Seungyoun’s drive back to the hotel was short but pensive. And by the time he had pulled up in the long, wide driveway of the extensive building, he’d come to the conclusion that he was wrong. Wrong to overlook your case. Your supposedly annoying, loud personality didn’t trigger him to rule out any possibilities yet. He had seen enough betrayals to know the art of deceiving, and he knew something was wrong with you. There was a fracture somewhere in your façade. Seungyoun just had to figure out where it was exactly.
Sighing, he got out of his car, handing the keys to the valet. He straightened his coat on his way inside the colossal hotel lobby, stopping momentarily to cringe at the assortment of seasonal flowers in the vases on the coffee tables.
“Sol, please send Wooseok to my office as soon as you see him.”
Seungyoun didn’t look at the receptionist as he said that, instead he kept moving and took the longer route towards his office. He passed by the hotel’s café, his eyes sharp. There seemed to be no problem around here. Even with most of the hotel’s guests being powerful crime lords.
Seungyoun’s shoulders relaxed but then hunched up again when he passed by the restaurant of the hotel. In its bright red lights, the restaurant stood out, separated from the rest of the hotel by a long, vertical koi pond. A small, wide bridge over the pond was the only way to cross over to the restaurant. The relatively easy entrance was a hassle for drunk customers, however. It was a usual occurrence for him to see a drenched person cursing his way out of the hotel.
Seungyoun had been thinking extensively to shut down the pond once and for all. But Wooseok, Seungyoun’s precious second in command, had persuaded him not to. At some point Seungyoun himself contradicted his decision. He had grown fond of the fish.
He was about to cross over the small Bridge and take a look at the fish, but then he saw Dongpyo coming out through the restaurant’s door. Seungyoun made a swift turn away from, hoping he didn’t notice him. Dongpyo was the one person he didn’t want to see today.
“Seungyoun! Wait up.”
For fuck’s sake. Seungyoun turned around, face stern.
“God, you’re a really difficult man to find.”
Dongpyo walked until he stood before Seungyoun. He dug into his pocket and held out his phone.
“That dumbass President Lee has been calling me all day. Turns out the guys you beat up and kicked out the other day were his men.”
Seungyoun’s eyebrows furrowed. “And?”
Dongpyo took Seungyoun’s hand and placed his phone in it.
“And, he keeps calling me saying how we could do this to his men. Apparently, what you did made him lose face.”
As if on cue, the phone rang.
“Ahhh, see he’s calling again! This guy is nuts. Pick it up and take care of it.”
President Lee’s men were Dongpyo’s to handle but Seungyoun had done him a favor when he handled them instead. And yet, it was starting to backfire on him somehow.
Seungyoun slid the green icon on the phone, putting the phone to his ears. His heartbeat lurched for an ephemeral moment, and then it was stable as ever.
“Hello, this is Cho Seungyoun.”
The guy on the other end, President Lee Jinhyuk, spoke but Seungyoun wasn’t listening. Just because he happened to join hands with President Choi didn’t mean he changed his status. He was still a lowly thug for Seungyoun.
Anger clouded his mind when he cut Jinhyuk off and said, “If you have something to say, come to the hotel and say it to me. I’m hanging up.”
Dongpyo’s eyes widened in surprise when Seungyoun hung up the phone and shoved it in his hands.
“I took care of it.” Seungyoun said and took off.
Dongpyo recovered from his shock and managed to grab him by the shoulder. “Ya! Are you crazy? You just made it worse.“
Seungyoun pushed away his hand, straightening his coat.
“Then maybe you should have taken care of it yourself.”
Seungyoun stormed off, letting himself breathe fully only when he reached his office. He slumped down on his chair, closing his eyes while cursing Dongpyo. He totally fit the name Seungyoun had given him. A devil. A total, fucking devil. That too at such a young age, he could only imagine what he’d do as he got older.
A knock on the door stole Seungyoun’s attention. A voice called out from the other side of the door.
“It’s Wooseok!”
Finally.
“Come in. The door’s open.”
Wooseok moved in with agility, barely making any noise as he sat on the seat across Seungyoun’s desk. “Looks like someone’s having a rough day.”
Seungyoun opened one eye to look at him. “Is it that obvious?”
The other boy merely shrugged. “Is it about the thing with President Lee?”
Seungyoun groaned. “Why do you guys keep saying his name like he’s a fucking god?! He’s nothing but a stupid thug and he’s the least of my concern.”
Wooseok looked at Seungyoun, concern lining his gaze.
“I don’t know Seungyoun, but he looks pretty damn powerful to me. Especially after joining hands with President Choi. It might sound profane, but they might as well be on the same level as our President Han.”
Seungyoun scoffed. “Powerful my ass. Look how he got so butthurt over me throwing out his men the other day.” He turned in his seat, “I’ve seen enough powerful men to know he’s not one of them.”
Wooseok’s gaze never wavered, he seemed bent on something. Like something was stuck at the tip of his tongue and he just couldn’t say it.
“Don’t be so sure about it now, Seungyoun…Things are not always as you see them.”
Seungyoun stood up, “And when I want a sermon on that, I know who to call.” He smiled sarcastically at Wooseok, stretching his back before walking out.
“Oh and by the way, please change the flowers on the vases in the lobby, they look hideous.”
Wooseok turned to Seungyoun who stood at the door now. “Is that why you called me here?”
“Partially, yes.”
Wooseok looked on, expectant. “What else is there?”
“There’s this girl.”
The morning with you came rushing back to Seungyoun’s mind. Your voice, your face, your bizarrely green clothes and even your rather rude brother, Dohyon. In the morning, Seungyoun thought you were annoying, but now, he was looking forward to you, mainly as a way to dodge Dongpyo and the fucked up situation around President Lee but looking forward nonetheless.
“Come walk with me, I’ll tell you all about it.”

