We are reposting work from @wgssa.utsc and @tupacistan, created for IDEVAW (Nov 25) '23 and Land Day (March 30) 2024, drawing connections between sexual & colonial violence, focused on the ways that Indigenous Consent is ignored, coerced, negotiated, violated, and enforced. The teachings in this post are primarily from the @yellowheadinstitute 'Spectrum of Consent' as explored in the Land Back Red Paper and from the @palestinianfeministcollective and their work against Colonial Feminism, Reproductive Genocide, and more.

OVER 60,000 TAKE TO THE STREETS IN DENMARK ON #LANDDAY ✊🇵🇸❤️‍🔥

On March 30th, Copenhagen was filled with flags, kuffiyehs, signs, and chants to mark the 48th anniversary of Land Day. Protesters gathered from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark to stand in solidarity with Palestine and solemn remembrance amid the ongoing, brutal campaign of annihilation carried out by ‘israeli’ occupation forces.

The demand for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and justice echoed through the city. We WILL see an end to the genocide, we WILL see accountability for Danish complicity in these atrocities, and we WILL see a free and liberated Palestine from the river to the sea, to which its people will return 🇵🇸❤️‍🔥✊

This is my friend Badee Dwaik being arrested with four other long term activists here on Thursday at an action for Land Day planting olive trees on Palestinian land in H2.  He faces charges tomorrow in a military court for participating in an illegal demonstration and being in a closed military zone. (Be aware, all demonstrations in the Israeli controlled West Bank are illegal, and a closed military zone is pretty much what and where the army decides it is.)  ISM were at the action and reported.  To my regret, I wasn’t able to go.  

Badee and his friends at Human Rights Defenders provide some of the cameras that expose the injustice of this occupation.  Without them, the world would not have known about the extra-judicial killing last March here in Hebron  of a young Palestinian and the soldier responsible would never have been tried at all.  

Ironically, the latest film to be uploaded to their website is that of Badee’s own arrest (below).

I have been working with Badee to publicise his new work putting cameras in schools and training a new generation of young child activists to defend their own human rights and document the harassment and danger they face as schoolchildren here.

He and two of his friends were due to come to the UK (including to Nottingham) next month to talk about this work.  That is now very unlikely.  Even if Badee is not sent to prison it is unlikely now that he will get the necessary visa from the Israeli authorities to travel.

Looks like a lot of letter writing to embassies and MPs may be coming up.

The protest marks the beginning of the “Great Return March,” a 45-day series of events planned to culminate on May 15, Nakba Day. While the Israeli army has portrayed the march as a violent provocation organized by Hamas, the march’s organizers have stressed that the march is an apolitical, non-violent protest against the unbearable living conditions in Gaza and for the Palestinian right of return.
