Can Tulip speak? I love her (and Kian and his dads!) Love the AU and your art!

Tulip can't speak vocally (her noises are mostly croaking/squeaking/screaming etc. Your normal assorted amphibian noises) but she and Kian (and subsequently Hob) are learning how to sign! It's both very endearing and mildly alarming and made only marginally more difficult by the fact that Tulip doesn't have an actual chin. 💕

Ough thinking about the grownup Look Outside kids again. My one william headcanons are going nuts right now.

In my au and technically a headcanon is that Joel's curse gets worse over time, like it spreads more. And because of that it becomes more difficult for him to speak since he has a bunch of new teeth growing inside his throat. Like he can still speak but it's crazy painful for him. So he learns sign language just so he can get by. Like do you see where I'm coming from with this?

An episode almost entirely in sign language would've been so cool, especially since the Doctor can't be too keen to use his voice with the entity after last time, but I guess it couldn't have worked in practice

Am too lazy but idk I feel like the little child would learn sign language but the only things is just “you’re welcome/thanks” so the tv wouldn’t even understand

AWWWW YES I WAS THINKING OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR TELLY!!!! I remember when I was younger there was a kids show that taught kids basic sign language, so I wouldn't put it past Telly to just watch shows like that and learn sign language from them! It's something they'd probably focus on later on in life so they don't use it a lot as a kid, they're getting by just fine as is, they can always write stuff down if it's really important and they can't express it by wildly gesturing lol.

They already have to have subtitles on for everything since their speaked doesn't work, I can just imagine seeing them lying on the floor in silence with a movie or something playing on their screen, must be the life. Also they'd forget you have to have other people around you know sign language too in order for them to understand what you're saying.

learning sign language (or any language for that matter) for your partner is such an experience because after i could spell both our names, the first thing i wanted to learn was "i love you."

i keep randomly practicing it, "i love you, i love you, i love you." this massive grin just shows up on my face whenever I do. it makes me so, so happy. and I can't wait for it to make him happy, too.
