IF REN WAS A MYTHOLOGICAL SEA CREATURE WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
✦゜ANSWERED: AAAAAA I'M SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY, BUT REN WOULD EITHER BE A MERMAN OR RYUJIN INSPIRED SEA SERPENT!! ^^
I will always consider Winndy's version of Mer Ren as canon — but I've received a few asks in the past for my own personal take on a mythical sea-creature Ren, so I'll drop a few headcanons under the cut for those who are interested!!
On one hand, [REDACTED] would have a very Ryujin-like/dragonesque appearance to pay homage to his Japanese heritage: with a long, razor spiked tail, sharp teeth, large claws for nails, and a daunting size of 15+ feet.
But on the other, Ren would also 100% be a koi fish/axolotl inspired sea creature!! Like.. look me in my eyes and tell me this lil guy isn't Ren shaped... :( And if you've seen his tattoo refs, then you'll understand the koi fish reference >:3c
Similar to normal, human Ren; his scaly counterpart is just as — if not more — cutthroat and deadly. While his tail is normally a dark, multicoloured shade of onyx, Ren will often hunt down others of his kind, pluck their scales torturously slow, and wear them to appeal to Angel(fish): his landwalking obsession.
He's curious by nature, so if Ren finds out your favourite colour, he's definitely going to wear it around you all the time. And if you have a preference for a certain texture or shimmer for the scales, then he'll meticulously seek out more to add to his collection.
Ren's kind communicate via otherworldly clicks and trills, and it's honestly really creepy to hear when you're alone at sea during the cover of night. Like imagine hearing eery clicking sounds that contrast the soft lulls of waves, before it goes hauntingly silent — followed by the scrape of sharp nails against wood and a thump of something very large landing onto the deck.... Teehee
Winndy's version of Mer Ren is more siren-like with how they lure Angel in with their voice, but my version of Mer Ren uses a different approach. When in the water, he can release an invisible toxin that gradually relaxes/numbs your body and puts his prey into a trance.
He essentially Pavlov’s you into thinking that being in his presence feels safe and relaxing dfjgfjdg Just like how normal Ren gaslights you into thinking he's docile and harmless.
Since he's loosely inspired by Ryijun mythology, you can assume that Ren has the ability to transform himself into a human as well. So even on land, you're not safe from him ^^
100% has eaten a human before, and will do it again without hesitation (they won't ever eat you though <3)
I have more, but I don't wanna take the spotlight away from Winbae's Mer Ren anytime soon ^^ But if you've made it this far, then I really encourage you all to check out @14-blubblubs-wif-yoo!! You can also get a Mer Ren easter egg in the 14DWY demo by making your name "Winndy" or "Alian"!! >w< I love this feesh with all my heart and I'm so grateful to Winndy for creating him
#Blub Blub Ren supremacy#But lmao Sea Ren and Mer Friend scavenging around on the ocean floor because Friend glows hgjgshjgs#A lil nightlight... A glowstick if you will /t#💌 — answered.#💖 — 14 days with queue.#💜 — 14dwy misc.#💜 — blog canon.#to be tagged later

Hi! Your edit for Day 8: Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suruis is really cute!! Would you please make a tutorial for it?
Hi, anon! Thank you!! So glad you like it. (o˘◡˘o)
And sorry for the late reply. Please check the layout tutorial under the cut for this POST.
So you can follow the steps easily, I uploaded the PSD file HERE.
These will be the layers of the file upon opening:
The SINGLE BOX folder is for the GIF with one image. I turned the visibility off since I wanted to focus on the triple image tutorial. Either way, you will do the same actions for the single box and triple box. If you will use the single box, just turn the visibility on and turn off the TRIPLE BOX and COLOR SWATCHES ELLIPSES folders.
In my original post, I used a pattern and clipped it on the RECTANGLE BG (which is a rectangle shape) but I did not include it on the PSD file because the pattern is not mine. You can use whatever pattern you would like or simply change the rectangle shape's color. To do so, double-click the RECTANGLE BG icon then change the color.
Expand the folder to use the TRIPLE BOX layout:
For the boxes (TOP, MIDDLE, and BOTTOM), I used the rectangle tool with the following properties on the left side. Then I added Drop Shadow effect for a 3D-ish visual effect using the settings below:
Feel free to change this setting according to your preference.
The SAMPLE IMAGES will be replaced by your GIFs [if you will use GIFs instead of images]. To add GIF, you need to make sure that your GIF file is using VIDEO timeline instead of FRAME timeline and that it is converted to a SMART OBJECT. [It must be a smart object so you can clip it on the boxes.]
Once you added your GIF/image to the PSD file, make sure that it is one layer above the BOX where you want to place it. Once placed, right-click on the GIF/image, then select Create Clipping Mask.
If you want to move the image inside the box, make sure that you have selected the image file. If you want to move both the box and the image inside it, select both layers.
Do the same actions on the MIDDLE and BOTTOM BOXES. The same actions also apply to SINGLE BOX.
Next would be the COLOR SWATCHES ELLIPSES:
I already converted the ellipses to smart objects on the PSD file. To change the colors of the ellipses and other settings, you need to open the smart object by double-clicking the icon. Once opened, another file should open with a .PSB filename.
To change the colors of the ellipses, just double-click on the individual ellipses layers icons. You can also change the settings by going to properties:
Once done with the changes, just save it (CTRL+S), then close the PSB tab. The changes should successfully reflect on the PSD file.
NOTE: The TOP ELLIPSES and BOTTOM ELLIPSES are the same smart object. The other one is simply the flipped version of the other. So any changes made to a single smart object will also reflect on the other smart object. If you want to have different colors for the TOP and BOTTOM ELLIPSES, you need to copy the smart object instead. To do this, right-click the smart object, then select New Smart Object via Copy.
This means that you are trying to create a totally new smart object that will retain its own settings and not be affected by your other existing copied smart objects.
That's it for this tutorial! I hope I explained it clearly but if there are issues with the file I shared or questions on how to use it, feel free to send me an ask or a message.

Okay okay so hear me out what If dazai came to reality in desi readers houseeeeeee
Masterlist
What a Reality
"Uthja Y/n! Late ho rahi hai teri bus ane wali hai! JALDI UTH!"("Wake up Y/!! You're going to be late, your bus is about to come!! Wake u quickly!!") Your aunt screamed from the kitchen packing your lunch as you hurried out of your bed and quickly freshen up
Running down the stairs as you hurriedly ate your breakfast as your aunt scolds you "Itni late karti hai ye ladki! Ab mein nahi hongi ghar pe toh kaise samhale gi!" ("What should I do with this lazy girl! I'll be out of here how will you manage it?!")
"Sorry, Sorry." You apologized as you hug her and run off to take the bus.
As you arrived at your university, you glanced out the window and spied the same landscape; the same trees, road, same people, same rumors, and subjects.
Being bored with all this, you sighed and closed your eyes as the bus halted and your friend got on board and sat next to you.
"Aur bata kaisi hai?" ("So how are you?") She asked as you sighed and replied
"Kuch nahi bas neend a rahi hai"("Nothing just sleepy") You replied telling her the half-truth, it was true you were tried and sleepy but not because of the morning there was just nothing new to do it was all just waking up then go to university study for 8 hr and then get back home then study...It was just an endless loop of burden...You just wished for something interesting or a miracle to happen.
Going to university you saw the only thing you have probably not noticed all these years and thought,
'Koi naya mohala bana hai kya? Yaha kab se barigates lagne lage?' ('Is there a new collony setteling? There were never so many barigates here?')
Looking at the mysteriously abandoned road with a few buildings still in construction.
The day was just starting and you already felt drained out of boredom no one in your class came today all your friends were home and you just felt like an idiot for coming to university.
It was your game period as you decided to take a risky decision very learn you were going to bunk classes.
You packed your bag and walked out of the class when everyone was outside. You were never really in the limelight of the school so even if you go on a bunk no one would notice, it was the perfect time you had the keys to your home and some money to take a rikshaw or cab home.
Somehow you snuck out of university honestly the best thing you have ever done!! You were finally doing something new and you loved it, the excitement in you was growing as every second passed by. You were walking towards the main road when you found the same ally that was under construction. The classic shady ally that could be possessed. But, despite being scared, you followed your curiosity like the old saying goes, 'curiosity killed the cat'.
You walked towards the lonely ally as shivers ran down your spine looking at the chilly atmosphere. Looking around you saw a little glowing stone it almost looked like gold as you picked it up wanting to inspect it even more.
Big mistake, huge even. Bright lighting immersed you as you closed your eyes shut due to the bright light. You felt a weight on you as you fell to the ground. You open your eyes to look at what or rather who was over you as you find a young man of around age 17 over you. He had formal clothing on with bandages soaked in blood and mildly wavy, short, dark brown hair, and narrow dark brown eyes with one eye covered with a bandage.
This made you flustered as you pushed him back and scooted to the side. Waking the boy as he looked around him. Confused he mumbled something which you couldn't understand.
"Where am I?" He mumbled to himself as you let out "Huh?".
His attention then shifted towards you as he slowly stands and gives you a helping hand in standing up.
'D-Dazai! Dazai Osamu kaha se ya yaha pe! Mami sahi kaha rahi thi mein bahut sone lagi hu!! Mein pagal ho rahi sahi mein!!' ('D-Dazai! How is Dazai Osamu here? Aunt was correct I shouldn't sleep this much!! I'm going mad!!!') Wild thoughts ran through your mind as the chain was broken with a deep voice.
"Hello lady, Can you tell me where I am? I have no clue how I got here?" Dazai said in Japanese which you couldn't understand as your sweat dropped.
"Speak English?" You asked in short as Dazai sighed and replied in English
"My English not very good, sorry."
"Can you tell me where I am?" In broken in English as he asked as you immediately replied
"India, You are in India."
"India? How..."
"I don't know..." You looked at him as you saw his arm bleeding soaking his sleeve and bandages
"He bhagwan! Your arm is bleeding! Let's get you to the hospital...Are nahi voh bhi nahi kar sakte mere pas na toh id hai na hi mein iski koi Id proof de sakti hu..." ("Oh no can't do that either, I don't have my Id or his Id or documentation.")
You were just mumbling to yourself as you saw Dazai just questioning your behavior making you think he was judging you as you shuffled and quickly turned towards him and gestured towards him.
"Will you come with me?" You asked him slowly making sure he got what you meant as he just nodded.
As you both took off towards your home taking the fasted transport in India the rickshaw.
You both were silent thinking random thoughts and looking outside.
Dazai's mind was raised with so many questions.
'How am I here? This is so different from anything back home...People have no abilities...How can get out? I guess let's just follow this girl till I'm able to find a way back home....'
While you had your questions 'How is he here? I'm sure Dazai Osamu was either supposed to be dead or just in anime...How am I going to explain this to my Aunt...What am I going to do...Let's just get his injuries fixed first...'
But both of you had the same question in mind...
'Will I/he be able to go back?'
You two arrived home you quickly went to get your phone looked for a Japanese translator and typed as the translator spoke
"Please make yourself at home...I will get the first aid kit for your wounds." It said as Dazai shook his head making you tilt your head as he spoke in the app in Japanese.
"No need to worry it's fine." He said as you shook your head violently writing as the AI spoke
"Please, it's the least I can do, If you are not comfortable I'll leave to get you some comfortable clothes and leave the first aid here for you to use it and the bathroom open for you to shower."
Dazai listened and sighed as he nodded.
When you left to get him clothes he looked around the house finding your pictures in your room as well as many thick books university labeled by your name and placed in a column you named "b.tech college books".
He freshened up as he was thinking of the possibilities of what caused this problem. He came out of the bathroom patching his wounds as he wrapped a towel around his waist. Hearing the sound of clicking the door as you entered your apartment.