Day 1
2:37 pm
“Mr. Seungyoun!! Hey! This is Y/n here! You weren’t picking up so I decided to leave a voicemail. Seungwoo called me asking how things were going with you and I kind of lied to him that things were great-”
Seungyoun was dreaming. It was a good dream. Something with a large field of buckwheat flowers and a voice. A strangely beautiful voice.
“-and that you are a great bodyguard even though you haven’t officially started being my bodyguard yet. So when you hear this, please call me back so we can officially start your little job and I won’t have to lie again?”
He smiled through the dream, wishing for the voice to never stop talking.
“Because I happen to be a bad liar,” the voice laughed.
Seungyoun’s eyes shot up. Sunlight filtered through the apartment windows, loitering around his face. The room was well lit by the sun, thus, he easily found his phone buried somewhere beneath his bed sheets.
Once your voice faded away, he immediately called back. A quick glance at the clock showed it was 2 in the afternoon.
“Fuck.” He swore to himself.
When you picked up he said, “I’m sorry you called and I didn’t pick up, I-” Seungyoun scrambled for an excuse.
“No, it’s alright! I just called because I was going out and needed you to help out for a little while.”
“Of course, what time are you heading out?”
On the other end of the line, you looked at the wall clock in your living room. “Umm, somewhere around three thirty?”
“Alright, give me half an hour and I’ll be there.”
Seungyoun hung up, groaned, made a mess of the sheets in frustration and then finally headed for a shower.
You hung up, sighed, threw glare at Dohyon and then finally waited for the answers you’d been dying to get since yesterday.
*********************
7:31 pm
Seungyoun had reached your place sharp at 3:20.
Upon his arrival you’d asked if Dohyon could tag along until the end of the block, where you would have to drop him off at some friend’s house. Seungyoun being a nice guy, or at least the nicest he could be, agreed. Although Dohyon’s constant comments on his ‘awesome’ car did threaten to drive him crazy. But he didn’t mind, it took his mind off of other things.
And then there was you, clad in a green fleece shirt topped with a black jacket. Green and black wasn’t the best combination, but you seemed to be pulling it off easily, Seungyoun thought.
After dropping off Dohyon, you lead Seungyoun to the café you were planning to have lunch at. At first Seungyoun denied your request of eating together, coming up with the excuse that it wasn’t exactly part of the job description. But after much persuasion and a show of puppy eyes from your side, he reluctantly agreed.
And so, here he was in a café that made him awkwardly stand out in his black suit, watching you eat up 2 servings of steaks while he wasn’t even done with his first.
“You must try their chocolate soufflé, it tastes like heaven.”
Seungyoun nodded, “Are you gonna eat that too… after you finish the steak?”
You nodded through a full mouth. “Of course! That’s the highlight of this place,” then you proceeded to call up a waiter and order it. Seungyoun wanted to scoff but he ended up smiling.
Why are you smiling? Get yourself together, Seungyoun.
Seungyoun’s smile dropped.
A moment passed in silence, and then you spoke, “Seungwoo said you’re a scary guy.”
You kept your eyes on your plate when you said that, ignoring the abrupt attention Seungyoun gave you.
He cocked his head to one side, “He did?”
You looked up, chewing on a piece of the steak, and nodded your head. Seungyoun was still looking at you, face holding an unfathomable expression.
He looked away first, going back to the tiring action of cutting through his food. You were the one to stare this time, calculating every step you took carefully.
“You’re an enforcer, aren’t you?”
Seungyoun stopped cutting for a second. You waited for his face to give it away, but he only gave you a small smile.
“I gave you my visiting card the other day, I work at a hotel.”
“So you’re an enforcer for the hotel?,” You said, pressing the matter.
“I’m not that kind of a person.” Seungyoun’s response was quick and sharp. He locked his gaze with your once more.
The restaurant around you grew eerily silent as you two refused to back down from your intense stare-down. You raised your head, finally breaking your gaze when you asked,
“So, why did Seungwoo send you for me?”
Seungyoun replied, “I told you. Mr. Seungwoo is going for a business trip overseas for 2 weeks, and he asked me to ensure your safety until he returns.”
You were tempted to scoff, but held your disdain in.
“And who are you kidding?” Your voice no longer held the casual tone it did moments ago. You were annoyed before, but now you were furious. Furious at Seungyoun’s audacity to think of you as a fool.
“Excuse me?”
Seungyoun’s face was blank. On the other hand, your face was a raging mess of emotions; mostly anger and contempt.
“Seungwoo has asked you to keep an eye on me, hasn’t he?” You said.
And then you saw it, the expression you"d been waiting to see for hours. Though it lasted for an ephemeral moment you caught onto it easily. His eyes wavered, and jaw tightened.
You continued when he didn’t answer. “I know Seungwoo, and I know his… Possessiveness. He wants you to find something on me, to prove whether I’m faithful to him or not. That’s it, isn’t it?”
You looked on, eyes searching through Seungyoun’s face for the obvious answer.
“Because I’m young, naïve and easily swayed?”
Seungyoun picked up a napkin from the table before wiping his mouth, giving into a lopsided smile when he was done. It wasn’t a friendly smile, it wasn’t like that at all. You had to suppress a shiver threatening to run down your spine.
“You’re Smart.”
You didn’t smile back when you said, “I know.”
The silence reigned supreme again, but your curiosity broke it once more.
“So, have you?”
“What?” Seungyoun asked.
“Found something on me?”
He shook his head.
“Do you think you’ll find something on me?”
He shrugged, “Probably.”
You hummed in response, devouring the final piece of your steak. Seungyoun’s hooded eyes never left yours. Before his gaze feigned naivety but now with the truth unfolded, his eyes burned into yours with a new intensity.
You found it in yourself to smirk.
“This should be fun.”
The tension around you too dissipated when the waiter brought your chocolate soufflé, and your face lit up again with the smile you had moments ago. Seungyoun found it weird. There seemed to be something off about you. The fracture he was looking for was close, but he couldn’t put his hand on it. Not yet.
