since in my Expedition AU i'm shuffling up the team meet-ups, i'm thinking that pretty much the whole team is assembled before they leave the Tang Empire frontier. in the book, Wukong is acquired in a mountain that stands right at the border, and i'm making him the last one in my au
so i'm thinking it goes Bailong > Sha > Zhu > Wukong
Ao Lie eats Tripitaka's horse when he and his disciples stop by the river to refuel their waterskins. the attack scares and scatters them, leading them to get caught by demons. disciples get eaten, and Ao Lie overhears the whole celebration and investigates, and hearing Tripitaka is next on the menu, he goes "oh i fucked up!". So in he goes to rescue Tripitaka and goes "yeah so i'm your disciple now, so sorry about the horse but uuuh how's this?" and boom horse time;
Sha Wujing is recruited as Ao Lie and Tripitaka struggle through the Gobi desert stretch of the track. Wujing attacks their traveling group, which gets them separated and Ao Lie is desperately running around trying to flee from the massive demon that seems to swim in the dunes like water. Tripitaka almost gets eaten but Ao Lie goes dragon mode and flies them out of reach. Due to heaven's parole terms, he shouldn't be in the skies like that so he almost gets arrested before he argues his case, and the local heavenly soldiers go "oh wait, that demon is meant to be a disciple too, Guan Yin came by to tell us, just call him by his byname." boom, Sha acquired and he leads them to an oasis to recover and continue the trip;
Zhu Bajie gets found after the group has to, head closer to the Northern Tibet range to get their bearings again and, another travel group. Safety in numbers and all, even if they now have a massive demon and a horse dragon tagging along. They find the Gao Village and overhear the troubles along the streets, and when they get some lodging, good old Elder asks for Tripitaka to try his hand at exorcising the demon. Bailong and Wujing tag along just in case. It ends up with a long debacle and lots of praying from Tripitaka, Ao Lie causes a minor flood to get Ganglie to show up and fix the ruined fields, a bit of fighting is had, Wujing and Ganglie get into a little eating bet for him to sign the annulment papers which Gao has a little cry about, a bit more fighting, then they figure out he was recruited by Guan Yin as well, and boom mister Zhu Wuneng is acquired;
Aaaaand for our beloved Sun Wukong, things go rather as usual, the group is tracking along when they get pounced by a tiger. The group makes quick work of it cus of course, which ends up being a hunter's mark and after a small talk, they receive lodging from Boquin. Wujing praises his leatherwork and Bajie bemoans not being able to have a taste of their host's lovely cooking. At night, Boquin overhears the disciples speaking about Tripitaka's need for fake papers after they are outside of the country and their attempts to fake some themselves. He intends to confront them in the morning, but Tripitaka pacifies the father's ghost after prayers and Boquin is now indebted to them, so he promises to lead them to a secret hunter's path so the border sentries won't spot them. The path goes through Five Phases Mountain which no one but the locals dare to tread, which finding and releasing Wukong goes about by the book, with some added horror stories about the Great Sage who wreaked havoc in Heaven centuries past, and the disciples' very reasonable concern and fear of being near such a being, much less have him tag along.

Long involved WoL BJD project update:
Order custom 3D printed head
Order body
Order Eyes
Buy safety goggles and new mask filters because
Uh oh! eyes don't fit in head so I need to sand out the eyewells to make them fit.
Buy RIT (or similar) dye because my boy is not that pale
Dye body parts
Possibly paint or pastel dye head (3D printed resin doesn't like being boiled apparently)
Faceup time! (The actually fun part! Buy more MSC if my current stock is expired)
buy synthetic fiber for wig making
Make wig with lace front and sides, possibly entirely ventilated (???) (thank god I already know how to do this and have most of the tools) - this will take a long time v.v
Make tail (??? How do? I have an idea but we'll see if it works???) and install with magnets.
Make or commission his main glams (learn just enough about leatherworking or figure something out using craft foam for parts)
Current goal is to have him finished by mid April of 2025.