"Vaise toh iske kafi fayde bhi hai at least mujhe bore toh nahi hona padega akele vaise hi ab Mami mere sath rahengi nahi." ("Well, this is also great at least I won't be lonely when aunt won't be living with me") You mumbled as you entered the room and looked at Dazai who only had a towel on as bandages wrapped around his chest. You owlishly dropped the bad as heat rose to your cheeks as you slammed the door blushing.
"Here are the clothes!! Please make yourself at home!!" You screamed from outside.
"Eh?"
Both of you were now sitting at the dining table as you had made some sandwiches for Dazai forcing him to eat since he refused to do so.
The silence was thinking as you took your phone and typed as the AI spoke again.
"Do you know how you got here?"
Dazai shook his head saying no. as he spoke in the microphone.
"No but I do know what is happening, I looked around and found that I have time-traveled or something like that. My name is Dazai Osamu. I'm from Japan though I think this was a doing of an ability user but...how did his ability work on me? So! It's out of my head! Since I have no place to go will a lovely lady like yourself commit a double suicide with me?" He asked holding her hand as she violently shook her head.
"No, How about I teach some of the native languages here since you don't know when you'll be going or if you'll be going back. So at least you would know how to communicate with people and for the place well you can live with me. How does that sound?" The AI was interpreted as offering the boy your help.
"Will he be able to back? Will you tell him that he is not a real human? That he is just fictional? That all his pain and suffering is just meant for entertainment...Or will you take advantage of this to cure your loneliness and boredom...Will this decision chage the anything?"

(Dec. 4th, Sunday)
Alexander
He dried his hair with the towel. Thanks to the guest he had after his workout, his usual routine had been thrown off.
"He's been getting worse as of late." The sweet voice in the other room yelled.
He had his door open to hear her easier. He slipped his uniform on and got his glasses to finally see. He was about to leave the room when he noticed his bed wasn't made. He went to fix it. I hate that I woke up late today.
"I don't know why he's antsy as hell!" Alexander groaned back.
Everything in the apartment at the moment was human-sized. Alexander had a seal that would size shift nearly all his furniture, and it wasn't enabled.
He finished his bed and entered the rest of the apartment. He glossed over everything in search of Sasha. She was on the dining room table right next to Wenna.
"You know why," Drake's sister said with a hiccup of aggravation.
Alexander patted his pockets for his wallet, keys, and phone. They were there.
"It bothers the hell out of me, too," he admitted, walking to her. "After so many fucking years, he showed up again," why can't that psycho leave his ass alone? Alexander got the urge to punch something thinking about it. "But Drake knows we don't have to fucking handle it anymore either. And that training's only hurting himself."
She peered up from her hoodie. She always wore something cute and colorful, nothing so baggy like the gray hoodie, nor did she ever hide her curly black locks like today.
He felt her eyes try to reach out, so he kept himself within her range and at her side.
"Mom's been busy with territories being established, and Dad's been trying to help Ulysses and Charletta with their decision," Wenna lowered her head and pet Sasha, who lay on the table, "I tried talking to Drake, but he won't listen to me. I was one of the people that made it worse..."
"Cut that out," Alexander growled and narrowed his eyes, "he doesn't hate you for it. You or Ulysses." He settled slowly. "He understands, but I think-"
Alexander's chest and scar hurt, and his head throbbed. He grabbed a hold of it all and crushed it back inside.
He cleared his throat while Sasha walked near the table's edge next to Alexander. "He's vengeful. He wants to prove himself and make up for what he did."
"Make up for what!" Wenna exclaimed, scanning over Alexander after. She settled back down. "I'm sorry." She put her hands to the side of her head. "Have you tried talking to him?"
"Like he'd listen to me," Alexander said—his fingers stroked through Sasha's warm, comforting fur. He would have hugged her tightly if Wenna wasn't here.
"You know he does."
Alexander exhaled. It's still tricky. He's falling back into his old habits. And anytime I remind him, we get into a fight.
"I tried asking Koi for advice, and Ace asked about you guys." Wenna let her arms plop onto the table before her, "Ace also offered moral support. So, you could take him on your shopping trip on Wednesday."
"Who said we're going shopping?"
He unintentionally got Wenna to chuckle, "You always do. As soon as December starts and you're free, you always drag one of us along." She lifted her finger up and poked in his direction.
He grumbled, "Yeah..." For a second, his mind sent him back to the wedding. It all went by so fast, and most of it burned. But the distinct memory of Lynette's crying face entered his head. It was the only time he even spoke about Mara after everything that happened too.
Ace left her crying, didn't he? Alexander never asked Lynette, not that he thought it was his place. He barely knew her...
He bit his tongue, forget it, stop thinking too much.
Eventually, Alexander replied, "Invite him." His help may not be as much as you expect it to be.
...
Lynette
My body ached. It had been more than a week since I started training. I'd get my full certification after a month.
I was required to learn the basics, then move on to the weapon I'd have registered. And later this week, I'd be learning how to use it.
It could create powerful explosive blasts using the users' energy, either firing them out or upon impact. I had to learn how to control and understand when to unleash it, how much I was putting into it, and how not to drain my energy to the point where I'd pass out or blow myself up.
Both of those outcomes scared me. Though, I'd hate to have to use it on someone in general.
I adjusted my hat as I walked to the pizzeria. My hair was especially frizzled because I didn't have time to refix it after training. I felt relieved for it to still be a weekend. Claudia's here. Zilla's off. Drake's here, and- the one who invited me was here too.
In terms of our games, things remained pretty much the same this past week.
That doesn't mean I don't feel out of a loop. I felt like I was missing something.
Lev was even more "Lev," Alexander seemed to be a little more on edge, and Drake consistently kept coming to work like he was on the verge of death.
He never answered me when I asked. Yesterday, he even told me to drop it.
I sluggishly went down the hall and noticed the two, Drake and Alexander, sitting across from each other. They both glared at one another, neither saying a word. And oddly, like Drake, Alexander looked worn out today, too.
Oh great.
"Afternoon," I said, and they both flicked their heads in my direction simultaneously. Freaky. I felt like their eyes were trying to pick me apart like a specimen on a table. "Wh-what's up?"
"Hey," Drake said.
He resumed his pissed-off demeanor once his eyes fell back on Alexander. I didn't want to look, yet I knew Alexander hadn't turned away.
"Did I do something?" I asked him without meeting his gaze.
The glasses-clad male grumbled, "Same as always."
I muttered between tight lips, "So nothing at all."
He turned back to Drake with an eye roll, "You're making my life more difficult."
"Me! You're the one that makes my life harder!" I huffed. What have I done?
"You call that hard," Alexander's gruff tone came out, "I'll show you hard."
Drake's aggravation died out. The hall suddenly burst with his laughter, "What the hell? Are you guys flirting?!"
"WHAT?!" I clamored loudly. I didn't pick up the joke.
"Shut up," Alexander said, he realized it first. "You fucker, you know what I meant." He put his face in his hands.
Drake snickered and pestered him, "Remember when I said you should think before you say something."
"SHUT UP."
I ran the words in my head repeatedly until it finally clicked. I glanced at Alexander, and I almost turned to leave the pizzeria. Like that would ever happen.
...
Alexander
"Thank you, and have a great day," Alexander said to the woman he handed off the pizza to. His customer service smile dropped partially.
His eyes drifted beside him. It's such a pa- He noticed Lynette holding her finger.
"It'd be nice to have healing like a magus," Lynette told herself.
He glanced around—there was only one other family inside the pizzeria. He made sure they weren't looking his way.
His hue glowed their brighter blue and got rid of the cut she had while folding up pizza boxes. "It would be nice."
Surprised, she craned her head up to look at him and said, "Thank you."
The way she looked at him was different than usual. He glanced away, "Yeah."
"And does your body not heal itself like a Magus?"
Alexander smirked half-heartedly. "No. I didn't even get that trait from being a Wendigo either." There were too many thoughts boiling like a hot pot in his head. He couldn't stand it. He tried to stick to magic, "That's one reason why I excel at Assistance magic."
"Oh, so the opposite of Wicks."
I am? "That makes sense. Your crazy ass brother has such a fuckin' high defense he shouldn't have to worry about getting hurt. Unless it's by curse magic." Alexander grumbled.
"He's not crazy—he's nice, caring, and sweet," Lynette said, her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. It was the first time he saw that look on her, too.
He's always looking for every little excuse to fight me. Alexander thought. There was a silence between them before her curiosity returned.
She still made a few boxes with him while they idly waited for customers. "So assistance magic is good at countering curse magic?"
Alexander added to the stack. His stomach growled slightly but felt calmer when he talked about this, "Assistance magic is good at countering things that affect the body. That's what curse magic generally does." He saw Viola approaching to clean behind them, "The spell Disrupt helps against things like someone's voice." He nodded in her direction.
"It's passive," Viola sassed, her bleach blonde ponytail whipping over with her smile. "I don't mean to use it most of the time."
Lynette moved on to asking Viola questions. Alexander's mind tuned out and fled to the conversation with Wenna this morning. And how he neglected to eat. I should have told Wenna to hold that thought.
Now, he couldn't stop himself from his desires. He hadn't even won much as of late. And Lev annoyed him over his victories against him and Lynette. He's such a showy, smug prick.
It was almost time for break, and Viola had finished cleaning around them. Alexander was so caught up in his thoughts that he spoke plainly, "Let me win today."
Lynette snapped to him, finally wearing an expression he recognized. Preyish nervousness. "I take the bets to win."
"That's why I asked," he refused to look at her directly again. "It's my day anyway. It's not like I'm gonna give you something easy."
"I'd rather try than give up," Lynette replied.
"And I'd rather eat." Alexander knew he was under no obligation to play these games. So why do I?
"How about this, anytime we are sitting up here together, you can take my energy-" Lynette said.
Alexander nearly jumped at the opportunity, but she interrupted him with a powerful squeak. "NOT eat wise."
His eyes followed the arm she lifted, and his mind slipped to the Halloween party when he had her hand in his mouth. He knew she'd taste good. Alexander didn't reach for it, but she pulled it away regardless.
"You are staring at it like you want to eat it."
"Of course I do." Alexander bluntly said, "I told you before, Shrimp, I eat humans." His stomach tugged at his body in an attempt to puppeteer him to get her. "I can sit here trying to take little bits of your energy over time, but I won't feel satiated without a meal."
"Without a person."
"A human." He said. And even then, being close to one and taking energy when I'm empty is asking for trouble.
"I'm not going to let you win." She sighed. "My offer to take energy via touching my arm is still available. AND-" She put her finger up, and he watched it. "Not anywhere in your m-m-"
Alexander caught himself from leaning forward to take her finger. "Argh, just stop putting yourself by me."
They both distanced themselves from each other.
...
Drake
He was on his fourth blood pouch and still drawn to take a bite from the source. And the only source I can have now has to be you. He had sat next to Lynette and continued to drink what was left in the bag.
She glanced up from her phone. "Do you need something?" Lynette questioned.
Say something. Don't be weird. "I was wondering what you have planned for your weekend?"
Drake slipped further down in his chair. I hope that sounded normal.
"Hmm, more training with Wicks, I think? He said he might be busier this week, so I'll probably be alone most of the day." Lynette said. "I could catch up on a few games." Lynette set her phone down and gave him her complete attention. He put a hand to his bangs to ensure they still covered his eyes.
"What about you?"
"Nothing really, besides Wednesday. Alexander and I will be going Christmas shopping." We got to buy gifts for them this year too, don't we? "It'd probably be a good idea to go with you at some point since we don't know what to get your family."
"Oh-uh-yeah. I wouldn't mind going with you guys. I'll need help buying for your families, too." She said with a hesitant enthusiasm.
Why did she say that? She can't read minds. His smile twisted subtly. I literally gave Alexander lip this morning for the same thing. HIS STUPID IS RUBBING OFF ON ME. Drake said it in his head, jokingly. I can't correct myself now. I'd be rude.
