@cupcakesmuses @themightyzwei gets an elliot
---
The library wasnt really like one of the prestigious ones in zedash or anything like that. They made a point to say that all are welcome, and keep that in their actions. That might've meant more riff raff but as far as Elliot could see, not really. He didn't really batt an eye at the taller, a little bit worse for wear man that came in during their shift as the clerk.
"Hello!" he beams a smile. "Is there anything i can help you find?"
#muse: elliot#cr verse: elliot#/// you can add nott in too if you waaannnnnnnnaaaaa#themightyzwei#lara!caleb

@themightyzwei @cupcakesmuses didn't ask for this (vc) (song)
---
"Caleb!" They sob, Muse watches as he lurches deeper into the water towards the sirens and the rocks they'll probably kill him upon. "Caleb!!" the tiefling screams as the hands come to keep from joining him.
"He's a lost cause." the old ferryman is one of the many holding the tiefling back from edge of the water "there's no way to break that spell."
There had to be a way. They fumble pulling their harp to the front of them, strumming it. Maybe, just maybe.. But they'd have to do more than just strumming the thing. Plucking out a sad melody, interspersed with long strums through the cords, they think. They'd been writing some songs, none of them potent enough to out magic the magic making him wade closer to his death.
Did you think id give up?
that this mightve shook the love from me?
Or that I was on the brink
How could you think darling I’d scare so easily?
Their song somber, voice raising at every line. they pause, trying to look for any sign of him coming back, before playing faster now, strumming harder.
Now that it’s done
There’s not one thing that I would change
My life was a storm Since I was born
How could I fear any hurricane?

He nods, cocking his head to the side and grinning a little. One part about being a bard that surprised others was how much he liked hearing other peoples stories. One could talk to him for hours and only hear the basics about Killian, But Killian could learn everything from them. He lets out a small 'Oh' before rubbing the back of his neck, its not everyday people asked about his childhood.
"My Mother is nomadic, so we never really stayed in one place long enough to pick up anything accent wise." He chuckled. "We used to live in this Carriage house and only stay places longer than.. say three weeks when there was repairs being done or the weather wasn't cooperating."
“Oh, no. Well, not originally. I work here now. At the academy, on and off.” Caleb blushed at the flirtation, chuckling slightly at the other’s embarrassment. He was fairly well dressed. There was a humbleness about him that didn’t quite match the silvery vest he wore under a dark burgundy suit.
“I’m not much for singing, but thank you for the compliment. I grew up in the country, a little village in this area. So the accent…” He waved his hand, indicating why it would be so similar. “What about you?”

Ranking of "THE ALIENIST: ANGEL OF DARKNESS" Season Two (2020) Episodes

Below is my ranking of the Season One episodes of "THE ALIENIST: ANGEL OF DARKNESS", the 2020 adaptation of Caleb Carr's 1997 novel, “The Angel of Darkness”. Created by Jakob Verbruggen and Cary Fukunaga, the television series starred Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning:
1. (2.05) "Belly of the Beast" - The team races to find the killer responsible for murdering an employee at the Lying-In Hospital.
2. (2.04) “Gilded Cage” - The clock is ticking for the team to locate baby Ana Linares, the infant daughter of the Spanish consul-general. Meanwhile, Sara Howard, now a private detective, is worried about her young undercover detective Bitsy Sussman. William Randolph Hearst hosts a lavish ball celebrating his goddaughter Violet's engagement to John Moore, New York Times illustrator.

3. (2.07) “Last Exit to Brooklyn” - Sara, Moore and alienist Laszlo Kreizler travel to Brooklyn in search of clues hidden in the killer's dark past.
4. (2.01) “Ex Ore Infantium” - One year after Season One, Sara seeks out Dr. Kreizler's help in finding the kidnapped baby Ana. Dr. Kreizler reunites with Moore and the rest of the original team. And their search for the missing child brings them into contact with a mysterious woman with a murderous past, who is connected to a notorious gang.
5. (2.08) “Better Angels” - Sara, Moore, and Kreizler have their final confrontation with the killer/kidnapper, and struggle with decisions about their future paths.
6. (2.02) “Something Wicked” - Sara uncovers a clue at the Siegel-Cooper department store. Moore struggles to balance his personal and professional life, as he investigates a link to New York's criminal underworld. Kreizler suspects dark goings-on at the Lying-In Hospital, while former police chief Thomas Byrnes plots against their investigations.
7. (2.06) “Memento Mori” - Sara and John continue to search for information about Libby Hatch, a nurse at the Lying-In Hospital. Kreizler is nearly ruined by a tragic accident. Sara and the team have to work with Byrnes to find a new missing child from the Vanderbilt family.

8. (2.03) “Labrynith” - Sara persuades a young nurse to disclose what happens behind closed doors at the Lying-In Hospital. Meanwhile, Kreizler is convinced that hypnosis might unlock Señora Linares’ traumatic memories of her daughter’s kidnapping. Moore introduces Sara to a well-connected friend to further the investigation.