“So when are you going to ask me the question?” The chocolate coated the edges of your lips, when you took a bite of your soufflé, staining them.
Seungyoun asked, confused, “Which question?”
“The ‘why am I dating Seungwoo’ question?”
Seungyoun laughed.
Wow, you thought, he has a beautiful laugh. Then, you shook your head.
“Am I supposed to ask that question?”
You smiled, “I don’t know, everyone asks that question, so I thought you would too.”
“Okay then Y/n, why are you dating Mr. Seungwoo?”
You leaned against the table, looking far off, “Hmm. Let me think.”
Seungyoun fought the urge to wipe away the chocolate on your lips.
“I see Seungwoo differently than others see him.” You began.
Seungyoun looked up from your lips.
“To me he isn’t the dangerous Mr. Seungwoo you guys know him as. You see fear in him, I see potential. Potential to be good, to be better than what the world makes him. Whatever he does, all his doubts and suspicions they are just an imprint bad people left on his life. He can be fixed and I can fix him because I know whatever I do, he’ll never hurt me, never.”
You thought so highly of the man who had ordered Seungyoun to kill you at the slightest inconvenience. Such melodrama, this was going to break Seungyoun’s nonexistent heart.
“Of course.” Seungyoun’s eyes twitched as he lied.
This was going to be a tough ride.
**********************
9:49 pm
“By the way, Mr. Seungyoun, do you have trouble sleeping at night?”
You walked by Seungyoun on the driveway, on your way back back to his car.
“A little.”
Seungyoun pressed the unlock button on his car keys. His black car, parked a few steps away, blinked in a yellow light.
“Why’d you ask?”
You stepped down from the curb. “When you called in the morning it sounded like you just woke up, so I figured you must have had a rough night which led me to my theory that you might have trouble sleeping.”
You continued until Seungyoun reached the door to the driver’s seat. “Which leads me to my main point, if your hotel has chamomile tea you should try drinking it before you sleep. It’ll do you some good.”
Seungyoun turned to look at you,
“Thank you. I will keep it in mind.”
And Seungyoun did keep it mind. For as soon as he dropped you off and made sure you didn’t wander off anywhere else, he went back to the hotel and ordered a chamomile tea into his office.
He slept well that night.
******************
“Shouldn’t you be asleep? I think it’s like 3 am for you.”  Seungwoo spoke through the phone.
You stifled a yawn when you replied, “No, I just wanted to talk to you, see if you’re having fun.”
“I’m on a business trip Y/n, it isn’t exactly fun.” You could hear Seungwoo’s smile in his voice.
“Yeah, I know…It’s just that I missed you.”
“It’s been only two days since I left.”
“I know that too.”
“Go to sleep Y/n, I’ll talk in the morning.”
You turned around in your bed, eyes empty, mind awake.
“Okay…I love you.”
Seungwoo just hummed in response. Then the line cut and the phone dangled from your hand, aimless.
You recalled the day. A habit you couldn’t get rid of. You laughed at the memory of Dohyon vigorously complimenting Seungyoun’s car and Seungyoun’s face as he bore it all. You smiled when you remembered Seungyoun as he saw you eat so much food alone, then you remembered the weird little conversation you both had. And you remembered when he said ‘of course’ after you said Seungwoo would never hurt you.
And you remembered the twitch in his eyes.
And you remembered how his reassurance was a lie.

The One: UP10TION Edition
A/N: Hey, Honey10s! 5 months in the fandom and I was overwhelmed with the love and attention the boys are showering us (even when things weren’t smooth right now). If you’ve been in the long run with them, I wanted to thank you for rooting for them and for being so welcoming to baby Honey10s like me. You guys are love! So I decided to write this The Selection-inspired scenario from author Kiera Cass.
Tumblr media
From thousands of young men in the kingdom, ten had been chosen. They were from different castes, different walks of life, who have come to the palace to try winning your heart. And you, you’re none other than the heir, the next Queen. Now you’re halfway through your own Selection with these young men. Your life was turned upside down just having them around. The Coronation Day was fast approaching and everyone was watching, waiting for someone to be that One.
Ten fates depended on your decision.
Your fate was all in your own hands.
But nothing was easy.
The Selection might be grand—but so was real love.
Sir Jinwook Kim of Changwon, Four – speaks with so much calm, comforting smiles and kind words, his gentlemanly ways never fail to impress you
The faint afternoon sun gave you another view of him. You showed him the succulents that grew in the palace garden. He loved them and nostalgia was suddenly evident on his face. Your heart softened at the sight of the longing look in his eyes and a hint of a smile on his lips. He told you he had a lot of succulents in his room back home. The memory of his arrival in the palace came back to him. “I was shoved into the world of royals. I was losing it back then, but you smiled at me. You made it easy, Your Highness. You made it easier to fall for you.” He smiled, despite the thorns sinking in his skin.
Sir Sooil No of Ansan, Two – cool yet extremely funny, speaks whatever comes to mind, has nice smiles that changes his face, so much confidence
In the shadows you saw a familiar figure crouching behind a post as the guards greeted you with a bow. Two months in the palace and you knew the reason why he used to sneak at night. He just wanted air, he told you once. That made you think that he didn’t want to be confined inside the walls of this palace. He put a finger on his lips as a gesture of plea. You nodded your head at him. “I don’t like being at someone’s mercy,” he said quietly. “But if it’s you, Your Highness, then it’s an honor. Have your way.” You felt the dark hallway brightened when he smiled, leaving you there.
Sir Minsoo Go of Bucheon, Four – noble, prim and proper, tall, fair and handsome, intellectual, has a way with words, says what you need to hear rather than what you want
Before it got dark outside, he offered you a hand. With so much gentleness he pulled you up. The way his hand felt good in yours flustered you. He picked up his coat from the ground where you sat earlier. A smile appeared on his face for no reason and you found yourself transfixed on it. He returned your gazes openly. “A future without you in it… would be unbearable. Fate’s been good to me, anyway. I came to know you.” He brought your hand to his lips and gave it one of his many gentle kisses.
