Here’s my season five theory:
Mike is Vecna’s main target (like Max was)
This leads to: the audience realizing his internalized homophobia, El finding out about his feelings for Will, and Will tapping into his powers
I also think since they’ll be pairing up characters again, Mike and Will are going to be paired together so Will can watch Mike and ensure that he’s safe
And I also am seriously considering them pulling a Deadlights parallel (in IT, Bev gets taken by Pennywise, thrown into the air in the same way Vecna does to his victims, Ben kisses her and it saves her) where Mike ends up in Vecna’s lair and we get a little Upside Down kiss moment that helps pull him out of the trance
Because: Vecna is all about self-hatred. He targets people who are depressed and feel guilty and who hate themselves. Mike accepting himself would be the key to defeating Vecna in this scenario. It fits in perfectly with every “moral message” this series has shown so far
That’s why I think it’s crucial that he is targeted by Vecna, because he’s such an insular character that only Bylers acknowledge the possibility (and likelihood) that he’s queer and has feelings for Will. Vecna is the perfect way to make these internal feelings shown on the screen
And remember the piggyback?
I think that, somehow, Will is going to learn how to do this as well. And he’ll see what Mike is going through and will then realize that it’s safe to tell him how he feels and the truth about the painting (if he hasn’t already at that point). I think this visual will also be the way that El begins to put the pieces together. I actually wouldn’t be shocked if she realized this before Will and tried telling him

I’m thinking about how administrative leave requests would work in starfleet and it’s gotta be a huge pain in the ass right. vulcans would probably need a special expedited leave request process for pon-farr, because they become violent/die if they don’t excuse themselves to have sex asap, but this is probably a narrow accommodation only granted to vulcans, so if they were dating a non-vulcan who had to go through normal, slower leave request procedures that would cause logistical issues cuz emergency pon farr admin leave only works if both parties can do it at the same time, so if you’re a non-vulcan dating a vulcan you would have to probably apply to get that accommodation extended to you, and because I’m assuming starfleet operates on the same punitive logics as contemporary bureaucracies do, they’d be paranoid about non-vulcans “cheating the system” by falsely claiming they were dating a vulcan to get their leave request expedited, so they’d probably require proof of marriage or long-term cohabitation with a vulcan in order for a non-vulcan to get approved for that kind of thing, meaning casual or otherwise non-normative vulcan/non-vulcan couples in starfleet would be administratively marginalised and (re)produce a culture deriding interspecies dating, especially because humans seem to be kinda default racist towards vulcans in star trek in general, so they would probably view a human dating a vulcan as getting “special privileges” for administrative leave even though it’s just a basic accommodation. this is a classic example of how administrative apparatuses operating on a liberal conception of equity can reproduce systems of racial discrimination

the star wars prequels arent,, Good (hot take i know) but yk what george lucas went “darth vader is quite possibly one of the scariest, most iconic, most well executed villains in cinematic history. his backstory: somehow married and an incel simultaneously — they said it wasnt possible but im proving them wrong one dreadful cringe-inducing line of excruciatingly bad dialogue at a time” and thats sort of galaxy brain of him. like thats a bit iconic. i truly hate to say it but “weirdo repressed self-isolationist 20 something year old man who has ‘rude to his mum’ vibes and turns to fascism despite the vast support network frequently offered to him” is such an under-utilised villain origin, mostly because its profoundly lame in every way. its easily the funniest option they couldve picked. like in tpm they set it up, tragic backstory: slavery, and then kind of didnt do much with that huh. like aotc said actually scrap that hes just not allowed to fuck. he has a hot wife but thats illegal so hes going to genocide babies. truly george said “why did you do this” and the ghost of anakin skywalker rose from the blank page and replied
who was george to protest really

I cannot stop thinking about that Voltron Legendary Disappointment post you made. You're so real for those takes.
Why is calling Allura "space mom" racist though I'm confused by that part. It always felt a bit weird to me so I never really interacted with the people who called her that back when I was super into this show in 2018.
first of all bear in mind that i'm a white person, so i am not really the deciding voice on this one, but imo allura being the "space mom" kind of swerves into the stereotype where black women are nurturing motherly figures (the "mammy" stereotype specifically). and while allura IS a kind caring person, i personally have never gotten any maternal vibes from her. she's not a motherly figure, she's a teenager who has been forced to take a leadership role in a war. putting her on the pedestal of "space mom" takes away from the fact that she's not an adult. too often her trauma is ignored by canon and fanon, and portraying her as an adult whose primary role is to take care of the kids only does that even more. not to mention the racist undertones of actively changing a character to make her fit a racist stereotype

