TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Bargain (2022, South Korea)
Director: Jeon Woo Sung
Writers: Jeon Woo Sung, Choi Byeong Yun & Kwak Jae Min (based on the short film by Lee Chung Hyun)
Mini-review:
I have to say I loved how batshit crazy and unhinged this drama is. You can never really know what it's going to throw at you next, and I feel like that's very hard to achieve these days. Beyond that, the drama makes brilliant use of its long single-take, real-time scenes, which make you feel like you're right there with the characters. The sets are also incredible, and they make the whole thing feel so claustrophobic (in a good way, I guess). On top of that, Jeon Jong Seo, Jin Seok Kyu and Chang Ryul give three show-stopping performances that certainly rank among the very best of their careers. Tbh, I can understand why many people disliked it (the characters tend to ramble, the epilogue feels very unnecesary and sometimes it gets a bit too crazy), but I personally enjoyed every second of Bargain.

Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness
#kdramas#so many orphans#you would think that Korean children never have parents who make it to 60#if they manage to be alive they are the worst

[Interview] Lee Je Hoon for 𝘔𝘌𝘕 𝘕𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦 April issue — English translation
Translation by @forleejehoon. Please do not repost/share full or in parts without credits.
Lee Je Hoon is an actor that shines. There's plenty of inner glow coming from him – instead he wishes to become a light that's impossible to replace.
Taxi Driver 2's popularity is respectable. Apparently each episode garners over 10% of watch ratings.
I'm grateful just for the fact that season 2 was able to come out, as soon as the broadcasting started it got good reactions so I didn't know what to do with myself. It felt like being greatly compensated for the many hours I've spent filming.
It was intense since the shot of Kim Do Ki's back at the very beginning.
The very first line in the script director wrote was "Do Ki working out in a prison cell". One has to devote themselves to the scene, of course. (laughs) While thinking 'it's my last time showing my skin' I prepared for it diligently. Today at the promotion shootings, I'm flashing the little that remains of my abs. (laughs)
Kim Do Ki is a character that keeps changing his personas to punish the villains. You had to embody all these different characters in one project and although it's something to boast about as an actor, wasn't it difficult?
I filmed everything very happily while enjoying all of it. The difference between the personas is big so I worried a lot about what it's like for the viewers to watch it on screen. I thought a lot about how I should make it feel more continuous, too. Despite the times when I didn't feel content with my acting, I gained confidence since luckily everyone is enjoying watching it. For season 2 I filmed with the mindset “let’s play even harder”.
In the documentary Another Record: Lee Je Hoon you revealed to actor Lee Dong Hwi about your wish to do comedic acting. This time you happened to fulfill it to your heart's content.
In my case, I have no talent of making people around me laugh. Because of that, me doing comedic acting always felt far-fetched. In this project I formed a nice ensemble with the rest of the cast as well as the script was interesting and funny.
So this was a new challenge for you?
To be honest, I'm not an actor who's skilled in adlibs. If in the past I was someone who acted out the script exactly as it was written, now I have let my abilities come to surface and let them be seen. If I see some part in the dialogue or the script that could be filled, I express my ideas, so I play [characters] while contributing to the script.
As an actor you must've changed quite a bit?
Honestly there were times when even the act of familiarizing myself with the dialogue and simply acting felt like it was too much. Now as a person who's a narrator of the story, I feel the responsibility to lead projects. Once again it's the battle with time for filming sites. "Ah, why didn't I do this then", "why did I miss this" – I don't want any of such worries to remain so I have to distribute everything within the given time.
I could feel this passion of yours fully at the promotion shoot today, too. Felt like watching some sort of silent drama.
Promotion shoots aren't that different from when I'm acting. There aren't many chances to show myself equipped with cool and flashy jewelry. Now that I've left a memory of this new image of myself, I feel like I’ll be able to pull it off it in a future project. Through such collected experiences, I feel like I muster up courage to take on new challenges.
In the 4th episode a country boy Lee Je Hoon ordering around in Chungcheon satoori surprised the viewers with freshness, too.
It's the same for me. For Chungcheon people it'll look lame for sure. Despite that people have watched my trying self with affection. Through this opportunity both as an actor and as Lee Je Hoon I've acquired another thing I can do. If I happen to visit Chungcheon I shall try using it. (laughs)
I believe Kim Do Ki could become a character of a lifetime.
It can happen. It's truly fascinating to have been able to show so many varied personas in one piece of work. Although while I was acting I had thoughts like "other actors could pull off this role way better", but as long as it's Taxi Driver's Kim Do Ki – I think I can do it the best. Other actors substituting me wouldn't work. Of course there are better actors. But as much as it's hard to imagine [other actors playing as Kim Do Ki], Kim Do Ki is a character that I love and cherish.
Out of the entire bouquet of Kim Do Ki personas, who would be the closest to ordinary Lee Je Hoon?
To be honest, there isn't a single one that's similar to me. (laughs) Someone who's intelligent, someone who's humorous – both of these sides can be seen in little parts in me but even that would be an exaggeration.
To the viewers it feels cathartic to watch how the villains are punished. Was there any moment that felt the most satisfying for you personally?
