No ano passado, Portugal foi devastado por vários incêndios em quase todos os pontos do país. Grande parte por mão criminosa e também pelo facto de a maioria dos terrenos não estarem limpos o que permitiu que o fogo ficasse incontrolável.

Tempo de tristeza e angustias, onde várias aldeias habitadas ficaram destruídas e onde várias pessoas morreram. Sempre houve incêndios, mas em 2017 foi o pior de sempre.

De forma a que não se repita, o nosso Governo decretou leis para as limpezas dos terrenos. Assim, cada proprietário de um pedaço de terra tem de manter o seu espaço limpo e assim prevenir que o fogo se alastre, caso exista algum incêndio.

O meu pai é proprietário de alguns pedaços de terra. Herdados! mas são dele e um dia serão meus e do meu irmão. Temos de os limpar.

As queimadas servem para isso. Controladas, e devidamente avisadas às autoridades competentes. Foram 2 dias de trabalho interrompidos algumas vezes pela chuva.

Last year, Portugal was devastated by several fires in almost all parts of the country. Largely by criminal hand and also because most of the land are not clean which allowed the fire to stay unmanageable. A time of sadness and anguish, where several inhabited villages were destroyed and where several people died. There were always fires, but in 2017 it was the worst ever. So as not to repeat itself, our Government has enacted laws to clean up the land. So each owner of a piece of land has to keep his space clean and thus prevent the fire from spreading, if there is any. My father owns a few pieces of land. Inherited! but they are his and one day will be mine and my brother’s. We have to clean them. Burns are good for that. Duly notified to the appropriate authorities. There were 2 days of work interrupted a few times by rain.

Esta é mais uma daquelas pequenas viagens que faço em trabalho e sabendo onde vou, levo sempre a minha máquina comigo.

Desta vez foi em Nazaré. Mais conhecida pela sua praia, ondas gigantes e as mulheres com as suas 7 saias.

Deixo aqui um pouco da sua história.

A Nazaré é uma vila portuguesa situada na região centro do nosso país. O actual espaço urbano da vila agrupa 3 antigos povoados, a Pederneira, Sitio da Nazaré e a Praia da Nazaré. A Nazaré evoluiu progressivamente de uma vila piscatória para uma vila dedicada ao turismo, tendo sido um dos primeiros pontos de interesse turístico internacional em Portugal. A indústria do turismo é hoje um dos principais empregadoras da vila. Faz parte da tradição nazarena o uso de sete saias pelas suas mulheres. As nazarenas tinham o hábito de esperar os maridos e filhos, da volta da pesca, na praia, sentadas no areal, passando aí horas em vigília. Usavam as várias saias para se cobrirem, as de cima para proteger a cabeça e ombros da maresia e as restantes para tapar as pernas. As sete saias das mulheres e a camisa de flanela e barrete preto dos homens atraíram, durante os anos 50 e 60, do século passado, nomes como Lino António, Jorge Barradas, Stanley Kubrick ou Cartier-Bresson, que documentaram, em pintura e fotografia, o dia-a-dia do povo nazareno.

A nazaré também em palco de várias competições de Surf e onde são surfadas as maior ondas do mundo por vários surfistas do mundo inteiro.

Foi construído com o objetivo de ser uma sentinela vigilante. Sobreviveu às invasões francesas, onde se refugiaram os soldados inimigos mais tarde expulsos pela população de Pederneira. Fez parte da historia das lutas liberais,  entre liberais e absolutistas, onde foi vandalizado pelos liberais. Já no século XX e sem qualquer função militar, os pescadores pediram ao governo a instalação de um farolim e uma casa para o faroleiro para o apoio da atividade piscatória.

This is another one of those little trips that I do at work and knowing where I’m going, I always take my camera with me. This time it was in Nazaré. Best known for its beach, giant waves and women with their 7 skirts. I leave here a little of your history.

Nazaré is a Portuguese village located in the central region of our country. The present urban space of the village groups 3 old settlements, Pederneira, Sítio of Nazaré and Praia da Nazaré. Nazaré progressively evolved from a fishing village to a village dedicated to tourism, having been one of the first points of international tourist interest in Portugal. The tourism industry is today one of the main employers of the village. It is part of the Nazarene tradition the use of seven skirts by their women. The Nazarenes were in the habit of waiting for their husbands and children, from the return of fishing, on the beach, sitting on the sand, spending hours in there.