Sir Jinhyuk Lee of Hyewong-dong, Three – the tallest and confident one, pretty direct but he could be shy, expresses himself best when he holds you
The looming Coronation Day kept everybody on edge and you busier than before. Today had been spent with him in a marathon of classic movies. He asked you about the dreaded day of all the suitors. You heard fear in his voice, something that was new to you. “I don’t have much to offer—just my loyalty and this heart.” Your heart picked up a beat. “They’ll still be yours even if you choose to love another.”
Sir Changhyun Lee of Dongducheon, Four – sociable and communicative, life of the party, has pretty eyes and deep voice you like, there’s nothing he cannot do
“You seriously don’t have an idea how you make me feel?” he said, out of nowhere. His deep voice remained ringing in your ears. He didn’t even bat an eyelash when on the contrary you were surprised with his courage. “Can you give me a minute? I want to draw this exact moment.” Surely he didn’t mean the skies or the wonderful view before you. It was you and only you.
Sir Wooseok Kim of Daejeon, Two – mysterious, quiet, handsome, most of the suitors find him intimidating but he’s good to everyone
Time with him seemed inexplicably odd, immeasurable. The conversation had gone deeper from how your day went to your future plans for the kingdom. “For a One like you, what is there to want for? The kingdom, everyone’s loyalty, they’re everything and all for you—me included,” he said, finding your hand beside his. He said nothing more after that, looking up at the starry skies.
Sir Yein Seon of Jeollanam-do, Five – cute is an understatement, has pretty handwriting, written words, morals and his voice are your favorite things about him
His hand was feather-light on yours as he corrected your hold on the brush. He smelled like sweet berries and musk. He instructed you patiently. You noted how he had a knack for learning how to do things even if took him hours. He showed you his work and you were dazed by it, by him. You are more than just a number, a symbol. You are hope dressed in pastel colors and all the good things there are. The fine paper bled with his beautiful words written in calligraphy. He wiped the ink on your hand, pulling you out of a mesmerizing dream.
Sir Gyujin Han of Incheon, Five – tall, beautiful (and he doesn’t know he is), loves taking photos and music, soft-spoken, annoyingly funny, gentle
As the drizzle began to fall, he quickly took off his coat and put it on your head. You noticed him fuss with the suit, his movements and then back to his eyes. He stopped moving, unmindful of the rain. He spoke your name and it was music to you. “Just the fact that I can call you by your name is an honor. Just to be seen in your eyes is more than a privilege.” You saw yourself in his eyes, all wide-eyed and smitten. He then leaned in closer and you surprised yourself when you didn’t move away.
Sir Hwanhee Lee of Daejeon, Three – shy and quiet but also loud (very much) and fun-loving, polite and friendly, treats the other suitors as his brothers, soft-hearted
A quiet and sincere smile appeared on his lips just as you came out the door. You could tell he hurried to meet you by the looks of his tie. He let out a nervous chuckle when you smoothed it out for him. It was still adorable of him. You matched his smile and the tension eased. “I wasn’t made for this, you know. But sometimes I dream I was—I am—somehow, born for you.” He laughed it off, but you knew better. He was more honest when he was flippant.
Sir Dongyeol Lee of Busan, Two – bubbly and cheerful, acts cute all the time, very sweet, can talk the entire time, easygoing
He sat on the balcony, balancing his weight and tightening his grip on the railing. It worried you but you relaxed when you saw his easy manner. Being with people like him was easy. He asked questions because of curiosity without prejudice. “Love would be the one hurrying to find you. Don’t look for it. Love is on its way,” he advised and you agreed. And then his eyes twinkled with something close to mischief. “In the meantime, you can look at me.”

coterie: the ninja star (2/2)
gang!x1 x fem!reader
synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?
coterie’s masterlist can be found here
pairing: lee eunsang and y/n
a/n: mention of drugs, violence, and cursing. proceed with caution. THIS IS LONG AF.
it took a few days for any activity to resonate between you and eunsang. after that day eunsang agreed that he’d start training you, but he had not started anything. then one day, you were cleaning around your room when you heard knocks on your door. it was eunsang. you stood confused, and in response, he only told you, “get ready and meet me outside in ten minutes.” needless to say, you followed his order, and soon were sitting in the passenger’s seat. “let me tell you something,” he started off saying, breaking the silence between the two of you. “I know that you might think what I do is violent. you’ve seen it yourself with jinhyuk. you know what I’m capable of. where I’m going to take you today may affect your decision about working with me. just know that I honestly could care less what you choose and if you don’t want to work with me after today, you are more than welcome to just lay low and not work with me.” if you weren’t confused earlier, you sure as hell were now. he pulled into a parking lot that was fairly vacant. you seemed to be surrounded by abandoned buildings, and this area didn’t look like it had seen people in a while. “wait in the car. I’ll be back,” eunsang told you before stepping out of the vehicle and making his way over to one of the buildings. he hid skillfully, and you know where he was because you saw him but you didn’t realize what was about to happen. suddenly, two men appeared to be exiting one of the buildings. one man had continued walking while one idly stood in front of the building. just then, eunsang came out and beat the man up. you didn’t need to hear the painful screams leaving the man’s mouth as he called out for someone, and you only assume he was calling the man that left with him. but it was pointless because eunsang eventually threw a punch hard enough to send the man’s head flying back, splatters of red leaving his mouth and he fell back with a thud. you were confident that as the man landed on the concrete he’d definitely broken a few bones. eunsang walked back to the car, breathing heavy. he sat in and tried not to look as your shocked expression quickly morphed into one of a poker face. “so before you decide anything let me tell you who he was. this guy is part of a huge drug scandal, which he gets from us. one of the rules when purchasing anything from us is don’t do anything that will make us look bad. the news spread that the guy was lacing candy for innocent children with drugs this past halloween. he put almost ten kids in the hospital that night. he broke the most important rule, and so seungwoo hyung told me about this guy and we decided that we should take him out.” eunsang turned back to look at you, and your eyes were wide. “he’s not dead, he’ll just be out for a day or two.” he adds in, and you visibly relax a bit. “so, now you know. tell me, is this still a position you’ll consider?” and even though he was sure you were going to deny this job, in the back of his mind eunsang couldn’t help but think maybe, just maybe, you would still stay. and when you told him, “this makes me want to do it, even more, eunsang. I hope you realize that you won’t be getting rid of me that easily, buddy. I’m staying, and if I can help keep this city clean and free of dirtbags like that, then isn’t that also helping people?”
