Every August I read Delirium by Lauren Oliver, because it’s my all time favorite series as it has a place in my heart. Why I choose August to read it is because I try to match the season the book is ultimately placed in to the one I’m reading it during. I read Delirium in August, Pandemonium in September, and Requiem in October.
I also listen to the same playlist that I accidentally happened upon when I first read the series, which has songs that perfectly work with the book.
If you haven’t read this series, and you’ve been having either an existential curiosity lately or even just a romantic one, read this.
It’s good for even people who don’t enjoy romance genre sub-genre books.

I am going to be honest with you and say that this is the first book that I read by Lauren Oliver. Delirium is the second book published by this amazing author. This book punched me straight in the gut with its enthralling and existential crisis twists. As alluring as it can be, I was on cloud 9 when I found out that this is a trilogy!
As far as I’ve read, Lauren usually writes about existential crisis, dealing with high school and also dark and twisty books. Delirium is a dark dystopian novel and with pandemonium and requiem as sequels to delirium, Oliver captures the offbeat life in The USA where love is declared as a disease.
The book talks about a high school student Lena, who is your average, innocent girl and how her whole life is turned upside-down after meeting Alex, a beautiful golden-eyed boy.
But mind you, this is far from a mere love story. Delirium talks about insurgency, forming your own identity, love and most of all, breaking down your walls.
It’ll be easy for me to say that this book had me gripped and captivated from the first line itself. Lena and Alex are from two separate worlds, never meant to be with each other. All this sounds like a cliche and I can’t blame you, but I urge you to read this and find out for yourself how far from a common romance novel this is.
It’s almost as if Lauren took the most cliched plot and then said ‘Nah imma do the opposite!”
What I appreciated the most is that the author portrayed Lena (or other females in the book for that matter) not as a fragile damsel in distress, but wrote her in a way that shows her character development as she transforms into a strong and assertive woman.
This is about fighting your own battles, asserting your role, fighting and winning for the things that matter to you in your life. This is a perfect read for any high-schooler looking for some gripping, emotional and fierce reading.
My rating?
9/10
(A must read)

Broken things by Lauren Oliver : an aesthetic
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
《 Before becoming the Monsters of Brickhouse Lane, before the whole country, from Connecticut to California,  knows us by this nickname, before blogs publish photos of our faces, before several websites crash because a too many visitors had entered our names in search engines, we were unknown girls, and there were only two of us.
Obsessed with the fantastic novel "The way to Lovelorn", three young girls on the fringes try to recreate the world of their imagination in the woods. Until the day the game went too far ... One of them is found dead, in circumstances reminiscent of the novel. Everything accuses the two survivors. Five years later, as they try to turn the page, the past reappears.
It's time to head back to Lovelorn ...》
Aesthetic of novels that I loved (1/?)

Time for a staff recommendation!! This one comes from @danielledawn43. If you’re a fan of fanfiction or is someone that falls in love with a fictional world, this book is for you. If you like a good mystery, that’s even a bonus! “It’s been five years since Summer Marks was brutally murdered in the woods. Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend. That, driven by their obsession with a novel called The Way into Lovelorn, the three girls had imagined themselves into the magical world where their fantasies became twisted, even deadly. The only thing is: they didn’t do it. On the anniversary of Summer’s death, a seemingly insignificant discovery resurrects the mystery and pulls Mia and Brynn back together once again. But as the lines begin to blur between past and present and fiction and reality, the girls must confront what really happened in the woods all those years ago—no matter how monstrous.” #schiappateen #plsjc #yalibrary #teenlibrary #brokenthings #laurenoliver #bookish #bookrecommendation #yabooks (at Schiappa Branch Library) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1HdzUxHwgi/?igshid=1gftph2qb2yqh

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Read the full article

Book of the Week No. 15 Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver Rate: 9/10 Favorite Line: "Here's another thing to remember: hope keeps you alive. Even when you're dead, it's the only thing that keeps you alive." Review: The debut novel of Lauren Oliver; Before I Fall is a realistic fiction originally published in February 2010. The novel mainly showcased about an attacking and sentimental plot that questions our understanding in life, death and hope. One of the best soft-mystery books I have ever had and read. I really love the way on words of Lauren Oliver. This is a rivetting and an impactful story about a girl named Samantha who finds her way in life to have almost everything. She had everything a young adult wants to achieve. But the only complication? She's already on the last day of her life. It keeps on repeating like it was just a dream that seemed not to bother her, only realizing that she's reliving a day again and again, and there's nothing else you could do about it. Acceptance, hope and sacrifice. That's what I'd get after reading this book. I love how a single person-centric novel could really attract the readers' attention and impact them the morals in a mystifying way. Overall, this book is really a great read. The characters really behave very human(ly). The struggles that Sam had was also concretely real. The way that Sam's character developed and changed your perspective chapter by chapter is there. I was enticed by thd whole package. The way it just tackled some existential issues is what urged me to recommend this book to anyone who loves realistic fiction genre. #fiction #books #novel #laurenoliver #beforeifall #life #death #meaningoflife #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookreview #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #goodreads https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfllp0qp7FM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
