i'm turning this round on you. if you've played bloodborne, then most fuckable five bosses from that. if you haven't, same for a different fromsoft game of your choosing. (feel free to do more than five)
I haven't played Bloodborne, I don't use the peasant boxes. But I did watch a playthrough so I'll go ahead and vote anyway.
First imma go through them all and smash or pass and then I'll tell you my faves. Good? Good. Anywhore!
Amygdala

Pass. Look, usually I'm a slut for multiple arms, can't go wrong with multiple arms. But this thing's head looks like a tick and I cannot get over that.
Blood-starved Beast

Pass. Concept art looks dope as hell and very smashable, but in-game it's giving Slav grandma and Slav grandmas fucking scare me. So a very hard pass.
Celestial Emissary

Pass. It looks like someone's diaper-bound toddler. Like the dumb thing was falling over too much so the parents just wrapped it's head in foam and let it terrorize the local wildlife. It also looks like it's fingers would be that nasty toddler level of sticky. Just no.
Cleric Beast
Smash. It's big. It's scary. It's harry. It's got horns. It looks like it's rotting just a lil bit. It's jaw looks like it's been scrapped raw. What's not to love? The only gripe I have are the weird stubby toes but I can tolerate it, not like I have to look at those things.
Darkbeast Paarl

Smash. It's like bones and hair and electricity. It's about the logistics at the moment but I'm down to figure it out.
Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
Smash. Very eldrich. Very have no clue what I'm looking at. Very I'm into it.
Father Gascoigne
Pass. That's just a grandpa. And not even a hot grandpa.
Gehrman, the First Hunter
Pass. That's just a grandpa. And an ugly grandpa.
Martyr Logarius
Pass. That's just a grandpa. An old and freeze-dried grandpa.
Mergo's Wet Nurse
Smash. Smash so hard. The multiple arms. The wings. The empty hood. The absolute feral creature posture. The way it's tattered and ruined and deadly. Smash.
Micolash, Host of the Nightmare

No.
Moon Presence
Smash. Eldritch. The fucking tentacle hair. The weird skull hole face. The ribs. Look it already has a weird sexually non sexual relationship with the player. I might as well. I might as fucking well.
The One Reborn
Pass. It's just too messy for me. I like the idea of this thing being made of parts, of people, of victims. But the design is just too damn messy. It's all over the place. It doesn't look like it added with purpose, with design, it just added stuff for the sake of adding, for the empty want of MORE. And I'm just not into that.
Rom, the Vacuous Spider

Fuck, no!
Shadow of Yharnam

Pass. These are just dudes in robes. There's nothing all that interesting about them. Not even some sexy armor, or weird gore, or bones sticking out.
Vicar Amelia

Hard smash. It's like Cleric Beast's more elegant sexy cousin. There's horns as well! And I mean I do like the aesthetic of her being so white. She has a nice smile as well, so long with so many pointy teeth.
Witch of Hemwick

Pass. It's just moldy Slav grandmas.
Ludwig, The Accursed
Weak pass. It's just the face I have a problem with here, tbh. It's just leaning too much towards horse, like regular normal horse.
Orphan of Kos
Pass. Just looks like a dude to me. A skinny twitchy white dude who ran out of drugs and that's now everyone's problem. Now... his mom on the other hand... ho boy.
Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower
Smash. Yes, yes regular looking woman. But listen! She's tall. She's strong. She's a war criminal. She killed a god with a stick. Like I'm down. She can bend me over and I'd be down. I like her style. And she also stabs herself during the fight... kinda hot ngl.
Living Failures

Hard pass. It's like Celestial Emissary's failed cousins, slightly older and worse. Also have you seen their buts!? They've got the saggy frog butts.
I think the fuck not! Look at that thing!
Laurence, The First Vicar

Smash. Like I know he's one of the worst fights in the game and also the fire, but like... the sass. The fucking attitude in this one pose. Love that for him. Also yes, scraggly dog beast man with horns and ribs on the outside. Very smash.
Now as for the rankings... 1. Mergo's Wet Nurse 2. Cleric Beast 3. Vicar Amelia 4. Laurence, The First Vicar 5. Moon Presence 6. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower 7. Darkbeast Paarl 8. Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
Now in other news, I've realized that Bloodborne is very much moodboard, but it's a lot less fuckable than I thought.

