of inbreeding, but not anything worse than Crabbe and Goyle; as in marriage between cousins too often in the last 4 generations, but not something closer or something that has always been the case (probably not considering they aren't all infertile squibs). It's why he is somewhat more reasonable, stable, and magically capable than his kids.

Basically, I think Marvolo had his kids with another Gaunt that was too close to him genetically, be it a sister or first cousin who happened to share both sets of grandparents and great-grandparents with Marvolo. Something like that would definitely cause a quick decline. I'm leaning towards sister.

If we take Hogwarts Legacy as canon, the Gaunts, in 1890 are still a respectable enough family to be associated with the Blacks (as Ominis mentions his father is closely acquainted with Phineas Nigellus Black). But by 1926, the Gaunts are living in a hovel, dressed in dirty rags and the Blacks would likely be offended by the notion of knowing them. Marvolo acts like he remembers how important they once were and raves about it, but Merope and Morfin don't seem to know a life other than the one they are living.

So, my headcanon is that they were inbred more than the Blacks by the time Marvolo was born. They married cousins every generation in the past 4 generations, unlike the Blacks who made sure to marry other pure-blood families as I mentioned above. The Gaunts, like the Blacks, probably married other pure-blood families until the last few generations, like with Rionach Sayre I mentioned. But by Marvolo, their genetic diversity was shit as is. Then Marvolo was the one who married too close even by pure-blood standards. I think he "married" (quotation marks because I don't think it's legal in the Wizarding World) his sister and had his two very inbred kids with her. I think this, for pure-blood society was too much and caused the Gaunts to be pushed into the fringes the way we see them. I mean, Marvolo raves as if he can remember the times his family mattered:

“Summons! Summons? Who do you think you are, summoning my son anywhere?” “I’m Head of the Magical Law Enforcement Squad,” said Ogden. “And you think we’re scum, do you?” screamed Gaunt, advancing on Ogden now, with a dirty yellow-nailed finger pointing at his chest. “Scum who’ll come running when the Ministry tells ’em to? Do you know who you’re talking to, you filthy little Mudblood, do you? [...] “So!” said Gaunt triumphantly, as though he had just proved a complicated point beyond all possible dispute. “Don’t you go talking to us as if we’re dirt on your shoes! Generations of purebloods, wizards all — more than you can say, I don’t doubt!”

He expects to be treated with the respect he likely wouldn't have received if the Gaunts were already in their hovel when Marvolo was growing up.

My beloved emotional support dog, Auggie, passed away very suddenly on 09/10/2024 at eight years old.

My grief is immeasurable. Auggie can never be replaced, but he had a job that now needs filling, and waitlists for hypoallergenic, ESA trainable puppies from ethical breeders can be long if opportunities are not taken as soon as they are available. I have picked out a breeder and placed a down payment for a new puppy that will be trained to help me with my support needs. They will be born in October, and home by Christmas. However, I could use a little extra help. I can cover most of the expenses myself, but this will give me a bit of a cushion to make the first few months easier.

Some Notes:

The only new SMP this month is New Life SMP!

Fics are primarily in English, but now we have three exceptions with significant Spanish fics: Karmaland, Tortilla SMP, and QSMP. QSMP also includes fics in Brazilian Portugese and a (very few) in French.

A couple of the smaller fandoms saw fic decreases, and 100 Hours Hardcore saw a 1-fic decrease for the third month in a row.

For smaller fandoms, both SMPEarth and Outsiders SMP tied for growth, both showing increases of 14 fics. Those are both original canonized tags for MCYT, so we also have one year of stats. Notably, that 14-fic increase breaks SMPEarth's monthly average of 9 fics per month, but doesn't beat Outsider's month-over-month average of 16 fics per month.

For mid-sized fandoms, the stand out is once again our friend Fable SMP, which has a consistent month over month growth pattern, showing a growth of 33 fics this month. Fable is one of the original canonized tags however, so we know that this month doesn't reach the heights of some of the previous months this past year, as the yearly average is 42 per month— by they did break last month's record of 32!

Lifesteal broke the 1k mark and I now officially consider them one of the bigger fandoms! Let's go Lifesteal!

In the larger fandoms, QSMP’s increase of 628 fics did not reach last month’s 692 or the previous month’s 816, but still beat out Empires (218 fics), Hermitcraft (501 fics), and 3rd Life (364 fics). The only one that beat it was Dream SMP, with an increase of 1,376. Dream SMP also broke last month’s increase of 1,357, but did not reach their month-over-month average of 2,446.