"Yeah, it's probably gonna be Mayus Mall, maybe around two or three. I'll text you the details."
Not long after that, Lynette returned to work, and Drake banged his head on the table. Alexander's going to hang on to this for a while.
...
Lynette
Going shopping with Xander and Drake? It ran in my head like a question. This may be what I need. Xander may be better outside of work if I have Drake as support. I assured myself and scanned out for lunch. Alexander stayed behind to deal with a customer.
Who am I kidding? I have a feeling Xander isn't going to devolve every conversation we have into something gross. I put my badge on the glass door, and it opened faster. I rubbed at the finger he had healed earlier. I shouldn't automatically assume anything.
I did a once over in break room one, spotting Drake at one of the faraway tables near the fridge.
He didn't look up at my wave. He stared longingly at an empty bag of what I assumed was blood. He drank a lot earlier, too.
Upon approaching the table, I saw his red eyes and dark circles. He very quickly let his bangs fall back over them.
"You don't look so good." I took a seat across from him.
Drake scoffed. One of his hands traced the rounded edge of his side of the table. "Fresh blood has much more energy, and the longer it's away from the body, even bagged, the more that escapes." He explained with a yawn.
So you didn't get any fresh blood, huh? I remembered what happened just a week and a half ago. Besides the occasional staring, he hadn't been or said anything weird since.
I would have offered mine. "I'm sorry."
"You're okay." He leaned over to the side, looking toward the door, and quickly spoke. "I hate to ask, but can you let me win today?"
If I let Drake win, I don't have to worry about Alexander.
"Alexander asked the same thing."
"Of course," his head tilted up to the person approaching the table, "he did."
Alexander's voice was clear behind me. I tensed up at the sound. Luckily, neither of them really paid attention to me. They bickered amongst themselves.
I snuck up from between them and ran to the sidelines of the table. I saw Claudia enter excitedly.
Games going to start soon, then. Wait a minute. "What game are we even playing?"
...
Drake
It didn't matter what game they played. Drake had already convinced Claudia to help him win.
He brushed the hair from Lynette's neck and let his tongue stroke her skin. The euphoric buzz of doing so tickled his tastebuds.
He barely waited for the numbing to take effect. His fangs extended out and sunk deep into Lynette's flesh.
What followed was one of the best feelings to Drake: the rush of blood. It had been so long since he tasted her ichor. It's energy content drove him over the edge. It made him clutch her body close to his own greedily.
Taking the first swallow was hard. Drake felt like he was letting it go and didn't want to lose any of it.
Drake always felt possessive when he drank blood. Like it was his and only his. He sometimes wondered if it only happened to him or if other vampires experienced the same. He never found it fitting to ask.
Unlike before, he at least recognized the person supplying him. Every human to him, like Alexander, had a deliciously unique flavor that he never could forget.
And that led him to yearn for those he drank in the past. And he'd never tell Lynette, but she was one of them. So this, drinking from her again, felt more than intoxicating.
That's the excuse he used, definitely not the fact that he was overdrinking again.
He had to forcibly pull his fangs up and braced into the wall beside them. He was tipsy from Lynette's crimson nectar yet again. He let himself and her slide to the ground. He hadn't let her go. He securely held her and whispered softly, "I told you I'd be gentler." It was more of a promise to himself if he ever bit her like before because he knew he'd regret it.
...
Hey, you, thank you so much for reading. I'm glad I put out a story that people can enjoy! I hope you continue to enjoy it as WE have a LOT more to go! YOU BETTER KEEP PROSPERING! (Nonnegotiable, as always~).

[Sims4] MDZS - Lanling Jin - Golden Carp Tower 金鳞台
Hi All, I'm back with a new build for Sims 4. This is the The Golden Carp Tower of Lanling Jin Sect!
I have received a lot of love and requests to download the previous 2 MDZS Sims4 Build series. I'm sorry for my late reply, as I rarely open my Tumblr.
I have replied to all the messages, and for you new readers who somehow discovered my Tumblr, don't be shy and drop me a DM for the download link. Please expect a delay in reply, as I rarely open my Tumblr.
Now that I'm back and have some free time, I finally got to re-visit my Sims4. Continuing the MDZS / the untamed build series, here I present you the residence of Jin Sect in Lanling City. The Golden Carp Tower (金鳞台, Jīnlín Tái; lit. Golden Scale Tower; also: Jinlin Tower, Koi Tower, Carp Tower) - source https://modao-zushi.fandom.com/
There's not much reference to Golden Carp Tower from the animation or the live-action series. However, watching the series, I feel that Lan Ling Jin's residence is very beautiful, a bit feminine, with a lot of flowers. As the name suggests "Tower", Lan Ling Jin's residence should be a tall building with long enormous stairs.
source: https://modao-zushi.fandom.com/wiki/Golden_Carp_Tower
I found a beautiful castle built by one of the Sims 4 players, and I worked around and renovated most of it to suit the style of Lan Ling Jin's residence that I remember from the animation and live-action series.
THE BUILD
Overall look from above: LanLing Jin's Golden Carp Tower
Due to limited capabilities in Sims 4, I tried hard to fit in ideal stairs to the castle. I am proud of the end result. Dominated with yellow gold and light green, the Golden Carp Tower looks elegant with a huge garden and outdoor space. The tower stood on a 64 x 64 lot.
THE ENTRANCE
The entrance with big stairs is the highlight. With Jin Sect's emblem
BUILDING MAP
The 1st-floor situation is giving a big outdoor area in the middle. From the entrance, you can walk straight to the main building where the throne of the sect leader is located and the main room and house for the main family. On the sides, you'll find supporting buildings, which each have their own function.
GARDEN LANDSCAPE
The vast beautiful garden will greet you right through the high stairs and gate before entering the main building.
THE THRONE
Main building situation, where the leader of Jin Sect sits and welcomes important guests.
On the right side, we have some leisure space and a dining room which then extends to lounge space. Upstairs we have a bedroom
Lounge and Guest Room
Kitchen
We have a pond and a nice creative space on the left side of the main building.
Little Library
Little Pond was created by Jin Zixuan for Jiang Yanli when the latter missed Lotus Pier so much Jin Zixuan created the pond to mimic Lotus Pier. How sweet :)
Dormitory
SURPRISE BASEMENT
Down below the Jin's Sect leader's throne, we have another throne and space for different occasions. This is where the party happens, a beautiful garden hall.
On the left side, we have a study room, where the teacher will lead the learning of Jin's sect students.
On the right side, we have a material arts practice space.
CHILL & RELAXING SPACE
Jin Sect, as one of the wealthiest families in the series, of course, needs a place for leisure with fancy facilities. We have an onsen with a nice bathroom and lockers next to the material arts dojo room. It's a nice location for the students to recover and relax after practice.
THE CULTIVATION AREA
Lastly, since I will never be able to let the magic stuff not be embedded in the house. For me, the magic furniture really completes the MDZS / The Untamed Universe in the Sims. This is where the magic and rituals happen.
BEDROOMS
Bedrooms, bathrooms, and private study room.
That's all pretty much the overall look of Lan Ling Jin's Golden Carp Tower from the Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed / Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation series. Of course, there are a lot of rooms, like the main bedrooms, more bedrooms, and the academy area, which I haven't put in here. Thus, for you who are interested in downloading and adding this beautiful build to your gallery and Sims world, feel free to DM me for the files!
See you in the next post!!

Fanfic ask game!
Hey sosaaaaa so here’s something I have for youuuu! 💻 and ⏰
ask game found here ! HI LOVE ! i am extremely sorry that i am replying to this so late :(( hectic last few days but now i finally have time to answer all my beautiful asks <3 thank u for stopping by to participate in the tag game !!
💻 -> i think this question is really interesting and am excited to answer DFJDFJHJD. the short is YES. i do conduct research for all of my fics, even drabbles i do a little searching here and there for basic stuff, to fact check something, have a character's voice play on a loop so i can get a "feel " for them, or gain inspiration on how to go about executing the ideas i have. the deepest dive for a fic i have ever done....hmm there are a few of them in mind. the first one that comes to mind is one i have is this fic about uryū ishida called spellbound, and it's a bridgerton au + royal au. this is one of the fics that required the most research because it's in an au that doesn't even exist anymore/don't have enough knowledge about so i had to research victorian + regency era language, customs, vocabulary, the names for their clothing, architectural terms, and even looking up visuals for the setting because of the world building that i'm doing. butttt despite all this, the fic will turn out great (i think) so stay tuned!!!
another fic i had to do ample research for was for this multichap series for sasuke i had planned called koi no yokan, which isn't posted on here yet but i will post it later. it's main platform will be ao3 tho :) for this it was more so doing research on sasuke's relationship with other people, sakura in particular (for reasons i don't want to reveal yet bc i want it to be a surprise) and it takes place when they're adults (boruto era). i also had to look up stuff about jutsu techniques because i made some things up, and geographical stuff.
one last example: it's for another up and coming idea i have for leone abbacchio called legend of the enchanted forest (name subject to change) and it's a medieval au so for similar reasons like spellbound, i wanted to do research on knights and their rankings, the royal courts, mythical creatures, etc.
⏰ -> it fluctuates fr ! i would say i read and write fics in equal amounts (which isn't as much these days as it used to, but i'm getting back in my jam) but there are times i find myself reading more because....well i don't always have the energy or time to write like how i REALLY want to everyday soooo i just settle to read :)
#*☆゚. destinies cross ── asks.#ask games :)#Ꮺ moots.#shamelesshoefairy#i am deeply sorry#i talk so damn much it's DISGUSTING UGH i need to give myself a word limit#but uhhh yea :D

Title: Echoes of Tomorrow
Chapter 1: The Day Everything Changed
The day of the middle school attack began like any other at U.A. Middle School, where laughter and chatter echoed through the sunlit halls. Luna walked alongside her friends—Sabito, Saito, and Yuki—each step light with the promise of another day filled with camaraderie and adventure.
“Did you see the new training equipment in the gym?” Yuki asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“I can't wait to try it out!” Saito replied, throwing an arm around Yuki’s shoulders. “I bet I can outlift you all!”
Sabito chuckled, his confidence unwavering. “In your dreams, Saito. I’ll take you down without breaking a sweat.”
But darkness came swiftly. Viper, a villain whose name whispered dread among the students, descended upon their school like a storm, unleashing chaos that left devastation in his wake.
“Luna, we need to get to the gym! It’s the safest place!” Sabito urged, his voice sharp with urgency.
“Come on! Move!” Luna shouted, pushing her friends toward safety, the hairs on her arms standing on end as Viper's laughter echoed around them.
But it was too late. In a split second, everything shattered. Yuki fell, laughter extinguished forever, and Saito and Sabito were snatched away in the blink of an eye.
Luna's heart raced as she turned to them, desperation surging through her. “No! Don’t go! We have to stick together!”
When the dust settled, Luna stood amidst the ruins, the echoes of her friends’ screams ringing in her ears. She had promised to protect them, and in her moment of weakness, she had failed. The weight of grief crushed her, heavy and suffocating, as she crumbled to the ground, her heart torn apart.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry,” she whispered, tears streaming down her face. “I should have done something… Anything…”
Chapter 2: Rising from the Ashes
Determined to honor her friends and not let their deaths be in vain, Luna poured herself into relentless training. The pain of loss fueled her drive as she harnessed her ten quirks, each a testament to her unwavering resolve. Among them were time manipulation, which allowed her to freeze moments in time with a clap, and blackfire, which burned her skin yet became a fierce weapon in her arsenal. She even mastered erasure, inheriting its drawbacks as she learned to negate others’ quirks.