as soon as you agreed to train with eunsang, within a few days he decided to give you a bunch of ‘easy things’, according to him. to you, it was an introduction to self-defense, with basic moves, including various kicks and punches. and for someone who only had experience hurting cockroaches and teeny tiny spiders, you didn’t think you were doing too bad, but eunsang was quick to call you out. he’d say “not enough power” or “your stance is wrong” or “you messed up the order.” this didn’t stop you from training with him though. you’d never felt like this before, but it was an addictive feeling, punching and kicking the sandbags and the adrenaline that pumped in you and never quite died down. you remember telling eunsang about this feeling a few days after when you took a break during your session. as he drank out of his water bottle, and looked at you, heavily breathing. the fire that burned in your eyes that day in the car was unlike the one he saw now. if those were embers, then this was an inferno. eunsang knew that feeling, because it was the same thing he felt when he fought, too. at least he was doing something right, he thought, before re-wrapping his hands up with his gauze, signaling the continuation of your training session. but you were only human. because all this was new to you mentally and physically, it didn’t take long before you felt yourself starting to burn out. your body would be in pain, aching and pulsing as you’d push yourself down onto your bed, landing with a thud. all you wanted to do was sleep. and just as you felt like you were finally relaxing, your alarm would go off again, signaling the beginning of the next day. and you think you can hide your exhaustion but after seeing you starting to lose power in your punches, eunsang’s eyebrows get furrowed. “stop,” he gruffly says, holding the sandbag you just hit to halt any further movements. breathing heavily, you look back up at him, “what?” “you’re losing your power. what’s going on with you?” you brush it off, “nothing,” “y/n.” he sternly calls and you slowly meet his eyes. “you don’t think I’ve noticed, huh? you have trouble keeping your eyes open, you yawn constantly, you’ve been losing strength in your attacks. what’s wrong?” frustrated, you lean against a wall and push your hair back, “sorry, but this is all way too new for me. I thought it would be easy to get used to but it really isn’t. I’ve not had a good night’s sleep in so long, so that’s probably why I am how I am right now.” eunsang looks as if there are gears turning in his head. he sighs, placing his fingers on the bridge of his nose and groans, “fine, take a break. go fuck around, do whatever, I don’t care. sleep, right, that’s what you want? do that. but be ready to train in two days. I haven’t told you anything yet but we have a mission and it’s one where I’m going to need you to get involved also,” and just as you are about to ask him for more details, the boy pushes you out of the room and shuts the door in your face. ugh, once an ass, always an ass.
but that statement didn’t really ring true to you anymore. if someone asked you in the beginning if you liked eunsang, you’d tell them that you’d shit your pants before even starting a conversation with him. but you know that after spending more time with him, he’s not as bad as you thought he’d be. sure he can come off as an asshole sometimes and is not really the best with his words, but all in all, he’s not intimidating to you anymore. and part of you feels terrible for judging hire character even before you had a proper conversation with him, but another part of you tried to justify it by telling yourself he’s the one that beat up jinhyuk. you were the one that patched him up after that, so you remember how bad his wounds were. if eunsang could beat him up like that, who knows what else he’s capable of? but your thoughts are cut short because the minute you enter your room you hit the shower, and then plop yourself onto your bed, and the long-anticipated slumber your body craved for finally took over and within a short period of time you were out like a light. the next couple of days may have been the slowest days you’ve had ever since you’ve arrived at the mansion. because you didn’t have anything to do, you really would either sleep or just fuck around, but that got boring too quickly. all you were thinking about was the mission eunsang briefly mentioned to you, and how you were going to be involved this time around.
meanwhile, eunsang immediately noticed your absence in those two days. he didn’t realize it until now, but without you in the training room, things were kind of boring. that’s because when you started training with him, you’d train then ask him random questions, to which he’d give random answers, and as hard as his exterior made him seem, he thought you were amusing. you reminded him a lot of how he used to be. before eunsang was recruited to be a part of x1, he was... a college student, much like you were. he got in on a sports scholarship, for boxing. he was also a tae kwon do major. he remembered his freshman year when he was genuinely happy. he dreamed to open a place where he could teach children tae kwon do so that they could feel the love for the sport, just like he did. things, unfortunately, weren’t always in his favor. one day, he got a call. it was seungwoo, who offered him the job. he was elated of course, but when he told his family about it, they were adamant about telling him no. eunsang had to think long and hard: because he came in on a sports scholarship, his school tuition was paid for. his parents worked their asses off to pay for his pre-college training. if he had been given the opportunity to give back to them, then. why the fuck shouldn’t he? eunsang remained persistent and this led to his family cutting off all ties with him. now he had a job, but for who? his parents weren’t happy with him, they didn’t even want to see him anymore. so eunsang kept his word to seungwoo and stayed working for him. but not a day goes by when eunsang doesn’t remember his family. he still loves them dearly, because, well, it’s family.