Rather than action scenes, I think I felt the satisfaction when relaying a deep message.
What kind of message could that be?
Although I can't reveal any spoilers from the second half of the show, the most I can say is that in English you can express it as “memory” or “remember”. In season 2 these are the keywords that keep reappearing. "Do remember" is always what it ends with. In each episode it’s the crimes that are handled and the absurd reality of them. So such a message is the foundation of Taxi Driver.
Looking at your filmography including Taxi Driver, there are quite many works that are box office successes or are award-winning. Should I say that you have good luck with projects, or do you have a good eye when choosing them?
I do have my personal standards when choosing a project to work on. I want to do such projects that stay in viewers' hearts and minds for a long time. Not the ones that have no retainment value. It's good if fun is all that the experience of watching a movie gives, however there's nothing I'd need anymore in life if I can only be someone that leaves an effect on people's lives. Although I myself am an actor, when it comes to movies I have this same preference. Because I too get influenced by the works I watch.
Ahead of you there's the movie Escape that you'll star in together with actor Koo Kyo Hwan. In the 42nd Blue Dragon Awards you revealed that you'd "like to act with Koo Kyo Hwan once" and now it's a reality. Did your comment make any influence in the casting?
I was curious myself so I asked the production team. They said it did have an influence. I'm a lucky fan. (laughs)
Now that you have actually worked with him, how was it?
Although the movie is already a masterpiece, since I'm acting together with Koo Kyo Hwan it will shine even brighter. Once again I realized how an actor is an important part of a movie. Although we didn't talk too much, I have a partner with whom I can exchange feelings and the dialogue. Even though I haven't met Koo Kyo Hwan in private settings, the way we matched together felt like smooth sailing.
Let's talk about the days when you dreamt of being an actor. You dropped out of university and at 25 years old started attending Korea National University of Arts. Even before that, you were in the theater scene but then entered a university again – was there any particular reason that made you decide like that?
I decided I wanted to act and hung around the Daehakro [Arts Theatre] when I was 21-22 years old, somewhere around that time. I’ve experienced acting for only about 1-2 years and believed I could make a decision. Whether I really have the talent and interest to pursue such a road. But as time went on, I still couldn’t find answers to both of those questions. I didn’t give up and in order to fulfill my dream completely I thought I needed some kind of opportunity to reach the finish line.
But the people you’ve worked with are very sure [about your talent]. Director Yoon Sung Hyun, while recalling the filming for Bleak Night, has observed that you’re a born actor, as well as actor Park Jeong Min has said that you’re an actor who has great inner charge of pathos-energy. You’ve been getting such comments since the rookie days, doesn’t that make you a natural?
I’m not too sure about this. When someone discovers me, something inside of me seems to bring out some things in them – I can imagine hearing comments like that. Directors and writers cast me so it’s possible that the director adds more focus onto me. My presence can come out when lighting directors shine their light onto me. No matter how well I can act or how confident I am, it’s the fact that such people exist or else I couldn’t shine as an actor.
It’s been around 17 years since you’ve debuted in a short film Litmus of Truth. Maybe it’s because I didn’t see current you being that different from Architecture 101’s Seung Min but I didn’t really think you’ve had such work experience.
Wow, it’s been this many years. Come to think of it, I’ve set up a production company with the people I’ve worked with on Litmus of Truth. (laughs)
It’s been 2 years since that, right? Since you’ve set up a production company named “Hard Cut” together with director Yang Gyeong Mo and producer Kim Yu Gyeong.
That’s right. If there comes a time when, willingly or not, I wouldn’t be able to act, I’ve tried thinking about what kind of job I could do. Will I be able to do another job, do I want more burden. But I didn’t have much of a choice. Even if I couldn’t act, I still want to be someone that’s present in the filming site. I could be someone that generates ideas, or I could be a maknae that holds the light reflector. That’s why I’ve created “Hard Cut”, there are many things I’m learning about myself. How much I actually love movies or what kind of acting I should show from now onwards. The things I couldn’t see before are now right before my eyes. When it comes to making movies, it doesn’t matter from which position or what I do – I have the will for anything.
I’m wondering about what kind of concerns does an actor of 17 years have.
Instead of having concerns I believe I should be putting much of continuous efforts. There are many things that I still don’t know and things that I still lack in, however I have great desire to make good movies. Suddenly I thought to myself what would I answer to this question if 10 years from now I’m asked a similar one – in the future I’d like my answer to be the same as today. I wish to be an actor that feels such thirst [to make great movies] persistently.
Are there any moments that felt monumental?
When it’s a national holiday? (laughs) When it’s a holiday, they broadcast special selection movies. Whenever a movie I worked on is chosen to be shown, I’m very thankful. There are movies that are box office hits, or that have a good message behind them, whatever the reason – all of them are works containing great meaning.
What adjective would you like there to be in front of your name?
An actor that’s impossible to replace. Isn’t that truly the greatest praise.
In brackets I’ve personally added more context to help understand the meaning more clearly.