Hiii 👋‼️ Eos is so cute ;0; Inwanted to ask!
What her favorite thing about Kan-E-Senna is and, what her happiest memory is OvO 💐
WAAAAAAAH 🥺🥺🥺 thank you,,,
Well. How do i describe that. Eos loves Kan-E's... presence? Eos is an exile who's struggled finding a new place that feels... safe. She's a steppe nomad so saying she was looking for a new "home" is not quite correct stricto sensu but you know how home means family/friends/safety? Yeah.
So. Kan-E is there. She's a stout presence. She does not leave gridania. She is quiet and warm and (imo. Anti-Gridania crowd don't come for me) very welcoming as opposed to other gridanians. Eos is a restless adventurer always on the road who is too sad to feel she belongs anywhere. Kan-E HAS to stay in gridania as a leader and can't see the world even if she wants to. So their relationship starts with a common - although half tacit - desire to complete the other: eos recalls her adventures to kan-e so she can see the world from gridania (and that helps eos seeing beauty in everything) ; kan-e is now eos' home, she's ever present and stable, the place to return to eos longed for. Gridania by its very... immutable nature becomes a fixed point in eos' life. The racist place was turned into a lovely and loving home and i think that's beautiful.
As for her favorite memory... probably spending time with the gridanian kids at large. Ennion the baby leatherworker. Showing him new techniques. Sylphie and Gatty. Especially Gatty - in my head Eos spent a lot of time helping Sanche before she died and so kinda sees herself as the kid's parental figure.

🩷 Have they ever been in love?
‼️Something about the fanbot you want everyone to know.
🦓 What’s their favorite animal?
(It can be for both or specifically one of them. I just like your writing. :] )
aww thank you 😭😭 that's so nice to hear!
🩷 - have they ever been in love?
Janka thinks she might have been, although all she knows about love she leant from songs, so she's not really sure if it was that. but she did think kindly of Mirka and she misses her terribly, just like all romantic songs described love should feel like, so that must be it, right?
Giewont didn't really care for 'romantic' kind of love, but they care about people close to them. the elderly bookbinder was like a father to them, being the first person to treat them like a person and teach them about the world. she also loves her friends and animals (which mainly manifests as being afraid for their safety) so in a way, she's in love all the time :]
‼️ - something about the fanbot you want everyone to know
hmmm that's a tough one. like when they ask you to share 3 fun facts about yourself and your mind goes blank, so i will just share some random information.
since Janka's words depend on records she played, learning different languages just means playing foreign music. right now she can communicate in polish, english and a bit of french, but she'd love to know as many languages as possible (she's getting to it)
after her departure from the farm, Giewont worked in many different places and had different jobs. their favourite, not counting the bookbinder one, was with a leatherworker, as leather wasn't so fragile in her grasp as other, more breakable materials
🦓 - what's their favourite animal?
Janka really loves rats! after spending a chunk of her life with them, she regards them as curious, intelligent creatures. their squeaks were like melody to her, and she didn't really mind them scratching a bit of the paint off her table
Giewont likes cows and other farm animals, as they remind her of a simpler time, but their favourites are sheep. she loves them for their fuzzy, protective wool (which means she could pet them without being worried of skinning them alive) and their eyes full of trust

O-ring on the front is a quick release for safety and because its homemade I made it custom sized so it fits me perfectly, I often find chokers too loose or too tight so it's very exciting to have a functional one!

