Time to complete the cycle! In games where I have two rivals that can be named, I usually name the third character Elgleef, which is a combination of Bayleef and Elgyem! It's to be the grass and psychic-type to Crocfoo's water and fighting-type (Croconaw + Mienfoo), and I'm strong against both of Elgleef's types (Zorquil = Quilava + Zorua) being fire and dark-type! When drawing Elgleef's design, I found it difficult to figure out how to make it more appealing to me, and I found myself kinda mimicking the style of Gimmighoul... and a bit of Elmer, the dragon from "My Father's Dragon". I want to make her neck longer, but I am struggling to get it looking right.

So, Elgleef was a character I was figuring out personality-wise as well. I was debating whether to make her outwardly soft or if I wanted to try another personality. I ended up making her more of a cold and serious character with a passion for chemistry/alchemy. She rarely shows a smile, and is more oblivious to social things, such as Crocfoo's crush on her. Also, don't get in the way of her work.

This one was a lot of fun drawing out! I made the leaf on her head like this to represent the "Y" on Elgyem's head, then gave two of Bayleef's neck leaves to represent the curves around the Y. The curved lines around her arms, neck, legs, tail, and belly were just taken from Elgyem, though I added a few more to make the design better. She also has Elgyem's hands and... "fingers"? I guess? I made it so vines can shoot out of them, but also be a source of psychic energy. And then both have a small tail, so she just gets a smol tail! Then I gave her the feet of Bayleef.

To be honest, I had the struggle designing her with Bayleef qualities and had more fun putting in Elgyem stuff. Which is ironic, since I have the opposite problem where I had trouble putting in Zorua qualities onto Quilava. :> Can't wait to see what colors Elgleef will have!

Chapter 29- Part 10

I think Glare is able to outspeed, if I recall? So she should be able to get Glare™ off-

STOP!!!

I need Glare to Acid Spray too, so let's bring in Bloom like before-

I've got a good amount of Revives from mining, let's use one right now, I don't need Glare at full HP necessarily-

And now Glare can get an Acid Spray off, here goes-

These crits aren't even necessary, I'm pretty sure Darkest Lariat still kills Glare at the HP she was at, right? Well, no matter, let's just bring in Riptide for the main event-

Let's see what Water Gun does here!

NICE TRY, BUT RIPTIDE LIVES THAT! And now I know he outspeeds thanks to the Paralysis, so a second Water Gun should-

POWER OF TEAMWORK, BABY!! Now it's Gallade, okay. Time to do what was intended and send in Prong!

This time, the double Bug Buzzes should work out in our favor.

It- It Swords Danced again!? Why!? Shoot, I- well, it's not in Psychic Terrain this time, so maybe Prong can still barely live as long as-

I…do I need to use my Max Revive here?

Well, hold up, let's switch to Riptide first to regular Revive Glare-

Now we go and send her out for the Intimidate-

Sac Kirin this time, it's okay, I'll Revive her for the Mienfoo-

And with one last switch…

Okay, its Attack is low now! But it healed all the way back up thanks to the stupid Shell Bell- whose idea was this!? Why does the Ashen Beach make it so Shell Bells heal by so much more!? Why would anyone do that!?

Regardless! Max Revive on Prong while Glare goes down-

So, instead of using Bug Buzz right away, I'm going to use Charge Beam in the hopes of getting the Sp. Attack boost so Bug Buzz will do more. But if that doesn't work, Bug Buzz should still be able to do big damage, maybe even kill.

OH NO IT'S NOT-

Okay! That's good! Now as long as Prong doesn't get crit again, Bug Buzz should-

BUG BUZZ DIDN'T KILL?? Oh but it gets the Sp. Defense drop when it doesn't matter anymore! And I forgot Bug Buzz could do that because IT NEVER ACTIVATES FOR ME!!

And here I thought the Incineroar was the biggest threat in this fight- compared to before, I dealt with the Gallade relatively okay-ish. But that was because it didn't set up Swords Dance in that first fight! Why didn't it use Swords Dance that first time, and why is it fine with using it now? I have a way to deal with every member of Victoria's team except the Gallade, clearly my Prong plan isn't working…

From these three fights, I know Gallade's moveset is: Swords Dance, Psycho Cut, Night Slash, and Leaf Blade (and all those damaging moves have increased crit ratios because of course they do, as if I don't get enough crits with Incineroar), so I need a Pokémon that can resist those moves, even if they crit. I also know Gallade's weaknesses are Flying, Ghost, and Fairy. Ghost-types are out of the question because of Night Slash, and I'm hesitant to use Flying-types because I don't know if I have any that can both outspeed to do damage (or use a special Flying move to mess with Gallade's Accuracy) and have enough Defense or resistances to survive Gallade's hard-hitting attacks. 