Seon-ho and Sung-rok relationship(1)
Since Seon-ho has other layers apart from being emotional he was an interesting and complex character so his relationships with other characters are very interesting. here is belong to him (although I'll put from other series and characters) and I want to write my personal understanding of his relationships with other characters (this time for Seon-ho and Sung-rok,the relationship that I'm sure has many fans, including myself)
They don't have many scenes together, but it is strong enough to make a big impact on the series, and one of the reasons for that is the complexity of both of them.
About Seon-ho: Well he is always in trouble for his situation (being a bastard and also his mother's social status) so he had a certain guard against everyone even if he doesn't show it (except Hwi, Yeon and to some extent Hui-jae because they never humiliate him for this reason) well, Song-Rok humiliates him (of course not because of being a bastard, we will talk about it in Song-Rok's section), so the beginning of their relationship is not good so we can't imagine they going to work together But the scene where Seon-ho tells Sung-rok that he will take orders from him one day is shocking, both because of Seon-ho's gaze and the fact that it happens right next episode.(Seon-ho has a calm and introverted personality, the times when he threatens someone seems to be very different, that's why I like those sequences so much) Seon-ho needs Sung-rok, Sung-rok is also abandoned and he needs new master , so Seon-ho takes the opportunity and their relationship moves forward more seriously. At first, there is no emotion (for either of them), it is just their mutual work commitment (especially Sung-rok). Song-Rok isn't a treacherous person and doesn't involve emotions in his work, this is enough for Seon-ho to keep him (actually, Seon-ho is never the one to leave Sung-rok like Lee Seung Gi) their relationship continues like this. until he get uses to Sung-rok's presence with him . Sung-rok keeps telling him the consequences of Seon-ho's decisions (for Seon-ho himself). But Seon-ho is so obsessed with Hwi that he doesn't listen to him and always gets into trouble while Hwi won't be there to save him (although Seon-ho knows everything before Sung-rok's words) when Hwi stabbed Seon-ho and this incident makes Seon-ho finally able to give up on him (I'm not stupid, he still hasn't given up on Hwi, he just managed to show him how broken he was for the first time in action), when Sung-rok tells him That touching dialogue about the relationship between a master and his warrior could be the point that Seon-ho becomes emotionally attached to him (or perhaps earlier, when he throws Seon-ho's sword at him with Yeon's ribbon he tied to it )To be honest, we know that until this scen he has been by Seon-ho's side, but right at this point, our perspective changes and we see him as an important person next to Seon-ho, who is like a family to Seon-ho in a way. He becomes an older brother and even a father that he has never experienced. Seon-ho tells him that he knows Sung-rok protects him , which means he's never careless about him, it's just that circumstances don't allow him to take care of Sung-rok as well (we know who I'm talking about).Seon-ho allows him to be with him in the attack on Bang-won's residence even though he knows he will be killed, maybe because Seon-ho knows how it feels to protect someone you care about, and he knows him well (like him) and on the other hand he has no attachment to life and he is sure that he'll be killed, he didn’t think that Sung-rok would die before him and this is such a big shock for him that he drops his sword slow down and give in to Bang Won to kill him (I really didn't expect that look and cry from him), then he grabs Sung-rok's body again and can't leave him. They couldn't tell their last words to each other(especially Seon-ho). He returned Sung-rok's sword, either because he knowed himself as guilty as ever, or because he wanted to die more than ever. When he thanked Sung-rok for everything, even though Hwi considered him his friend again and was by his side, I found him very lonely.

Yuletide Fics By and For Me
Yuletide authors have now revealed, so I feel like it's a good time for me to link both the gift I received and the fics I wrote for it, for anyone interested :D
I got a very RTMI King's Affection fic this year, featuring Noh Ha-kyung/Dam-yi, the original crown prince surviving, and twin-swapping shenanigans. Y'all should read it!!
A Lotus Flower, Flourishing in the Dark
What if Lee Hwi hadn't died? Well, some things would have changed, but others would not.
And now, the fics I wrote!
From Moth Back Into Caterpillar, Nirvana in Fire, Jingyan & Lin Shu, 11k, T-rated.
A deaged Lin Shu escapes the Su Residence and runs off to find Jingyan.
wish we could turn back time, Nirvana in Fire, Mei Changsu/Lin Shu, 5.8k, Explicit.
An experimental medicine of Lin Chen's makes Mei Changsu dream his way back into the past. Dream, of course, of Lin Shu.
Marriage, a Wellspring, The Silent Sea, Han Yoon-jae/Song Ji-an, 12k, M-rated.
Han Yoonjae marries Song Jian for better water access. For his daughter's sake. There do turn out to be other benefits
A Basic Test, The Silent Sea, Han Yoon-jae/Song Ji-an, 6k, Explicit.
Post-canon Bad Guys Made Them Do It fic. Four days after the mission to Balhae Station, Han Yoon-jae and Song Ji-an are still in SAA custody. Han Yoon-jae's loyalties are in question, while Song Ji-an's genetic mutation needs to be studied before she can be safely released. Director Choi proposes a test that will serve both purposes.
a fly on the wall, The Radiant Emperor series, General Ouyang/Wang Baoxiang, 2k, M-rated.
