Friendships are what make life hilarious. Every moment I’ve lived, my friends made it better. I still remember laughing in class for hours over absolutely nothing—just a single glance was enough to send us spiraling. And on the playground? Of course, everyone had my back... because I was awesome. JK, because we were friends.

I always admire people who have those childhood best friends—the ones they’ve been through every phase with, survived all the messy, dramatic breakdowns, and still stuck together. Personally? I’ve had exactly two "best friends" in my life, and after that, I vowed never again. It’s not even dramatic at this point—it’s just factual.

Maybe it’s because of how my childhood friendships broke off, but I kind of just... accepted that everyone is temporary. At least in my life. Maybe you’ve figured out how to make people stay, but me? Yeah, I don’t have those expectations. Like, sure, we’re laughing together now, but don’t tell me we’re going to the same college and making lifelong memories—I already know how that story ends. Spoiler: we won’t.

And this constant process of making new friends? Exhausting. As an introvert at heart (who has somehow mastered the art of fake extroversion), I truly despise meeting new people. Like, for what? Just so they can turn into strangers again? Hard pass. I’ve learned that friendships should always be treated as a limited-time experience—live in the moment, no future plans. The minute you start choosing a path just because a friend is on it? Tragic.

When I started high school, none of my previous friends came along. It forced me to be independent—walking alone, music blasting, juice in hand, eyes glued to my phone because... well, men exist and I’m not here for accidental eye contact with old creeps who think looking up is an invitation. Eventually, I found friends who lived nearby, and my social life became a full-time job in manipulation. Convincing my friends to come to school, then guilt-tripping others to skip so I wouldn't be alone? A true skill. And you know what? It worked.

Friendship makes you dependent, sure. But is that a bad thing? Not really. It’s fun while it lasts. People come and go—it’s inevitable. The only thing that matters is the memories. No regrets, no attachments. I once read that when people drift apart from eachother, because one of them has learned lessons the other hasn’t, so they move in different directions. And honestly, that’s fine

So yeah, maybe everyone is temporary. But the overthinking about it? That’s forever. 😌✨