LWJ Cosplay Log - Master Post
Tumblr media
Making Lan Wangji
(AKA My Lan Zhan Cosplay Log)
This went from a historical project to cosplaying all the Hanguang-Jun, Lan Wangji in existence!  The main concept is Lan Wangji’s (LWJ) novel/manhua/audio drama design.  As the project started pre-pandemic, I didn’t consider the butler or dragon au in the design.  That would be too much.  There is a dash of videogame in him since there were some details I liked in that model.  If the title is “Mo Dao Zu Shi” then I have incorporated Lan Wangji’s description and concept arts into my design.
Lan Wangji as known in The Untamed was generally avoided save for a tiny nod to the show’s Gusu Lan Clan.  “Mo Dao Zu Shi” Wangji and “Untamed” Wangji are distinct in my opinion.  Neither is superior from the other, just different enough that I need to pick one interpretation to play with.  The actors of Untamed, especially Xiao Zhan, really claimed the characters as their own and portrayed them wonderfully.  Wang Yibo’s Wangji is his Wangji, I won’t interfere that.  If you want to see that interpretation of Lan Wangji, then go watch the show.  It already exists.
A few caveats before you dive in:
1)     I am not a seamstress or tailor so I don’t know all the proper sewing terminology in English or any other language 2)     Also, modern romanization of Chinese confuses the shit out of me, a native speaker, so apologies for any spelling mistakes.  The Yale Romanization made so much more sense but then China thought they understood the English alphabet better than native English speakers so here we are.  Do as the Romans do, I guess. 3)     I am not a historical costumer either so all my info come from conjecture and research 4)     I am not a Chinese historian but I like to think I know enough about my history and culture through osmosis and the hell-hole disguised as Chinese school to talk about it 5)     I am not trying to make an authentic historical costume, I’m trying to make an anachronistic fantasy costume. Historicity went out the window the minute LWJ and every adult character decided to have their hair down.  I did try to make a semi-historically accurate version?  Depended on the mood at time of construction. 6)     I suck at being Chinese apparently so that will be my safety net if everything fails horribly :P
The Lan Zhan Cosplay Log Layer 1:  Undergarments! Layer 0:  Hair, Props, “Cheating,” & Overall Stats

A few things about Dusklain, because its my OC and my Blog I can do whatever I want :3c
Dusklain had slightly-above-average exposure to Gaius. While she was hardly exceptional among her contingent, she did end up helping Allie, the youngest of Gaius' adoptive children for a time.
Because of this exposure, Gaius did recognize Dusk at the Praetorium, though couldn't meaningfully place her at the time. By his appearance as Shadowhunter, however, he had remembered.
Dusk was also deeply invested in the Shadows of Werlyt campaign.
Dusk didn't originally plan on working her way up the ranks as a member of the godsbow; her first choice would have been to join the Conjurers' Guild after securing her place in Gridania.
The reason she didn't do this is because her ability to manipulate aether was still sorely lacking. She spent a good deal of time working with E-Yumi-San, but as with her failed training as a Geomancer among her people, it proved fruitless. Some block existed that she was unprepared to topple.
A major breakthrough occurs during her training as a proper Bard. The techniques of "spinning" aether become the basis by which she learns all other disciplines.
Dusk worked closely with Yll Fen before learning the trade (one of two canon crafting skills she has learned). Her work within the guild is partly responsible for the philosophies that carry her through the story.
She is a seasoned leatherworker and tradeswoman before she departs Gridania, though her ability to comfortably cook had not yet been restored.
Prior to the Sundering (and, in the version of events where it occurs, before she took the seat of Azem) Dusk was an Amaurotine Ranger, maintaining the safety of travelways and playing diplomat and guardian where necessary. Hints of these experiences linger in the Dusklain of the eighth astral era, and manifest particularly in her atypically acrobatic methods in combat.
Dusklain uses two unique techniques within the discipline of the Gunbreaker: A battery of explosions she deemed "Oni's Teeth", and a method of shedding a barrier of aether off her body to take blows in her stead (not unlike the Pokemon move "Substitute").
There are two "breakpoints" in Dusk's story: If the ancient Dusklain was takes the seat of Azem, and (in the timeline where she never did) how she responds to the events in Azys Lla. The contrasting storyline sees her adopt a portion of Sephirot's power, and departs between Heavensward and Stormblood to reclaim her homeland (The Warlord version of events). In all versions of events she possesses the Traveler's Ward, though from whence it came differs.
Dusklain canonically heard the song "Answers", and in fact is the advent which prompted her to break from Conscription and flee to Eorzea.