During training sessions, Aizawa, her father and homeroom teacher, often watched her with a keen eye, his presence a constant reminder of her goals. He was both her guide and her anchor.
“Luna, focus,” he would say, his voice low and commanding. “You can’t let your emotions cloud your judgment. Channel them into your training.”
As she practiced, Luna often found herself speaking to Sabito, Saito, and Yuki in her mind, their voices pushing her forward.
“I won’t let your memories fade,” she murmured during grueling training sessions, her fists clenched in determination. “I will be strong enough to protect those I care about.”
The entrance exam for U.A. loomed on the horizon, a symbol of her dreams. On that day, chaos erupted around her, and as she fought, the familiar rush of adrenaline fueled her. With her heart pounding in her chest, she clapped her hands, stopping time to navigate the tumultuous battlefield. Blackfire surged from her fingertips, illuminating the darkness as she fought her way to victory, determined to prove herself worthy of the prestigious academy.
“I did this for you,” she whispered, glancing upward as if she could see her friends cheering her on. “I hope I make you proud.”
Chapter 3: A New Beginning
Life at U.A. was a whirlwind of challenges, friendships, and self-discovery. Initially, Luna struggled to connect with her classmates, often labeled “dead-eyes” by Bakugo, a name meant to mock but ultimately fueling her resolve. Yet, in the midst of her isolation, she found solace in her training and the bond with Koi, her black snake companion.
“Hey, dead-eyes!” Bakugo shouted one day, smirking as he passed her in the hallway. “You better step it up if you want to keep up with me!”
Luna glared back, determination igniting within her. “I will, Bakugo. Just watch.”
As the weeks passed, she gradually opened up to her classmates, particularly Shoto Todoroki, whose strength and determination resonated deeply within her. They often trained together, their connection growing stronger with each shared moment.
“Luna, you have to keep your head in the game,” Aizawa reminded her during a particularly tough training session. “You’re doing well, but you can always do better.”
“Got it, Dad,” Luna replied with a smirk, the familiarity of their relationship adding a spark of warmth to the training.
“Don’t think that just because I’m your father, I’ll go easy on you,” Aizawa said, his expression serious.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she retorted, grinning back at him.
In the following weeks, as they faced challenges together—fighting villains, passing exams, and confronting their fears—Luna found herself growing closer to her classmates, forging bonds that filled the void left by her friends. The laughter and camaraderie became a part of her healing process, a light that dispelled the shadows of her past.
And as she stood among her peers, with Aizawa’s unwavering support and Koi slithering beside her, Luna knew she was ready to embrace whatever challenges lay ahead. She would carry the memory of her friends with her, not as a burden but as a guiding light, reminding her of her purpose and the strength within her.
“Together, we’ll face anything,” Luna vowed, looking out at her classmates. “And I’ll protect all of you, just like I couldn’t protect them.”
Chapter 7: The Last Embrace
The battlefield was silent, an eerie stillness enveloping the chaos that had erupted only moments before. Luna lay sprawled over Shoto’s body, her heart racing yet feeling strangely detached from reality. She had fought so hard to protect him, and now it felt as though her world had shattered around her. The metallic tang of blood mingled with the acrid smoke that filled the air, and she struggled to draw in a breath as panic clawed at her throat.
The warmth of Shoto’s body began to fade beneath her, and the stark reality of their situation pressed down on her like an anchor, dragging her deeper into despair. She had failed him, failed to protect the one person she had fought so hard to save. Her fingers trembled as she brushed a stray lock of hair from his forehead, her touch gentle yet frantic.
“Shoto,” she whispered, her voice cracking with sorrow. “I’m so sorry. I couldn’t… I couldn’t save you.”
As tears streamed down her cheeks, Luna felt a deep sense of loss, a gaping void opening within her. Every moment they had shared flashed before her eyes: their late-night training sessions, the way he had always been there to encourage her, his quiet strength that had become her refuge. She had taken it all for granted, believing they had time—more time to understand each other, to share their dreams and fears.
“Luna…” Shoto’s voice was weak, barely above a whisper, but it cut through her despair like a lifeline. He turned his head slightly to meet her gaze, his deep eyes clouded with pain but filled with determination.
“I’m… not done fighting yet,” he managed, a small, brave smile gracing his lips. “But if this is it… I need you to promise me something.”
Luna felt her heart racing. “What is it?” she asked, her voice trembling as she held his hand tightly, anchoring herself to him.
“I want to promise… that in the next life, we’ll find each other,” he said, his breath coming in ragged gasps. “I want to marry you, Luna. No matter what. I want to be with you.”
The weight of his words settled over them, filling the air with a warmth that contrasted sharply with the chaos surrounding them. Luna’s heart swelled with emotion, a mixture of love and despair. “I promise, Shoto. In the next life, I’ll find you, and we’ll be together. Just you and me.”
With trembling hands, she picked a delicate flower that had somehow survived the destruction, its petals vibrant against the grim backdrop. She fashioned it into a makeshift ring and placed it on Shoto’s finger, her heart aching at the symbolism of their bond.
“Now you have one, too,” she said softly, her fingers intertwining with his as she created a matching ring for herself. “These are our promises. Our rings.”
“Always…,” Shoto breathed, his eyes growing heavy. “No matter what happens, always… remember that.”
Luna nodded, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I will, Shoto. I will always remember you.”
As darkness began to encroach around them, Luna felt the life slipping from her fingers, but in that moment, she held onto Shoto with all her strength. Their intertwined hands bore the weight of their promises—a bond that transcended life and death.
“I love you, Shoto,” she whispered, her voice barely audible as the world around them faded away.
“I love you, too, Luna. Always…” Shoto’s voice was a faint echo in her mind, a final breath before the light dimmed in his eyes.
And then, as the darkness enveloped them, they surrendered to the promise they had made. In their last moments, they felt a flicker of hope, a connection that transcended their shattered bodies. They would find each other again, two souls destined to reunite amidst the stars.
Luna's final thought was of the next life, where they would be together again—where they would fulfill their promise of love and find peace.

oh, you wanted an autistic girl who doesn't know she's a lesbian yet?? lemme see what i can do
Wednesdays were her Mondays, the gate lock creaking when she turned the key, the hinges complaining as she shuttled it aside and away from the front door of the shop. The city had been awake for hours, the road well-traveled all morning, but when one owns a business with dedicated and nigh-on guaranteed clientele one can choose one's hours, and Kim Ami liked the hours when people could come in the most easily best.
That meant lunch time on weekdays, 5 to 9 in the evening, all day all weekend, and, of course, open by appointment. Very little of her stock was likely to be urgently required, and so she made simple stable business within the confines of the little shop.
The warm humid air hit her as she stepped over the threshold from the sidewalk into the shop, leaving the cold outside to nip at someone else's ears, and she took her coat off as she walked through the dark front room, pausing just a moment at the wall to hit the lights.
The little fish shop lit up in pockets of glow, planted tanks humming and green, oxygen pearling from each blade of vallisneria, each round leaf of bacopa caroliniana. The indoor cichlid pond roiled with blue and gold— ("Okay, okay, let me set down my bag, I get it, you're hungy babies...") —the goldfish swarmed, each tank of little jeweled guppies wiggled a late morning greeting of permanently hungry optimism.
The auto-feeders went off as she walked past, pellets dropping into the water of a few dozen high-turnover aquariums taking care of the lion’s share of the work, but there was still easily another half an hour of painstaking feeding - the portioning of brine shrimp, the snails into the puffer tank, stick-on tablets and algae wafers and making sure the betta on the bottom of the sorority hierarchy got her breakfast, delivered sneakily behind the dwarf lily with a turkey baster and the power of distraction.
She was in the middle of topping off the co2 in the black moscow tank (packed to the gills with pogostemon stellatus as it was) when the bell over the door tinkled merrily, and if she hadn’t known exactly who it would be she might have looked up. “I’m sorry to say this,” she said, “but I’m unable to sate your strange desires today.”
“My what?”
What Ami had expected was a man named Seokjin, a person as friendly as he was beautiful and who had Opinions about koi husbandry which she may or may not have shared, (she didn’t, but mostly because she didn’t care about koi that much; her ideal koi came in the form of a plakat betta, thank you, and if a carp really wanted to get fancy then the least it could do was be an oranda about it), but the bell had not tinkled to announce the presence of an old friend - it had tinkled to announce the presence of someone significantly… newer.
Newer, yes, and shorter too. Narrow shoulders, hips at a slant, legs that could have just walked straight out of a girl group, sleepy eyes and a mouth that looked like mostly what it did was pout and sigh and (probably) drink too much coffee.
“You’re not Jin,” Ami said, a paragon of awareness and subtlety.
“I’m not, no,” said the girl in her shop. She looked at Ami. She looked at the fish tank. “Is it s’posed to be bubbling that much?”
“Not really,” Ami replied nonchalantly, extremely calmly scrambling to shut off the co2 and unhook the pipe from the bottle without upending the entire aquarium right there on the floor. (Which would be a tragedy of the highest order. Some of the bacteria in that substrate was older than she was.) “Um, that’s— sorry, hold on—“
“Holding,” said the girl in her shop. She crossed her arms over her chest. “Do you, uh… need any help?”
“Usually! Ha ha!” Oh god, she wasn’t a funny person and that hadn’t sounded like a joke. “It— it’s fine, just gimme a second…“
In the end she required more than a second, and instead took almost four full minutes to dramatically fight the co2 canister, airline, and hook back into the closet where the entire kit belonged, and so it was that by the time she turned finally to pay attention to the new person in her little fish shop she was sweaty and stupid and, unfortunately, very very useless.
“Hello,” said Ami, the dumbest person on the planet. “Hi. I’m… hello.” (Oh god.) “Can I help you? With anything?” (Oh, god.) “That you might need?”
“M’not really in need of anything,” the girl said, shrugging. “Just came over to say hi. I’m—“ She laughed, shook her head. “Sorry, I’m Yoonji. Min Yoonji. I just signed the lease on the space next door.”
The space next door.
Somewhere on Ami’s kitchen counter lay an envelope from her building manager that she’d been meaning to open for… a little while, sure, but not too long, right? No more than a week. Two weeks? Regardless of the timing, Ami at this point felt reasonably confident that whatever information she might find inside that envelope would likely be primarily in regard to the space next door, its lease, and subsequent signing of same by the girl standing in front of her.
“Right!” said Ami, like she knew to expect this. (Incredible theatrical skill. Breathtaking.) “Of course. That’s great, it felt weird to have it empty.” She shrugged. “I dunno, like it was unlucky somehow. I’m Ami, by the way.”
“Ami, huh?” Yoonji stared at her for a few blank and empty seconds, then laughed— glancing away like she didn’t want to make eye contact. “I dunno if me showing up here will bring a whole lotta luck,” she said, and turned, looking around the shop. “I thought this was like a house plant store or something, but…” She reached up, almost but not quite brushing her fingertips over the glass of a tank populated with dozens of cherry neocaridina flickering among thick drifts of java moss. “Are these… fish?”
There was a part of Ami that had a filter. (But what kind? HOB? UGF? Sponge? Canister? Sump? Matten? What about the biomedia? And please don’t tell me you’re putting activated charcoal into the filter for a planted tank…) That part of her could do things like go to the grocery store, talk to tellers at the bank, stuff like that, but that filter ended where aquariums began, and so it was that Yoonji’s unfortunate question mark clipped short Ami’s ability to shut, as it were, the fuck up.
Time passed, during which Ami explained to Yoonji everything about the care, feeding, ecological role, ethical breeding practices (“I just can’t get behind the orange-eyed tigers,” she said. “Hindering a living being’s natural functions for the sake of human aesthetics? Feels icky.“), and historical significance of neocaridina versus caridina freshwater shrimp in the aquarist hobby, and it wasn’t until she had moved on to how the mineral and pH requirements of neocaridina make them good tankmates for a small livebearer breeding colony (“Endlers are very hardy, and there are new hybrid color morphs coming out practically every day!”) that she looked up at Yoonji again and saw the dazed expression on this near stranger’s face and realized, horribly and suddenly like an ice bath in the morning, how fucking dumb she was. This poor stranger didn’t need a crash course on water parameters. This poor stranger just came in to say hi.
