#ocarina of time #oot #impa #zelda #sheik #ganondorf #i think i decided zelda/sheik is a cornish rex but im still not sure about impa & ganon’s breeds #visually tho impa is built kind of like a bengal and i sort of hc her as having albinism so she has v little pigmentation regardless #ganon is like. a medium haired maine coon or similar large breed. with tortoiseshell coloration that is incredibly rare in male cats #the fur pattern i gave him is a little bit more organized than in actual tortoiseshells i think but sshhhhh #and then sheik’s eye color changes to red and her fur pattern also slightly changes #to vaguely resemble sheik’s emo hairstyle covering one eye in the game :3 #anyway. yeah

I do lowkey love both oriental shorthairs and bengals I just can't personally justify buying a purebred cat when the local shelter is constantly full of them.

#I would consider getting a dog from a responsible breeder because dogs have been purpose-bred for millennia #and breed does matter for things like temperament and lifestyle suitability and health #but by and large a cat is a cat and purebreds are more of an aesthetic thing than anything else #there aren't livestock guardian cats yknow?

How would you go about breeding just. The most enormous chicken that can healthily exist. I'm talking like. Bigger than a cat

Those already exist, Brahmas and Jersey Giants can easily be bigger then a cat. There are many breeds of chickens who can tower over a cat.

Like a Brahma rooster can easily be 2.5 feet tall my friend.

Its just like with all animals, including humans the bigger you are the more strain you put on your heart and joints.

For really really tall people for example they are pretty much always going to have back and joint pain as they get older. Same goes for animals, a really big dog is going to put more strain on their joints which has to carry them and their heart that has to pump all that blood.

For chickens sometimes they are not bred for a long lifespan so its important to find a breeder who also breeds for health and longevity, not just egg production or looks.

I'd love to not put pintos in Bruma because medieval roman horses seemed to mostly be precursors to breeds that don't come in pinto (barbs, camargues, maybe contemporary iberian breeds and arabians a bit) but they're straight up labelled "paint horse" and referred to as such in dialogue so my hands are tied on this one.

#I'm mostly leaning toward barb with my light horse model #mostly because it fit best on the skeleton #why paint horses though. why a modern american breed #based off two other modern american and english breeds #I mean why breeds at all really #horse/dog/cat breeds are a pretty modern concept and before that animals were by and large purpose bred #so you'd have work horses and riding horses and war horses etc #but there weren't defined breeds with carefully monitored standards #which I think was probably a better system tbh but that's neither here nor there #I think maybe the devs have mixed up pinto and paint?#and also the concept of color vs breed in general?

#in winter he curls up so so small to keep his beans warm #but then also I have conversations with other cat owners #and they talk about getting their obese cat on a diet & exercise regime #and the cat in question is the same weight as Rory at his absolute skinniest #so many people have met him and immediately asked if he's a Bengal #and I can only be like idk??? he came from the shelter!#but he is the size and temperament and color of a Bengal #tho he has classic marble swirls rather than leopard spots #which is apparently less desirable when breeding Bengals #anyway #he is my large leggy beautiful boy #the only man in my life has four legs and no balls #lol #cats #cat pics #my posts #my pics #please ignore my extremely broken dresser #the drawers do not go in farther than that. the power one is in fact sitting on the floor until I can fix its rails

i think a very telling point about modern western society is

we have an industry that people pay to spread poison and torture devices around to kill mice and cockroaches and rats and snakes and things and we also have an industry that people pay to breed and sell mice and cockroaches and rats and snakes and things

and you will find both of these businesses in the same town

#i find something about this truth so disturbing #because its lives #and we are squeezing large amounts of lives out of the ether via some pretty creepy practices on one end and shoving lives of the same kind #into the meat grinder on the other end and it just somehow seems like an enormous and too-casual affront to nature #and fuck actually we are low key doing the same thing to cats #just breeding and killing and breeding and killing #its crazy #we don't even eat them or anything #i don't know if feels unholy #yes even the cockroaches #like they are just little forrest janitors #and like sure i hate them in my house too #but its not their fault #and to get into a poisoning war with them while at the same time farming them to be fed alive to other bred and captive animals #the whole thing seems weird to me #but like weird in the way that makes the universe mad at you

#ive briefly looked up Largest Cat Breeds for ganondorf and im like. is he a maine coon. is he a chausie #a mix of some kind maybe.#would he be red or black #impa would also probably be fairly large/athletic. probably not very social lol #for sheik i would imagine a breed that’s like very lanky/quick/intelligent #cat people infodump to me #i cant guarantee i will go with the suggestions but like it will help agsjfhsk

Still in a state of zonked out misery

The allergies this year. Wtf?

My face looks like it was punched.

Add in the extra misery of not having good sleep for the past two months for reasons mostly out of my control (good sleep should return this Saturday night, hopefully, when a whole bunch of new furniture finnnnnnally arrives).

And then there is the recovery from ??? Which left my digestive system in a bad place (now recovered although I am still on a medically strict/controlled diet but slowly adding safe-ish foods back in).

My eyes are so red and crusty. Fucking trees.

#fwiw: I prefer to sleep alone #bc all the space— I need it #but that is no longer possible #due to other circumstances #so now I am in a state of misery #until this king sized mattress and bed #arrive #and hopefully that is enough room #for two people and two LARGE BREED CATS #ugh

not against Bengal cats but I do believe that their (and others, such as savannahs) popularity leads to more hybridizing of cats with wild cats. Thus leading to animals that suffer. Bc animals that are half domestic half not will always struggle in a household. Every one of these breeds are for shits and giggles, no cat benefited from these crossings

#which. cat breeding is largely for fun #not saying thats a bad thing and there are benefits! but theyre all pet breeds. so their function isnt really taken into account #that is also why we have scottish folds and munchkins #*rather isnt inherently taken

Incorrect breed guesses, Cat edition:

Everyone thinks Rebel is a Bengal or Bengal cross. They don't believe me when I say she is your typical cat. Shorthair variety, brown spotted tabby in color. Her spots look nothing like Bengal spots.

She doesn't even have a breed...just a type.

#little known fact but most cats are just...cats.#domestic shorthair and domestic long hair and considered types not breeds #cats are wild #its so cool to see so many coat variations in a species that still largely is breeding without a lot of human interference #i mean its not cool that we have a cat over population problem #but getting a cat from a breeder is pretty rare #most people just rescue or adopt kittens that were oopsies without people intendjngnto have kittens #i know a lot.of.coat variations probably came from human breeding but the fact there is such a variety is cool #coat colors are fun #most wild type genetics run back to agouti (typically expressing as brown) so its cool.to.seensoany variations from that.