Hi Fareeha! I was wondering, about your bloodborne ships what was your first impressions of them?
What intrigued you and what happen that made you like them that much now? Or did it just came naturally? ;)
I am sorry it took so long! It's 1 PM right now, I managed to GOT up somehow lol... Don't even remember how fell asleep yesterday. Also was occupied with fanfic, trying my best, etc... But to the topic:
Since my first ship was gehrmaria, I’ll start with it.
Romance, sadness, age difference... An old hunter grieving for his beloved who has passed away. All this reminded me of old european ballads that I was reading in my 16... A very beautiful story, unexpectedly romantic for Bloodborne (although it can be interpreted in different ways, not only romantically, but still it is fascinating). Let me add that they both look aesthetically stunning! They are classical, they are tragical, they are... perfection.
First impression for all other ships was: "How do you guys know anything about them?? There is nothing in game about them!!! How can you ship Caryll, mf is not even NPC?? Where do you get an information?? Who tf is Edgar? Oh, I killed him?..."
I swear I was shocked, when learned that fandom has CRAZY amount of ships. First Playtrough I barely got who is Laurence lmao, what IS Healing Church and so on... I can say sincerely - I started to Really understand, why is Valtr insane, why Laurence is VICAR, not bishop, why Annalise's hair are white and not brown, who tf can be siblings in a damned Research Hall and etc ONLY because of @katyahina timeline. My brain can't contain SO MANY info I swear, but I am trying, getting Insight every time I read this (in a good way ofc, I want to see Amygdalas in my sweet Yharnam-like city!)
So. Ships with Micolash. At first I brought him together with my hunter, Guillermo, and was pleased with myself - my story for them sounded convincing, thoughtful and hot xdd Guillermo - a madly in love hunter who, for seeing a drop of light in Micolash (in his past) and hearing Kos's whispers, is ready to die a hundred times, endure literally everything... Poor man! xD And Micolash who is insane enough to feel neverending cycle of NewGames, I mean, that he may even remember that he died already from hunter's hand, that hunter killed him 4 different ways, and I think Micolash would be frightened and lost? He genuinely thought that Nightmare is a perfect realm, HIS realm, but it turns out that someone else is good as Micolash himself to eat cords and ascend but succesfully. Oooof. I like that, Love and Despair, Love/Hate and etc. Oc x canon is really fine, when there are FEELINGS and TENSION between your char and canonical char.
After some time I got to know that silly guy with glasses on from a bridge is somehow really interesting deep character! xD And he's a cutie himself! (I mean look at him. My sweet accountant, my beloved nerd, and it's not a sarcasm!! He looks exquisite) I really like Edgar x Micolash for my beloved love/hate theme, slight toxicity and Edgar’s unspoken dependence on his enemy (Micolash is often made too “submissive” in their pairing. He may be and even must be bottom, but he is too much dominant as a person to be so naive and crying because Edgar-senpai is ignoring him). Edgar is a choir boy, soft, afraid of Micolash, is angry with him, but inside he cannot live without his attention. And Micolash - I think he liked Edgar as something unusual, fresh in his life (or death), something absolutely different from everything he had seen. Moreover, a spy. Moreover, he is so confident in the Church. But can change his opinion and most likely will. A perfect object of entertainment and moral debate. You can break him and win him over to your side. Nice pairing. I'm still in love.
Laurence x Micolash - kjdsflak;sdjfwernmfklaaaawoooooo!!!11!1! This ship is driving me crazy, I can't!! xD They look great together, they are similar, they are two brilliant minds seeking for knowledge, two scientists, two rivals, two assholes. But it seems to me that they would definitely have separated, because such similar people are unlikely to be together for a long time. I mean, they both need primacy too much. And it would destroy them. I also don't like Laurence, I can't help it. Maybe because I still don't fully understand his character?.. Maybe.
Damian x Micolash - amazing! I am now captivated by this pairing and am writing a story based on it. They are beautiful combination of an adult, serious Damian and an energetic, hot-tempered Micolash, as a couple they are divine. Damian... still waters run deep and all that. He is strong, thoughtful, cold, he can knock out any threat to his loved one. As a former Tomb Prospector and a Mensis Scholar, a byrgerkinght student, he must be really educated and smart, but also well-built and powerful, graceful and deadly. Micolash is his master and also a little boy. I headcanon that Damian is like 15 years older than him? And that's great. Wonderful, soft ship with a deep conflict of Damian's humanity and Micolash's curiosity and confidence.
Am I shipping anything else? With such passion - no. But in general, I like Laurence/Ludwig, Caryll/Rom, recently one nice person helped me realize the potential of Micolash/Adeline and I am kinda hmmmmm interested? XD I need more time to think of it. I met this pairing earlier but was like "pppft they couldn't even met!", don't blame me :'D
I respect all pairings, if they have something like plot in them. It’s especially nice to see when an artist or writer is truly devoted to his favorite couple and describes it with soul, it just makes you look at the couple from a different angle and start scrutiny.
#ask#mutuals#fantomette YOU are cool just know it#I fell out of life for a day#my head aches#I want to draw write scream everything simultaneously#fandom ships