“You can go,” Baoxiang said. Ouyang stared at him. He was not the sort to flinch from facing those he hated, or avoid them. And as much as he hated Baoxiang, lately he had developed the habit of wallowing in his miserable company. Baoxiang had developed a complementary habit.
among autumn leaves, Watersnakes, Mila/Agnes, 1k, G-rated.
Post-canon slice of life. Mila still looks at Agnes, maybe with a bit less awe than she used to. Her gaze still hovers on Agnes’s mouth, but she has never asked a second time to touch Agnes’s teeth.
punishment as reward, Zhang Gong Zhu Zai Shang, Yunzhen/Xuanqing, 1k, M-rated.
Gu Xuanqing gets whipped again, but this time he asked for it.
The Importance of Accuracy in Portraiture, Under the Skin, Du Cheng/Shen Yi, 3k, M-rated.
Du Cheng sees a nude portrait Shen Yi painted years ago. It makes him think about some things.
climax and denouement, Smokescreen, Evan/Link, 3k, M-rated.
At the end of Man in a Car, Evan had praised Link's performance only begrudgingly. Link probably thought that was because they’d disagreed so much on Link’s acting choices. In actuality, it was because he’d known one more successful project would not convince Link to work with him on another. They’d made something brilliant together, and now Link was going to ride off into the sunset and never collaborate with him again. He wondered if that was still the case now.
...and that's it!
I wrote a total of 9 fics, roughly 48k words, mostly in November and December. It was a lot of fun! Yuletide prompts finally gave me the impetus to watch The Silent Sea and read She Who Became the Sun and Smokescreen, and I found some other fun prompts for shows I'd already watched as well. Now I need to get back to my noveling after a month or so off lols.

A bias list update. I’ve had some ranking changes, a couple additions, and a couple drop offs.
Still the Ult, Yeo Sang lives on the top
Honestly could be tied for first, MU from Epex has absolutely captured me, mind body and soul
Shin from Ghost9 had no business coming in and rocketing to number 3 over night like he did
Bae Bae (bae Jin Young) was my Wanna One bias and he remains top 5 to this day
Speaking of Wanna One, soft maknae Lee Dae Hwi has become a whole man over here with AB6ix and I am so here for it.
SeoHo from OneUs is the ultimate duality of sexy and hyperactive precious baby squirrel
And last but DEFINITELY not least for current men I go hard for is Steven from Luminous. He is just such a goofy adorable guy that never fails to make laugh in his streams or make me drool on stage

Hwarang Post Ending Thoughts
So after rewatching Hwarang, I've been having these post-ending thoughts. What happens after King Jinheung’s rise to power? Apart from the finale episode scenes, I can’t help but think of extended possibilities. So here it goes in my imagination.
Prince Hwi-kyung is re-acknowledged as a member of the royal family, and his name has been added to the historical memoirs, along with his son Dog-Bird (Moo-Myung). They crown him an official prince as well, making Ah-ro a princess by marriage later on.
That scene where Park Ban-ryu and Kim Soo-yeon were caught by her father needs an extension. I imagine him saying that it’s alright; he’s not expecting anything from her (marriage-wise) because her brother Soo-ho will soon become a prince, and despite what happened to Ban-ryu’s clan, he will eventually become an officer because of his service to the king as a hwarang, so she'll retain her lifestyle as a noble.
Despite the fact that the character who played Soo-yeon (Lee Da-in) is problematic now, I really liked this couple's story on the series, much more than the main leads (because the sibling troupe is eww).
Soo-ho kept brushing off Princess Suk-myung (the king’s sister) before saying she’s nothing like her mother, whom he loved secretly. He used to be such a flirt because his eyes were set on someone he would never reach. His loyalty to the royal family and his overall cool personality earn the princess’ attention. He in turn realizes how the princess is like her mother in many ways and gets attracted to her that way.
But since her personality hasn't changed, she'll always be competing with Ah-ro on life event progress such as engagement, wedding, honeymoon, pregnancy, raising kids, and so on.
I could include the other characters, but these are the only ones I imagined with post-ending scenarios.

A woman loses her phone on her way back to her countryside childhood home. Once there, she connects an old landline in hopes of finding her lost mobile, only to start receiving weird calls that seem to be from 20 years ago.
On the other side of the receiver is a girl who seems to be in danger. The Call is thrilling, sometimes scary, but also brilliantly shot, and its plot is so expertly woven. It’s a proper movie-night movie.
Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood (2022)
Genre: Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Drama, Family, History, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Bill Wise, Brian Villalobos, Buzz Aldrin, David DeLao, Glen Powell, Holt Boggs, Jack Black, Janis Joplin, Jennifer Griffin, Jessica Brynn Cohen, John F. Kennedy, Josh Wiggins, Keslee Blalock, Larry Jack Dotson, Lee Eddy, Milo Coy, Mona Lee Fultz, Neil Armstrong, Nick Stevenson, Richard Nixon, Samuel Davis, Walter Cronkite, Zachary Levi
Director: Richard Linklater
Rating: PG-13
Narrated by the familiar voice of Jack Black, Apollo 10 ½ is a throwback story told with admirable specificity and imagination. Black plays a grown-up Stan, who looks back on his younger years with a mix of fondness and wonder: how did they get away with the things they did then? American suburbia in the 1960s was both loose and conservative, caught between a generation holding on to the reins of the earlier century and one eager to launch into the next.