It's almost 2am and I can't sleep so maybe I'll write about my WoL.
Ryune (named M'rune at the time) grew up in the Fringes as part of the M Tribe not too far from the Peering Stones. She had three siblings, all older, and both parents were in her life. She was very young when Garlemald came. She lost her two older sisters when they went off to fight. Her first home was gone.
Most who survived ended up congregating at the Peering Stones for safety, but when her brother didn't come back from foraging, her mother went out to find him. They were later both found dead with a large amount of dead Garlean Soldier around. Fearing for their safety and completely devastated by it all, her father took her away, hoping to find solace deeper within Eorzea. Her second home was fled.
They had a rough time traveling through Shroud, but ended up being directed to Little Ala Mhigo once being rather unceremoniously ousted by a Serpent patrol. They were welcomed warmly enough at the time and were selected to make themselves useful. Ryune picked up leatherworking and helped on local patrols since the Brass Blades certainly weren't there to help them. Late into her teens, full of angst and hats towards Garlemald and what they had done to her family and people, then ended up I'm a lot of trouble. A local Ul'dahn youth had made a makeshift armor set to look garlean and was making fun of the refugees in the middle of the settlement as some cruel joke. Ryune snapped, and the boy was dead moments later. She fled South to the desert to evade the Blades, leaving her father and her second home behind.
She was found, exhausted, dirty, and dehydrated in the sands by an U Tribe hunting party and brought to their settlement. She told them what had transpired, expecting them to take her back or cast her out, but instead, she found them opening their home to her. Only a few days later, she spotted her father in the desert searching for her and brought him back. She told him she intended to stay and was going by the name U'ryen, at least for now. He agreed it would be for the best and that he was overjoyed that she was okay. He told her that he would now go to Limsa to lay low and make coin, but after he left, the only news she got was that he and the ship he had served on had been subsumed by the sea. Now 20 and finding herself quite restless, she packed her things and said her goodbyes, changing her hair and clothing and name to Ryune to better blend in as a common adventurer, and hopped on a trading cart for Ul'dah, unsure of what she might find, thus leaving her 4th home behind.
She made her home at the Shifting Snads for a while until the betrayal of the monetarists, forcing her from her 5th home. By the time she got settled in Coerthas with Alhpinaud and Tataru, she was fairly determined to not be cast out of her 6th home.
The Dragonsong War concluded. Ryune was called to the East where she would meet M'naago, a girl she had befriended as a child, and they would end up forming a relationship. This ended with her calling Gyr Abania her 7th home, and when it ended up in ruins by the hand of Zenos it was all anyone could do to stop her from getting herself killed by throwing herself at him.
At this point the concept of home had become more of a burden than a place ot rest, and so she sold her things she had in Courthas and stopped having a room at the Shifting Sands to go to. Knowing what it was like to lose her own, though. Made her that much more determined to get it back for others.
Being yanked into the First did not help this mindset. She never felt at rest here until the end of that story, and even then, she was wary of becoming too comfortable. Around this time, though, she began feeling something else, that perhaps her home was not a place but rather the people she trusted. She ended up spending a lot more time in the reconstructed Gyr Abania and with M'naago during this time as well as a company of amicable individuals she could call upon.
When the towers appeared, she was actually fearful. They, and the end of days, were a threat to her peace and to the people she cared about on an existential level, meaning the new concept of home she had was pretty much directly under attack. It pushed her to new heights but also gave her a new understanding. Knowing the truth about the Garleans, she now no longer hated them and instead saw them as victims. This was especially true upon seeing the devastation that had taken place in Garlemald, taking her back to her memories of her own small village in the Fringes in smoldering ruin.
At the conclusion of the events of Endwalker, she has her hands in every reconstruction effort she could get herself into. Her personal experiences in losing her home make her determined to help set things right, though she knows she can't truly replace what was lost. This was very fulfilling work and let her spend a lot of time with M'naago due to her experience in such endeavors and also having the time to enjoy her company in general.
But, natually, adventure always calls, and Ryune finds herself traveling all over the world, helping those in need.
Maybe I'll sleep now, that was nice to write about. I should go more in-depth with some of it sometime.

