03/26/25: I had a fun day at the Wednesday fleamarket today. Found a variety of items that I liked. First things first. I found two old music Lazerdiscs and some 2000s era Electronica music cds. As well as an anniversary book of poems of Where the Sidewalk Ends. And one umd of Dumb and Dumber. $10 for all of it! The next seller I found some artsy limited(?) edition blurays, and a season of a crime drama TV show from the 90s. Guy wanted $10 for all three. And when I paid him, I saw a ps4 controller and gave the man the $15 he wanted for it. Next, I paid a dollar for what seems a bootleg Initial D dvd. Not sure if it's legit. But it seems well made enough. Second pic all came from one seller. The place had a lot of things! But I limited myself to this. I probably could have bought more as his prices were quite reasonable. The whole lot of Star Trek Lazerdiscs, dvds, music cd, a ps4 game a manga and a 5200 controller was $18 for everything! Last pic had potential, but I can't win all the time. I found a tub full of original Xbox games, but as I opened them, they had no discs! Boo! But they can still be worth something, a few have those old employee stickers. So I took them to the guy. And he said that 'weren't they complete?' I told him nope. I wasn't sure if he knew what he had or just making conversation. But he thinks someone stole them earlier. But he's got so much stuff he probably didn't notice. I feel more bad if the dumbass Thief was real. They're worth more complete. Anyways, $15 seemed okay for the lot. I then got more complete videogames. For $12 bucks, I got two sealed Xbox one games and three other used games. Another seller then had boxes of dvds. I got them for $11. Some Looney Tunes, horror and zombie flicks. Then for $3.00 it was the Kid Rhino copy Of Transformers the Movie and two mini books of those drawn Aliens we always see on Facebook. And finally for $4.00 I found some etsy framed drawing of Alice in Wonderland. Lots of stuff!

robot tmbg okay okay. let me cook i want to explain this. john linnell is NOT a robot actually hes an automaton. which are very similar but still a little different. he's an older one probably from the late 1800s eventually refurbished sometime in the 70s or 80s that plays accordion (think the vaucanson automat flute player or floutiste) mainly made of wood and the rustiest metal around. hes very uncanny looking and as a mix of this and this novelty of something like an automaton being able to play the accordion he's often brought out as bizarre entertainment. too polite he says he hates it. too shy to sing despite gaining rudimentary vocal chords during his refurbishment

john flansburgh is an actual industrial-grade capital r Robot. personally i see him as a kind of cheesy looking robot almost like the ones from RUR but you know. just generally the idea is that he is a bit newer and perhaps more modern than linnell. he has printing capabilities (i think he has a miniature printing press of sorts in his torso compartment) and absolutely artistic ones but he keeps getting stuck at factory jobs where all he does is Sort Thing. refine Thing. process Thing. hes pretty pissed off about this and very rightfully so. lucky thing he has enough control over his hands to play the guitar i suppose!

anyways i think they form tmbg for kind of obvious reasons. both are wronged by the world in distinctly different ways and almost envy the role the other gets to play but are brought together by this and write their Soungs yay <3 yayyy

okay more about robot stuffs bc i apparently care. flansburgh doesnt really need glasses because he doesnt have Human Eyes but he wears them almost as like a statement? i do really think his vision is a little jacked up and i think hes very peeved that its considered to not matter because he doesnt "need it" but the glasses dont really fix it. i think the way he dresses is likely super similar to how the human workers dressed anyways. so its kind of part of that

linnell is. kind of falling apart? his paint is chipped and his hair (wig basically) is kind of messy but his torso and arms aren't particularly pretty. his strings and joints arent covered up in the slightest and his vocal chords werent installed in a particularly seamless way. this is probably one of the reasons why he adopted turtlenecks. they hide a bunch of that sort of thing.

the way the two of them read music is super duper different. flansburgh's memory works a tiny bit like an old casio where chords and notes can just be Saved and either thats it and he keeps them in there or he's keeping track of that data in the form of things a little more like midi files and stored on things much more similar to floppies and lazerdiscs. i havent decided dont look at me. anyways linnell still uses a musicbox-like wheel system. its decently small (this may contribute to their songs being under 3 minutes so often admittedly) but it is still kind of impractical for storage. flansburgh nags him to just get a more efficient system installed and he doesnt do it definitely NOT because he doesnt want a bunch of hands in him. hes actually not freaked out by that at all and doesnt mind it in the slightest.