“… Sorry,” she said, stuttering to a halt. “Um. I get… excited.”
“It’s exciting stuff,” Yoonji replied, looking heavy-lidded and sarcastic but sounding unexpectedly sincere. “That’s cool about the… you know, the shrimp. I didn’t know that there were freshwater shrimp.” She hadn’t looked away from the tank, eyes tracking the flitting movements of miniscule invertebrates exploring a dense and soggy jungle, and the light cast green and blue over her face. “The red looks pretty on the green.”
Ami took in a breath to say something - probably something stupid, like you look pretty on the green - but was saved from herself by the sound of the bell over the door.
“Darling,” boomed Seokjin, standing in the door like the demigod he was. “Please tell me you have what I desire.” He took a step inside. “Who’s this? Are you cheating on me?”
“Oppa!”
“Woops,” Yoonji muttered under her breath, recoiling from Ami like they had suddenly become two magnets of identical polarity. “Um, I’ll— I’ll see you around? Prob’ly. I mean I’m next door, so—“ On her escape out the door she came extremely briefly face to face with Seokjin, to which she reacted by going pale and almost tripping over her own feet. “Cool, bye!”
Ami and Seokjin stood in the shop in silence for a few moments, the quiet broken only by the noise of cars on the street and the door to the space next door opening quickly and then slamming shut. “She seems nice,” Seokjin said brightly.
“Your book hasn’t come in yet,” Ami said, “but I got in some new betta boys that I need to jar if you want to hang out and talk shit about blood parrot breeders until you have to go back to work.”
Seokjin placed one hand over his heart. “Ami,” he said, “that’s the sexiest thing a woman has ever said to me.”
#a scraplet of nonsense for femmeslash february#there's more of this which you will probably see#but not yet#hey zooks how obsessed are you with amji?#great question!#the answer is: extremely#i feel like i should mention that this is bts fic

Oh dear. Sorry I've replied so aggressively: I've seen one too many metas trying to excuse and downplay JGY's crimes lately and sort of had a knee-jerk reaction. Your analysis is actually very deep and thoughtful!
Btw (not to argue with you on anything, just as a side point): I've heard that in the original version of the story JGY didn't dismember NMJ out of vengeance, but because NMJ rose as a fierce corpse and came all the way to the Koi Tower after his murderer, so JGY had to deal with that mess with XY's help. Later that scene was apparently edited out.
Anyway, NMJ's death is one of the most beautifully carmic things in all three of MXTX's novels. Not saying it's "just" or "well-deserved", but definitely carmic.
Sorry again for the misunderstanding and for the rant.
Super big fan of the way the Nie Mingjue severed head Empathy segment of the book opens with a hard cut to his decapitation of Wen Xu, and the description of how Wen Xu's body was immediately thereafter torn limb from limb and systematically desecrated by Nie Mingjue's allies, and the head put up on a spike.
Because I think it really centers one of the key narrative tensions around the characters' life choices, and the question of the very definition of 'crime.' And how it's a contextualized process, rather than a hardcoded binary of actions that are okay and actions that aren't.
It maybe wasn't good to do that to Wen Xu's corpse, but it was war after all, so it's also not a big deal and the cultivators involved don't carry any lasting culpability, even though it wasn't even useful to the war effort to do that.
There's no need to figure out who it was exactly, and attach a stigma to them for vengeful corpse desecration.
But Jin Guangyao having done the very same thing to Nie Mingjue that Nie Mingjue did and allowed to be done to Wen Xu--well that's bad, right? Because it's not war, now. Because it's politics and personal relationships, and the rules for those are different. It's different.
And Jin Guangyao is like, is it though? No. That's bullshit you all tell yourselves. Lines drawn in water, to make sure you're always in the right and anyone else who resorts to violence is wrong.
The rules aren't ever different. Some of us are always at war.
Which is simultaneously the mindset that makes him a dangerous untrustworthy person who makes everyone around him less safe, and He Has A Point Tho.
All of which juxtaposes really interestingly with Wei Wuxian, who in the two phases of his Terrifying Necromancer era did exactly the same things under what were, to him, about the same circumstances (i.e. people he loved had been killed on a pretext that he'd started it, by people who self-professedly weren't going to stop until they'd taken everything he had left) but when it was war he was a hero (albeit controversial), and when it wasn't war anymore he was a criminal, unforgivable, had to be put down.
Still 'killing people and corpse desecration.' By the same person, using the same methods, with almost the same motives. And all it took to take him across the line from 'basically like when Nie Mingjue did it' to 'basically like when Jin Guangyao will do it' is an alteration in the story being told.

irl !
you watch, mesmerised, as diluc expertly pours a variety of wines into glasses without spilling a drop and hands it out to the people at the bar. "classic 'luc, always trying to impress the ladies," kaeya snickers, and diluc's face turns firetruck red, "shut up, kaeya." then he turns to you, face still slightly flushed, "what would you like, y/n?" "hmm..." you tap your chin thoughtfully, "what would you recommend?" honestly you couldn't care less about what you drink as long as it's strong enough to dull your emotions for a while. you've been in a total mess since xiao 'broke up' with you. (could you really call it breaking up if you were never together?) it's quite embarrassing that you, who was known across the internet as a flirt, had cried over the same man almost 17 times in the past seven days.
"well, i'm not really one for wine, so if you're asking me i'd go for grape juice," diluc replies, using one hand to wipe down the counter with a rag. the bar is rather quiet compared to normal, as diluc had closed early for the night so those of you who were here could relax without worrying about rabid fans or reporters. you can't help but crack a smile, "a wine tycoon who doesn't like wine? that's not something you see every day." "i get that a lot," diluc rubs the back of his neck before glaring pointedly at kaeya, blatantly insinuating that he's the one who constantly makes fun of him for it. "it's true though, diluc has always been unromantic enough to prefer juice over wine. maybe he just doesn't have the patience for fermentation, and that's why he never- ow!" diluc slams the rag onto kaeya's hand before deadpanning, "sorry, it was an accident."
"anyways, if you're looking for something stronger you should ask rosaria," diluc points a thumb at the woman at the edge of the bar who's idly swirling her drink. thanking him, you slide over to her, "hey, uh, rosaria, was it? what are you drinking?" she glances at you out of the corner of her eye, "you're that streamer, aren't you? the one who's in a whole load of hot water right now." your eyes widen, "you know who i am?!" "who wouldn't? your face is all over the internet right now," she states calmly, though she quietens when she notices your expression. "yeah... all because of this one stupid guy," you roll your eyes, placing your elbows on the table and balancing your chin on your hands. rosaria laughs, a genuine sound this time, "i can tell you definitely need a strong drink. the one i'm having is fire-water, though i'll warn you it isn't for those with a weak stomach." "okay! i'll take whatever i can get, if i'm being honest," you respond before ordering a glass of the smoky alcohol from diluc.
just then, the door slams open and venti enters with a loud strum of his lyre, followed by albedo. "tis i, venti the bard!" "sorry, we're late, i was finishing up an experiment," albedo murmurs an apology to kaeya before seating himself between the two of you. "and you must be the infamous y/n," he faces you and shakes your hand, "it's an honour to meet you in person." "the pleasure's all mine," you grin, ignoring the slight sting that comes with the label of 'infamous'. "my dear diluc, the usual please!" venti spins around on the high chair at the bar joyfully, only to pretend to sob the next second when diluc replies dryly, "you can have it when you pay off your tab." "hey venti, i'll cover your drinks tonight if you play us a tune or two," kaeya chimes in. "really?! then prepare yourself to be sucked away by the music, for i, venti, know all songs of the past, present, and future! let's begin!"
as venti begins crooning a ballad about heartbreak, albedo randomly says, "love sucks, doesn't it?" "you can say that again," you chuckle in reply, nursing your drink. "yet somehow it's the most wonderful thing in the world, and perhaps that's why everyone craves it," his teal eyes meet yours, and suddenly it feels like this man can see into your soul. self-conscious, you sip from your glass to avoid his piercing gaze, "i guess so. must be why everyone says it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." "you have loved, and you have lost. do you agree with them?" the blonde man questions you directly, not bothering to beat around the bush. "woah! most people would ask something like that with a little more tact, you know," you answer with a start. he blinks once, as if calculating where he made a mistake in his phrasing, "i'm sorry. i'm not that good with people." neither was xiao, you think to yourself, before mentally scolding yourself for always connecting every little thing to him.
"you didn't answer my question," albedo's factual tone jolts you out of your thoughts. "oh! um... yes. unfortunately, i do agree with them," you scramble for a coherent answer, "to me, love is something else that can only be understood fully when you experience it yourself. it's not flawless like how it's portrayed in the media or anything, it's messy and imperfect at times, yet that's what makes it worth fighting for - the fact that both parties are putting in effort to make it work." you swear you feel tears form in your eyes as your voice cracks in the final sentence, so you quickly duck your head under the guise of drinking once more.
"that's an interesting take," albedo sips his water, then he stares at you once more, "but maybe you haven't really lost your love yet." "what do you mean?" "i mean that you said love was worth fighting for, and i think that both of you have not stopped fighting for each other yet," albedo states, tilting his head. you're so shocked you don't know what to say. you know that you hadn't moved on, but you've been thinking that xiao already did. "how do you know?" your voice comes out in a whisper. "sometimes venti says too much about things that should probably just be kept between friends," albedo smiles at you, "as for you, i tend to read too much into people, but even a baby could tell that you haven't given up yet." your cheeks warm - are you really that obvious? "it's just my opinion, but i think that's a good thing. like you said, love has its flaws; what matters is how you work through those flaws," he finishes his glass. "thank you... i think i really needed to hear that," you murmur, and albedo smiles gently as diluc refills his glass, "no worries. it's just the abstract ramblings of an alchemist anyway."
as venti switches to a more upbeat song which has kaeya cheering and rosaria threatening to smash a glass on his head if he carries on being this noisy while diluc observes with a smile playing about his lips, you and albedo share a private glance before clinking your glasses together, "well then, to love!"

