I'm rewatching Night At The Museum but like a LARRY DALEY/DALEY! READER IN TWISTED WONDERLAND!? Like, they're related to Larry Daley and shit and they were training to be a Night Gaurd for the museum but now, they have to deal with overblots and stuff and they're armed with nothing but a trusty flash light?

- Like, you've dealt with a gigantic skeleton T-Rex, so you're not SUPER phased when you meet Grim. He's like a little tiny version of Rexy, you know?

- You're fighting with magical students and you casually blind them with your flashlight before hitting them with it just like you're dad taught you and stuff. Like, whenever Jade or Floyd sneak on you, your reflexes are faster and you're all: "SORRY! SORRY, REFLEX. I got kidnapped by a lot of museum artifacts back in my world so I developed, like, you know, a 6th sense."

- No because I can imagine that you're so unphased by paintings that come to life and you have such avid conversations with them.

- Not to mention you have to get used to the fact that the VILLAINS in your Disney stories are their gods and you give them due respect but its still so bizarre.

- BUT NOW CONSIDER THIS IDEA: UNCLE JEDEDIAH AND UNCLE OCTAVIUS END UP TRAVELING WITH YOU TO TWISTED WONDERLAND.

- The magic of this world keeps them alive without the tablet and since you're all by yourself, they're super protective of you despite their small size and stature. Also, they have a shaky relationship with Grim because he tried to eat them but now, all three of them are just trouble.

- Like they ride around on his back from class to class with you as you adjust to your new responsibilities to this world.

- ALSO, ACE WHEN HE FIRST PICKS ON YOU. Like, he grabs Jed and he's all: "Aw, how stupid, you've got a little cowboy toy?" and then Jedediah is all: "BOY, HAVE YOU DONE LOST YOUR MIND!? DON'T MAN HANDLE ME-" and Ace drops him and you catch Jed.

- NO BECAUSE JEDEDIAH AND OCTAVIUS GETTING ATTATCHED TO YOUR NEW FRIENDS, DUECE AND ACE AS WELL. Like, they can somewhat keep you safe in this new world and plus, when Deuce gets a bit hot headed, Octavius keeping him calm and saying some wise words. Or if Ace is complaining, Jedediah is standing on his shoulder and scolding him before Ace is all: "OKAY! OKAY, FINE, YOU MIGHT HAVE A POINT."

- AND THEN WHAT IF THE MUSEUM BACK IN THE WORLD WHERE YOUR DAD IS AT HAS A SPECIAL MIRROR FROM TWISTED WONDERLAND, like, he finds it and you're able to talk to everyone else from it.

- "(Y/n)!? ARE YOU OKAY!?"

Nobody asked, but here’s what I think happens to Nick Daley post-NATM3.

Is being a DJ his career path? No, not for the long run. He goes to Ibiza for a while, parties every night, absolutely crushes it, and then gets burnt out. Six months in, he’s wondering about his long-term goals once more. After lengthy phone calls with Larry and Don, Nick decides to go back to NYC to figure things out.

He works odd jobs, takes various night classes for every subject imaginable, and overall just tries to figure out what he wants to do.

Everything changes when he takes an Anthropology class. Suddenly, everything clicks for him.

He enrolls into university, pushes his way through years of schooling. He interns at museums, studying archeology and history. And finally, it comes time for him to write his dissertation. Nick struggles to find a topic to write about, but luckily, he has a LOT of experience with historical figures.

He writes his dissertation about a dear friend of his: Ahkmenrah. And once it’s done, and he’s officially a forensic anthropologist, he immediately lands a job at the British Museum.

Every night, he gets to hang out with some of his friends again. And finally, Nick feels like he’s found his purpose.

Here’s the randomest thing ever, but here’s a post of me ranting how well NATM characters would be at bowling:

Jedediah: 3/10 if there was a bowling ball his size, he’d do ok?? But I don’t think he’d have the time and patience to learn how to bowl. If he got frustrated, I can imagine he’d try to shoot the ball.

Octavius: 5/10 I think he’d be better than Jedediah, for sure. A lot more practice and grace, but I don’t think he’d stay interested for long. Maybe a round or so, but he wouldn’t be a pro.

Teddy: 8/10 I think he’d be pretty decent, maybe even pick up bowling as a hobby. Not much to say here.

