1x09 - Fae Day
Written by: Jeremy Boxen
Directed by: Steve DiMarco
Original Air Date: November 14, 2010
Tumblr media
I’m back, bitches.
There’s like 130 people who follow this blog now, which is crazy. I don’t know why you followed, whether it’s to reblog gifsets, to read/skim the episode blog posts, or because of gay girls. But thank you. I took a long break because real life is a bitch. And also because Lost Girl episode 1x09 sucks.
My plan is to be back permanently and post on a more consistent basis. My goal is to post one episode commentary every Sunday around 5PM EST, give or take a few hours.
As I write this, I am sitting here drinking very strong coffee and eating an underwhelming Walmart blueberry muffin, having just watched 1x09.
Wow, that episode was boring. In fact, I had completely forgotten about it.
The premise is that Bo is upset by the events at the end of last episode—Vex getting away without providing any information on her mom, Lu Ann supposedly being executed—and wants to “take a break” from the Fae, which she does by going to the Dal with Kenzi for a drink, where a ton of Fae are partying. (Okay.)
Tumblr media
It’s a holiday called La Showshang--
Tumblr media
--(no, I am not looking up how it is actually spelled) where Light and Dark Fae call a truce and are allowed to fuck each other. And also they can’t fight. Then a banshee screams and predicts that someone at the party will die, and Bo decides to help out.
Does it sound stupid yet?
No? Okay, then how about this? While Bo and Dyson are off investigating, Kenzi stays behind and randomly develops a crush on this milquetoast motherfucker with no personality.
Tumblr media
So it turns out this guy, Sean, is the one who is predicted to die. Some drama ensues between him and his estranged brother, that is really, truly, very interesting, I assure you, it is super interesting. (It’s not.) Spoilers: the dad did it. Sean dies at the end anyway.
Now that we’ve got the plot out of the way, let’s at least talk about how this episode contributes to the overall arc. Or does it?
Last episode, Trick secretly saved Lu Ann from execution so that he could find out more information about Bo’s birth mom. He hasn’t told anyone that he did this, except Dyson (when asked). Dyson, understandably, is a bit peeved that they are still keeping Bo in the dark about “all this.”
Tumblr media
What exactly is “all this,” you ask? I can’t remember if it’s been revealed in the show prior to now, but Dyson name drops an “Aife” who is on her way to town, so I think it’s safe to say that both Trick and Dyson are aware of who Bo’s birth mother is, and are deliberately keeping it from her. Ah, yes. The most important thing in her life, the thing that haunts her day in and day out, the thing that Dyson literally saw her go apeshit on Vex about and then break down crying about afterwards. They just casually know it, and aren’t telling her. Bo also thinks that Lu Ann is dead, so that’s doubly cruel. Dyson is just as guilty for keeping Bo in the dark as Trick is, but at least he has the decency to be upset about it and insist that they stop doing it.
Trust. What a wonderful, elusive thing. Hm.
Dyson and Trick are cowards and failures.
Trick is like Dollar Tree Giles. Just as much of an asshole, but with less of a personality, and less interesting and likable. Rupert Giles being an asshole works because by the time we realize what a fucking dick he is, we have grown to know him well and care about him, and his assholery is the casual, patronizing, well-meaning kind that makes him extra realistic. It hits hard. I mean, sure, I hate Giles, but I also love Giles for the character he is. Trick is just…I feel like they tried to make him the Giles of Lost Girl, and it falls flat because we have no reason to give a shit about him. He just comes across as a grumpy, neurotic old fuck who is extremely cruel to Bo (someone who is *spoilers* rather close to him) for seemingly no reason.
Dyson: How long are we gonna not tell Bo about this?
Tumblr media
Trick: For as long as we can.
Tumblr media
Great. Nice talking to you, Trick.
Dyson also calls Trick the “Blood King” in this scene, so now we know he is apparently really important.
Kenzi has another run-in with death in this episode. If you vaguely followed the trajectory of this season so far, have you noticed that Kenzi seems to have an interaction with “death,” as a concept, in every other episode? It sure feels that way.
I like that Kenzi’s reaction to finding out Sean is going to die is, “You know what? Fuck no. If you are going to die, you are going to die without regrets.” In her own wise words (or those of Ludacris), regret is fo suckas. Bitch.