It is that time of the day where I'm not necessarily delirious but am impulsively hyper, so random fun facts about me
I was actually raised around a lot of leatherworkers and armor/weapon makers due to SCA stuff. A good chunk of them were fighters, wearing metal armor but using these weapons called boffers because safety and shit.
Favorite story: I once saw a guy nearly loose his ear because of a shitty helmet, which makes me tempted to give characters scars behind their ears XD

I have the incurable 'must try every craft hobby and spend way too much money on supplies' disease, so I do a lot of crafting. My biggest one is epoxy resin, but I have to work in the garage (for safety) and in the winter months it's physically too cold for resin to cure correctly. So I also picked up a jewellery making (wire wrapping and finishing mostly, but it means I can make resin beads to use in my own designs), polymer clay (can make my own inclusions or finishing details), paper craft (if sealed, can also be used in resin), pyrography (mostly for its own sake but I do plan on using some resin elements on future pieces), wool felting (stabbing things is good stress relief and it's kinda magic to create things out of stabbing, honestly), needlepunch (see previous point about stabbing), a little leatherwork (I wanted to create a handbag out of some resin panels) and I've just picked up a few crochet needles and yarn.
My grandmother paints so I often dabble in that, too (acrylic ink watered down actually makes a pretty nice wood stain for small projects) and my mother got into lampwork (glass-making on a small torch, suitable for small objects like beads) which I've also done a bit of...which ties back into the jewellery making!
The thing is, I like learning new things and trying different crafts and it's crazy how much different crafts complement each other. Things I learnt in glasswork are applicable to polymer clay (like making patterned canes).
They also make me a better writer, I think. There's a lot of thinking time in most projects, so you can let your current ideas percolate, but also you get experience of different potential hobbies that characters may have and being able to draw from that lived experience makes your description so much richer.
genuine question for writers: what are your non-words hobbies? (i.e. not reading)

Metal Stamps: A Guide to Crafting and Industrial Use
Metal stamps have been a vital tool in both crafting and industrial applications for centuries. Whether you're a hobbyist creating personalized jewelry or a manufacturer marking products with serial numbers, metal stamps are essential for adding permanent, precise imprints on metal surfaces. In this article, we will explore the different types of metal stamps, their uses, and tips for working with them.
What Are Metal Stamps?
Metal stamps are tools designed to create impressions or marks on metal surfaces. These stamps typically feature a raised design, symbol, or text that transfers onto the metal when struck with a hammer or press. The result is a permanent, embossed mark that can be used for identification, decoration, or branding.
Metal stamps are made from durable materials such as hardened steel, which allows them to withstand repeated use on tough metal surfaces. They come in a variety of designs, from letters and numbers to custom logos and intricate patterns.
Types of Metal Stamps
Metal stamps can be classified based on their usage, such as crafting stamps and industrial stamps.
a. Crafting Stamps
Crafting stamps are primarily used in jewelry making, leatherwork, and other creative fields. These stamps are smaller and feature designs like letters, numbers, shapes, and symbols. They allow artisans to personalize their creations by stamping initials, dates, or decorative patterns onto metal surfaces like copper, brass, or sterling silver.
Commonly used in hand-stamping, these stamps allow crafters to make custom designs, which adds value to handmade items. Popular projects that use crafting metal stamps include:
Custom name necklaces
Stamped bracelets with meaningful quotes
Decorative charms for keychains and bags
b. Industrial Stamps
Industrial stamps are used in manufacturing to mark products with important information, such as serial numbers, logos, or safety ratings. These stamps are larger and more robust, built to handle high-pressure applications and harder metals, such as steel or aluminum.
Manufacturers often use metal stamps for branding or quality control, ensuring that their products are traceable and meet industry standards. Examples of industrial applications include:
Marking metal parts with serial or batch numbers
Stamping logos on machine components
Imprinting safety certifications on tools and equipment
How to Use Metal Stamps
Using metal stamps requires some practice and the right tools. Whether you're stamping for a craft project or in an industrial setting, here are some essential steps:
Prepare the Metal Surface: Ensure the surface is clean and free from debris. For best results, work on a flat and sturdy surface.
Position the Stamp: Align the metal stamp carefully on the metal surface where you want the imprint to be.
Strike with a Hammer: Use a heavy hammer or mallet to strike the back of the stamp. In crafting, this may require a single, firm hit, while in industrial settings, mechanical presses may be used for higher precision and consistency.
Check the Imprint: After stamping, check the imprint to ensure it is clear and visible. In crafting, you can darken the stamp impression with ink or oxidizing agents to make it stand out.
Tips for Using Metal Stamps
Choose the Right Metal: Softer metals like copper, brass, or aluminum are easier to stamp, making them ideal for beginners or jewelry makers.
Practice Before Stamping: Always test your stamp on a scrap piece of metal before stamping on the final piece. This helps you get a feel for the pressure needed.
Use a Stamping Jig: For industrial applications or larger projects, use a stamping jig or guide to keep stamps aligned and consistent.
Conclusion
Metal stamps are versatile tools used across many fields, from crafting personalized jewelry to marking products in industrial settings. Whether you’re creating art or ensuring product traceability, understanding how to use metal stamps effectively can enhance both your craft and your workflow. With the right tools, materials, and techniques, you can make professional-grade imprints that last a lifetime.