She Hulk Episode 1 | Hulk saves the men from She Hulk
Those women dressing her up was the only way for this to happen, if she was fucked up & bloody like before, the m8s would've helped her.
We can’t have helpful useful mens, XY Vessels are bad, must be rapists or assholes.
Unless they’re attractive to Jen, like Matt, then they’re good.
Or non-threatening like Pug
Or neutral like her pops
Wouldn't surprise me if the entire show was an elaborate wet dream and Jen wakes up from being asleep in her original office. Same loser she was 5min ago.
Bruce’ Father killed his mum in front of him, abused him for being born because Brian was convinced that Bruce was a demon monster child spawned from Gamma itself.
Nothing Bruce did was good enough, not even a baby. And his only protection was his mother, until her life ended in their home/on the driveway of their home. (Depending on universe)

Hulk, like Batman, is a coping mechanism of a scared vulnerable child that was desperate for a Guardian/Father to protect him so one was born inside his head and came to life through a freak event, that we now know (IMMORTAL HULK) opened a door into another Universe.
Green Door. Gammaverse.
And that man became one of the most powerful beings in comic fiction. Because his father was an abusive pos.
THAT’s the goddamn HULK.
Jen’s height of stress: Guys finding her attractive on the street, or being called “difficult”, or men explaining her expertise to her (Let a man have this energy, he’d be sexist that thinks Women can’t teach him anything)
Or swiping left or right on a dating app.
Poor Jen.
Now I’ve seen some She-Hulk stuff in the lore, she’s OK. I find her to be better when she’s with the F4, to bounce off of them.
She’s been on many teams, but she works really well with the Four.
Otherwise this is why i can’t stand knockoff’s, like Supertoken. Kara Bore-El
They almost always lack the authenticity of the original.
Very rarely do you get versions of the heroes that match the energy of the original in a different way, it works., and tell the same/similar story but different in some way
I criticize mainly the one’s that don’t work (Conceptual, Writing, Creative, Execution) reasons, but there are many that do work:.

I recommend those reads (Except My Hero, only cause Yagi isn’t the MC technically), the only one I didn’t get to yet is The Dark Knight Returns Sequel.
That shit has got New Krypton invasion arc x Invincible Viltrum invasion Arc vibes.
Kryptonite Rain, and Supes’ Daughter joining Terrorist Kryptonians jfc.. I can’t wait to read it.

.𖥔 ݁ ݁˖ 𝕷IKE THAT ᝰ! D.A.