Tumblr media
Kenzi’s reaction to death is always rebellion, or at the very least, she is super into the idea of living life to the fullest while you still can. She gives me trauma vibes of, “Death is always around the corner, so I’m always seeking thrills and always trying to live without regrets.”
Sean dies at the end, right in her arms.
Tumblr media
Girl, you knew him for one day.
But it’s still awful. Kenzi has seen too much death already, and she deserves better. Unfortunately, this show is not kind to her. If you’ve seen the next few seasons, you know that this one-off situation is only the first in an ongoing trend—Kenzi’s absurdly horrendous luck with regards to her love life.
Kenzi should be, physically at least, the weakest character. She is the youngest by far. But she always takes the hardest hits.

Bitch

Embry x Reader: Bitch
Warning: N/a
AN: Not my best work, but……
“Bitch” by Bea Miller
***
I hate little bitches. Granted, I am a little blunt, but that’s not my problem if people don’t like the truth. I had just started at Forks High and somehow, I found myself with a group of people on my third day here. I don’t mind, some of them are great people, it’s the other bitches that are bothersome. For example, Mike was hitting on Bella in the most desperate way possible. It was disgusting and I can tell Bella was too nice to say anything.
“Hey, Mike?” I called his attention,
“Yeah Y/n,” he said irritated, bitch you just fucked up.
“You know, I was going to say this the nicest way possible, but because of that attitude, I don’t give a shit. Please, for the sake of all of us, stop flirting with Bella. She is highly uninterested and you’re being a creep. Matter of fact, all of you guys, stop, the girl is too nice to tell you back the fuck up.” I said to all of them. Bella gave me a thankful look, Jessica looked shocked, Lauren looked pissed (like always), and Angela was laughing.
“Oh, what do you know! How are you so sure that we’re all flirting with her?”
“Because the smell of desperation oozes off you guys. End of discussion.” I look over to Bella and Jessica, “Do you have the lab notes from last week. I have no idea what is happening.” I said, ending the conversation. The guys rolled their eyes and called me a bitch.
“Heard that.”
I been runnin' my mouth around the corner Chasin' it down the street I cash in my words like I'm a billionaire But I don't have food to eat And I keep talkin' like I'm taller than the trees But my eyes never see much higher than five feet And I keep on tellin' everyone the truth But maybe that's not the move And everyone wants to hear a strong opinion If it's the same as you And they say honesty is the best policy If that were true, don't think all of my friends would hate me
I wouldn’t say I was a troublemaker, nor a problem starter, just an honest person. I may have gotten detention for standing up for a girl that was getting picked on by Lauren. The next day, I was in my history class minding my business when said girl decided to get me in trouble again. Thankfully, Rosalie Hale was just as irritated with her as I was.
“Keep talking Lauren and you’ll easily regret it.” If hell had a look, it would be the face Rosalie gave her. That shut her up quickly. I looked over at her and bowed my head towards her saying “thanks” and she did the same. She went back to talking to her boyfriend Emmitt and I went back to doodling. At the end of the day, I was walking towards my car when I heard someone call out to me.
“Hey!” I heard behind me. It was Erick, great.
“Yes Erick, how may I assist you?”
“Look, I just need to warn you. You can’t go around acting like you own the place. Being rude and such, that will get you nowhere girl.” He said, in response to this morning when Tyler came in with new J’s. Everyone was amazed, minus a few of us, and he started to act like he was better than everyone for having them.
“You know, you can have nice things and be humble at the same time.” I didn’t call them ugly, but, in guy code, I did. What-the fuck-ever.
“How do I put this nicely…No. Have a good evening.” I said walking away.
Society is suckin' on your dick And since I got a pussy, I'm a bitch And since you are a dude, yeah, you can tell the truth But as soon as I do, I'm a bitch Society is suckin' on your dick And since I got a pussy, I'm a bitch And since you are a dude, yeah, you can tell the truth But as soon as I do, I'm a bitch
There was a time, this guy, he tried to tell me "Men can cheat, women can't" Then he proceeded to ask me out on a date And I fuckin' laughed If you're a woman, you were made to pleasure me But out in public, hide them shoulders underneath
Overtime, Bella, Angela, and I got closer. One day We all went to La Push beach to meet up with some of the kids on the reservation. Angela had a date with Ben and couldn’t make it, so here we are, riding in Bella’s big pick-up truck, on our way to meet up with “Jake.”