Of the canonized tags last year, Dream SMP has shown several months of not reaching their monthly average, Hermitcraft’s 501 this month did not beat their monthly average of 593, Empires 218 this month did not reach their monthly average of 296, Lifesteal's 58 this month did not beat their monthly average of 76, but the one standout is 3rd life, whose 364 this month DID indeed beat their monthly average increase of 359.

Watanuki being born into a world as the heir to a bloodline where he technically didn’t exist, but at the same time he exists now, and he’s always been the heir as long as he’s existed. 

And he doesn’t even know! He doesn’t even know who his family is or who Lava Lamp is to him or that they care for him so deeply! He doesn’t know where he came from or why he exists and for a while he was scared that he didn’t actually exist at all, just a dream destined to fade away. 

And he almost was, but now he’s so much more than that, and it’s the love of everyone around him that keeps him firmly planted in reality. 

I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT WATANUKI OK.

Here are some interesting observations I have made regarding both Fnaf and Danganronpa that relate to each other. It may just be confirmation bias, but its still fun to point these out:

Killer robot bears

In DR 1 monokuma says "you look like you've seen a ghost. A robot bear... ghost?" Which is something that fnaf revolves around. And I don't just mean robot bears possessed by ghosts, we have ghosts that take the form of robot bears too. Specifically this happens during the scene when Monokuma explains to Makoto that his bathroom door doesn't fit the frame.

Both use the same stock clock chime sound effect, which is iconic to players of both games.

Both have an in joke in the community regarding butter because of an iconic, absurd moment involving the substance (Exotic Butters, and Mondo butter)

Both have a lot of dark humor, bizzare moments, fourth wall breaking, odd spin offs, weird anime moments, and tones that can range from light and goofy to dark and depressing. As a result of this clash in tone, both have become incredibly bizzare.

Both have crazy sci-fi elements that come out of nowhere.

The main two animals in both are a bear and a rabbit, in that order of significance.

One April fools day, r/fnaf and r/danganronpa collabed, with each temporarily becoming a sub dedicated to the other. Some people still have flairs from the other series on those subreddits.

As r/deathbattlematchups can attest, there are a lot of odd similarities between William Afton and Junko Enoshima, enough that the entire community there became split about the match up, and it has become an iconic match up there "a legacy battle" even, just like Mario vs sonic or goku vs superman. A short version of these connections will (maybe) be listed in a separate post. And yes the match up was supposedly acknowledged by the people behind death battle as "something they will consider". They are definitely aware of the match up.

Both had sequels that made their own series exist in universe.

Both have fanbases that are generally regarded negatively. Though as a fan of both, I do not necessarily agree or disagree with this assessment.

Both came out in the first half of the 2010's

Both have a well known Tumblr Sexyman (William Afton and Nagito Komaeda), enough so to both appear on the infamous Tumblr Sexyman poll. Afton only made it through the first round (though his opponent was Spamton and this was in 2022) and Nagito only made it to the second round. Both series also have a secondary Tumblr Sexyman in Michael Afton and Kokichi Ouma. Neither of which were on the poll but are still highly noteworthy, and both purple (Michael has purple skin, Kokichi has purple hair and eyes)

Each has a bazillion variants to their respective robot bears.

Both feature security cameras in almost every room as well as featuring monitors.

Simulated realities and artificial humans are common plot points.

Both have characters with a split personality where one side is homicidal and insane.

Toy bears with a video feed inside, that can be spoken through remotely by the primary villain who does so from a secret room within the main facility. Where have I heard that one before?

Faz-Coins (or Faz-Tokens, its gone by both names) and Mono-Coins. Both are even gold coins hidden around the environment with the mascots face emblazoned on them.

Funtime Freddy and Monokuma are both two colored (one of the colors is white, and in the fourth closet funtime Freddy is black and white just like Monokuma) killer robot bears who are super high tech and have higher pitched voices. Monokuma has an over the top and deranged sense of humor and in one of the books we see the same as true in a version of Funtime Freddy.

Both Spike Chunsoft and Steel Wool Studios are both really only known for each respective title.

Both have a thing where in their communities, fan made games often with the same or better quality to the original product are commonplace.

Danganronpa hit an all time high on Google trends in 2021 in the U.S and around the same time Fnaf was the highest it had been since 2017 during its long and steep decline from its initial explosion in 2014. These events can be attributed to new releases made by both in 2021. With ultimate summer camp S being released in November, but getting its world wide release in December, and Fnaf Security breach also in December. In their home countries each also had a massive spike relative to their own position in 2023, with DR in January and Fnaf in October.