Attila: -1/10, would probably throw the ball with both of his hands, breaking the bowling lane. It’s ok, Attila. Not everyone was made for sports 💔

Ahkmenrah: 0/10 He’d be more interested in the served chicken tenders and fries made in the back instead of playing. Which— I totally respect

Larry: 10/10 He was a total bowler growing up. If he really tried, he could’ve gotten a scholarship with how good he was. Though, I think he preferred to keep it as a hobby. But he’s really good— I think he’d even know the technique where you use both of your hands. But— I may be biased since I’m totally not Larry Daley

Sacajawea 7/10 Similar to teddy, I think she’d be ok. Though, it might take her a moment to understand the rules of the game and such.

There’s a lot that I enjoy about it

I love how it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It gets serious when the moment calls for it but it’s just light hearted and silly most of the time. The dinosaur acts like a doggy. It's just so silly.

The casting for the first movie especially is something I really love. It was done well especially for a 2006 movie. The casting for Sacagawea was far from accurate, but casting an actress of indigenous American heritage is more than a lot of movies can say. Rami Malek was amazing as Ahkmenrah, it was actually his idea to have Ahk speak with an English accent because he learned English at Cambridge, he almost didn't get the part because he auditioned with the accent and they didn't initially like it. I couldn't imagine anyone but Ben Stiller being Larry Daley.

Jedidiah and Octavius have the best "friendship" in all of media ever. The ultimate enemies to lovers.

The fact that it takes place in a museum is just the best. I love museums and even before seeing Night at the Museum it was my dream to go to a museum where the exhibits were alive. My sister and I were convinced that the wolves at our local museum were secretly alive when we were kids.

Twisted Night At The Museum HCs/Thoughts/Concepts:

These are brain farts but ya'll are making me feel like I have the biggest brain so-

- If the Daley! Reader had a Unique Magic it'd be: "Alive for the Night" where basically any statues on display and stuff can come to life. Including the ones of the Great Seven but they can only do it at night. (Idk if you guys want them to have it or not, ya'll can fight about it in the notes)

- The Daley! Reader was also adopted by Larry after Nicky moved out and became a DJ, Larry is still a super protective father whose very anxious and is looking through various museum archives to figure out if something can be done about his child whose stuck in Twisted Wonderland. He requires you to check the mirror and talk to him at least 4 times a day to know you're alright and if you miss a time, YOU BETTER HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE-

- No but parent teacher conferences and you have to hold the mirror so that your teachers can talk to Larry through it.

Larry Daley + His Relationship with the Staff:

- Crowley: No, he's been in this game long enough to know that Crowley isn't trustworthy and while you KNOW he isn't trust worthy, he is the reason that Larry wants you to check in 4 times a day. Crowley tries to paint it like everything is fine and Larry pretends to believe him. Crowley is just a bit off put by Larry because you're already such an odd and resourceful individual, that he can't imagine what your father (the man who raised you) must be like and while he laughs whenever Larry promises to bring you home, Crowley slowly starts to believe him. Like, bro, he deals with a magic tablet and brought a family of old Egyptian pharaohs together, Larry Daley is getting his child back.

- Crewel is the only man in this school that Larry trusts, along with Trein, but Larry does notice that Crewel seems a lot more concerned with your safety and has a soft spot for you. Crewel will also give Larry due respect and while he's not sure about his bland outfit choices, he's very much aware that your father loves and is worried for you and so, Crewel will make sure you are well behaved and taken care off until you're able to reunite. It's bittersweet for him because he does grow to get attatched to you but soon realizes that he's never gonna be your father back home. (SPLIT CUSTODY IS ALL I'M GONNA SAY).

- Vargas: Larry hates him so much. Like in the movies, he's always snarky and closed off from people he dislikes so their conversations are always so passive aggressive. Like, Vargas is all: "Ha, no wonder you look so wimpy! Look at your dad!" and Larry is all: "First of all, they're adopted (but still my kid) so neither of us can really say anything but second of all, I went face to face with a triceratops, so, yeah. Not sure if they have those in your world, but thats pretty impressive." and Vargas just brushes him off and he HATES IT.

- Next is Trein, who is like a strict grandpa to you and one of the other teachers who get along with Larry. As a father himself, he admires Larry trying to protect you as best as he can while he's in a different world, and he couldn't imagine what it would be like if his own children where stranded in a place he couldn't protect them in. So yeah, while your dad is awkward, Trein tries to help him out and ease both his and your anxieties. I also can totally see Dexter the Cappuchin Monkey and Lucius fighting across the mirror.

