Currently on offer are the assorted paopu palms designs, including the table mirror, the Sora & Riku diorama, and 4x6/5x7 picture frames!

You can get them unfinished (bare wood), sealed, or painted and sealed - please allow a little extra time for drying times on the sealed/painted options! For a small fee, I can also personalize the piece with a message or quote on the back.

These are made to order, so they're available in limited quantities for now. I'll open up more slots as I complete orders and eventually have a few stock items as shop fill/con stock.

Mehrak Project Day 4:

GUYS IT FINALLY HAPPENED - I LASER CUT OUT MEHRAK’S FRONT SIDE ‼️‼️‼️

(Please ignore my sloppy laying of the cardboard, istg it looks better when fully aligned but I kept bumping it lmao)

I laser cut pretty much everything except for the middle pieces bc I just high key got sick of waiting for the machine 💀 I will print the right size pieces soon lol.

I am debating making a backside but I think I will make sides for her, however, those would have to be finished next week bc I go back to school after that so I won’t have access to the laser cutter anymore. Hopefully, I kick into high gear and get it done but we’ll see if it happens lol.

Even if I don’t get sides, I will paint this soon-ish and hot glue everything into place!

Working with Vinyl and Laser Cutters

Workshop 7/11

For this workshop I wanted to work with the pictures of shadows I have taken. I thought that simplifying the silhouettes of the legs and shadows would be fun.

I arrived a bit late for the workshop ‘cause the bus, again, but I had prepared sketches the day before.

However, to work with the vinyl and laser cutter you only need outlines, so I went and took apart these drawings into pieces of outline that the cutters would be able to work with.

These sketches would be scanned and then finished by capturing the outline digitally to be moved to the cutting software.

And we have the final result.

I am planning on further using these silhouettes for my work, possibly for printing.

I would have also loved to do the rest of my sketches so I would have variables and a little silhouette animation going on.

The Playa Crawler: A Kinetic Walking Chair for Burning Man

In 2017, engineer Mark Ellis designed an innovative kinetic chair called The Playa Crawler to navigate the vast expanse of Burning Man. Inspired by the Strandbeest sculptures of Dutch artist Theo Jansen, this unique chair is specifically crafted to withstand the alkaline terrain of the Black Rock Desert.

Mark Ellis wanted a personal vehicle that was both functional and original for getting around Burning Man. This led him to create a chair that walks using a system of articulated legs.