pretty soon, though, the two days pass for the both of you. you walk into the training room and breathe in. you wait patiently for eunsang to show up because when he does, he sees the anticipation in your eyes, and starts, “seems like you want to know something.” “you know what I want to ask you about, eunsang.” you crossed your arms and impatiently tapped your foot. “fine, okay. the mission is in a few days and... it’s a girl.” confusion is clear on your face, so he elaborates, “the person you have to beat up is a girl.” that’s why he wants you to do it? because he doesn’t want to hit a girl? subconsciously you find this gesture of eunsang’s endearing. but you don’t let him know, and instead ask him, “who is she?” eunsang grimaces, “she’s the daughter of the military general. she’s been involved with some of the underground gangs and has also been involved in some activity involving hazing and college kids. we’re going after her because if we punish her and keep her in our custody, we’ll not only stop her from doing any more damage but also have the military general under our control.” so the next few days, your training is rigorous. in fact, you are confident that your training is the most intense now, but you think that the two day break really helped you out because as you throw your last set of punches, you could have sworn you saw eunsang smile from the corner of your eye. your suspicions proved to be true when you turned your head and the beam that grew on woman’s face remained, and you swear, your heart skipped a beat. “really good, y/n! at this rate, you’ll be ready to fight!” a hesitant smile grew on your face, but eunsang noticed it, and his eyebrows creased. “what’s wrong?” “I just...” you start, “don’t feel ready. I’ve never done something like this before, and this seems like it’s huge and I don’t wanna fuck up.” eunsang’s heartbeat accelerates as he responds,“you’ll do fine, y/n. trust me, with the way you’ve been training, you’ll definitely be able to kick her ass. I’m sure of it and if you need any help, which I doubt, I’ll be waiting for you.” eunsang places his hand on your shoulder and your eyebrows shoot up. “is this you being nice, eunsang? wow, I get this and a smile today? you must be really happy.” eunsang rolls his eyes and pushes you playfully and you laugh. he gets caught up in admiring the contours of your smile and the way the corners of your eyes crinkle.
and the day of the fight rolls around. fast. you’ve arrived at an abandoned apartment building, eunsang is waiting nearby, equipped with a walkie talkie for efficient communication. he stands impatiently near the car, leg bouncing and praying that you stay safe. and the girl, eunha, is supposed to be arriving at this location for something. she’s not expecting to see you as she enters the building. “who the fuck are you?” her nasally voice screeches in your ears and that makes you want to punch her even more. “that doesn’t matter. what matters is I’m here to make sure you stop. no one deserves the treatment you give people. it’s disgusting.” without warning, you swing at her. the minute your fist connects with her jaw, you know it’ll end well. she holds up a fight, jabbing you in the stomach a few times while dodging your own. she has a bloody lip, and you have cuts along your knuckles and one on your forehead. “give it up already.” she tells you and attempts to kick you but you move out of the way. “make it easy for me then. stop fighting back and just come with me.” upon her refusal, you continue to fight. things start to get crazy when she picks up a metal bar that was found nearby and tries to swing it at you. you dodge it just at the right time and snatch it from her, only to pound it strongly against the back of her head. there was so much power in that one hit that eunha tightly closed her eyes, and stumbled to the ground, on her knees and her hands going up behind her head to console the fresh wound. “I got her, eunsang,” you say into the walkie talkie. you pull out a small piece of rope you’d kept with you and panting hard, you manage to tie her hands behind her back. pretty soon, eunsang shows up and finds you leaning against the wall, still huffing from your intense quarrel. he picks up eunha and throws her over his shoulder, then turns to you and motions you to lead the way. you both walk out of the building and towards the car. you open the back door for eunsang to lie eunha on the seat, and you both then sit in the front seats and eunsang starts the car, leaving the destination. “how long will she be knocked out for? I hit her pretty hard,” you start, running your fingers through your hair. you ignore the slow sinking in your stomach.“she’ll be out for a couple of hours, which is plenty of time to get her back home, and the boys will help us out from there.”  the silence grows in the car, and you’re not sure if eunsang can sense the nervousness from you. your throat seems to tighten and your head hurts immensely. when eunsang looks at you and says, “why are you crying?” you let out a shaky breath before saying, “did I do the right thing? should I have not hit her as hard?” you ramble, violently wiping at the tears falling from your eyes. eunsang hesitantly reaches over and places his hand on your knee, “hey, it’s okay. you did do the right thing. we’re not the bad guys, you know that. don’t feel bad, y/n.” eunsang stops at a red light and turns to fully look at you, his hand patting your knee. and maybe you’re just overwhelmed with emotion, but you lean in and plant a kiss on eunsang’s lips. before he seems to even react to it, you hear a honk from behind you, and you break away from the kiss. you look outside, embarrassed as ever. “sorry,” you mumble and eunsang keeps driving.
the car is silent the rest of the way until you reach the mansion. eunsang and you leave the car, and before you say anything, eunsang says, “go in. you’ve done well for the day. I’ll call the boys to help me out.” you walk quickly, entering the house, only to go directly to your room and closing the door shut once you’re in. you’re embarrassed and ashamed. “stupid, stupid, stupid.” you mumble, pacing back and forth in the room, hitting your hand against your forehead, wincing when it touched the cut inflicted during the fight. you don’t know how long you were doing that for but you hear a knock on your door. you pause and go to open the door, to reveal a flustered eunsang, playing with his hands. “can I uh, come in?” you move to the side, and he enters. “listen, about earlier,” you start, rubbing your forearm, “I just, I don’t know why I did that.” eunsang finally meets his eyes with your own and a flash of an emotion passes through them. “did it mean anything to you?” he asks, and a glint of hope is resonated in his tone. “honestly? yeah, it did. because I like you, lee eunsang. in the beginning, I hated you, but now, you’ve shown me a whole new side to you, and I liked it all. it’s okay if you don’t like me back, I get it-” you’re cut off when eunsang takes long strides towards you and joins his mouth with yours, cupping your face between his fingers and shutting his eyes. you swallow your own words as you grab onto his waist, kissing him back with just as much fervor. “I like you too, y/n. I think from the moment I met you I liked you. you just...reminded me a lot of how I used to be, happy. when I met you, I never thought I’d be happy again. I was always sad and depressed and I had a hard time expressing my feelings. but when you came along, it felt like you revived me. I can’t see myself without you anymore, and I want you to be mine.” a fresh batch of tears pool in your eyes, this time out of happiness. “of course, eunsang. I’ll be yours,” and you lean in to peck his lips once more. that night, you and eunsang stay up together, where he tells you all about how he used to live before x1, and you tell him about your college life. one thing that you both are able to agree on, though, is that in the end, you both found each other, and that’s all that matters.