So that leaves Fairy as my best option. Do I have any Fairy-types that give me what I need…? Outspeed, bulk, resistances, a combination of all three…wait a second. That's right! I have a piece of cotton!

Gust, the Cottonee I hatched from that Egg I got from the Growlithe Egg thing! Her Ability is Chlorophyll right now, but if I use an Ability Capsule, I can change that to Prankster, which will give any status moves of hers priority over Gallade! And she resists Leaf Blade and Night Slash! And I have like three Sun Stones, I can easily evolve her into Whimsicott! Lemme see, did she get any cool Egg moves like a lot of these event encounters? I know Cottonee can get some really wild-

Huh?? Nothing?? No Encore or Misty Terrain…? Uh…well, that's okay, Charm and Cotton Guard should do the job well once she levels up enough to get those. 

So, I'll swap out Prong for Gust and change her Ability-

And with that, it's time to do some training!

I had to go with a Fighting type, but specifically one that was more elegant than brawny. Originally I was gonna draw Mienfoo but that was weirdly really hard to draw? So I thought I’d draw her as Hisuian Liligant, because… idk she looks like she has roller skates with her feet kinda. That was still kinda a hassle though! So unfortunately I didn’t want to get to the trouble of coloring… I do like how goofy the leaf glove is, though!

A Honchcrow, because it’s wearing a hat and looks fancy as fuck. That’s just Maxi in a nutshell. We’ve also got Zoroark and Chandelure. Not the most Pokémon, but they’re both strong and kinda menacing so like it works

Hepzibah

Ampharos, a Pokémon that’s know for shedding light. She also has an Absol, a Kirlia, and Accelgor, all Pokémon capable of learning double team. You know, since she’s studying illusions and stuff? It’s pretty obvious

Ethere

Gourgeist, a Pokémon that is known for dragging people into the afterlife, while also having a pretty spooky atmosphere? Yeah that’s Ethere. She’s also got Mansibuzz and Banette, which gives her a team of goths

Lovi

Idk why, but Leavanny just feels right for her. A Pokémon that’s very motherly feels fitting for our collective mom. There’s also a Stoutland (Big doggo), a Deerling, an Alolan Vulpix and a Dusknoir

Honestly, it’s a ghost tree. Like Trevenant is perfect for her. She’s also got a Noibat, a Torterra and a Pumpkaboo

Smug leaf boy. A Sceptile, since it could blend into the woods, with the addition of a Metagross because big, strong and bulky that could also be used as a transport

Listen, I don’t know why Thwackey. It’s just kind of a feeling. Plus, my man was out on the sea for half a year, he probs want something that’s strong against water types. Elias also got himself a Mienfoo and an alolan Marowak

Sture

This guy would use a fucking frog, so Frogadier it is. We’ve also got Galarian Slowbro, Rhyhorn and Monferno, just because, idk.

Why is Buneary almost obvious. Like the minute I thought Jim I thought Buneary. He just kinda reminds me of a Rabbit idk. He’s also got Lillipup, Wooper and Politoad. My man accidentally got the weakest team, but it’s what he deserves.

It’s a Pokémon who can literally see into the future. Like, bruh. There’s also Espurr, Spoink, and Galar Ponyta. Again, not the strongest team, but let’s be real here who would Lolita battle

Back from Comic Con! For my third time I’m enjoying it more and more! It gets better every time in my opinion! Just like May I went as Seto Kaiba - now with a wig to better mimic his hair!

There was so much to do this time round; lots of famous people, video game demos, the Yu-Gi-Oh YCS tournament (of which a friend participated in) ... I didn’t get to do it all but I had such fun!

Me and my best friend got interviewed for the tournament and we had tokens made with photos taken of us! There was no Kaiba template for me to pick, but there was a Yami Yugi one so ... guess who’s got herself a Prideshipping Token? ;D

So ... many ... cosplayers ... I saw a casual Callie, a professional cosplayer (as the Mighty Morphin’ Yellow Ranger this time!) and I reunited with a person who was Kisara in May again! And that’s only a few examples of who I saw ...

Lots of signatures this time too; way more than I usually get! Veronica Taylor is so sweet; it was a pleasure to meet her! I’d post a photo of what she signed for me, but it has my name on it so ...yeah. Unexpectedly, I also met Wayne Grayson and Jonathan Todd Ross - that’s right, the VAs of Joey Wheeler and Marik Ishtar/ Yami Marik! I found out they were going to be there the night before, so I had to find something for them to sign. In the end it was Scapeghost (I has no Scapegoats) and The Winged Dragon of Ra!