I can say a few things about this! as Antonius Tertius explains in his video about Bloodborne’s music production, the Latin lyrics for Bloodborne’s songs aren’t composed originally in Latin. The lyrics are translated into Latin from English by the music producers at Sony, with input in the form of lore phrases in Japanese from Miyazaki and the other writers. The primary emphasis when the producers were writing the lyrics wasn’t on making coherent Latin sentences, but on creating aesthetically appropriate vocals for the boss fights themselves. This means that they, on many occasions, break grammar rules in order to choose the syllables that sound best in the song itself.
Antonius Tertius does a great breakdown of the proper grammar vs the broken grammar of the lyrics in the videos @slavonicrhapsody has linked above. To use the specific example you mention, ‘sanguine sanctum’ appears many times throughout “Laurence, the First Vicar.” The declension endings in this phrase don't match; it should be appearing in its nominative “sanguis sanctus” or its accusative “sanguinem sanctum” respectively depending on the specific grammatical functions it's serving in the song's lyrics.
So, to summarize, Bloodborne is unique in that it does contain several songs with Latin lyrics, but the grammar is stretched in order for a better sound musically. The volume of misinformation spread about the music from the Soulsborne games, and especially Bloodborne, is honestly insane. if you want to learn more, i would highly recommend checking out Antonius Tertius’s videos; he was the one who exposed those fake Latin lyrics from Elden Ring someone was peddling a while ago. The lyrics he provides for “Ludwig, the Holy Blade” and “Laurence, the First Vicar” are confirmed and provided by the music producers themselves.
remember when some guy “translated” the “lyrics” from the elden ring boss themes and people made lore posts and videos analyzing their implications when the “lyrics” were actually just meaningless syllables and the guy was just making shit up

this is total conjecture but i do wonder if laurence’s name was meant as an allusion to the wolf man’s main character… it was a 1941 film and one of the first werewolf movies made so it is very possible :)
#bloodborne#laurence the first vicar#it could just be a coincidence but i think bloodborne takes a lot of cues from that film aesthetically :)

Because someone has to do it. Bloodborne
I think I know who sent this. If this is not who I think it is, count me shocked.
Bloodborne is a 10/10/10/1 game. It's music soundtrack is one of my absolute favorite things to listen to - actually listening to it right now "Bloodborne OST (Tone Variation) - Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower Theme" ironically. It is an aesthetic MASTERPIECE and art form with great lore and concept to it. Honestly I like the theme / general exploration of the theme "ignorance is bliss" as well quite a bit. It's game play and combat mechanics is just 10/10 beautiful.
I'm a fictive from a video game, but Bloodborne - if I had to pinpoint a favorite game - would probably be the answer I'd give as my favorite game.
That being said, if you wanted a more elaborate answer / description of my opinion of Bloodborne is that it is a better art form than it is a game and if I were to solely judge it as a GAME and what I value as a game, it might actually have some competitors. But as an ART Form GOD is it breath taking.
The musical orchestration and thematic exploration as well as the overall art and aesthetic and atmosphere is something I can go on and on and on about. Top that off with eldritch horrors and monster / creature design and clothing and gothic shit and it is just 10/10 like amazing.
As a game it can be a bit.... for a lack of better terms at the moment "high brow and pretentious" for a general audience and for leisure playing because 1) its soulsborne, its a hard game but a really fucking good and fair one and 2) the plot and how to get the endings is not clearly handed to you and between those two its not the most easily digestible game - especially if you are going into it casually, so I do have to "deduct" some points in the game category for that but like.... if you like yourself a good challenge and like all the hidden lore and piecing everything together then it is an AMAZING game.
However, if you are unsure about soulsborne games or Bloodborne, I very much do recommend Code Vein as it has a much more overt story line and is decently easier and can give you a good vibe for soulsborne games without thrusting you into it too far out.
As for favorite characters it would probably be Lady Maria or Vicar Amelia. I love those two Girl Bosses. 10/10 Love them. Design wise is really hard. I love Rom he's a precious baby. The Moon Presence is so fucking cool. Our little thinks the Darkbeast Paarl is the cutest thing in the world and a "little puppy". And Lady Maria and Vicar Amelia are just beautiful.
But I think the one that stands out the most to me on a pure visual manner would be Laurence. Like.... I can't get the image of a burning Cleric Beast laying on a giant throne or whatever out of my head as a REALLY badass look.
Also like... confession, I have been wearing bloodborne clothes for a few year in the brain space. At first I didn't mean to wear them but rapidly found I REALLY liked it and now I look like a Bloodborne OC despite being an introject from KH and XIV does not ever let me live it down.