˚⟡˖ ࣪ ⋆౨ৎ synopsis: you were dani’s favourite, you knew that. of all the girls and guys she had, she always came back to you. but lately, you’ve found yourself detaching from the fwb arrangement; staying out late more and dodging her calls, but she’s determined to have you back to her--'cause all those girls (they don’t) know what you need
warnings: angst, slight!nsfw, sexual content mentioned, toxic!dani, straight men (ew), eventual fluff, would turn into series
turntable now playing: like that - babymonster
“You’ve reached y/n’s cell! I can’t come to the phone right now, but please leave a message after the--” What the fuck. What the actual fuck. This was the fourth call you haven’t picked up tonight. Daniela wasn’t just growing impatient, she was livid.
You and Daniela met in college, your roommate, Lara always hung around this group of girls you would eventually befriend.
You met Sophia first, the ambitious go-getter with a type of energy you always struggled to keep up with. Then came Megan, who introduced you to the deep, relaxing world of Yacht rock. The two of you shared a deep love for tanning in the Hawaiian sun and loving alternative fashion.
Third was Yoonchae; she was quiet, a complimentary presence contrary to the chaotic energy the other three brought.
It was through Manon--whom was the smartest, and the most well-versed woman you knew--did you come to meet Daniela. You were trying to get French lessons from Manon, who was somewhat fluent in French (and 16 other languages), and you’d see her roommate loitering around the dorm.
And with knowing Daniela came succumbing to her charm.
Very charismatic, but had little heart for good intentions. You knew she had a deck of names just on her phone. You knew she could just phone up whomever she’d wanted, and they would come, but you didn’t care. It felt too good when you had her attention alone, when she wouldn’t care if her phone pinged when you were making out in her mustang at the top of the couple go-to of all LA’s trails.
“You’ve reached y/n’s cell! I can’t come to the phone right now, but--” Daniela chucked her phone into the passenger seat beside her, running a hand through her hair. Fifth time without an answer. You’ve never done this before.
She was making all kinds of reason as to why you’d go mia:
a) You could be mad at her. The last time the two of you were hanging out, alone, she did leave you in her room high and dry when she got a call from Caleb and his drinking buddies. She assured you she owed the guys a round of drinks for helping her cheat on her mid-term the week earlier, but you were not happy, and definitely worried about Manon coming home.
b) Maybe you’d found someone else. After weeks of playing this push and pull game with you, Daniela got really drunk one night and didn’t feel like arguing when you began scolding her for standing you up and didn’t even bother texting. She flat out told you, “move on then. nobody’s making you stay, so what’s stopping you?” It was harsh, but the two of you never spoke of that night. Maybe you finally listened to that advice.
c) You died. There were no other options. You had to be dead.
Daniela had never felt so out of control before. She prided herself in being able to string boys and girls along with just her pinkie finger. She never committed to anybody, she loved toying with her roster more than anything.
But every time she’d end things with her other flings, she’d come back to you without fail.
And she would praise you, whether she’d be making her mark on you or taking you out for some fancy meal she wouldn’t let you pay for, she’d make sure to make you feel special.
Until she found the next woman who wanted to make her the ultimate bi-curious experiment, or the group of frat guys who wanted to “just go out and party it up” with her alone.
You weren’t exactly bothered by it at first, you were thankful you got even that shred of her attention. But the more you fooled around, the more you worried for her when Manon would call you late to ask if you knew where she was; or when she’d abruptly leave a hang-out she asked for to go party. When you confided in Lara, the only person beyond the two of you who knew of the situation, she reminded you of the lineup you had waiting for you before Daniela came into your life.
You were young, beautiful, and full of life. Why get weighed down by somebody as careless and immature as Daniela?
So you started hanging out with your friends more again. Lara and Manon would drag you out to the most exclusive nightclubs and bars around LA, some other nights Sophia and Yoonchae would bring you out on movie nights and have takeout and play games all night. On weekends, Megan would take you out on long drives along the coast of Californian beaches, spending hours working on your tan and basking in the sun until both of you had bikini lines along your chest.
Daniela was no longer a priority in your life, like you in hers.
“You’ve reached y/n’s cell! I can’t come to the phone right now, but please leave a message after the beep--” Sixth attempt in, she can’t bring herself to end the call anymore.
Daniela was definitely going through the five stages of grief; denial, anger--now, bargaining.
She thought hard, really hard about all the people you’ve been spending more time with lately. She knew you and the girls were together a lot, but she also remembered this new guy who often popped up on your phone recently; Jay.
Jay frequented the gym you worked out at, he had the sexiest smirk you had ever seen on a man.
Daniela knew. She had briefly tried flirting with Jay once. She was at lunch with some of the friends she knew through Heeseung and Kai, and Jay pretty much sat and looked pretty. He kept to himself and Daniela loved a challenge, so she tried hitting on him. Alas, he turned down her advances, and now she knew why--‘cuz he was dead set on you.
She knew you better than that. She knew you had to be doing this to piss her off; and god damn it, it’s working.
“Hello?” It took her a minute to actually register you had picked up--the seventh call, the seventh time she’d clicked on your name, the seventh time she told herself she was acting far too desperate for her own liking.
“Where the fuck have you been?” was the first thing that came out of her mouth, “I’ve been calling your call all night, I thought I was gonna come by tonight.”
She could hear a busy party on your other end of the line.
“Sorry, Sophia and I met up with some friends. What’s up?”
“Friends? Like who? What club are you at right now, I’ll pull up,” Daniela started her car, hearing her engine roar.
“I--Okay, wait, I’m sorry, Dani, can we talk later?” you apologized quickly. Daniela could hear the sound of a man’s voice faintly, and before she could protest, you ended the call.