Stan, as the youngest child of a big, rowdy family, gives us a charming look into the times, as well as a projection of his own fascination: Apollo 11 and the space age. He inserts himself in this monumental narrative and generously brings us along in his fantasy. Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether Stan’s recruitment by NASA is actually fact or fiction, but that’s part of the fun, especially since Stan himself doesn’t seem to mind at all.
They Cloned Tyrone (2023)

Alphonse Nicholson, Jamie Foxx, Jason Burkey, Jason Louder, John Boyega, Joshua Mikel, Kiefer Sutherland, Leon Lamar, Megan Sousa, Ryan Dinning, Shariff Earp, Swift Rice, Tamberla Perry, Teyonah Parris, Trayce Malachi

They Cloned Tyrone is a genre-bending gem. It combines Deep State conspiracy theories with sci-fi and social commentary, all while looking like a futuristic 1970s Blaxploitation film. It’s outrageous good fun and pleasing to look at (here is a film that knows how to properly light Black actors), but there are times when it feels too far fetched. The science can get wonky and its commentary on gentrification lacking, but all is forgiven when you have such a strong trio of leads. One of the smartest things They Cloned Tyrone does is pair Boyega with Teyonah Parris, who plays the call girl Yo-yo, and Jamie Foxx, who plays the pimp Slick Charles. They have a fun-loving no-nonsense chemistry about them that makes them easy to attach to and root for. They’re also just very funny, which might be expected of Foxx but it comes as a pleasant surprise for Parris, whose popular turns in Mad Men and WandaVision prove that she’s been severely underutilized as a comic.
Snowpiercer (2014)
Genre: Action, Drama, Mystery, Science Fiction
Actor: Adnan Haskovic, Alison Pill, Chris Evans, Clark Middleton, Dana Green, Ed Harris, Emma Levie, Ewen Bremner, Go Ah-sung, Griffin Seymour, Jamie Bell, Jim High, John Hurt, Joseph Bertót, Kendrick Roger Ong, Kenny Doughty, Ko A-sung, Ko Asung, Luke Pasqualino, Luna Sophia Bar-Cohen, Magda Weigertová, Marcanthonee Reis, Octavia Spencer, Parry Shen, Paul Lazar, Peter Hallin, Robert Russell, Sean Connor Renwick, Song Kang-ho, Stephen Park, Steve Park, Tilda Swinton, Tomáš Dianiška, Tómas Lemarquis, Tyler John Williams, Vlad Ivanov
Director: Bong Joon-ho

Snowpiercer is an under-the-rader post-apocalyptic thriller that offers the grittiness that many times only Asian cinema may achieve. South Korean director Joon-ho Bong forces audiences to forget that Chris Evans was ever a Marvel superhero, as he leads a revolt of his fellow “low-class” citizens against the self-appointed gentry in a train that contains all remaining members of the planet. With immersive environments and a layered script, this film melds together social commentary and moral discourse in a visually arresting and vastly entertaining package.
Okja (2017)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Ahn Seo-hyun, Ahn Seong-bong, Amber Snow, An Seo Hyun, Andreas Fronk, Ann Evans, Barbara Wallace, Bettina Skye, Boyd Ferguson, Byun Hee-bong, Byun Heebong, Carl Montoya, Cho Wan-ki, Choi Hee-seo, Choi Woo-shik, Colm Hill, Cory Gruter-Andrew, Daniel Henshall, David Bloom, Devon Bostick, Eha Urbsalu, Erik De Boer, Faith Logan, Giancarlo Esposito, Han Yi-jin, J. C. Williams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamar Greene, Kathryn Kirkpatrick, Kim Chul-moo, Kim Moon-hak, Kristoffe Brodeur, Kwak Jin-seok, Kyul Hwi, Lee Bong-ryeon, Lee Jung-eun, Lena Avgust, Lily Collins, Lynn Marocola, Martin Lo Rimorin, Michael D. Director Bong Joon-ho (Snowpiercer) does something quite amazing with the $50 million budget Netflix gave him: he makes a simplistic movie. But man, is it good. Okja tells the story of a “super pig” experiment that sends genetically modified pigs to top farmers around the world. In Korea, a farmer’s granddaughter forms a special relationship with one of these super pigs (Okja). When the company who originally ran the experiment want their pig back (performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton) – the two find an ally in an animal advocacy group led by Jay (Paul Dano). This is a straightforward movie, but nevertheless it is entertaining and full of thought-provoking themes and performances from an excellent cast.

Jelly (Nymph)‘
Fawn begins hitting the member next to her, Jelly, in excitement after finding the teammates she will have.
“Ow! Calm down,” Jelly laughs at the girl next to her holding her arm in pain.