It was awkward being the third wheel. Luckily, some other guys came to Jake's garage. One of them was short and kind of tubby and adorable…like a chipmunk. The other was cute as fuck, lanky, but cute with a nice smile. Chipmunk (later to find out his name is Quil), Embry, and I were talking while Jake awkwardly attempted to flirt with Bella. It was a horror show honestly.
“God, it’s hard watching him flirt with her.” Chipmunk said, Embry nodded and I kind of laughed.
“I want to say something. But I’m too amused at this. Anyone have some popcorn?” I say, Embry laughs and agrees.
“We always clown him about it so if we were to do it now, it won’t be the same reaction.” He looks over at me and gives me one of his cute smiles that seems to be thrown my way a lot.
“You just opened the gates of hell, my friend,” I tell him, look towards Bella and Jake and smile.
“Hey, Jake?” I yell towards him,
“Yeah?” awe, the cute puppy….
“Just ask her out.” We all laughed, Bella turned red like a baboon’s ass and Jake hid his face in his hands that were covered in oil.
“Hey, Bella! I like her!” Chipmunk said,
“Yeah, make sure to bring her around more often,” Embry said, sending a grin my way. I smiled at him and looked away. Bella looked at me, shook her head, but still laughed.
I'm that motherfuckin' bitch (If I have to be, I'ma be that bitch) You should be suckin' on my clit (If I have to be, I'ma be that bitch) I said I'm a, I'm a, I'm a bitch (If I have to be, I'ma be that bitch) I dare you, stop me
Months passed and it was up to me to help Bella. Edward left and Jake disappeared on us. When she was dating Edward, Bella pushed everyone away, but I refused to be ignored. Plus, Rosalie liked me, so I was invited to the table. I noticed some things about the Cullen’s; I knew that they weren’t human, and I knew that they had special abilities. I never asked what they were, and they never asked what I knew. Edward read my mind and knew I knew they weren’t mortal but appreciated how I never went out searching. I was told to not say anything.
“Ha! And who would believe me? Plus, not a whole lot of people like me here anyways. Emmett, let me have your fries.”
After Bella’s birthday, they left. It took a while, but Jake and I put Bella back together. But then he left, and that pissed me off. So, here we are, in Bella’s truck on our way to Jake's place. She knew I was just as pissed, and I would have been more pissed if she didn’t invite me. Who would’ve thought that that would be the day that I’d meet, or re-meet, the love of my life?
Society is suckin' on your dick (on your dick) And since I got a pussy, I'm a bitch (I'm a bitch) And since you are a dude, yeah, you can tell the truth But as soon as I do, I'm a bitch Society is suckin' on your dick (on your dick) And since I got a pussy, I'm a bitch (I'm a bitch) And since you are a dude, yeah, you can tell the truth But as soon as I do, I'm a bitch
Watch me (If I have to be, I'ma be that bitch) I said, I'll be that bitch So stop me
Wolves…they’re all wolves and the Cullen’s are vampires. We showed up at Jake’s house and was turned away by his dad. Bella spots a group of giants and runs to themthe stupid bitch.
“Bella! Get back here!” she continues to be a stubborn ass and walks towards the football players. As we get closer, I notice Chipmunk and Embry.
“Chipmunk? Embry?” I call out while Bella yells at ‘ol boy named Sam.
“Uh...Hi Y/n. What are you doing here?” Chipmunk asked nervously. I looked him up and down then looked at Embry and damn nearly fell over. Hot damn, whatever life did to him, I would like to personally thank. He was staring at me with a look of shock and disbelief. Out of nowhere, I hear Sam yell.
“Get back!” I look over and see a pissed off hulk deforming himself. I back up slightly before a pair of arms wrap themselves around me and move me out of the way. Bella runs and, of course, trips, but outcomes Jake who shifts into a goddamn wolf. I watch in disbelief as the two wolves go at it and I can’t say a damn thing. Well, except for…
“The fuck was that shit! How does the Hulk turn into a wolf?” I said, not moving from the arms wrapped around me.
“Jared, Quil, Embry, bring them back to the house.” ‘Ol boy says and just walks off.
“Come on, let's get you somewhere safe.” The body holding me said, I look up and see it’s Embry and I’m not mad.