phone call !
outgoing call to xiao at 1.17 a.m.
y/n: ...hello?
xiao: y/n, is that you?
y/n: no, this is actually your number one fan scaramouche! who decided to call you at 1 in the morning for no reason! obviously it's me.
xiao: oh. yeah, that makes sense. although at this point maybe i would have preferred it to be scaramouche.
y/n: what?! why?!
xiao: well, you're mad at me, aren't you?
y/n: no shit, genius. i'm absolutely fucking furious.
xiao: um... i can see that.
y/n: shouldn't you be apologising or something?! or being scared that i'm angry?
xiao: to be honest, i'm terrified. i don't want you to hate me. but i don't think you're sober right now, so i probably shouldn't say too much. plus if i'm going to apologise to you, i'm going to do it right.
y/n: you better. as in apologise.
xiao: of course.
y/n: do you even know what i've been going through the past week?!
xiao: no, but i really hope you haven't been harassed or anything again by my fans, because if you i have i'm going to-
y/n: shut up! archons, you're so fucking annoying. i hate you for being so cute and caring to the point i just want to slap your face. with my mouth preferably. which if you didn't understand means kiss.
xiao: ...
y/n: and you know what? i still do. i still fucking like you and want to kiss you, even after your stupid self broke my heart.
xiao: y/n, i know you most likely won't remember this, but i'm so so so sorry. and i know words won't do anything right now, but i swear i never meant to hurt you.
y/n: yeah, that's the worst part. i know you were thinking of me, and that makes it even harder to hate you like my friends say i should. for archons' sake, i'm all the way in mondstadt and i still can't get you off my mind.
xiao: if it makes you feel better, you haven't left my mind either.
y/n: *wry laugh* we're just a right pair of idiots, aren't we? both of us like the other but we aren't together.
xiao: y/n, maybe i should hang up, because i don't think you'd want your future self to tell me this.
y/n: xiao, shut the fuck up and listen. i like you, a lot more than i should considering what a dick you've been. and i don't think i'll get over you, at least not anytime soon.
xiao: y/n, i-
y/n: I LOVE YOU!
xiao: wait, what?!
y/n: *door opens*
???: yo, it's been 10 minutes. let's head downstairs again, okay? wait, who are you on the phone with?
y/n: nobody, let's go.
y/n: *whispers* i miss you, xiao. fuck our jobs, just let yourself be happy for once.
xiao: y/n, i promise i'll apologise and tell you the truth when you're back in liyue. i'll learn to be better at opening up for you too. please take care... *softly* i love you too.
call cut [from xiao's end] at 1.32 a.m.
a/n; xiao is so awkward i hate him (affectionate) T-T anyways this chapter was to check in on y/n and see what she's up to!! surprise appearance by the mondstadt charas hehe, and kaeya/diluc sibling bonding <3 spot the obvious albedo favouritism HAHAHA also when ur reading the call part keep in mind that y/n is quite drunk (she lied to kaeya abt just being a lil tipsy), so that's why she might say nonsensical things haha. grr be proud of me for updating cynosure so quick LOL, anyways i don't have that much to say except ily all, gn !! <3

good afternooon;Decided to send you an ask wondering if you have any visual novel recommendations or would want any (I'm reading one asi am tying this)
thank you for the ask ~. hopefully this isnt a late reply ?? i dont know i dont see dates on here rn but anyway :D please prepare for a long and detailed, to my best ability, descriptions. to answer the second half of your question .. please by all means recommend to me !!! i feel like my vndb library has been lacking, and i would love to enjoy new things. start - starting with the non R18 and well known novels i know so far. CLANNAD is a very well known anime and visual novel. as someone who has yet to finish maybe 95% of the game left ... (i've been stalling, sorry .) i am confident that the appraisals it has gotten by those who HAVE finished it are definitely worth listening to. with especially high rating, it could most likely be considered a MUST for visual novel readers. the higurashi series !!!!! this is bloody and scary, and can be considered denpa as it takes alot of elements of insanity into the characters. i LOOOVE these sound novels (sound novels are visual novels that have no choices, you just read. there are also no CGs and rely on audiowork in the overall environment (but no voice acting unless youre playing in some certain versions of the game .. ? i do not know anything about them though but they are not in steam. no voice acting in these novels is no problem for me at all ! ) , which is especially really immersive and personally really crucial to the novels, so headphones recommended ! and description. instead of a CG, you imagine the full picture in your mind..) it being a series with arcs, and as someone who usually likes to prefer short series especially in anime, all seconds of these novels i have spent were fun and worthwhile. if you dont know where to start, i gotchu the first four sound novels are considered the "question arc", introductory novels as they make you "question" whats going on. read these four in order, and then you can move to the "answer arc" .
the second four sound novels are now the "answer arc". of course, likewise the question arc, this is where the secrets shown in the questions arc novels are finally revealed!!
all of these novels are found on steam. onikakushi (first question arc novel/first novel of the overall series) is FREE. beforehand warning: i believe majority, if not, all of these novels are R18 and may or may not have blood related content. if possible ill label them! some visual novels i REAAALLY wanted to read (but unfortunately couldn't find any downloads at all ..) were the White Album visual novels! they are a romance series, with a love triangle trope (maybe more than three people liking each other ?) !! R18, these have sexual scenes. !! another one is "shizuku", a very denpa-based novel and one of the "big three" of the denpa genre consisting of it, sayooshi (which i read and love but do NOT recommend casually to majority of people), and jisatsu no tame no 101 no houhou (i dont know anything about this but here is a lil page that talks about it ! (be wary of possible spoiler ?) !! all three of these novels are R18; GORE, not just blood, related content as well as triggering and sexual scenes. (this is especially in sayooshi as it basically revolves around it.) !!
(a novel mentioned in my pinned post introduction:) kimi no kanojo no kanojo no koi, better known as totono for its shorter title lol, is a romance novel !! with denpa. a little bit of patience and feeling as if you're finishing the game and it'll pull you into a whole new second half of the overall thing. even when you expect it, i am sure the turns of events will still surprise. !! R18, mild blood related content (can be triggering to a certain but mild extremity) and sexual scenes; these are also triggering to a certain extent especially in the "second half" of the game where it turns dark. !! as a subahibi fan, of course i would recommend that one too . i've also been wanting to read it's remakes, tsui no sora, and tsui no sora remake. !! R18 likewise subahibi, heavy content! one or two very graphic sexual scenes as well as extremely detailed description concerning it and some gore. !! kara no shoujo. this is a very intriguing novel despite me having not read any part of it or know any of the plot besides vndb description, the following:
"" March 1956. Tokyo, a metropolis finally starting to recover ten long years after Japan's defeat in the War. Private eye Tokisaka Reiji accepts a strange request from a girl in Inokashira Park.
"I want you to look for something. Me. My true self."
Meanwhile, a series of bizarre murders plagues the area, where young women disappear, only to turn up dead and maimed with their wombs torn out. Seeking assistance on the case, Detective Uozumi Kyozo called up his old friend and former coworker, Reiji.
Reiji's little sister attends Ouba Girls Academy, a school on the outskirts of Hoya City, where two young women have mysteriously vanished. Saeki Tokio, the vice-principal, calls Reiji to investigate their disappearance, giving him his third case.
Reiji infiltrates the academy as a substitute teacher to glean more information - that's when he meets the girl once again.
Kuchiki Toko - his first client, the girl who asked him to search for her true self. Her manner is distinctly boyish as she remarks:
"Heya - so we meet again, Mr. Detective."
The body count continues to rise. What should be a simple search for some students is starting to grow out of control. For some reason, the number of missing people and unidentified bodies don't match up.
Who will be chosen as the next victim?
As the endless cycle of tragedy continues, what mysteries lie behind these new cases? Behind a similar series of murders from six years ago?
Perhaps one girl's smile might await beneath the shell of tragedy... "" i have been a big fan of detective stories! i liked reading agatha christie novels for book projects in school. this novel is on steam too ~~ i also believe there is not only an episode two, but a third (last) episode. all three of these episodes have the same lone protagonist (the detective). second episode has an additional main protagonist. !!R18, sexual content and, most confident that there could be death and blood. !!
swan song . a novel i still have zero clue what is about. it caught my eye and i put it into my wishlist because it had some quite popularity among people. (as someone who is a big fan of sayooshi, which also has some more 8 ratings than 10s, this does not put down my interest.) ratings of swan song for reference:
an earthquakes ruins a city during christmas eve, and six of the main characters gather in a church in desperation of finding shelter from snow. (cover of the novel is a naked lady btw but nothing else thats graphic) !! R18, sexual content and possibly triggering description and setting concerning extreme conditions in life. might be blood .. ? !! i believe these are the ones i have to display ~~ . i hope description has helped a lot. thank you for the ask ! once again.

I want to be Your Koi Fish - Nine Tails
Warning: +18 content, criminal underworld, intercourse, strong language - and so on
Fanfiction based on: "Baki" by Itagaki Keisuke
>5<
Hanabi lowered herself to the leather couch with delight, previously taking a bath in the wonderfully warm water, changing her wet clothes for a dry oversized T-shirt with a wide neckline falling from the shoulder and shorts. She was pulling on her feet fluffy pompom socks as Kaoru sat next to her, setting steaming mugs of tea on the table. They heard a knock on the door, followed by the gentle clang of the door handle. Hanayama nodded as he saw his deputy.
- Sorry to bother you at this late hour, boss. - he muttered a little nervously. - First of all, please accept my best wishes for health and well-being on your birthday, Hanabi-sama.
- Thank you, Kizaki-san. - she replied with a smile.
- During your absence, a package arrived, for Hanabi-sama. - he added, admitting Ueda and the others, with an oblong bundle. - Straight from Okinawa.
They all bowed evenly, and it was enormously amusing to her, she didn't really know why. As soon as the boy with the earrings placed quite a bundle in front of her, she flinched.
- You say ... Okinawa? - she asked uncertainly.
- Yes.
- I know perfectly well what is inside. - She threw nervously, cuddling up to her husband. - Absolutely don't want to see it. Send it back.
- What is this? - Kaoru asked, placing a warm hand on her shoulder.
- Two custom tailored katanas. Damscus steel coated with cobalt fibers. Both in white duvet covers, with nine-tailed foxes on tsubas. - she replied, still looking at the package. - Each of my sisters got such a set for their twentieth birthday. Always matched to individual predispositions. Tradition, in memory of grandfather Musashi. There is a family of armorers in Okinawa, let's say ... they are our friends.
- Damascus ... steel? - Kizaki stammered out. - It must be worth a fortune!
- Oh, probably. I also guarantee that the swords are of the highest class. I saw the previous three pairs, I had my father's katana in my hands ... Normally you won't get one. They are one of a kind.
- Then why don't you want them? - the husband muttered.
- Because if I do, I'll admit Grandpa Shigeru is right. - she replied quickly. - And I don't want this!
- But ... a gift was sent by Your father, Hanabi-sama ... - added the deputy.
She tugged the package towards herself as she read the label carefully. In fact, in the "addressee" column there was the father's name and surname. So this is Goro after all ...? She looked around the bundle. It would be the most ordinary in the world, except for the contents, if not for a small bulge around the handle. She peeled off the package carefully to remove what was squeezed under the foil. Found a tiny envelope, from which fell a charming key ring, which she had seen a lot at Okinawan festivals. It reigned over them every year, especially since around Grandpa Shigeru's dojo, Inari's cult was going really well. A charming figurine of a white fox surrounded by nine tails. Each of the tails had an intricately calligraphed symbol of happiness at the end. She smiled to herself as she flipped open the card that came with the gift: "Don't whine, sweetheart. Happy twentieth birthday! ".
>>><<<
The next day, he made every effort to put everyone he could to work so that would have an undisturbed time for her, from the early afternoon. Kizaki nodded meekly in understanding. He definitely cheered on their relationship more and more, it was visible to the naked eye. This allowed Hanayama to get his wife free for a relaxing day. With joy, she almost flew out in an airy, lacy, lush red dress, black tights and equally dark, varnished high heels. He thought he was used to it, but still couldn't take eyes off her light, graceful steps. Despite very high heels, Hanabi looked like she was actually dancing. Or was it because of them? Kaoru didn't have time to think, because Hana dragged him to "their cafe", the same one where they sat together for the first time. This time, much less skeptical, suspicious and more enthusiastic. She ate the cappuccino foam with the spoon again, as she used to do when the mood was high. At the sight of her beloved strawberry cake, she smiled so broadly that her face was barely enough. Her reactions to long-lost delicacies gave him great pleasure, especially as she nestled into his body, sweeping him with the sweet scent of perfume. Her energy grew with every moment, with every meter she traveled, as if she were absorbing it from the sun peeking out between the buildings, and then the trees in the park. They also ate the rest of their meals outside the house. He didn't want her to stand by the pots when celebrating her birthday. She was acting a little different than normal, but he guessed the joy of returning to her body was doing its job.