- Sam is one that Larry doesn't see to often aside from Larry trying to find old spells in old archives that require magical ingredients that he doesn't know about so he'll ask Sam about them or see if he can find any suitable substitutes and Sam will do it of course, for a fee. He really admires your dad's dedication but he also admires the relationship and bond you two have. Yeah, you might come into his shop to rant about how protective he is and some other flaws but you love him dearly. Sometimes he'll throw in a few freebies because at the end of the day, you two just want to be with each other again.

NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT SOME STUDENTS AND HOW I FEEL LIKE INTERACTIONS WITH THEM WOULD GO.

Now back to some general headcanons:

- Okay so have you guys seen the Stuart Little movies? Where he has a bunch of ladders and stuff around the room because he's small and can't get to places faster, thats kinda what you have to do for Jedediah and Octavius. They sleep on your nightstand after Deuce and Jack either made tiny beds for them or you made them in a wood work class or something.

- I can also totally see that after the first winter break, your first year friends bring back some old childhood toys that maybe Jedediah and Octavius can use to help or to help them travel faster around the campus.

- Deuce brought back an old remote controlled Magic Wheel (the motorcycle thing he likes) and gave it to them so not only can they ride around in style but they also have a tendency to drive recklessly and trip over poor unsuspecting students who are just trying to walk to their class. They'll do it especially if they mess with you.

- Ace brings them back like, tiny weapons from his old toy soldiers and stuff and while they might not do much, he just thinks its so funny how serious Octavius is when he's all: "Thank you, Child of Trappola, for I now have an arsenal to defend Fort Ramshackle!" and Jedediah rolling his eyes.

- You try to keep them on higher ground, especially due to the rats but I love the idea that when you're away on classes and you trust them not to do anything stupid, they're riding around on Grim and throwing toy spears at any rats running around and defending their home. Like to them, it's an intense battle where they could possibly die but to the ghosts, it looks like they're just annoying the rats that they eventually just give up and leave because they're so annoying and rambunctious.

- Out of all of your friends, they like to use Jack as a mode of transportation. After all, he's HUGE and when they sit on his shoulders, they're absolutely amazed by how much they can see. Jack tries his best to remember they're on his shoulders but if a class is really boring and he forgets, he'll lean on one shoulder which causes them to lose balance and almost fall but hed got quick reflexes and apologizes to them.

- THE WAY EPEL AND THEM WOULD GET ALONG. Like, Epel will walk in all roughed up because he got into a fight and walk past you to rant to Jedediah and Octavius and talk about how some kids were picking on him for being cute and little and Jed and Oct are all: "YA BETTER HAVE SHOWN 'EM THAT WHAT FOR!" and Epel is all: "COURSE I DID!" and you just sigh because you know that Vil is gonna ask to keep Epel away from your "little raggedy friends".

- BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SEBEK ACTUALLY RESPECTS YOUR LITTLE CREW. Especially after he finds out you want to be a Night Gaurd and mistakes your words and believes that you come from a family of noble gaurdians who keep the ancient relics of your world safe (which is kinda true but its not that dramatic) and when he sees you defend yourself with a mere flashlight, you become his idol.

- IN NIGHT OF THE MUSEUM TWO, THERE'S THIS SCENE THAT FITS PERFECTLY WITH YOU AND SEBEK FIRST MEETING, HERE'S THE LINK BUT GO TO 1:57 BUT THAT'S HOW I IMAGINE YOUR FIRST MEETING WITH SEBEK GOES.

You, whispering as your faces are squished together: "Listen, fae boy, you do not know who you're dealing with. I've seen things in my world, stuff you can't even imagine."

Sebek, whispering back: "Like what kind of stuff?"

You: "I'm not gonna tell you, but you're gonna drop your sword-"

Sebek: "The way you said it just made it sound like you were gonna say something really cool-"

You: "Yeah, you don't get to hear it, drop the sword-"

- OKAY BUT YOU BEING DEEMED THE NIGHT GAURD OF NIGHT RAVEN COLLEGE. Like idk, maybe you don't need as much sleep as everyone or during weekends, you just hibernate and then survive on naps and energy drinks throughout the week (it's such an unhealthy habit, all of the Dorm Leaders are concerned and Vil might trick you into drinking a sleeping potion if your eyebags get too prominent) but I love the idea that the bullying rates go down. Hell, even the Savanahclaw dorm kids don't try to start with as many fights with you around because they know you'll finish them with your flashlight. Like they're all cornering you and you blind one of them temporarily before you do some cool fighting moves. Your quick wit and training as a night gaurd is the only thing you've got to give you an edge in this world and by God are you gonna use it.