“Good, cause you and Chipmunk owes me an explanation.” And they did. Jake and crazy boy Paul come back in as if nothing happened and apologizes. They explain to us in short what was going on and what they were.
“So now that, that’s out of the way; and you see me like this. Y/n, can I get another name besides Chipmunk?” Quil asked. I laughed and laughed and laughed.
“No. Stay humble. Remember your roots. Plus, be thankful I didn’t name you squirrel, that was runner up next to hamster.” He looks sad but slightly smiles when the guys laugh and attempt to make fun of him.
“I don’t know why you guys are laughing. I already named Paul the Hulk, Jared your chicken, and Sam is ‘ol boy.” They all looked at me and I heard Embry laugh,
“What about lover boy over here?” Jared asked pointing his chicken leg towards Jake.
“Ha! Which one?” Hulk says, “We all know Jake's love for Bella, but Embry hasn’t stopped looking at Ms. Blunt over here since we were outside.” I look over at Embry, who is looking at me with wide eyes and slowly turns his head towards Hulk.
“Run.” *beat drops* and he takes off while Hulk sprints away going outside.
“Did he just call you Ms. Blunt?”
“Yeah, I kind of like it,” I say, not a bad name. Better than Bitch, but still. “I take it as a compliment.”
“What? How?” I hear an ‘oh God’ coming from Bella who knows why I like it.
“Because, a blunt makes people happy, hallucinate, and is secretive…by law in some states. It’ll trip you out and your reaction would be unknown. All of which is how I inspire to be every day. A fucking blunt bitch.” I smile.

Lend Me Your Sanity
Chapter 5
A month passed slowly in this manner: school, Jasper, gym, home, cook, homework, sleep. Scarlett found solace in this repetition, her mind blissfully occupied with school work and home-life that her anxiety barely had time to appear, especially with the Cullens around. Rosalie and Scarlett became quick friends; Scarlett’s dark sarcasm entertained Rosalie who found herself wanting to talk to Scarlett outside of school. That was something Rosalie had never experienced before with a human; most of them disgusted her and the rest bored her. Rosalie began entertaining herself with the idea of asking Scarlett to visit their home, an idea that appealed to Jasper greatly.
Jasper was happy with the slow pace of friendship he and Scarlett had embarked on; anytime spent with her was welcomed. Her shy nature and anxiety had her unsure of Jasper’s intentions. She cautiously spoke to him, always with a polite and friendly demeanor that could not be mistaken for anything else but friendship. Jasper was eager to further their relationship and pestered Rosalie to ask her over soon. His only response was a roll of her eyes and a demand to stop bothering her.
Scarlett was oblivious to most of this, her thoughts strayed more towards her mental and physical health. She joined a local gym not far from her house and went 5 days out of 7. The physical exertion helped her body to relax and kept her mind clear and calm. Jasper was happy to know she took care of herself, especially when he felt her emotions finally calm after a long day. He found himself often watching her from the woods that lined the gym. He told himself that it was only to ensure her safety and watching her do her glute kickbacks was just a perk. A very nice perk. His family still teased him mercilessly no matter what he said and so, he let his eyes wander.
November had arrived very quickly and Scarlett was delighted that she had survived a month without any incidents. She was starting to believe that her anxiety and depression stemmed from her mother and that, without her, she was essentially cured. She realized how wrong she was simply by a normal bad day.
Scarlett had woken up feeling down, she couldn’t place why or had a good enough excuse to give to her father to let her skip school. She tried hard to shake it off; she played with her dog a bit to get her spirits higher before school and left, forgetting her English textbook on the kitchen table.
The drive to school was filled with Scarlett trying to fight off her pessimistic thoughts, trying to smile through her depression. She made it to school feeling unaccomplished, her thoughts getting worse as she noticed she only had 5 minutes to get to class. She put a fake smile on her face in case she ran into anyone she knew, and quickly made her way to English.
The bell rang just as she entered the door, and with a sigh of relief, she noticed the teacher was nowhere to be seen, and proceeded to sit down next to Rosalie.
Rosalie and her “siblings” knew that Scarlett had a dog, their nose could smell a small trace of mutt on her clothing, although it was very faint. It was a pleasant surprise to them considering any human that had a mutt usually reeked of dog, but Scarlett managed to keep the smell off her. Yet today, Rosalie took one sniff and scrunched up her nose, without meaning to her next words came out sounding harsher than she meant.
