But honestly i do judge people who use chatgpt for their college work. Literally if you chose to study something, why would you use ai for your work. If you chose something you want to study, doesn't it feel like a waste to not do your own research and work for essays and the like.
#like our lit prof told us today that if she catches a whiff of chatgpt in the essays she'll make the student do an oral exam#and i was flabbergasted bc like#why would i be an english major if i didn't find joy in literary analysis#like i say i hate linguistics but i find joy even in those cursed de saussure and chomsky#it's not my favourite part but i'm here bc i love both the study of language and literature#so like. why would i let an ai steal my fun when i am given permission to do silly lil analysis for a grade ?!?!?!?!?#it's such a neat topic too we have to argue for or against the idea that a novel we did could be taken#as an example of a visual arts movement and it sounds so fun like i can't wait to start doing research for it

At the University of Minnesota you can major in Dakota.
#Dakota language#indigenous languages#Minnesota Hail to Thee#this is awesome BUT they need to build the program and bring it out to the tribal colleges and out state campuses#also: UND needs this...more Dakota live within a few hours drive of grand forks than MPLS that's for sure#Colonizers will steal your land and then sell your language back to you as a liberal arts degree that costs $66k for instate students#it's a $130k if you're out of state...#anyway this is good news actually I'm just cynical and I hope the U actually does something more than just make headlines with this

☾𖤓 — 21 October 2024
˚˖𓍢ִ໋🦢˚ — Today’s accomplishments:
planned my film class midterm paper and wrote two paragraphs
Studied two units of economics
studied for my music history test
completed the prep work for tomorrow’s psychology lab
attended my art history lecture and film lecture
practiced polish
Today was my first day back at university after my fall break and it was a very productive day for me, thankfully. My motto of something is better than nothing has been helping increase my productivity, encouraging me to do work a little bit at a time! I started the day by reorganizing my desk space with my new candles, worked on my studies, then after my lectures, studied in the almost-empty bio building (they have trees inside!). Then I had a really nice walk home, my campus is beautiful in the fall. I’m going to try to be locked in for the rest of this week as well since I have a midterm exam, a test, and a paper due, and today was a good start so I’m feeling more motivated. I also ate 3 meals today which is always good, and I even got out of bed at a reasonable time (shocking, I am a chronic late sleeper). Tomorrow my goal is to be as productive as today.

not gonna lie. looking at university applications kind of make me want to tear my hair out and jump into a well
#staying in finland would be financially smart but the art field here.....#there is only one costume design university program that takes in 4 students per year. or was it 4 students every 2 years.#and I hate the city that university is in#closest option is sweden then. and then I run into the fact that I have to speak swedish and that's only my 3rd best language. not impossib#e but impractical#Hi I just realized this is very much humble bragging#or it feels like it#ohh ohhh I only speak 4 languages well that's so pathetig boo hoo sad sad#delete later tag rant yeayyyyyy

Welcome to my Studyblr!
My name is Kathryn (she/her), and I created this blog to help me organize my many, many hobbies, and see my own progress!
A little bit about me:
I am 19 years old, and I live in the USA.
I am studying Secondary English Education (7-12), and also getting a Luther's Teaching Diploma, allowing me to teach in Christian schools.
I am an avid learner!
Some hobbies of mine:
Writing! I've been working on my novel, Ghostly, for roughly 6 years now. I'm on my 7th draft, and have written over half a million words just in relation to this novel!
Language Learning! English is my first language, but I studied basic Spanish in high school. I am also now self-studying French! Bienvenue sur mon blog!
Fitness! I'm a fairly sedentary girl, yet I'll be taking on the None to Run 12 week program with one of my close friends! I'm so excited to learn to run, as it was something I really enjoyed in elementary and middle school. I also have an E-Bike that I love riding when the weather is nice!
Drawing! I love to create drawings, especially based on my novel characters. Who knows! Maybe I'll post some.
Studying! As a university student, I love to coop up in the library and just absorb into all of my class materials!
Theatre! See why I needed the blog? I have a lot of hobbies! I've been in roughly 20 shows since middle school, and this next season, I have four shows! I'm so excited to take you from audition to show!
I hope you stick around and we get to be good friends. Enjoy my many adventures, and I hope you create some for yourself! Follow for inspiration, a buddy system, or just a friend on here!
Toodles!

just a little stem vs humanities student story, since that seems so be a controversial topic in the academic world:
as a language and business double major, i absolutely think stem majors are another breed. hear me out. my best friend of 10 years is a biochem major, and she has always taken the hardest calc/physics/chem classes. she would get As on bio tests like it was first grade math. her knowledge eludes me. i have to try exponentially harder than her in every class we had together, and we barely even had the same classes! she took regular calc freshman year, got an A pretty easily. i took business calc, got an A because i was so close to an A and my professor saw how much effort i had put in and felt bad. i have always thought stem was much harder than anything i was pursuing.
until i heard her pov.
she is also pursuing a spanish minor, and has been taking spanish classes since 8th grade (we took our first spanish class together). i took spanish in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade, then stopped taking it through classes and started self studying japanese my junior year of highschool. she continued to pursue spanish and has taken in every year and every semester since 8th grade. shes studying abroad next semester, and we thought it would be a good idea for me to pick up spanish so she would have an opportunity to teach me and talk in spanish together. however, i picked it up pretty fast after not taking it for four years.
i noticed she felt ~some type of way~ about it, which prompted a conversation between the two of us.
to spare the mundane details, she thought it was insane that i caught up to where she was within weeks, after not having taken a class higher than high school spanish 2. i told her i thought it was insane that she got an A in every calc, physics, bio, and chem class, which i was never able to get a single A in (until business calc in college). she has a 4.0, taking what i thought were WAY harder classes than what i was taking. hell, i couldn’t even get an A in astronomy. astronomy.
she then talked about how i had rarely EVER gotten less than a 93 on essays, even if i had written them the night before, while she has to spend weeks on essays to get a good grade on them.
the moral of this story, is that everyone has their own talents. science comes natural to her. languages and humanities come natural to me. i find her talents way harder. she finds my talents way harder because humanities tend to be subjective, and business requires a certain personality and being good with people, which she doesn’t see those qualities in herself.
personally, i think anyone who pushes the “stem is objectively harder” agenda is probably just insecure in their own abilities to do arts/humanities/business. a real mature student can see that everyone has their own talents and a field that is suited to them! there is no need to invalidate peoples academic pursuits. college should be about finding what YOU love and want to pursue, not invalidating everyone and making them feel dumber because they chose a different path from you.
do what you love, and study hard if you love it! just because someone studies humanities subjects doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of succeeding in stem. and just because you study stem doesn’t make you smarter than someone who doesn’t choose to pursue that.
HOWEVER. from my pov, stem is like actually shit from Mars that i will never be able to wrap my head around, so to be humble ill admit i could NEVER study stem subjects beyond general education requirements. kudos to you guys! but that doesnt apply to every a&h kid out there!