“Come on, screenager, I thought we were unplugging tonight.” You follow your gaze, met with a tall, muscular build before you with two drinks in his hands. He’s staring at you, and when his eyes lock with yours, you feel a flash of something—interest.
You’re not sure why, but you felt hesitant. The thought of talking to someone new—someone not Daniela—felt foreign. But you shoved it aside, forcing yourself to smile as you shoved your phone back into your pocket, taking the drink.
“Sorry, just a concerned roommate,” you lied, trying to keep your voice steady. Why the hell does it feel this complicated?
“Lara, right?” he asks, “I share a lecture with her. She’s cool.”
You nod, conversing mindlessly. You exchange small talk for a few minutes, but your mind keeps drifting. There’s this nagging thought at the back of your mind—Daniela.
It doesn’t help that you saw she had tried to reach you six times before you picked up. She’d been calling, texting, and you—well, you just couldn’t deal with it. You were thankful for the loud music and strong stench of sweat and hormones, you could barely hear your own thoughts. Part of you was hoping she’d just get the hint and leave you alone for a while. You were trying to find your balance, trying to feel like you again, without the weight of whatever was happening between you two.
But now, as you laugh and talk with Jay, you can’t ignore the fact that you keep glancing away, his words tuning out.
It was then did you see a familiar head through the crowd of dancing people and drunk college students.
She’s here.
Daniela is standing by the entrance, her eyes scanning the crowd. You can’t see much more than the back of her head, but the way she holds herself, her golden curls, you know it’s her. Your stomach tightens.
"Everything okay?" Jay asked, noticing your distracted gaze.
“Yeah,” you reply, your voice flat, not realizing how much you’ve been affected by Daniela’s presence. You try to brush it off and focus back on Jay, but the sight of Daniela in the crowd feels like it’s pulling you in, tugging at you. Minutes later, you see her moving through the crowd, eyes trained on you like she’s found her target. There’s a flicker of annoyance in your chest. What does she want now? Why is she here?
But before you can process any of it, you feel her presence beside you—close enough that her perfume hits your nose. It’s familiar, warm, and immediately intoxicating.
You turn your head to meet her gaze, and for a moment, time slows. Daniela looks different tonight—darker, more intense.
“y/n,” she said, her voice low. “We need to talk.”
“Do you know her?” Jay asked, but you couldn’t look away.
You felt a shiver run down your spine. The club’s music thundered around you, but her words cut through it all. Jay noticed the shift, raising an eyebrow, but Daniela doesn’t even glance in his direction. It’s all about you now.
“I’m kinda busy,” you said, trying to sound unaffected, but your voice shook. You hated how weak you sound. Why the hell does she do this to you?
Daniela smirked, taking a step closer to you, her presence so overwhelming that you can’t breathe. Her eyes search your face, as if trying to read you. “No, you’re not. Come on.“
“Yo, she’s not comfortable, back up.” Jay held a hand up in front of Daniela, keeping her from stepping any closer. “Get lost, you can catch her later when you lose the attitude.”
“This doesn’t concern you, bird face.” Daniela held a hand up, “I want you
You want to pull away, to tell her to leave you alone. But there’s this pull between you two, this magnetic force you’ve never been able to escape, and for some stupid reason, you find yourself following her toward the edge of the dance floor, away from Jay and Sophia, away from the crowd.
“Dani, I—” you start, but she cuts you off, her hand suddenly grabbing yours, pulling you toward a quieter corner.
“You’ve been avoiding me,” she says, her voice sharp, but there’s an edge of vulnerability beneath it. It catches you off guard, making your breath catch in your throat.
“No, I’ve just been around,” you say weakly, though you can tell it’s a poor excuse, “My phone was on silent.”
She doesn’t buy it. You can see the way her eyes darken. She takes another step closer, and this time, you can feel her body heat, the tension crackling in the air between you.
“I care about you,” Daniela says, the words coming out in a low, strained whisper. It’s so different from the way she normally talks to you—abrasive, defiant—but tonight, she’s softer, almost desperate. “I don’t care about the rules, the games. I just want you to come home with me.”
The words hit you like a ton of bricks. You blinked, trying to process them, but they’re already sinking in, wrapping around you, binding you to her. You’ve never heard Daniela speak like that before—not with this rawness, this vulnerable edge.
But you knew better than to give in that easily.
“I can’t just leave Sophia,” you scoffed, “And Jay, he’s been super nice to me--!”
Amidst the dance floor, away from any curious eyes, she grabbed your hips and begun grinding against you. Her front pressed flush against your back, her toned stomach grazing the small of your back. You felt your words catch in your throat, your brain frying the moment you felt her hands on you. It felt too familiar, too comforting for your liking.
“If I come close, baby, would you like that?” she whispered against your ear, you felt her lips smirk. Her fingers traced lines against your hot skin. “‘Cause all those boys, they don’t know what you need, but I… I know how to make sure you never leave.” Her voice had your knees bucking in the middle of the club. Jay and Sophia long forgotten as you focused on your hips moving in the same rhythm as this world class dancer’s.
You shook your head, unsure of what to say, but it’s too late.
Your heart stuttered in your chest. The reality of it hit you all at once—the unspoken truth of what you’ve been trying to deny for so long. You cared about her. You cared more than you were willing to admit, more than you’ve allowed yourself to feel. The thought of Jay, of anyone else, made your stomach churn.
And as you stand there, with Daniela’s hand gently gripping yours, her gaze locking onto yours with a desperate intensity, you realized you’d put up with her childish, immature tantrums if it meant you had her under your thumb like this.
You nodded, just a tiny movement, and Daniela’s expression softened immediately.
“Come home with me,” she whispered, the words almost reverent, like a plea. Can you imagine that? Having Daniela Avanzini beg for you.
You don’t say anything at first. You just let her take your hand, and for the first time, you allow yourself to follow her—heart pounding, but this time, not out of fear, but something else entirely. You liked it just like that.