“You smell like a dog.” Scarlett’s eyes widen at her words and for a moment she was speechless. Scarlett prided herself on her cleanliness, she vacuumed and swept her house every day and made sure Koko never went on her clean clothes or her bed, the dog had a bed of its own anyways. But, she realized, she played with her dog this morning and didn’t even wash her hands or paid any attention to her clothing.
I-“ Scarlett didn’t know what to say. Rosalie realized at that moment how rude she sounded and made to apologize but Scarlett stood up suddenly, leaving her bag on the desk in front of her.  “I’m going to the bathroom.” She made her way through the row of seats only to stop when she heard a not too quiet whisper.
“I guess you are what you smell like....a bitch.” Scarlett recognized the voice as Lauren, the pretty blonde popular girl that seemed to hate her. To Scarlett, Lauren’s hate was unfounded. She had never even spoken to the girl but found herself at the receiving end of glares, snide comments and hateful whispers. However unfounded Scarlett found Lauren’s hatred to be, to Lauren, Scarlett deserved it.
Lauren’s hate was solely based on jealousy, although she would never admit it. She was jealous that the Cullens so easily accepted Scarlett into their click, especially Rosalie who Lauren herself tried to befriend early on. Lauren thought pretty girls were supposed to stick together but the icy look she received from the more beautiful blonde fuelled her hatred for the Cullens even more. And to see someone else be so easily accepted increased Lauren’s burning hatred to a loathing inferno. She knew she could never take on the Cullens, let alone Rosalie Hale. But, Scarlett was easy prey.
Scarlett scurried out of the classroom, her face red with embarrassment and her thoughts scattered that by the time she got to the bathroom, she had to concentrate hard on her breathing. Her thoughts strayed from embarrassment and instead took a self-hating route. She cursed at herself for not thinking of a comeback or even attempting to stand up for herself.
Pathetic little girl.
Her mother’s voice rang in her mind. Scarlett shook her head to rid the bad thoughts. Her hands gripped the counter tightly and she attempted to control her breathing.
You can do this, you are strong.
If you’re so strong, why didn’t you say anything?
Her mind seem to have a comeback for everything now. She concentrated on washing her hands, dabbing her face with water and then putting some scented lotion on. Looking one more time in the mirror and yet again hating the scared sad girl she saw looking back, she quickly left the bathroom before she had time to think.
The teacher was there when Scarlett came back but, seeing as her bag was already in her seat, he let her in without reprimand. Rosalie looked ready to kill, as if the only thing holding her back was the pen she was gripping tightly in her hand. Her eyes were trained on the back of Lauren’s head, her eyes narrowed to slits. However, upon seeing Scarlett back in the room, her shoulders relaxed and she tore her eyes away from Lauren’s head to  write a small note on her notebook. She slid it over to Scarlett to read.
I’m Sorry.
Scarlett appreciated Rosalie’s apology, most wouldn’t have, and smiled over at her. Rosalie was relieved to see Scarlett held no ill feelings to her, she would hate for them to have a falling out.
“Aright class, take out your textbooks and homework. I’ll pass around the room to collect your essays.” Scarlett dug through her bag, trying to find her english textbook that also held her essay. Mr. Welsh was only a row away when Scarlett remembered leaving her textbook on the kitchen table.
“Fuck.” She cursed gaining the attention of both Rosalie and Mr. Welsh.
“Excuse me?” He asked with an eyebrow raised. Scarlett blushed and apologized.
“I’m sorry, I forgot my textbook at home....it had my essay in it. I can go get it during lunch or...” Mr. Welsh held up his hand for her to stop and her rambling came to a halt.
“And have you do it during your classes? No. You know I don’t accept late work.” Scarlett furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, she swore Lauren had just handed in past homework yesterday.
“But sir-“
“I don’t want to hear it. You’ve had more than enough time to get used to school here. If you can’t handle the work, go ask the counselor to switch your schedule.” Scarlett bristled at the insult to her intelligence, her mouth pressing her normally plump lips into a thin line.
“I’m not stupid, I just forgot it at home. You let other students-“
“Are you talking back to me?” Mr. Welsh interrupted her with a stern look. The confidence Scarlett seemed to gain deflated at that moment.