The fnaf movie plays out more like a detective thriller than horror movie, and Danganronpa is a series of murder mysteries. The initial trilogy of fnaf novels and the first Danganronpa light novel both also have this, and feature female protagonists who have a lot to do with what's going in, but aren't aware of it, have memory issues, and turn out to not be who they believe themselves to be.

Danganronpa has a tendency to take away characters memories, and Fnaf has a tendency to give characters looks into other people's memories or let memories linger in objects or places.

In both series, Agony and Despair respectively are both forces that can affect the mind, and spread like an infection. Its a bit more literally tangible in FNaF but DR focuses on it more so it balances out. This is the basis for one of the many aforementioned Afton and Enoshima connections: both are obsessed with the respective substance and its effects and view it as the strongest emotion (the fourth closet shows that Agony is the source of Aftons immortality, and other sources also support that most remnant that powers animatronics and haunted objects is very specifically Agony based. They are not completely separate.)

Back to back (or at least, with nothing in between the two on their community page), popular YouTube channel Dead Meat announced they were doing a Danganronpa kill count, then they streamed the first fnaf game, likely in preparation for the movie. I even made a post about it back on obsessedwithecho, which I reposted here.

There are at least two, very high quality rap battles on YouTube that are "Monokuma vs Freddy Fazbear". Its rare to see two of the same match up unless the two characters often get compared. But they don't. And yet there's still two of them.

One of the most popular fnaf fan game series "Dayshift at Freddys" is a visual novel, just like Danganronpa is. (There's also a lot of other, older fnaf visual novel fangames, but those aren't as popular and were mostly dating sims and stuff)

In both series deaths that are highly bizzare, brutal, or both, are highly common. Here's a mixed list of examples from both, all from official materials, though excluding fnaf fanverse stuff. Unless you know at least one of these series well enough, it might be hard to distinguish which comes from which. Having your innards scooped out, turning into butter, turning into a kids at play sign, turning into a candy statue, being spahettified by a black hole and woven into undergarments, being crushed to death in a mascot costume while drowning in your own blood and being impaled from all angles, pummeled to death by rapid fire baseballs at machine gun levels of speed, burning alive, being hit by a truck, being burned alive then hit by a truck, stabbed to death with scissors and crucified, male pregnancy, being seasoned and then dipped in a volcano, being converted into a mass of genetically modified sea-monkeys, cancer, suicide by poison, being crushed to death underneath the floor of a ticket jumping machine, killed in the crossfire of a fight between two giant robot mascots, crushed by a trash compactor, round trip from earth to space, suicide by robot made solely to assist in said suicide, death by sharks, face eaten by a cupcake, brainwashed by a digital consciousness, stabbed from under a floorboard, face cut off by a guillotine paper slicer, forced to wear a mask with running buszzsaws inside,

There is a reference to the dish known as "eggs benedict" in both games. Though in one its a memorable joke and on the other its a throwaway remark. Here's the DR2 transcript for proof:

Both have a bunch of comparisons to the Saw franchise as well, but not as overly specific and bizzare as these examples.

Election Night 2024: Donald Trump has managed to get his trial dates pushed back to after the 2024 election, unfortunately the conditions of his arraignments made traditional campaigning rather difficult. Instead his son Don Jr. has taken the lead as the primary campaign surrogate, but on election night it all falls apart. Simply put: overturning Roe and coming after queerfolk and transfolk was more than enough to turn most of the country against the Republicans, while a near full employment economy and the defeat of Russia has endeared Joe Biden as America's happy warrior. On election night, facing a trial he's sure to lose in Fulton County, GA in January Trump suffers a stroke and falls into a coma, effectively leaving Don Jr. as his successor in the MAGA movement.

Summers v. Idaho: A case over Idaho's abortion travel ban makes its way to the Supreme Court in 2024. The plaintiff, a 15 year old Idaho resident who traveled to Oregon to get an abortion. The argument: that the interpretation of the Privileges and Immunities Clause as laid down in the 1823 ruling in Corfield v. Coryell has long since established that the Free Movement between the states shall not be infringed. The ruling: in a 5-4 decision the supreme court overturns 202 years of precedent and declares that the states are free to restrict women from seeking an abortion, or any other service they find objectionable, in any other state. This effectively makes people seeking bodily autonomy prisoners in their home states. Before the court can rule, the newly Democrat controlled House and Senate rams through an extension to the ERA's deadline, in an attempt at legitimizing the Amendment's ratification. The court strikes down that power as well, and the ERA becomes the only amendment in history to be nullified by the Supreme Court. California Senator Katie Porter immediately begins drafting a new Bodily Autonomy Amendment which she introduces every year until it finally clears the Senate in 2028.