a/n: that’s a wrap for eunsang! sorry if the fighting scene wasn’t all that great, I’ve never written any before 😖. thank you all for being so patient with me, this week’s been crazy and the semester is almost over so my final exams are coming up so I’ve just been really stressed with that ❤. on the bright side though, my winter break will be LONG so that means I can give you guys more coterie! now tell me, who do you choose next? if you didn’t think the ninja star was eunsang, who’d you think it was? let me know in the comments and as always, thank you guys once again for supporting the series!!

Genre: Action
Warnings: Angst, Violence, MCD, Swearing
Inspo: The Hunger Games
“And the male victor.... Lee Jinhyuk”
His head shot up, eyes looking wildly around him. He could see the female tributes body relaxing, relieved that it was someone she didn't know, someone she didn't have to care about. The two men next to him both choked on sobs, the smallest bending over in relief and guilt. Jinhyuk didn't know how to act or what to do, didn't know where to go.
The only reason he sirvived was because he was a coward, a filthy fucking coward who hid from everyone, and killed a 12 year old who he promised to protect. His hands were shaking, his vision blurry as he stood, emotions numb to the cheers of the crowd around him. She was just 12, so scared of everything and of being hurt- he took her in and kept her warm and safe and fed and then he slit her throat while she was sleeping because he was scared and she was so so easy to take down. He waited in the trees until the few remaining survivors found her, watched as they buried her, gave her the decency she deserved and then dropped the hornets nest on them.
He watched the replay over and over when he was out. That girls face was in his mind forever, and now he was getting what he deserved. He didn't want to die, he realised. Maybe he thought he did before, but now, with the thought of just disappearing? Jinhyuk was scared, down to his very fucking core, of dying away in a battlefield, with some careers blade deep in his neck, he was scared of the woman across from him, of her will and skill and her want to get back to her child and husband. With dead weight legs, he made it to the front of the stage and half bowed, dreading coming back up. Eyes focused dead centre in front of him, he straightened, his soul leaving him with every centimetre.

Tumblr media
hello everyone! this intro post is super belated, but thank you for all your kind messages! i’m slowly but surely responding to all of them right now, but i figured i should get one of these up before it’s too late! i’m super excited to bring my best boy lee jinhyuk into the rp ♥ some quick stats: lee jinhyuk, 21, works as a delivery boy for yum yum chicken and at an escape room service, no escape! he’s also a former idol; he was in a group called spect8 (you can read more about them here) which officially disbanded earlier this year, so naturally he feels some kind of way about it. you can read more about him on his profile and background pages, but i’ll drop some notes + wanted connections under the cut as well! if anything interests you, please hmu or alternatively, if you’d like to plot please hit the like button on this post and i’ll pop into your ims ♥ thanks for reading and i can’t wait to write with you all!
TL;DR:
so: lee jinhyuk, former stage name is wei but he’ll still answer to it now because he’s fond of it. recently turned twenty one but sometimes he feels a lot younger and other times he feels like he’s ancient. stuck somewhere in the middle but definitely does not feel entirely normal
what’s up, my peers? cannot connect with you!
former idol (or failed idol, if you prefer). got scouted in his final year of middle school by a small company preparing to debut their first group, passed the audition and trained all through high school. was added to the debut line up in 2016 and it was honestly one of the happiest days of his life!
and then, you know, shit sucked. the group was never popular and suffered further when two of their most popular members left. were put on hiatus around the beginning of 2018 and officially disbanded in 2019, though most members had already gone their own ways before then
post disbandment, jinhyuk returned home and tried to get his life together, eventually realizing that he really did not want to give up his dream of becoming an idol just yet. so he’s still! fighting! to debut again, hopefully with better results this time
lives with his parents and younger sister - she attends hanlim and very much wants to be an idol in spite of jinhyuk’s own failure. does his best to be a supportive brother but he’s a little worried about her lmao
decided not to attend university after disbandment; he did one semester online @ kyung hee before dropping out and he genuinely like... does not think academics are for him
spends his time working as a delivery boy for yum yum chicken. works some pretty weird hours, tbh. also works part time at no escape! he’s really good at escape room puzzles so it’s a perfect fit
volunteers at the local community centre when he has time; teaches a baby’s first hip hop class, basically, which is great for him because he loves working with kids. probably would’ve gone into like childcare or early education if he had the drive
his specialty is definitely rap + dance but he doesn’t consider himself all that skilled yet. both are talents he had to work hard to develop after he became a trainee. still tries to take classes and keep up with practice when he can...