“No, sir.” She whispered and flinched when loud giggling came from Lauren’s group.
“Good, so it will be a zero for homework and minus 10 on class participation for forgetting your book.” Rosalie interrupted at this moment, her self-control reached its peak. She hated when people got treated unjustly, especially when it people she cared for.
“I’ll share my textbook with her, you don’t have to take away points.” Rosalie spoke with a silky voice, startlingly the young teacher who she had never spoke to in that voice before. He flushed and stuttered before catching himself and clearing his throat.
“I guess that is fine.” He muttered, his eyes roaming Rosalie’s figure before he realized what he was doing and quickly walked to the next row.
“Thanks.” Scarlett muttered. Rosalie gave a small smile to Scarlett, hoping that she would be happier now. However; Scarlett was anything but happy. She hated being called out in class in front of her peers, hated that she was stupid enough to forget her book, hated that she didn't stand up to Lauren, hated that someone else had to save her again, she hated everything. But most of all, she hated herself. She hated that she couldn’t be like other girls and let things roll off of her.
The rest of English class passed by quickly; Scarlett had her head down, doing her work silently and efficiently, all the while her thoughts berated her.
Couldn’t even remember your textbook?
Why would you talk back to a teacher?
Why couldn’t you talk back to Lauren?
Why are you so stupid?
These thoughts bounced around her head and grew more vicious, the bell signaling the end of class was the only thing that broke through the haze.
“Hey are you alright?” Rosalie asked while she packed her bag. She noticed how Scarlett seemed to shrink into herself all during class and hoped that she wasn’t beating herself over it. Rosalie could relate, after the incident she berated herself for almost everything that went wrong, even when it wasn’t her fault.
“Yea, I’m fine.” Scarlett answered quickly, her voice cracking slightly as she tried to calm herself down. Lauren’s group giggled again, their eyes trained on Scarlett.
“I’m going on ahead. I’ll see you for French.” Scarlett spoke quickly, her eyes getting misty as she overheard Lauren whisper loudly
“Oh my god, is she going to cry?”
Rosalie could only watch as Scarlett practically ran out the room, her heart going out to the girl. Her sympathy only lasted momentarily as her eyes narrowed at Lauren. With a calm that only a predator could master, Rosalie got up and slung her bag over her shoulder before approaching Lauren’s group, all of whom were about to leave. Lauren was surprised to see Rosalie walk over to her, however; her hope that she was coming over for a friendly chat diminished once she saw the deadly glare on her face.
“I would be careful if I were you.” Rosalie hissed. Lauren felt the color drain from her face and before she could think of a reply, she was gone.
Scarlett’s hopes for a calming music session was diminished once she sat down at the piano. A pop quiz was announced, which included a paper test and a recital of whatever piece they were practicing at the time. Although the paper test was easy, the recital part only furthered Scarlett’s depression. Her hands were shaking from nervousness and her mind was so focused on not messing up that she messed up even more. Edward could only sit back and listen to the self-loathing comments Scarlett thought to herself. He discreetly texted Alice to watch out for anything that might set her off today, with a mention to maybe not say anything to Jasper. Jasper was sure to over react and Edward wasn’t sure how Scarlett would handle it with her mental state at the moment. Alice replied that she would and music class passed with Scarlett feeling even more sad about herself.
Art class luckily calmed Scarlett down, she concentrated fully on her sketch that by the end of class she felt a little bit happier. French class however took her even further down.
Lauren was also in her French class and she decided to ignore Rosalie’s warning. French class always started with an activity. Today’s was “write three past tense statements.” And to read them out loud. Scarlett was oblivious to the evil look Lauren was giving her and focused on her own work. It wasn’t until Lauren was reading her statements aloud that she realized most of the class was giggling at her.
“Here are my statements. Elle sentait le chien (she smelled like a dog). Elle a pleuré comme un bébé (She cried like a baby). Personne ne l'aimait (No one liked her).” Scarlett felt her face ignite as all of Lauren’s friends giggled at her. The teacher had no idea that these things were being said about her and instead gave Lauren full credit and continued with the lesson. Scarlett stayed quiet for the rest of the lesson, tears forming in her eyes as Rosalie fumed behind her.
