“This year’s elections—and the stark choice they present for our nation’s future—are a tipping point that occurs perhaps only once in the history of any nation. How we vote in our local, state, and federal elections this year has certainly never been as important during my lifetime, and the direction we choose will reverberate through many, many decades to come.”

"Narvin, by picking up the sextant you risked your life. Your only life."
"Of course, and I'd do it all over again. Leela, I- I-"
"I know. I also know you want to ask me a question, and you know my answer - I cannot."
"I think I've known all along."
"If it was not this way, I would come with you. But Romana only lives while I serve. While we are apart... you are no longer alone, Narvin. "
"No. No, I'm not. None of us are. "

The Righteous Kingdom
1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
2 And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
3 And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.
4 The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.
5 The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.
6 For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
7 The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.
8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand. — Isaiah 32:1-8 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: 1 Samuel 25:25; 2 Samuel 14:14; Psalm 12:8; Psalm 72:1-2; Psalm 91:1; Psalm 119:95; Psalm 141:4; Proverbs 11:25; Isaiah 4:6; Isaiah 5:23; Isaiah 12:2; Isaiah 29:18; Isaiah 29:24; Isaiah 35:4-5; Matthew 12:34

i am going to stand on my Raph Is The Sun soapbox forever ftr. not that anyone has said not to.
i don’t mean that in an “everything and everyone revolves around raph all the time, bc he’s the most important one of them all” way. bc i’ll reiterate forever that there is no one member of this family who is the Most Important or most special, there is no member of this family who would be the most or least devastating to lose. like. if the hamatos lose anyone they’re never fully recovering.
i do mean what i say in the general sense of raph being a source of warmth and support, and in the sense that he does a lot of holding everyone together.
but more than anything when i say raph is the sun and his family is his solar system i mean like
raph isn’t the sun bc he’s the most important one that everyone revolves around, he’s the sun bc without a planetary system, a sun isn’t a sun. and i think so much of raph’s sense of personal identity and purpose is wrapped up in the roles he serves for his family so like. it just all checks out

#random personal stuff#the search for a new library director goes on#right now our only applicants (as far as I know) are:#A) man with uncanny similarity to That Man in appearance speech and mannerisms and who has already acted shady#B) woman with a teaching background who just started working on her library degree (a position requirement)#and C) one of our current librarians who lacks the necessary people and technology skills and has a p o l i t i c a l agenda#so you see the difficult position the hiring committee is in#I'm not on this committee of course#but as someone who would have to work under whoever they chose I have concerns#I could not work for someone who was like That Man - wouldn't be able to trust him and would be constantly on edge#(even if he somehow turned out to be just fine despite the bad signs - I would have a hard time shaking those associations)#and I couldn't work for my current co-worker either#we've already got a clique here with him and another guy and his being in charge would just further enable existing problems#and there would be nothing I could do about it - it would be the two of them running things to suit themselves#and we need someone with a library degree because it's important to the role and apparently it's also been made clear#that certain people who do have such degrees wouldn't respect anyone who didn't yet#but to be frank if these were the only options I would rather have the person with the degree in progress#who reportedly seems to have the better leadership skills#the lack of a degree is something that can change with time#but personal qualities are more fixed#& as important as a library degree is I have seen that it doesn't necessarily make one able to make the best decisions for a library

“I believe the 2024 elections boiled down, when all was said and done, to a single, overriding factor: Voters are sick of the incessant nagging and scolding of easily offended and perpetually aggrieved Democrats who sneered at the concerns—and denigrated the values—of those whom they deemed less educated, less worthy, and less enlightened than they.”

Hi lovely!
I come from grandparents who are illiterate and my uncles, aunts and mom have degrees and went to college but they still have issues with using large vocabulary and understanding things in a larger context. Idk how to explain it. But it’s like they’re only saying what they know and misuse words. I find myself doing that too and didn’t realize it til I was corrected by a college professor in front of the whole class and it was embarrassingggg.
For me it’s worse, because my cousins have this issue too and they’re all in school but my parent had a stroke and I’m always around them and their words are slurred and they use to wrong words and I pick up on that habit because I help take care of them.
One day I want to do public speaking- debate club - stuff like that. I want to be in leadership but i feel held back or not good enough or knowledgeable enough even though I study hard, and speak to different people when I can.
Even though I read and listen to educational stuff on YouTube from different views, I still have the habits my family does.
What should I do be better with my words, mindset, and stuff like that? Thank u so much :)
Hi love! It sounds like you're going through a lot with your family, so sending love <3
To improve your vocabulary, communication, verbal delivery, and public speaking skills, I would suggest:
Read. A lot. Try reading articles/essays from well-written publications (The New Yorker and The Atlantic immediately come to mind), and books & essays from classic and contemporary authors across cultures to diversify your lexicon & expand your worldview.
Listen to TED Talks. Also, programs like Toastmasters are supposed to be great for public speaking.
Practice talking to yourself in the mirror. Give yourself a pep talk or have a self-debate with yourself in the mirror when alone.
Write journal entries that mimic thesis statements. Vent like you're writing an informal essay. Then, take some time away from the page and revise it into a logical string of thoughts/arguments to prove why or why your decision made sense, was the most helpful, etc. for a more minor situation that occurred throughout a random day (let's just say why you made a certain lunch or time you decided to shower – nothing emotionally-charged or heavy on the mind/soul).
Free write to expand on your strongest or most unpopular opinions. You can learn how to justify/craft a compelling argument with no one trying to interject when you speak while always having the final say.
Hope this helps xx

Okay I'm having more thoughts about Andor episode 7.
During this episode Mon Mothma makes reference in a conversation with an old friend that she's been attending Separatist Coalition meetings. Was Mon Mothma a Separatist? Palpatine's entire rise to power was precipitated upon the Separatist Crisis and the resulting Clone Wars, but from the way it sounds, it doesn't seem like the Separatist Coalition was an illegal organization so much as an organization to be infiltrated and monitored.
I'm fascinated by this. I've always been intrigued by Separatist ideology in Star Wars and curious about its roots and development (beyond Dooku's speeches). Maybe there were separate (ha!) schools of Separatist thought, and Dooku's was merely the largest and most influential. I'm curious if we'll get more on this in the rest of the episodes (especially since we already have the... weirdness of the Separatist-ship-that's-actually-a-Republic-ship in Cassian's backstory in the first three episodes).