Campus Fair (Rafayel/OC)
Summary
A not-date at the campus fair turns into a night of failed games, unexpected tension, and a fortune teller’s prediction that Lara can’t quite shake.

Notes
Pairing: Rafayel x f!OC, Zayne x name!MC, Caleb x f!OC College AU, fluff, friend?, games, short, banter, silly, chaos
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara swears she’s only at the fair for fun. She’s here to enjoy the lights, the food, and the general atmosphere—definitely not because Rafayel invited her. Definitely not because he sent her a casual, completely unromantic text saying, Come keep me company.
Yet somehow, here she is, walking beside him while he hums cheerfully under his breath, hands tucked into the pockets of his jacket. He’s been far too pleased with himself since she showed up.
"Wow," he says, glancing around at the strings of glowing lanterns hanging overhead. "Look at us. Alone under the festival lights. Romantic, huh?"
Lara snorts. "Yeah, and if I look to my left, I’ll see a couple making out over deep-fried Oreos. Super romantic."
Rafayel follows her gaze. "Huh. Think they'd let us borrow some of their ambiance?"
She elbows him, and he just laughs, unbothered.
As they walk through the fairgrounds, Rafayel insists on buying her food. He doesn’t give her much of a choice, casually handing her a skewer of grilled meat and a bottle of soda before she can argue.
She eyes them, then him. “...Did I ask for this?”
“Nope.” He takes a bite of his own food, completely unbothered. “You looked like you’d forget to eat while getting worked up over something. Consider it a service.”
Lara huffs but takes the food anyway. Annoyingly, it’s delicious. She side-eyes him as she chews. “You do this for everyone?”
"Only the ones I like." He says it offhandedly, like it’s not a big deal, but there’s an easy warmth in his voice.
She suddenly finds her food very interesting.
They pass by a row of games stalls, and Rafayel’s gaze lands on one of those classic “knock over the bottles” stands. His eyes glint with determination.
"Watch and learn," he says, rolling up his sleeves. "I’m about to win you the biggest prize here."
Lara folds her arms. "Uh-huh. Sure you are."
She watches as he throws the first ball. It bounces off the stack with an embarrassingly weak impact. Rafayel blinks.
"Huh." He shakes out his wrist and lines up another shot.
Miss.
Another.
Miss.
Lara bites her lip, fighting back a laugh. He keeps his expression carefully neutral, but she can see the frustration creeping in.
"Alright, listen," he says, turning to her. "The physics of this game are obviously rigged."
"Obviously," she echoes, barely containing her amusement.
“I bet you couldn’t do any better,” he challenges.
"You're absolutely right." She hands a ticket to the booth worker anyway and picks up a ball. When she throws it, it veers so wildly off course that even Rafayel has to bite back a laugh.
They both go through their remaining tickets in a spectacular display of failure. The booth worker is watching them with mild pity.
Eventually, Lara sighs, resting her hands on her hips. "I think we have to accept that neither of us is walking away with a prize."
Rafayel eyes the lineup of stuffed animals behind the counter. Then, he turns to her with a solemn expression. "This is tragic. We’re never telling anyone about this."
"Oh, absolutely not."
They step away from the booth, the sounds of the fair buzzing around them—laughter, the distant chime of a carousel, the sizzle of something frying in oil. Rafayel stretches, rolling his shoulders like he’s shaking off defeat.
"Alright," he announces, "we need redemption."
"You mean you need redemption."
"Semantics." He glances around, searching for their next challenge, when a sudden cheer erupts from nearby.
They both turn toward the noise, curiosity piqued. A small crowd has gathered around something up ahead, excitement buzzing through the air.
A law professor sits smugly on the dunk seat, watching his students fail miserably. Lara cracks her knuckles. "Oh, this is happening."
She lines up her shot, squinting in concentration. Her first throw is just barely off. So is her second. But on the third—
Clang.
The ball hits the target dead center. The professor plummets into the water. The crowd erupts into cheers.
Rafayel looks at her with new respect. "So, what I’m hearing is, you could have won that game stalls for us."
"Apparently only if the prize was my professor’s humiliation."
Rafayel laughs, leaning back with a playful glint in his eyes. "Guess I’ll keep that in mind for next time."
They drift from booth to booth, playing more games (both failing, repeatedly), until the scent of powdered sugar and fried dough catches their attention.
“Funnel cake,” Rafayel says with a dramatic sigh. “We’ve found civilization.”
Lara rolls her eyes but lets him lead her toward the booth. As they step closer, she recognizes a familiar group standing off to the side—Zayne, Everlyn, Rose, and Caleb, all huddled together over a plate of funnel cake dusted with powdered sugar.
Rose spots them first, waving them over. “Took you two long enough.”
“Took us?” Lara arches a brow. “You didn’t even tell me you were here.”
“Because we assumed you were too busy pretending you weren’t on a date,” Everlyn teases, grinning.
Lara sputters, but Rafayel just hums, unbothered. “Well, well. A reunion of the finest scholars on campus,” he drawls. “And Caleb.”
Caleb snorts. “Jealous I have the biggest stuffed animal here?” He gestures to the massive plush bear under his arm.
Rafayel eyes it. “...You didn’t win that yourself, did you?”
Caleb grins. “What do you think?”
“I think you’re lying.”
Zayne, who has remained quiet until now, takes a calm bite of funnel cake and glances between them. “If the two of you are done comparing egos, there’s still food left.”
Everlyn hands Lara a piece before she can protest, and, despite herself, she takes a bite. It’s warm and sweet, and she sighs through her nose. “Fine. I’ll admit this makes up for—” She stops short, realizing a second too late where her sentence was going.
Everlyn tilts her head. “For what?”
Rafayel, ever unhelpful, hums. “Yeah, Lara. For what?”
Lara shoots him a look, but it’s too late to backpedal. “…Our, uh, less-than-perfect win rate.”
Everlyn raises a brow. “How many games?”
Rafayel exhales dramatically. “Every. Single. One.”
Lara groans, shoving another bite of funnel cake into her mouth before she scowls. “I dunked a professor, though.”
That earns a laugh from the group. Rose shakes her head, amused. “Honestly? That might be better than a stuffed animal.”
They linger there, sharing food and easy conversation, before Rafayel tugs at Lara’s sleeve. “Come on. There’s one last thing we need to do.”
She gives him a suspicious look but follows him anyway.
Behind them, Rose and Caleb head off toward a photo booth, while Zayne and Everlyn fall into step together, the air between them effortlessly comfortable.
Lara and Rafayel wind up in front of a fortune teller’s tent. Before Lara can protest, Rafayel places a hand on her back and guides her inside.
Behind the table sits a student in an oversized scarf and too many bracelets, shuffling a deck of tarot cards with a dramatic air. They look between the two of them, smirking.
"Oh, I love this energy," the student says, tapping their fingers against the table. "So much tension. So much denial."
Lara frowns. "That’s not—"
The student hushes her with a raised hand and pulls a card from the deck. They glance at it, then at the two of them, then back down again.
"You two are always going to meet where the lights are brightest." A slow smile spreads across their face. "You just haven’t figured out why yet."
Lara crosses her arms. "That’s—"
"—nonsense?" Rafayel finishes for her, grinning. "Or fate?"
Lara shoves his shoulder. "It’s nonsense."
…Right?
The thought catches her off guard, settling in her mind like a whisper she can’t quite shake. It’s silly. A stupid campus fair trick. But as they step outside, the words linger, curling around something in her chest that she refuses to acknowledge.
The festival lights seem brighter, casting long shadows across Rafayel’s face. She tells herself it’s just the theatrics of it all—the cards, the atmosphere, the way he’s still looking at her like he knows something she doesn’t. It doesn’t mean anything.
But the words sit strangely in her mind as they leave the tent.
The night winds down with fireworks. The sky bursts with color, reds and blues reflecting off Rafayel’s face as he watches, hands shoved in his pockets. The crowd is buzzing with excitement, but for some reason, Lara feels quiet.
She sneaks a glance at him. He’s not teasing her now, not saying anything smug. He’s just standing beside her, the light catching in his mixed color eyes.
It’s different—this silence. Comfortable in a way she didn’t expect.
Her fingers twitch at her sides, like she should be doing something. Saying something. But all she does is watch as another firework blooms in the sky, its glow stretching across his face.
She sneaks a glance at him. He’s not teasing her now, not saying anything smug. He’s just standing beside her, the light catching in his mixed color eyes.
Lara exhales, trying to ignore the warmth creeping up her neck. It’s just the fireworks, she tells herself. Just the moment. Nothing more. But the longer she stands there, the more she notices things she shouldn’t—like the way Rafayel’s gaze lingers on the sky, quiet and thoughtful, or the way his shoulder brushes hers in the crowd.
She swallows. The thought is unsettling. Because if she lets herself dwell on it too long, she knows she won’t be able to ignore what it really means.