“I’m on a team with THE world wide handsome, what do you mean ‘calm down’!?” Her eyes stay on the screen in disbelief as she continues hitting Jelly, who just laughs in response.
“There are 4 buses waiting outside to take each team to the houses. In a moment, you will be escorted back to your waiting rooms to gather the luggage that your stylists have packed for you and your belongings. If you find any belongings that you believe you would need that haven’t been packed, each of your managers have agreed to bring them to the houses tomorrow if you call them about it.
Toiletries and phone chargers have been provided, so there is no need to call about that and each of the houses are fully furnished. There will be consoles and PCs to play video games on as well, if you would like to use them.
Tonight’s activity will begin when you arrive at the houses, and those that aren’t allowed to completely participate, have been compensated.
Food will be provided before you get on the buses, for those that haven’t eaten yet and the houses are fully stocked with food. A list of snacks and foods that you would like stocked again will need to be made at the end of each week.
That’s all from me, if you’d like to begin making your way to your waiting rooms, the buses will depart in 45 minutes,” Eric begins making his way out of the room after bowing to all of the idols.
***
The 4 buses depart with each of the bands separated into their coordinated teams, each of them excited for the next 4 months.
“We should do something fun while we’re on the bus, not just sit here in silence,” Y/n says to the bus of team 2.
“Let’s do karaoke!” Jimin gets up excitedly to ask the bus driver for the aux cord as another member, Soobin, texts his bandmates to do the same thing on their buses.
“Do you guys have any song requests?” Jimin asks the team from the front of the bus.
“Ring ding dong!” Juyeon yells from his seat beside Heeseung.
Onew cringes at the suggestion and hides his eyes in his hand as he predicts the next 4 minutes of his life to be chaotic.
“Babe!” The lyrics to the song begin to blast through the speakers of the bus. “Negae banhae beorin naegae wae irae.”
Most of the idols stand from their seats dancing along to the choreography of the song.
“Ring ding dong ring ding dong ring digga ding digga ding ding ding!” The idols sing along as they dance to the song.
“Stop dancing like that, you’re going to make the driver crash the bus!” Bang Chan yells to the idols, laughing at the chaos the idols have created.
“He really said ‘ring ding don’t’,” Y/n sighs as they sit back down in their seat beside Onew, who laughs at the comment.
The idols remain in their seats for the rest of the drive, singing along to Jimin’s playlist.
***
“Soobin just said that their bus is doing karaoke,” Beomgyu laughs as he reads the text message sent to his band's group chat.
“Are you reading that out to us because you want to do that too, or because you think it’s funny?”Jelly laughs as she turns around to face the boy.
He ponders for a moment before answering, “Both.”
“Well, go put a good song on and we’ll do it better than them,” Sunwoo says.
“On it,” Suga steals Beomgyu’s opportunity to play the music, plugging his phone into the aux cord at the front of the bus.
Familiar rhythmic drum beats are soon heard playing through the speakers.
“Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover,” everyone sings along to the familiar song, a few dancing along to the choreography in their seats.
“If you have any song requests, just add it to the queue,” Suga states as he walks back to his seat beside RM.
Jelly stands from her seat beside Seungmin and walks to where Suga left his phone open on spotify.
She searches 4 songs and adds them to the queue, ‘Roar’ by The Boyz, which not everyone knows the lyrics to, but vibes to anyways, ‘Guerrilla’ by ATEEZ, which a few of the idols, who are very out of breath by the end of the song, yell along to the lyrics, along with the choreography. The 3rd song from the queue is ‘The Sound’ by Stray Kids, which has a similar reaction from the idols as the first queued song. The final song in the queue makes the idols headbang to the beat, as Jungwon, who is closest to the speakers, raises the volume to ‘Daechwita’ by Agust D.
***
“Do you think they will have soup there?” Ni-Ki asks his hyung, who is sat beside him.
“Maybe, I’m not sure,” Jay replies.
“Ooh, I want some soup too!” Han turns in his seat to face the two that were talking about soup.
“What’s your favourite soup?” Ni-Ki asks the elder in excitement.
“Tomato soup,” Han says confidently.
“And toast, right?” Kevin butts into the conversation from behind Ni-Ki and Jay.
“No, just tomato soup,” Han smiles confidently as he speaks.
“You can’t have tomato soup without toast, are you insane?” Kevin says in an offended tone, as if they had spoken ill of his mother.
***
Upon arrival at each of the houses, the idols find an envelope stuck to the front door, labeled with their designated team name.
The envelopes are taken from the doors and opened by the first people to see them: from team 1; Mingi, from team 2; Bang Chan, from team 3; Key, and from team 4; Jelly, who each read the contents aloud to their teams.
“Once you are each settled into your rooms, which have your band names written on the doors, your first activity will begin.
Tonight's activity is a 4 part activity, however 2 idols will be unable to participate in this activity completely; Ni-Ki (Enhypen — Team 1) and Sungjun (TNX — Team 2).
Your first activity will be to play games together while drunk. We have set out many different alcoholic beverages for you to enjoy, ranging from vodka to rum to beers. There are mixers ready for use if you would like to make your own drinks as well, however any mess you make, you will have to clean. For the 2 underage idols, non alcoholic beverages are provided.