@ the Mephisto ask.
2 questions
1. Would Asmo want to get in on that? Either as also wife or "this is my wife Solomon, and his wife/husband Mephisto :)"
2. Family outing with Mephisto, his wife Solomon and their two kids IK and Luke
1 - i don't think asmo would have any genuine desire to be in the relationship, BUT i think the three of them would end up in the sort of dynamic where mephisto will start jokingly referring to asmo as 'the mistress', but whose mistress he is changes depending on whichever is funnier in the current situation
and 2 - the joke runs DEEPER! now luke is a stepchild - simeon of course being his singular legal parent. when asked about the logic of this mephisto shrugs and goes "he osmosed him" (he heard the scientific term 'osmosis' from ik and has no idea what it means, but ik is supporting him in his incorrect usage of it regardless)
ik is of course already lucifer's child/daughter/all those other terms, so mephisto refers to her as their son instead. ik loves it

I'm genuinely So sad about the path Mando is taking like. I enjoyed some moments of course, but the way they're completely taking the spot light from Din's and Grogu's relationship (which is the literal premise of the show and what got me into it in the first place) to focus on another character we had little to no connection with in the previous seasons, and also make her completely let go of her past goals for what? To become an ambassador of something she wasn't even apart of??? Also completely ignoring her past and turning her into this shallow innocent princess. Sorry for the rant, I'm just really sad about the new season
No dont be! You’re so valid for that and I agree completely :/
A lot of people have already put it into words better but season 3 baring all shitty writing just doesnt feel like The Mandalorian anymore
The main part of the show of din and grogus relationship is just not there anymore, and the fact that we spent two seasons building up these really lovable characters that had so much more potential and places to go and just dulled them into a purely merchandising object and a cardboard cutout yes man is so disappointing
I got into the mandalorian for the characters because I love character driven stories. I can’t care less about bigger plots on their own and the new season being this wide galaxy thing insgead of a funky show where we get to see this guy politely fail to decline every side quest ever and try and take care of his son, I just. Dont care anymore
Like nothing about season 3 feels character focused. Sure bo katan is There but all her flaws and faults that make her an interesting character get brushed under the rug and completely ignored in favor of propping her up to be this sympathetic hero, even though we canonically have evidence of the complete opposite. There is no attempt to even give her character development so when she gets the sabre handed to her Again, the expectation that her rule is going to work this time is just poor writing
Its basically that phrase “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”
I just feel like the writers this season somehow are completely unaware of their characters and how they would act in situations. It feels like they created the plot first are forcing the characters to complete their checklist of wants with complete disregard of whether it makes sense for them to do it at all
Season 2 gave us really wholesome moments between Din and Grogu and I dont think I’m wrong for saying that we all expected the latter to increase as seasons and episodes went by
They clearly understand that we all love Din since they baited us in the promotional material so I literally cannot fathom why they decided to nix the direction they were going to for practically a completely different story
The story of a man who’s trying to find his place in the world and learns to become a father is just not there anymore. And that just… sucks
And well, this probably sounds really nit picky to some or like “why are you so focused on this shlt just enjoy the show and have fun” but when you love the show for two reasons only (din and din and grogus relationship) its very very hard to like something that has so blatantly carelessly pushed that aspect aside. And when you’re not interested in whats happening because the reason you love the show isnt treated well, you kinda start to see all the flaws behind the curtains

I’m never gonna get over the fact that Nancy went to a party, came home stumbling drunk, covered in punch and was put to bed by Jonathan without her parents noticing. Like… at least with Mike hiding El in the basement it was established that no one goes down there (which isn’t that much better) but Jonathan brought Nancy through the FRONT DOOR at like… 9:30-10pm and no one noticed shit.

Modern AU Camilla and Palamedes and Dulcinea have like every possible opinion about legal marriage, because if Pal and Dulcie got married, she would lose her disability benefits, but ALSO the three of them are more of a triad anyways and ALSO Cam's relationship with the other two is really more queerplatonic and she would rather not marry anyone thank you. Do not mention health insurance around them, their eyes will light up with righteous anger and you will get a two-hour lecture complete with academic citations.

I really liked the ep Bonnibel Bubblegum but it also made me like....😔 About that certain ableist undercurrent in a lot of AT
And it's like oh well. It's a general problem with the show, it's just that s10 plotline makes it really stand out lol