As soon as they returned, she took off her varnished high heels with undisguised relief, setting them next to the men's crocodile loafers. She collapsed onto the leather couch, placing long legs on the armrest. Hanayama took off jacket, slipped off tie, and walked over to the bar counter to retrieve a bottle of Wild Turkey from the cupboard beneath it. He looked in her direction. She winked knowingly, at which he chuckled under his breath as he took out another glass with a thick bottom. He set a pot half-filled with dark brown liquid on the table in front of her, sitting down beside her. She immediately moved just enough to rest head on massive thigh. After a while, however, she shifted to a sitting position, tucking legs under her and reaching for the glass. Hana rested head on his shoulder, taking a sip.
- I was supposed to tell you how it was there, right? - she murmured slowly. - I can't describe anything to you. It would break the rules ... but I can tell you what I did.
- I'm all ears. - he replied calmly, putting arm around her.
- It confused me a bit, I admit. Let's start with the fact that ... - she muttered, sipping. - ... the fact that I stayed here, at least partially, in the body of a fox with one tail, was almost a symptom of the grace of Lord Inari *.
- ... Inari? - he was surprised.
- Yes. He is the subject of all Kitsune. My sisters also "belong" to the Lord, although I'm not sure if they are aware of it. They probably think the way I did before, that this is some kind of talk, tradition and that's it. And then suddenly I wake up naked, with a tail and ears, I guess fucking in the afterlife. - she replied with a nervous huff, resting head on his shoulder again. - He was supposed to kill me, especially since he was furious, and Inari in this state is rarer than Yeti. He believed that what I had done was an unforgivable abuse of the laws of nature. He only softened the sentence because I actually saved the country from extermination.
- There is something about it. It isn't known what would go to her head. - Kaoru judged. - But why did it take so long?
- Unlike other Kitsune, I was born with my six tails, the last three were forced by Wu Song, probably without even knowing it ... - she replied bitterly, drinking the Black Russian. - Lord Inari said that this time I must earn all nine. Okay, eight. In this assignment, as a disembodied Byakko, spirit guide, I had to possess eight people in order for them to get better in some way and gain an ability that I care about.
The thought chilled him. Neither did she look proud of the whole story. Possession ... sounds like a horror theme that some people stay awake after a week, and Hanabi had to do it herself. He wasn't really going to go into details - how to get into someone's body. He also suspected that it was a religious taboo and she wouldn't be able to say anyway.
- First worst? - he asked softly.
- Pff ... in life. - she snorted, then laughed slightly and made a face. - The last one was the hardest. I had to get "affect" from ... a child.
He was dumbfounded. It's monstrous! Life didn't spoil, of course not ... but such an inhumane thing ... with a child? He watched as she took another sip, following her trail. He didn't think he could digest something like that completely sober.

Coming back to these memories was not easy for two reasons: first, the human brain had a hard time processing such information, and it quickly cleared of it, rationalizing it and translating it into the "tapped-off, forget" section. Second, she wanted to forget all this information very much. The enormity of the suffering she experienced sharing her skin with others.
In one second she closed her eyes, hugged by loving husband, giving her last breath in his arms, and in the second woke up lying on snow-white tatami mats, covered with an equally bright silk. She pushed herself into a sitting position, cascading raven hair, long as never before, enveloped her naked body. Pushing the part back, she found a pair of ears sticking out straight from her head.
- What the ...
- Don't you dare to swear in a holy place, Byakko. - she heard a warm, yet fierce voice in front of her.
A tall man stood in front of her, with a very pleasing appearance, ruby red eyes and gray hair falling over his shoulders, slightly covering the large golden circles hanging from his ears. He was dressed in clothes similar to those she had seen among the temple priests, but of much better quality. There were fist-sized pouches and a string of coins strung on his belt. He was accompanied by two foxes with long, single tails, looking at her curiously.
- One dirty word in my temple and I will seal your vocal cords for a whole millennium. - he grunted, pulling a rather wide collar with a wooden charm attached like a medallion from his sleeve. - I should have killed you, child, be glad you're alive!
- ... Inari ...? - she asked surprised.
- For you, MASTER Inari, my rebellious child. - he sighed heavily.
- So I died after all? - Hanabi muttered sadly, with astonishment noticing the presence of one tail protruding from under the white silk.
- You seemed smarter on Earth. - he replied, grabbing her jaw. - You LIVE, yet. Let it be an act of grace. Now to the point: you want to go back, I suppose? Because I'm not going to put up with your impertinent, immature nature.
She blinked quickly. So she could come back? Just? No wait, it couldn't be easy. If it were, he wouldn't be so mad. But if there was any chance, she had to get hold of it, even by the balls. She promised Kaoru that she would return to the human body, and so far she has melted the fuck knows where, condemned to the grace or disfavor of a divine being that she had previously seen only as a temple figurine! So it was necessary to dig out a little dignity, submission and personal culture, so that the disagreement with the "boss" wouldn't extend her sentence. She sat up a little more comfortably, wiggling her white tail quite naturally and sticking out the fox ears. She liked this form quite well, but didn't intend to stay in it for long.
- How can I come back, Master? - she asked, trying to be conciliatory.
- As far as I know, you got the previous six tails at birth ...
- I thought seven. - she was stunned. - Or eight.
- No, child, nine in total. The last three have been brutally forced. It absolutely shouldn't have happened... - he explained patiently. - In any case, you didn't get any of the tails for any credit, so this time you have to get it. Thanks to this, you will rebuild your life energy enough to switch bodies with your Spirit again.
- My Spirit?
She must have looked very strange, because Inari sighed once again, took a gold-rimmed mirror from behind the lap of his robes and turned it towards her. For a moment she only saw her reflection, but then the image faded, and when it sharpened again she saw something that made her rub eyes to make sure she could see well. Kaoru was sitting in the car, in an immortal white suit and purple shirt, with a bandage on his left eye, and on one of his knees was a tiny fox, no bigger than his hand, slowly swinging a fluffy tail.
- Oh f ... - she wanted to curse profusely, but seeing the scolding gaze of the man in front of her and the collar hanging on his hand, she reflected. - O... my...that's me?
- There is barely that much left of you. A humble memory with a fragment of your consciousness. I must admit that it is very vital. - Inari replied, hiding the mirror. - The medium can absorb the souls of the dead and even pass them on. You changed places with yours.
-So how do I get my tails back? - she continued, motivated like never before.
- You are a spiritual guide, Byakko, so you will do some guides here and there. - the man said, waving his hand gracefully. - You will possess eight people, whom I will point out to you and you will do your best to achieve the effect that you are interested in together.
- Wait ... WHAT ?! - she exclaimed, standing abruptly, ignoring the falling silk. - But how?! Yet...
- Look out for my foxes, they'll bring you messages. - he cut himself off. - How do you say it on Earth? "You'll get it"!

(Nov. 11th, Friday)
Alexander
He took a breath and a sip of his drink. He couldn't believe the pack followed him out onto the balcony. He thought he'd escape the party for a while, because he felt antsy.
Not that he didn't like seeing Viola, but her partner was here too. And...her scent bugged him. As a frequent giver, her energy was higher than average for a human. So it was all the more tempting.
Speaking of, his body tensed when his nose caught another smell. His eyes shifted to the balcony on the other end; of course, shrimps out here too. He thought to himself. Sunday could not come soon enough.
"Wenna would not stop raving about her two new little sisters and little brother," Viola said with a chuckle. "I never would imagine it would be Lynette. It means someone has to start being nicer to her." Viola glanced up at Alexander.
Why does everyone assume I'm fucking evil. I don't even do much to her. Alexander rolled his eyes with his crossed arms. His eyes went from the now-empty balcony to Elise again.
Drake bobbed his head, "Mhm...Lynette's my sister-in-law..." He took a sip from his cup. Drake seemed like he still couldn't get over it. Alexander leaned his back on the balcony.
"You all seem to know her before this," Koi said, whipping a few crumbs from her pastry off her shirt.
"She works with us," Viola mentioned, then smiled at Drake and Alexander, "And now this all makes sense as to why she-"
Drake held worry. Viola realized what she almost started to say and continued.
"Was so powerful." Viola was briefed on the lie.
Koi raised a brow. "uh-huh..." There was a suspiciousness in her tone.
Elise gave Alexander a small wave. He didn't realize he had looked at her longer than he should have. Viola narrowed her eyes at Alexander.
"Don't you get any ideas, or I'll throw you off this balcony." It sounded like a soft threat but a real one, regardless.
Alexander grumbled, "I wasn't." I'm not going to eat any guests at the party. I'd never hear the end of it from my dad, Edgar, and Ulysses. He grumbled. He knew Wenna would join in scolding him for fun. Regardless of his hunger, he had a lot of energy to keep himself together, and...he didn't even feel like playing games.
"It's okay, Viola. If he needs it, I'll be happy to help." Elise offered.
Alexander shuddered. He didn't want to turn down an offer.
Viola lifted Elise and tucked her under her arm, "Alexander does not deserve you. Let's go."
Elise laughed as she was carried by Viola, "sorry, Alexander!"
His stomach growled lightly. He hated when Elise teased him with offers. Why did Viola have to be with a human.
"You ate before the wedding," Drake remarked. He heard Alexander's stomach.
"Yeah, and you drank before it, your point." He gestured to the glass of blood Drake had.
Drake just sipped it, ignoring him.
Koi rested back near the balcony entrance, "how has that been going for you, Drake? Wenna told me you've been drinking a lot lately. Are you practicing magic again?"
Drake pretended he didn't hear the second question, "It's not a big deal. I'm fine."
Alexander turned to Drake, "Have you?" That explains your push for the training this morning.
"Drop it, Chase," Drake replied.
"This isn't about the whole-"
Drake flicked his head to Alexander. He was about to speak, then pursed his lips like he kept something to himself. Then he forced a smile and chuckled. "Are you scared I'm gonna catch up?"
Alexander knew there was more, but Drake continued.
"I'm gonna get another drink." He went back inside.
Alexander faced away, looking out and over everything on the balcony. Annoyed. Even the breeze seemed to mock him as it picked up speed throwing his bangs under his glasses to poke his eyes.
"Did you guys have a fight recently?" Koi asked.
"When do we not fight?" Alexander said, without much effort to joke.
Koi patted his shoulder. She could tell he wanted to be left alone, "Be nice to each other." She said, going too. She knew he wouldn't tell her anything if she pried.
He let his eyes look over the maze in front of their balcony.
Drake's getting antsy, Lynette's now going to be part of the family, I got her brother to worry about, and Ulysses and Charletta are...bound.
His eyes followed those near the maze, speaking of the shrimp. He figured she was going with her brother, then he recognized that cyan hair. You're fucking kidding. Ace? He didn't know why Ace would be going anywhere alone with Lynette.
Maybe he wants to take her energy? Alexander questioned in his head, then sneered. "You go off stupidly alone, and your brother's nowhere to be found."
He shrugged; not my problem. If he does something to her, that's Wick's fault, not mine...
Alexander watched them disappear within the hedges and took another sip of his crested alcohol. It had a contorted, bitter tea-like flavor that he didn't enjoy. Yet he drank it for the energy and similar buzz.
The stormy light blue eyes tracked the others moving from the bonfire. His dad and Edgar are in the distance. He wondered why they were coming back.
He shut his eyes and exhaled aloud before chugging down the rest of his tankard.
It didn't help much. He pulled his eyes away and then noticed Ace again. Except he's alone. Where's the shrimp?
She wasn't lagging behind Ace. He squinted at the maze. He probably drained her and left her there all by herself.
He turned around to forget about it and stopped, his legs twitching. She'd be fine...no if they found out I just watched-
Fuck.
Alexander flipped back, ran forward, letting go of his empty drink, and jumped off the balcony. His feet slammed onto the ground, creasing his dress shoes. He bolted into the maze, following her scent. He didn't smell any other threats, but that didn't totally denote the possibility of another monster being there.
If she got herself fucking eaten, I'm leaving her ass. Let Wicks handle it. Since he wants to act like I'm the worst...