“This is a story I don’t tell. This is the story of…her,” was the intriguing promise made by Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in the premiere of this NCIS prequel about the life of young Gibbs’ (Austin Stowell) in the ’90s as a rookie agent working for what was then NIS. The NCIS: Origins Season 1 finale will revolve around the “her” we’ve come to know and love, his colleague, the determined Agent Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molino) who, to be respected in the boys’ club, “has to be more than capable, to be assumed to be capable,” Molino says.
The trouble starts with the arrival of Lala’s friend, ambitious military police investigator Lara Macy (Claire Berger), an NCIS mothership character (played by Louise Lombard in that series). “They’ve crossed paths at crime scenes, watch each other’s backs, and try to be scrappy and figure out how to get to where they want to go as women,” Molino says. “They are very able but have come across situations where they’re treated differently because they’re women.”
The wrinkle is Macy’s there to investigate suspicions about Pedro Hernandez, the drug dealer Gibbs secretly assassinated for murdering his family. Lala figured that out earlier this season while trying to track down the killer herself. Infuriated, she secretly confronted Gibbs, but later he revealed his vulnerable side to her. “In that moment she realized how much she loves him,” Molino says. “Loves, loves, loves, loves.”
As Gibbs, Lala, and Franks (Kyle Schmid) try to get their stories straight and protect themselves, “There’s a lot of disagreement. They could lose their jobs, go to jail. You see everybody’s worst side. Lala is between this friendship and loyalty to the guys,” Mariel Molino reveals. The actress previews more about the episode including romance with Gibbs, the toughest scene she’s ever shot, bickering with Austin Stowell, and the cliffhanger ending.
Do we see a new side of Lala in the finale?
Mariel Molino: You get to see things from my perspective. The episode is called “Cecilia” [Lala’s given name.] It’s also the Simon and Garfunkel song, which we’ll hear. In a way, Cecilia will be breaking your heart. This is the first episode that has Lala standing up for herself. There’s a big moment between Franks and Lala, where Lala finally sees the value in herself. She goes into crazy overdrive trying to figure out how to make sure that Gibbs is not arrested. She’s also incredibly protective of Randy [Caleb Foote]. Gibbs and Franks sometimes make decisions and don’t think of how it will affect everybody. Every relationship is tested. You see the strain.
You said that Lala “loves, loves, loves” Gibbs. Does this episode bring them closer?
In the finale, Gibbs catches Lala in a very vulnerable moment, something that she does to disconnect from the world. Everything that Lala has done thus far to put her walls up to remain professional shatters. We see her surrender to feelings she’s had since he came onto the team. For a split second, there’s a beautiful fairytale of what these two could be.
Why is Lala drawn to Gibbs?
She’s never felt like someone is looking out for her like he does. She sees a lot in him that she wishes she were. He’s honest to a fault and treats every case with so much compassion. There’s part of Lala that’s like, no, we work on the same team, and you deserve something better. She’s afraid: What if I hurt him?
Can Lala confide in anyone about this?
Mary Jo [Tyla Abercrumbie] can see everything. She pulls Lala aside and is like, “I know you’re feeling things for Gibbs. Stop trying to deny it.” Lala’s just like, “No, I’m not.” [I had to cry and] I always have difficulty crying as an actor. It’s not my forte. It’s probably because in real life I don’t like crying. I remember telling Tyla, “I’m so nervous.” She’s like, “Honey, you’re going to be acting against me. I’ll take care of you.” It didn’t matter what I was worried about, I was enveloped in her.
Let’s talk about that moment Lala knew she loved Gibbs.
When he starts to tell her everything that happened with [his landlady] Ruth [London Garcia] and how he got into NIS, it’s the first time he really opens up. He puts down his walls. In preparing for this finale, I was tracking everything Lala has gone through in the last 17 episodes and there’s stuff that isn’t written. We didn’t have the scene where he tells Lala, sentence by sentence, what happened. I had to invent that. I was in an airplane, and I just start writing as if I were Gibbs telling her, “I met this woman, and she was kind of a bitch. Then we started doing puzzles and talking about life.” I’m imagining everything that he told me and how much that would’ve taken for him. All of a sudden, I’m in the plane and I’m crying, just bawling, thinking, “Oh my God, I’m in love with him. I love him. I don’t want to be off his team. I want to make sure that I have his back.”
But Lala is still torn between loyalty to Gibbs/the team and her friend’s investigation.
There’s a ton of conflict. It’s the question of, “What is just, and do you protect your own?” Lara Macy poses a really good question to Lala: “Is it our job to protect these men from themselves and their bad decisions?” Lala does that all the time. It brings up a big question for Lala: Would they do it for her? It’s a moment of reckoning. She’s been the guys’ girl this whole time and she’s the tough one. But [through Lara] she’s presented with, “You said you stand for justice, and you stand for this oath that you took as a Marine.” Who is Cecilia? Can she serve both? And is that betraying herself?
Does the finale provide a definitive answer as to why this is “the story of her”?
The viewer will find out something so integral to who Gibbs becomes — that future Gibbs, who we saw and loved on NCIS — that even he does not know. Lala does something in the finale that he doesn’t know she did. It is the reason that Gibbs becomes who he becomes years later. It’s a question that is brought up in later seasons of NCIS that Gibbs himself doesn’t know the answer to.
Do we end on a big cliffhanger?
Huge! There’s a big question about Lala that will change everything and everyone and the team. There’s a scene at the end of the episode which was one of the most challenging things that I’ve done as an actor physically. It’s nighttime. Stunts were involved. So many different departments had to be so cohesive to pull it off. I wanted to make sure that I executed properly — because of the story and to get the shot the director wanted. That was one of the most surreal and scary experiences that I’ve had as an actor, which will make for a very exciting finale.
What’s your relationship with Austin like after shooting a season together?
We’re like an old married couple. We are bickering all the time. About anything. We’ve grown to know each other very well. There’s been ups, downs. We’ve tested each other. We’ve been there for each other. He’s created a place where everyone is so happy to come into work and spend 14+ hours. We’re incredibly comfortable with each other — enough to bring up things that might be uncomfortable at times or that maybe I’m struggling with.
The series has been renewed for a second season. Any hiatus plans?
I’m reading Wuthering Heights right now. I never read it in school. It’s just so beautifully written. It’s inspired me to book a trip to the English countryside. That’s going to be my decompress with my mom and my sister. We’re going to the Cotswolds, staying in country inns, and driving around. I’m going to have to drive on the other side of the road!
Which other NCIS franchise would you want to be on?
Let’s do a Lala spin-off! Just Lala in the ’80s.

