like. reid coming extremely close to needing to be dragged away from nathan?

both garcia and reid's expressions here? reid, who cares for and identifies with nathan, garcia, who has (i believe) never seen a dead body* in person? (also, you can't see it here because it's a still image, but reid's breath is hitching here and he looks close to hyperventilating)

*i know nathan is not dead here, nor does he die at all—the point im making is that having never seen a dead body in person before would make you more unprepared for seeing the aftermath of an unsuccessful suicide attempt than someone who has

reid makes no movement to clean the blood off his hands until gideon is right in front of him. he just stands there and stares like hes dissociating until gideon comes up and, in my opinion, sort of startles him into acting.

and gideon putting an arm around reid and taking him away from the scene while morgan does the same to garcia. hhhh.

this is the most emotional we see reid get up to this point. he's yelling while he's trying to keep nathan arrive, enough to strain his voice. i dont think hes so much as raised his voice at all up to this point.

i wonder how long he washed his hands for before he deemed himself "clean".

anyway I don’t think these people realize how gory being bludgeoned to near death is, and maybe it's because of the limitations of the medium that scene was presented in

so. typically. i wouldn't like the whole 'turns out isoo's mom didn't kill herself but was murdered' twist because it's so overdone in these kind of settings but. with the way they revealed it, i can't help but like it despite the trope-y nature of it all. good execution is key, friends

I feel like one of the big problems with I2 is its refusal to acknowledge that anything in the last movie even happened lol. Like, other than the Underminer, the situation with Tony (kind of), and the family being homeless, basically nothing in I1 really has consequences? Nobody even mentions Syndrome or anything he did, and he kind of uh. Did a lot? He wiped out a whole generation of supers, including at least one who both Bob and Winston considered a friend, and we don’t even touch on that. It makes the tone of the movie feel kind of jarringly light and even dismissive. Like, 15 of Bob, Helen and Lucius’s old friends getting wiped out should be kind of a big deal for them emotionally!!! It should also be a big deal for the public too, and for the legalization campaign Winston is trying to pull off—basically every recognizable super is dead, can we please touch on how that affects Winston’s efforts?? Can we have lines from the wannabes about how they idolized Blazestone or Apogee when they were kids?? Anything???

Here’s my season five theory:

Mike is Vecna’s main target (like Max was)

This leads to: the audience realizing his internalized homophobia, El finding out about his feelings for Will, and Will tapping into his powers

I also think since they’ll be pairing up characters again, Mike and Will are going to be paired together so Will can watch Mike and ensure that he’s safe

And I also am seriously considering them pulling a Deadlights parallel (in IT, Bev gets taken by Pennywise, thrown into the air in the same way Vecna does to his victims, Ben kisses her and it saves her) where Mike ends up in Vecna’s lair and we get a little Upside Down kiss moment that helps pull him out of the trance

Because: Vecna is all about self-hatred. He targets people who are depressed and feel guilty and who hate themselves. Mike accepting himself would be the key to defeating Vecna in this scenario. It fits in perfectly with every “moral message” this series has shown so far

That’s why I think it’s crucial that he is targeted by Vecna, because he’s such an insular character that only Bylers acknowledge the possibility (and likelihood) that he’s queer and has feelings for Will. Vecna is the perfect way to make these internal feelings shown on the screen

And remember the piggyback?

I think that, somehow, Will is going to learn how to do this as well. And he’ll see what Mike is going through and will then realize that it’s safe to tell him how he feels and the truth about the painting (if he hasn’t already at that point). I think this visual will also be the way that El begins to put the pieces together. I actually wouldn’t be shocked if she realized this before Will and tried telling him

I haven’t been able to get the bathroom call between Daigo and Majima out of my head for weeks since I read it with how naturally it all flows. My own little Daigo characterization booklet to review when I feel like I need a refresher on him.

so I may have stayed up until 6am reading this (would’ve slept earlier but I couldn’t stop reading it) and hgggahaghhhhaggahshhhhhhhh that was one of the most well-characterized fics I’ve ever read what the fuck. like the differences in how each character speaks (both tone-wise and in differing levels of authenticity) and how they speak to specific others (the daigo and majima dyanmic specifically- how they actually take into account how long they’ve been working really closely- SO good), the mental anguish and chaos vs the overwhelming emptiness of being daigo dojima but no longer The 6th Chairman Daigo Dojima……….I could keep going but I think you get it.

tbh I’d been wanting to write something exploring a similar set of dynamics/situation (post-kiryu’s fake death, interactions with haruka, daigo, and/or majima specifically, reflecting on his shortcomings while acknowledging the heavy Grief left behind) but now I’m like. well I still could but this was so well written in regards to daigo and haruka that, as far as something between those two goes, I don’t feel the need to.