a really good boy... like he’s genuinely very bright & friendly and easy to get along with. collects people like you might collect stamps... has a good memory so will remember the most random facts or things you’ve said but it’s because he cares about you. also generally laid back, doesn’t get angry easily, not really shy or afraid of anything. super affectionate, can get silly/dumb, adopts kids like no one’s business
can get morose sometimes especially when his ~idol past is brought up. like he tries to pretend he’s not bothered! but he is... though he’s mostly sad because he’s internalized the failure as his fault and part of him worries he’s used up his one (1) chance at his dream but it’s fine. takes a lot for his bitterness to come to the surface but it happens occasionally
pls................... love him
WANTED CONNECTIONS:
his ride or die best friend!! is probably close to many people but like... (1) friend (preferably long term/established) who knows all the shit jinhyuk’s been through and stuck through the good times and the bad. jinhyuk would 100% take a bullet for them... he’s not good at leaning on people but someone who could like actually allow him to relax around them would be great
former fans of spect8? current fans? was pretty involved with fans (think wonho from monsta x lmao) so he had a good reputation in the fandom! the group was never all that popular to begin with, so jinhyuk valued all the fans he had. with disbandment he thinks they’re essentially forgotten--so to discover they still have fans would be really cool
big fan of rebuilding relationships so like old friends or classmates he lost touch with after he became a trainee and is slowly reconnecting with now... not the same person as they remember, probably, but that’s fun to play with
yum yum chicken customers?? that one person who always orders the same thing @ 2 am and jinhyuk’s the one who delivers it every single time.... the person with the suspiciously large order who invites jinhyuk inside to eat so they don’t look like it’s all theirs... the person who made him run around the riverside searching for them so he can deliver their food please
also no escape! customers? you gave up 10 minutes into your escape room and now you’re just chatting with jinhyuk over the phone instead of asking for hints... you refuse to leave the escape room until you solve it even though your time expired like 2 hours ago... you and jinhyuk get trapped in an escape room but this is like the only one jinhyuk hasn’t memorized the puzzles for rip
other people who volunteer at the community centre, whether with dance classes literally anything else? they have a good working relationship or a friendly rivalry for whatever reason?
or you come to drop your siblings/cousin/friend’s kid/whatever for dance class and meet jinhyuk who kind of ropes you into joining in with the rest and won’t take no for an answer! it’ll be fun!!
jinhyuk helped you out of a tight situation or something once and you accidentally caught feelings for him... and he knows you did but he doesn’t want to bring it up so now he just pretends he’s oblivious!
you’re small and jinhyuk is a giant and you absolutely hate being next to him but you get paired up or tricked into doing a lot of shit together. he thinks you’re.... so cute... but you want him to get away from you
you and jinhyuk were rivals in like the fifth grade and when you see him again after falling out of touch, you’re filled with rage... turns out he doesn’t remember your rivalry and thought you were friends the whole time
jinhyuk’s friends set you two up on a blind date. he’s literally never been on a date before and has 0 experience with romance so it would sure be something?
you’re with jinhyuk when he gets injured and he’s like “i’ll deal with it!” but you try to get him to go to the hospital and he freaks the fuck out
you play basketball/video games together all the time and jinhyuk always loses so you think he just sucks.... turns out he’s been letting you win this entire time
you always meet jinhyuk at the public baths and you’re convinced he doesn’t exist outside of them like some kind of house spirit but...... you run into him at the store and you’re amazed
this is so long already but i’m really open to almost anything so please plot with us!!

[TRANS] Boyfriend Character Descriptions
Tumblr media
Kim Jinhyuk (Park Bogum)
There is only one address on the abstract of his resident registration. He was born, grew up and still lives in the house in Hongje-dong. For 29 years. Jinhyuk's father has been running a fruit shop in the neighbourhood for as long as Jinhyuk has been alive. Like his parents, Jinhyuk is kind and takes a lot of interest in his neighbours - he is the cutie of the marketplace and amongst the adults. However, despite getting good grades, it's still unknown as to why he remains a jobseeker a year after his graduation.
The truth is that there is a part that is unfair. He entered school a year early, and graduated a year earlier because of his outstanding grades, so compared to his peers he's definitely not a late jobseeker. But still, he's been relaxing for a year so we have nothing else to say.
He has steadily worked part time jobs while preparing for employment. From working in the supermarket warehouse to the food corner at the department store. Paying his mobile phone bills, transport and sometimes a glass of beer at the neighbourhood hangout, Daechan's shop. Other than that he saved up the rest of the money and left for a 4 week trip to Cuba. Will there be another long adventure like this in Jinhyuk's life again? This could very likely be his last luxury. On the last night when he was capturing Cuba's beauty with an old film camera in hand. He accidentally took a photo of the woman who had lost her way.
Tumblr media
Kim Jangsoo (Shin Junggeun)
Jinhyuk’s father
He has run a fruit business his whole life. Even though he's not making a lot of money, he's happy that he's raised his two sons well. But if he had to choose something that he was worried about, then maybe it would be Jinhyuk's job seeking. But since even that has been resolved, there's nothing more that he could ask for.
Your children don't always act that way you want but that's nothing new, so rather than scolding them, he looks over them them in silence. He raised them to be proper. So that's why his son is polite.
Tumblr media
Joo Yeonja (Baek Jiwon)
Jinhyuk’s mother
While working with her husband in the marketplace, she has lived her life with high hopes for her smart and good looking eldset son, Jinhyuk.
There's also her second son Jinmyung as well, but maybe it's because he's the youngest.. he's just cute. The truth is, he gets into so much trouble all the time that she doesn't really have any high expectations for him.
Jinhyuk is doing well now so everything is fine. However she can't help but think that Jinhyuk might cause a big accident eventually, but in hindsight that doesn't seem like it could happen.
Tumblr media
Kim Jinmyung (Pyo Jihoon)
Jinhyuk’s younger brother
Behind his brother's uprighteousness, Jinmyung grew up happily, living a free and unrestrained life. He has absolutely no interest in going to unversity.
He wants to succeed as a businessman, but there seems to be little future in his father's fruit shop. He's currently working at Daechan's Whelk shop and in the middle of convincing Daechan that he needs to start a chain business.
Tumblr media
Lee Daechan (Kim Jooheon)
Owner of ‘Chan’s Whelks’
He runs the pub in Jinhyuk's neighbourhood that serves whelk as the main side dish. He started at the age of 30 and has found a stable footing now.
Daechan's spicy whelk is no joke. There are even more customers who come just to eat the whelk. He's a hyung who is alike a friend to Jinhyuk, and Jinmyung. Jinhyuk who helps out for free when the shop is busy gets unlimited whelk for free!