Finished Lady of The Lake (Witcher)
SPOILERS -- Im frustrated and confused with the ending, this isnt particularly complimentary.
And um, what the hell? Is this like a narnia afterlife situation? How did the horse end up in camelot, WHY camelot, why is Ciris future suddenly with this random knight? Why camelot? Am i supposed to be happy? I guess its independence but its not, its just a different world with different rules and politics and complications. I get that we're not doing happily ever after but like.
Kind of feels like the whole party died so the author didn't have to write endings for them. What did the unicorn even achieve, Ciri doesnt need him to travel.
Also a thing thats bothered me the whole time, why is everyone stuck on ciris theoretical future children, why is SHE not destined one? Why is everyone trying to get her pregnant at 16?? Ive never seen a story where the male protagonist has to have kids to secure a prophecy and everyones throwing wives at him. And i dont like the implication after all that that ciris gonna end up with galahad. She should be a lesbian. She cannot be the only descendant of the elder blood, and what were the elves even isolating those genes for?? What was the point of lara? There was no saving the world from politicking or future climate catastrophe.
Its already not a happy ending bc everyone is dead. It just feels like sapkowski didnt really know how to finish things? Lets just throw in some big fights ok now what let everyone noodle around uh guess Ill kill them off now ok. Ciri doesnt even get to grow up. Cahiras scary and significant and then he's just The Fighty Guy of the party, no more complexity there.
And what the fuck is with emhyr and his incest plan? Why does everyone want to fuck ciri including her father?? "The child o sore will be important" YOUR DAUGHTER IS YOUR CHILD BUCKO and then he just lets her go and didnt leave anyone with a knife for Yen and Geralt because why??
Honestly the sexual violence, the fact that every woman is always "provocative" and we always gotta mention their cleavage and fuckability, its so incredibly gross. Especially with everyone wanting to fuck or impregnate ciri. Who is confirmed to be a minor in-world.
Obviously I found the story compelling enough to keep reading multiple books but all these cool concepts just were not executed through. Just an entire book of everyone trying to fuck a child instead of literally anything else. The villain deaths werent satisfying. The protagonist deaths were cheap. I dont remember who the fuck caleb whoever was or half the people referred to in the last quarter of the book even though ive been reading these books fairly close together.
I kind of hope the show does things better but who knows with cavill leaving.