Scarlett was tempted to skip lunch, her nerves and depression took away her appetite but Rosalie wouldn’t take no as an answer and practically dragged her to the table. Jasper’s smile diminished as he felt his mate’s less than happy emotions. Her normally beautiful smile was strained and her eyes watery, as if she was on the verge of crying. His first instinct was to ask what happened but when he was about to speak, Alice simply grabbed his shoulder and shook her head. And they all learned to listen to Alice when she said no. So instead, he stayed quiet and watched as Scarlett sat down at the table, placed her headphones on, and laid her head on the table.
Jasper found that it was getting easier to control Scarlett’s emotions the more he spent around her and could usually calm her down without effort. Today however, he couldn’t manipulate them at all. No matter how hard he tried to make her happy, or calm, or even numb, her emotions stayed the same. He clenched his fists in frustration; here he was, practically a hand-made solution to his mate’s emotional problem and he couldn’t help her. Pressing his lips into a line, he exerted most of his energy to force exhaustion on her and was pleased to see her eyes flutter shut and hear her breathing even out.
“What happened?” He growled out when he was sure she was asleep. Rosalie looked shamefully for a moment before her eyes turned to slits.
“I said something that came out wrong and Lauren decided to take it to the next level.” Rosalie muttered, her eyes narrowed further as she caught Lauren’s eyes from across the lunchroom. The lesser beauty quickly looked away from the angry blonde. Rosalie smirked in triumph before she turned her gaze back to Scarlett, her eyes softening as she brushed her hair back behind her ear. “Then the teacher decided to be a hypocritical asshole to her about her homework too.”
“She looked worn down in music, her thoughts were... really bad” Edward didn’t know how else to put it without worrying Jasper even more than he already was. Jasper could only clench his jaw and stare at his mate.
“Emmett, Alice. Watch over her in gym for me.” He ordered more than asked. The two vampires nodded quickly in reply and Jasper, satisfied with their agreement, took away the cloud of exhaustion he put around Scarlett and patiently waited for her to wake up.

Let the Dream Descend
Tagging → Zach (Mentions of @laurenlansing, @mr-isaac-hale and others)
Time Frame → February 13, 2017
Summary → He really shouldn’t have fallen asleep with the TV on.
“Zach?”
“Hey buddy.”
“Zachhhhh.”
“Dude, let’s go.”
“You were supposed to kiss me, Zach.”
“We should watch a zombies movie.”
“Why didn’t you kiss me?”
With a gasp, Zach jolted awake, the bowl of popcorn that had been resting on his chest now laying in a mess on the floor. Sweat trickled down his forehead as he sighed, rubbing a hand down his face before running shaky fingers through his hair.
“The hell was that.” He muttered to himself, soon getting up to start picking up the pieces of popcorn that were now laying all over the floor and beanbag. Before he could do much else, however, he heard a low creaking noise. Tired eyes went wide as he watched the door to his dorm room slowly open. The hallways glowed faintly of red and what looked like smoke seemed to be billowing out to greet his bare feet.
“What the...”
Zach grabbed his phone from off the beanbag and turned on the flashlight to it before stepping out into the hallway. The glow seemed to be coming from down around the corner. Part of him wanted to go check out to see what was happening and the other part of him was telling him that, NOPE, he should get out of there right now. As he turned to go back inside, he heard something that made him stop dead in his tracks.
A voice.
“Do you trust me?”
Blinking in confusion, the young man made his way down the hall, phone held up to try and see if anything was going to jump out and grab him. What? He’d seen too many horror movies with Isaac. He was prepared, okay. As he turned the corner, he half expected to see Satan or something, what with the red ambiance and smoke billowing from seemingly every corner. But what greeted him was something completely different.
Lauren.
There she was, standing in the middle of the dance floor holding a red rose and wearing her red dress. The very same red dress she’d warn to the Valentine’s Day dance. The very same dance that he’d asked her to because he’d... Liked...
Zach stopped mid thought, looking down at himself only to see that the phone was no longer in his hand, that his feet were no longer bare and that he was in the same suit he’d warn to the dance. As his gaze focused upwards once more, Zach found Lauren directly in front of him once more. His right hand found the small of her back, pulling her close to him as his left found purchase with her right.
The music slowly began to build, the only thing that was distinct in his mind, save for Lauren. He couldn’t even really hear people singing, it sounded so far away. Except for the music. He led them on the dance floor, in a more dominant manner than he ever had when he danced. It seemed that all previous notions of being fearful of dance had fled from his mind. Before this could go too far, the music shifted and he could vaguely make out a girl singing somewhere from the stage.