The first part of this activity will be an ice breaker. Much like a 21 questions game, there is a jar of questions that will go around in a circle, and each of you will answer the questions.
The second part of this activity will be the game guess who, where you will be given a celebrity's name that you may ask questions to guess who the celebrity is.
The third part of the activity will be dance charades. The playlist used will be one with every band that is present’s music and the music may be sped up or slowed down, and you must match the choreography with the speed of the music.
The final part of the activity will be a listening game. Songs will overlap and you must decipher which songs are being played together.
All but the first game are drinking games. If you get an answer wrong, you must drink. For the first game, you may drink as much or as little as you would like, and you may play the games in any order you wish.
Have fun.”
“We have to take care of Ni-Ki? My god, it’s like ‘Hello Baby!’ all over again,” Minho says to his team.
“Uh, hyung, I think it will be the other way around. I’m the only one not getting drunk,” Ni-Ki replies, shy with the informality of his words.
“And technically we just have to stop him from doing stupid teenage boy stuff,” Jay laughs.
“Well, I think it would be a good idea for someone to stay sober, or even only tipsy, to help Ni-Ki with anyone that can’t hold their alcohol,” Hongjoong trails off.
“I can, I don’t mind,” J-Hope smiles, volunteering.
Everyone nods, accepting the plans for the night, before Jay walks towards Mingi, with the key to the door in his hand.
Each of the idols from team 1 grab their luggage, heading through the door, through the hallway, to the large white living room before looking over the doors for the rooms with their own band names on it. The wall from the hallway to the living room turns into a marble bench and over it, is the kitchen. Behind the couch, a set of stairs leads to the second floor of the house.
The entrance hallway has one room to the left, with the band name “The Boyz” labeled, with another door opposite it, with no label.
Kevin is the first to walk into the room, choosing to occupy the bed closest to the window, furthest from the door, placing his luggage onto the well made bed.
Sangyeon and Eric walk into the room together, placing their luggage onto the other two beds, Sangyeon taking the bed in the middle of the other two boys.
From the living room, another walkway leads to another door, with ‘Tomorrow by Together’ labeled on it.
“Yeonjun, your room is here,” Jay, the one that found the room, calls to the boy in the living room.
Yeonjun brings his luggage to his designated room, placing it on the end of his bed.
Jungkook is the first idol to walk upstairs, with Han following close behind, after realising none of the doors downstairs has their band names on them.
Looking immediately to the left at the top of the stairs, Jungkook finds his and J-hopes room, calling to him.
Han, however, looks to the right, finding a door labeled ‘TNX’. He calls Taehun, before continuing to look upstairs.
The door beside Taehun’s is unlabeled, and upon opening the door, Han realises that it is a bathroom.
He continues looking, at the door at the end of the hallway, seeing ‘ATEEZ’ labeled on it.
As if it were scripted, Hongjoong and Mingi’s voices are heard as they walk up the stairs.
Realising that he has yet to find his room, Han walks to the hallway on the left side of the stairs, looking to the end of the hallway, where a door sits, labeled ‘Stray Kids’.
Walking back downstairs, he grabs his luggage from where he had left it in the living room and taps I.N on the shoulder, nudging his head in a gesture to say “follow me.”
“Has everyone found their rooms?” J-Hope yells from the door of his room upstairs.
A chorus of yes’s come from the idols, as they begin taking their makeup off and putting their pajamas on.
***
“They decorated this place really well,” Y/n says as they step into the open area of the first floor of the house.
“Okay, let's look for our rooms, get changed, explore a little, and meet in the living room, if we can find it,” Bang Chan says to the idols, who nod in agreement.
The idols are soon scattering, looking for their rooms.
The Boyz found it easy to find their room, it being the first room on the ring when they walked through the front door.
BTS and ATEEZ found their rooms fairly easily, their doors opposite each other in a hallway left of the front door.
Stray Kids and Onew found their rooms perpendicular to each other, in the far corner of the front door, and Heeseung and Soobin found theirs across from Onew’s.
Y/n was the first to go upstairs, quickly finding the large living area. They also find their and TNX’s rooms, calling to the boys who were still downstairs.
***
Upon entering the house, team 3 immediately saw the stairs and a hallway. Jin, taking initiative, walks down the hallway, reading the 4 band names on the doors.
“SHINee, TNX, and Stray Kids, we’re down here, everyone else, i’d assume is upstairs,” He calls to the idols waiting in the foyer, near the stairs.
Upon hearing their band names, the idols walked down the hallway to find their room, with their luggage. The other 9 idols walk up the stairs immediately finding a hallway.
To the left of the hallway, a doorway leads to the living room that has 2 doors leading to rooms, labeled ‘ENHYPEN’ and ‘The Boyz’. The 4 boys make their way to the rooms, as the other idols turn right at the top of the stairs.
Right beside the top of the stairs, a door labeled ‘Tomorrow by Together’ is seen, with another door opposite is labeled ‘ATEEZ’. Beside TxT’s door, another door is labeled ‘Nymph’. Each idol goes to their designated room and begins getting ready for the night, before exploring the house as they wait for their teammates.