-And even if that fails you, you've got friends who've got your back. Like you get cornered by some bullies and then they feel something stab their feet and Jed and Octavius are bravely stabbing their shoes and the students are hopping around in pain.

- But yeah, the Night Gaurd in you just makes you walks around Night Raven College and look at all the various statues and history and you read and do your research on Twisted Wonderland.

- Like in the first movie, the thing Larry did after his first wild night at the museum was do research and by God, do you dedicate yourself to doing research on Twisted Wonderland and the study of magic.

- ALSO MALLEUS JOINING YOU DURING YOUR LATE NIGHT PATROLS OF YOUR SCHOOL GROUNDS and telling you everything there is to know about the magic here. You know how Ahkmenrah calls Larry "Gaurdian of Brooklyn"? I feel like instead of Child of Man, Malleus would call you "Gaurdian of the Night" because you tell him that's your dad's job and you want to fill in his shoes.

The fact that you have your own separate bathroom, the fact that Jed and Octavius would "stand gaurd" at your room door and yell at them for trying to walk in, and other subtle differences like that.

- If you call him out/ask him about this stuff, he WILL get flustered and stammer out an excuse. HE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO THINK HE'S TREATING YOU DIFFERENT BECAUSE YOU'RE A GIRL- Well, he is but it's not for any sexist reason- oh God, it sounds so bad when he says it like that-

- *cue Jed and Octavius cackling at poor Deuce*

- Don't worry! This awkward phase doesn't last forever. He adjusts to it and still jokes around and hangs out with you as usual, he does grow increasingly protective of you but he also knows when you can handle things yourself.

- I ALSO FEEL LIKE HE FEELS BAD THAT YOU DON'T HAVE ANY GIRL FRIENDS, like he notices that when you guys go to town to pick up ingredients for Trey or paint for the roses, you'll look longingly over to the girls who are out laughing and giggling with their friends, fawning over cute things, and it reminds you of your old friends back in your world.

- So he'll convince the first year gang to do more things with you that might make you happy. Such as planning a nail polishing session! Sebek is down and wants to paint his nails black like Malleus, Epel brings special "no odor" nail polish since the smell is too overwhelming for Jack (Epel won't really do jail polish but Jack would and Epel will do his nails), and Ace is hesitant but Deuce is all: "C'mon dude! They do so much for us. It's the absolute LEAST we can do for them!" and he does do it (and likes it).

- You do Deuce's nails and he gets a little shy again like how he did when he finally realized you were, in fact, a girl. However, when you take a break from your rant and look him in the eyes to thank him with a bright smile, it was totally worth it to him.

- You guys do have more nail polishing sessions because honestly, they really enjoy them.

Okay okay so a few years back when I was very much into the NATM fandom (almost embarrassingly so), I was obsessed with Al Capone.

Imagine Al Capone meeting the fish mafia and either loving their whole vibe (especially the lounge) or not trusting them one bit and just pulling Daley!Yuu (a.k.a his pseudo-child, much to Larry's annoyance) to the side like 'I'd be careful o' these fellas - they seem like trouble'

(Cut to Larry like - You and your gang tried to teach them tax evasion last week!)

No but he would meet Deuce and would it would be like instant respect because one gangster recognises another (even though Deuce is trying to reform)

- YEAH, NO, UNCLE AL SOMEHOW APPEARING IN RAMSHACKLE (maybe various NATM characters appear in your room, so like one day it's Rexy, the other its Teddy, and so on and so forth) and maybe Battle At the Smithsonian happened when you were pretty small and Al and his Crew had to hold you hostage but ended up adoring you instead.

- Essentially, Al and the boys are confused but SO HAPPY WHEN THEY SEE YOU AGAIN. You walk downstairs to Ramshackle and see them standing in your living room only to lighten up when they see you♡

- They attend the school as if they're your bodyguards, like Ace and Deuce getting scared when these random monochrome men grab them and demand who they are but once you tell them that they're your friends, they're letting them go and fixing up their uniforms.

- Right off the bat, Al prefers Deuce more than Ace. This is shown when he tells Ace: "See, if you were alive in my time, that obnoxious mouth of yours would be filled with lead." and then he moves onto Deuce and he's all: "But this kid here has a look to 'im. There might be a place for you-"/ "ALPHONSE, NO."/ "What's with the government name, kiddo? M'just saying!"