Why Bulk Leather Hides are Essential for Quality Leather Products
Leather has long been a symbol of luxury and durability, valued for its versatility and aesthetic appeal. Among the various forms of leather available,  leather hides offer significant advantages for artisans, manufacturers, and designers. This article delves into the importance, uses, and benefits of bulk leather , provides guidance on purchasing considerations, and highlights where to find these valuable materials.
Tumblr media
These are the raw, uncut pieces of leather sourced directly from animals such as cows, buffaloes, and elk. These hides are typically purchased in large quantities, making them a cost-effective option for businesses and individuals involved in leatherworking. By buying in bulk, one can access a wider variety of hides, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality material for various projects.
The market for bulk leather hides is vast, with suppliers offering hides in different grades, colors, and finishes. This variety allows for greater creative freedom and the ability to meet specific customer demands. Whether you are crafting bespoke leather goods, producing large-scale commercial products, or simply experimenting with leatherworking as a hobby, these leather hides provide the foundation for superior results.
Importance of Bulk Leather Hides
These leather hides play a crucial role in the leather industry due to their cost-effectiveness and availability. Purchasing hides in bulk allows manufacturers and craftsmen to reduce costs, as buying in larger quantities typically comes with a discount. This cost efficiency can be passed on to customers or reinvested into other areas of production, leading to better overall business performance.
Moreover, bulk leather  ensure a consistent supply of raw material. This is particularly important for businesses with high production demands or those that require a specific type of leather for their products. Consistency in quality and availability helps maintain production schedules and meet customer expectations without interruption.
Another significant aspect of bulk leather is the opportunity for customization. Since these hides are often uncut and untreated, they offer a blank canvas for tanneries and craftsmen to apply their unique finishing techniques. This flexibility allows for the creation of bespoke products tailored to specific design requirements, enhancing the value and appeal of the final leather goods.
Uses of Bulk Leather Hides
The uses of bulk leather  are extensive, spanning various industries and applications. In the fashion industry, leather hides are transformed into clothing, accessories, and footwear. High-quality leather jackets, belts, wallets, and handbags are just a few examples of items crafted from bulk. The durability and timeless appeal of leather make these products highly desirable among consumers.
In the furniture industry, leather hides are used to upholster sofas, chairs, and other furnishings. The luxurious feel and aesthetic appeal of leather upholstery add a touch of sophistication to any living space. Considerations When Buying Bulk Leather Hides
When purchasing bulk leather hides, there are several important factors to consider to ensure you get the best quality product. First, evaluate the thickness and weight of the leather. The thickness should be appropriate for the intended use, with thicker hides being suitable for heavy-duty applications and thinner hides for more delicate items.
Next, examine the grain pattern and texture. Authentic leather will have a natural, uneven grain with distinct markings and scars. Avoid leather that looks too uniform or smooth, as this may indicate lower quality or heavily processed hides. It's also crucial to consider the source of the leather, opting for suppliers who prioritize ethical sourcing and sustainable practices.
Additionally, pay attention to the finishing techniques used on the leather. Some hides may be treated with chemicals to enhance their appearance or durability, while others may be left in a more natural state. Understanding the finishing process can help you choose leather hides that meet your specific needs and preferences.