His chest hurt at his thoughts. He couldn't get the image of his dad out of his head. He continued forward. Her scent got sweetly stronger the closer he got. It didn't help his hunger at all. And after he turned one more corner, he reached her.
...
Wicks
"BOSS!" Garter called, slammed into Wicks, and the lanky male picked up, surprisingly possessing far more strength than he looked to have.
Wicks gave up in the hug and hung there. He whispered, "I said you don't have to call me boss."
Garter laughed a devious snicker and let Wicks go. He was a whopping 6'8, skinny tree-like lad with long dark hair, though his vibrant crystal blue eyes were where his real personality shined.
"Sorry, I'm late! BUT listen to this we got a lead on...you know who.~" Garter nudged at Wicks.
He immediately turned left to right to see the few guests dancing nearby. "Not the-" He knew Garter's excitement would lead to him spilling the beans. Wicks then got behind Garter and started to push him towards the stairwell. "Outside."
Wick's eyes scanned over the floor. He didn't see Lynette right away. He figured it'd be fine...it wouldn't take that long. Besides, he didn't know how much she wanted to be around him.
He started to walk with Garter down the stairs. "I told you to take a break, Garter."
"I did. It was nice. I was enjoying the finest of kid cuisines." He said with a smile.
Wicks smirked, "That's not the finest."
"It is to me, most human food, you put WAY too many spices. It completely overpowers everything." He had a slight disgust on his face, then smiled and continued, "But human frozen dinners are mostly perfect." He said, swaying back and forth as they made it to the lobby downstairs. It was pretty empty. But he wanted somewhere a little more secluded.
They went outside the back and around to the fair corner of the building, the same size as the maze. They ensured no one was around, and Wicks did the "lay it on me" gesture.
"I found one of those seller's hideouts, and they seem to be working with Andras." Garter clapped his hands together, "So we can stake it out, we catch him, I can use my eye get information from them and-"
"Why couldn't you tell me this at the office? This is not the place to mention that name. Remember their families involved with him."
"Someone from the agency is also helping supply his people with fake licenses." Garter's tone drifted, "I don't know who. They have to have a higher rank, at least a class 2 like you, but if they're higher, they'd be a real problem."
Wicks smirked, "And you didn't tell the head?"
"She knows. She was the one who explicitly told me to tell you in person. She doesn't think they're part of the chaos unit, but mine, recon." Garter sighed.
"Did you tell her my sister just got married?"
"Yeah."
"And she still wanted me to hear about this now." Wicks shook his head but didn't look mad, "This is why I told you to take breaks, Garter." No, don't worry, I didn't have enough with that Cerberus run-in or "The Pure" group. He sighed, "So come on, tell me the rest."
...
Alexander
He could see the tears streaming down her face, outlining its shape. Why the hell is she crying? He gave a few light huffs, settling down as Lynette spoke.
"What are you doing out here, Xander?"
Alexander quickly gave an excuse. "I wanted to take a jog and get some air...why are you out here?"
He saw her poor attempt at a smile as she continued to look down, "I needed some fresh air too."
"You should head back to the party," Alexander said.
She chuckled. It sounded strained. "I will soon, don't worry. Enjoy your jog."
Alexander squinted heavily at her. He approached, but she didn't flinch like she usually did. He wanted to grab her and drag her back.
"Are you going to stupidly stay out here?" I know you will. You have one of the strongest magic families protecting you.
"Enjoy your jog." Her voice held nothing.
If I fucking grab her now, then what? She'd tell Wicks. So what do I do? Leave her here? He wanted to leave. But if something happens to her, he'll blame my ass because he'd be able to sense I was here, wouldn't he?
He took a deep breath and lied. "I need a rest anyway."
He sat beside her on the bench.
He hoped she'd get up, tell him she'd just head back. She didn't. And he didn't understand why. What the hell happened? He didn't see a point asking or even know how to ask.
He followed where she stared at her soaked flowery pink dress. Its fabric stuck to her tights underneath from the water her eyes expelled.
The silence irked him. Neither of them said a word to the other. He didn't even bring his phone with him, Wenna borrowed it after the little dance.
"I wish I brought my drink," Alexander said to the scrunched up Lynette. She kept her legs and feet close to herself.
It took her a moment before she undid her form and bent down. She reached for the glass she put beside her and brought it up to him. "Here."
Alexander took it in his hand. Wine. He could smell the scent of it and stopped before he drank.
It was only about a two week relationship. But in those two weeks he said more to that Kitsune than he should have...
I'm fucking stupid too.
"You know, you were pretty idiotic to tell Drake, of all people, about the journal." Alexander chuckled to himself. His eyes studied the wine. "He told me what it contained the first day of the festival."
He started to swirl around the wine in the glass. It reminded him of tiny waves.
"Did you think I'd get some dumb ideas from it?" He rolled his eyes at the thought. Mara was crazy, lying, and manipulative.
"What she said before we fought and what I saw solidified it in my head. I knew what the journal would say..." He quit swirling the red liquid, the waves crashing at the edges. He didn't realize he was spinning it too quickly.
"I don't understand why you'd try hiding it from me." That's the only reason I can think of. You think I'd try to do the sick, useless things she'd do to you, like- The thought made him shiver. Humans tasted fine without anything.
He dropped his shoulders, "You hated the deal, and I would have been fine reading something I already anticipated..." His voice trailed off again. She knew too much about me. The dreams thickly moved in his mouth and forced his lips to whisper out. "Or maybe not."
He pulled himself away from the wine. His eyes panned to her slowly, and he let out a sigh, "regardless of the annoying outcome..." his voice muttered, "Thank you for doing that."
His eyes met hers, Lynette's glistened, filling with tears once more, and her lips curled up with a wobbly smile. What did I say? Why are you doing that?
Her voice left in a soft croak, "You're welcome."
He started to take note of the closeness and her size again. Don't look at me like that.
He took another breath, quickly turned away from her, and chugged the drink. He turned his head in disgust, "This isn't crested."
"Huh?"
"It's an energy-made drink that evaporates in the body and leaves a nice feeling, somewhat like alcohol." He remarked as he finally got up. I have to digest this later.
Alexander stood up, "Now come on, Shrimp. If your brother decides to look for you and sees us together, he'll kill me."
She shakily got up as if she hadn't stood on her two feet before. His body jerked, ready to catch her if she fell on reflex. She didn't.
"My brother's way too nice to do that." She said, walking beside him when she got her footing. He went slow for her.
Alexander chuckled and turned to her, "You're fucking kidding." He had a smile on his face seeing the naivety in her response. "You're brother's a psycho."
"Says the human eater."
He rolled his eyes as he turned another corner with her, "Ha, the shrimp is also going to give me shit for that, too, huh?"
Now I know where she gets it, Wicks.
"If people have been telling you stuff about it, then that probably means it's a problem."
Alexander smiled as they reached the maze's end, "Tell me every little thing you got because I'll just pay you back for all of it on Sunday."
There it was, her slight jump. "That's what I'm talking about; you're crazy."
Crazy. You've met crazy, and so have I. You're just difficult and should just-
"LYENNTE!" Wicks's voice reached Alexander's ears. He turned his attention to the force that came hurling at them. Wicks made sure to get between them and held Lynette. "What are you doing alone with that thing?"
"Thing?" Lynette's confused.
Alexander growls, "Fuck you too." He flicked off Wicks and walked toward the party building again. He passed a tall, long-haired stranger with Wicks, who he didn't recognize. The stranger raised his hand in a friendly gesture. Alexander didn't wave back, but he shouted, "TAKE CARE OF FUCKING SISTER."
...
Ulysses
He returned from the bonfire to get a few drinks for everyone. Standing by the table near the stairs, he saw Ace come along. He smiled at him.
"Hey, there you are, I sent Koi looking for you earlier, and she couldn't find you. I'm heading back to the bonfire..." His smooth tone slowed. He rarely saw Ace look so frustrated. "Family issues?"
"Why didn't you tell me Lynette was a human?"
Ulysses almost dropped a drink. He fumbled with it but kept his grip. He placed it down. He tried to play it off, "What? She's a Payton."
"She admitted that she was adopted, and you knew. I can't believe you wouldn't tell me." Ace started to pour himself some crested drink.
"She told you?" I thought Charletta told her not to. "Well, you shouldn't say that so loud."
Ace scoffed, "Why? They shouldn't have adopted a stain if the family didn't want to ruin their reputation."
Ulysses stopped making the drinks too. He turned back to Ace. "That's my wife's sister."
"Then why would they act like she's something she's not? They're embarrassed by her." Ace said, "I might as well scream it from the heavens."
Ulysses's shoulders raised, "What is your problem? You will not talk about my family in front of me with such disrespect." He felt a tenseness in his chest.
"My problem?" Ace smashes the glass in his hand, and the shards fall. "You want to act like your all that because you got to marry the perfect prodigy incubator."
Ulysses's eyes widened before they sharpened and came down. His teeth slammed together. He had heard this from Ace once before but had yet to repeat it since then. Since the last time, Ulysses told Ace to never disrespect Charletta again.
It had been fine since, but that was a long time ago. Ulysses then smiled, twisting with their curl. He threw his arm around Ace and whispered while he was close.
"You may be stronger than me in magic, but if I hear one more dumb word come out of your mouth before you leave, I will not stop until I remove your tongue and vocal cords." Ulysses gripped harder as he could feel Ace pull. "Do not ever do anything against my family, now go." He let go.
Ace pulled away, and his eyes glowed, then faded as he scanned the room. His lip raises with a snarl, but he turns around and goes to leave, bumping the table as he does.
Ulysses' hands were trembling. He had a history with Ace. Other than that, he might have lost it. He took a deep breath in, then, after holding it in for a few seconds, he released it. He grabbed the glasses and put up his smile.
He passes Alexander coming in and invites him to the bonfire. Alexander declines, saying he's going to find Drake first.
...
Drake
Why was the empty tankard on the balcony? He groaned in his thoughts. He went down the staircase into the main lobby below, the wedding hall behind him, and to either side were hallways that led to dressing rooms.
He thought he heard Pete's heartbeat down the right.
Is he with his dad? I don't hear his... Drake slowly and silently went down the empty hall, passing a room or two before he arrived at the groom's dressing room. He listened at the door.
He heard his own dad's voice. "Pete's."
"I can't act all happy, aren't you worried? Now Ulysses is involved with all of this." Pete's voice was a whisper, yet it held such anger.
"We've talked about this-"
"WE were there; you've seen what they've done! Those children helped destroy Yexodele." His voice trembled. Drake had only heard Alexander's Dad's anger one other time.
What are they talking about?
Edgar stammered, "Pete's, if they had bad intentions, why pick my family? We aren't powerful."
"Why else, Danee? She's involved with many other monsters. She's built connections and foundations among them. They want to destroy it all again." Drake could hear a loud THUD along with Pete's declaration.
There was a silence between them. Drake could hear the rapid beats from Pete's. They were so loud they almost started to deafen Drake. Then his dad's hum came through.
"We have to move on; I can hear it from them. I don't think any of them really mean harm." It went quiet for another second, "if they do, I'll handle it."
"You or I together can't win, and you know that." Pete's replied.
"I'll do anything to protect my family. You wouldn't be fighting for my mistake."
"Don't start with me, Eddie. You know I'd die for you first."
His father laughed, "Just for that, out of spite, I'll die first." There was another sigh as they kept throwing jabs at one another, "We should head back. I don't want Danee to storm the halls and assume things when she sees us alone together."
"It's understandable..." The flirtatious joke left Pete's mouth, "You do love to take advantage of your prey alone, don't you, Eddie?~"
Drake scrambled to get off the wall near the door. He hurried down the hallway and back toward the exit as he heard his dad yell at Pete's for the comment. He ran and almost crashed into Alexander, who had entered the lower level main lobby.
They both spoke in unison, "Where the fuck have you been?"