- While he does find some elements of Twisted Wonderland odd and different, he absolutely knows mafia when he sees it and he immediately clocks the Tweels. Like, he walks into class with you and he's all: "Oh, those two are definetly mafia or whatever they got here in Disneyville." and the Tweels instantly look at him which only seems to confirm what he said.

"Prefect~ Whose this? Another friend from your world?"

"Haha, hope he can swim, Shrimpy!~"

- Al isn't very intimidated by these two and once you explain who he is, or, well, who he represents, then the Tweels are much more calm. They're not gonna outright tell you they're mafia but you hate how well they get along with Al after you told him who he was.

- NOW, Al might play wingman here. If you've got your eyes set on someone, good! His boys will either intimidate or black mail them into asking you out or, if Al decides he doesn't want to scold them, he'll be nice and try to gently nudge them in your direction (aka, just tell them that you like them and to shoot their shot).

- If you DON'T have someone you like, he might push you in the direction of Deuce, Floyd, or Jade.

- Preferably Deuce. He's got a good heart and a fair amount of muscle to protect you and from what he's heard, and he seems to want to keep you safe. A nice kid whose got a good head on his shoulders.

- However the reason why he considers Jade/Floyd is only if YOU like one of them and make the mistake of telling him or he finds out. First of all, he teases you about it and is all: "Wanna follow in your old man's footsteps, eh?" and you roll your eyes and Larry doesn't know why but his dad sense is tingling.

- But seriously, he will most definetly support it since you're very capable of handling yourself, he's seen you grow up into the troublemaking teenager you are but he also knows you have a tendency to land yourself in danger so he'd feel at ease if someone like Jade or Floyd had your back.

- But also, watch him be all: "But just so you know, there might be mistresses in the picture. If they're decent guys, obviously they won't have any but just keep an eye out and keep that in mind-"

- Jade and Floyd just being offended when he puts that idea into your head and assuring you that none of that will be happening-

- It was midnight when he first noticed you. The downpour outside was drowning out the noises of the exhibits, but he could see your lips moving as you talked to Ahkmenrah casually. - His first thought was, who the hell is this woman? She must be crazy to break into the museum, let alone stand there talking to living exhibits…

- Then Rexy came barreling through the lobby, and you shouted out over the rain and the other exhibits,

“REXY! Learn to walk, ya overgrown dog!”

- Rexy slowed down, and nuzzled your face as an apology. You were all grins.

- Larry walked up to you with a whole speech prepared, but once he got to shaking your hand, it all melted away. Your eyes, somehow, had done something to his brain. Or maybe it was the little-too-firm handshake you gave him. Either way, he was at a loss for words.

”It’s nice to meet you, Larry. I’m Y/N.” You smiled some more. “I know we haven’t met, but I’m Gus’ niece. He used to take me here when I was little.”

- Larry was a little put off at first, just remembering all that had happened on his first few days of the job, but he quickly realized that you weren’t a whole lot like your uncle, and had no desire in taking the tablet.

- You had been caught in the rain, waiting for a late-night train that never arrived, and decided to camp out in the museum for the night. Most of the exhibits knew you, and you knew all the secret ways of getting in, so you figured you could just hang out for awhile. - Larry offered to show you some of the new renovations and a couple exhibits you hadn’t met yet, and of course you agreed. Ahkmenrah came too because he had never met you when you were a kid since the old night guards kept him locked up.

- You and Larry spent a lot of time discussing the exhibits, and he found out that you knew even more about them than he did! You could even speak a bit of Hun.

- Larry was entranced by the way you navigated the museum effortlessly, and how much the exhibits loved you. Even the Easter Island exhibit called you “bun bun” — an old nickname.

- He found out that you took the same late-night train every Friday to visit Gus in a nursing home. Luckily for him, Ahkmenrah suggested that you come every Friday, and you agreed. You just changed your train to an even later time, and could spend most of the night at the museum.

- Naturally, you exchanged phone numbers, so Larry could “make sure he could let you in the front door” (really he just wanted your number).

- He finds himself calling and updating you on the exhibits every night when you’re not there.

- He’s never had anyone he could talk to about the museum the way he can talk to you. It’s a fast friendship, and on the nights when it’s raining again and he walks you to the train station, sharing an umbrella, and you lean close, and you kiss his cheek goodnight, he wonders if it could be something more.