Both of them are so friendly so if you ever get the chance to meet them, take it! You won’t regret it!

Also unexpectedly, another Comic Con exclusive mat! This time Yami Marik and Joey are on it in their Duel Links artwork!

There was also a Duel Links mat for those who won 6 Duels or something like that, but I didn’t have time to do that. There was also the advent calendar on sale, but there was only one left for display purposes. 

Update on my Kaiba plushie search; no luck. To make matters worse, my best friend found and bought one of the final two Yami Yugi plushies! Argh! Why can’t I find that Kaiba plushie ANYWHERE?! I KNOW it exists!!!

... ok. Let’s move onto happier things. I may not have the Kaiba plushie, but I did find something else I’ve been hunting for!

Oh yeah! Capsule Monster Coliseum is finally mine! I’ve been hunting for this game in my local game trade shops for a couple of months now with no luck. But now I have a copy! I’ve wanted this game ‘cause it has FULL VOICE ACTING! That’s a huge tick in ‘video game attributes that I like’; plus now I can learn how to play Mokie’s favourite game!

I found my favourite stall in the last fifteen minutes and found some more Yu-Gi-Oh figures! In May I honestly thought the Yugi Jump Festa figure I bought was the only one of its kind. Nope! I found Yami and Kaiba just waiting to be picked up!

THIS ... is probably my fav purchase of this con. An adorable Mokuba figure!!! If I’m correct this is a One Coin Mini Figure by Kotobukiya and I know these little guys can fetch a hefty price; this one was £13. 

Short story is ... now I have two things to look out for. A Kaiba plushie and a Kaiba One Coin Mini Figure. 

Had to get a Sandshrew to go with my Sandslash. Even though one is from Kanto, the other Alola. I love Sandshrew and Sandslash!

I think this Bounsweet and Pikachu pack will make a great addition to Yami and Kaiba’s flat - whenever I get round to actually making the set! I totally want to pose Yami with Pikachu on his back.

Finally I picked up these Pokemon-related figures. The Treecko keychain is the only colour-accurate thing here lol! The top figures (Treecko, Haxorus and Mienfoo) are soooo tiny but I do want to repaint them so they’re more accurate. Grovyle is missing his head leaf but I can fashion him a new one. The Altaria, though, I’m going to leave as is - I’m gonna nickname it Stormcloud Altaria!

And that’s it for my purchases! I could barely walk after leaving Comic Con and my body still aches from the day but I’m glad I could go. There’s a con called HyperJapan coming up in November and I kinda want to go to that ... but it falls in term time and invigilating season is quite close. Plus it’s also in Kensington which is further than the ExCel. Boy do I wanna go though ...

Chapter 29- Part 9

So, let's begin. First things first, the Acid Spray-

Now with such a steep Sp. Defense drop, we'll bring in Bloom to Giga Drain-

That's not gonna work this time!!

Perfect! That HP isn't ideal, but it's alright, we'll deal with it if need be.

She's bringing in the Raichu early…? Okay, this works, I'll just send in Crater early myself.

I know she can't outspeed, but that's fine, she can already live one Psychic without Amnesia, and that one turn is all that's needed.

Now, I'll heal her with a Super Potion and see how much Psychic does now-

Perfect! Now we Earth Power!

Mm- I'm gonna heal her up real fast, just so she's not in the red when Raichu gets knocked out.

There's Mienfoo, okay. The big plan for Incineroar! Out goes Kirin!

We open with Psychic Terrain, like so-

Now Zen Headbutt should extra kill, although it was already able to kill, as seen last time. But now I don't know if she's gonna send out the Incineroar next...

Actually...wait, I just thought of something. If Victoria didn't send out the Gallade earlier, but Psychic Terrain is now up, doesn't that mean-

Ah. Well…I mean, Psychic Terrain won't be up forever, so maybe Prong will still be fine?

We'll just open with Bug Buzz, fine-

UM?? IT DIDN'T DO THAT LAST TIME! IT DIDN'T SET UP BEFORE!

That didn't do as much damage as I thought it would, but maybe it just low-rolled that time. But I'm not sure if Prong can live a boosted Psycho Cut with-

Yeah. I need to get rid of those Attack boosts. Time to pivot to Glare-

-then into Bloom because I won't need him for the Incineroar-

And now into Riptide!

