I feel like we're setting ourselves up lmfao I know these writers have mostly delivered so far but we're writing fanfic level possibilities and idk it seems most likely that they won't happen, I don't want to keep thinking of and reading these great soulmate epic scenarios because anything the writers do after that will pale in comparison let's be honest it is so rare that shows give us these true love vibes and also maybe more than vibes in the actual text (this has nothing to do with anything but isn't it hilarious that American tv is obsessed with sex and yet we barely get any decent romance as of late, romantic movies have become so far and few in between and everyone seems to think that they can't depict interesting relationships and dynamics bc people have brainrot now and seem to think shipping and fictional characters are somehow representative of what we condone in real life and not just idk fiction and fun) I'll never forget that "hope you manage to get your family out of star wars" post truly sums up the absolute absurdity of this whole 18th century puritan vibe, anyway here's to them exceeding our expectations.

I feel like they’d have to really drop the ball to disappoint me (and most of us honestly)! I’m usually pretty self aware and under control with my fic writing level theories lol. If anything, ND has tended to pleasantly surprise me with how much we get rather than the other way around, but I’ve been conditioned the hard way lmao. But like last night really showed that they aren’t ashamed to lean into their romance I think. It’s rare we get a quiet confession alone between main characters.

My motto is always expect as little as possible, hope for the best. I really think we’re going to be happy though. As far as the soulmatey vibes… 3x10 was already oozing with them, and I still think the “I’ll never leave you, sweetheart” thing has meaning that may come back again. Since I do think they are writing them with some soulmatisms already, a lot of the theories don’t seem totally out of the question to me. Romantic Nace is actually one of the main plotlines right now (which usually isn’t the case when slowburn shippers end up disappointed in my experience) so I do feel like something pretty good has to go down.

But everyone is different! Some people probably enjoy watching better without reading any fan theories or allowing themselves to expect anything at all. Everyone should do whatever makes watching the most rewarding experience for them!

The end of your ask reminded me how I was just joking with some friends recently that if we actually ship something hard, it seems like a rule that we don’t get a sex scene. Ships we don’t care two licks about then meanwhile mindlessly have minutes on minutes of needles sex scenes I hardly even pay attention to lmao. (Throwback to TW when Layden got what seemed like the longest sex scene on the show). I’m pretty sure Delena and Olicity are like the only ships I have that really had good ones. I really do think Nace will have some good shots when they get one though!

And you are also correct about the lack of good actual romance. There’s this trend of “ew, we don’t need romance in this” so we often get some half assed couple people don’t really care for or hardly anything at all. But like… ships are one of the things that most attract audience to a show. I personally think it has a lot to do with how romance is traditionally a genre that a lot of women enjoy and thus it’s just been looked down upon for years. Typical tbh.

I totally agree! The thiam shippers Hayden bashing and general refusal to acknowledge Liam or Theo's relationships with any of the other characters on the show is so annoying! It's like they're shipping two characters that are nothing like Liam and Theo. >:-(

And exactly. Like, if Thiam is your only ship, okay, but that doesn’t mean you have to continually bash every one else. And everyone’s so sure both of them are gay, even though both have showed interests in girls before. Theo I guess is questionable, he might have been faking some of his feelings for Malia and might have not actually liked Tracy, but Liam had a girlfriend. Please get your biphobia away from my son/husband, thanks.

And, yeah, I agree. @schimaere explains it a lot better in this post, but I agree that it’s not like Liam and Theo now. I could see them similar to that further along in their relationship. Like, a lot further. And there’s nothing wrong with seeing them that way! Ship who you want to ship how you want to ship. If that’s how you see them or want to think of them, go ahead! It just gets a little annoying constantly seeing Theo over simplified and basically erased for the sake of a ship and the pitting of ship against ship. I don’t like it with Sterek and Stalia and I don’t like it with Layden and Thiam. You don’t have to bash one ship to bring up another. It’s like individual characters. If you have to bash one character to make your favorite seem better, than do you actually like that character? Are they actually what you think they are?

Again, these are just my thoughts. I’m not trying to tell people how to feel or ship. I sometimes like the cute text posts, too, and I still ship Thiam, it’s just not all I ship and how I, personally, see their relationship at the moment.

Is it naive of me to expect a proper reunion scene for Stiles and Lydia in the finale? I know they'll have scenes together, but I feel like the emotional stuff will just get glossed over like they've been doing for the past eight episodes.

unfortunately i think you’re right :(i’m pretty sure they decided to treat 6a as a finale season, so when they planned out 6b they probably said to themselves ‘okay, that’s resolved, lets move on’ and since dob wasn’t going to be around they just put it on the back burner. honestly they just really tried to do too much this season it;s kinda like a hurricane but it makes sense that because of that they would shelve the relationships that have already been “endgamed” so to speak. like, theres a bit of morey but its not extensive, they totally ditched layden, scalia is brand new so they’re focusing on it, and well... like dob just wasn’t there so my guess is they expected the viewers to just shrug it off. it sucks but i just think that’s the thing. they wanna focus on this crazy ass plot and bring back all kinds of characters whose stories were finished and introduce a busload of NEW characters nobody cares about so ya...clearly the shippers were not on their mind when writing this season.

Yikes, the Scott and Malia scenes have just been painful.