I want to try and start a chain of people’s “Scottish Play” stories (as in times in a theatrical production where someone said the name of it (oh, screw it, I’m not in a theater, “Macbeth”) and legitimately had a cursed production). I am not a superstitious person, but the Scottish Play’s is a curse I will always attempt to avoid after this summer because, oh boy.

Picture this: It was the middle of Tech Week, a bunch of teenagers were milling about during a five minute break, talking about the show and school next year and what have you. The conversation came up about summer assignments, one kid (who will remain anonymous and was definitely not me haha whaaaat) said they started reading Hamlet for fun, but then heard their brother’s class was assigned Macbeth over the summer and decided they would stop and join him in reading that play instead. The name of the play was said three times during that conversation before the kid realized what they’d done. A silence fell over the group. A joking silence, laughed off in a few seconds as everyone else blamed the speaker for any future screw ups in the show. The rest of rehearsal went off without a hitch.

The play was named three times. The first effect came to fruition the next day, on a day the speaker was not called. One of our taller actors could always be seen wearing round sunglasses while on stage. He complained that the lights were too hot and bright, and he luckily managed, because of this, to incorporate the glasses into one of his costumes (and they really worked, tbh). While doing his scene from atop the raised platform that was a part of the set, the brightness of the on-stage lights (not the ones that were in front, but the ones directly above) was no bother to him thanks to his shades, but the heat rather was. He continued with the scene, getting angrier and angrier as directed, until he was, in fact, smoking. His proximity to the stage light, due to his raised position and genetically-granted elevation, had caused his hair to, only briefly, and rather characteristically for his role, begin to smolder. He was fine, but it was rather shocking all around.

It only got worse from there. Much worse. The second event happened on opening night. Fifteen minutes into opening night, to be precise. The first two songs had been sung, and they went great. Our lead was full of energy. The whole cast was full of energy. The first combat scene was coming, and it showcased our coolest costume in the show, a huge rigged skeletal cage, attached to a backpack worn by the actor for the monster, who wielded a huge greataxe. None of this had anything to do with what went wrong. What did happen is that exactly at the correct time in the combat, when the lead gets slammed to the ground by the monster, an unfortunate arm placement during his stage fall caused him to break his arm on stage. Those of us backstage genuinely thought he had just really gone for it, acting-wise, hearing his vocalizations of pain, that is, until they kept going, and then the curtains closed, and then the panic set in. He was driven off to the hospital, we waited thirty minutes for the understudy to arrive, and the show continued, where it left off, opening the curtains on the lead character, now played by the understudy, unconscious on stage. He played for the next two shows, and did a great job. Everyone in the cast wrote letters to our injured cast mate. The speaker of the curse made sure to include in theirs that the cast mate should feel free, should they believe in the superstition, to seek revenge upon them however he saw fit.

The third, you might say, dear reader, could not POSSIBLY have been caused by the curse. In fact, it hardly had any effect on the show at all, other than a few cast members arriving a bit late. To that I say I do not care. I know in my bones that this was sent to teach me a lesson. What was it? Well, a huge storm (the first of many on the east coast), came through. Half of the cast lived about thirty minutes away from the theater, including myself, and carpooled, while everyone else was more local. Yet of course the storm only effected us over in the more easterly county. A tree had fallen alongside my house and ripped the gutter off, though that was pretty much all the damage I or anyone in the cast sustained. It did knock down pretty much every other tree in a several-mile radius, slowed traffic, and was legitimately the worst storm our county had seen in my lifetime, however.

So yknow. I’ll try not to say the name of that play again if I can help it.

im SOOOO ready and excited to be done with chapter one of this fucking draft so i can actually see how the story will progress not just in the present but the beautiful chronological flashbacks showcasing beau and his best friend bobby. but also in order to do that i also have to get past what is probably going to be the worst and most awkward flashback to write which I’m calling “how the fuck do a 20 and a 21 year old talk for the first time about the fact one of them is dying” good god i would not wish that level of awkwardness a character not knowing what to say on my writer enemies. I mean the fact there’s no right thing to say in that context is what drives it and brings the tension but it’s too much tension with little pay off it’s uncomfortable situation scene-ing too close to the sun. like how do you find the source of resolution in that just an overall awful scene to construct all around