***
“Bulleo Bulleo, uri jigum bulleo!” Jelly yells loudly as she holds onto her owl plushie, hugging it tightly to her chest.
Yeosang and San dance along to the choreography as she continues her singing.
“We may not be at our own homes, but we still have neighbours!” RM stresses the last word as he tries to quiet the female.
“Sorry, sorry,” she smiles shyly as she looks at the ground.
“Alright, find your rooms, we’ll meet back here in half an hour and decide what game we should play first,” Taemin instructs the idols from the living room. The members from The Boyz, Ateez, BTS, Nymph and Shinee find their rooms easily, 2 of them going straight from the living room and the other 3 in the hallway from the door to the living room.
The other 4 band members walk up the stairs, easily finding their rooms from the hallway from the stairs.
After half an hour, the members meet again, in their pajamas with their makeup removed, in the living room with alcohol bottles sitting on the coffee table in front of them.
“So should we vote? Which game do you guys want to play first?” RM asks, sitting beside Suga and Beomgyu.
“What if we play the guess who game first, and dance charades last, cause I want to be drunk for that,” Jelly suggests, laughing.
“That makes sense, any other ideas?” RM looks at the other idols.
No one says anything, so Jake stands from his position on the couch to grab the box from under the TV, moving a few of the bottles out of the way, and placing the box on the coffee table.

“Do I have a beard?” Jelly asks, with a photo of JYP on the headband around her head.
“No,” the other idols chorus, laughing at the confused expression on the girl's face. She takes a sip of her drink, cringing as it hits her throat.
“So, I’m a male that owns a company, over the age of 50, but I don’t have a beard? Is there a band that is under my company here?”
“Yes.”
“Who am I?”
“Yes or no questions only,” Jungwon reminds the girl, who in response yells out.
“Who am I? You won’t tell me because I’m Bang Si-Hyuk, right?” She points an accusatory finger at the idols, who laugh at her.
“No, you have to drink now,” Yeosang says to Jelly, smiling at her outrage.
“What? How am I wrong?” She cries to the boys, who continue to laugh at her. She takes the final sip of her drink.
Realising that her drink is now empty, she looks offended, knowing that she lost the round, taking the photo card off the headband, holding it to see who she was.
“Park Jin-young!” She yells, mocking the video of Hyunjin saying JYP’s name ‘in english’, making the two Stray Kids members fall to the floor laughing.
“I can’t believe you’ve done this to me,” Jelly says disappointed, her face harboring a smile contradictory to her words.
Next time on X-Change Project:

Here’s my answer: 🇵🇭
😂 That scene with sungjae’s wife went so fast, most people probably missed the significance. But yeseul cannot invoke self-defense unless she proves that young chang wanted to harm her, by sending that video, so she tried to get the phone from him and accidentally pushed him.
Self-defense is pretty common but it also means that the victim did something bad to justify what yeseul did. Assemblyman Ko will not allow the press to know that his son installed video cameras and threatened to distribute sex videos. Soooo — BAD.
Honestly, I just watch the scenes and stop overthinking on the theories because there are so many possibilities and the writers do not show us everything.
But I am definitely overthinking about solhwi 😉🤡
YAYYYYY NICE TO SEE A FELLOW FILIPINO HERE :DD i rarely get to talk to fellow Filos in my other fandoms here </3
I agree about how that scene went too fast. Honestly, I need more history about Seungjae and his wife because I need to know if my theory is true; his wife is a LMH rape victim, got an abortion at a young age, and had her chances of having a baby in the future be ruined.
I have a feeling that Ye Seul will see the light soon for her to be proven innocent. Self-defense is a difficult argument to prove without the victim's cooperation, and because Ye Seul has been gaslighted, it's really hard for her to discern right from wrong. I feel so bad for her, but I know she'll get through everything. She deserves so much love 🥺
Assemblyman Ko and his son are just despicable. I am so adamant on my theory about him being the killer/mastermind. I do wanna know why Yang wants LMH to choke him so bad though? But given how exaggerated the previews are, I'm curious to see if that scene was actually not as dramatic as we expect it to be.
Theories can get really overboard (especially on Twit, I mean... YIKES). I personally think that identifying parallels from previous episodes by rewatching scenes is more important. In addition, it helps in coming up with a theory that is more likely to happen in the show.
I have to agree on overthinking SolHwi though HAHAHA But in all seriousness... I do believe that something will develop with them, and I don't mean in a clowning way. There are enough hints that show the importance of their relationship and how close it is. I think as SolHwi shippers, what's just best for us is to stick with parallels, facts, and/or foreshadowings from previous episodes to not get overboard about them. Also, I think we have to also be ready over the fact that we might not get what we want from the writers—that doesn't necessarily mean no endgame, but it's best if we lower our expectations since the drama doesn't focus on them.

Tipo che so'...cogliere pinoli.
Mad For Each Other
Back To 1989
Forse."
Senza manco dirlo a lead.
Estraniante a dir poco.
E possiamo parlare dell'amico/ Fratellone?
No?!
XD