I can respect a well done ship even if it isn’t my favorite. I don’t like Melissa and Chris (it’s just weird because of Scott and Allison -- AND that they already did something with Noah and Lydia’s mom) but they’ve been doing it pretty well. I believe the actions from both Melissa and Chris, it doesn’t feel that inauthentic, even if it’s a bit weird to me.

But these Scott and Malia scenes...it’s like every scene is just dedicated towards making a case for the ship even existing:

Scolia scene 1 - list the only very minor thing they have in common and have Malia say she’s worried about him (like no shit, she SHOULD be worried about him ALL his friends should be worried about him that shouldn’t be a surprise, like what the hell?)

Scolia scene 2 - let’s recycle how layden got together and put in a line about “I’m sure Stiles will be cool with it...” (which is also annoying because they never gave so much as half an eyelash bat about Malia when putting Stydia together)

I understand wanting to try to pair characters off to make them be happy, but I don’t need to see Scott or Malia in a relationship to know that they’re happy. If they can’t write it in an authentic way then why write it at all?

PS - this isn’t meant as an offense to scolia shippers, I understand it as a fandom ship (and actually kind of like it) it’s just messed up how they’re doing it in the show. I feel about it the same way I do stydia - it could have been done decent but instead done in a weird forced inauthentic way. Maybe they’ll be better once they’re together and get over the awkward push to get them there?

I guess it’s water under the bridge. At least the plot this season has been pretty good.

I'm sorry but I don't like this and it isn't just because I'm a layden shipper. With everything that Hayden and Liam have been though and continue to go though I find it hard to believe that this new guy turns up and suddenly it's an automatic love triangle, I get it with no other couples beside Stydia which we know won't get broken up at all.. and Morey who apparently are safe too, layden was of course the target for this whole "love triangle" thing but it would have been nice to have the last season focus on something other than love triangles, have the endgame relationships happy and able to focus on whatever if wrong with beacon hills! Hayden moved away ‘to protect her sister’ so her and Liam broke up? THE FUCK? Everyone is protecting someone in Beacon Hills, siblings, parents etc. So I’m assuming this is the work of the stupid ass producer who seems to hate all the females on the show except Holland, Shelley and Melissa. Or he was to cheap to keep Victoria on because we all saw in promos that Jackson, Aiden (or Ethan-the superwolf twin who lived), Derek (Who’s running wild in my state of NC-maybe that’s why I’ve been hearing a lot of wolf howls lately?? )  and Kate Argent are all coming back. BUT YOU FUCKING BROKE UP MY LAYDEN. Why not just fucking get rid of Mason and Corey while we’re at it? They’re newbs too. Yet also you keep Cody/Theo on when his arc was CLEARLY over but you loved working with him. I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND AND I NEED TO VENT. 

The only possible reasoning that I could think of is that basically we all theorize Liam will become the next Alpha/True Alpha so he doesn’t need distractions. BUT Scott had plenty of distractions, Allison, a quick thing with Lydia that we’d all like to forget and Kira (Who seemed to be treated badly too). And now this hopefully ‘dream sequence’ with Malia (in promos). SOOOOO once again, tell me WHY you had to get rid of Hayden? 

Do you know how fast the werewolves in your lore run? Even if she moved a couple cities away, they could run to each other’s places on the weekend until they finished high school because they were SO in love. Your first love is special and we saw that with Layden how deep in love they were and to just stop it with just a quick mention while Corey and Mason are trying to get Liam on the Lacrosse field is just stupid. Layden deserved better!

Or were you jealous that Layden was more popular than this rushed Stydia? Even the original Stydia shippers had issues with it. It felt forced and unnatural when he had a good thing with Malia. Even when Stiles vanished, she knew someone was her anchor and realized it was him. Hayden made Liam stronger, she was his Anchor. Plus she kicked ass and was fearless. A good asset to his future pack. 

WTF DUDE? I am so ticked. AND DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE TRY TO HOOK HIM UP WITH SOME OTHER FLOOZIE AND THEN HAYDEN COMES BACK THEN THERE’S A LOVE TRIANGLE. Scott. • At least one really couply scene between Stiles and Lydia • Stiles and Malia having a conversation (they didn’t talk in 6x10) • Stiles giving Lydia “chaste” kisses like Kira and Scott’s first kiss. (Only less surprised lol) • Malia not being tied with Peter, thank you very much. • Only necessary kisses between Liam and Hayden. DO NOT FILL UP SCREENTIME WITH LAYDEN IF IT COULD BE USED FOR PLOT OR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. • Corey being helpful and not annoying. • Derek being surprised about everything. -Princess Lydia who was useless dick’s decoration for not only this ep, but for whole fucking season. RIP. I hope in 6B she will return to her s5 self.

-Nazi werewolf, who was… I see no point why he was in this season, aside of being a bad, bad, stereotypical Nazi German who wants power and destruction and return of the Reich!!!

-Ghost Riders are PUSSIES.

-Stiles and Malia’s relationship was fucked up more than in s5, what is unbelievable. On the other hand, the lack of interactions is fishy. I expect Stalia reunion in the last ep of the season. Mark my words.

-No Marrish. Nothing. Zero. Nada.

-I seriously expected MORE from 6A. And my expectations were on a level of the Mariana Trench, but they managed to landed deeper, in a fucking Earth’s core.

Basically, we survived this shit. We can drink for it. Na zdrowie!