i think a lot of their aging process is just. Thing broke down and needs to be repaired. almost paradoxically though flansburgh is newer he is in need of more repair than linnell who has kind of been perpetually near-broken since they started playing. he holds out for a while but still has to get a few things done over time. i think flansburgh eventually drags him to a shop when his wheel reading system starts getting choppy and he clearly starts writing Around certain notes to avoid playing them. he complains about getting fixed the whole way home (to their once shared and now two seperate supply closets)

Bedroom laserdisc pile, with bonus Suzy Eddie Izzard.

Primary living room laserdisc pile, with bonus Pepperoni. We don't have a cat, but the cat we don't have is this squeaky girl, Pepperoni.

Secondary Living Room Laserdisc Pile, featuring Sneakers (1992). This is here because these were recently moved from the dining room, during a rearrangement to make room for visitors on air mattresses. This pile also contains a (not shown for SFW reasons) gay furry porn comic, for reasons that have been oft speculated on but never resolved. One of the leading theories is that it's because there's some pornographic laserdiscs in this pile?

I didn't have time to photograph my Office Laserdisc Piles (at least 2), my Roommate's Laserdisc Piles, our Hallway Shrine which (of course) contains The Santa Clause (1994) on laserdisc, or the Garage Laserdisc Pile.

(not, of course, to even MENTION the Lazerdisc Piles in my storage units. That's where most of mine are, after all!)

I went out to a junk store with my roommate and some friends, and my roommate found a copy of Stargate (the movie), on laserdisc, in French.

Naturally she bought it. I'm just disappointed it was just called "Stargate" and not La Porte Etoile.

01/25/23: I've had a most excellent day of finding stuff! It's mostly all fleamarket finds. First I found for $7.00; two wrestling dvds, Cradle 2 the grave dvd and two unopened music cds. Next lot cost me $20; two Lazerdiscs, One Akira comic, a Transformers dvd, three Ducktales dvds, two more blurays and six audio cds. After that, a classic Xbox controller for $4 and two more dvds at a dollar each. Then, it was a 90s Spawn toy, a marvel comic from the same time and a Doc Snow white piggybank all for $9.00. My retro nostalgic feels came back when I saw a He-man reissue toy for $10. Guy had quite a bit of Christmas overstock toys. But only this one grabbed my attention. Then I bought some common games. Three at a dollar each, sure why not. I found another set of movies for cheap too, plus a hardback comic. All ended up at a dollar each, totaling $13. Last thing I found was a slightly warped Zelda manga for a dollar. I'm gonna try and put something heavy on it, to get it shaped more normal. I then went to Walmart hoping to find clearance games, but all I found was a clearance Transformers toy for $25. And finally to end my trip, I went to a Family Dollar store to get a drink, and I found some clearance xbone games, $2.00 each.

It's a cold night, each drop of the rasping red rain like a pin through the leather and then the skin. Each breath feels like it could be the last.

Blood flows along the ground, no sound as lines weave like slim snakes in to a drain. My injuries are still open, the gore to the fore. Slight movements are a struggle, fire burns my skin from within, chest heavy, chest hard, it's arduous to move but the anger boils from the soul so I stay unbroken.

They left me for dead, you dig, thinking it was over. I could flee from here, disappear and become their celebratory memory. I could turn away runaway, live beyond today, but I will not because now I feel stronger, I feel fine, I feel feline... muscles soften to elastic and the static electricity flows through the minds’ liquids, bathing the grey with sublime rainbow day-glow colours.

Lungs expand and hands open like new flowers. It's not me anymore, you think you know me but you don’t. What was before is being washed away. What you see and hear what’s leftover of the walking meat men who did this to me is what you and the rest will come to fear.

No name no control, don’t ask me for details or tags, this is just the joyous foretaste of revenge that this cyber soul has to have before we move on.