Red State Military Buildup: State Defense Forces get a surge in funding after the 2024 election. Partly in response to peaceful and violent demonstrations by activists, these measures see the expansion or reactivation of state-defense forces in the Red States. These forces are loyal primarily to their governors, and some states go so far as to pass measures giving them control of their National Guard Units, although the legality of this is hotly debated. Red States pay for this with higher property taxes and by cutting services. In some states, the officer corps is made up of retired members of the regular Army, former cops, and in some cases mercenary soldiers. Idaho gains infamy when its revealed that they've been hiring ex-Wagner Group soldiers to serve as advisors to train their State Defense Force.

Joe Biden Passes Away: At 83 years old, Joe Biden dies peacefully in his sleep. Kamala Harris is sworn in as the 47th President while many around the world mourn the last great liberal. Joe Biden, the man who rallied NATO to support Ukraine's war against Russia, and functionally the destruction of the Russian Federation itself. His legacy falls to Kamala Harris... and she is entirely unfit for the task. Most see her first national address as perfunctory, and her response to the rise of State Defense Forces, police brutality, and the nuclear non-proliferation operations in the former Russian Federation isn't actually all that different from Joe Biden's, its just that people were already losing patience with that set of policies and Harris is just not a very good speaker.

Trump 2028: Donald Trump Jr. announces his candidacy for President in late 2026. He is flanked not just by flags, but by armed security that absolutely nobody mistakes as anything less than a Trumpian SA. His campaign is a Dark MAGA nightmare, and he is supported almost without question by Republican governors. He frequently speaks directly to Red State Defense Forces and through is rambling, cocaine fueled speeches he uses his platform to call for violence if he's not given the nomination and the Presidency. The campaign also sees the MAGA movement transition into a pseudoreligious movement, with images of Donald Trump Sr. shown as objects of worship, and Don Jr. promising that his election will lead to his father's return as the True Leader of America. He is opposed only by Liz Cheney, who is constantly dodging hecklers, rotten fruit and vegetables, and on more than one occasion actual threats to her life by Magats. The primary is a farce, with Trump winning by Assad margins in a few states and the nomination with a clean sweep of the country. Cheney bows out and does not attend the convention, instead throwing her support to Mitt Romney in his effort to revive the National Union Party with former Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema. Romney's campaign is really a lifeboat for Business and national security conservatives pretending to be a home for the American center, and it is by far the most well funded campaign in the country.

Democratic Primary: Kamala Harris is not a bad President, but she's also not a very popular one. She announces her campaign almost with the expectation that doing so will scare off potential challengers, when in fact it does the opposite. By Fall 2027 there are 13 Democratic candidates in the race. The Press sees this as mainly a fight between California Governor Gavin Newsom and President Harris, but former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg surprises everyone by winning the Iowa Caucuses in a narrow plurality, and quickly swells to the number 1 slot in the polls. Harris goes all in on New Hampshire and South Carolina hoping to knock out most of the other candidates and giving her campaign the momentum to sweep the South and eventually Super Tuesday as Biden did in 2020. While she does win New Hampshire, the press is stunned to see AOC win a strong 2nd place. The same thing happens again in South Carolina, and in California Harris isn't even in the Top 3. On Super Tuesday, The top contenders are AOC, Buttigieg, and Newsom. Newsom simply doesn't have much appeal outside of the West Coast, Buttigieg dominates in the Great Plains, but AOC is able to appeal to a far larger coalition of voters than any single candidate, especially after a series of stunning debate performances. The race ultimately comes down to the wire, with AOC winning the last few delegates she needs in Washington State and Democrats Abroad to just barely secure the nomination, but with only 36.2% of the popular vote. AOC offers Buttigieg the VP slot almost immediately, and while its something of a shotgun wedding, it gives the Democratic nominees a mandate.