Lauren was now staring at him directly, moving with more fluidity and grace than he knew she possessed. The woman who was singing seemed to get more passionate and it was then that something seemed to catch his eye. Turning his head slightly, he caught someone walking around the edges of the dance floor, hands behind their back.
Isaac.
The boy’s eyes were on him and Zach didn’t know how to feel because Lauren was demanding his attention, demanding to be remembered. Demanding, demanding, demanding. Before he could even think about what was happening, the music began to swell and Isaac was right next to him. Nina was dancing with Isaac but he still wasn’t looking at her, wasn’t acknowledging his partner.
The pace seemed to pick up, well-timed dips and spins were added in as time seemed to fade away. He realized as he was spinning Lauren once, twice, three times, that the man and women on the stage were singing together now. His heart pounded in his chest as Zach dipped Lauren, right hand dangerously high on her thigh as he held her there for a moment, feeling Isaac’s eyes on him.
As he pulled her back up, the music began to get softer, sweeter. The man was singing now on stage and Zach found himself pulling Lauren to him, hands on her hips as her arms wrapped around his neck. The breath caught in his throat as he looked down at her.
“Sometimes... A romance is better.”
“Yeah.” Lauren locked eyes with him before letting eyelids flutter shut as she leaned upwards. “Romance is better.”
His nose brushed against hers, their breaths intermingling and he could almost taste her lips as his eyes closed. It was then that something went horribly wrong. The music became frighteningly loud and Lauren was no longer before him. Instead she was being pulled away by a hooded figure, screaming for Zach.
“Lauren!” Zach called out, fingers just managing to brush against hers before she was pulled into the now swirling red canopy that seemed to be slowly engulfing the room.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and Isaac was there, tie hanging loosely from his neck with Nina nowhere in sight. Zach’s face turned up in confusion, not at all sure what was going on. The music continued to grow louder in his ears and he could faintly hear the sounds of screaming and something shattering. He didn’t know where it was coming from. Could only smell smoke, feel the heat of flames that were getting closer and closer to the two of them.
“Zach, we have to go!”
“But she was right there! She was about to... We were about to--”
“You got to let her go man. Don’t you want someone who knows you better than anyone? Don’t you get it, Zach? I’m the one here beside you. She left.” Isaac seemed to plead, tugging at Zach’s arm. “I’m still here!”
Zach turned to look back at Isaac, the flames rushing towards them quicker by the second. Despite what he felt in his chest for Lauren, something far stronger than what he’d felt was making him grab onto Isaac’s outstretched hand.
“Okay.”
Isaac smiled at him for one seemingly bright moment before the flames engulfed his body and all that was left was the hooded figure. Zach recoiled instantly, dropping the shadowy figure’s hand.
“Who are you?” He cried out, the room swirling with a heat he had never felt before. “Why are you doing this?!” All that he could hear was the maniacal laughter then blinding pain as the flames finally touched his skin.
“Zach!”
With a shout, Zach woke up, flinging himself off the bean bag and landing face first on the floor. A movie played in the background, something that must have come on the channel after his own had finished. A man was singing and looking angry as he led a woman somewhere. No thanks.
Groaning, Zach turned the TV off and looked at one of the kids that lived on his hall who apparently had barged into the room to make sure he was okay.
“Hey man. Sorry, I just... Had the weirdest dream.”
The other boy rolled his eyes and shut the door but not before calling something out over his shoulder.
“Whatever, just fucking stop screaming all right? Some of us have tests tomorrow.”
Zach nodded, shaking his head as he stood from the floor, his body aching from the sleeping position he’d clearly succumbed to for the last god knows how long. As he tried to remember the dream, it slowly slipped away from him, as all dreams do when you try to remember their details. All that he could remember was laughter and flames.
Shrugging, Zach grabbed his phone and headed to go take a shower. He needed to get his mind off of the dream and he needed to look halfway decent before Isaac got back. A cheesy grin slid on his face at the thought of the boy who he’d fallen for. As he left the room, the door slammed on his way out, knocking something off onto the floor behind him.
Something that once held significance to him before the dance.
Something that looked a lot like a single red rose.