5 Chanel Is Wrapped In Ribbons For Fall 2025 On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel presented a distinctly feminine collection for Fall 2025. Inspired by the brand’s signature bows—an accessory beloved by Coco Chanel and turned into a house code by Karl Lagerfeld in the ‘90s—the label’s studio team crafted a ribbon-filled collection, presented on a black ribbon-shaped runway in the Grand Palais. Its newest collection featured a mix of red, green, blue, black, and white tweed skirt suits, blazers, formal gowns, and minidresses, most layered with floating sheer skirts in homage to ribbons’ lightweight nature. However, one of the biggest runway moments was the brand’s newest show crasher: a stray pigeon that strutted down the runway before taking flight! An impressive front row was also in attendance, including Tyla, Camila Cabello, Dakota Fanning, Raye, Whitney Peak, and more. All images: Courtesy of Chanel Gigi Hadid Embraces Jazz Age Glamour For Vogue‘s April 2025 Issue Vogue’s latest cover star is Gigi Hadid! The supermodel is front and center for Annie Leibovitz’s lens, fronting the publication’s April 2025 issue. Posing in a gauzy Valentino dress styled by Alex Harrington, Hadid’s Jazz Age-themed editorial finds her outfitted in similarly nostalgic numbers by Chanel, Fendi, Dior Haute Couture, Prada, Miu Miu, Schiaparelli Haute Couture, and vintage pieces from Timeless Vixen. Her interview with Chloe Schama finds Hadid opening up on her multi-faceted nature as a model, mother, and founder of her Guest in Residence knitwear brand—as well as her recent romance with Bradley Cooper. “I think just getting to the point where knowing what you want and deserve in a relationship is essential,” Hadid says, “and then to find someone that is in a place in their life where they know what they want and deserve…and you both do work separately to come together and be the best partner that you can be. I just feel really lucky. Yeah, lucky’s the word. I respect him so much as a creative, and I feel that he gives so much to me: encouragement and, just, belief. For those people you admire to encourage you, it can create so much belief in yourself. Like, what’s the worst thing if I auditioned for this? You jump and take the leap.” Awww… Gigi Hadid (Annie Leibovitz) The Cinema Society & Neon Toast The Actor’s Premiere With Gemma Chan & André Holland Cheers!