Campaign 2028: With the conventions done, the country braces for the most contentious election in living memory. Don Jr. is running almost as if he expects to lose the House and Senate. His MAGA security officers and armed supporters frequently clash with cops and national guard units in major cities and he frames his campaign as a true clash of civilizations. Mitt Romney briefly looks like he might actually win the election by a plurality of the vote, until the first debate in which he steps into a trap laid by AOC. She reveals that Romney's economic and social policies are almost identical to those put forward by Trump. The "gotcha" is powerful, but even more so is the string of memes online and across the press comparing it to Obama's "Please Proceed Governor" in 2012. Its made all the worse by Sinema giving an absolutely petulant response post-debate. The Romney campaign never recovers. Trump and AOC never actually face each other in a debate, this isn't a huge surprise as the GOP pulled out of the Commission on Presidential Debates in 2022 and Trump Sr. spent the 2024 campaign just talking on a stage to a sycophantic FOX moderator. There's also not much point of a debate, as AOC and Trump just repeat their opponents comments verbatim knowing that's all the attack ads they'll ever need. On Election Day, 20 states have outright banned mail-in voting, AOC has been removed from the ballot in Idaho, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, and West Virginia, and Texas actually deploys its State Guard to shut down the one polling location in Harris County when it begins to look like AOC might win the state by a plurality. Mail-in-ballots from the other 30 states take a week to be counted, but Ohio, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia all vote to decertify the results in Democrat heavy counties or direct their states' Electors to cast their votes for Trump. It really doesn't make much of a difference, as AOC has a clear majority in the Electoral college. Ironically, the post-election map doesn't look that different from the one in 2020, save for 8 electoral votes from Utah, Nebraska, and Maine going to Romney.

Post-Election Chaos: With all the votes tallied, this Election has the highest turnout in over a century, but AOC, the victor has only 41.4% of the vote. The media's immediate concern is another attempt by Republicans in Congress to decertify the Election Results as they attempted in 2020 and 2024. But Republicans aren't waiting. Before the Electoral College even convenes Texas becomes the first state who's legislature votes to recognize Trump as the victor and their President. Florida and West Virginia follow not long after and Trump announces plans to hold an Inauguration/Constitutional Convention in Mar-a-Lago with members of the House and Senate Republican leadership and numerous Republican governors in attendance. By the time the EC votes, 16 state legislatures have simply voted to ignore the results and name Trump their President with 13 more states preparing to hold similar votes. By January 1, 2029, 22 states have voted to recognize Donald Trump Jr. as the legitimately elected President and not AOC. The stage is set for another civil war.

COACHING MEMORY : japanese training at avex DATE : july 202 COUNT : 604 words

this was his first time this far away, alone. throughout his childhood he had tagged along with his parents on business trips all around the world--he was lucky that way. but he never really had to pay much attention. he was there for the vibes, take some cute photos, and make memories. now he was expected to actually learn a thing or too. but that wasn't how he was treating it.

he had been training for somewhere around six months, finally focusing on something that wasn't songwriting (something he had incredibly low interest in for someone that wanted to make music--it was complicated) and in japan--tokyo, no less--for the first time as an adult. it was hard to focus on the training schedule they were given when there was so much to explore.

right off the bat, he went out exploring the moment he was free from training. he met a couple locals (who thankfully knew korean) that showed him around some stores and hot spots. on his second night in japan, he was out far later than he should have been, exploring. he was able to make it home without (from what he could tell) raising suspicions from the staff members tasked with watching him.

hyun was exhausted the next day in their mandatory japanese workshops. his eyes were drooping as the coach went over pronunciation, the rest of the class repeating the words in unison, while hyun was in the back of the class, hand holding his chin up and mouth agape. he didn't realize he had fallen asleep until the coach slammed a heavy hand onto the front of hyun's desk, waking up with a jolt. the coach asked him a question in japanese that hyun understood none of, to which he very obviously made up a response to. the coach asked him to stay after class, cutting into his lunch time.

"what do you think this is for?" the coach asked, a stern look on his face. "why do you think we spent the time and money to fly you to japan, partner with a prominent overseas company, and hire coaches to work with you?" he thought the question was rhetorical, so he stayed silent, his head falling down in shame. "ya!" hyun shot up when the coach yelled, getting angrier by the second, "are you paying attention? i asked you a question."

hyun gulped, trying to form his words thoughtful and precisely. "to enrich our training and broaden our skills" he mumbled, which was not correct, the coach sternly asking him to speak up. he repeated himself, louder with his voice and more confident.

"so why am i hearing from the other staff members that you are missing curfew? why can't you focus in this class? do you think this is a vacation?" hyun shook his head, replying solemnly and quietly no. the coach gave him a look and he repeated himself, louder. "then stop treating it like one or you will be on the express train back to seoul--and i don't know if you'll have a bed at legacy when you get back. this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, stop wasting it." hyun nodded, waiting to be dismissed.

after a couple minutes sulking close the cafeteria (not going in for fear of being the talk of the other trainees), he checked his phone, seeing a text from one of his new japanese friends. they were goading him to skip out on training, join them at an arcade. hyun didn't respond, muting the conversation, and opened his japanese textbook for the first time since he had arrived.