Eileen’s set sure does make me look exactly like her huh.... but I wish she wasn’t dead, I’d take that over having her outfit and weapon this early.... she’s so cool....
Anyway, I was told that there was a door I had missed when descending the pit in the workshop, so I went back to it, and soon saw said door, and after some dying to fall damage, figured out how to get to it....
And found one of the most interesting places so far, and old workshop nearly identical to the dream, filled with interesting things that got me thinking... well first off, I got the doll set, which isn’t strong but her clothes are so pretty!! That’s most important right? I want to dress like that irl too.... And there was an “old hunter bone” near the grave she sometimes stands by, my current thought is that it might be Gehrman’s bone and grave, and that he’s a hunter who’s died but is somehow still spiritually trapped in the dream....? I don’t know what this “Laurence” he was mumbling about is going to do though.....then there was the doll... so there’s a literal doll, yet she seems to be more than just that and has some deep connection to Gehrman (I think?), the most interesting thing was that hair piece I found and gave to the doll, upon which she couldn’t remember anything, but felt joy for the first time in what seemed to be a while... VERY significant, but I can’t yet place my finger on who exactly she is yet....
And the last thing there was a creepy umbilical cord, which I was told to EAT! I haven’t yet since I like to save insight boosting items just in case... I’ll slurp some cord when I need more
I explored more of Cathedral ward, and got the church set (hell yeah some nice churchy clothes, i love the surgical gloves with it) and met Arianna, who told me this wasn’t a place for ladies (guess she’s not into ladies even if my hunter is), and I told her about Oedon, where she too offered to give me blood! But the game wouldn’t let me because I already had special blood from Adella... Sorry Arianna, I promise I don’t care if you’re a prostitute, I’m just not allowed to hoard blood I guess
I found my first brainsucker, who I was told can steal insight!! Excuse me that’s ILLEGAL, they are now my least fave enemy even though I took it down at a distance with my whip (it could take a hit, but wasn’t able to strike me), insight is precious!!! I DO NOT LIKE THE SQUID MAN!!! But i got another twin shard, and was able to upgrade my threaded cane! I’m still using it, I love how it feels, and it fits Augustine’s elegant aesthetic!
A man asked me for the paaaaaaaassssworrrrrrd, but I did not know it! Guess I need to figure out what this adage is..... Oh and I stumbled upon Vicar Amelia, as she transformed into a beast, but I wanted to explore more, so I haven’t really tried to beat her yet (I was also told she’s the next mandatory boss, so I want to wait before moving the story forward)... she shares her theme with the cleric beast?
Where I left off was checking out the area to the right of Amelia, and discovering two hunters, I was doing okay against one, until I was hit by a SHOTGUN! Not cool.... well I’ll deal with that soon~
Ah, and I sometimes will nervously sing when things are quiet and creepy, so I decided Augustine will sometimes sing to herself (probably hymns or something?) when in those dark, quiet areas.... Oh, and she keeps to herself for the most part, but is a polite and rather kind woman.
#bloodborne blogging#i don't mention it much but i realllly like dolls and the doll in bb is so pretty!!! And i want to know who exactly she is....#the workshop was just such an intriguing place!!!#Gehrman come here you have some explaining to do IS THIS YOUR BONE

1. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, god it’s just a fun fight. 2. Oof I haven’t explored them too much. I liked the Isz dungeon because of the electric charge coming from some of the walls. 3. Eileen’s entire outfit. 4. I see there’s this same question for the DLC later, so base game its the Tonitrus. 5. Executioner’s Gloves 6. Vilebloods. Yes hello may I please be a sexy vampire knight 7. Milkweed. Just something about people who play broccoli-heads 8. Eileen the Crow. God what an icon. 9. Full Eileen cosplay 10. I mean, have you seen One Reborn? (nah it’s Maria by a landslide) 11. Noble Dress with Crown of Madness 12. She is friendly and kind. 13. Oh the female Knight’s set, easy. 14. Always have Tonitrus as a 2nd weapon, Ex Gloves, Evelyn, and usually wearing Crowfeather set. 15. I just played through with 99 Arcane and it was really fun. 16. Depraved, or whatever its called in Bloodborne. 17. I’ve only gotten as far as NG+2. I keep making new characters. 18. True ending. 19. I’m sorry but I like Maria so much 20. Rakuyo, see 19. 21. I’ve never done a Beasthood build before and that’s my next project. 22. I go out of my way every file, even if the build doesn’t fit. 23. She’s a frontline worker who didn’t deserve her fate. I wish there was a way to save her from the Choir imposter. 24. Well it must have been lovely in its prime. My first time through Cainhurst was absolute hell. 25. Yes yes yes yes. Only 2 places in the game with background music, and this place has the decency to the reward the player with Make Contact. 26. Hunter of Hunters. GOTTA have that stamina. 27. It was my first Souls game and it introduced me to environmental story telling. I love the rush when it’s a close-call boss fight. And I think the biggest reason is the soundtrack. 28. Fuck. Laurence. But his music is phenomenal so that actually means I like the fight. Uhhhhh true least favorite is probably Celestial Emissary. It isn’t very exciting and I don’t think the music slaps. 29. Do guns count? I think guns count. Don’t like the repeating pistol. I don’t need 2 shots. 30. I always go get the Rakuyo, despite this, I have not gotten better at fighting the twin Shark Giants. 31. Standard ending makes me feel sympathetic towards him. I know he committed atrocities in the Fishing Hamlet, but he clearly regrets it. And he’s been forced to live with all that regret for so long. Fun fight and great music. 32. If I had discovered the Old Blood I would have feared it. RIP to the Healing Church but I’m different. 33. Central Yharnam. It’s the least fucked. 34. Ludwig the Holy Blade. What could be cooler than a feral demon horse who regains their sanity and wields the Holy Moonlight Blade?? 35. No I don’t. They get repetitive after a while. 36. Laurence, the First Vicar. I don’t care that he’s optional and I don’t care that you can cheese him. He is consistently a bigger pain in the ass than Orphan of Kos. 37. Love it. Incredible addition to an already great game. All 5 bosses are exciting and THE MUSIC OH MY GOD. 38. Waste my QS bullets smh. 39. I’m convinced that the old man in the very beginning of the game is actually Oedon and that he pulls you, a relative of Queen Annalise, into the Nightmare of Yharnam. 40. Yeah, gotta co-op through those hellholes. 41. Nah. I don’t invade and I try to avoid the invaders. 42. Pfft. As if. I like my HP stat as is, thank you. 43. Nope 44. I’ve seen a few pages on tumblr and they look very interesting. 45. Almost always. 46. It’s a 4 way tie between Eileen’s Crow mask (because it looks amazing) and the Enlarged Head, Golden Ardeo, and Mensis Cage because they are all just ridiculous. 47. Sadly, I dress for stats. Oh how I long for fashion souls. 48. I think whatever he is he’s just trying to be a good person, saving as many people as he can. Also I’m pretty sure if he was stricken with the Beast Plague he would become a Blood Starved Beast. they look very similar. 49. The aesthetic. 50. Silva- first character and most progression with NG+2. All stats are 40, Eileen set with Rakuyo for life. Arcanine- Most recent playthrough, 99 Arcane. Here on NG+ she’s playing with Kos Parasite only. Ariadne- Vileblood with pink hair. Big DEX and Bloodtinge stats, but not enough HP, haven’t finished the game yet. QWERTY- my poor attempt at a blood lvl 4 run. I haven’t even killed Gascoigne yet. Also the only male character.
