Kirsten’s QuaranTEEN Reads #38

Gotham High by Melissa de la Cruz; Illustrations by Thomas Pitilli 

Rating: 8/10 

This graphic novel takes what we know and love about the famous characters from the Batman series and gives them a whole new storyline. The characters are now high schoolers with their own schemes. Some parts of the graphic novel have touches of the characters origin stories and personalities such as Bruce Wayne being a loner after losing his parents or Selina Kyle being as sneaky as ever. I think my biggest problem with the graphic just has to do with how graphics are sometimes for me, in that they feel rushed. I am zooming through this book and suddenly 40 things have happened and I am lost. So either the graphic was going or I was going too fast. I will let you be the judge on that. Other than that, the illustrations were wonderfully done and I liked the reimagined storyline. 

So fans of Melissa de la Cruz or DC, you will like this graphic. It is available for check out at the library.