Enough with the critical hits, huh!? Let's see what Ice Fang does against-

OH OF COURSE IT HAS LEAF BLADE TOO- wait. That's a Grass-type attack! If I pivot to Kirin- no wait, it outspeeds her and has Night Slash, nevermind.

I think I made a mistake somewhere.

Well…Psychic Terrain isn't gonna work. I had no idea Gallade had Swords Dance, it didn't use it last time! But I don't think I have anything that can set up Electric or Grassy Terrain, and Blizzard is my main Misty Terrain setter (at least, I don't think I have any other Pokémon with Mist) and will disintegrate to Mienfoo. So…I guess I just have to deal with Incineroar’s Focus Energy.

But the first bit of the battle worked, so let's do that again.

Ignore how Psychic got a Sp. Defense drop on Crater at one point, not important, what is important is…she's sending out the Incineroar this time?? Not Mienfoo?? Okay??

Well, I need Glare at better HP, so let's just keep Crater in for a moment to do some healing-

Now we send Glare in, and Intimidate goes off-

- Taught Charge Beam to Izel.

- Fought against Lysandre. Izel OHKO'ed Mienfoo with Psychic. Sharptooth switched out, got hit with Foul Play and OHKO'ed Murkrow with Ancient Power. Sharptooth hit Gyarados with Crunch and got hit with Outrage. Darwin V switched out, got hit with Outrage and finished off Gyarados with Leaf Blade. Tsuyu switched out, avoided Fire Blast and OHKO'ed Pyroar with Surf.

- 1Fought against Team Flare Aliana. Flint got hit with Sucker Punch and OHKO'ed Mightyena with Power-Up Punch. Flint hit Druddigon with Shadow Claw, got hit with the same attack and finished off Druddigon with another Shadow Claw.

- Fought against Team Flare Mabel. Tsuyu OHKO'ed Houndom with Surf. Jasmine switched out, got hit with Low Sweep and OHKO'ed Weavile with Flamethrower.

(NOTE: I accidentally shut off my laptop before I finished saving my update info in Notepad. Just know that I entered Team Flare's hideout and beat everyone leading up to Yveltal without anyone dying.)

- Caught Yveltal with a Quick Ball. (I can't believe that actually worked, LOL.)

- Fought against Lysandre in the Team Flare Hideout. Izel OHKO'ed Mienshao with Psychic. Tsuyu switched out, got hit with Dark Pulse and OHKO'ed Pyroar with Surf. Tsuyu hit Honchkrow with Surf, got hit with Aerial Ace and finished off Honchkrow with Water Pulse. Darwin V switched out, got hit with Outrage, hit Gyarados with Leaf Blade, got hit with Outrage and finished it off with Aerial Ace.

- Missed catching a Gurdurr on Route 18.

- Caught Peni the Ariados (Lv. 45, Jolly Nature, Loves to eat) in Terminus Cave.

- Lost Darwin V in a trainer battle on Route 18.

- Added Spice to the team and evolved her into Gourgeist.

- Did some grinding to help Spice catch up with the rest of the team.

- Fought against Professor Sycamore in Couriway Town. Jasmine OHKO'ed Venusaur with Flamethrower. Spice switched out, Blastoise tucked its head in, Spice hit Blastoise with Grass Knot, got unaffected by Skull Bash and finished off Blastoise with Grass Knot. Tsuyu switched out, got hit with Flame Burst and OHKO'ed Charizard with Hydro Pump.

- Caught Pan the Gligar (Lv. 24, Adamant Nature, Likes to fight) on Route 24.

- Easily defeated Shauna, Tierno and Trevor on Route 24. (And almost lost Spice to Tierno's Crawdaunt.)

- Caught Ocax the Noctowl (Lv. 49, Serious Nature, Good perseverance) on Route 20.

- Missed catching a Ditto in Pokemon Village.

- Fought against Gym Leader Wulfric. Jasmine used Work Up and one-shotted his entire team with Flamethrower.

- Taught Ice Beam to Tsuyu.

- Missed catching an Ursaring on Route 21.

- Taught Draco Meteor to Sharptooth.

- Fought against Calem on Victory Road. Sharptooth flinched from Fake Out and OHKO'ed Meowstic with Crunch. Tsuyu switched out, got hit with Dragon Pulse and OHKO'ed Altaria with Ice Beam. Izel switched out, got with Seed Bomb and took down Chesnaught with Fly. Flint switched out, got hit with Quick Attack and OHKO'ed Absol with Brick Break. Spice switched out, avoided Muddy Water and OHKO'ed Vaporeon with Seed Bomb.

- Began grinding for the Elite Four.
